Description

DescriptionTitle of Invention:

[0001] he system of increasing the income of taxi drivers and reducing the fare by displaying advertisements to passengers and drivers.Technical Field

[0002] This invention is a mobile app to display advertisements to passengers and drivers in taxis and online taxis. In fact the present invention related to the field of information technology and transportation. Background Art

[0003] In the background, advertisements with passenger transportation vehicles, especially taxis are in the form of advertising with monitors, advertising on the taxi's top, side door advertising, full wrap advertising, and advertising on glass.

[0004] The inventions made in this field were aimed at completing and improving these advertising methods. Also, until now, none of the advertising models have been able to offer the advantage of generating income for taxi driver.

[0005] There are also patents that display ads while waiting for a trip in online-taxis or show ads in public transportation such as subways and buses based on bus and subway stops. By identifying the revenue challenges of taxi drivers, this invention has achieved a different system that all the features of this system like passenger-driver connection, display the advertisement, the beneficiaries of the advertisement, the type of vehicle are different from the patented inventions. Also, until now, none of the advertising models have been able to offer the advantage of generating income for taxi driver. Below are two of the most closely related patents to the claimed invention. 1 - (US2014050122 A1 , 20 February 2014 ) and 2- (WO / 2021 / 117067). In general, The claimed invention has many differences with these two inventions, and the innovative step of the claimed invention compared to these two inventions is several, of which we mention three: display the advertisement in real-time and based on the route of the taxi (invention 1 dose not capability to display ads in real-time, and also utility of invention 2 is only for the waiting time of the trip until the moment the driver arrives at the origin, it cannot show ads along the car's path based on the car'spath). Showing the advertisement while traveling through a mobile application, (invention 1 shows advertisements during the trip through bus stations and based on signal and telecommunication communications, and the 2 invention does not show the advertisement during the trip and only while waiting for the car to arrive it shows). Adding the taxi driver's income (neither of these two inventions directly increases the taxi driver's income). creating a completely independent and unique application for showing ads for Taxi Cab. (None of these two inventions can be implemented in Taxi Cab). In the following, the more detailed differences between the claimed invention and these two inventions are mentioned and other inventions in this field are also mentioned.

[0006] Related patents available on the WIPO and google patents website are as follows:

[0007] 1 - System and method for connecting commuters traveling on a mass transit system (US2014050122 A1 , 20 February 2014 (20 / 02 / 2014).). between this patent invention and claimed invention are some key differences as below:

[0008] (I) The difference in Title: In the claimed patent, terms such as advertising, marketing, and display of advertisement to passengers are mentioned that are the distinguishing features of the two inventions, while in the patent, terms such as commuter communication (explained below) and mass passenger system have been mentioned.

[0009] (II) The patented invention works on the basis of signal and telecommunication communication. While the claimed invention is a mobile application.

[0010] (III) Differences in the type of passengers (Ad viewer): In the title and in other parts of the patented invention, it is stated that this invention is for commuters. In the transportation science, a commuter is someone who has a repeated and constant origin and destination and it is different from the passenger. Passenger can be on a one-off journey or trip. The patented invention cannot cover people who do not have similar, repeat and regular basis travels. While the claimed invention is for all taxi passengers and it doesn't matter if the passenger passes a route only once or if his route is repeated and regular basis.

[0011] (IV) Difference in vehicle: As stated in the title of the patented invention, this invention is for the mass transportation system. Mass transportation system is any kind of transportation system in which large numbers of people are carried within a single vehicle or combination of vehicles. Airplanes, railways, buses, trolleys, light rail systems, and subways are examples of mass transportation. While the claimed invention is for taxis and online taxis. Taxis are not a mass transportation system. Taxis are not mentioned anywhere in the patented invention. On the other hand, buses, subways, trolleys, and other mass transport vehicle are not mentioned anywhere in the claimed invention. The difference between these two transportation systems requires two different models of displaying advertisements to passengers.

[0012] (V) The difference in the way of connecting and identifying the passenger's route to display the ad (advertising connection):ln the patented invention, if the commuter does not travel on the defined and usual stops, is not possible to display the ads. Because bus and subway stops are the criteria for checking and identifying the passenger's route. But in the claimed invention, because showing ads is not based on the subway or bus stops, and is based on passenger Gps matching to taxi driver, any passenger can watch the advertisement after the taxi departs.

[0013] (VI) Real-Time Advertising: In the patented invention, due to the use of the invention for people who have a common origin and destination on the bus or subway, the condition for displaying the advertisement is to predict the passenger's route and predict geotargeted advertising. (Fig .2, No.162 & 164 of patented invention). Therefore, predict the passenger's route and predict geotargeted advertising increases the possibility of error in the number of visits. Because some of the commuters may not pass the usual route or get off along the route or change their mobile number, contrary to the patent's prediction. These make the patented invention not based on real-time ads. While, in the claimed invention when an advertiser uploads ads onto a demand side platform (DSP), Ads are instantly visible. For example, an ad may have been registered by the advertiser on Saturday at 4:00 pm and passengers who are around this ad can see the ad less than 1 second from publishing and confirming the ad.

[0014] (VII) In the patented invention, none of the problems of advertising in taxis, which include distracting the driver, passengers, and pedestrians, the theft of taxi advertising monitors, and the high cost of advertising on the body and roof of the taxi, are solved. Because this invention is not for a taxis and it cannot be implemented in a taxis. But in the claimed invention, due to the introduction of a new and innovative model to show the advertisement to the passenger, these problems will be decreased.

[0015] (VIII) The patented invention has no process to increase the driver's income and reduce the cost of the trip. But the claimed invention has created a process that increases the driver's income by the amount of advertisements seen in the taxi, and also decreases taxi fare by the amount of advertisements seen by the passenger. This feature encourages drivers and passengers to use the app and increases the number of views for advertisers.

[0016] (IX) In the patented invention, there is no process for drivers and passengers to earn money as marketers. But in the claimed invention, drivers and passengers can act as virtual marketers and receive a percentage of the commission for importing advertisements for others. This commission increases the taxi driver's income and reduces the taxi fare for passengers.

[0017] 2- Another invention that is close to the claimed invention but has many differences is this invention: (WO / 2021 / 117067 - Internet taxi time-optimizer and entertainment Module). There are the following differences between this invention and the claimed invention:

[0018] (I) The patented invention is a module that is installed for Internet car applications. The way the driver communicates with the passenger in this module is according to the common way of this kind of mobiles apps. It means passenger request and acceptance of the driver. While the claimed invention is an independent application and the way of communication between the passenger and the driver is also different. In the claimed invention, the passenger does not request a trip. Rather, he gets into a taxi on the street, enters the driver's exclusive code into his application, and 15 seconds after the GPS of the two are matched, advertisements appear on the passenger's application.

[0019] (II) The display of the advertisement in the patent is only for the time when the driver arrives and is specific to the time of waiting for the trip. This invention cannot display advertisements to passengers in real time based on the vehicle's route. While the claimed invention has a different function and when the car is moving, it shows advertisements to the passenger and the driver based on the car's route.

[0020] (III) Due to the different transportation system of Non-internet taxis (taxicab), the patented invention does not have any utility for taxicab. But the claimed invention is designed in such a way that it is completely utility for taxicab.

[0021] (IV) The patented invention does not have any advantage for the driver and cannot lead to an increase in the driver's income. If the users are satisfied, this invention will lead to an increase in the income of the companies. While the model and system of the claimed invention is designed in such a way that the driver's income increases with every advertisement seen by the passengers.

[0022] (V) Considering that the patented invention is only for internet taxis, as a result, it cannot reduce the cost of fare for passengers of non-internet taxis. While in the claimed invention, the cost of fare for non-internet taxi passengers is reduced by watching advertisements.

[0023] (VI) In the patented invention, advertisements are shown only to the passenger, only while waiting for the car to arrive. But in the claimed invention, advertisements are shown to the driver in a targeted and controlled manner during the driver's free time.

[0024] 3- An invention entitled (System and Method for Mobile Advertising Configuration). This invention relates to a mobile advertising platform that helps manage advertising campaigns. This platform sends advertisements in a targeted manner according to the information input of advertising campaigns based on time, geographical location, and type of audience. The differences between this invention and the claimed invention are in the device of broadcasting and displaying the ads, the place of displaying the ads, the execution method, the model of displaying the ad, and the audience and viewers of the ad.

[0025] 4- Also, in another invention that is about advertising with the app, we can refer to the invention titled (Mobile advertising platform using QR code). Thisinvention relates to an an affiliate marketing method that can allow companies and operators that require access to sites and applications via mobile phones to create mutual benefits through a relationship with an advertiser.

[0026] 5- Another invention named (Method and system for issuing on-line advertisement on taxi) is related to presenting advertisements through radio networks and displaying the advertisement according to the passenger's taste on the monitor in the taxi. This invention is also different from my invention in terms of the platform and place of display of the advertisement and its function. The claimed invention is an app, while this invention is based on radio networks and monitors inside the taxi.

[0027] 6- Another invention called (Location-Aware Mobile Advertising) refers to smart advertisements based on mobile phones. The difference between this invention and claimed invention is that this invention is not a mobile app, nor is it related to the display of advertisements in passenger cars. Also, the viewers of the ad will not benefit from this invention, and issues such as GPS sharing between the driver and the passenger and displaying the ad during the trip to the passenger have no place in this invention.

[0028] In general, it can be said that the claimed invention is innovative and has inventive step due to features such as different model of communication between the passenger and the driver, use for taxis, display of radius-based advertisements, display of advertisements during the trip, reduction of taxi fare, and increase of taxi driver's income. Indeed, there is no independent application that can show ads as real-time during the trip in a radial way for the taxi driver and passenger and lead to an increase in the taxi driver's income and a decrease in the trip cost for the passenger.Summary of Invention

[0029] This invention is for Taxis (Taxicabs) and online-Taxis. In the claimed invention, which is a mobile app, a model of displaying advertisements to the passenger is presented, which can reduce the cost of trip for passenger and lead to increase in the taxi driver's income.

[0030] This invention has four groups of users:

[0031] 1 - Taxi driver 2- Taxi passenger 3- businesses owner 4- Marketer

[0032] The taxi driver has an exclusive app that only the driver can use. The passenger app is designed in such a way that in addition to the passenger can use it, business owners or marketers who do not use taxis can upload their ads to the passenger app. On the other hand, the driver and passenger can also upload their ads or other businesses' ads in their own app.

[0033] Advertisements are only shown to the passenger, and during the taxi trip, the passenger can see different advertisements based on the geographic location that some drivers, passengers, and businesses owner or marketers have pre- loaded into the application.

[0034] When the passenger gets into a taxi, sees a code or a QR code in the taxi, or can ask the driver for the driver's code. This code is the system's identification interface to the passenger's location to verify that the passenger is in the taxi. By entering the code and then 15 seconds after the taxi moves, the system recognizes the matching of the driver and the passenger's GPS. (Fig. 1 , No 4 ) Of course, the driver must turn on his GPS location in the mobile phone in advance so that we can access the geographical location of the passenger by considering the driver's location and then entering the driver's code in the passenger's app. These issues are mentioned on the terms and conditions screen of the app.

[0035] Also advertisements are not only shown to the passenger and the driver can also see the advertisement, but the time the advertisement is displayed to the driver can be controlled and limited. When the taxi is moving, the ads around the car's route are stored in the "unseen ads" section of the driver's application. This part is disabled when the car is moving and only when the server detects that the passenger is not in the car and the driver's code is not used, the driver can see these ads.

[0036] The claimed invention accommodates a diverse range of advertisers, including drivers, passengers, marketers, and business owners can effortlessly show their ads through the app, to passengers during taxis trip. (Fig. 1 , No. 5 )

[0037] A demand-side platform (DSP) is automated programmatic advertising software that allows advertisers to upload, order and buy ads. Rather than manually bidding for ad space across various websites, DSPs automate this process. (Fig. 2, No. 1 ). Advertisements based on the characteristics of thedisplay to the taxi passenger and the advertiser's order are exchanged between DSP and the supply-side platform (SSP) (Fig. 2, No. 2). Ad exchanges utilize a real-time bidding (RTB) protocol, whereby ads are ordered based on the radius of advertisement display, frequency of advertisement visitors, and cost per click (CPC)(Fig. 2, No. 3). SSP sends customized ads to the passenger app in taxi (Fig. 2, No. 4).

[0038] After the taxi commences its trip, Advertisements are shown on the passenger app in micro-time (Fig. 1 , No. 6) Passengers are familiar with a variety of businesses throughout their trip. And businesses owners and marketers can gain a large number of visitors. In Figure 2 there are three advertisers (A1 -A3) and four taxis (T 1 -T4). A1 , wants its ads to be published within a radius of 1 km.There are two taxis in this radius (T 1 , T2), and the passengers of these taxis who have installed the app can see the advertisement of A1 on their mobile phones. A2, wants its ads to be shown within a radius of 500 meters. In this radius, there is a T2 that is jointly within the radius of A1 and A2, in this situation, the advertisement of both A is shown to the passengers of taxi T2. A3 may be a mall or an international brand whose advertisement tends to be displayed in the whole city without being limited to a certain radius. In this situation, all passengers who are in T1 -T4 can see ads A3.

[0039] The app introduces a novel incentive system that encourages active ad interaction. Passengers are rewarded with points for viewing advertisements during their trip. These points can be converted to fare trip discount.Simultaneously, taxi drivers receive points based on the number of ads viewed by passengers or by themselves, leading to increased income or non-cash prizes (Fig. 1 , Norn. 7). The app welcomes virtual marketers as part of the advertiser group, incentivizing them with a share of the advertising commission. This encourages the active promotion of businesses through the app, fostering a vibrant and dynamic advertising ecosystem.

[0040] Features of the passenger app and how to get trip discount:

[0041] The passenger app is not only for passengers. Virtual marketers and business owners who may not use taxis can also use the passenger app. But the only use of the app for these people is to upload their own ads or others app. Whilepassengers can use all the features of the app which are explained below. Passenger after installing the app and viewing the splash and accepting the terms and conditions, register his mobile number and create a credit account on the log-in screen. This credit account is not a bank account, it is an account like a wallet where passenger points are calculated and displayed. (Fig. 3, No. 1 & 1 A). On the other hand, the marketer can register her bank account in the app. (Fig. 3, No. 1 B).

[0042] After registration, passenger or marketer see the home screen, which has four buttons.

[0043] The first is the Button "driver code"(Fig: 3, No: 2). In this section, the passenger enters the driver's code, which is on a sheet in the taxi, or is a QR code. After entering the driver's code, the system identifies the passenger's geographic location according to the driver's geographic location that must be turned on. By moving the taxi and confirming that the geographical location of the passenger is matched with the driver, the advertisements that have already been uploaded by advertisers on their app will be shown to the passenger.

[0044] The passenger by clicking on the "View Ads" button and clicking and viewing each ad that is shown on the app can earn points (Fig: 3, No: 3).These points, as will explain later, lead to discounts on taxi fares. (Fig. 4)

[0045] In the "Marketing and Earn money button", the passenger can upload his or others' ads on the app. These ads are published to other passengers in the taxis who are traveling around these ad places. (Fig. 3, No. 4) If the passenger has his own business, he can upload his ads by clicking on the “My Business” button (Fig. 3, No. 4A), and after importing the specifications and price of the product and the geographic location of the business and paying the money, these advertisements are published on the app of other passengers in different taxis.

[0046] If the passenger is not a business owner, he can work as a marketer and earn money. In this case, after clicking on the "People Business" button (Fig. 3, No. 4B) and going through all the above steps, the amount of the passenger's marketing commission will be dedicated as fare discount. (Fig. 3, No. 4C) For example, if the passenger's marketing commission is 5 dollars, this 5 dollars will be kept as a credit in the credit account created in screen 1 A of this figure, andthe passenger will have a discount on the fare on his next trip. If the passenger's next trip is 5 dollars, this 5 dollars will be transferred from the credit of the passenger's account to the driver's bank account, and the passenger will not pay any more fare. But if the marketer is a person who does not use a taxi, the marketing commission will be deposited into the bank account registered in the log-in in screen 1 B of this figure. (Fig. 3, No. 4D)

[0047] The passenger can also click on the "My Ads" button to see the number of ads views that he has registered for himself or others. (Fig. 3, No. 5)

[0048] Activating the "View ads" button requires entering the driver's code, and also the taxi movement, and matching the driver's and passenger's GPS. But the activation of other buttons does not require entering the driver's code and can be checked at any time.

[0049] Trip discount system for passengers:

[0050] The passenger earns points according to the number of advertisements he sees in the taxi, and these points are allocated to the passenger as a discount on the fare trip. Figure 4 makes the passenger discount system clearer. For example, it is assumed that seeing every 5 ads during the trip is worth $1 , and $1 is awarded to the passenger. This $1 is given to the passenger from a portion of the ad commission received from advertisers. After installing the mobile app, the passenger starts trip 1 . (Fig.4, No.1) The passenger's point at the beginning of the trip is 0. During this trip, the passenger sees 5 ads, which causes the passenger to receive 1 credit on the passenger's credit account. (Fig.4, No.2)

[0051] Before the beginning of the second trip, the passenger has 1 credit, which is equal to 1 dollar (Fig.4, No.3), and on the second trip, he sees 5 ads, and 1 credit is added to the passenger's points. At the end of the second trip, the passenger has 2 credits, which is equal to 2 dollars, on his credit screen (Fig.4, No.4).

[0052] The default is that until the passenger's credit reaches more than 2, which is equal to more than 2 dollars, the passenger discount will not be given to him. For this reason, at the end of the first and second trips, he must pay the entire fare to the taxi driver himself (Fig. 4, No. 5).

[0053] Now, on the third trip, the passenger has 2 credits, which is equal to 2 dollars, and starts his trip. During this trip, the passenger sees 10 ads, and 2 credits areadded to his credit. At the end of the third trip, the passenger has 4 credits on his credit account, which is equal to 4 dollars (Fig. 4, Nom. 6). The taxi fare at the end of the third trip is $5. The system will transfer $4 out of the $5 saved in the credit account (Fig. 4, Nom. 7). In fact, by identifying and previously connecting the passenger's app to the driver's app through GPS, the system has two connected applications that can transfer the fare from the passenger's credit account to the driver's bank account. In the example above, $4 is transferred to the bank account the driver registered on the log-in screen. (Fig. 5, No. 1 A), and the passenger pays to driver only $1 for this trip. (Fig. 4, No. 8)

[0054] Driver's earning model:

[0055] The driver has a dedicated mobile app that after installing the app and viewing the splash and accepting the terms and conditions, he enters his mobile number and bank account on the log-in screen. (Fig. 5, No. 1 ) After registration, he enters the home page, which has three buttons.

[0056] The first is the Button “unseen ads". (Fig. 5, No. 5) This feature is active when no passenger has entered the driver code and the driver is not driving. In this section, the advertisement of the driver's route is stored on this button, and when no passenger has entered the driver's code, this section can be displayed to the driver. By clicking on this button, the driver can see the advertisements of his route and earn points by seeing each advertisement and ultimately his income will increase. As soon as the passenger gets into the car and enters the driver's code or scans the QR code, this part is deactivated.

[0057] In the "Marketing and Earn money button", the driver can upload his or others' ads on the app so that these ads are published to other passengers in the taxis who are traveling around these ad places. (Fig. 5, No. 2). If the driver has his own business, he can upload his ads by clicking on the “My Business” button (Fig. 5, No. 2A), and after registering the specifications and price of the product and the geographic location of the business and paying the money, the details of the advertisement are shown on the app of other passengers in different taxis.

[0058] If the driver is not a business owner, he can work as a marketer and earn money. In this case, after clicking on the "People Business" button (Fig. 5, No. 2B) and going through all the above steps, the amount of the driver's marketingcommission will be deposited into the bank account that he entered in the log-in screen. (Fig. 5, No. 2C & 1 A)

[0059] The next button is “My Points”. The driver can see the number of his points in this section. (Fig. 5, No. 3) How to earn points and increase the driver's income is as follows:

[0060] After the passenger enters the taxi and registers the driver's code in his app and a few seconds after the taxi departs, the geographic location of the passenger and the driver will be connected. (Fig. 6, No.1 -4) After connecting the GPS of the passenger and the driver, according to the position of the driver and according to the advertisements that the businesses and marketers have already uploaded on the app, advertisements will be published to the passenger app. (Fig. 6, No. 5) The passenger starts seeing the advertisement on his mobile phone (Fig. 6, No. 6). According to the number of ads seen by the passenger in the taxi, the driver earns points (Fig. 6, No. 7). These points are deposited in the form of a cash prize in the bank account that the driver entered in the log-in screen at the beginning. Or these points are given to the driver in the form of discount codes from different stores. (Fig. 6, No. 8) The amount of these points is shown to the driver on a daily basis in “My Point” button. (Fig. 5, No. 3)

[0061] The driver can also click on the "My Ads" button to see the number of ad views that he has registered for himself or others. (Fig. 5, No. 4)Technical Problem

[0062] One of the most important challenges of municipalities in almost all the world is the unfavorable financial conditions of taxi drivers. In the last few years, many cities of the world including New York, Toronto, Barcelona, Seoul, Cape Town, and other cities of the world have witnessed massive demonstrations of taxi drivers. Municipalities' support programs to increase the income of taxi drivers have all been temporary and none of them have been able to solve the problem of the drivers' income. For example, the municipality of Quebec allocated a support package of 500 million dollars to support the drivers, which failed because it could not lead to a sustainable income for taxi drivers. According to the available statistics, the income of drivers is lower than the average income of other occupations almost all over the world, for example: The average taxidriver's salary in Canada is $34,063 per year. The average annual salary in Canada in 2021 was $59,300. The average salary for a Taxi Driver in India is ?2, 10,000 per year. The average salary in India is ?3,87,500 per year. The average salary range for a Taxi Driver in Germany is between €24,184 and €36,879. According to Statista, in 2021 , the average gross annual salary in Germany was €47.700 a year. The average taxi driver salary in the USA is $33,150 per year. According to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the annual mean wage for a full-time wage or salary worker in the United States is $53,490 per year. These statistics show the unfavorable income conditions of taxi drivers.

[0063] On the other hand, taxi is considered a great capacity to show advertisements. Currently, advertising companies who want to use passenger transportation vehicles, especially taxis for advertising can do their advertising in several ways. These methods include advertising with monitors, advertising on taxi's top, side door advertising, full wrap advertising and advertising on glass, each of which has problems. These problems include reducing the beauty of the city, distracting the pedestrians and drivers around these cars and increasing the number of accidents, the high cost of advertising on the body of these cars, increasing the thieves in these cars with the aim of stealing the monitors installed in the car and also lack of Having enough incentive for citizens and passenger to watch these advertisements. Moreover, the failure of billboard or the need for a car wiring system to display monitors and billboards on the roof are other common problems of advertising on the body or inside of these cars. These are the problems caused by the common models of advertising with the taxi.Solution to Problem

[0064] By recognizing the problems and challenges of the aforementioned advertising methods, the claimed invention can provide a different and new model of advertising by passenger taxi that have three principles of being new at the global level, an innovative step, and industrial application. In this invention, advertisements are shown to the passenger on the application. Without the need to wire the car or install a billboard on the taxi or the high costs of the monitor inside the taxi, the passenger can see various advertisements in the app just by installing the app. Some of these advertisements are displayed in GPS-orientedform. This is an advantage that the passenger can see the businesses he needs on his way from home to work or different destinations. Also, other advertising companies do not spend a lot of money on installing billboards or designing advertisements on the body.

[0065] Another problem that this invention will solve is the income of taxi drivers and taxi fares for passengers. This application defines a virtual and sustainable job for the driver's to increase the income. In fact, the driver and the car are used as marketers in this mobile app, as the taxi moves in different directions, this marketing happens and makes the passenger see advertisements on his mobile phone. With this method, this app can improve the challenge of low income drivers.Advantageous Effects of Invention

[0066] This invention has advantages for four groups:

[0067] • Taxi drivers:

[0068] Increasing the driver's income in three ways:

[0069] 1 - Increasing the driver's income by allocating the advertisement commission in proportion to the number of advertisements seen by the passengers in the taxi

[0070] 2- Increasing the driver's income through virtual marketing

[0071] 3- An indirect increase in the driver's income due to the taxi becoming more attractive to passengers and the increase in the number of travel requests.

[0072] *Taxi passengers:
