Abstract
Description
Audio device, program, and audio device control method
[0001] The present invention relates to an audio device, a program, and a method for controlling an audio device.
[0002] When a DJ (Disc Jockey) operates sound equipment such as a DJ controller, a computer, etc. to perform a DJ performance, he or she must carry out advance preparations known as pre-preparation work. Pre-preparation work includes tasks such as selecting songs, analyzing song data (detecting BPM and keys, detecting and adjusting beat positions, setting cue points, etc.), and checking compatibility between multiple songs. For example, Non-Patent Document 1 discloses an application that allows pre-preparation work to be performed on both a computer and a mobile device.

[0004] Although the preparation work described above is done in advance, there are cases where a DJ wants to use music that has not been prepared in advance during a performance. For example, this could be a song that has been requested by the audience but that the DJ has not prepared in advance, or a song that the DJ came up with during a performance but that has not been prepared in advance.
[0005] The present invention aims to solve at least part of the above problems, and one of its objectives is to provide an audio device, a program, and a method for controlling an audio device that can meet user requests regarding the use of music in real time without requiring any advance preparation.
[0006] The audio device of the present invention comprises a receiving unit that receives audio data, a recording unit that temporarily stores the received audio data, a playback unit that plays back the audio data, and an analysis unit that, in parallel with storing the audio data in the recording unit, analyzes the audio data stored in the recording unit for information to be used in DJ performances.
[0007] Another audio device according to the present invention comprises a receiving unit that receives audio data, a recording unit that temporarily stores the received audio data, a playback unit that plays back the audio data, and a playback control unit that controls at least one of the playback position, playback speed, and playback direction when the audio data stored in the recording unit is played back by the playback unit.
[0008] A program according to the present invention is configured to cause a computer to function as the above-described audio device.
[0009] The control method of the present invention includes the steps of receiving audio data, temporarily storing the received audio data, playing the audio data, and, in parallel with storing the audio data, analyzing the stored audio data for information to be used in DJ performance.

[0011] An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. [System Overview] Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of a system 1 according to this embodiment. As shown in Fig. 1, the system 1 according to this embodiment includes an audio device 10 and a terminal device 30A. The audio device 10 is an audio device that can be connected to the terminal device 30A via an internet communication network or wirelessly so as to be able to communicate with the terminal device 30A.
[0012] The terminal device 30A is configured by a smartphone, tablet terminal, computer, etc., and can be connected to the audio device 10 via an internet communication network or wirelessly so that they can communicate with each other. In the example of Figure 1, one terminal device (terminal device 30A) is shown as an example for the purpose of explanation, but two or more terminal devices can be connected to the audio device 10 so that they can communicate with each other.
[0013] In the system 1, when the audio device 10 receives audio data from the terminal device 30A, it can record and play back the received audio data.
[0014] The system 1 described above can accommodate requests to use music that has not been prepared in advance on the audio device 10. For example, if the user of the audio device 10 is a DJ, there may be cases where a music requested by an audience member but not prepared by the DJ, or a music that the DJ came up with during a DJ performance but has not been prepared in advance, is received from the terminal device 30A and used on the audio device 10. Similar cases may also occur at gatherings such as home parties.
[0015] 1, the acoustic device 10 includes a control unit 11, a communication unit 12, an operation unit 13, a display unit 14, and an audio output unit 15. The control unit 11 is implemented in the acoustic device 10 by, for example, a communication interface, a processor such as a CPU (Central Processing Unit), and a memory that serves as a working area, and controls the operation of each unit of the acoustic device 10. The control unit 11 includes a recording unit 111, a playback unit 112, an analysis unit 113, and a playback control unit 114 that are realized by the processor operating in accordance with a program stored in the memory or received via the communication interface.
[0016] The recording unit 111 includes a buffer memory and temporarily stores the audio data received by the communication unit 12. The audio data stored by the recording unit 111 is read out at any time and used by the playback unit 112 and the analysis unit 113.
[0017] The playback unit 112 plays back the audio data stored by the recording unit 111 or the audio data received by the communication unit 12 .
[0018] The analysis unit 113 analyzes information used in DJ performances. More specifically, the analysis unit 113 analyzes the audio data, for example, regarding the speed and waveform of the music indicated by the audio data. The analysis unit 113 analyzes beat position information, bar position information, and development change points, etc., in the music indicated by the audio data. The analysis of the music is performed based on existing music analysis technology. For example, the analysis unit 113 detects the sound of a specific instrument to acquire beat position information and bar position information of the music data. Furthermore, the analysis unit 113 determines development change points in the music based on the analysis results of the beat position information, the similarity of pronunciation patterns, etc. Development change points correspond to, for example, the beginning of the A melody, B melody, chorus, etc. of the music, and can be referenced as the development structure of the music.
[0019] The analysis unit 113 may also divide the audio data into multiple frequency bands, for example, three frequency bands: a high frequency band, a medium frequency band, and a low frequency band. Here, the high frequency band is, for example, a frequency band of 4649 Hz or higher. The medium frequency band is, for example, a frequency band above 284 Hz but below 4649 Hz. The low frequency band is, for example, a frequency band of 284 Hz or lower.
[0020] The above-described analysis items are merely examples, and the analysis unit 113 may be configured to perform analysis on analysis items other than those described above. Furthermore, the analysis items performed by the analysis unit 113 may be configured to be user-configurable.
[0021] The playback control unit 114 controls at least one of the playback position, playback speed, and playback direction when the playback unit 112 plays back audio data. The playback control unit 114 controls the playback unit 112 based on a user operation via the operation unit 13, thereby controlling the playback of the audio data. The function and operation of each unit of the control unit 11 will be described in detail later.
[0022] The communication unit 12 can be connected to the terminal device 30A via the Internet or wirelessly so as to be able to communicate with each other. The communication unit 12 may execute wireless communication such as Bluetooth (registered trademark), Wi-Fi, or WUSB (Wireless USB), or may execute wired communication such as LAN (Local Area Network) or USB (Universal Serial Bus) instead of or in addition to wireless communication.
[0023] The operation unit 13 accepts user operations via various operators, a touch panel, etc., and supplies operation signals indicating the user operations to the control unit 11. The operation unit 13 includes, for example, a jog dial, a tempo slider, a performance pad (a general-purpose operator to which various functions related to playback control can be assigned), operators related to effect processing, a channel fader, etc.
[0024] The display unit 14 may include a monitor such as an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) or an organic EL monitor, and may display images to present various information to the user. The surface of the display unit 14 may include a touch panel that detects contact, and may function as part of the operation unit 13.
[0025] The audio output unit 15 includes an audio output terminal such as a speaker terminal or a headphone terminal, and outputs the audio data reproduced by the reproduction unit 112 as audio information.
[0026] [General Configuration of Terminal Device 30A] The terminal device 30A has an arbitrary music playback application. The music playback application may be downloaded or installed on each terminal, or may function on a browser. As shown in FIG. 1 , the terminal device 30A includes a control unit 31A and a communication unit 32A. The control unit 31A is implemented in the terminal device 30A by, for example, a communication interface, a processor such as a CPU, and memory that serves as a working area, and controls the operation of each unit of the terminal device 30A.
[0027] The communication unit 32A can be connected to the acoustic device 10 via the Internet or wirelessly, similar to the communication unit 12 of the acoustic device 10, so as to be able to communicate with each other. The communication unit 32A may perform wireless communication similar to that of the communication unit 12 of the acoustic device 10, or may perform wired communication instead of or in addition to wireless communication.
[0028] 2 is a flowchart showing the processing executed by the control unit 11 of the acoustic device 10. When the control unit 11 determines that audio data has been received from the terminal device 30A via the communication unit 12 (YES in step S101), the recording unit 111 records the received audio data (step S102).
[0029] Then, when the control unit 11 determines that the duration of the audio data stored by the recording unit 111 is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value Th0 (YES in step S103), the analysis unit 113 analyzes the audio data (step S104), the playback unit 112 plays back the audio data (step S105), and the display unit 14 displays the analysis result (step S106).
[0030] [Receiving Audio Data] Regarding the reception of audio data in step S101, a pairing process is performed in advance between the communication unit 12 of the audio device 10 and the communication unit 32A of the terminal device 30A. Once the pairing process is performed, the audio device 10 and the terminal device 30A can communicate with each other. Details of the pairing process are similar to those of known technology, and therefore will not be described here. Furthermore, the terminal device 30A transmits audio data based on a normal playback instruction from any music playback application that the terminal device 30A has.
[0031] [Recording of Audio Data] With regard to recording of audio data in step S102, the recording unit 111 temporarily stores the audio data in a buffer memory. An upper limit may be set for the storage capacity of the recording unit 111. For example, when the amount of recorded audio data reaches the upper limit of the storage capacity, the audio data may be sequentially overwritten starting with the oldest. Furthermore, the audio data temporarily stored in the recording unit 111 may be erased when the audio device 10 is powered off or at a timing specified by the user.
[0032] [Determining the duration of audio data] Regarding the determination of the duration of audio data in step S103, the threshold value Th0 is the duration necessary for playback in the audio device 10, that is, the duration necessary for playback processing when playing back audio data in the playback unit 112 of the audio device 10. Note that the threshold value Th0 may be determined based on the amount of data instead of the duration.
[0033] [Analysis of Audio Data] Regarding the analysis of audio data in step S104, the analysis unit 113 analyzes the audio data saved by the recording unit 111 as described above. Conventionally, music analysis is performed on the entire music piece or the entire audio data of a part of a music piece. However, the analysis unit 113 of the acoustic device 10 performs analysis in real time following the saving of the audio data in the recording unit 111, in parallel with the recording (saving) of the audio data. The analysis of audio data in the analysis unit 113 includes the following two methods.
[0034] The first method is a method in which, every time a predetermined time has elapsed, an analysis is performed based on the audio data stored in the recording unit 111 within the predetermined time. Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram illustrating the analysis performed by the analysis unit 113 of the acoustic device 10. As shown in Fig. 3, the analysis unit 113 performs an analysis based on the audio data stored in the recording unit 111 within the predetermined time. 0 From T 1 Analysis R(T 1 Similarly, the analysis unit 113 executes 1 From T 2 Analysis R(T 2) and at time T 2 From T 3 Analysis R(T 3 ) is executed thereafter in the same manner. X-1 From T X Analysis R(T X ) to execute the command.
[0035] In the first method, the length of the predetermined time may be constant or may vary partially. The length of the predetermined time may be user-specifiable. Instead of the length of the predetermined time, the timing of analysis may be determined based on the amount of data. The first method has a low processing load because the data length of the speech data to be analyzed is relatively short. Therefore, it is advantageous in terms of real-time performance.
[0036] Note that time T 1 The audio data is stored in the recording unit 111 at time T 0 The start time is the time when a predetermined time has elapsed since the start of saving the audio data in the recording unit 111. At the time when saving of the audio data in the recording unit 111 starts, there is not enough data available for the analysis unit 113 to analyze the audio data. Therefore, the analysis unit 113 starts the analysis when the saving of the audio data in the recording unit 111 satisfies a predetermined condition. In other words, the analysis unit 113 starts analyzing the audio data not simultaneously with the saving of the audio data in the recording unit 111, but from the time when a predetermined time has elapsed since the saving of the audio data in the recording unit 111 started. Note that the predetermined condition for starting the analysis of the audio data may be determined based on the amount of data, etc., instead of the time length.
[0037] The second method is a method of performing analysis at a predetermined timing based on a series of audio data stored in the recording unit 111. Fig. 4 is another schematic diagram illustrating the analysis by the analysis unit 113 of the acoustic device 10. As shown in Fig. 4, the analysis unit 113 performs analysis at a time T 0 From T 1 Analysis R(T 0 -T1 Next, the analysis unit 113 executes 0 From T 2 Analysis R(T 0 -T 2 Similarly, the analysis unit 113 executes 0 From T 3 Analysis R(T 0 -T 3 ) is executed. After that, the analysis unit 113 executes 0 From T X Analysis R(T 0 -T X ) to execute the command.
[0038] In the second method, the time interval of the predetermined timing may be constant or may vary partially. The time interval of the predetermined timing may be configured to be user-specifiable. Instead of a time interval, the timing of analysis may be determined based on the amount of data. The second method is advantageous in terms of analysis accuracy because the amount of voice data to be analyzed is relatively large.
[0039] Note that time T 1 As with the first technique, this is the time when a predetermined time has elapsed since the recording unit 111 started saving the audio data, and is the time when the analysis unit 113 starts analyzing the audio data.
[0040] Regarding the analysis of the voice data described above, the analysis unit 113 may be configured to execute only one of the two methods, to selectively execute the two methods, or to execute the two methods complementarily. For example, when the voice data is short in duration or the amount of data is small, the analysis unit 113 may be configured to perform analysis using the first method, and after a certain amount of time has passed, when the voice data has a sufficient duration and amount of data, to perform analysis using the second method.
[0041] The analyzer 113 may be configured to execute two methods complementarily depending on the duration and amount of audio data required for analysis. For example, the analyzer 113 may be configured to perform analysis using the first method for analysis items requiring a relatively short duration or a relatively small amount of audio data, and to perform analysis using the second method for analysis items requiring a relatively long duration or a relatively large amount of audio data.
[0042] The analysis unit 113 may be configured to execute two methods in a complementary manner depending on the characteristics required for the analysis items. For example, the analysis unit 113 may be configured to perform analysis using the first method for analysis items that require high real-time performance, and to perform analysis using the second method for analysis items that require high analysis accuracy. [Reproduction of audio data]
[0043] Regarding the playback of the audio data in step S105, the playback of the audio data in step S105 may be suspended until the analysis of the audio data in step S104 has progressed to a certain extent. For example, by suspending the playback of the audio data in step S105 for a predetermined time until the analysis of the audio data in step S104 has progressed to a certain extent and the analysis results can be displayed in step S106, it becomes possible to start the playback of the audio data in step S105 and the display of the analysis results in step S106 simultaneously. The above-mentioned predetermined time may be a fixed time determined empirically, or may be a time based on a predetermined factor indicating the degree of progress of the analysis.
[0044] Furthermore, the audio data to be played back by the playback unit 112 may be audio data stored in the recording unit 111, or may be audio data received by the communication unit 12. In the former case, time shifting is possible by playing back audio data stored in the recording unit 111 by the playback unit 112, and so-called DJ operation is possible, in which the playback position, playback speed, and playback direction are controlled according to control by the playback control unit 114. In the latter case, by playing back audio data received by the communication unit 12 by the playback unit 112, the audio data of the music played back by the terminal device 30A is played back by the sound device 10 without delay, similar to a commonly known wireless speaker. [Display of Analysis Results]
[0045] Regarding the display of the analysis results in step S106, the display unit 14 displays the analysis results by the analysis unit 113 as described above. FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram illustrating the display of the analysis results by the display unit 14 of the acoustic device 10. As shown in FIG. 5, the display unit 14 displays the analysis results including the music speed and music waveform indicated by the audio data. In the example of FIG. 5, a music waveform 14A, beat positions 14B, and BPM information 14C are displayed. FIG. 5 is an example of the display of the analysis results, and is not limited to this example. The display unit 14 displays the analysis results according to the analysis items by the analysis unit 113.
[0046] Conventionally, analysis results are displayed for the entire piece of music for which analysis has been completed in advance, or for the entire audio data of a portion of music, and the display is updated according to the progress of playback, etc. However, the display unit 14 of the acoustic device 10 displays the results in real time as the audio data is saved in the recording unit 111 and as the audio data is analyzed by the analysis unit 113. The display of the analysis results by the display unit 14 differs depending on the method used to analyze the audio data by the analysis unit 113 described above.
[0047] When the analysis unit 113 performs analysis using the first method, each time a predetermined time elapses, analysis is performed based on the audio data stored in the recording unit 111 within the predetermined time. Figure 6 is another schematic diagram illustrating the display of the analysis results on the display unit 14 of the acoustic device 10. The times in Figure 6 correspond to the times in Figure 3.
[0048] As shown in FIG. 6, the display unit 14 displays the time T 1 In the analysis, R(T 1 ) based on the analysis result W(T 1 Next, the display unit 14 displays the time T 2 In this case, the analysis result W(T 1 ) plus analytical R(T 2 ) based on the analysis result W(T 2 ) is displayed. After that, the display unit 14 similarly displays the time T 3 In the analysis result W(T 3 ) and time T X In the analysis result W(T X ) to see more.
[0049] When the analysis unit 113 performs the analysis using the first method, the display on the display unit 14 is updated by gradually adding the analysis results along the time axis.
[0050] When the analysis unit 113 performs analysis using the second method, the analysis is performed at a predetermined timing based on a series of audio data stored in the recording unit 111. Figure 7 is a schematic diagram illustrating the display of the analysis results on the display unit 14 of the acoustic device 10. The times in Figure 7 correspond to the times in Figure 4.
[0051] As shown in FIG. 7, the display unit 14 displays the time T 1 In the analysis, R(T 0 -T 1 ) based on the analysis result W(T 0 -T 1 ) is displayed. That is, the display unit 14 displays the time T 0 From T 1 Next, the display unit 14 displays the analysis results for the series of voice data stored in the recording unit 111 up to the time T2 In the analysis, R(T 0 -T 2 ) based on the analysis result W(T 0 -T 2 Similarly, the display unit 14 displays the time T 3 In the analysis, R(T 0 -T 3 ) based on the analysis result W(T 0 -T 3 ) is displayed. After that, the display unit 14 displays the time T X In the analysis, R(T 0 -T X ) based on the analysis result W(T 0 -T X ) to display.
[0052] When the analysis unit 113 performs the analysis using the second method, the display on the display unit 14 is updated so that the length of the analysis result itself in the time axis direction is extended.
[0053] Regarding the display of the analysis results described above, the display unit 14 may be configured to optimize the display depending on the analysis method used by the analysis unit 113. For example, when the analysis performed by the analysis unit 113 changes from the first method to the second method, or when the analysis performed by the analysis unit 113 changes from the second method to the first method, the display unit 14 may switch the display method as described above depending on the analysis method used by the analysis unit 113.
[0054] Also, for example, when the analysis by the analysis unit 113 is performed complementarily using the first method and the second method, the display unit 14 may change the display method as described above depending on the analysis method for each analysis item.
[0055] Furthermore, when the analysis unit 113 divides the audio data into multiple frequency bands, the display unit 14 may display each of the multiple frequency bands in a different display format. Examples of the display format include the type of display color, the shade of the display color, color display or monochrome display, the type of background color, the shade of the background color, the presence or absence of a background color, a blinking pattern, blinking or non-blinking, etc. For example, as shown in FIG. 8 , when the analysis unit 113 divides the audio data into a high-frequency band, a mid-frequency band, and a low-frequency band, the display unit 14 may display the waveforms of each frequency band in a different display format. By displaying the audio data in this manner, the user can intuitively grasp the characteristics of the music.
[0056] [Overall Processing in Sound Device 10] As described above, sound device 10 receives audio data, temporarily stores the received audio data using recording unit 111, and, in parallel with storing the audio data in recording unit 111, analyzes information to be used for DJ performance for the audio data stored in recording unit 111 using analysis unit 113. Sound device 10 also includes a playback control unit 114 that controls at least one of the playback position, playback speed, and playback direction when playing back the audio data stored in recording unit 111 using playback unit 112, and a display unit 14 that displays based on the analysis results by analysis unit 113.
[0057] Therefore, the user can record audio data on the audio device 10 simply by receiving the audio data from the terminal device 30A using the audio device 10. Furthermore, in the audio device 10, the analysis unit 113 analyzes the recorded audio data as needed, following and parallel to the saving of the audio data, and the analysis results are updated and displayed as needed. This allows the user to use the audio data without waiting for the completion of recording. More specifically, the user can intuitively grasp the characteristics of the music from the display on the display unit 14, and can control playback using the playback control unit 114.
[0058] Effects of the Embodiment The acoustic device 10 according to the embodiment described above includes a recording unit 111 that receives audio data and temporarily stores the received audio data, a playback unit 112 that plays back the audio data, and an analysis unit 113 that analyzes the audio data stored in the recording unit 111 for information to be used in DJ performances, in parallel with the storage of the audio data in the recording unit 111. With this configuration, even for songs for which advance preparation has not been performed, the audio data can be received from the terminal device 30A and temporarily stored, and the audio data can be analyzed for information to be used in DJ performances, thereby enabling the processing corresponding to advance preparation to be performed promptly at the desired timing. This makes it possible to meet user requests for using songs in real time, without the need for advance preparation.
[0059] In particular, songs requested by the audience but not prepared by the DJ in advance, or songs that the DJ himself comes up with during a DJ performance, can be made available in real time, providing high immediacy and flexibility, making it particularly useful in situations that require improvisation, such as DJ performances. In addition, since songs can be used without waiting for the recording to be completed, songs can be used with high immediacy without interrupting playback.
[0060] Furthermore, in the acoustic device 10 according to the present embodiment, the analysis unit 113 analyzes at least one of the speed and waveform of the music indicated by the audio data as information to be used in the DJ performance. This configuration allows the user to quickly and intuitively grasp the characteristics of a music piece even if the user has not made any prior preparations for the music piece.
[0061] Furthermore, in the acoustic device 10 according to this embodiment, the analysis unit 113 divides the audio data into multiple frequency bands. This configuration allows the user to quickly and intuitively grasp the frequency band structure of a piece of music, even if the user has not made any prior preparations for the music.
[0062] Furthermore, in the acoustic device 10 according to this embodiment, the analysis unit 113 executes analysis at a predetermined timing based on the audio data stored in the recording unit 111. Therefore, even if the audio data for the entire song is not yet available, the analysis can be executed in real time in response to the audio data being stored in the recording unit 111.
[0063] Furthermore, the acoustic device 10 according to this embodiment further includes a display unit 14 that displays the analysis results obtained by the analysis unit 113. This allows the user to quickly and intuitively grasp the characteristics of a piece of music, even if the piece of music has not been prepared in advance. Furthermore, by visually checking the analysis results displayed by the display unit 14, the user can grasp the approximate progress of the recording performed by the recording unit 111.
[0064] Furthermore, the acoustic device 10 according to this embodiment further includes a playback control unit 114 that controls at least one of the playback position, playback speed, and playback direction when the audio data stored in the recording unit 111 is played back by the playback unit 112. This allows the user to use music in real time, which is highly immediacy and flexible and is particularly useful for DJ performances.
[0065] [Modifications of the Embodiments] The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and the present invention includes modifications and improvements within the scope of achieving the object of the present invention.
[0066] In the above embodiment, an example was shown in which the analysis unit 113 analyzed the audio data, but the audio device 10 may be configured not to include the analysis unit 113. That is, the audio data may be received and temporarily stored by the recording unit 111, and when the audio data stored in the recording unit 111 is played by the playback unit 112, the playback control unit 114 may control at least one of the playback position, playback speed, and playback direction. With this configuration, even for songs for which no advance preparation has been made, the audio data may be received from the terminal device 30A and temporarily stored, thereby enabling the song to be used in real time without the need for advance preparation. This provides high immediacy and flexibility, and is particularly useful for DJ performances.
[0067] In the above embodiment, an example was shown in which received audio data was temporarily stored by the recording unit 111, but the present invention is not limited to this example. For example, the audio data temporarily stored by the recording unit 111 may be recorded as a file for each song or for each predetermined condition. Furthermore, the analysis results by the analysis unit 113 may be recorded in association with each other, or a playlist may be created based on the recorded files.
[0068] However, if the music playback application of the terminal device 30A requires authentication information, it is desirable that the audio device 10 be configured to allow file recording only when authentication processing using the authentication information is possible. For example, when a user of the audio device 10 uses the terminal device 30A that the user owns, such authentication information is guaranteed.
[0069] Furthermore, the audio device having the above-described functions is not limited to the examples described in the above embodiments, and the present invention may be applied to, for example, a computer that executes an application, a smartphone, or a tablet terminal.
[0070] [Summary of the Invention] The summary of the invention is as follows.
