Description

Coating system for electrode slurry and coating method for electrode slurry

[0001] This application claims the benefit of priority from Republic of Korea Patent Application No. 10-2023-0124418, filed on September 19, 2023.

[0002] The present invention relates to a coating system for electrode slurry and a coating method for electrode slurry.

[0003]

[0004] As technological development and demand for mobile devices increase, the demand for secondary batteries as an energy source is rapidly increasing. Recently, the use of secondary batteries as a power source for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) has become a reality, and among such secondary batteries, the demand for lithium secondary batteries with high energy density, high discharge voltage, and output stability is high.

[0005] In particular, lithium secondary batteries used as power sources for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) require high energy density and the ability to generate large output in a short period of time.

[0006] In general, lithium secondary batteries are manufactured by using materials capable of inserting and de-inserting lithium ions as the anode and cathode, and filling an organic electrolyte or polymer electrolyte between the anode and cathode, and generating electrical energy through oxidation and reduction reactions when lithium ions are inserted and de-inserted from the anode and cathode.

[0007] At this time, the negative electrode and the positive electrode include an electrode active material layer on the current collector of each electrode, and such electrode can be manufactured by mixing and stirring the electrode active material with a binder and a solvent, and, if necessary, a conductive agent and a dispersant to prepare an electrode slurry, and then coating the electrode slurry on the current collector using a slot die coater, and drying and rolling.

[0008] In the electrode slurry coating process, it is important to manage the electrode slurry loading amount to ensure uniformity for electrode quality control. Conventionally, this has been accomplished by measuring the electrode slurry loading amount during the initial condition adjustment stage of the coating process, repeatedly adjusting the motor RPM (Rotation Per Minute) until the measured electrode slurry loading amount satisfies the control range, and then converting the measured information using a web gauge on the dried electrode into the electrode slurry loading amount before drying. However, this method has the problem of significant material loss because it requires repeated motor RPM adjustments, and changes in the electrode slurry loading amount due to changes in the flow rate of the electrode slurry during the coating process, such as filter clogging or pump malfunctions, can only be confirmed after the electrode drying process. Furthermore, this method cannot perform a 100% inspection, which can lead to the generation of non-compliant products.

[0009] Therefore, there is a need for technological development for an electrode slurry coating system and method capable of managing the loading amount of electrode slurry in real time.

[0010]

[0011] The technical idea of the present invention aims to solve a problem by providing an electrode slurry coating system and an electrode slurry coating method that reliably calculate a predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount in real time during the coating process when coating the electrode slurry, and automatically control the loading amount so that the calculated predicted value satisfies a management range.

[0012]

[0013] According to one embodiment of the present invention, a coating system for electrode slurry is provided. The coating system for electrode slurry includes: a supply pipe that connects a supply tank for storing electrode slurry and a coating die for applying the electrode slurry onto an electrode substrate, and serves as a transport path of the electrode slurry from the supply tank to the coating die; a mass flow meter installed on the path of the supply pipe for measuring the flow rate of the electrode slurry transported through the supply pipe and the density of the electrode slurry; and a control unit that calculates a loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry based on measurement information measured by the mass flow meter, and controls the calculated loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry so that it satisfies a loading amount management range.

[0014] An electrode slurry coating system according to one embodiment further includes a pump configured to provide a driving force for transporting the electrode slurry to the coating die.

[0015] In one embodiment, the control unit includes a calculation unit that calculates a predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry by substituting the flow rate value of the electrode slurry and the density value of the electrode slurry measured by the mass flow meter into the following mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2.

[0016] [Mathematical Formula 1]

[0017] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {1- (Density of solvent in electrode slurry / Density of electrode slurry)}] / A

[0018] [Equation 2]

[0019] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {Solid concentration of electrode slurry / (Coating width length of electrode slurry × Coating speed of electrode slurry)}] + B

[0020] An electrode slurry coating system according to one embodiment further includes a loading amount measuring device for measuring a loading amount of electrode slurry coated on an electrode, and the calculation unit may be configured to calculate the correction constant A of Equation 1 from a loading amount measurement value of the electrode slurry measured by the loading amount measuring device and a loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry calculated by substituting the value into Equation 1, when the correction constant A is not determined.

[0021] In one embodiment, the control unit controls the RPM (Rotation per Minute) of the pump to be adjusted until the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry produced satisfies the loading amount management range.

[0022] In one embodiment, the control unit controls to start or continue the electrode coating process when the predicted loading amount of the produced electrode slurry satisfies the loading amount management range.

[0023] The above control unit controls to generate an alarm sound when the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry produced above does not satisfy the loading amount management range.

[0024] An electrode slurry coating system according to one embodiment further includes an HMI (Human-machine interface) for communication with the control unit.

[0025] According to another embodiment of the present invention, a method for coating electrode slurry is provided. The method for coating electrode slurry includes: (a) a process for setting coating process conditions according to an electrode model; (b) a process for setting the RPM of a pump; (c) a process for test-coating electrode slurry on an electrode substrate according to the set coating process conditions; (d) a process for determining whether a predicted value of a loading amount of the electrode slurry satisfies a loading amount management range of the electrode slurry; and (e) a coating process for coating the electrode slurry by initiating a coating process if the predicted value is determined to be satisfied in the determination process. The process for test-coating the electrode slurry includes: (c-1) a process for measuring a flow rate of the electrode slurry and a density of the electrode slurry; and (c-2) a process for calculating a predicted value of a loading amount of the electrode slurry based on measurement information.

[0026] In one embodiment, the process of measuring the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry (c-1) is such that the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry are measured by a mass flow meter installed on the path of the supply pipe.

[0027] In one embodiment, the process of calculating the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry (c-2) is to calculate the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry by substituting the flow rate value of the electrode slurry and the density value of the electrode slurry into the following mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2.

[0028] [Mathematical Formula 1]

[0029] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {1- (Density of solvent in electrode slurry / Density of electrode slurry)}] / A

[0030] [Equation 2]

[0031] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {Solid concentration of electrode slurry / (Coating width length of electrode slurry × Coating speed of electrode slurry)}] + B

[0032] In one embodiment, if the judgment process (d) is judged as unsatisfactory, the processes (b) to (d) are repeated until the judgment process is judged as satisfactory.

[0033] In one embodiment, the process of setting the RPM of the pump of (b) above comprises:

[0034] When the correction constant A of the above mathematical expression 1 is determined, the RPM of the pump is set so that the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry in the above mathematical expression 1 satisfies the target loading amount of the electrode slurry,

[0035] In a case where the correction constant A of the above mathematical expression 1 is not determined, a process is included for setting the RPM of the pump so that the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated according to the above mathematical expression 2 satisfies the target loading amount of the electrode slurry.

[0036] A coating method of an electrode slurry according to one embodiment further includes (f) a loading amount measuring process for measuring a loading amount of the electrode slurry applied on an electrode substrate.

[0037] A coating method of an electrode slurry according to one embodiment further includes a process of calculating the correction constant A of the mathematical formula 1 so that, when the correction constant A of the mathematical formula 1 is not determined, the predicted loading amount value of the electrode slurry calculated by substituting it into the mathematical formula 1 is equal to the measured loading amount value of the electrode slurry.

[0038] In one embodiment, the coating method of electrode slurry further includes a process of recalculating the correction constant A of mathematical expression 1 when the difference between the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated according to mathematical expression 1 and the measured value of the electrode slurry loading amount measured in the loading amount measurement process (f) exceeds a reference range, when the correction constant A of mathematical expression 1 is determined.

[0039] In one embodiment, the coating process (e) comprises:

[0040] (e-1) Process for measuring the flow rate of electrode slurry and the density of electrode slurry;

[0041] (e-2) A process for calculating a predicted loading amount of electrode slurry based on measurement information;

[0042] (e-3) A judgment process for determining whether the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry satisfies the loading amount management range of the electrode slurry; and

[0043] (e-4) In the case where the above judgment process is judged to be unsatisfactory, a process of readjusting the RPM of the pump is included.

[0044] In one embodiment, the coating process conditions include one or more of a target value of the electrode slurry loading amount, a coating speed of the electrode slurry, a coating width length, and a solids concentration of the electrode slurry.

[0045]

[0046] The electrode slurry coating system and coating method according to the present invention, in managing the loading amount of the electrode slurry, is based on information measured in the state of the electrode slurry rather than on a loading amount measurement value after drying the electrode, and thus, compared to the conventional technology that determines whether there is a loading defect only after drying, waste of electrode material can be minimized.

[0047] The electrode slurry coating system and coating method according to the present invention calculate a predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount from the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry, which are easy to measure, rather than based on the measured value of the electrode slurry loading amount, thereby improving the convenience of managing the loading amount.

[0048] The electrode slurry coating system and coating method according to the present invention can improve reliability because, in principle, the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount is based on the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry, rather than on the solid content concentration of the electrode slurry.

[0049] The electrode slurry coating system and coating method according to the present invention include a control unit that controls the RPM of a pump so that a predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount calculated based on measurement information measured in real time satisfies the loading amount management range of the electrode slurry, thereby reducing the occurrence rate of loading failure.

[0082]

[0083] Electrode slurry coating system

[0084] The present invention provides a coating system for electrode slurry as a first embodiment.

[0085]

[0086] (First embodiment)

[0087] FIG. 1 is a block diagram of an electrode slurry coating system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of an electrode slurry coating system according to a first embodiment.

[0088] Referring to these drawings, an electrode slurry coating system (100) according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include a supply tank (110), a coating die (120), a supply pipe (130), a pump (140), a mass flow meter (150), a control unit (160), an HMI (170), and valves (181, 182).

[0089] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the mass flow meter (150) is installed on the path of the supply pipe (130), the flow rate of the electrode slurry transported in the supply pipe (130) and the density of the electrode slurry are measured by the mass flow meter (150), and the control unit (160) calculates a loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry based on the measurement information, and controls the calculated loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry so that it satisfies a preset loading amount management range. Therefore, since the loading amount of the electrode slurry is managed in real time through the loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry during the coating process of the electrode slurry, compared to the conventional technology in which the change in the loading amount of the electrode slurry could only be confirmed after the drying process of the electrode, the occurrence rate of electrodes that deviate from the material loss and loading amount management specifications can be reduced.

[0090] Hereinafter, the electrode slurry coating system of the present invention will be described in detail.

[0091] The supply tank (110) may have an internal space capable of accommodating electrode slurry to store electrode slurry containing an electrode active material. The supply tank (110) may be configured to supply the electrode slurry to the coating die (120) through an appropriate means. In some embodiments, a stirrer may be provided within the supply tank (110) to uniformly mix the electrode slurry, and the electrode slurry coating system (100) may further include a driving device capable of driving the stirrer.

[0092] The above electrode slurry may be a positive electrode slurry containing a positive electrode active material or a negative electrode slurry containing a negative electrode active material.

[0093] The coating die (120) may be configured to coat the electrode slurry transferred from the supply tank (110) onto an electrode substrate. The coating die (120) may be configured so that the electrode slurry can be applied onto the electrode substrate with an appropriate width and thickness. The coating die (120) may have a slot that can discharge the electrode slurry with a predetermined width and thickness, and may have an internal structure that allows the electrode slurry to be discharged at a constant pressure throughout.

[0094] The above supply pipe (130) connects the supply tank (110) and the coating die (120), and serves as a path through which the electrode slurry is transported from the supply tank (110) to the coating die (120).

[0095] A pump (140) may be provided on the above supply pipe (130). Here, when it is said that a specific element is provided 'on' a pipe, it means that the specific element is interposed in the middle of the pipe extension or that the specific element is connected to the end of the pipe, and the same applies hereinafter unless specifically stated otherwise.

[0096] The pump (140) may be configured to provide a driving force for transporting the electrode slurry to the coating die (120). The pump (140) provides a driving force to transport the electrode slurry to the coating die (120) through the supply pipe (130) by applying a pressure of a predetermined range to the electrode slurry stored in the supply tank (110). In some embodiments, the pump (140) may be a pump that forcibly transports the electrode slurry. In some embodiments, the pump (140) may be a pump that transports the electrode slurry by providing a centrifugal force to the electrode slurry. However, the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0097] One or more filters (F) may be provided along the path of the supply pipe (130). In some embodiments, a magnetic first filter may be provided along the supply pipe (130). The first filter may be provided to remove specific impurities having a long-lasting property within the electrode slurry.

[0098] In some embodiments, a second filter may be provided on the supply pipe (130). The second filter may include a filter membrane for filtering foreign substances within the electrode slurry.

[0099] A return pipe (190) may be provided along the path of the supply pipe (130). The return pipe (190) is configured to branch off from the supply pipe (130) and return to the supply tank (110) in order to recover a portion of the electrode slurry to the supply tank (110) when the line stops. In some embodiments, the return pipe (190) may branch off from the supply pipe (130) via a tee pipe.

[0100] The above supply pipe (130) may include one or more valves (181, 182) for controlling the flow path of the electrode slurry. Specifically, the valves may include a supply valve (181) for controlling the transfer of the electrode slurry to the coating die (120) and a return valve (182) for controlling the return of the electrode slurry to the supply tank (110).

[0101] In some embodiments, the supply valve (181) and the return valve (182) may each be an on-off valve configured to be opened and closed by an electrical signal, hydraulic pressure, or pneumatic pressure. In some embodiments, the supply valve (181) and the return valve (182) may each be a control valve whose degree of opening may be precisely controlled by an electrical signal, hydraulic pressure, or pneumatic pressure.

[0102] The above supply valve (181) may be provided between the branch point where the return pipe (190) branches off from the supply pipe (130) and the coating die (120). The return valve (182) may be provided between the branch point where the return pipe (190) branches off from the supply pipe (130) and the supply tank (110).

[0103] By controlling the opening and closing of the supply valve (181) and the return valve (182), the flow path and / or the flow rate of the electrode slurry can be controlled. In some embodiments, when the supply valve (181) is opened while the return valve (182) is closed, the electrode slurry can be supplied entirely to the coating die (120) without being returned to the supply tank (110). In some other embodiments, when the return valve (182) is opened while the supply valve (181) is closed, the electrode slurry can be returned entirely to the supply tank (110) without being supplied to the coating die (120).

[0104] The supply pipe (130) may be provided with one or more pressure gauges. The pressure gauges may be provided at any location on the supply pipe (130) where pressure measurement is required. The pressure gauges may be configured to generate an electrical signal in response to the conveying pressure of the electrode slurry, or may be configured to generate a pneumatic signal.

[0105] In some embodiments, the pressure gauge may be provided between the pump (140) and the coating die (120). In some embodiments, the pressure gauge may be provided between the pump (140) and the mass flow meter (150). In some embodiments, the pressure gauge may be provided between the first filter and the second filter and between the second filter and the mass flow meter (150).

[0106] The mass flow meter (150) may be installed on the path of the supply pipe (130) and configured to measure the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry transported through the supply pipe. In some embodiments, the mass flow meter (150) may be configured to measure the flow rate of the electrode slurry flowing per unit time and calculate the density of the electrode slurry therefrom. In some embodiments, the mass flow meter (150) may include a temperature sensor to compensate for the influence of temperature, considering that each measured value of the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry is influenced by temperature. In some embodiments, the mass flow meter (150) may be a Coriolis mass flow meter configured to directly measure the flow rate, density, and temperature of the electrode slurry.

[0107] The above control unit (160) calculates a predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry based on the measurement information measured by the mass flow meter (150), and controls the calculated predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry so that it satisfies the loading amount management range.

[0108] In some embodiments, the control unit (160) may include a calculation unit to calculate a predicted value of the loading amount of the electrode slurry, and the calculation unit may calculate a predicted value of the loading amount of the electrode slurry by substituting the flow rate value of the electrode slurry and the density value of the electrode slurry measured by the mass flow meter into the following mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2.

[0109] [Mathematical Formula 1]

[0110] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {1- (Density of solvent in electrode slurry / Density of electrode slurry)}] / A

[0111] [Equation 2]

[0112] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {Solid concentration of electrode slurry / (Coating width length of electrode slurry × Coating speed of electrode slurry)}] + B

[0113] Here, the correction constant A and the correction constant B are correction constants for reflecting errors in measured values, errors caused by coating equipment, etc., respectively. The predicted loading amount calculated according to mathematical expression 1 or mathematical expression 2 is based on at least one of the measured values of flow rate, density, and solid concentration, and these measured values may vary depending on the measurement environment and conditions. In addition, even if the measured values are the same, the predicted value may vary depending on the coating equipment. Since the correction constant A and the correction constant B can reflect such measurement errors and coating equipment errors, the accuracy of the predicted loading amount can be improved.

[0114] And, these correction constants A and B can be calculated from the measured value of the loading amount and the predicted value of the loading amount, and after the correction constants A and B are determined, the loading amount can be predicted according to the mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2 without measuring the loading amount.

[0115] The electrode slurry coating system (100) according to the present invention has the advantage of convenience because it is possible to manage the loading amount of the electrode slurry based on the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated according to the mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2, and therefore there is no need to measure the loading amount of the electrode slurry in the electrode slurry state. In addition, since errors caused by the coating equipment can be corrected through the correction constant A and / or the correction constant B, the reliability thereof can be improved.

[0116] If the correction constant A is already known or has been determined, the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry can be calculated according to the above mathematical expression 1. In the above mathematical expression 1, the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry are each substituted with values measured by a mass flow meter (150). In addition, in the above mathematical expression 1, the density of the solvent of the electrode slurry is substituted with the density value of a solvent such as NMP or water. In the above mathematical expression 1, A is a correction constant for correcting errors caused by the coating equipment.

[0117] When the correction constant A is not known or has not been determined, the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry can be calculated according to the above mathematical expression 2. In the above mathematical expression 2, the solid concentration of the electrode slurry, the coating width length of the electrode slurry, and the coating speed of the electrode slurry are substituted with values preset for each electrode model. In addition, the flow rate of the electrode slurry in the above mathematical expression 2 is substituted with a value measured by the mass flow meter. In addition, in the above mathematical expression 2, B is a correction constant for correcting an error caused by the coating equipment.

[0118] In the above mathematical expression 2, the solid concentration of the electrode slurry changes depending on the change in the electrode slurry over time, so the measured value of the solid concentration has an error. That is, the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry according to mathematical expression 2 may have an error due to the actual measurement error of the solid concentration of the electrode slurry, and therefore, mathematical expression 1 can be more reliable than mathematical expression 2 in predicting the loading amount of the electrode slurry.

[0119] Accordingly, the electrode slurry coating system (100) according to the present invention basically calculates the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry according to mathematical formula 1, but in cases where the correction constant A of mathematical formula 1 is not known or determined, the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry can be calculated auxiliaryly according to mathematical formula 2.

[0120] The electrode slurry coating system (100) may further include a loading amount meter (not shown) to derive a correction constant A when the electrode slurry loading amount prediction value cannot be calculated according to the above mathematical expression 1. In addition, even when the electrode slurry loading amount prediction value can be calculated according to the mathematical expression 1, a loading amount meter may be required to recalculate the correction constant A due to reasons such as measurement tolerance of the mass flow meter due to changes over time in the coating process.

[0121] In some embodiments, the control unit (160) controls to perform a test coating process before starting the electrode coating process in earnest, and can derive a correction constant A during the test coating process.

[0122] The type of the above-mentioned loading amount measuring device is not limited as long as it is a means capable of measuring the loading amount of electrode slurry applied to the electrode substrate. In some embodiments, the loading amount measuring device may be a web gauge.

[0123] In theory, since the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry should match the measured loading amount of the electrode slurry, the correction constant A of the mathematical expression 1 or the correction constant B of the mathematical expression 2 can be calculated from the measured loading amount of the electrode slurry measured by the loading amount measuring device and the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated by substituting it into the mathematical expression 1 or the mathematical expression 2.

[0124]

[0125] The control unit (160) can control to adjust the RPM (Rotation per Minute) of the pump until the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated according to the mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2 satisfies the management range of the loading amount. Specifically, the control unit (160) can control to increase the RPM of the pump to increase the loading amount when the predicted loading amount value is smaller than the management range of the loading amount, and conversely, can control to decrease the RPM of the pump to decrease the loading amount when the predicted loading amount value is larger than the management range of the loading amount.

[0126] In some embodiments, the control unit (160) can control to initiate an electrode coating process when the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated as described above satisfies the loading amount management range.

[0127] In some embodiments, the control unit (160) may calculate a predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount based on the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry measured in real time even after the electrode coating process is initiated, determine whether the calculated predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount satisfies the management range of the electrode slurry loading amount, and control the RPM of the pump if the management range is not satisfied.

[0128] In some embodiments, the control unit (160) can control to generate a warning sound when the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated as described above does not satisfy the loading amount management range.

[0129] As a non-limiting example, the control unit (160) may be a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). A PLC is a special type of microprocessor-based controller that uses programmable memory to store commands and implement functions such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting, and arithmetic to control machines and processes. PLCs are easy to operate and program.

[0130] In some embodiments, the control unit (160) may include a CPU, an input interface, an output interface, a communication interface, and memory devices.

[0131] The above memory devices may include a Read Only Memory (ROM) configured to store a system program such as an operating system, and a Random Access Memory (RAM) configured to store data such as user programs and status information of input and output devices, values of timers, counters, and other internal devices.

[0132] The CPU may be configured to implement logic and control communication between modules that convert input signals into output operation signals. The CPU may operate based on system programs and user programs stored in memory devices. The CPU may be configured to write or read measurement data to or from the data areas of the memory devices based on the system programs and user programs.

[0133] Coating process conditions or data for each electrode model can be transmitted to the CPU via the above input interface. Results processed by the CPU can be output via the output interface.

[0134] In some embodiments, the electrode slurry coating system (100) may further include an HMI (Human-machine interface) for communication with the control unit (160). An operator may input an electrode model to be coated through the HMI, and the control unit may output, through the HMI, preset electrode coating process conditions (target value of loading amount, coating speed, coating width length, solid concentration) for the input electrode model, a flow rate value of the electrode slurry measured in real time and a density value of the electrode slurry, a predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount, a temperature measurement value of the electrode slurry, and judgment information for determining whether the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount conforms to a management range of the loading amount.

[0135] FIG. 7 is a drawing illustrating an HMI of an electrode slurry coating system according to the first embodiment.

[0136] Referring to Fig. 7, if you touch the "SET" tab of ①, you can move to the HMI where the coating process condition data is output. If you touch the "LOAD" tab of ②, you can load and input the coating process condition data. And the coating process conditions selected in this way (model name, target value of loading amount, coating speed, coating width length, and solid concentration of electrode slurry) can be output through the HMI as in ③. And, the flow rate measurement value of the electrode slurry measured by the mass flow meter (150), the density measurement value of the electrode slurry, and the temperature measurement value can be output through the HMI as in ④, and the predicted value of the loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated based on the measurement information of the mass flow meter can be output through the HMI as in ⑤.

[0137] And, by comparing the loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry with the loading amount management range of the electrode slurry, if the loading amount prediction value of the electrode slurry is out of the loading amount management range, an alarm can be set as in ⑥ to warn. In an exemplary embodiment, the loading amount management range can be classified into a first management range, which is a desirable management range, and a second management range, which is a standard for good and defective products. And, if the loading amount prediction value is within the first management range, the loading amount prediction value can be output in green, and if the loading amount prediction value is out of the first management range but does not go out of the second management range, the loading amount prediction value can be output in yellow, and if the loading amount prediction value is out of the second management range, the loading amount prediction value can be output in red.

[0138] If the electrode slurry coating system (100) includes a loading amount meter (not shown), the measurement value by the loading amount meter can be input by touching the tab of ⑦.

[0139] And, since the correction constant A of the above mathematical expression 1 is determined, if the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry is calculated according to the mathematical expression 1, it can be output as “Active” for “Offset” of ⑧ in the sense that the applied constant A has been determined. However, since the correction constant A of the above mathematical expression 1 is not determined, the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry cannot be calculated according to the mathematical expression 1, and if the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry is calculated according to the mathematical expression 2, it can be output as “Inactive” for “Offset” of ⑧.

[0151] Electrode slurry coating method

[0152] The present invention provides a coating method of electrode slurry as a second embodiment.

[0153] FIG. 4 is a flowchart for explaining a coating method of electrode slurry according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention, and FIG. 5 is a flowchart for explaining a test coating process according to exemplary embodiments of the present invention.

[0154] Referring to FIG. 4, a coating method of electrode slurry according to an embodiment of the present invention may include (a) a process of setting coating process conditions according to an electrode model (P110), (b) a process of setting the RPM of a pump (P120), (c) a process of test coating (P130), (d) a process of determining whether a predicted value of the loading amount of the electrode slurry satisfies a loading amount management range of the electrode slurry (P140), and (e) a coating process (P150). In addition, referring to FIG. 5, the process of test coating the electrode slurry (c) may include (c-1) a process of measuring a flow rate of the electrode slurry and a density of the electrode slurry (P131); and (c-2) a process of calculating a predicted value of the loading amount of the electrode slurry based on the measurement information (P132).

[0155] According to the electrode slurry coating method according to one embodiment of the present invention, the electrode slurry loading amount prediction value is calculated based on the flow rate value and the density value of the electrode slurry measured in the test coating process (P130), and the coating process (P150) is started only when the calculated electrode slurry loading amount prediction value satisfies the loading amount management range, so that material loss can be minimized compared to the conventional technology described above. In addition, during the coating process (P150), the electrode slurry loading amount can be managed in real time through the measurement of the flow rate and the density of the electrode slurry with high measurement accuracy, so that the reliability and convenience of loading management can be improved.

[0156] The electrode slurry coating method according to some embodiments may be to coat the electrode slurry using the electrode slurry coating system (100) described above.

[0157] In some embodiments, the step (P110) of setting the coating process conditions according to the electrode model may include a step of inputting a model of an electrode to be coated and loading the coating process conditions preset for each electrode model. In some embodiments, the coating process conditions may be one or two or more of a loading amount target value, a coating speed (m / s) of the electrode slurry, a coating width length, and a solids concentration of the electrode slurry.

[0158] In some embodiments, the step (P120) of setting the RPM of the pump (b) may be a step of tentatively setting the RPM of the pump in a circulating state of the electrode slurry before the start of the test coating and / or coating process. Here, the circulating state of the electrode slurry may be a state in which the electrode slurry is transferred from the supply tank to the coating die via the supply pipe, and may be a state before the electrode slurry is discharged from the coating die. Alternatively, the electrode slurry may be transferred from the supply tank to the coating die via the supply pipe and returned to the supply tank via the return pipe.

[0159] In some embodiments, the step (P120) of setting the RPM of the pump (b) may be a step of setting the RPM of the pump so that the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry becomes the target loading amount set in the step (a). Here, the target loading amount may be the set loading amount of the corresponding electrode model, and is a concept distinct from the loading amount management range. If the former is a specific value, the latter may be a range of loading amount values that serve as a standard for good and defective products.

[0160] In some embodiments, when an electrode model is input through the HMI, the control unit (160) can output coating process conditions including a loading amount target value for the electrode model input through the HMI through the HMI. In addition, the control unit (160) can calculate a loading amount prediction value according to the following mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2, automatically calculate the RPM of the pump so that the calculated loading amount prediction value becomes the loading amount target value, and output the automatically calculated RPM of the pump through the HMI.

[0161] [Mathematical Formula 1]

[0162] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {1- (Density of solvent in electrode slurry / Density of electrode slurry)}] / A

[0163] [Equation 2]

[0164] Loading amount prediction value = [Flow rate of electrode slurry × {Solid concentration of electrode slurry / (Coating width length of electrode slurry × Coating speed of electrode slurry)}] + B

[0165] When the correction constant A is determined, the loading amount prediction value can be calculated according to mathematical formula 1, and when the correction constant A is not determined, the loading amount prediction value can be calculated according to mathematical formula 2.

[0166] The above (c) process of test-coating the electrode slurry (P130) is a step for adjusting the RPM of the motor and fine-tuning the coating width and length of the electrode slurry to satisfy the target value of the electrode slurry loading amount while coating the electrode slurry according to the set coating process conditions in an environment where the electrode slurry is actually coated, rather than in a slurry circulation state before coating.

[0167] The above (c) process of test-coating the electrode slurry (P130) may include (c-1) a process of measuring the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry (P131) to readjust the RPM of the motor so that the predicted electrode slurry loading amount satisfies the target electrode slurry loading amount value; and (c-2) a process of calculating the predicted electrode slurry loading amount based on the measurement information (P132). As the step changes from the slurry circulation state before coating to the coating process state, the predicted electrode slurry loading amount may change slightly. Therefore, in the (c) process of test-coating the electrode slurry (P130), the flow rate and the electrode slurry are measured in real time, and the predicted electrode slurry loading amount is calculated based on the measured value of the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the measured value of the density of the electrode slurry.

[0168] The process of measuring the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry (c-1) above may be such that the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry are measured by a mass flow meter (150) installed on the path of the supply pipe (130). Since the mass flow meter (150) has been described in detail above, a duplicate description will be omitted.

[0169] The process of calculating the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry (c-2) above may be to calculate the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry by substituting the flow rate value of the electrode slurry and the density value of the electrode slurry into the mathematical expression 1 and / or mathematical expression 2.

[0170] When the correction constant A is determined, the loading amount prediction value can be calculated according to mathematical formula 1, and when the correction constant A is not determined, the loading amount prediction value can be calculated according to mathematical formula 2.

[0171] In some embodiments, when calculating the loading amount of the electrode slurry according to the above mathematical formula 1, the flow rate value of the electrode slurry and the density value of the electrode slurry substituted into the above mathematical formula 1 may be the average value of the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the average value of the density of the electrode slurry measured 6 to 10 seconds before the end of the test coating process of (c).

[0172] The process of test coating the electrode slurry (P130) above (c) is terminated by closing the supply pipe (130) by operating the valve (181), and thereafter, the judgment process of (d) above is performed.

[0173] The above (d) judgment process is a process of judging whether the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry satisfies the loading amount management range of the electrode slurry.

[0174] If the above (d) judgment process (P140) is judged as satisfactory, the (e) coating process (P150) can be initiated. However, if the above (d) judgment process (P140) is judged as unsatisfactory, the above (b) pump RPM setting process (P120) to (d) judgment process (P140) are repeated until the above judgment process (P140) is judged as satisfactory. And only when the above (d) judgment process (P140) is judged as satisfactory, the (e) coating process (P150) is initiated.

[0175] The above (e) coating process ((P150) may include (e-1) a process of measuring the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry (P151); (e-2) a process of calculating a predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount based on the measurement information (P152); (e-3) a judgment process of determining whether the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount satisfies the loading amount management range of the electrode slurry (P153); and (e-4) a process of readjusting the RPM of the pump (P154) if the predicted value is determined to be unsatisfactory in the judgment process. Accordingly, the loading amount of the electrode slurry can be appropriately managed in real time during the coating process.

[0176]

[0177] Hereinafter, with reference to FIG. 4, when the correction constant A is determined, a coating method of electrode slurry according to the present invention will be described in detail.

[0178] When the correction constant A is determined, the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount is calculated according to mathematical expression 1. Specifically, in the process of (b) setting the RPM of the pump (P120), the RPM of the pump can be tentatively set so that the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount calculated according to mathematical expression 1 can satisfy the target value of the loading amount. (c) In the process of test coating (P130), the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount can also be calculated according to mathematical expression 1. In addition, when it is determined to be unsatisfactory in the judgment process (d), the process returns to the process of (b) setting the RPM of the pump (P120) and the RPM of the pump can be readjusted so that the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount calculated according to mathematical expression 1 can satisfy the target value of the loading amount.

[0179] In some embodiments, the method for coating an electrode slurry may further include (f) a loading amount measuring step for measuring the loading amount of the electrode slurry applied on the electrode substrate. Ideally, the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry is the same as the measured loading amount of the electrode slurry. As described below, when initially determining the correction constant A of mathematical expression 1, the correction constant A is determined so that the predicted loading amount according to mathematical expression 1 and the measured loading amount are the same. However, due to reasons such as measurement tolerance of the mass flow meter due to changes over time in the coating process, the difference between the predicted loading amount according to mathematical expression 1 and the measured loading amount may gradually increase. Therefore, when the difference between the predicted loading amount of the electrode slurry calculated according to mathematical expression 1 and the measured loading amount of the electrode slurry measured in the (f) loading amount measuring step exceeds a reference range, it is preferable to include a step of recalculating the correction constant A of mathematical expression 1.

[0180] In some embodiments, the (f) loading amount measurement process may be performed after the (c) test coating process (P130). Furthermore, in some embodiments, the (f) loading amount measurement process may be performed even during the (e) coating process.

[0181]

[0182] Hereinafter, with reference to FIG. 6, a coating method of electrode slurry according to the present invention is described in detail when the correction constant A is not determined.

[0183] If the correction constant A is not determined, the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount cannot be directly calculated according to mathematical formula 1, and therefore, the process of setting the RPM of the pump (b) may include a process of setting the RPM of the pump so that the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount calculated according to mathematical formula 2 satisfies the target value of the electrode slurry loading amount. In addition, the process may further include a process (P160) of measuring the loading amount of the electrode slurry to calculate the correction constant A of mathematical formula 1; and a process (P170) of calculating the correction constant A of mathematical formula 1 so that the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount calculated by substituting it into mathematical formula 1 is the same as the measured value of the electrode slurry loading amount.

[0184] Accordingly, once the correction constant A is derived, the predicted value of the electrode slurry loading amount can be calculated according to mathematical expression 1.

[0185] Except for the process of calculating the correction constant A of the above mathematical expression 1 (P170), the remaining processes (P110 to P160) have been described in detail above, so redundant explanations are omitted.

[0186] The electrode slurry coating system (100, 200) and the electrode slurry coating method according to the present invention can manage the loading amount of the electrode slurry through measurement of the flow rate of the electrode slurry and the density of the electrode slurry with high measurement accuracy, and thus have the effect of improving the reliability and convenience of loading amount management.

[0187]

[0188] The present invention has been described in more detail through the drawings and examples. However, the configurations described in the drawings or examples described in this specification are merely embodiments of the present invention and do not represent all of the technical ideas of the present invention. Therefore, it should be understood that various equivalents and modified examples may exist as of the time of this application.
