A polyester resin composition is calendered to produce a film or a sheet. The polyester resin composition is a polyester having a crystallization half time from a molten state of at least 5 minutes combined with an additive for preventing sticking of the polyester to calendering rolls.

A method and apparatus for purifying crude terephthalic acid from a liquid dispersion thereof also containing impurities selected from unreacted starting materials, solvents, products of side reactions and/or other undesired materials is provided. The method comprises the steps of filtering the dispersion to form a crude terephthalic acid filter cake, dissolving the filter cake in a selective crystallization solvent at an elevated temperature to form a solution, crystallizing purified terephthalic acid from the solution in the crystallization solvent by reducing the pressure and temperature of the solution, and separating the crystallized purified terephthalic acid from the solution. According to the invention, the selective crystallization solvent is non-aqueous, non-corrosive and essentially non-reactive with terephthalic acid. Preferably, the selective crystallization solvent is N-methyl pyrrolidone. The method and apparatus produces purified terephthalic acid having a purity desired for use in forming polyester resin and other products at an economically attractive rate and at operating conditions of reduced severity which require a lower capital investment and simplified processing.

A multilayer heat-sealable chlorine-free film of relatively low modulus, high interlaminar strength, and low noise upon flexing is provided. The film comprises an odor barrier layer of polyester resin and at least one heat-sealable skin layer, preferably two such skin layers on opposite sides of said odor barrier layer, composed of a homopolymer of ethylene or a copolymer of ethylene and an alpha-olefin or an ester-containing monomer. In a preferred embodiment, the odor barrier layer is formed of polyethylene terephthalate and adhesive tie layers are interposed between the odor barrier layer and the skin layers, resulting in a multilayer film of five layers. The present invention employs alkyl polysilicate to form silicone-polyester-polysilicate hybrid compositions with an appropriate proportion to modify silicone-polyester resin, or directly adds the alkyl polysilicate at an appropriate proportion into silicone-polyester resin to produce a hybrid composition. The composition in high baking temperature forms a hybrid structure having good thermal resistance, especially, hot-oil resistance and hot hardness, and good adhesion to metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum. • • a binder resin which is at least a resin selected from the group consisting of modified polyester resins and unmodified polyester resins; and
  • a colorant; the product toner having a volume-average particle diameter (Dv) to a number-average particle diameter (Dn) ratio (Dv/Dn) ranging from 1.00 to 1.30, and the toner having a shape factor SF-1 ranging from 140 to 200.

A method of manufacturing a multilayer or a monolayer plastic container is disclosed. The present invention is a method for efficiently incorporating a UV absorber into a polyester resin. The method includes forming a reaction mixture comprising a diol component, a diacid component selected from the group consisting of dicarboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acid derivatives, and mixtures thereof, an antimony containing compound, a phosphorus containing compound, a metal containing compound, and a UV absorber. The reaction mixture is polymerized in a polycondensation reaction system. In another embodiment of the present invention, the UV absorber is added while the reaction products from one reactor are transferred to the next reactor in the polycondensation reaction system. A polyester composition having the UV absorber incorporated therein is also disclosed.

The invention discloses a fame-retardant polyester material with a high glow wire ignition temperature and a preparation method thereof. The flame-retardant polyester material with a high glow wire ignition temperature is composed of the following components in parts by weight: 100 parts of polyester resins, 15-50 parts of bromine-series flame retardant, 5-20 parts of synergistic flame retardant, 0-20 parts of toughening agent, 0-80 parts of carbon forming agent, 5-40 parts of hot oxygen barrier agent, 0-120 parts of fibrous reinforcing agent and 0-10 parts of processing aid. The preparation method of the flame-retardant polyester material with a high glow wire ignition temperature comprises: drying the polyester resins, mixing with other components to obtain a premixed material, then feeding the premixed material into a twin-screw extruder, melting and plasticizing, kneading and mixing, extruding, drawing, cooling, pelletizing, drying and finally packaging. The flame-retardant polyester material with a high glow wire ignition temperature has the advantages of low cost, high glow wire ignition temperature, similar mechanical strength to ordinary flame-retardant polyester and wide application range.

The invention provides a heat-shrinkable multi-layer film comprising at least a thermoplastic resin layer as the outermost layer (A), a gas barrier resin layer as a core layer (B) and a sealing resin layer as the innermost layer (C), and optionally an adhesive layer between the individual layers, wherein (1) the sealing resin layer of the innermost layer (C) is a layer formed of a resin material (b) comprising a linear ethylene-1-octene copolymer (a) obtained by using a constrained geometry catalyst and having an 1-octene content not lower than 1 wt. % but lower than 20 wt. % and a density higher than 0.885 g/cm3 but not higher than 0.960 g/cm3, and (2) an intermediate layer (D1) formed of at least one resin (c) selected from the group consisting of polyamide resins, thermoplastic polyester resins and ethylene copolymer resins is provided between the outermost layer (A) and the core layer (B).
