Abstract
Description
High-efficiency vertical axis fluid power plant
[0001] The present invention relates to a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device, and more particularly, to a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device capable of generating power with high efficiency by including a rear guide that changes the flow of fluid passing through a thrust region or the surroundings of a turbine composed of a vertical axis and a plurality of blades so that all blades located within the thrust region are affected by the fluid flow, thereby increasing the output of the turbine, and including a forward guide that induces the fluid flowing into the drag region of the turbine to bypass the turbine, thereby reducing drag.
[0002] As interest in eco-friendly industries grows, development of new and renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, and seawater is actively underway, moving away from conventional fossil fuels. Among these, fluid power generation devices that utilize wind or hydropower generate electricity using natural wind or flowing water as energy. They can be installed in a short period of time and have the advantage of being able to generate power day and night as long as there is a fluid flow.
[0003] The most common type of wind turbine that utilizes wind is composed of a nacelle with a generator built into the upper part of a tower in the form of a vertical column, and a rotor composed of a hub and a plurality of blades is provided at the front of the nacelle. Such a wind turbine can increase the output per unit area by increasing the size of the rotor.
[0004] However, as the size of the rotor increases, noise also increases, worsening the living environment of nearby residents and causing frequent complaints. In addition, since the power generation efficiency varies greatly depending on the wind direction, it is difficult to continuously and stably generate power.
[0005] In addition, vertical axis wind turbines are being operated that are not affected by changes in wind direction, produce less noise during operation, and can generate power even in relatively weak winds.
[0006] As a prior art document related to such a vertical axis wind turbine, Korean Patent No. 10-2505871 (registered on February 27, 2023, hereinafter referred to as “prior art document 1”) has been proposed. As illustrated in Fig. 1, the vertical axis wind turbine according to prior art document 1 comprises a pair of vertical blades (1) arranged adjacent to each other and facing each other, and a guide member (2) arranged in front of the pair of vertical blades (1) to form a forward flow.
[0007] The vertical axis wind power generator of the above prior art document 1 can improve power generation efficiency as the resistance of the vertical blade (1) is weakened and the wind collection is strengthened by the forward flow formed by the induction member (2).
[0008] However, the vertical axis wind power generator of prior art document 1 has a problem in that, among the multiple blades provided on the vertical blade (1), only the blades located within the A area, which corresponds to approximately 1 / 4, are affected by the forward flow and convert wind energy into mechanical energy, so there is a limitation in improving power generation efficiency.
[0009] The present invention has been devised to solve the above problems, and the purpose of the present invention is to provide a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device that increases the output of the turbine by changing the fluid flow around the turbine including the vertical axis so that all blades located in the thrust region are influenced by the forward flow to generate thrust, and the blades located in the drag region are not influenced by the reverse flow, thereby reducing drag.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to provide a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device capable of additionally increasing the output of a turbine by causing a blade located in a drag region to change the flow of fluid flowing into the drag region to generate thrust.
[0011] The present invention, which achieves the above-mentioned purpose and performs the task of eliminating the conventional problems, is characterized in that it includes a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device, in which a turbine (110) having a plurality of blades (112) that convert the movement of fluid having a direction around a vertical axis (111) into mechanical energy is connected to a generator (120), and the power generated by the rotation of the turbine (110) is transmitted to the generator (120) to produce electricity, and a forward guide (140) positioned in front of the turbine (110) so as to lead from the boundary point between the thrust region (T) and the drag region (D) of the turbine (110) to the drag region (D), and changes the flow of the fluid flowing in from the front to prevent a decrease in the thrust of the turbine (110).
[0012] In addition, a rear guide (130) positioned at the rear of the thrust region (T) of the turbine (110) and guiding the fluid flowing in from the front to the blade (112) positioned at the rear end of the thrust region (T) to increase the thrust of the turbine (110) may be further included.
[0013] In addition, the rear inductor (130) may be formed to have a concavely curved front surface (130a), an outer end protruding laterally from the turbine (110) so as to be spaced apart from the turbine (110), and an inner end positioned at the boundary point between the thrust region (T) and the drag region (D).
[0014] In addition, the front inductor (140) can increase the output of the turbine (110) by injecting the induced fluid in the rotational direction of the blade (112) located in the drag region (D).
[0015] In addition, the front guide (140) is composed of a plurality of segments (142) spaced apart along the circumferential direction of the turbine (110) in front of the drag area (D), and the guide path (141) can be formed between adjacent segments (142).
[0016] In addition, some of the segments (142) forming the above-described induction path (141) may be formed as a curved surface with a concave front surface (142a), and the curved surface may be formed such that a tangent line (TL) of the inner end is perpendicular to the radial center line (CL) of the turbine (110).
[0017] Additionally, some of the segments (142) forming the above-described induction path (141) may be formed as a folded surface in which two planes having an angle of less than 180 degrees are combined on the front surface (142a).
[0018] In addition, a high-tech protrusion (142b) may be formed at the rear of some segments (142) among the segments (142) forming the above-mentioned induction path (141) so as to face the front (142a) of the adjacent segment (142).
[0019] According to the high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device of the present invention, the fluid passing through the thrust region of the turbine or its surroundings is guided to the rear end of the thrust region due to a change in flow by the rear inducer, so that all blades located in the thrust region can generate thrust, thereby enabling high-efficiency power generation.
[0020] In particular, the forward inductor can further improve power generation efficiency by causing the fluid flowing in from the front to be ejected in the rotational direction of the blades located in the drag region, thereby causing the blades in the drag region to also generate thrust.
[0021] Furthermore, the forward guide is divided into a plurality of segments, and a plurality of guideways formed between adjacent segments can induce fluid to be ejected to different areas, thereby inducing a greater number of blades to generate thrust.
[0022] In addition, the advanced protrusions formed at the rear of some segments can fundamentally block the flow of fluid that is not guided by the front of the segment but flows directly toward the blade, thereby preventing some of the fluid that is not turned in the direction from flowing into the blade and generating drag.

[0028] Figure 6 is a plan view showing a detailed structure of a front guide according to another embodiment of the present invention.
[0029] Hereinafter, a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail based on matters illustrated in the drawings. However, if it is determined that a specific description of a related known function or configuration may unnecessarily obscure the gist of the present invention, the detailed description will be omitted.
[0030] As illustrated in FIG. 2, a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a turbine (110) having a plurality of blades (112) installed around a vertical shaft (111) that convert kinetic energy of a fluid into mechanical energy to generate thrust, and a generator (120) that receives power generated by the rotation of the turbine (110) to generate electricity, and is configured to generate electricity by utilizing a directional fluid flow. Here, the directional fluid may be wind or a tidal current.
[0031] An unillustrated booster may be provided between the turbine (110) and the generator (120) as described above to increase the output of the turbine (110) and transmit it to the generator (120), thereby improving the power generation efficiency.
[0032] As illustrated in FIG. 3, the plurality of blades (112) are provided in a radial structure around the vertical axis (111). Accordingly, some of the plurality of blades (112) are positioned in the thrust region (T) to generate thrust by the forward flow of the fluid, and the remaining blades (112) are positioned in the drag region (D) to generate drag while facing the reverse flow of the fluid. The thrust region (T) and the drag region (D) change depending on the inflow direction of the fluid, and a half-part in which the rotational direction of the blades (112) and the movement direction of the fluid are the same with respect to the vertical axis (111) can be defined as the thrust region (T), and a half-part in which the rotational direction of the blades (112) and the movement direction of the fluid are opposite can be defined as the drag region (D).
[0033] In addition, in the following description, forward and backward are based on the direction of fluid movement, and the direction in which fluid flows in can be defined as forward, and the direction in which fluid flows out can be defined as backward. However, the forward and backward directions are not fixed, and the forward and backward directions can change in response to the direction change of the power generation device due to the change in the direction of the fluid.
[0034] Meanwhile, the high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device of the present invention includes a rear guide (130) and a front guide (140), so that a greater number of blades (112) in the thrust region (T) are influenced by the forward flow to generate thrust, and in the drag region (D), the blades (112) are prevented from escaping from the influence of the reverse flow and generating drag, thereby enabling the implementation of high-efficiency power generation.
[0035] More specifically, as illustrated in FIG. 3, the rear guide (130) is installed adjacent to the turbine (110) at the rear of the thrust region (T) and is configured to extend vertically to guide the fluid flowing in from the front to the blade (112) located at the rear end of the thrust region (T). As a result, the blade (112) located at the front end of the thrust region (T) directly receives the flow of the fluid flowing in from the front of the thrust region (T) and generates thrust, and the blade (112) located at the rear end of the thrust region (T) receives the flow of the fluid induced by the rear guide (130) and generates thrust. Therefore, all the blades (112) within the thrust region (T) receive the flow of the fluid and generate thrust, thereby increasing the output of the turbine (110).
[0036] Meanwhile, a rear guide (130) according to one embodiment of the present invention is formed to be concavely curved and has a front surface (130a) facing the fluid flowing in from the front, and an outer end protrudes laterally from the turbine (110) so as to be spaced apart from the turbine (110), and an inner end is formed to be close to the blade (112) at the boundary point between the thrust region (T) and the drag region (D). Therefore, not only the fluid in front of the thrust region (T), but also the fluid passing around the thrust region (T) outside the thrust region (T) can be guided to the thrust region (T), so that a wider area of fluid can be utilized for thrust generation.
[0037] As illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4, the front guide (140) is installed adjacent to the turbine (110) in front of the drag region (D), and is configured to extend vertically to change the flow of fluid flowing in from the front and guide it in the rotational direction of the turbine (10) or outward from the turbine (110). Accordingly, the blade (112) located in the drag region (D) is prevented from generating drag by being removed from the reverse flow of the fluid.
[0038] In particular, a forward guide (140) according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a plurality of guideways (141), and the plurality of guideways (141) are configured to eject fluid guided by the forward guide (140) in the rotational direction of the blade (112) located in the drag region (D). Therefore, the blade (112) located in the drag region (D) can also receive the kinetic energy of the fluid and generate thrust. Of course, depending on the embodiment, the forward guide (140) may be configured to be formed continuously as a drag region (D) including a portion of the thrust region (T), as illustrated in FIG. 6, so that a portion of the fluid is ejected in the rotational direction of the blade (112) located in the thrust region (T).
[0039] In this way, the plurality of guideways (141) provided in the forward guide (140) can be formed by cutting a portion of the forward guide (140) in a slit shape, but it is not effective in terms of manufacturing or maintenance to cut and form a plurality of guideways (141) that are curved so that the flow of fluid flowing in from the front is ejected in the rotational direction of the blade (112). Accordingly, the forward guideway (140) according to one embodiment of the present invention is formed of a plurality of segments (142) spaced apart along the circumferential direction of the turbine (110) in front of the drag region (D), and the guideways (141) are formed between adjacent segments (142).
[0040] Here, each segment (142) has an independent structure, and the front surface (142a) of the segment (142) forming the guideway (141) is formed as a concavely curved surface, and it is preferable that the curved surface be formed so that the tangent line (TL) of the inner end adjacent to the turbine (110) is perpendicular to the radial center line (CL) of the turbine (110). Therefore, the fluid guided by the guideway (141) and ejected in the direction of the tangent line (TL) spreads inwardly of the turbine due to inertia and moves in the rotational direction of the blade (112) to collide with the blade (112) within the drag region (D), so that the blade (112) within the drag region (D) also generates thrust.
[0041] In addition, the guideway (141) is formed of a plurality of segments (142) spaced apart along the circumferential direction of the turbine (110) as illustrated in FIG. 6, and the plurality of segments (142) may include a segment (142) having a front surface (142a) formed as a flat inclined surface, and a segment (142) having a front surface (142a) formed as a folded surface in which two planes having an angle of less than 180 degrees are combined, and the segment (142) having the front surface (142a) of the flat inclined surface is formed spaced apart along the circumferential direction of the turbine (110) from the boundary point of the thrust region (T) and the drag region (D) to a position of about 40 to 50 degrees of the drag region (D), and the segment (142) having the front surface (142a) of the folded surface is formed from a position of about 40 to 50 degrees of the drag region (D) to a position of about 90 degrees. The segments (142) which may be formed spaced apart along the circumferential direction of the turbine (110) and, depending on the embodiment, have a flat, inclined front surface (142a), may also be formed in the thrust region (T) adjacent to the boundary point.
[0042] In addition, a leading edge protrusion (142b) may be formed at the rear of some segments (142) among the segments (142) so as to face the front (142a) of the adjacent segment (142). Such leading edge protrusion (142b) can solve the problem of some fluid that has not been changed in direction being guided to the blade (112) and forming drag. That is, the fluid that flows directly toward the blade (112) without being guided to the curved or folded surface is blocked by the leading edge protrusion (142b), thereby fundamentally blocking the generation of drag in the blade (112) within the drag region (D), thereby providing a more efficient power generation environment.
[0043] In addition, it is preferable that the plurality of guideways (141) formed in the forward guide (140) inject fluids from different positions to different blades (112) of the turbine (110), so that multiple blades (112) in the drag region (D) generate thrust together. This provides the advantage of generating additional thrust up to the entire 90° region in front of the drag region (D).
[0044] As shown in FIG. 2, the rear inductor (130) and the front inductor (140) are connected to each other at the upper end by the upper support (151) and at the lower end by the lower support (152), and the upper support (151) and the lower support (152) are connected to each other via the rear inductor (130) and the front inductor (140) to form one induction structure (150).
[0045] The guide structure (150) formed in this way is supported in a rotatable structure on a base structure (100) with a lower support (152) fixed to the lower portion, with the vertical axis (111) of the turbine (110) positioned at the center, and a directional blade (153) for inducing a change in direction of the guide structure (150) in response to a change in direction of the fluid may be provided to protrude in a vertical position at the rear end of the guide structure (150). Accordingly, the rear guide (130) and the front guide (140) move and change positions due to the rotation of the guide structure (150) according to the change in direction of the wind, so that the rear guide (130) is positioned at the rear of the turbine (110) and the front guide (140) is positioned at the front of the turbine (110) regardless of the change in direction of the fluid.
[0046] As illustrated in FIG. 5, the high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device of the present invention generates thrust in the blade (112) by utilizing all of the fluid flowing in from the front of the thrust region (T), the fluid passing around the thrust region (T), and the fluid guided by the front guide (140), so that a significant number of the blades (112) provided in the turbine (110) can be used for energy conversion, thereby enabling the implementation of a high-efficiency fluid power generation device capable of generating power even in weak winds or currents.
[0047] It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device according to the present invention described above can be implemented in other specific forms without changing the technical idea or essential features of the present invention.
[0048] Therefore, it should be understood that the embodiments described above are exemplary in all respects and not restrictive, and the scope of the present invention is indicated by the claims described below rather than the detailed description described above, and all changes or modifications derived from the meaning and scope of the claims and equivalent concepts should be interpreted as being included in the scope of the present invention.
[0049] The present invention relates to a vertical axis fluid power generation device, in which a turbine having a plurality of blades that convert the movement of a fluid having a directionality around a vertical axis into mechanical energy is connected to a generator, and power generated by the rotation of the turbine is transmitted to the generator to produce electricity, and includes a forward inducer positioned in front of the turbine so as to lead from a boundary point between a thrust region and a drag region of the turbine to a drag region, and changing the flow of a fluid flowing in from the front to prevent a decrease in the thrust of the turbine.
[0050] The blades located in the drag region are not affected by the reverse flow by the forward guide, so the drag is reduced, and thus a high-efficiency vertical axis fluid power generation device with increased turbine output can be provided, and thus, there is industrial applicability.
