Description
Clutch hub forming method, mold and clutch hub
[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application is based on and claims priority to the Chinese patent application with application number 202311151042.0 and application date September 7, 2023. The disclosed content of the Chinese patent application is hereby introduced as a whole into this application. Technical Field
[0003] The present disclosure relates to the field of clutch processing, and in particular to a clutch hub forming method, a mold, and a clutch hub. Background Art
[0004] The clutch is a common component in mechanical transmissions, consisting of a clutch hub, friction plates, steel plates, shaft, and bearings. During clutch operation, torque transmission is connected and disconnected by tightening and loosening the friction plates against the clutch hub. As a key component in torque transmission, the precision and strength of the clutch hub directly impact the performance and lifespan of the transmission.
[0005] The clutch hub typically consists of a splined area with a circumferential tooth profile for mating with the friction plate, and an annular hub base. The quality of the splined area's circumferential tooth profile directly impacts the assembly accuracy of the clutch hub and friction plate. The hub base connects to the shaft, transmitting torque, and mates with the piston, ensuring hydraulic pressure engages the steel plate and friction plate.
[0006] In related technologies, in order to meet the mechanical performance requirements of the clutch hub, the clutch hub is usually formed by two forming methods: one-piece stamping and upper and lower separate processing and welding.
[0007] Summary of the Invention
[0008] The inventors discovered that the prior art integrated stamping method involves plastic deformation. During the stamping process, the material flows under stress, resulting in varying thinning rates. This uneven thickness results in tooth tip roundness that doesn't meet dimensional requirements, leading to poor circumferential tooth profile quality and, in turn, insufficient assembly precision between the clutch hub and friction plate. Furthermore, the method of machining the upper and lower parts separately and then welding them together presents complex processing steps, high manufacturing costs, and difficulty ensuring hub coaxiality after welding.
[0009] In view of this, the embodiments of the present disclosure provide a clutch hub forming method, a mold, and a clutch hub, which can improve the processing quality of the clutch hub while meeting the mechanical performance requirements of the clutch hub.

[0084] Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of a process for forming a clutch hub according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Figure 2 is a schematic cross-sectional diagram of an extrusion casting mold according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0085] 1 and 2 , an embodiment of the present disclosure provides a clutch hub forming method, including steps S1 to S6 .
[0086] In step S1 , an aluminum alloy melt is obtained.
[0087] In step S2, an extrusion casting mold of the clutch hub body is provided, and the aluminum alloy melt is filled into the barrel 11 of the extrusion casting mold.
[0088] In step S3, after the aluminum alloy melt is filled into the mold, the mold is pressurized and maintained to form a solidified aluminum alloy casting;
[0089] In step S4, the solidified aluminum alloy casting is subjected to incomplete solution treatment;
[0090] In step S5, the aluminum alloy casting that has undergone incomplete solid solution treatment is subjected to aging treatment;
[0091] In step S6, the outer surface and inner assembly surface of the aluminum alloy casting that has completed the aging treatment are fine-machined to obtain a finished clutch hub body.
[0092] In this embodiment, the aluminum alloy melt filled into the clutch hub body is extrusion-casted using an extrusion casting mold, and then the obtained aluminum alloy casting is subjected to incomplete solid solution treatment and aging treatment, thereby obtaining the finished clutch hub body by fine-machining the outer surface and inner assembly surface of the aluminum alloy casting that has completed the aging treatment.
[0093] In related technologies, aluminum alloy workpieces can also be formed using die casting. However, die casting is typically used for thin-walled parts. While it offers high processing speed, it lacks density and is unsuitable for heat treatment. The aluminum alloy grades used also fail to meet the performance requirements of the clutch hub. In contrast, the squeeze casting method used in this embodiment produces aluminum alloy castings of higher quality and greater density, facilitating forming and processing. It can also be used for heat treatment to improve performance, thereby achieving the performance requirements of a high-precision, high-strength, and high-toughness hub.
[0094] Compared with the stamping one-piece molding method and the upper and lower split processing and welding molding in the related technology, considering the complex structure of the clutch hub and the large variation in wall thickness, the aluminum alloy casting obtained by extrusion casting adopted in this embodiment has higher molding quality, is convenient for subsequent fine processing, and can obtain higher processing quality.
[0095] In addition, the incomplete solution treatment of the obtained aluminum alloy casting can effectively save energy consumption and production cycle, which is beneficial to improving production efficiency and reducing costs. Compared with the higher thermal stress caused by high temperature during complete solution treatment, this embodiment can reduce the generation of thermal stress, thereby reducing the risk of deformation or cracking of the aluminum alloy casting.
[0096] In some embodiments, the aluminum alloy melt obtained in step S1 has a composition by mass wt% as follows:
[0097] Si: 7-9, optional: 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5 or 9;
[0098] Cu: 2-4, optional: 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 or 4;
[0099] Mg: 0.4-0.8, optional: 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 or 0.8;
[0100] Mn: 0.3~0.6, optional 0.3, 0.4, 0.5 or 0.6;
[0101] Fe: 0.1~0.4, optional: 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 or 0.4;
[0102] Ni: 0.4-0.6, optional: 0.4, 0.45, 0.5, 0.55 or 0.6;
[0103] Sr: 0.1~0.3, optional: 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25 or 0.3;
[0104] The rest is Al and unavoidable impurities, the total impurities are ≤0.4, and the total impurities can be selected to be equal to 0.4, 0.35, 0.3, 0.25, 0.2 or 0.1.
[0105] In this aluminum alloy melt, appropriate amounts of Si and Mn improve its fluidity, enabling good mold filling. Appropriate amounts of Mg, Ni, and Fe increase the strength of the aluminum alloy, enhancing the toughness of the clutch hub. An appropriate amount of Sr improves the morphology of eutectic silicon, increasing the toughness of the clutch hub. An appropriate amount of Cu improves the strength and heat treatment properties of the aluminum alloy, as well as its corrosion resistance. Combined with the aforementioned squeeze casting and heat treatment processes, a high-precision, high-strength, and high-toughness aluminum alloy clutch hub can be obtained.
[0106] According to the above-mentioned composition in mass percentage wt%, in some embodiments, the step of obtaining an aluminum alloy melt in step S1 includes: weighing metal aluminum ingots, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-copper alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys, aluminum-nickel alloys, metal magnesium ingots wrapped by aluminum-copper alloys, and aluminum-strontium alloys according to the composition of the aluminum alloy melt in mass percentage wt%; and smelting the symmetrically taken metal aluminum ingots, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-copper alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys, aluminum-nickel alloys, metal magnesium ingots wrapped by aluminum-copper alloys, and aluminum-strontium alloys in a smelting furnace to obtain the aluminum alloy melt.
[0107] The use of metal magnesium ingots wrapped by aluminum-copper alloy during the smelting process can reduce the oxidation of magnesium, thereby reducing oxide impurities in the aluminum alloy.
[0108] In some embodiments, before the step of melting the weighed metal aluminum ingots, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-copper alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys, and aluminum-nickel alloys, it also includes: placing the weighed metal aluminum ingots, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-copper alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys, and aluminum-nickel alloys into a drying furnace for preheating at a preheating temperature of 150-250°C.
[0109] Preheating metal aluminum ingots, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-copper alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys and aluminum-nickel alloys to 150-250°C (e.g., 150°C, 175°C, 200°C, 225°C or 250°C) helps to improve melting efficiency, improve temperature uniformity among various materials, and facilitate obtaining a more uniform aluminum alloy melt.
[0110] FIG3 is a schematic diagram of a process for melting an aluminum alloy melt in a clutch hub forming method according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0111] 3 , in some embodiments, the step of smelting the symmetrically taken metal aluminum ingots, aluminum-silicon alloys, aluminum-copper alloys, aluminum-manganese alloys, aluminum-nickel alloys, metal magnesium ingots wrapped by aluminum-copper alloys, and aluminum-strontium alloys in a smelting furnace includes steps S11 to S16.
[0112] In step S11, the preheated aluminum ingot is added to a smelting furnace and heated to 700-760°C (e.g., 700°C, 710°C, 720°C, 730°C, 740°C, 750°C or 760°C) to melt the aluminum ingot into aluminum liquid.
[0113] In step S12, the weighed aluminum-silicon alloy, the aluminum-copper alloy, the aluminum-manganese alloy and the aluminum-nickel alloy are added into the metallic aluminum liquid in order of melting point from low to high, so as to melt the aluminum-silicon alloy, the aluminum-copper alloy, the aluminum-manganese alloy and the aluminum-nickel alloy.
[0114] In step S13, a weighed magnesium ingot wrapped with an aluminum-copper alloy is added and electromagnetic stirring is performed.
[0115] In step S14, nitrogen or inert gas is introduced into the bottom of the smelting furnace for degassing by adopting a rotary degassing method.
[0116] In step S15, the weighed aluminum strontium alloy is added and subjected to a modification treatment.
[0117] In step S16, a slag removal agent is added into the smelting furnace to perform a slag removal process.
[0118] In the above step S15, the aluminum strontium alloy for the modification treatment is added after degassing, which not only realizes the modification treatment but also prevents the strontium element from being melted for a long time and lost when it is added earlier.
[0119] In the above embodiment, the step of pressurizing and maintaining in step S3 includes: pressurizing according to an extrusion pressure of 200-300 MPa (for example, 200 MPa, 220 MPa, 250 MPa, 280 MPa or 300 MPa) and maintaining it for 30-40 seconds (for example, 30 seconds, 35 seconds or 40 seconds).
[0120] By using a greater extrusion pressure during pressurization and maintenance, the casting can be solidified under high pressure to reduce the possibility of shrinkage cavity occurrence, effectively improve the density of the aluminum alloy hub body, and meet the density requirements of the clutch hub body in load-bearing.
[0121] FIG4 is a flow diagram of an extrusion casting process in a clutch hub forming method according to some embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0122] Referring to the extrusion casting mold shown in Figure 2, the extrusion casting mold includes a movable mold assembly 30, a fixed mold assembly 20, a cylinder base 10, a first mechanical locking mechanism 40, and a second mechanical locking mechanism 50. The barrel 11 is mounted on the cylinder base 10, and the fixed mold assembly 20 is located above the cylinder base 10 and can be locked to the cylinder base 10 via the first mechanical locking mechanism 40. The movable mold assembly 30 is located above the fixed mold assembly 20 and can move relative to the fixed mold assembly 20 to form a cavity communicating with the barrel 11. It can also be locked to the fixed mold assembly 20 via the second mechanical locking mechanism 50.
[0123] Accordingly, referring to FIG. 4 , in some embodiments, the step of providing the extrusion casting mold of the clutch hub body in step S2 and filling the aluminum alloy melt into the barrel 11 of the extrusion casting mold includes steps S21 to S26 .
[0124] In step S21, the extrusion casting mold is preheated. Extrusion casting can be performed on a dedicated vertical hydraulic press. The extrusion casting mold is pre-installed on the hydraulic press and preheated to maintain a temperature of 160-220°C (e.g., 160°C, 180°C, 200°C, or 220°C).
[0125] In step S22, the movable mold assembly 30 is moved upward relative to the fixed mold assembly 20, and a mold release agent is sprayed onto the portions of the movable mold assembly 30 and the fixed mold assembly 20 that form the mold cavity. If the movable mold assembly 30 and the fixed mold assembly 20 have been previously locked by the second mechanical locking mechanism 50, the second mechanical locking mechanism 50 can be opened, and the movable mold assembly 30 can be moved upward relative to the fixed mold assembly 20. A suitable amount of mold release agent can then be sprayed onto the mold cavity using a dedicated spray gun.
[0126] In step S23 , the movable mold assembly 30 is moved downward relative to the fixed mold assembly 20 and is clamped with the fixed mold assembly 20 , and then the movable mold assembly 30 and the fixed mold assembly 20 are locked by the second mechanical locking mechanism 50 .
[0127] In step S24 , the movable mold assembly 30 and the fixed mold assembly 20 are moved upward relative to the cylinder base 10 , and a portion of the aluminum alloy melt is filled into the barrel 11 .
[0128] In step S25, the movable mold assembly 30 and the fixed mold assembly 20 are moved downward relative to the cylinder base 10 and are molded with the cylinder base 10, and then the fixed mold assembly 20 is locked with the cylinder base 10 by the first mechanical locking mechanism 40.
[0129] In step S26, a portion of the aluminum alloy melt is filled into the mold cavity at a speed of 0.1 to 0.4 m / s through the barrel 11. Specifically, the aluminum alloy melt can be pushed by a piston to smoothly fill the mold. After the filling is completed, the pressure holding process is immediately started to solidify the aluminum alloy solution under high pressure.
[0130] In this embodiment, in order to adopt a larger extrusion pressure of 200-300 MPa when the pressurization is maintained, steps S23 and S25 respectively use the first mechanical locking mechanism and the second mechanical locking mechanism to lock when the mold is closed, so as to prevent the aluminum alloy melt from being squeezed out of the gap when subjected to a larger extrusion pressure.
[0131] In some embodiments, step S4 of performing incomplete solution treatment on the aluminum alloy casting includes: removing the solidified aluminum alloy casting from the extrusion casting mold and placing it in water at 60-100° C. for cooling.
[0132] Directly cooling the solidified aluminum alloy casting in water utilizes the residual heat of the casting, eliminating the traditional air cooling and reheating steps, thereby saving energy. This omission effectively shortens the manufacturing cycle and improves production efficiency. Furthermore, it reduces the use of heating equipment and energy, helping to reduce costs.
[0133] In some embodiments, step S5 of performing aging treatment on the aluminum alloy casting that has completed incomplete solution treatment includes: keeping the aluminum alloy casting that has completed non-solution treatment in a heat treatment furnace at 170-200°C (for example, 170°C, 180°C, 190°C or 200°C) for 5-8 hours (5h, 6h, 7h or 8h), and then taking it out of the furnace and air-cooling it.
[0134] By subjecting aluminum alloy castings that have completed incomplete solution treatment to an aging treatment at 170-200°C for 5-8 hours, the internal stress of the aluminum alloy castings can be effectively eliminated, the structure and size can be stabilized, and the mechanical properties can be improved.
