Description

[0001] Motor vehicle lock for a locking element of a motor vehicle

[0002] The present invention relates to a motor vehicle lock for a locking element of a motor vehicle according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0003] Motor vehicle locksmiths can be assigned to a wide variety of locking elements of motor vehicles. A motor vehicle lock enables a locking element to be held closed or released, so that the locking element can be held in a closed position or adjusted to an open position by the motor vehicle lock. The term "locking element" is to be understood broadly in this context and includes, in particular, a side door, a tailgate, a trunk lid, a hood, a cargo area lid, a window pane, a pop-up roof, or the like of a motor vehicle.

[0004] The known prior art (EP 2 799 648 A2) from which the invention is based relates to a motor vehicle lock according to the preamble of claim 1. The known motor vehicle lock firstly has a locking mechanism with a lock latch and a pawl. The lock latch is locked or released by the pawl depending on the position. The lock latch can receive or release a locking part, such as a striker, which is arranged on the locking element or the body of the motor vehicle lock and thus hold the locking element in a closed position or release it into an open position. To unlock the locking mechanism, the motor vehicle lock has an operating lever. When the operating lever is operated, the pawl is raised and the lock latch releases the locking part. The operating lever can, as here, be coupled to an inside handle, whereby the operating lever can be operated by pulling the inside handle and the vehicle lock opens accordingly.

[0005] To enable functions such as locking the locking element, the known motor vehicle lock has a coupling with a coupling element, via which the operating lever and the locking mechanism can be operatively coupled with one another and decoupled from one another. Depending on the position of the coupling element, the locking mechanism can be actuated or deactivated via the operating lever. To adjust the coupling and in particular the coupling element, the known motor vehicle lock has an adjustment mechanism. The adjustment mechanism can be adjusted to different states, whereby, depending on the state of the adjustment mechanism, the coupling element is adjusted either to the coupled state or to the uncoupled state. When the adjustment mechanism is unlocked, the coupling element is adjusted to the coupled state. The locking mechanism can thus be unlocked during an operating movement, whereby the locking element can, for example, be opened. In both a locked and secured state, the coupling element is adjusted to the uncoupled state, so that the locking mechanism remains locked during an actuating movement. The difference between the locked and secured states of the adjustment mechanism is that in the locked state, the adjustment mechanism is adjusted to the unlocked state during an actuating movement of the actuating lever, whereas in the secured state, the adjustment mechanism remains in the secured state during an actuating movement of the actuating lever.

[0006] For the known motor vehicle lock, the actuation of the operating lever triggers a different action of the motor vehicle lock depending on the state of the adjustment mechanism. This allows for the implementation of other functions, such as a child safety lock or an anti-theft device, in addition to the usual unlocking and locking. Although the known motor vehicle lock has proven extremely useful in a wide variety of applications, the disadvantage of the known motor vehicle lock is its rather complex design. In the known motor vehicle lock, the adjustment mechanism comprises two different adjustment contours, each of which is motor-driven and adjustable via an adjustment drive.A first of the adjustment contours enables the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism from the uncoupled state to the locked state, and a second of the adjustment contours enables the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism to the secured state. The invention is based on the problem of designing and developing the known motor vehicle lock in such a way that a motor vehicle lock with a comparatively less complex structure is created.

[0007] The above problem is solved by the features of claim 1.

[0008] The key idea is that the adjustment mechanism can be adjusted to both the locked and secured states via an adjustment drive. This eliminates the need for multiple adjustment drives, as is the case with current technology, to achieve these states.

[0009] The adjustment mechanism is moved into the unlocked state, in particular exclusively, via the operating lever by actuating it and subjecting it to a corresponding actuating movement. The locking mechanism can be unlocked by subsequently repeated actuation of the operating lever. This can, for example, ensure that the vehicle lock only opens after the operating lever has been actuated twice, i.e. by a double stroke, which can ultimately improve operational reliability. For example, it is conceivable that the adjustment mechanism is automatically transferred to the locked state via the adjustment drive once the vehicle reaches a certain speed. Accidental unlocking of the locking mechanism from the locked state is ruled out, since simply actuating the operating lever, for example by pulling an inside handle, is not sufficient.

[0010] By adjusting the adjustment mechanism to the secured state, a child safety lock and / or an anti-theft device can be implemented. For example, it is conceivable for the adjustment mechanism to be adjusted to the secured state via a control signal initiated, for example, by a user. Actuating the operating lever does not unlock the locking mechanism when the adjustment mechanism is in the secured state, so that unintentional unlocking of the locking mechanism, particularly via an inside handle, can generally be prevented. If the adjustment mechanism is to be adjusted from the secured state, this can be done via a further control signal, also initiated, for example, by a user, which causes the adjustment mechanism to be adjusted from the secured state to the locked state. From this point on, as already described above, the adjustment mechanism can first be moved into the unlocked state by operating the operating lever and the locking mechanism can then be unlocked by subsequently repeatedly operating the operating lever.

[0011] In detail, it is proposed that the motor vehicle lock has an adjustment drive via which the adjustment mechanism can be adjusted by motor and that the adjustment mechanism is adjusted optionally from the unlocked state into the locked state or into the secured state in the course of a drive movement of the adjustment drive.

[0012] Claim 2 advantageously specifies the adjustment mechanism. In particular, the design with an adjusting lever and a control lever, each movable into two lever positions, enables the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism to three states via an adjustment drive while maintaining a simple structure for the adjustment mechanism.

[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment according to claim 3, it is proposed that the coupling be adjustable via the control lever. This is structurally simple to implement. A particularly high level of functional reliability can be achieved by moving the control lever independently of the control lever, at least in sections. This ensures that the coupling via the coupling only occurs after the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism to implement a double-stroke principle.

[0014] Claim 4 proposes that the adjusting lever secures the control lever in its lever position when the adjustment mechanism is in the secured state. In addition to its adjusting function, the adjusting lever also fulfills a securing function. If the adjusting lever is moved to an inhibiting lever position when the adjustment mechanism is in the secured state, the securing of the control lever and thus the maintenance of the secured state of the adjustment mechanism can be ensured even when the adjustment drive is de-energized. Further advantageous embodiments according to claims 5 and 6 provide a retaining lever. The retaining lever holds the adjustment mechanism in its locked state and releases it as needed (claim 5), whereby the basic functionality of the motor vehicle lock can be implemented in a comparatively simple design. The retaining lever and the actuating lever can be coupled or connected to each other, so that the retaining lever can be moved via the actuating lever (claim 6). The actuating lever thus has at least a dual function, because, depending on the state of the adjustment mechanism, the locking mechanism can be decoupled and / or the retaining lever can be moved, which can ultimately result in an adjustment of the adjustment mechanism.

[0015] Claim 7 relates to an advantageous embodiment in which an idle stroke of the operating lever occurs in the locked state. This increases operating comfort, for example, by allowing an inner handle connected to the operating lever to be pulled even in the locked state, while the adjustment mechanism remains in the locked state.

[0016] The locking mechanism can be released relatively easily by actuating the actuating lever, provided the actuating movement causes the coupling element to move (claim 8). The coupling element can be arranged particularly compactly directly on the actuating lever and moves with it.

[0017] According to an advantageous embodiment according to claim 9, the motor vehicle lock has an actuating drive. The actuating drive can effect a motorized opening of the motor vehicle lock, thereby increasing operating convenience. Preferably, the actuating lever and actuating drive are independent of each other, allowing, for example, opening from outside the motor vehicle via the actuating drive and opening from inside the motor vehicle via the actuating lever, for example by connecting an interior handle.

[0018] Claim 10 advantageously provides a further actuating lever, which is decoupled from the actuating lever. The actuating levers can be connected to actuating elements arranged at various locations in and on the motor vehicle, such as door handles. It is also possible to provide the further actuating lever as an emergency actuating lever, which can be used to open the locking element, for example, after a crash of the motor vehicle.

[0019] According to claim 11, the motor vehicle lock is provided with an additional coupling. The additional coupling allows the additional actuating lever to be operatively coupled and decoupled, particularly independently of the coupling and the actuating lever. Particularly advantageously, the additional coupling is adjustable via the actuating drive, thus eliminating the need for separate adjustment components.

[0020] A further preferred embodiment according to claim 12 provides a release lever, which, in a release movement, unlocks the locking mechanism. As a type of "knotted lever," it is particularly possible to couple the various actuation options, such as the actuation lever, the additional actuation lever, and / or the actuation drive, to the release lever. This allows for largely independent actuation lines to be provided in a structurally simple manner.

[0021] In the following, the invention is explained in more detail with reference to a drawing which merely represents exemplary embodiments. In the drawing,

[0022] Fig. 1 shows a proposed motor vehicle lock associated with a locking element of a motor vehicle, in a) and b) each in perspective view from two different sides,

[0023] Fig. 2 shows the motor vehicle lock according to Fig. 1a), 1b) in reduced plan views with an adjustment mechanism which is in the unlocked state, wherein in a) the operating lever is unactuated and in b) the operating lever is actuated,

[0024] Fig. 3 shows the motor vehicle lock according to Fig. 1a), 1b) in reduced plan views with an adjustment mechanism which is in the secured state, wherein in a) the operating lever is unactuated and in b) the operating lever is actuated,

[0025] Fig. 4 shows the motor vehicle lock according to Fig. 1 a), 1 b) in reduced plan views, in a) with an adjustment mechanism which is in the locked state, wherein the operating lever is not actuated and in b) with an adjustment mechanism which is adjusted from the locked state to the unlocked state in the course of the actuating movement of the operating lever and

[0026] Fig. 5 shows the motor vehicle lock according to Fig. 1 a), 1 b) in reduced plan views, which illustrate an actuation by an actuating drive, wherein in a) a release lever is not actuated by the actuating drive and in b) the release lever is actuated by the actuating drive.

[0027] The preferred embodiment illustrated in the figures relates to a motor vehicle lock 1 for a locking element 2 of a motor vehicle 3. According to Fig. 1 a), the motor vehicle lock 1 is assigned to the locking element 2, here a side door of the motor vehicle 3. As mentioned in the introduction, the term "locking element" is to be understood broadly in the context of this application.

[0028] The motor vehicle lock 1 has a locking mechanism 4 with a lock latch 5 and a pawl 6. The lock latch 5 can be adjusted to an open position and to at least one closed position. When the motor vehicle lock 1 is installed, the lock latch 5 can engage with a locking part in the closed position. The pawl 6 can lock the lock latch in the closed position or release the lock latch, whereby the lock latch 5 can be adjusted from the locked position to the open position. In Fig. 1 a), 1 b), the lock latch 5 is adjusted to the open position.

[0029] The motor vehicle lock 1 has an operating lever 7, via which the locking mechanism 4 can be unlocked. During unlocking, for example, the pawl 6 can be lifted, the lock latch 5 released, and the lock latch 5 moved into the open position. Here and preferably, the operating lever 7 is mounted so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis, as can be seen, for example, from a comparison of Figs. 2a) and 2b). Here and preferably, the operating lever 7 is designed as an internal operating lever. For example, as indicated in Fig. 1b), an internal handle 8 can be connected to the operating lever 7, which can be operated manually, for example, by a user. The operating movement of the operating lever 7 can be a pivoting movement, as here.

[0030] Among other things, so that not every actuation of the operating lever 7 leads to an unlocking of the locking mechanism 4, the motor vehicle lock 1 has a coupling 9 with a coupling element 10. By means of the coupling 9, the operating lever 7 can be operatively connected to or separated from the locking mechanism 4, so that during an actuation movement of the operating lever 7, i.e. upon actuation of the operating lever 7, the locking mechanism 4 is unlocked or the locking mechanism 4 remains in its state, in particular its locked state. For example, it is possible for the operating lever 7 to be operatively coupled to the locking mechanism 4, the operating lever 7 undergoes the actuation movement, and during the actuation movement, the unlocking of the locking mechanism 4 is effected, as can be seen from a comparison of Figures 2a) and 2b).In the event that the actuating lever 7 is operatively decoupled from the locking mechanism 4, the actuating lever 7 can also experience the actuating movement, but this does not cause the locking mechanism 4 to be unlocked, as can be seen from a combination of Figures 3a), 3b) and 4a), 4b).

[0031] In a coupled state of the coupling element 10, the coupling 9 operatively couples the actuating lever 7 to the locking mechanism 4 (Figures 2a) and 2b)). In this coupled state, the locking mechanism 4 can be unlocked via the actuating lever 7. In a decoupling state of the coupling element 10, the coupling 9 operatively decouples the actuating lever 7 from the locking mechanism 4 (Figures 3a), 3b) and 4a), 4b)). In this decoupling state, the locking mechanism 4 cannot be unlocked via the actuating lever 7. Here and preferably, the coupling element 10 is pivotable about a pivot axis, here about a pivot axis of the actuating lever 7, and is mounted so as to be displaceable relative to the pivot axis, in particular in a direction orthogonal to the pivot axis. Other embodiments are conceivable, for example a bearing in which the coupling element 10 is mounted so as to be movable purely linearly. Here and preferably, the adjustment of the coupling element 10 between the coupling state (Figures 2a), 2b)) and the uncoupling state (Figures 3a), 3b), 4a), 4b)) is carried out by a, in particular at least partially linear, displacement movement of the coupling element 10. Furthermore, here and preferably, the coupling element 10 is preloaded into the coupling state.

[0032] In order to be able to control the coupling and uncoupling of the actuating lever 7 and the locking mechanism 4 as needed, the motor vehicle lock 1 has an adjustment mechanism 11. The coupling element 10 is adjustable via the adjustment mechanism 11. Here, and preferably, it is provided that the adjustment mechanism 11 can adjust the coupling element 10 from the coupled state to the uncoupled state by the adjustment mechanism 11 acting on the coupling element 10.

[0033] The adjustment mechanism 11 itself can be brought into various states, whereby actuation of the actuating lever 7 can cause different reactions depending on the respective state of the adjustment mechanism 11. For example, the adjustment mechanism 11 can be adjusted to an unlocked state, which is shown for the exemplary embodiment in Figures 2a) and 2b). In the unlocked state, the coupling element 10 is adjusted to the coupled state. During the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7, the locking mechanism 4 can be unlocked in the unlocked state and the motor vehicle lock 1 opens. The adjustment mechanism 11 can also be adjusted to a locked state, which is shown in Figures 4a), and a secured state, which is shown in Figures 3a) and 3b). In both the locked state and the secured state, the coupling element 10 is adjusted to the uncoupled state. In these states of the adjustment mechanism 11, during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7, the locking mechanism 4 cannot be unlocked and the motor vehicle lock 1 cannot be opened.

[0034] While it is intended that the locked state and the secured state of the adjusting mechanism 11 do not differ with regard to the state of the coupling element 10, the states of the adjusting mechanism 11 differ in that the adjusting mechanism 11 is either adjusted from the locked state to the unlocked state or remains in the secured state during an actuating movement of the actuating lever 7, depending on the state of the adjusting mechanism 11.

[0035] If the adjustment mechanism 11 is therefore adjusted to the locked state (Fig. 4a)), the adjustment mechanism 11 is adjusted to the unlocked state (Figures 2a, 2b)) during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 (Fig. 4b)). This makes it possible, for example, for the motor vehicle lock 1 to be opened from the locked state by a double stroke of the actuating lever 7, i.e. two consecutive actuating movements. If the adjustment mechanism 11 is adjusted to the secured state (Figures 3a, 3b)), the adjustment mechanism 11 remains in the secured state during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 (Fig. 3b)). In this case, the actuating lever 7 can execute an idle stroke, i.e. a stroke without a corresponding unlocking action of the motor vehicle lock 1.

[0036] In summary, for the exemplary embodiment, the coupling element 10 can be adjusted from the coupling position to the decoupling position by the adjustment mechanism 11, with the adjustment mechanism 11 itself effecting the adjustment. Furthermore, the coupling element 10 can be adjusted from the decoupling position to the coupling position during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7, with the adjustment being effected, for example, by a preload force acting on the coupling element 10. Accordingly, the adjustment to the coupling position does not occur (directly) via the adjustment mechanism 11, at least in the exemplary embodiment.

[0037] What is essential about the proposed motor vehicle lock 1 is that the motor vehicle lock 1 has an adjustment drive 12, via which the adjustment mechanism 11 is motor-adjustable, and that the adjustment mechanism 11 is adjusted from the unlocked state to either the locked state or the secured state during a drive movement of the adjustment drive 12. The adjustment drive 12 enables the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 to be adjusted either from the unlocked state to the locked state or to the secured state. Here and preferably, the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 takes place via the adjustment drive 12, starting from the unlocked state (Fig. 2a)) to the locked state (Fig. 4a)) sequentially via the secured state (Fig. 3a)). In this respect, the adjustment mechanism 11 is initially transferred to the secured state during the drive movement, regardless of its target state.

[0038] The drive movement is initiated by the control system, for example, in response to a user signal or when a certain speed of the motor vehicle 3 is reached. If, for example, the adjustment mechanism 11 is to be adjusted to the locked state, it is first adjusted to the secured state and then to the locked state. If the adjustment mechanism 11 is to be adjusted to the secured state, the drive movement only includes the adjustment to the secured state.

[0039] The adjustment drive 12, as provided in the exemplary embodiment and preferably, has an electric motor 13 and / or a worm gear 14 with a worm shaft 15 and a worm wheel 16. The electric motor 13 can be actuated in both directions of movement. It is possible for the electric motor 13 to be a motor with an indeterminate adjustment angle. Unlike stepper motors, such motors do not detect any adjustment angle during operation, but are driven, for example, "to a stop." The worm wheel 16 can have a toothing, which preferably, as here, extends over a partial angular range of the worm wheel 16.

[0040] While the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 from the unlocked state to the locked state and into the secured state takes place, in particular exclusively, by motor via the adjustment drive 12, the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 from the secured state (Fig. 3a)) is initially motorized by the adjustment drive 12 into the locked state (Fig. 4a)). From the locked state, the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 into the unlocked state (Fig. 2a)) takes place, in particular exclusively, during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 (Fig. 4b)), which can be actuated manually via an inside handle 8, for example by a user.

[0041] It is particularly preferred if the adjustment mechanism 11 has an adjusting lever 17, which can be moved via the adjustment drive 12 into, in particular, precisely two lever positions. The adjusting lever 17 can, as here, be pivotably mounted about a pivot axis. The lever positions are defined positions of the adjusting lever 17, into which the adjusting lever 17 can be repeatedly adjusted and in which the adjusting lever 17 remains at least temporarily, for example in the unlocked, locked, and secured state of the adjustment mechanism 11. The adjusting lever 17 can be adjusted back and forth between the lever positions, but in particular cannot be moved beyond these lever positions.

[0042] Here, and preferably, the adjusting lever 17 is movable exclusively via the adjusting drive 12. The adjusting lever 17 can be motion-coupled to the adjusting drive 12, in particular to the worm gear 16. Here, and preferably, the adjusting lever 17 is arranged on the worm gear 16. A first of the lever positions of the adjusting lever 17 is shown for the exemplary embodiment in Figures 2a), 2b), 4a), 4b), and a second of the lever positions of the adjusting lever 17 is shown in Figures 3a), 3b). With regard to the adjusting lever 17, it is possible for it to be designed as an adjusting contour. The adjusting lever 17 designed as an adjusting contour can, for example, be arranged on the worm gear 16.

[0043] Alternatively or in addition to the adjusting lever 17, it is preferably provided that the adjustment mechanism 11 has a control lever 18 which is movable in at least two, in particular exactly three, lever positions. The control lever 18 can, as here, be pivotably mounted about a pivot axis. The lever positions are defined positions of the control lever 18 into which the control lever 18 can be repeatedly adjusted and in which the control lever 18 remains at least temporarily, for example in the unlocked, locked and secured state of the adjustment mechanism 11. A first of the lever positions of the control lever 18 is shown in Figures 2a), 2b), a second of the lever positions of the control lever 18 in Figures 3a), 3b) and a third of the lever positions of the control lever 18 in Figures 4a). With regard to the control lever 18, it is also possible for it to be designed as an adjustment contour.

[0044] The control lever 18 can be preloaded into a lever position. Here, and preferably, the control lever 18 is subjected to a preload force, for example, from a spring element, in particular such that the control lever 18 is preloaded into the lever position in which the adjustment mechanism 11 is in the unlocked state (Fig. 2a). Due to the preload force, the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 from the locked state according to Fig. 4a) can be effected during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 according to Fig. 4b).

[0045] In general, it is preferably provided that the drive movement into the locked state of the adjustment mechanism 11, starting from the unlocked state of the adjustment mechanism 11, comprises two partial drive movements. During the first partial drive movement, the adjustment mechanism 11 is adjusted from the unlocked state (Fig. 2a)) to the secured state (Fig. 3a)). During the second partial drive movement, the adjustment mechanism 11 is adjusted from the secured state (Fig. 3a)) to the locked state (Fig. 4a)). The partial drive movements with respect to the adjusting lever 17 occur in particular in opposite directions of movement. During the first partial drive movement, the adjusting lever 17 can be moved by the adjustment drive 12 in a first direction of movement, here counterclockwise, and, here and preferably, the control lever 18 can be moved along with the adjusting lever 17.In the second partial drive movement, the adjusting lever 17 can be moved by the adjusting drive 12 in a second, in particular opposite, direction of movement, here clockwise.

[0046] It can be provided that the control lever 18 can be coupled and uncoupled from the adjusting lever 17 in such a way that the control lever 18 is moved along with the adjusting lever 17 during the drive movement into the secured state of the adjusting mechanism 11, and that the adjusting lever 17 is only moved along with the adjusting lever 17 for part of the drive movement during the drive movement into the locked state of the adjusting mechanism 11. Starting from the unlocked state according to Fig. 2a), the adjusting lever 17 is moved by the adjusting drive 12, here counterclockwise. During the drive movement, the adjusting lever 17 engages with the control lever 18, and the control lever 18 is moved along with the adjusting lever 17 until the secured state according to Fig. 3a) is reached. If the adjusting mechanism 11 is moved into the locked state according to Fig.4a) is adjusted, the drive movement is continued, the adjusting lever 17 is adjusted in the opposite direction of movement, here clockwise, by the adjusting drive 12. The control lever 18 engages with another component of the motor vehicle lock 1, here a retaining lever 19, and the control lever 18 is decoupled from the adjusting lever 17.

[0047] Further preferably, it is provided that the control lever 18, starting from the locked state of the adjustment mechanism 11, is moved independently of the adjusting lever 17 during the actuating movement. The adjusting lever 17 is preferably in the same lever position in the unlocked state (Fig. 2a)) and in the locked state (Fig. 4a)). During the actuating movement, the adjustment mechanism 11 can, here and preferably, be released by the holding lever 19 releasing the control lever 18 (Fig. 4b)). The preloaded control lever 18 can then be moved such that the adjustment mechanism 11 is moved to the unlocked state (Fig. 2a)).

[0048] With regard to the control lever 18, it is preferably the case that the control lever 18 can be coupled or is coupled to the coupling 9 during the drive movement in such a way that a movement of the control lever 18 causes the coupling element 10 to be adjusted from the coupled state to the uncoupled state. Starting from the unlocked state of the adjustment arrangement according to Fig. 2a), the control lever 18 is pivoted during the drive movement, here clockwise. The control lever 18 engages the coupling element 10 during the drive movement, whereby the coupling element 10 is moved along with the control lever 18. In Figures 2a) to 3a), the coupling element 10 is moved downward. As a result, the coupling element 10 is displaced and adjusted from the coupled state to the uncoupled state.Preferably, the control lever 18, starting from the locked state of the adjustment mechanism 11, can be decoupled or is decoupled from the coupling element 10 during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 in such a way that the coupling element 10 is moved at least partially independently of the control lever 18 during the adjustment from the decoupled state to the coupled state. "Sectionally" in this context refers to a movement section of the respective movement, here the actuating movement. Starting from the locked state according to Fig. 4a), the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 takes place according to Fig. 4b). As soon as the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 takes place, the control lever 18 is released, here for example by a holding lever 19. The control lever 18 is, here and preferably, pretensioned into a lever position. As soon as it is released, the control lever 18 is adjusted, in particular pivoted, in Fig.4b) counterclockwise. This adjustment releases the coupling element 10. The coupling element 10 is then temporarily blocked, as shown in Fig. 4b), for example, here by a release lever 20. As a result, the coupling element 10 initially remains in the uncoupled state and is only adjusted to the coupled state during the further course of the actuating movement, as can be seen from a comparison of Figs. 4b) and 2a).

[0049] Here, and preferably, it is provided that, during the actuating movement, the movement of the control lever 18 is completed before the adjustment of the coupling element 10. The adjustment of the coupling element 10 from the uncoupling state to the coupling state takes place after the adjustment of the adjustment mechanism 11 from the locked state to the unlocked state.

[0050] Very generally speaking, it is therefore also possible in connection with the actuating movement for the actuating movement to comprise two partial actuating movements. In a first partial actuating movement, the actuating lever 7 is moved in a first direction of movement, and in a second partial actuating movement, the actuating lever 7 is moved in a second direction of movement. It is possible for the first direction of movement to be opposite to the second direction of movement, as can be seen for the exemplary embodiment, for example, from a combination of Fig. 2a), 2b) or 3a), 3b) or 4a), 4b). It is preferably provided that, starting from the locked state of the adjusting mechanism 11, the adjustment of the adjusting mechanism 11 to the unlocked state is effected during the first partial actuating movement, and that the adjustment of the coupling element 10 to the coupled state is effected during the second partial actuating movement.

[0051] In addition or alternatively to the coupling and decoupling capability of the control lever 18 with the coupling element 10, with regard to the control lever 18, it is preferably provided that the adjusting lever 17 and the control lever 18 are coupled to one another in the secured state of the adjustment mechanism 11 such that the adjusting lever 17 secures the control lever 18 in its lever position. This allows the control lever 18 to be secured against movement in its lever position. Movement of the control lever 18 is blocked by the adjusting lever 17, as can be seen, for example, in Figures 3a) and 3b). Here and preferably, the adjusting lever 17 secures the control lever 18 in a form-fitting manner, in particular via a front-end contact surface of the adjusting lever 17.

[0052] It is particularly preferably provided that the adjusting lever 17 is adjusted to a restraining lever position when the adjusting mechanism 11 is in the secured state, as here. One of the lever positions represents a restraining lever position in this respect. In the restraining lever position of the adjusting lever 17, the control lever 18 can be held stationary in its lever position solely due to friction between the adjusting mechanism 11 and the adjusting drive 12. This means that forces introduced into the adjusting lever 17 by the control lever 18, for example due to the pretension of the control lever 18, do not lead to any adjustment of the adjusting mechanism 11, in particular even if the adjusting drive 12 or the electric motor 13 is not supplied with power. In order to adjust the adjusting mechanism 11 from the secured state, the adjusting drive 12 must be controlled.Alternatively or additionally, it is preferably possible for the adjusting lever 17 and the control lever 18 to be decoupled from one another in the locked state of the adjusting mechanism 11 such that the control lever 18 is unsecured by the adjusting lever 17. This enables the adjusting mechanism 11, starting from the locked state according to Fig. 4a), to be freely adjustable by the adjusting lever 17 during the actuating movement according to Fig. 4b) into the unlocked state according to Fig. 2a). It is conceivable for the control lever 18 to be unsecured by the adjusting lever 17, but secured by another component of the motor vehicle lock 1, such as the retaining lever 19, as can be seen from Fig. 4a).

[0053] As already mentioned above in connection with preferred features, it is also generally possible for the motor vehicle lock 1 to have a holding lever 19, by means of which the adjusting mechanism 11 can be held in the locked state (Fig. 4a)) and by means of which the adjusting mechanism 11 is released during the actuating movement (Fig. 4b)). Here and preferably for this purpose, it is provided that the holding lever 19 and the control lever 18 can be coupled to one another and decoupled from one another. The coupling ensures that the adjusting mechanism 11 remains in the locked state, as can be seen for the embodiment in Fig. 4a). The decoupling (Fig. 4b)) ensures that the adjusting mechanism 11 is adjusted from the locked state to the unlocked state. To enable coupling and decoupling, it is possible, as in the exemplary embodiment, for the holding lever 19 and the control lever 18 to be engaged with one another and, in particular during the actuating movement, to be disengaged from one another. With regard to Fig. 3a), it can be seen that the holding lever 19 and the control lever 18 are decoupled from one another in the secured state in the exemplary embodiment. Here, the control lever 18 is secured in its lever position via the adjusting lever 17. Alternatively, however, it is also conceivable for the holding lever 19 and the control lever 18 to be coupled in the secured state and for the control lever 18 to be held in its lever position, for example, via both the adjusting lever 17 and the holding lever 19. The holding lever 19 can be mounted so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis. It is possible for the holding lever 19 to be preloaded into a lever position.

[0054] With regard to the holding lever 19, it is furthermore preferably possible for the holding lever 19 and the actuating lever 7 to be coupled or coupled to one another in such a way that the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7, in particular independently of the state of the adjusting mechanism 11, causes a movement of the holding lever 19. During the actuating movement, the holding lever 19 is preferably moved along with the actuating lever 7, as provided in the exemplary embodiment. This can be seen, for example, from a synopsis of Figures 2a) and 2b), 3a) and 3b) as well as 4a) and 4b).

[0055] In principle, a wide variety of designs for the holding lever 19 are conceivable. However, it has proven particularly useful for the holding lever 19 to have at least two function lever arms. Each function lever arm of the holding lever 19 is assigned a function. A first function lever arm can be designed such that it engages with the actuating lever 7 during the actuating movement. A second function lever arm can be designed such that it holds the control lever 18 in its lever position when the adjusting mechanism 11 is in the locked state, in particular engages with the control lever 18, and releases it during the actuating movement. The holding lever 19 can be preloaded in a direction of movement via a third function lever arm, in particular by being subjected to a preload force. It is possible for the holding lever 19 to be Y-shaped, as is the case, for example, in the exemplary embodiment. It is conceivable that the holding lever 19 is formed in one piece.

[0056] It is worth mentioning in connection with the actuating lever 7 that the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 can preferably be effected independently of the state of the adjusting mechanism 11 and that the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 preferably effects an adjustment of the coupling element 10 from the uncoupling state to the coupling state depending on the state of the adjusting mechanism 11 or leaves the coupling element 10 unadjusted in the uncoupling state. The actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 can in particular be carried out manually, i.e. by a user, for example according to Fig. 1b) via an inside handle 8. Starting from the locked state according to Fig. 4a), during the actuating movement according to Fig. 4b), the adjusting mechanism 11 is adjusted to the unlocked state according to Fig. 2a). As a result, the coupling element 10 is adjusted from the uncoupling state to the coupling state. A subsequent, repeated actuating movement according to Fig.2b) causes the locking mechanism 4 to be unlocked. Starting from the secured state according to Fig. 3a), no adjustment of the adjusting mechanism 11 and thus no adjustment of the coupling element 10 takes place during the actuating movement according to Fig. 3b). Here and preferably, an idle stroke of the actuating lever 7 takes place via the inner handle 8. Alternatively, it is also conceivable that the actuating lever 7 and / or the inner handle 8 is or are blocked in the secured state of the adjusting mechanism 11.

[0057] With regard to the actuating lever 7, it can also be provided that the actuating lever 7 and the coupling element 10 can be coupled or are coupled to one another in such a way that the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 causes a movement of the coupling element 10. Here and preferably, it is provided that the coupling element 10 is moved along with the actuating lever 7 during the actuating movement. This can occur independently of the state of the adjusting mechanism 11. Structurally, it is preferably provided that the coupling element 10 is arranged on the actuating lever 7. In the exemplary embodiment and preferably, the coupling element 10 is moved relative to the actuating lever 7 for adjustment between the uncoupling state and the coupling state. This can be seen, for example, from a comparison of Figures 2a) and 3a).

[0058] As described in the introduction, the motor vehicle lock 1 is fundamentally suitable for being assigned to a wide variety of locking elements 2. For a variety of applications, it is desirable that, in addition to manual opening of the locking element 2, for example via the actuating lever 7, there is also the option of motorized opening of the locking element 2. Against this background, it is therefore particularly preferred that the motor vehicle lock 1 has an actuating drive 21, via which the locking mechanism 4 can be unlocked by motor. While the adjusting drive 12 here serves exclusively to adjust the adjusting mechanism 11, the locking mechanism 4 can be unlocked via the actuating drive 21.The actuating drive 21, which can be seen in Figures 1a and 1b, can comprise a further electric motor 22 and / or a further worm gear 23 with a further worm shaft 24 and a further worm wheel 25. The actuating drive 21 preferably has an actuating contour.

[0059] Preferably, in this context, it is provided that the actuating drive 21 is decoupled from the actuating lever 7 such that the actuating drive 21 and the actuating lever 7 can be actuated independently of one another. This makes it possible for the locking mechanism 4 to be unlocked either manually via the actuating lever 7, for example by pulling an inner handle 8 coupled to the actuating lever 7, or automatically via the actuating drive 21. In particular, it is provided that the actuating drive 21 effects a decoupling of the locking mechanism 4 independently of the state of the adjustment mechanism 11 and / or independently of the state of the coupling element 10 of the coupling 9.

[0060] In principle, it is conceivable that different functions of the motor vehicle lock 1, such as a child safety lock and / or an anti-theft device, can be implemented using the actuating drive 21 and the actuating lever 7. This can preferably be achieved using control technology. For example, it is possible for the motor vehicle lock 1 to be brought into a child safety lock state by adjusting the adjusting mechanism 11 to the secured state and the actuating drive 21, in response to a control signal, causing the locking mechanism 4 to be unlocked. It is also possible for the motor vehicle lock 1 to be brought into an anti-theft lock state by adjusting the adjusting mechanism 11 to the secured state and by the actuating drive 21 failing to respond to a control signal, thus preventing the locking mechanism 4 from being unlocked. The control signal can be output, for example, by a control unit of the motor vehicle 3 or a control unit of the motor vehicle lock 1. The control unit is indicated by way of example in Fig. 1 b) and can be connected to the adjustment drive 12 and / or to the actuation drive 21 for control purposes.

[0061] In principle, it can be advantageous if the locking element 2 can be opened from different locations or positions of the motor vehicle 3. From inside the motor vehicle 3, the locking element 2 can be opened, for example, via the actuating lever 7, which, when the adjustment mechanism 11 is in the unlocked state (Fig. 2a)), unlocks the locking mechanism 4 during the actuating movement (Fig. 2b)). From outside the motor vehicle 3, a button or similar device can be provided, which is coupled to the actuating drive 21 and whose actuation can lead to the actuation of the actuating drive 21. It is conceivable, for example, that the button or similar device is coupled to an external handle 26 of the motor vehicle 3 in such a way that pulling the handle actuates the button. Alternatively or additionally, it is possible for the actuating drive 21 to be remotely controlled. For the exemplary embodiment according to Fig.In Fig. 1b), the button is not shown separately, as it is located in the outer handle 26. Actuating the outer handle 26, such as pulling it, triggers the button. The button can be connected, for example, to a control unit, which is indicated in Fig. 1b). The adjustment drive 12 and / or the actuation drive 21 can be controlled via the control unit. The control unit can control the actuation drive 21 in response to the signal from the button.

[0062] Alternatively or in addition to the actuating drive 21, it may be advantageous for the motor vehicle lock 1 to have a further actuating lever 27, which is decoupled from the actuating lever 7 such that the actuating lever 7 and the further actuating lever 27 can be actuated independently of one another. The further actuating lever 27 can represent a further unlocking option for the locking mechanism 4. For the exemplary embodiment, the further actuating lever 27 is particularly visible in Fig. 1 b) and indicated by dash-dotted lines in Figs. 5a) and 5b).

[0063] As can be seen from Fig. 1 b), and preferably, the actuating lever 7 is designed as an internal actuating lever, to which, in particular, an internal handle 8 for actuating the internal actuating lever can be coupled, and the further actuating lever 27 is designed as an external actuating lever, to which, in particular, an external handle 26 for actuating the external actuating lever can be coupled. Particularly in the case where the motor vehicle lock 1 has the actuating drive 21, it is possible for the external handle 26 to serve both to actuate the external actuating lever and to actuate the button or the like, and thus in particular to actuate the actuating drive 21.

[0064] In this context, it is generally possible for the actuating drive 21 and the additional actuating lever 27 to be provided as equivalent opening options for the locking element 2. Thus, it is ultimately up to the user outside the motor vehicle 3 whether they unlock the locking mechanism 4 via the actuating drive 21 or the additional actuating lever 27. However, it has proven particularly effective if the additional actuating lever 27 is designed as an emergency actuating lever. The locking element 2 can be opened via the emergency actuating lever even in the event of a failure of the actuating drive 21.

[0065] Against this background, it is particularly advantageous for the motor vehicle lock 1 to have a further coupling 28 with a further coupling element 29, which can be seen in Figures 1b, 5a), 5b), which, depending on the state of the further coupling element 29, operatively couples or decouples the further actuating lever 27 with the locking mechanism 4. Depending on the state of the further coupling element 29, the locking mechanism 4 can thus be unlocked via the further actuating lever 27.

[0066] The further coupling 28 is preferably operatively decoupled from the adjustment drive 12 and, in particular, adjustable exclusively via the actuating drive 21. The actuating drive 21 can thus fulfill a dual function, namely, on the one hand, the automatic unlocking of the locking mechanism 4 and thus the automatic opening of the closure element 2 during normal operation, and on the other hand, the adjustment of the further coupling element 29 during emergency operation, for example as a result of an accident, such that the further actuating lever 27 is operatively coupled to the locking mechanism 4. It is preferably possible for the further electric motor 22 of the actuating drive 21 to unlock the locking mechanism 4 in one actuation direction and to adjust the further coupling element 29 in an opposite actuation direction. The actuation direction of the further electric motor 22 determines the direction of rotation of the further worm shaft 24 and the direction of rotation of the further worm wheel 25. Here and preferably, the further worm wheel 25 has a coupling contour 30 for adjusting the further coupling element 29. The coupling contour 30 is shown in Fig. 1 b). The coupling contour 30 is arranged on an end face of the further worm wheel 25. Here and preferably, the coupling contour 30 can act on an adjusting lever 31, which is also shown in Fig. 1 b) and which, in turn, can act on the further coupling element 29. The further coupling element 29 is shown in Figures 1 b), 5a) and 5b).

[0067] In connection with the different unlocking options of the locking mechanism 4, it is particularly preferably provided that the motor vehicle lock 1 has multiple actuating lines. A first actuating line comprises the actuating lever 7, the adjusting mechanism 11, the adjusting drive 12, and the coupling 9 with the coupling element 10. A second actuating line comprises the actuating drive 21. A third actuating line comprises the further actuating lever 27 and the further coupling 28 with the further coupling element 29. Preferably, the first actuating line can be actuated independently of the other actuating lines. Furthermore, the second actuating line and / or the third actuating line can preferably be actuated independently of the first actuating line.

[0068] As already mentioned above in connection with other advantageous features, it is generally preferred that the motor vehicle lock 1 has a release lever 20, which can be coupled or is coupled to the locking mechanism 4 and which, during a release movement, unlocks the locking mechanism 4. The release movement is evident from a view of Figures 2a) and 2b) as well as 5a) and 5b). The release lever 20 is, here and preferably, mounted so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis. During the release movement, the release lever 20 can be pivoted, clockwise in Figures 2a) and 2b).

[0069] Generally speaking, with regard to the pivot axes of the adjusting lever 17, the control lever 18, the holding lever 19, the actuating lever 7 and / or the release lever 20, it is possible for the pivot axes, at least in part, and preferably all pivot axes of the projecting levers, to be oriented substantially parallel to one another.

[0070] The release lever 20 can serve, among other things, as a type of knotted lever to which any number of actuating levers 7 and actuating drives 21 can be connected. Thus, it is preferably provided that the release lever 20 and the actuating lever 7 are coupled or can be coupled to one another via the coupling 9 in the coupled state of the coupling element 10 such that the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7 causes the release movement of the release lever 20. In the coupled state, the coupling element 10 can be brought into engagement with the release lever 20, in particular during the actuating movement of the actuating lever 7, as can be seen by way of example in Fig. 2b).

[0071] Alternatively or additionally, it is preferably the case that the release lever 20 and the further actuating lever 27 are coupled or can be coupled to one another via the further coupling 28 in such a way that a further actuating movement of the further actuating lever 27 causes the release movement of the release lever 20.

[0072] Furthermore, alternatively or additionally, it is provided that the release lever 20 and the actuating drive 21 are or can be coupled to one another in such a way that the release movement of the release lever 20 can be effected via the actuating drive 21. Here and preferably, the actuating drive 21, in particular the worm gear 16, has a release contour 32, which can be seen in particular in Figures 5a) and 5b). The release contour 32 can be arranged on the worm gear 16, in particular on an end face opposite the coupling contour 30. Here and preferably, the release contour 32 acts directly on the release lever 20. Alternatively, it is also possible to provide an additional lever on which the release contour 32 acts and which in turn acts on the release lever 20.
