A coating composition is disclosed which comprises an aqueous polymeric matrix, a hydrophilic polymer, a colloidal metal oxide and a crosslinker. The coating composition when applied on medical devices is hydrophilic, shows improved lubricity, abrasion resistance and substrate adhesion on metallic or plastic substrates. The coating also shows improved water sheeting thus providing the coated substrates with anti-fog properties. The coating absorbs aqueous dye or stain solutions making the substrate suitable for printing.

There is disclosed a water-absorbing agent which combines both performances of the capillary suction force and the liquid permeability. This water-absorbing agent is a particulate water-absorbing agent comprising water-absorbent resin particles (α) and a liquid-permeability-enhancing agent (β), wherein the water-absorbent resin particles (α) are surface-crosslink-treated particles of a crosslinked polymer of a monomer including acrylic acid and/or its salt; with the water-absorbing agent being characterized in that the particulate water-absorbing agent has: a mass-average particle diameter (D50) in the range of 234 to 394 gm, a logarithmic standard deviation (σξY) of a particle diameter distribution in the range of 0.25 to 0.45, an absorption capacity without load (CRC) of not less than 15 g/g, and a water-extractable component content of not higher than 15 mass %; and further a liquid-permeability-enhancing agent (β) content in the range of 0.01 to 5 mass parts per 100 mass parts of the water-absorbent resin particles (α).

Compositions for scavenging oxygen are disclosed. These compositions comprise condensation copolymers comprising predominantly polyester segments and an oxygen scavenging amount of polyolefin oligomer segments. The polyester segments comprise segments derived from typical bottling and packaging polyesters such as PET and PEN. The copolymers are preferably formed by transesterification during reactive extrusion and typically comprise about 0.5 to about 12 wt % of polyolefin oligomer segments. The copolycondensates are capable of absorbing at least 0.4 cc of oxygen per gram of copolymer in the solid state at ambient temperatures and are typically used as layers in films, liners, cups, wraps, bottles, etc. Use of these oxygen scavenging compositions in bottles provides a clear and rigid bottle similar in appearance to unmodified polyester bottles. In a series of preferred embodiments, bottles fabricated with the oxygen scavenging copolycondensates of this invention are over 99.4 wt % polyester and suitable for recycle with other polyester bottles.

A kit for dental adhesive comprising a radical polymerizable monomer having an acid group in the molecule, a photosensitizer and/or a peroxide, a water-soluble organic solvent, an organic sulfinic acid and/or a salt thereof or a barbituric acid and/or a derivative thereof, and water. The kit may further comprises a radical polymerizable monomer which has no acid group and is insoluble or hardly soluble in water, an amine compound, a silane coupling agent and a 1,3,5-triazine-2,4-dithion derivative. By using this kit, the adhesive composition can be applied directly to a dentine without conducting a pretreatment.

The present invention is directed to radiation curable and jettable ink compositions and particularly to such compositions which exhibit enhanced elongation, when cured at low doses, and are advantageously used, for example, in digital inkjet printing. The compositions include a polyfunctional component and a monofunctional monomer, and may optionally include an additional monofuctional component and/or chain transfer agent. The compositions have a viscosity at 25° C. of not greater than about 70 cP and are radiation curable to form a cured ink having an elongation of between about 40 and about 150%. In addition, the compositions, when cured at low dose, exhibit a tack free surface and a low coefficient of friction.

Aqueous dispersions are disclosed, having a minimum film formation temperature no greater than about 50° C., that include a multi-stage emulsion polymer made by a process that includes a first polymerization stage, in which a first monomer mixture having a calculated glass transition temperature of at least about 50° C. is polymerized via free radical emulsion polymerization to obtain a first-stage emulsion polymer, and a second polymerization stage, in which a second monomer mixture, having a calculated glass transition temperature from about −30° C. to about 10° C., is polymerized via free radical emulsion polymerization, in the presence of the first-stage emulsion polymer. There is disclosed a process for continuous production of a water-absorbent resin product by which the water-absorbent resin product having high properties can continuously be produced easily and inexpensively with stable constant quality. In addition, there is disclosed a water-absorbent resin product having high properties and being stable in quality. The process comprises the following steps of: (A) measuring a water-absorbent resin by its predetermined property and/or its predetermined component content, wherein the water-absorbent resin comes being continuously produced via a classification step and/or a surface-modifying step; (B) separating a predetermined amount of water-absorbent resin (a) from the water-absorbent resin that comes being continuously produced, wherein the water-absorbent resin (a) is a water-absorbent resin which displays not less than a definite value and/or a water-absorbent resin which displays not more than a definite value as to the predetermined property and/or the predetermined component content in accordance with results of the aforementioned measurement; and (C) mixing at least a portion of the aforementioned separated predetermined amount of water-absorbent resin (a) into a water-absorbent resin that comes being continuously produced via a classification step and/or a surface-modifying step on the same or another production line.

A water-based coating composition suitable for preparing hydrophilic surfaces on various articles is provided which includes a supporting polymer having functional moieties capable of undergoing crosslinking reactions, said supporting polymer soluble in or emulsified in an aqueous based medium; and a hydrophilic polymer, said hydrophilic polymer associated with the supporting polymer. The composition is characterized in that, when crosslinked at the functional moieties, the supporting polymer forms a three-dimensional network which substantially minimizes disassociation of the hydrophilic polymer.

The odorless anti-formaldehyde environment-friendly internal wall latex paint is prepared from the following components in percentage by weight: 1-15% of visible light induced nano titanium dioxide photocatalyst slurry, 15-35% of odorless emulsion, 1-15% of formaldehyde absorbent, 0.5-2% of dispersing agent, 0.2-3% of thickening agent, 0.2-1% of wetting agent, 0.1-1% of defoaming agent, 0.5-5% of film-forming assistant, 0.2-3% of anti-freeze agent, 20-40% of pigment and filler, 0.1-1% of pH regulator, 0.01-0.1% of anticorrosive bactericide and 15-40% of deionized water. The invention adopts an IPS+odorless technique, and the visible light induced nano titanium dioxide photocatalyst and the formaldehyde absorbent are added, thereby achieving the optimal effect of removing formaldehyde and other harmful substances through physical adsorption and chemical decomposition. The invention can be widely used for decorative spraying of various internal walls and other constructions.

The use of high aspect fillers in the production of simulated stone, masonry and brick textured products such as cladding, siding, panels, or other building and construction materials. High aspect fillers increase the dimensional stability, rigidity, thermal and sound insulation. The high aspect fillers may be included into a matrix polymer with or without chemical bonding.
