The transparent projection display technology is a very appealing and economical technology and plays a crucial role in the human-machine interface function in various situation like a vehicle.
[0003] At present, there are several types of transparent display films which can achieve transparent projection display effects:
[0004] 1. Film with scattering particles. This technology is based on particles that can scatter incident light and is mainly used for back projection, but usually shows a relatively high haze (usually higher than 8%) and an insufficient front projection performance.
[0005] 2. Multilayer holographic projection film. Nano holographic display technology has a selective scattering effect on the light of projector, which can present a good display image effect. However, this technology has a high cost and a relatively low visible light transmittance (usually less than 80%) . CN215204376U discloses a vehicle sunroof assembly structure and a vehicle with projection function, wherein a vehicle with projection function is achieved while ensuring the aesthetics inside the vehicle by attaching a holographic projection film on an inner surface of the sunroof glass on the vehicle roof and setting a holographic projector, of which the light source is facing the holographic projection film, on the sunroof frame.
[0006] 3. Liquid crystal coating film. This technology is based on a liquid crystal compound to achieve a display effect but is usually costly and difficult for customization. CN116243417A discloses a stacked film for display containing a liquid crystal compound, wherein an optical anisotropic layer formed by a liquid crystal compound is used, which is suitable for various fields such as a display.Summary

[0055] Light-transmittable multilayer film
[0056] In an aspect, provided is a light-transmittable multilayer film comprising a glass substrate, a textured polymeric layer, a semi-reflective coating layer and a polymeric surface layer; wherein the semi-reflective coating layer is located between the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer; the glass substrate is located on a side of the textured polymeric layer facing away from the semi-reflective coating layer and is in contact with the textured polymeric layer; each of the contacting surfaces of the semi-reflective coating layer with the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer are textured and parallel with each other; wherein the glass substrate has a thickness of 0.025 mm to 0.2 mm. Fig. 1 shows an embodiment of the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure, wherein Light-transmittable multilayer film 100 comprises, in sequence, Glass substrate 101, Textured polymeric layer 102, Semi-reflective coating layer 103 and Polymeric surface layer 104. Further, in Light-transmittable multilayer film 100, Glass substrate 101 is in contact with Textured polymeric layer 102, Semi-reflective coating layer 103 is in contact with both Textured polymeric layer 102 and Polymeric surface layer 104.
[0057] The term “light-transmittable” as used herein means that the multilayer film as a whole has a certain visible light transmittance, which enables a field of view to be obtained through the film. For example, the visible light transmittance of the multilayer film may be about 20%or more. The light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure may be flexibly adjusted for its visible light transmittance according to application scenarios. In an embodiment, the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure may have a relatively high visible light transmittance, for example, a visible light transmittance of about 50%or more, or about 70%or more. Such light-transmittable multilayer film is particularly suitable for the scenario where a user wishes to see external environmental conditions through the multilayer film, such as in a vehicle glass, especially in the front windshield of a vehicle.
[0058] Glass substrate
[0059] In the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure, a glass material is used as the substrate, whereby the advantages of glass can be sufficiently embodied, such as low haze, high transparency, good scratch resistance or the like. Moreover, due to rich hydroxyl groups on the surface of glass structure, the glass substrate can have strong adhesion with adjacent layers (especially adjacent layers of polymer materials) . At least due to the above reasons, the light-transmittable multilayer film of the present disclosure comprises a glass substrate.
[0060] The glass substrate may be an amorphous inorganic non-metallic material, which is typically made from various inorganic minerals (such as quartz sand, borax, boric acid, barite, barium carbonate, limestone, feldspar, soda ash and the like) as the main raw material, with a small amount of auxiliary raw materials added. The main components are silica and other oxides. The “glass” may be of any type, including a sodium-containing glass or a low sodium glass (such as a high borosilicate glass, a high aluminosilicate glass or the like) . The glass may be, for example, a colorless glass, or a colored glass in which certain metal oxides or salts are mixed to give the glass a certain color. The glass substrate may be of any shape. According to practical requirements, the glass substrate may be for example square, rectangle, circle, ellipse, regular hexagon or the like. According to practical requirements, the glass may be a strengthened glass which has undergone strengthening treatment, such as a glass which has undergone chemically strengthening treatment.
[0061] The glass substrate according to the present disclosure may have an appropriate thickness, which enables the glass substrate to provide good support effect to facilitate the subsequent formation of a textured coating layer thereon, and also has flexible and bendable features. Herein, the glass substrate may be an ultrathin glass with a thickness of 0.025 mm to 0.2 mm, preferably 0.03 mm to 0.1 mm and more preferably 0.05 to 0.1 mm, such as a thickness of 0.025 mm, 0.03 mm, 0.035 mm, 0.04 mm, 0.045 mm, 0.05 mm, 0.055 mm, 0.06 mm, 0.065 mm, 0.07 mm, 0.075 mm, 0.08 mm, 0.085 mm, 0.09 mm, 0.095 mm, 0.1 mm, 0.12 mm, 0.15 mm, 0.2 mm or the like. Due to the thickness mentioned above, the ultrathin glass has flexibility, which renders the light-transmittable multilayer film good adaptability to various types of surfaces (such as a planar surface or a non-planar surface) and a good bonding effect. When the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure is used in a glass assembly comprising a non-planar glass sheet, for example a glass assembly comprising a curved glass sheet, the light-transmittable multilayer film can adapt to and well bonded to the curved surface of the curved glass sheet without hot bending treatment to the ultrathin glass.
[0062] The glass substrate comprises two smooth main surfaces. Herein, one main surface is the surface of the glass substrate in contact with the textured polymeric layer and another surface opposite to said surface is another main surface of the glass substrate. The main surfaces of the glass substrate are smooth and non-rough, which may avoid strength loss of the glass substrate.
[0063] The light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure achieves specular transmission and diffuse reflection of incident radiation on the light-transmittable multilayer film. The specular transmission ensures a clear view through the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0064] Herein, the light-transmittable multilayer film has two smooth outer surfaces, which allows for specular transmission of radiation at the outer surface / air interface of the light-transmittable multilayer film, such that radiation passes through the light-transmittable multilayer film without changing its direction.
[0065] As one of the outer surfaces of the light-transmittable multilayer film, the smooth main surface of the glass substrate allows specular transmission of radiation at other media (such as air) / glass substrate interface.
[0066] Herein, the smooth surface is one in which the surface irregularities are such that the incident radiation is not deflected by these surface irregularities, wherein the incident radiation is transmitted and reflected by the surface in a specular manner. Preferably, the smooth surface is one in which the surface irregularity has a dimension which is smaller or much larger (large-scale undulation) than the wavelength of the incident radiation thereon. Preferably, the smooth surface is a surface with a roughness parameter corresponding to an arithmetic mean deviation Ra of less than 0.1 μm, preferably less than 0.01 μm, or a slope of less than 10°.
[0067] When a glass material is used as the substrate, the glass substrate may achieve a very high surface smoothness. In other words, according to actual needs, the glass substrate may have very smooth main surfaces. The smooth main surfaces of the glass substrate are conducive for improving the specular transmission effect by radiation passing through the glass substrate. Particularly, when the glass substrate is used as an outer glass, the smooth main surface of the glass substrate has an advantage in improving the specular transmission of radiation at other media (such as air) / glass substrate interface.
[0068] Textured polymeric layer
[0069] Herein, the textured polymeric layer is located at a side of the glass substrate. The textured polymeric layer is in direct contact with the glass substrate. No additional adhesive layer is required between the textured polymeric layer and the glass substrate. One surface of the textured polymeric layer is directly adhered to one main surface of the glass substrate, and the surface of the textured polymeric layer contacting the glass substrate is smooth. Another surface of the textured polymeric layer is textured (i.e., the surface is a textured surface) , and the semi-reflective coating layer is deposited thereon. The textured surface of the textured polymeric layer is used as depositing surface for the semi-reflective coating layer and therefore the surface of the semi-reflective coating layer in contact with the textured surface of the textured polymeric layer will have complementary texture. That is, the structure and shape of the semi-reflective coating layer will be influenced by the textured surface of the textured polymeric layer.
[0070] Herein, the textured surface refers to one in which the surface properties vary at a greater scale than the wavelength of the incident radiation on the surface, wherein the incident radiation is transmitted and reflected by the surface in a diffuse manner. Preferably, the textured surface according to the present disclosure has a roughness parameter corresponding to an arithmetic mean deviation Ra of at least 0.5 μm, particularly 1-5 μm (corresponding to arithmetic mean of all absolute distances of roughness profile R measured over an evaluation length starting from a median line of the profile) . The textured surface may be adjusted by texture parameters such as roughness, average slope, and slope distribution to achieve the desired effect.
[0071] The textured polymeric layer has a refractive index close to or same as that of the glass substrate, which is conducive for achieving the specular transmission effect of the light-transmittable multilayer film. Lowering the absolute value of a refractive index difference between the textured polymeric layer and the glass substrate is conducive for reducing the haze of the light-transmittable multilayer film, thereby ensuring a clear view through the light-transmittable multilayer film. The absolute value of the refractive index difference between the textured polymeric layer and the glass substrate may be 0.05 or less, preferably 0.02 or less, so as to satisfy low haze requirements in certain projection display applications, for example, 0.05 or less, 0.02 or less, 0.018 or less, 0.016 or less, 0.014 or less, 0.012 or less, 0.01 or less, 0.008 or less, 0.006 or less, 0.004 or less, 0.002 or less, or the like.
[0072] The textured polymeric layer has a refractive index close to or same as that of the polymeric surface layer, which is also conducive for achieving the specular transmission effect of the light-transmittable multilayer film. Lowering the absolute value of a refractive index difference between the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer is conducive for reducing the haze of the light-transmittable multilayer film, thereby ensuring a clear view through the light-transmittable multilayer film. The absolute value of the refractive index difference between the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer may be 0.05 or less, preferably 0.02 or less, so as to satisfy low haze requirements in certain projection display applications, for example, 0.05 or less, 0.02 or less, 0.018 or less, 0.016 or less, 0.014 or less, 0.012 or less, 0.01 or less, 0.008 or less, 0.006 or less, 0.004 or less, 0.002 or less, or the like.
[0073] Herein, an appropriate material for the textured polymeric layer has good visible light transmittance, and the material characteristics are conducive for achieving the texturing effect, and ensure adhesion with adjacent layers. For ensuing the bonding effect, a fluorine-free polymer may be used as the material of the textured polymeric layer. The material of the textured polymeric layer according to the present disclosure comprises but is not limited to one or more of polyester, polyacrylate, polycarbonate, polyurethane, polyamide, polyimide, photocrosslinkable and / or photopolymerizable resin, and polythiourethane.
[0074] Preferably, the material of the textured polymeric layer is modified polyacrylate, comprising but not limited to polyurethane acrylate, polyester acrylate, epoxy acrylate, aminated acrylate or the like. Commercially available raw materials may be used to prepare the textured polymeric layer. In a specific embodiment, the material of the textured polymeric layer according to the present disclosure is modified polyacrylate purchased from Sartomer.
[0075] According to actual requirements, the textured polymeric layer may be colorless or colored.
[0076] Semi-reflective coating layer
[0077] Herein, the semi-reflective coating layer refers to a coating layer that is semi-reflective in the visible light range. A coating layer that is semi-reflective refers to that when incident radiation (such as visible light) reaches the coating layer, part of the incident radiation is diffusely reflected by the coating layer, and part of the incident radiation is transmitted by the coating layer. The semi-reflective coating layer is located at a side of the textured polymeric layer facing away from the glass substrate and is in contact with the textured surface of the textured polymeric layer. For the semi-reflective coating layer, the surface in contact with the textured polymeric layer is textured, and the textures of the textured surface of the semi-reflective coating layer are complementary to the textures of the textured surface of the textured polymeric layer.
[0078] The light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure can achieve specular transmission and diffuse reflection of incident radiation on the light-transmittable multilayer film. Specular transmission ensures a clear view through the light-transmittable multilayer film. Diffuse reflection prevents sharp reflection on the light-transmittable multilayer film and the risk of glare, so as to achieve good projection display effects.
[0079] Diffuse reflection on the light-transmittable multilayer film results from that each contacting surface between the semi-reflective coating layer and its adjacent layers (i.e., the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer) is textured. Thus, when an incident radiation on the light-transmittable multilayer film reaches such a contacting surface, the reflection is diffuse as the contacting surface is textured. The semi-reflective coating layer may at least comprise a metal layer, or a dielectric layer having a refractive index different from that of at least one of the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer. The semi-reflective coating layer according to the present disclosure may be formed of a monolayer, or may be formed from a stack constituted by multiple monolayers. When the semi-reflective coating layer according to the present disclosure is formed of a monolayer, it may be a metal layer or may be a dielectric layer having a refractive index different from that of at least one of the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer. When the semi-reflective coating layer according to the present disclosure is formed from a stack constituted by multiple monolayers, the stack at least comprises a metal layer or comprises a dielectric layer having a refractive index different from that of at least one of the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer. Herein, the contacting surfaces of each monolayer in the stack with adjacent layers are textured and parallel to each other. Herein, when the absolute value of refractive index difference between two materials or two layers at 550 nm is strictly greater than 0.15, these two materials or two layers are considered as having different refractive indices. When the absolute value of refractive index difference between the dielectric layer and at least one of the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer is greater than 0.15, the dielectric layer is considered as having a refractive index different from that of at least one of the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer.
[0080] Optionally, for the dielectric layer, the absolute value of the difference between its refractive index and the refractive index of at least one of the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer may be 0.3 or more, preferably 0.5 or more, more preferably 0.8 or more.
[0081] Such relatively large absolute value of reflective index difference occurs on at least one textured contacting surface in the light-transmittable multilayer film. This facilitates radiation reflection on the textured contacting surface, i.e. diffuse reflection of radiation through the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0082] As mentioned above, specular transmission on the light-transmittable multilayer film results from: two outer layers of the light-transmittable multilayer film (i.e., the glass substrate and the polymeric surface layer) having smooth main outer surfaces, and relatively low absolute value of refractive index difference among the glass substrate, the textured polymeric layer, the polymeric surface layer. Additionally, specular transmission on the light-transmittable multilayer film also results from that the textured contacting surfaces of the semi-reflective coating layer with its adjacent layers (i.e., the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer) are parallel to each other.
[0083] The parallelism of the textured contacting surfaces implies that in the direction perpendicular to the contacting surface of the semi-reflective coating layer with the textured polymeric layer, the semi-reflective coating layer has an identical thickness, i.e., the semi-reflective coating layer possess a uniformity in thickness.
[0084] Such uniformity in thickness can be universal over the entire extent of the texture or local to sections of the texture. In particular, when the texture exhibits variations in slope, the thickness between two consecutive textured contacting surfaces can change, per section, as a function of the slope of the texture, the textured contacting surfaces remain, however, always parallel to each other. This case exists in particular for a semi-reflective coating layer deposited by cathode sputtering, where the thickness of the layer decreases as the slope of the texture increases. Thus, on each texture section with a given slope, the thickness of the layer remains constant but the thickness of the layer is different between a first texture section with a first slope and a second texture section with a second slope different from the first slope. Advantageously, in order to obtain parallelism of the textured contacting surfaces in the light-transmittable multilayer film, the semi-reflective coating layer is formed by physical vapor deposition, preferably cathode sputtering deposition. Cathode sputtering, especially magnetic-field enhanced cathode sputtering, can ensure that the two textured surfaces of the semi-reflective coating layer are parallel to each other, thereby ensuring the parallelism of various textured contacting surfaces in the light-transmittable multilayer film. The parallelism of the various textured contacting surfaces in the light-transmittable multilayer film is necessary for obtaining specular transmission through the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0085] Herein, an appropriate material of the semi-reflective coating layer is beneficial for expanding applicable scenarios of display functions and improving display performance. The material of the semi-reflective coating layer herein may comprise a dielectric material, a metal material, or the like. The dielectric material according to the present disclosure may have low conductivity, preferably below 104 S / m, and optionally below 100 S / m. It may also be considered that the dielectric material has a higher electrical resistivity than metal. The dielectric material according to the present disclosure has an electrical resistivity greater than 1 ohm. cm (Ω. cm) , preferably greater than 10 (Ω. cm) , and optionally greater than 104 (Ω. cm) . The dielectric material according to the present disclosure comprises but is not limited to oxides, nitrides or halides of transition metals, non-metals or alkaline earth metals. The transition metal, non-metal or alkaline earth metal is preferably selected from silicon, titanium, tin, zinc, indium, aluminum, molybdenum, niobium, zirconium or magnesium. Preferably, the dielectric material as used herein comprises silicon nitride (SiNx) , titanium oxide (TiOx) , tin zinc oxide (SnZnOx) , aluminum silicon nitride (AlSiNx) , or the like. The metal material that can be used herein comprises but is not limited to silver (Ag) , aluminum (Al) , nickel (Ni) , chromium (Cr) or the like. The semi-reflective coating layer made from metal material can be electrically conductive.
[0086] Polymeric surface layer
[0087] The polymeric surface layer is located on a side of the semi-reflective coating layer facing away from the textured polymeric layer, which may cover the textured surface of the semi-reflective coating layer. The polymeric surface layer may serve as protective layer of the semi-reflective coating layer.
[0088] The surface of the polymeric surface layer contacting the semi-reflective coating layer is textured, and the textures of the contacting surfaces between the polymeric surface layer and the semi-reflective coating layer are complementary.
[0089] The surface of the polymeric surface layer facing away from the semi-reflective coating layer is smooth and this surface is one of the outer surfaces of the light-transmittable multilayer film. The smooth surface of the polymeric surface layer allows for specular transmission of radiation at air / polymeric surface layer interface, thereby ensuring that the radiation passes through the light-transmittable multilayer film while the direction of the radiation remains unchanged.
[0090] Herein, an appropriate material for the polymeric surface layer has good visible light transmittance and can also ensure adhesion with adjacent layers. A preferable material for the polymeric surface layer according to the present disclosure is that suitable for wet coating. For ensuring the bonding effect, a fluorine-free polymer may be used as the material of the polymeric surface layer. The material of the polymeric surface layer according to the present disclosure comprises but is not limited to one or more of polyester, polyacrylate, polycarbonate, polyurethane, polyamide, polyimide, photocrosslinkable and / or photopolymerizable resin and polythiourethane.
[0091] Preferably, the material of the polymeric surface layer is modified polyacrylate, comprising but not limited to polyurethane acrylate, polyester acrylate, epoxy acrylate, aminated acrylate or the like. Commercially available raw materials may be used to prepare the polymeric surface layer. In a specific embodiment, the material of the polymeric surface layer according to the present disclosure is modified polyacrylate purchased from Sartomer.
[0092] The use of the same material for the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer can assure absolute value of refractive index difference therebetween as low as possible, as well as similar physical and chemical properties therebetween, for example, optical properties (such as reflective index) , mechanical properties (such as elasticity, bending strength) or the like. As mentioned above, the smaller the absolute value of reflective index difference, the lower the haze of the light-transmittable multilayer film as well as the clearer the view through the light-transmittable multilayer film. Such close mechanical properties may contribute to a better match between the layers of the light-transmittable multilayer film, avoiding defects (such as unevenness, wrinkles) caused by overly significant difference in mechanical properties between the layers. The use of the same material for the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer are conducive for ensuring good transparent projection display performances.
[0093] According to actual requirements, the polymeric surface layer may be colorless or colored.
[0094] Herein, a “surface layer” does not exclude the presence of another layer outside it, for example, another layer may be present outside the polymeric surface layer, such as an anti-reflective coating.
[0095] A colored glass substrate, textured polymeric layer or polymeric surface layer may be used to satisfy the user needs, such as aesthetics and privacy. However, when the light from a projector passes through a colored layer, the light intensity will decrease and the color will change, which is not beneficial for projection effects. Accordingly, the layers that the light from a projector passes through before reaching the semi-reflective coating layer are colorless, which is conducive for achieving good projection display effects. In an embodiment, the glass substrate and the textured polymeric layer are colorless. In practical application, the orientation of the light-transmittable multilayer film is set such that the projector and the glass substrate and the textured polymeric layer are on the same side of the semi-reflective coating layer. In an embodiment, the polymeric surface layer is colorless. The orientation of the light-transmittable multilayer film is set such that the projector and the polymeric surface layer are on the same side of the semi-reflective coating layer. In an embodiment, the glass substrate, the textured polymeric layer and the polymeric surface layer are all colorless. In practical application, a projector on either side of the light-transmittable multilayer film can achieve good projection display effects, allowing flexible orientation setting of the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0096] Fig. 2 shows a schematic diagram of the transparent projection display effect achieved by the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure. Light 201 from a side of Light-transmittable multilayer film 100 passes through Light-transmittable multilayer film 100, causing diffuse reflection at the contacting surface of Semi-reflective coating layer 103 with Textured polymeric layer 102, achieving an image display effect. Light 202 from another side of Light-transmittable multilayer film 100 passes through Light-transmittable multilayer film 100 without significant deviation, forming a transparent effect.
[0097] As an example, when the light-transmittable multilayer film is used in a vehicle, Light 201 from a projector inside the vehicle can be diffusely reflected at the contacting surface of Semi-reflective coating layer 103 with Textured polymeric layer 102 of the Light-transmittable multilayer film 100, thereby allowing an image projected by the projector to be viewed by a user inside the vehicle. Ambient light 202 from outside of the vehicle can pass through Light-transmittable multilayer film 100 without significant deviation, forming a transparent effect which allows the environment outside the vehicle to be viewed by the user inside the vehicle.
[0098] It is particularly advantageous to use the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure in a windshield of a vehicle, as the light-transmittable multilayer film enables the driver of the vehicle to be notified through projection display without shifting vison from the front view of the vehicle, greatly increasing the safety.
[0099] In addition to the advantages mentioned above, the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure also has the following advantages:
[0100] The preparing process of applying micro-structuring to a conventional glass to create a textured surface involves the use of corrosive chemicals, and when the conventional glass is used in a non-planar glass assembly, it requires a hot bending treatment. Undesirable changes to the texture may occur during the hot bending process, and meanwhile such textured glass has a disadvantage in structure (such as strength) . In contrast, the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure does not require a hot bending process or a corrosion process during preparation and use with the process being simple. An ultrathin glass is used in combination with a textured polymeric layer creatively in the present disclosure to simultaneously obtain support and a textured surface. The ultrathin glass may provide support and by texturizing the polymeric layer thereon to form a textured polymeric layer, it provides a textured surface. Such combination avoids the problem of being unable to directly texturize the ultrathin glass due to its small thickness, and gives full play to the supportive and flexible characteristics of the ultrathin glass. Moreover, the present inventors found that providing a polymeric layer (such as a textured polymeric layer, a polymeric surface layer) on the surface of the ultrathin glass can provide a flexible buffering effect to the ultrathin glass, which can improve the mechanical strength of the ultrathin glass, whereby during the preparation, processing, and use of the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure, the ultrathin glass is not prone to damage. This is contrary to the traditional understanding and constitutes an inventive step of the present disclosure. The light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure shows good feasibility in large-scale applications, such as in a vehicle glass.
[0101] As compared to a polymeric material used as substrate, the ultrathin glass as substrate has a lower haze and can avoid waviness defect. In addition, when used in a glass assembly, the ultrathin glass may directly serve as the outer layer, providing sufficient mechanical strength and scratch resistance without an additional hard coating or glass sheet (see Fig. 3 below) , which is beneficial for obtaining a glass assembly with a haze as low as possible.
[0102] For a specific polymeric material, such as PET, in addition to the above advantages, the ultrathin glass used as a substrate in the present disclosure also has additional advantages: it is very possible that PET may lead to defects such as wrinkles after lamination due to its insufficient strength, while the ultrathin glass can solve this problem due to its higher strength, thereby avoiding defects such as wrinkles and increasing the yield. The adhesion between the ultrathin glass and an adhesive layer (such as ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, thermoplastic polyurethane or the like) is strong, and meanwhile the surface of ultrathin glass may also form a very strong bond with the textured polymeric layer while PET usually requires the use of corona treatment and primer process to improve the bonding effect. The higher durability of ultrathin glass compared to PET allows for an increased lifetime and a lower cost, which is particularly advantageous in vehicle window glass applications.
[0103] Method for preparing light-transmittable multilayer film
[0104] In another aspect, provided is a method for preparing the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure, comprising the following steps: providing a glass substrate; forming a textured polymeric layer on the glass substrate; forming a semi-reflective coating layer on the textured polymeric layer; and forming a polymeric surface layer on the semi-reflective coating layer to obtain the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0105] Since the glass substrate can provide a good supporting effect, it is convenient to form another layer on the glass substrate and process the layer on the glass substrate (such as performing texturizing process) , which is beneficial for forming a textured polymeric layer on the glass substrate. There is no particular limitation on the means of obtaining a textured polymeric layer herein, which may be obtained through any means. Specifically, a pre-designed texture may be formed on a surface of the textured polymeric layer by imprinting, thereby obtaining the textured surface of the textured polymeric layer. For example, nanoimprint with advantages such as high efficiency and high resolution may be used to obtain the texture. The nanoimprint technology applicable herein comprises but is not limited to UV nanoimprint, thermal nanoimprint, mold compression nanoimprint or the like. The texture may also be formed on a surface of the textured polymeric layer through transfer print technology, such as UV transfer print. In addition, a texture printer with roll to roll function may be used to effectively improve preparation efficiency.
[0106] To ensure parallelism of various textured contacting surfaces in the light-transmittable multilayer film, the semi-reflective coating layer may be formed by physical vapor deposition, preferably cathode sputtering deposition. Cathode sputtering, especially magnetic-field enhanced cathode sputtering, can ensure that the two textured surfaces of the semi-reflective coating layer are parallel to each other, thereby ensuring the parallelism of the various textured contacting surfaces in the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0107] The polymeric surface layer may be prepared through a wet coating method, including but not limited to slit coating, screen coating, blade coating, roller coating, spray coating, spin coating, screen printing or the like. A raw material for forming the polymeric surface layer (which may be that with appropriate fluidity) is applied on the semi-reflective coating layer, wherein by taking advantage of its fluidity, the raw material may sufficiently fill in the textured surface of the semi-reflective coating layer, and subsequently form the polymeric surface layer by curing, which may result in the formation of a smooth outer surface of the polymeric surface layer (i.e., one outer surface of the light-transmittable multilayer film) .
[0108] There is no particular limitation on the curing methods in the present disclosure. Common curing methods in the field may be selected according to the properties of the raw material of the polymeric surface layer as used, such as thermal curing, UV curing, electron beam curing or the like. Among them, there is almost no mass loss before and after UV curing. Forming the polymeric surface layer by UV curing causes relatively little stress on the glass substrate (such as ultrathin glass) . Moreover, UV curing may be conducted at room temperature. Based on the above properties of UV curing, formation of the polymeric surface layer through UV curing does not cause significant internal stress on the ultrathin glass, making it less prone to damage in subsequent lamination processes and also beneficial for mass production.
[0109] Glass assembly
[0110] In another aspect, provided is also a glass assembly comprising the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure.
[0111] As the first embodiment, the glass assembly may comprise the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure, a first glass sheet, and a first adhesive layer, wherein the first adhesive layer is located between the first glass sheet and the light-transmittable multilayer film.
[0112] Fig. 3 shows a specific embodiment of the glass assembly. Glass assembly 300 comprises, in sequence, First glass sheet 301, First adhesive layer 302 and Light-transmittable multilayer film 303 according to the present disclosure.
[0113] Herein, the adhesive layer may be a layer that provides sufficient adhesion and can ensure other properties of the glass assembly, such as mechanical and optical properties.
[0114] In the above glass assembly, the material of the first adhesive layer may be that commonly used in the field, including but not limited to: a thermoplastic polymer, a pressure sensitive adhesive or the like. Good adhesion effect between the layers of the glass assembly may be achieved through methods such as lamination. There is no particular limitation to the specific type of the thermoplastic polymer, the pressure sensitive adhesive in the present disclosure. Available thermoplastic polymer comprises but is not limited to ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) , thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) , polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or the like. Available pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises but is not limited to acrylate-based pressure-sensitive adhesive, silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesive, or the like.
[0115] Based on the properties of the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure (flexibility, light weight, etc. ) , the material of the first adhesive layer may be an optically clear adhesive (OCA) . Compared to other commonly used adhesive materials (such as polyvinyl butyral (PVB) , ethylene copolymer (EVA) , or the like) , using optically clear adhesive as the material of the first adhesive layer may not only simplify the preparation process, but can also provide sufficient adhesive force to firmly bond the light-transmittable multilayer film and the first glass sheet.
[0116] In an embodiment, in the above glass assembly, the polymeric surface layer is located on a side of the light-transmittable multilayer film facing towards the first adhesive layer, and the glass substrate is a chemically strengthened glass substrate. A chemically strengthened glass substrate (such as a chemically strengthened ultrathin glass) may be used directly as the outer glass with good mechanical strength and scratch resistance. As the ultrathin glass is directly used as the outer layer of glass without the need for an additional glass sheet or hard coating on the outer side of the ultrathin glass, it is possible to avoid increases in overall cost, thickness and haze of the glass assembly caused by the addition of a glass sheet or a hard coating. Such a glass assembly may be prepared through current production lines with simple processes.
[0117] Optionally, the above glass assembly may further comprise a second adhesive layer and a second glass sheet, wherein the second adhesive layer is located on a side of the first glass sheet facing away from the first adhesive layer, and the second adhesive layer is located between the first glass sheet and the second glass sheet. The material available for the second adhesive layer comprises a thermoplastic polymer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive or the like.
[0118] As the second embodiment, the glass assembly may comprise the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure, a first glass sheet, a first adhesive layer, a second glass sheet and a second adhesive layer, wherein the first adhesive layer is located between the first glass sheet and the light-transmittable multilayer film; the light-transmittable multilayer film is located between the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer; the second adhesive layer is located between the light-transmittable multilayer film and the second glass sheet.
[0119] Fig. 4 shows another specific embodiment of the glass assembly. Glass assembly 400 comprises, in sequence, First glass sheet 401, First adhesive layer 403, Light-transmittable multilayer film 405 according to the present disclosure, Second adhesive layer 404 and Second glass sheet 402.
[0120] The first glass sheet and the second glass sheet are configured such that both sides of the light-transmittable multilayer film are under the protection of glass sheet, thereby protecting the light-transmittable multilayer film from damage by exterior environment and increasing working lifetime of the glass assembly. In particular, when the light-transmittable multilayer film is used in a non-planar manner, the thickness of the glass substrate may be decreased to reduce stress on the glass substrate, wherein as the first glass sheet and the second glass sheet can provide good protection, the glass substrate comprising the first glass sheet and the second glass sheet exhibits advantages.
[0121] To provide sufficient adhesive force between the first glass sheet and the light-transmittable multilayer film, and between the second glass sheet and the light-transmittable multilayer film, an optically clear adhesive is preferably not used as the material of the first adhesive layer the second adhesive layer, as in such situation, the optically clear adhesive may not provide sufficient adhesive force, which may lead to the risk of detachment of the glass sheet. Available material for the first adhesive layer may comprise a thermoplastic polymer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive or a combination thereof. Available material for the second adhesive layer may comprise a thermoplastic polymer, a pressure-sensitive adhesive or a combination thereof. Good adhesion effect may be formed between various layers of the aforementioned glass assembly through, for example, lamination. There is no particular limitation to the specific type of the thermoplastic polymer and the pressure-sensitive adhesive.
[0122] In all glass assemblies according to the present disclosure, the first glass sheet may be a non-planar glass sheet. When a second glass sheet is present in the glass assembly according to the present disclosure, it may be a non-planar glass sheet.
[0123] Further, the non-planar glass sheet may be a curved glass sheet. The non-planar glass sheet is relative to a planar glass sheet and it includes a curved glass sheet. In addition to the curved glass sheet, the non-planar glass sheet includes other forms of non-planar glass sheets, for example, a non-planar glass sheet with a flat surface on one side and a concave surface on the other side, a non-planar glass sheet with a flat surface on one side and a convex surface on the other side, or the like. The non-planar glass sheet will be described mainly taking the curved glass sheet as an example hereinafter.
[0124] Further, the curved glass sheet may be a single-curved glass curved in one direction or a double-curved glass curved in two directions, and a radius of curvature of at least one region may be 300-5000 mm. Of course, a multi-curved glass other than the single-curved glass or double-curved glass is not excluded from the present disclosure. As the light-transmittable multilayer film (comprising an ultrathin glass) has good bendability, it can adapt to the curved surface of the curved glass sheet so that they fit together perfectly. The curvature of the glass assembly finally formed is the same as that of the curved glass sheet, i.e., the curvature of any layer in the glass assembly is the same as that of the curved glass sheet. That is, the radius of curvature of at least one region of the light-transmittable multilayer film (comprising an ultrathin glass) in the finally formed glass assembly may be 300-5000 mm.
[0125] Further, the curved glass sheet has a radius of curvature R (in mm) , the glass substrate has a Young’s modulus E (in MPa) , the glass substrate in the formed glass assembly has a bending stress σ (in MPa) , and the glass substrate has a thickness T (in mm) , where they satisfy the relationship: σ= (E*T) / (2*R) .
[0126] Advantageously, the bending stress σ may be 50 MPa or less, to prevent the ultrathin glass from cracking due to stress. Preferably, the bending stress σ may be 10 MPa or less, to further ensure structural stability of the glass substrate. More preferably, the bending stress σ may be 5 MPa or less, such that the glass substrate may be used in various applications with strict stress requirements, whereby the long-term durability of the glass substrate under low stress is ensured. For example, when σ is equal to or less than 5 MPa, (E*T) / (2*R) is equal to or less than 5, such that T is equal to or less than 10*R / E. As an example, when the glass substrate has a Young’s modulus E of 70 GPa, i.e., 70000 Mpa, if the curved glass sheet has a radius of curvature R of 300 mm, the glass substrate should have a thickness T of about 0.043 mm or less, i.e., 43 μm or less, correspondingly. That is, there is a corresponding constraint relationship between the radius of curvature R of the curved glass sheet and the thickness T of the glass substrate. In addition, it will be appreciated that when the curved glass sheet has multiple radii of curvature, the bending stress of the glass substrate corresponding to the minimum radius of curvature of the curved glass sheet should satisfy the corresponding constraint.
[0127] A glass sheet refers to a plate-shaped glass with a certain thickness, which is usually much thicker than that of the glass substrate in the present disclosure. In the present disclosure, the glass sheet may have a thickness several, or tens, or hundreds of folds over that of the glass substrate. Generally, when the glass assembly is used in a vehicle, the glass sheet may have a conventional thickness in the field, for example, 0.7-3.5 mm.
[0128] The glass assembly according to the present disclosure can be prepared by conventional methods in the art, such as sequential stacking of layers followed by laminating.
[0129] The light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure is flexible and can be well adapted to various types of surfaces (planar or non-planar) . Especially, in a non-planar glass assembly, the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure exhibits significant advantages. As the light-transmittable multilayer film has good bendability, it can adapt to the surface of the non-planar glass sheet (e.g., curved glass sheet) , so that they fit together perfectly.
[0130] Window assembly
[0131] Provided is also a window assembly comprising the glass assembly according to the present disclosure.
[0132] In an embodiment, the window assembly comprises a door, a window, a curtain wall, a vehicle window glass, an airplane glass or a ship glass. In a specific embodiment, the window assembly is a vehicle window glass, and the vehicle window glass comprises a front windshield, a rear windshield, a skylight glass, a vehicle door glass or a corner window glass.
[0133] Beneficial Effects
[0134] The light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure is capable of achieving an excellent transparent projection display function and shows the following advantages: it is flexible and can be flexibly used in planar or non-planar application scenarios; it is adaptable for the application scenario on a glass surface; view angle, transparency, imaging effect, and wavelength selectivity can be flexibly designed within a wide range by adjusting the material composition and structure of each layer of the light-transmittable multilayer film; waviness defects can be avoided when the film is used in a glass assembly; it can be prepared via appropriate adjustments to the current production line, thus showing potential low cost; and corrosive chemicals are not involved during manufacture. The glass assembly according to the present disclosure shows convenient manufacture and assembly processes and is conducive to large-scale market-oriented applications.
[0135] The glass assembly comprising the light-transmittable multilayer film according to the present disclosure is able to provide front projection display images while maintaining transparency to the external environment. It can be used to display images to passengers inside the vehicle without significantly affecting transparency.
[0136] It will be appreciated that the embodiments shown in the figures herein only show optional configurations, shapes, sizes and arrangements of the glass assembly and window assembly according to the present disclosure while they are provided only for illustration rather than limitation. Other shapes, sizes and arrangements may be adopted without departing from the concept and scope of the present disclosure.
[0137] The technical contents and technical features of the present disclosure have been disclosed above. However, it can be understood that those skilled in the art can make various changes and improvements to the above disclosed concept under the creative idea of the present disclosure, all of which fall within the protection scope of the present disclosure. The description of the above embodiments is illustrative rather than restrictive, and the protection scope of the present disclosure is determined by the claims.
