Description

Automobile door corner structure

[0001] The present invention relates to a corner structure of an automobile door, in which a glass run having a decorative molding material is attached to the exterior side of the vehicle.

[0002] 8 and 9, a so-called hidden-type glass run 10 is attached to the frame 2 of an automobile door (front door in this case) 1. This glass run 10 is attached to a flange 2A of the frame 2 that extends from the inside of the vehicle toward the outside of the vehicle so as to cover and conceal the frame 2 from the outside of the vehicle, and an attachment portion 11 attached to the flange 2A and a main body portion 12 that guides the door glass G into a groove as it moves up and down are integrally formed by extrusion molding.

[0003] The mounting portion 11 has a generally U-shaped cross section and is made up of an upper wall portion 13 extending in the vehicle interior / exterior direction, a lower wall portion 14, and a connecting wall portion 15 connecting the upper wall portion 13 and the lower wall portion 14. On the inside, there are formed locking portions 16 that elastically contact the flange 2A. Here, three lip-shaped locking portions 16 are formed on the lower part of the upper wall portion 13, and two protrusion-shaped locking portions 16 are formed on the upper part of the lower wall portion 14.

[0004] The main body 12 comprises the aforementioned lower wall 14, which guides the rising and lowering door glass G into the groove, an interior side wall 17 extending downward from the interior and exterior sides of the lower wall 14, and an exterior side wall 18. The exterior side wall 18 is continuous with the connecting wall 15, and a decorative molding 20 is attached to the exterior side of the lower wall 14. The upper and lower portions of the molding 20 are bent toward the interior side to form engaging portions 20a, 20b, which are fitted into mating recesses 15a, 18a formed on the exterior sides of the connecting wall 15 and the exterior side wall 18, respectively. An inner lip 21 extends toward the exterior of the vehicle on the exterior side of the door glass G, and is in sliding contact with the interior side of the door glass G. An outer lip 22 extends toward the interior of the vehicle on the interior side of the exterior side wall 18. A glass seal lip 23 that elastically contacts the edge of the door glass G is provided below the lower wall portion 14 .

[0005] A parting seal portion 24, which is flocked and faces the inside of the vehicle, protrudes from the upper surface of the approximate center of the upper wall portion 13. The flocked seal portion 24 elastically contacts the periphery of the vehicle opening (body) B to seal between the door 1 and the body B. A seal lip portion 25 protrudes from the inside end of the upper wall portion 13, extending downward toward the inside of the vehicle and elastically contacting the flange 2A. A covering lip portion 26 protrudes from the upper surface of the upper wall portion 13 on the outside of the vehicle, contacting and covering the upper surface of the molding material 20 attached to the outside of the vehicle of the glass run 10. A core material 27 having a generally U-shaped cross section is embedded along the upper wall portion 13, the connecting wall portion 15, and the lower wall portion 14 to increase rigidity.

[0006] When assembling the molding material 20 to such a glass run 10, in a substantially straight portion such as the upper edge of the door frame 1, the engaging portions 20a, 20b of the molding material 20 fit well into the mating recesses 15a, 18a formed on the outside of the vehicle of the connecting wall portion 15 of the glass run 10 and the outside side wall portion 18, so there is no risk of the molding material 20 coming off the glass run 10 within the range of normal use.

[0007] On the other hand, at corner portion X, which descends from the upper edge of the frame of door 1 to the frame pillar portion, if the curvature exceeds the allowable value of the bending performance of glass run 10, it is necessary to divide glass run 10 into the upper edge side of the frame and the descending frame pillar portion (A pillar) side on the opposite side of corner portion X, and to connect the portion that follows corner portion X with a molded portion. In this case, the molded portion will no longer have some or all of the fitting recesses into which the molding material 20 fits, which could become a starting point for the molding material 20 to come off.

[0008] In response to this, as shown in Figures 10(a) and (b), a method has been disclosed in which, at the corner X of the door 1, the claws of the first connecting member 32 fixed to the glass run 30 are fitted into the holes of the second connecting member 33, and the molding material 31 is engaged with the second connecting member 33 to assemble it (for example, Patent Document 1).

[0009] China Utility Model Registration No. 206124705

[0010] However, in the structure described in Patent Document 1, although the glass run 30 and the first connecting member 32 are directly fixed, the molding material 31 and the glass run 30 are only indirectly fixed via the second connecting member 33. Furthermore, since the claws of the first connecting member 32 and the holes of the second connecting member 33, which are made of a hard material, need to be spaced apart to allow for good assembly and manufacturing variations, there is a concern that the molding material 31 will move by the space when an external force is applied, reducing its marketability. Furthermore, although the molding material 31 extends linearly along the upper edge of the door frame 1 to the corner X, it does not descend from the corner X toward the frame pillar portion, so the decorative range is narrow. If the molding material 31 were to extend along the frame pillar portion, the retention of the first connecting member 32 and the second connecting member 33 may become even more unstable.

[0011] Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a structure for an automobile door corner portion that can stably hold a molding material against a glass run while also expanding the decorative area provided by the molding material.

[0012] In order to achieve the above object, the structure of an automobile door corner portion of the present invention is a structure of an automobile door corner portion in which a glass run (10) is attached along the outer side of the frame (2) at a corner portion (X) that descends from the upper edge portion of the frame body (2) of an automobile door (1) to a pillar portion of the frame body (2), and a decorative molding material (40) is assembled to the outer side of the glass run (10) from the front to the rear of the corner portion (X), characterized in that an insert panel (50) is embedded in the corner region between a portion of the glass run (10) that extends along the upper edge portion of the frame body (2) and a portion that extends along the pillar portion of the frame body (2), and the insert panel (50) is formed with a locking portion (53) that is exposed from the glass run (10), and the molding material (40) is directly locked to the locking portion (53) of the insert panel (50).

[0013] The present invention is also characterized in that the locking portion (53) of the insert panel (50) comprises a first locking portion (53A) formed on the top and a second locking portion (53B) formed on the bottom, the molding material (40) comprises a first molding material (41) assembled to the top edge portion of the frame body (2) and a second molding material (42) assembled to the frame body descending portion descending from the top edge portion of the frame body (2), and the first molding material (41) is locked to the first locking portion (53A) and the second molding material (42) is locked to the second locking portion (53B).

[0014] The present invention is also characterized in that the insert panel (50) is formed with a locking portion (54) that is engaged with the frame body (2).

[0015] The present invention is also characterized in that a core material (27) is embedded in the mounting portion (11) of the glass run (10) that is attached along the vehicle exterior side of the frame body (2), the insert panel (50) is placed in a cut-out portion of the core material (27) of the glass run (10), and an end portion (27a) of the cut-out core material (27) is abutted against the insert panel (50).

[0016] The present invention is also characterized in that the insert panel (50) has an L-shaped cross section consisting of a horizontal portion (50A) extending inside and outside the vehicle frame (2) and a vertical portion (50B) hanging down at a right angle from the outside of the vehicle to the horizontal portion (50A).

[0017] It should be noted that symbols in parentheses indicate corresponding elements or matters described in the drawings and in the detailed description to be described later.

[0018] According to the present invention, in a corner of an automobile door in which a decorative molding is attached to the outer side of a glass run along the vehicle's exterior side of the door frame, extending across the corner where the molding extends from the upper edge of the frame to the frame pillar, the molding is directly engaged with an engaging portion exposed from an insert panel embedded in the corner area between the portion of the glass run extending along the upper edge of the frame and the portion extending along the frame pillar, thereby improving the stability of the molding and expanding the decorative area. Furthermore, by making the engaging portion of the insert panel harder than the engaging portion of the glass run, the molding can be more securely held. The molding may be made of either metal or resin, but metal moldings provide stronger support.

[0019] In addition, according to the present invention, the molding material is divided into a first molding material and a second molding material, which are engaged with a single insert panel, making molding easy and allowing the relative positions of the ends of each molding material to be positioned with high precision.

[0020] Furthermore, according to the present invention, the insert panel is also formed with a locking portion that engages with the frame body, so that the holding force of the glass run can be made stronger.

[0021] According to the present invention, the insert panel is placed in the cutout portion of the core material embedded in the glass run, so that the insert panel can be easily incorporated during molding. Furthermore, the insert panel incorporated into the glass run is firmly fixed because it abuts against the end of the cutout core material.

[0022] Furthermore, according to the present invention, the insert panel has an L-shaped cross section consisting of a horizontal portion extending from the inside to the outside of the frame body and a vertical portion hanging down at a right angle from the outside of the horizontal portion, so that it has a simple structure and is highly retentive after being embedded in the glass run.

[0024] 1 to 6, 8, and 9, a description will be given of the structure of an automobile door corner according to an embodiment of the present invention. The same reference numerals are used to designate the same parts as in the conventional example. The structure of this automobile door corner is such that decorative moldings 40 (41, 42) are attached to the exterior of a so-called hidden-type glass run 10 at a corner X between a frame pillar portion (A-pillar) descending from the upper edge (roof portion) of a frame 2 of an automobile door (front door in this case) 1, along the vehicle exterior side of the frame 2 so as to conceal the frame 2 from the exterior side.

[0025] 2, at the corner portion X, an extrusion 10A extending along the upper edge (roof portion) of the frame 2 of the door 1 and an extrusion 10B extending along the pillar portion (A-pillar) of the frame 2 are connected by molding (molded portion 10C). Although not particularly limited, in this embodiment, a material with a hardness of 70 (instantaneous value measured with a Type A durometer conforming to ISO 7619) is used for the extrusions 10A and 10B of the glass run 10, and a material with a hardness of 80 (measured after 15 seconds with a Type A durometer conforming to ISO 868) is used for the molded portion 10C.

[0026] 3, an insert panel 50 as shown in Fig. 4 is embedded in the molded portion 10C of the glass run 10, and the molding material 40 divided into two parts, one on the roof side and one on the pillar side, is assembled so as to be directly engaged with the first molding material 41 and the second molding material 42 in the insert panel 50. The insert panel 50 is embedded in the corner region of the glass run 10 between the part extending along the upper edge of the frame body 2 and the part extending along the pillar part of the frame body 2.

[0027] The extrusions 10A and 10B of the glass run 10 have the same cross-sectional shape as those shown in the conventional example ( FIG. 9 ). The molding material 40 assembled to the glass run 10 is different from that shown in the conventional example (molding material 20), but the cross-sectional shapes of the extrusions 10A and 10B are the same. Specifically, the glass run 10 is integrally formed with a mounting portion 11 attached to the flange 2A and a main body portion 12 that guides the rising and lowering door glass G into the groove. The mounting portion 11 has a generally U-shaped cross section consisting of an upper wall portion 13 extending in the interior-exterior direction of the vehicle, a lower wall portion 14, and a connecting wall portion 15 connecting the upper wall portion 13 and the lower wall portion 14. A locking portion 16 that resiliently contacts the flange 2A is formed on the inside. Here, three lip-shaped locking portions 16 are formed at the bottom of the upper wall portion 13, and two protruding locking portions 16 are formed at the top of the lower wall portion 14.

[0028] The main body 12 also includes the aforementioned lower wall 14, which guides the rising and lowering door glass G into the groove, an interior side wall 17 extending downward from the interior side of the lower wall 14 and the exterior side wall 18. The exterior side wall 18 is continuous with the connecting wall 15, and a decorative molding 40, i.e., a first molding 41, is attached to the exterior side of the connecting wall 15 (FIG. 9). The upper and lower portions of the first molding 41 are bent toward the interior side to form engaging portions 41a, 41b, which are fitted into mating recesses 15a, 18a formed on the exterior sides of the connecting wall 15 and the exterior side wall 18, respectively. Similarly, although not shown, a second molding 42 is attached to the extruded portion 10B. The upper and lower portions of the second molding material 42 are each bent toward the inside of the vehicle to form locking portions 42a, 42b, which are assembled by fitting into mating recesses 15a, 18a formed on the outside of the connecting wall portion 15 and the outside side wall portion 18, respectively.

[0029] An inner lip 21 is provided on the outer surface of the end of the interior side wall 17, extending toward the exterior of the vehicle and making sliding contact with the interior surface of the door glass G, and an outer lip 22 is provided on the inner surface of the end of the exterior side wall 18, extending toward the interior of the vehicle and making sliding contact with the exterior surface of the door glass G. A glass seal lip 23 is also provided below the lower wall 14, which elastically contacts the edge of the door glass G, but this can be omitted.

[0030] A parting seal 24, which is flocked and protrudes from the upper surface of the approximate center of the upper wall 13, elastically contacts the periphery of the vehicle opening (body) B to seal between the door 1 and the body B. A seal lip 25, which extends downward toward the interior of the vehicle and elastically contacts the flange 2A, protrudes from the interior end of the upper wall 13. A covering lip 26 protrudes from the exterior upper surface of the upper wall 13, contacting and covering the upper surface of a molding 40 attached to the exterior side of the glass run 10. A core material 27, which has a generally U-shaped cross section, is embedded along the upper wall 13, connecting wall 15, and lower wall 14 to increase rigidity.

[0031] Next, the molded portion 10C of the glass run 10 has a cross-sectional shape as shown in Fig. 5. In the molded portion 10C, as shown in Fig. 2, the ends of the extruded portions 10A and 10B are cut out in a stepped shape, and after the insert panel 50 is placed in the cut-out space, the extruded portions 10A and 10B are connected together by the molding material. As shown in Figure 6, the cutouts at the ends of extrusion molded portions 10A and 10B are in three stages. In the first stage, as shown in Figure 6(a), the interior side wall portion 17 and the exterior side wall portion 18 of extrusion molded portions 10A and 10B are cut out (X-X cross section in Figure 2). In the second stage, as shown in Figure 6(b), less than half of connecting wall portion 15 is cut out, including core material 27 (Y-Y cross section in Figure 2). In the third stage, as shown in Figure 6(c), the exterior side of upper wall portion 13 is cut out, including core material 27, leaving parting seal portion 24 (Z-Z cross section in Figure 2).

[0032] The cross-sectional shape shown in FIG. 5 corresponds to the position of the Y-Y cross section (6(b)) in FIG. 2, and the insert panel 50 is arranged below the connecting wall portion 15 that remains after the cutout, and below that, the lower wall portion 14B, the interior side wall portion 17B, the exterior side wall portion 18B, the inner lip portion 21B, the outer lip portion 22B, and the glass seal lip 23B are molded.

[0033] As shown in Fig. 4, the insert panel 50 is V-shaped and made up of a long portion 51 and a short portion 52, and its cross section is L-shaped and made up of a horizontal portion 50A and a vertical portion 50B. When the glass run 10 with the insert panel 50 embedded therein is attached to the corner of the door 1, the long portion 51 of the insert panel 50 is arranged along the pillar portion of the door 1, and the short portion 52 is arranged along the roof portion of the door 1, and as shown in Fig. 5, the horizontal portion 50A extends toward the inside and outside of the frame 2, and the vertical portion 50B is arranged to hang down at a right angle from the outside of the horizontal portion 50A. The angle of the short portion 52 with respect to the long portion 51 is an obtuse angle that matches the angle of the corner of the door 1.

[0034] A first locking portion 53A protruding downward is formed above the insert panel 50, i.e., at a lower portion of the vertical portion 50B of the shorter portion 52, and a second locking portion 53B protruding downward is formed below the insert panel 50, i.e., at a lower portion of the vertical portion 50B of the longer portion 51. When the insert panel 50 is embedded in the glass run 10, these locking portions 53 (first locking portion 53A, second locking portion 53B) are exposed to the exterior of the vehicle, as shown in Figure 3. The first locking portion 53A locks with a locking portion 41b formed on a lower portion of the interior side of a first molding 41 attached to the roof portion of the frame 2, and the second locking portion 53B locks with a locking portion 42b formed on a lower portion of the interior side of a second molding 42 attached to a pillar portion of the frame 2. In addition, the locking portions 41a, 42a formed on the upper inside surfaces of the first molding material 41 and the second molding material 42 are assembled so as to be fitted into mating recesses 15a formed on the outside surface of the extruded connecting wall portion 15.

[0035] Furthermore, a locking portion 54 is formed on the upper surface of the horizontal portion 50A of the insert panel 50, which engages with the frame body 2 when the insert panel 50 is embedded in the glass run 10. The locking portion 54 may have any shape as long as it is locked to the frame body 2 and ensures the holding force of the glass run 10. In this example, the locking portion 54 is a protrusion provided on the upper surface of the horizontal portion 50A on the vehicle interior side, and is designed to fit into a notched recess 2Aa formed in the lower part of the flange 2A of the frame body 2.

[0036] As shown in Figure 5, the insert panel 50 is placed in the cut-out portion of the core material 27 of the glass run 10, and at this time, the end portion 27a of the cut-out core material 27 abuts against the upper surface of the horizontal portion 50A of the insert panel 50 on the outer side of the vehicle, and the insert panel 50 is firmly fixed inside the glass run 10.

[0037] The insert panel 50 is preferably made of a resin having a rigidity sufficient to reliably hold the locking portions 41b, 42b of the first molding material 41 and the second molding material 42. In this embodiment, the insert panel 50 is formed using polypropylene filled with 40% talc powder, but this is not particularly limited.

[0038] The first molding member 41 is a strip extending horizontally along the roof portion of the frame 2. The first molding member 41 forms a triangular shape near the corner X of the door 1, with an inclined surface 41X that slopes downward from the top to the bottom as it approaches the corner X. The second molding member 42 is a strip extending at an angle along the pillar portion of the frame 2. The second molding member 42 forms a triangular shape near the corner X of the door 1, with a horizontal surface 42X. Both molding members 41 and 42 are made of metal, but may also be made of resin with a glossy plating. As shown in FIG. 1 , when the first and second molding members 41 and 42 are assembled to the glass run 10, the horizontal surface 42X of the second molding member 42 abuts against the lower surface of the first molding member 41, enabling accurate relative positioning and improved retention. The inclined surface 41X of the first molding member 41 is flush with the upper inclined surface of the second molding member 42, improving the appearance.

[0039] According to the automobile door corner structure configured in this manner, when the decorative molding 40 (first molding 41 and second molding 42) is assembled to the exterior side of the glass run 10, the molding 40 is directly engaged with the exposed engaging portion 53 of the insert panel 50 embedded in the glass run 10, thereby improving the stability of the molding 40 and expanding the decorative area. Furthermore, since the engaging portion of the insert panel 50 is provided only on one side (the downward-protruding side in this embodiment) and the opposite side (the upward-protruding side in this embodiment) is the engaging portion of the soft glass run 10, the molding 40 and the glass run 10 can be directly assembled, further improving the stability of the molding 40. Furthermore, by using a harder material for the insert panel 50 than the material of the glass run 10, the retention of the molding 40 can be enhanced. The molding 40 may be made of either metal or resin, but a metal molding 40 can retain the molding 40 more firmly.

[0040] In this embodiment, the first molding member 41 and the second molding member 42 are assembled to the glass run 10 so that they abut at the corner portion X, but they can also be assembled so that they do not abut. In that case, a resin terminal member may be interposed between the first molding member 41 and the second molding member 42.

[0041] 7, a molding material 40 having a uniform first molding material 41 and a uniform second molding material 42 may be assembled to the exterior side of the glass run 10. In this case, too, an insert panel 50 is embedded in the glass run 10 with the locking portion 53 exposed, and the molding material 40 is locked to the locking portion 53 of the insert panel 50. As long as the molding material 40 can be assembled to the insert panel 50 in a stable state, the number of locking portions 53 is not limited, and there may be one or more locking portions.

[0042] Furthermore, although the core material 27 is embedded in the glass run 10, the shape of the glass run 10 may be the same and the core material 27 may not be provided. In this case, it is desirable to firmly fix the insert panel 50 inside the glass run 10 by abutting the lower end of the connecting wall portion 15 remaining after the notch has been cut out against the upper surface of the horizontal portion 50A of the insert panel 50 on the vehicle exterior side.
