Description

[0001] BITE MARK SIMULATOR DEVICE FOR A HUMAN AND METHOD OF OPERATION

[0002] Technical Filed

[0003] The invention relates to a human bite mark simulator device comprising a compression stand on which one or more individual jaw models are mounted, and a method of operation.

[0004] State of the Art

[0005] In the literature, bite mark analysis is examined by photographing bite mark evidence when it is found. In bite mark evidence, methods based on matching ante mortem and post mortem bite marks with the bite mark of a guilty perpetrator are used, but the distortions that occur at this point are ignored.

[0006] In the literature, the first problem encountered in the analysis of bite marks is distortions. The two main components of these distortions are the dynamics of the biting process and the detailed structure of the bitten tissue. Tissue degradation is a complex and unpredictable phenomenon. The skin is one of the important actors in this phenomenon, due to the change in tension it has thanks to the amount of elastic fibers it contains. In addition, the body position at the time of the bite and the anatomical region bitten also affect the structure of the bite mark. Failure to follow the rules of photographic examination according to the generally accepted ABFO standards during scar analysis can also lead to scar distortion. Due to the unpredictability of the distortion in the bite site, the results obtained cannot be standardized.

[0007] In the literature, some researchers are trying to develop different devices to simulate the human bite, and even for some invitro studies, devices that cannot simulate the jaws and chewing function because they only make a certain part of a tooth such as a tubercle functional, but the pressure used here cannot be diversified and standardized, the bite pressure varies according to the user's application, the jaw joint-chewing function connection cannot be given, and acrylic or chrome nickel casting is used as tooth structure. In the technical field, bite mark analysis solutions were identified. Accordingly, the invention US3908271 relates to a dental articulator. The invention discloses a dental articulator that simulates jaw movements in the same directions as the natural jaw. The invention discloses the feature of simulating jaw movements. However, the bite mark simulator does not simulate bite pressure and angle. Furthermore, it is not possible for forensic units to simulate and analyze all possible bite marks of a perpetrator.

[0008] Consequently, all the above-mentioned problems made it necessary to make an innovation in the relevant technical field.

[0009] Objectives of the Invention

[0010] The present invention relates to a human bite mark simulator device and method of operation, in order to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages and to bring new advantages to the relevant technical field.

[0011] One object of the invention relates to a human bite mark simulator device, which enables the bite mark simulator to simulate bite pressure and angle.

[0012] Another object of the invention relates to a human bite mark simulator device for simulating and analyzing all possible bite marks of perpetrators for forensic units.

[0013] Another object of the invention relates to a method of operation of a human bite mark simulator device for simulating bite marks of perpetrators and analyzing the results of bite marks.

[0014] Brief Description of the Invention

[0015] In order to fulfill all the aforementioned objects and those which will arise from the following detailed description, the present invention is a bite mark simulator device for a human being, comprising a clamping stand mounted on a free wall of a housing, comprising a mechanical unit and on which one or more individual jaw models are mounted. Accordingly, the invention relates to a joint articulator in an electronic unit, mounted on a housing adjacent to said clamping stand, mounted on an electronic unit, which enables personal adjustments to be made to individualize the jaw movements of the person to receive bite pressure, and which projects the jaw movements onto a model; a pneumatic part in a pneumatic unit, adjacent to said mechanical unit, having at least one piston to control the movements of the joint articulator part, transmitting pressure in accordance with the bite compressions to be provided from said jaw models in the mechanical unit, and providing movement of the mechanical unit; a pressure control part mounted on the lateral wall of said housing, having a pressure regulating mechanism and a pressure gauge, mechanically connected to a plurality of discharge pipes for transmitting and discharging air pressure. This allows the bite mark simulator to simulate the bite pressure and angle. In addition, forensic units can simulate and analyze all possible bite marks produced by perpetrators.

[0016] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the jaw models comprise an upper jaw model and a lower jaw model. Thus, jaw modeling, i.e. dental modeling, of a human mouth can be performed.

[0017] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises one or more stabilization legs in a mechanical unit mounted in a housing. Thus, the stabilization control of the bite mark simulator device can be performed.

[0018] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises a carrier part in the mechanical part, which is mounted in a structure adjacent to the pneumatic part. Thus, it is possible to transfer to the device the personal gnatological data of the person, in particular of the perpetrator, whose bite mark is to be obtained.

[0019] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises a body-piston movement joint part mechanically connected to the piston.

[0020] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the upper jaw model is provided with an upper stand, which is an immobile part to which the upper jaw model is mounted in the clamping stand. This enables the device to be inserted into the jaw joints, i.e. materials can be inserted between the jaw model to mimic the tissue.

[0021] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the movable part on which the lower jaw model is mounted in the clamping stand is provided on a lower stand. This enables the device to be inserted into the jaw joints, i.e. materials can be inserted between the jaw model to mimic tissue. Here, the lower stand is in a form that can move, that is, it is not in a fixed state.

[0022] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises a button assembly electrically connected to the lower jaw model. Thus, on and off button structures are provided to enable the lower jaw model to move or to stop moving. In addition, the device can be operated to command the biting movement with the lower jaw movement.

[0023] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises a piston rod mechanically connected to the piston.

[0024] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that it comprises a main control panel mounted at one end of the piston so as to be located at the rear of the housing. This main control panel, comprising a multifunctional display and a handle, is thus capable of implementing features such as single and / or serial movement. It is also possible to adjust or change the chewing pressure.

[0025] A possible embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the housing is a main carrier body made of stainless steel. This ensures the strength of the device.

[0026] It is characteristic of a possible embodiment of the invention that the housing ensures stabilization in each biting process and controls the stabilization of said bite mark simulator device with the help of adjustable feet; obtaining the upper and lower jaw models and dental models of the person to be bitten and placing them in the clamping stand jaw connections of the bite mark simulator device; transferring the personal gnathological data of the person to be bitten to the device and transferring the gnathological data to the bite function with the pneumatic unit; adjusting the chewing pressure after transfer to the bite function; placing materials to mimic the tissue between the jaw models; applying motion features such as single and / or serial motion from the main control panel; operating the device and commanding the bite movement; performing the bite movement at approximately the desired pressure and time. Thus, a device working method is provided for imitating the bite marks of the perpetrators and analyzing the results of the bite marks.
