Description

Secondary battery test chamber

[0001] The present invention relates to a test chamber for testing the performance and safety of a secondary battery, and more particularly, to a secondary battery test chamber that can actively respond to a fire warning sign or fire occurrence due to an abnormal state of a secondary battery while smoothly conducting a performance and safety test, thereby preventing a fire or extinguishing a fire at an early stage.

[0002] Secondary batteries are used in a wide range of industries, including automotive, computer, telecommunications, defense, and alternative energy markets, and are widely used in mobile systems such as smartphones and laptops.

[0003] Recently, with the rise in environmental awareness and alternative energy sources, demand for electric vehicles has also increased significantly. Secondary batteries used in electric vehicles are capable of storing high-density energy, and therefore require various evaluations in performance and safety tests.

[0004] Performance tests for secondary batteries include temperature characteristics, storage life tests, and cycle life tests. Temperature characteristics tests are used to verify the input and output capacities of secondary batteries under various temperature conditions, and temperature-dependent discharge and charge characteristics are also measured. Storage life tests measure the state-of-charge loss of secondary batteries after long-term storage under a given temperature. Secondary batteries are stored in a constant-temperature chamber at a constant temperature, and the remaining capacity and recovery rate are measured before and after storage. Cycle life tests are performed to determine the number of consecutive uses. Typically, a charger / discharger is used to repeatedly charge and discharge a secondary battery, evaluating it until its performance deteriorates.

[0005] Meanwhile, secondary battery safety testing involves electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests to ensure that secondary batteries can be used safely under normal conditions and in fault situations. Because secondary battery charging triggers chemical reactions and is affected by temperature, thermal runaway can occur when secondary batteries are charged at temperatures higher than the standard temperature due to a deterioration in the stability of their internal crystal structure. Therefore, safety testing ensures that secondary batteries do not leak, catch fire, or explode.

[0006] As mentioned above, temperature conditions must be adjusted for performance and safety testing of secondary batteries. When using a secondary battery test chamber, it is crucial to maintain a uniform temperature throughout the chamber.

[0007] To this end, the conventional secondary battery test chamber is placed on a flat shelf rather than a deep drawer to allow for uniform air flow, i.e., to ensure that there is no obstruction to the air flow to the secondary battery, and various tests are conducted.

[0008] However, when testing secondary batteries on a flat shelf as in the conventional technology, a uniform temperature distribution can be maintained, but when a fire occurs in the secondary battery during the test, it is difficult to apply a spray-type fire extinguisher, so there is no way to extinguish it, and there is a problem that people may be injured or the inside and outside of the chamber may be left with traces of fire, making it difficult to reuse, resulting in personal and material damage.

[0009] In relation to the above-mentioned problems, the most important key to extinguishing secondary battery fires is to quickly cool the battery temperature, and it is already known that water or water-based extinguishing agents are effective against such fires. (Source: Fire Science and Engineering, Vol. 35, No. 6, PP. 21-29, 2021)

[0010] Meanwhile, over time, the exothermic reaction continues inside the secondary battery, causing re-fires. It is recommended to extinguish the fire by cooling it with a large amount of water or by submerging the entire battery in water, such as in a portable water tank. <Source: Energys 2020, 13(19), 5117, A review of Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Suppression>

[0011] In the case of a secondary battery fire like this, if the secondary battery is stored on a shelf with a height and tested in a secondary battery test chamber by immersing the secondary battery in water, there is a problem that the side wall forming the height of the shelf obstructs the flow of air current within the test chamber, thereby harming the temperature uniformity within the chamber.

[0012] The present invention has been devised to solve the problems of the above-mentioned prior art, and the purpose of the present invention is to provide a secondary battery test chamber that can smoothly conduct performance and safety tests by not obstructing the air flow in the space where the secondary battery is placed in normal times, and can quickly extinguish the fire by immersing the entire secondary battery in a fire extinguishing agent when a fire occurs or a fire occurs due to thermal runaway during a secondary battery test.

[0013] In order to solve the above-described problem, the secondary battery test chamber according to the present invention comprises: a housing; a variable tank installed in a chamber within the housing and having a secondary battery placed therein; a tank deformation unit that normally maintains the side walls of the variable tank in a lowered state, but when a secondary battery malfunction occurs, raises the side walls of the variable tank to deform the variable tank into a container shape with an open top so that an extinguishing agent can be filled therein; a fire extinguishing agent supply unit that supplies a fire extinguishing agent to the variable tank when a secondary battery malfunction occurs so that the secondary battery is immersed in the fire extinguishing agent; and a control unit that operates the fire extinguishing agent supply unit to supply or cut off the supply of the fire extinguishing agent to the variable tank.

[0014] In addition, the variable tank may be configured as a tubular tank that is formed by filling the inside with air and expanding when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, and is composed of a bottom portion fixed to the upper surface of the shelf and a side wall connected to the edge of the bottom portion.

[0015] In addition, the variable tank may be configured with a side wall whose lower part is closely connected to the upper surface of the shelf, and may be configured as a curtain-type tank whose side wall rises when a secondary battery abnormality occurs.

[0016] Here, the side wall of the curtain-type tank is made of a heat-resistant waterproof material, and the tank deformation unit may be equipped with an actuator that operates when a secondary battery abnormality occurs to change the height of the side wall and deform it into a container shape with an open top.

[0017] In addition, the tank deformation unit may be configured with a bottom cover that is installed on the shelf and on which the variable tank is secured on the upper surface; a top cover that is connected to the upper side of the side wall of the variable tank and is normally interlocked with the bottom cover and adjacent to each other, but when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, the interlock is released by the control unit; and a deformation force providing unit that raises the top cover when the interlock is released by the control unit so that the side wall height of the variable tank becomes higher than the height of the secondary battery.

[0018] In addition, the tank deformation unit may be configured to include a driving motor controlled by the control unit; and a wire that is wound around the motor shaft when the motor shaft of the driving motor rotates due to a secondary battery abnormality, thereby pulling up the side wall of the variable tank having the folding portion to unfold the folding portion.

[0019] In addition, the tank deformation unit may be configured with a bottom cover that is installed on the shelf and has a variable tank fixed on the upper surface; a top cover that is connected to the upper side of the side wall of the variable tank and is normally adjacent to the bottom cover but moves to the upper side of the bottom cover when a secondary battery abnormality occurs; and a deformation force providing unit that normally maintains the bottom cover and the top cover in an adjacent state but raises the top cover when a secondary battery abnormality occurs so that the side wall height of the variable tank becomes higher than the height of the secondary battery.

[0020] Here, the deformation force providing unit is composed of a first link having an upper portion rotatably connected to the top cover; a second link having a lower portion rotatably connected to the bottom cover and a central portion rotatably connected to the central portion of the first link; a first rail installed on the bottom cover and having a lower portion of the first link slidably installed; a second rail installed on the top cover and having an upper portion of the second link slidably installed; and an actuator that rotates the first link and the second link to raise or lower the top cover.

[0021] Meanwhile, the present invention further comprises a secondary battery abnormality detector that detects an abnormality in the secondary battery and transmits the detection to the control unit.

[0022] In addition, the present invention further comprises a water level sensor that transmits the water level of the fire extinguishing agent filled in the variable tank to the control unit when the secondary battery malfunction occurs.

[0023] Meanwhile, when the entire secondary battery is immersed in the fire extinguishing agent, the control unit stops supplying the fire extinguishing agent.

[0024] And, a base panel of a certain height is placed inside the variable tank, and the secondary battery is placed on the base panel.

[0025] In addition, a plurality of secondary battery abnormality detectors are installed in the internal space of the housing to detect whether the secondary battery is abnormal, and a signal obtained by the secondary battery abnormality detectors is transmitted to a server via a wired or wireless communication network, and remote operation of the fire extinguishing agent supply unit is possible via the server.

[0026] Meanwhile, a secondary battery test chamber for testing the temperature characteristics of a secondary battery inside the chamber of the present invention may be configured to include a housing having a door installed on the front, a variable shelf installed inside the chamber and having a variable height of a side wall on which a secondary battery is placed, a shelf deformation unit installed inside the housing and deforming the side wall height of the variable shelf, an extinguishing agent supply unit for supplying an extinguishing agent into the variable shelf when a secondary battery malfunction occurs, and a control unit for controlling the side wall height of the variable shelf and the supply of the extinguishing agent by sending an operation signal to the extinguishing agent supply unit and the shelf deformation unit when a secondary battery malfunction occurs.

[0027] The secondary battery test chamber of the present invention configured as described above can quickly extinguish a fire by transforming the variable tank into an open-top container shape having a space deeper than the height of the secondary battery by raising the side wall, and then supplying a fire extinguishing agent into the variable tank until the entire secondary battery is immersed, and in a situation where there is no abnormality in the secondary battery, the side wall of the variable tank is pressed, so that the air flow inside the chamber is not affected, and thus the secondary battery can be tested in a state with a uniform temperature distribution, thereby improving the reliability of the test.

[0037] FIG. 1a is a drawing showing an abnormal phenomenon occurring in a secondary battery of a secondary battery test chamber according to the present invention, and FIG. 1b is a drawing showing an extinguishing agent filled in a variable water tank of the test chamber shown in FIG. 1a.

[0039]

[0040] A secondary battery test chamber according to the present invention comprises a housing (100), a shelf (200) installed inside the housing (100), a variable water tank (300) installed inside the housing (100) and having a secondary battery (A) placed therein, a water tank deformation unit (400) that deforms the variable water tank (300) into a container shape with an open top, a fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) that supplies a fire extinguishing agent to the variable water tank (300), a control unit (700) that operates the fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) to supply or cut off the supply of the fire extinguishing agent to the variable water tank (300), a secondary battery abnormality detector (710) that detects an abnormality in the secondary battery (A), and a water level detector (720) that detects the water level of the fire extinguishing agent. Here, the occurrence of an abnormality in a secondary battery is a concept that includes a situation in which abnormal signs such as temperature rise, gas generation, voltage, or current occur before thermal runaway of the secondary battery (A) during a test of the secondary battery, and a situation in which a fire occurs due to thermal runaway, etc.

[0041] The above housing (100) forms an internal receiving space and has one side open. A refractory insulating material may be installed on the inside of the housing (100) to a certain thickness. As the refractory insulating material, a material such as carbon fiber or silicone, which has heat resistance and a high melting point and mechanical strength to prevent thermal deformation due to high flames, etc., may be used.

[0042] Additionally, a vacuum insulation layer may be formed inside the wall forming the housing (100) to minimize heat transfer. Since heat transfer through conduction or convection by air does not occur in a vacuum, high insulation can be provided.

[0043] This housing (100) is provided with a rotatably-mounted door (110) that opens and closes the front opening surface.

[0044]

[0045] The above shelf (200) is installed at a certain interval in the vertical direction inside the housing (100) and supports the variable water tank (300) from below. The shelf (200) may be installed so as to be able to slide in and out of the housing (100) through an open side of the housing (100), or may be installed in a horizontally fixed form inside the housing (100) without sliding in and out.

[0046]

[0047] The above variable tank (300) normally maintains a flat, planar shape with the entire edge lowered, and when an abnormality occurs in the secondary battery, the entire height of the edge is deformed and changes into a container shape with an open top so that an extinguishing agent can be filled inside.

[0048] This variable tank (300) may be configured as a tubular tank that changes its shape by filling the inside with air (see FIGS. 2 to 6), or may be configured as a curtain-type tank that changes its shape by raising and lowering the side wall (320) (see FIGS. 7 to 10).

[0049]

[0050] The variable tank (300) composed of a tubular tank as shown in FIGS. 2 to 6 is composed of a bottom portion (310) fixed to the upper surface of a shelf (200) and a side wall (320) connected to the edge of the bottom portion (310). When a secondary battery malfunction occurs, the tubular tank is filled with air and expands, thereby changing into a container shape with an open upper surface.

[0051] To elaborate, the tubular tank is composed of a square bottom (310) fixed to the upper surface of the shelf (200), and a side wall (320) that stands upright upward from the edge of the bottom (310). Before air is supplied, the bottom (310) and the side wall (320) are in a contracted state and are placed on the upper surface of the shelf (200) in a flat, pressed state. However, when air is supplied, the bottom (310) and the side wall (320) expand tightly, forming a space capable of accommodating a secondary battery (A) therein. Such a tubular tank is made of a fire-resistant material that can withstand fire.

[0052]

[0053] The above tank deformation part (400) normally maintains the lowered state of the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300), but when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, it raises the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300) to deform the variable tank (300) into a container shape with an open top so that the inside can be filled with a fire extinguishing agent. When the variable tank (300) is configured as the above-described tube-type tank (as shown in FIGS. 2 to 6), the tank deformation part (400) is configured to include an air pump (410), a main tube (420) through which air generated from the air pump (410) flows, and a plurality of branch tubes (430) branching from the main tube (420).

[0054] The above air pump (410) is installed on the lower part of the inside of the housing (100) and generates a high-pressure air flow. This air pump (410) is operated by the control unit (700) that receives an abnormality detection signal from the secondary battery abnormality detector (710).

[0055] The above main tube (420) is made into a tube shape using a hard or soft material through which high-pressure air generated from an air pump (410) flows.

[0056] The above branch tube (430) may be made of a hard material, or may be made in the form of a tube using a soft material that is free to bend or fold, so as to be connected to the main tube (420), and high-pressure air provided from the main tube (420) flows inside. The branch tube (430) is provided with an inlet (431) at the end for injecting air into a tube-shaped tank.

[0057] The above injection port (431) is provided at the end of the branch tube (430) when the tank is adopted as a tubular tank in the present invention, and is installed at the bottom (310) of the tubular tank so that high-pressure air flowing through the branch tube (430) is quickly filled into the entire tubular tank through the bottom (310), thereby rapidly expanding the tubular tank.

[0058] Meanwhile, the branch tube (430) may be installed in a form embedded in the shelf (200), or may be installed in a form spaced apart from the bottom surface of the shelf (200) without being embedded in the shelf (200).

[0059]

[0060] In addition, the variable water tank (300) of the present invention may adopt a curtain-type water tank instead of a tube-type water tank, and the variable water tank (300) configured as a curtain-type water tank may be configured with a side wall (320) whose lower part is closely connected to the upper surface of a shelf (200). In other words, the shelf (200) serves as the bottom plate of the curtain-type water tank.

[0061] Here, the side wall (320) of the curtain-type tank is made of heat-resistant waterproof material, and the tank deformation part (400) that changes the shape of the curtain-type tank is made of a gas cylinder as shown in Fig. 10.

[0062] To explain in more detail, the curtain-type tank illustrated in FIG. 10 may be configured to include a side wall (320), a lower frame (321) connected to the side wall (320), and an upper frame (322).

[0063] The side wall (320) above has a lower portion connected to a lower frame (321) and an upper portion connected to an upper frame (322).

[0064] The above lower frame (321) is formed in a square frame shape by being connected to the side wall (320) and being closely attached along the upper edge of the shelf (200).

[0065] The upper frame (322) is connected to the upper portion of the side wall (320) and is formed in a square frame shape. The upper frame (322) and the lower frame (321) are normally interlocked and attached to each other.

[0066] As described above, when a curtain-type tank including a side wall (320), a lower frame (321), and an upper frame (322) is adopted as a variable tank (300), a gas cylinder can be adopted as a tank deformation part (400) (see FIG. 10). The gas cylinder is installed facing each other while both ends are connected to the lower frame (321) and the upper frame (322). At this time, the facing gas cylinders are installed to cross each other in an X shape. The gas cylinder refers to a cylinder in which gas is filled inside a sealed cylinder with a constant pressure difference from the external pressure, and when the piston rod is released from restraint, the piston rod is naturally advanced (withdrawn) by the pressure difference.

[0067] In this case, when a gas cylinder is adopted as the tank deformation part (400), the lower frame (321) and the upper frame (322) are normally interlocked and attached to each other, but when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, the interlock is released by the control part (700) and the lower frame (321) and the upper frame (322) are separated. When the lower frame (321) and the upper frame (322) are separated, the upper frame (322) rises by the force of the gas cylinder itself, and the side wall (320) rises, so that the variable tank (300) is transformed into a container shape with an open upper surface, so that the inside of the variable tank (300) can be filled with an extinguishing agent.

[0068] To explain in more detail, when the secondary battery abnormality detector (710) detects that an abnormality has occurred in the secondary battery (A), the control unit (700) releases the interlock between the lower frame (321) and the upper frame (322), which are attached to each other by an electromagnetic method or other various mechanisms, so that the upper frame (322) can move freely in the up-and-down direction, and when this state is reached, a load coming out of the gas cylinder pushes the upper frame (322) upward, and accordingly, the side wall (320) made of heat-resistant waterproof cloth stands up vertically to form a space in which an extinguishing agent can be filled.

[0069]

[0070] Meanwhile, the present invention may adopt an air cylinder as shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 as a tank deformation part (400) for a side wall (320) of a curtain-type tank made of a heat-resistant waterproof material.

[0071] At this time as well, the lower part of the side wall (320) is tightly connected to the upper surface of the shelf (200), and when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, the air cylinder operates to change the height of the side wall (320), thereby transforming it into a container shape with an open upper surface.

[0072] To explain in more detail, the lower part of the side wall (320) is firmly attached to the upper edge of the shelf (200), so that even if the extinguishing agent is supplied to the internal space formed by the side wall (320) and the shelf (200), the extinguishing agent does not leak between the lower part of the side wall (320) and the shelf (200), and the material is made of heat-resistant waterproof cloth so that it can withstand flames or high temperature heat caused by a fire. Here, the air cylinder means a cylinder in which the piston rod moves forward and backward as air flows in or out.

[0073] At this time, a square frame-shaped lifting frame (323) is fixed to the top of the side wall (320) of the curtain-type tank. When a secondary battery abnormality occurs, the air cylinder is operated so that the rod of the air cylinder moves upward, and the lifting frame (323) connected to the end of the rod moves upward, thereby pulling up the side wall (320) so that the curtain-type tank is transformed into an open-top container shape with a space formed inside that can accommodate a fire extinguishing agent.

[0074]

[0075] Meanwhile, the present invention can also be configured by configuring the variable tank (300) and the tank deformation part (400) as shown in FIGS. 11 to 14.

[0076] Figures 11 to 14 are diagrams showing a fourth embodiment of a secondary battery test chamber according to the present invention.

[0077] The variable water tank (300) illustrated in FIGS. 11 to 14 is composed of a bottom (310) made of heat-resistant waterproof fabric and side walls (320) surrounding the bottom, and has a shape like a container with an open top, and a secondary battery (A) is placed inside it. Since the variable water tank (300) is made of a flexible material, it can be freely rolled up, bent, and folded, and can withstand flames and high temperatures in the event of a fire while preventing penetration and leakage of the fire extinguishing agent (water) filled inside.

[0078] The tank deformation part (400) illustrated in FIGS. 11 to 14 raises the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300) when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, thereby deforming the variable tank (300) to have a space deeper than the height of the secondary battery (A) placed inside.

[0079] That is, the variable tank (300) is maintained in a state where the side wall (320) is pressed flat in normal times (when there is no abnormality in the secondary battery), but when an abnormality in the secondary battery is detected, the side wall (320) is pulled upward by the tank deformation part (400), thereby transforming into a top-open container shape in which a space is formed inside where an extinguishing agent can be filled.

[0080] This tank deformation part (400) is composed of a bottom panel (440), a top cover (450) placed on the upper side of the bottom panel (440), and a deformation force providing part (460) that raises the top cover (450) to raise the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300).

[0081]

[0082] The above bottom panel (440) is installed on the upper surface of the shelf (200) in the form of a square plate, and a variable water tank (300) is installed on the upper surface. This bottom panel (440) may be a separate member installed on the upper surface of the shelf (200), but the bottom panel (440) itself may also function as the shelf (200).

[0083] The above top cover (450) is a rectangular flat plate with a hole in the center, and is firmly connected to the upper part of the side wall (320) of the variable water tank (300). Normally, it is interlocked with the bottom panel (440) and is adjacent to each other, but when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, the interlock is released by the control unit (700).

[0084] In detail, a solenoid switch (S) is provided on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440) and the lower surface of the top cover (450), so that when no abnormality occurs in the secondary battery, the solenoid switches (S) of the bottom panel (440) and the top cover (450) are maintained in a coupled state, but when an abnormality occurs in the secondary battery, the solenoid switches (S) in a coupled state are separated by a signal from the control unit (700), thereby increasing the distance between the bottom panel (440) and the top cover (450).

[0085] The above deformation force providing unit (460) raises the top cover (450) when the interlock is released by the control unit (700) to raise the side wall (320) of the variable water tank (300) that was pressed down so that its height increases. In other words, when the interlock is released, the top cover (450) rises and pulls the side wall (320) upward so that the height of the side wall (320) of the variable water tank (300) becomes higher than the height of the secondary battery (A) placed inside.

[0086] This deformation force providing unit (460) is installed one on each side when the variable water tank (300) is made in a square shape, and is configured to include a first link (461), a second link (462) that is cross-connected to the first link (461) in an X shape, a first rail (463) that is installed on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440), a second rail (464) that is installed on the lower surface of the top cover (450), a first elastic body (465) that connects the upper part of the first link (461) and the upper part of the second link (462), and a second elastic body (466) that connects the lower part of the first link (461) and the lower part of the second link (462).

[0087]

[0088] The upper portion of the first link (461) is rotatably connected to the top cover (450). That is, a bracket is provided on the lower surface of the top cover (450), and the upper portion of the first link and this bracket are connected with a pin, so that the upper portion of the first link (461) freely rotates around this pin.

[0089] The second link (462) is rotatably connected to the central portion of the first link (461) by a pin connection at the center portion, and is rotatably connected to the bottom panel (440) at the lower portion. That is, a bracket is provided on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440), and the bracket and the lower portion of the second link (462) are pin-connected, so that the lower portion of the second link (462) freely rotates around the pin.

[0090] The lower part of the first link (461) is installed in a sliding manner on the first rail (463). That is, a sliding hole (463a) is formed long along the longitudinal direction on the first rail (463), and a pin inserted into the sliding hole (463a) is installed on the lower part of the first link (461), and as this pin moves within the sliding hole (463a), the lower part of the first link (461) slides.

[0091] The upper part of the second link (462) is installed so as to be able to slide on the second rail (464). That is, a sliding hole (464a) is formed long along the longitudinal direction on the second rail (464), and a pin inserted into the sliding hole (464a) is installed on the upper part of the second link (462), so that the upper part of the second link (462) slides as the pin moves within the sliding hole (464a).

[0092] The above first elastic body (465) provides elastic force in the direction in which the first link (461) and the second link (462) are upright. Here, the first elastic body (465) is composed of a tensile spring, and since it pulls the upper part of the first link (461) and the upper part of the second link (462) connected at both ends toward the center, it provides elastic force in the direction in which the first link (461) and the second link (462) are upright.

[0093] The second elastic body (466) provides elastic force in the direction in which the first link (461) and the second link (462) are upright. Here, the second elastic body (466) is composed of a tensile spring, and pulls the lower part of the first link (461) and the lower part of the second link (462) connected at both ends toward the center, thereby providing elastic force in the direction in which the first link (461) and the second link (462) are upright.

[0094]

[0095] In addition, the present invention can also configure the variable tank (300) and the tank deformation part (400) as shown in FIGS. 15 to 17.

[0096] Figures 15 to 17 are drawings showing a fifth embodiment of a secondary battery test chamber according to the present invention.

[0097] The variable water tank (300) illustrated in FIGS. 15 to 17 is a curtain-shaped water tank having a folding portion that is folded multiple times inside and out, and is installed on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440).

[0098] This curtain-shaped variable water tank (300) has an overall cross-section similar to the Korean letter 'ㅁ', is made of flexible heat-resistant waterproof fabric, and when the variable water tank (300) is pulled upward by cross-folding inward and outward, it takes the shape of a Javara, thereby creating a space inside where a fire extinguishing agent can be filled.

[0099] A secondary battery (A) is placed inside a variable tank (300) having this form and immersed in a fire extinguishing agent.

[0100] Here, the curtain-shaped variable water tank (300) can be configured in a shape like the Korean letter 'ㅁ' that is open from top to bottom without a bottom surface so that the bottom panel (440) can function as a bottom part, but it can also be configured in a way that the side walls (320) that are cross-folded inward and outward are integrally configured at the edge of the bottom part (310) so that the bottom part (310) is secured to the upper surface of the bottom panel (440).

[0101]

[0102] The tank deformation part (400) illustrated in FIGS. 15 to 17 is configured to pull the curtain-shaped variable tank (300) upward when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, thereby unfolding the folding portion, thereby transforming the variable tank (300) into a space deeper than the height of the secondary battery (A).

[0103] That is, the curtain-shaped variable water tank (300) is folded in and out multiple times in normal times (when there is no problem with the secondary battery) and is kept in a flat state pressed against the upper surface of the bottom panel (440). However, when a problem with the secondary battery is detected, the upper part of the variable water tank (300) is pulled upward by the water tank deformation part (400), thereby being transformed into a top-open container shape with a space formed inside that can be filled with a fire extinguishing agent.

[0104] This tank deformation part (400) is configured to include a driving motor (470), a wire (480) wound around the motor shaft of the driving motor (470), a support frame (490) on which the driving motor (470) is installed, and direction change pulleys (481) provided on both sides of the driving motor (470).

[0105] The above driving motor (470) is controlled by the control unit (700) so that the motor shaft can rotate in both forward and reverse directions. These driving motors (470) are installed in pairs facing each other on the upper surface of the support frame (490).

[0106] The above wire (480) is wound around the motor shaft when the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) rotates in one direction due to an abnormality in the secondary battery, thereby raising the upper part of the variable water tank (300) having a curtain shape, thereby increasing the height of the variable water tank (300), and when the motor shaft rotates in the other direction, it is released from the motor shaft, thereby lowering the height of the variable water tank (300) that had been raised.

[0107] In the present invention, two wires (480) may be provided, the central portion of each wire (480) may be wound around the motor shaft of one driving motor (470), and both ends of each wire (480) may be connected to the upper end of the variable water tank (300). Alternatively, four wires (480) may be provided, and one end of each of the two wires (480) may be wound around the motor shaft of one driving motor (470), and the other end may be connected to the upper end of the variable water tank (300).

[0108] In any case, when the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) rotates in one direction, the wire (480) is wound around the motor shaft, and the curtain-shaped variable tank (300) is raised, and when the motor shaft rotates in the other direction, the wire (480) is released from the motor shaft, and the height of the variable tank (300) can be lowered.

[0109] Here, the wire (480) can be directly connected to the motor shaft of the driving motor (470), or can be connected to a pulley (471) installed on the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) and wound around the pulley (471).

[0110]

[0111] Meanwhile, a weight frame (482) may be installed on the upper surface of the curtain-shaped variable tank (300), and the end of the wire (480) may be connected to the weight frame (482).

[0112] Since the curtain-shaped variable water tank (300) is configured in a form in which a flexible heat-resistant waterproof cloth is folded multiple times in the vertical direction, if the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) rotates in one direction and the folding portion is unfolded, and the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) rotates in the other direction, the unfolded portion of the curtain-shaped variable water tank (300) may not return to the initial folded state due to its own weight.

[0113] Therefore, if a weight frame (482) having a constant weight is installed on the top of a curtain-shaped variable water tank (300), the curtain-shaped variable water tank (300) can be easily restored to its initial folded state because the weight frame (482) presses down the variable water tank (300).

[0114]

[0115] The above support frame (490) is provided on the upper side of the bottom panel (440) and is composed of a pillar (491) and a support (492) provided on the upper end of the pillar (491).

[0116] The above pillars (491) are provided one at a time near the vertex of the bottom panel (440) in the shape of a square plate. These pillars (491) stand upright upward from the bottom panel (440).

[0117] The above support (492) is formed in the shape of the Korean letter 'ㅁ' and is integrally installed on the upper side of the pillar (491). One drive motor (470) is installed on each side of the upper surface of the support (492), so that a pair of drive motors (470) face each other.

[0118] The above-mentioned direction changing pulley (481) is provided on the upper surface of the support (492), one on each side of the driving motor (470), for a total of four. More specifically, the direction changing pulley (481) is provided one at each vertex of the support (492). The direction changing pulley (481) supports the wire (480) connected to the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) and bends it downward so that the wire (480) is connected to the variable water tank (300) located below the driving motor (470).

[0119] That is, the wire (480) extends horizontally between the motor shaft of the driving motor (470) and the direction-changing pulley (481), and when it meets the direction-changing pulley (481), it bends downward at a 90-degree angle, passes through the support (492), and then extends downward to be connected to the upper end of the curtain-shaped variable water tank (300).

[0120]

[0121] In addition, the present invention can also configure the variable tank (300) and the tank deformation part (400) as shown in FIGS. 18 to 21.

[0122] Figures 18 to 21 are drawings showing a sixth embodiment of a secondary battery test chamber according to the present invention.

[0123] The variable water tank (300) illustrated in FIGS. 18 to 21 is composed of a bottom portion (310) and side walls (320) surrounding the bottom portion, and has a shape like a container with an open top, and a secondary battery (A) is placed inside it. This variable water tank (300) is composed of a flexible, heat-resistant waterproof material, so that it can be freely rolled up, bent, and folded, and can withstand flames or high heat in the event of a fire while preventing penetration and leakage of the fire extinguishing agent (water) filled inside.

[0124]

[0125] The tank deformation part (400) illustrated in FIGS. 18 to 21 raises or lowers the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300), and normally maintains the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300) in a lowered state, but when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, raises the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300) to deform the variable tank (300) into an upper-surface open container shape having a space deeper than the height of the secondary battery (A).

[0126] That is, the variable tank (300) is maintained in a flat, pressed state with the side wall (320) in normal times (i.e., when there is no problem with the secondary battery), but when a problem occurs with the secondary battery, the side wall (320) is raised upward by the tank deformation part (400), thereby transforming into a top-open container shape in which a space is formed inside that can be filled with a fire extinguishing agent.

[0127] The tank deformation unit (400) that performs this function is composed of a bottom panel (440), a top cover (450) placed on the upper side of the bottom panel (440), and a deformation force providing unit (460) that raises the top cover (450) to raise the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300).

[0128]

[0129] The above bottom panel (440) is installed on the upper surface of the shelf (200) in the shape of a square plate, and a variable water tank (300) is installed on the upper surface.

[0130] The above top cover (450) is a rectangular flat plate with a hole in the center, and is firmly connected to the upper part of the side wall (320) of the variable water tank (300). Normally, it is adjacent to the bottom panel (440), but when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, it moves to the upper side of the bottom panel (440) and becomes farther away from the bottom panel (440).

[0131] The above deformation force providing unit (460) raises the top cover (450) when a secondary battery abnormality occurs, thereby raising the side wall (320) of the variable water tank (300) that was pressed down, so that the height of the side wall (320) becomes higher than the height of the secondary battery (A) placed inside.

[0132] This deformation force providing unit (460) is installed one on each side when the variable water tank (300) is made in a square shape, and is configured to include a first link (461), a second link (462) that is cross-connected to the first link (461) in an X shape, a first rail (463) that is installed on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440), a second rail (464) that is installed on the lower surface of the top cover (450), and an actuator (467) that rotates the first link (461) and the second link (462) according to an operation signal of the control unit (700) to raise or lower the top cover (450).

[0133]

[0134] The upper portion of the first link (461) is rotatably connected to the top cover (450). That is, a bracket is provided on the lower surface of the top cover (450), and the upper portion of the first link (461) is connected to the bracket by a pin, so that the upper portion of the first link (461) freely rotates around the pin.

[0135] The second link (462) is rotatably connected to the central portion of the first link (461) by a pin connection at the center portion, and is rotatably connected to the bottom panel (440) at the lower portion. That is, a bracket is provided on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440), and the bracket and the lower portion of the second link (462) are pin-connected, so that the lower portion of the second link (462) freely rotates around the pin.

[0136] The lower part of the first link (461) is installed in a sliding manner on the first rail (463). That is, a sliding hole (463a) is formed in a straight line along the longitudinal direction on the first rail (463), and a pin inserted into the sliding hole (463a) is installed on the lower part of the first link (461), and as this pin moves within the sliding hole (463a), the lower part of the first link (461) slides.

[0137] The upper part of the second link (462) is installed so as to be able to slide on the second rail (464). That is, a sliding hole (464a) is formed long along the longitudinal direction on the second rail (464), and a pin inserted into the sliding hole (464a) is installed on the upper part of the second link (462), so that the upper part of the second link (462) slides as the pin moves within the sliding hole (464a).

[0138] The above actuator (467) can be installed on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440) or the lower surface of the top cover (450), and is composed of an electric cylinder comprising a body (467a) and a rod (467b) that moves in and out of the body (467a).

[0139] The above body (467a) is rotatably installed on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440) or the lower surface of the top cover (450), and the end of the rod (467b) is rotatably connected to the first link (461) or the second link (462).

[0140] To explain in more detail, the lower part of the body (467a) of the electric cylinder is rotatably installed on the upper surface of the bottom panel (440), and the upper part of the rod (467b) is rotatably connected to the middle point of the lower part of the second link (462).

[0141] In normal times, the rod (467b) extends far outward from the body (467a) so that the first link (461) and the second link (462) are almost parallel and overlap each other. However, when a fire occurs, the rod (467b) enters the body (467a) by a signal from the control unit (700), and the second link (462) rotates and gradually stands up. Due to this movement of the second link (462), the first link (461) is also gradually stood up, so that the first link (461) and the second link (462) form an X-shape. When the first link (461) and the second link (462) form an X-shape, the top cover (450) rises upward, increasing the height of the side wall (320) of the variable water tank (300).

[0142]

[0143] The above-mentioned fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) is intended to supply fire extinguishing agent into the variable water tank (300) through the open upper surface of the variable water tank (300) when an abnormality occurs in the secondary battery (A), thereby quickly extinguishing the fire by submerging the secondary battery (A) in the fire extinguishing agent.

[0144] This fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) can be configured to include a fire extinguishing agent tank (510), a main pipe (520) connected to the fire extinguishing agent tank (510), a plurality of branch pipes (530) branching from the main pipe (520), a valve (540) for opening and closing the branch pipes (530), and a plurality of nozzles (550) provided in each of the plurality of branch pipes (530).

[0145] The above-mentioned fire extinguishing agent tank (510) is installed at the top inside the housing (100) while the fire extinguishing agent is stored therein, and supplies the fire extinguishing agent to the inside of the variable water tank (300) on the upper surface of the shelf (200) installed vertically apart through a branch pipe (530).

[0146] Here, the fire extinguishing agent tank (510) is installed at the top inside the housing (100), but is not limited to being installed only inside the housing (100) and may be installed outside the housing (100).

[0147] The above main pipe (520) has one end connected to the fire extinguishing agent tank (510) and the other end extends downwards of the housing (100).

[0148] The above branch pipe (530) branches off from the main pipe (520) and guides the extinguishing agent toward the plurality of variable tanks (300), and is positioned above the plurality of shelves (200) provided in the vertical direction. Accordingly, the branch pipe (530) is positioned above the variable tank (300) fixed to the upper surface of the shelf (200).

[0149] Here, the branch pipe (530) may be installed on the upper side of the shelf (200), but may also be installed in a form embedded within the shelf (200). That is, if the shelf (200) does not slide in and out but has a structure that is horizontally fixed within the housing (100), it is also possible to configure the branch pipe (530) in a form embedded within the shelf (200).

[0150] The above valve (540) is installed at the connection point between the main pipe (520) and the branch pipe (530) and opens and closes the branch pipe (530) according to a signal from the control unit (700). Therefore, when the valve (540) is opened, the fire extinguishing agent stored in the fire extinguishing agent tank (510) flows into the branch pipe (530) through the main pipe (520), and when the valve (540) is closed, the fire extinguishing agent is prevented from flowing into the branch pipe (530).

[0151] The above nozzle (550) is provided at least once in the branch pipe (530) and, when the valve (540) is opened, sprays the fire extinguishing agent provided from the fire extinguishing agent tank (510) toward the secondary battery (A) inside the variable water tank (300) located below. The secondary battery (A) stored in the variable water tank (300) is immersed in the fire extinguishing agent by the fire extinguishing agent sprayed in this way.

[0152] As described above, if the shelf (200) is not slidable but is horizontally fixed inside the housing (100), the extinguishing agent sprayed from the lower nozzle (550) is filled in the variable tank (300).

[0153]

[0154] Meanwhile, a base panel (600) having a certain height and fire resistance can be placed inside the variable water tank (300), and when the base panel (600) is installed inside the variable water tank (300) in this way, the secondary battery (A) is placed on the upper surface of the base panel (600).

[0155] In order to test the performance and safety of a secondary battery, the temperature conditions throughout the test chamber must be maintained uniformly, and for this purpose, the air flow to the secondary battery (A) must not be obstructed. Accordingly, the present invention can install a base panel (600) having a certain height inside a variable water tank (300) to avoid the secondary battery (A) from being positioned in a deep location, and place the secondary battery (A) thereon.

[0156] Here, a plurality of through holes (610) can be formed in the base panel (600). Accordingly, when the extinguishing agent is supplied inside the variable water tank (300), the extinguishing agent is sufficiently supplied to the inside and bottom of the base panel (600) through the through holes (610), so that the secondary battery (A) inside the variable water tank (300) can be completely immersed in the extinguishing agent.

[0157]

[0158] The above control unit (700) manipulates the tank deformation unit (400) and the fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) to change the height of the variable tank (300), i.e., the height of the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300), and also controls the supply or blocking of the fire extinguishing agent.

[0159]

[0160] The secondary battery abnormality detector (710) is a temperature sensor, a gas sensor, a flame sensor, etc., and detects when a fire precursor phenomenon or a fire occurs in the secondary battery (A) and transmits an abnormality detection signal to the control unit (700). When the fire detection signal is transmitted to the control unit (700), the control unit (700) transforms the shape of the variable tank (300) into a container shape with an open top through the tank transformation unit (400) and then operates the extinguishing agent supply unit (500) to spray the extinguishing agent into the variable tank (300). It is preferable that the secondary battery abnormality detector (710) be installed in a place where secondary battery abnormality detection is easy, such as inside the variable tank (300) or on a base panel (600) installed inside the variable tank (300).

[0161] The secondary battery abnormality detector (710) may be a detector that detects an abnormality occurring during a charge / discharge cycle of a secondary battery. For example, it may be electrically connected to a secondary battery under test inside a chamber, and measure the temperature, open circuit voltage, current, etc. of the secondary battery whenever a charge cycle of the secondary battery ends, and compare the measured values from the next cycle with a specific cycle as a standard to determine whether an abnormality has occurred. Here, a charge / discharge cycle may be defined as a process of charging a secondary battery in a discharged state and then discharging the secondary battery in a charged state.

[0162] The above water level sensor (720) transmits the water level of the fire extinguishing agent filled in the variable tank (300) to the control unit (700) when a secondary battery abnormality occurs.

[0163] When the entire secondary battery (A) is immersed in the extinguishing agent filled in the variable water tank (300), the control unit (700) must stop the supply of the extinguishing agent to the variable water tank (300). Since the water level sensor (720) transmits the water level to the control unit (700) in real time, the control unit (700) can stop the supply of the extinguishing agent from the extinguishing agent supply unit (500) at an appropriate time.

[0164] Here, the secondary battery abnormality detector (710) and the water level detector (720) can be installed separately in separate locations, but they can also be manufactured as a single unit product and installed in the same location.

[0165] In addition, the secondary battery abnormality detector (710) and the water level detector (720) are manufactured to be the same height as or longer than the side wall (320) of the variable tank (300) when it is at its highest point, so that sensing is not obstructed by the side wall (320).

[0166]

[0167] In addition, the present invention can measure the temperature of a corresponding point by installing a plurality of temperature sensors (120) at regular intervals inside the housing (100). This makes it possible to know the temperature of each section inside the housing (100), thereby making it possible to know the overall flow of temperature changes inside the housing (100), and to more easily determine whether a fire has occurred in the secondary battery (A) or whether a fire is imminent.

[0168] And, the temperature value acquired by the temperature sensor (120) is transmitted to the control unit (700), and then the control unit (700) transmits the corresponding information to a server (730) connected through a wired or wireless communication network, and remote operation of the tank deformation unit (400) and the fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) is possible through this server (730).

[0169] That is, even if there are no people inside the laboratory where the secondary battery test chamber is installed, it is possible to check whether a fire has occurred or is imminent in the secondary battery through the server (730) from outside the laboratory, and if a fire has occurred or is imminent, the application installed in the server (730) is manipulated to send an operation signal of the tank deformation unit (400) and an operation signal of the fire extinguishing agent supply unit (500) to the control unit (700), thereby transforming the variable tank (300) into a container shape with an open top and causing the fire extinguishing agent to be sprayed into the variable tank (300).

[0170]

[0171] In addition, the present invention can lock the door (110) so that it does not open from the housing (100) even when an external force is applied to the door (110) when the average value of the temperature measured by a plurality of temperature sensors (120) reaches a certain temperature while the door (110) is closed.

[0172] As described above, the present invention can improve the reliability of tests by installing a variable water tank (300) around a secondary battery (A), so that the secondary battery (A) can undergo various performance tests and safety tests in a state where the variable water tank (300) is normally contracted and the air flow is not obstructed. In addition, during the test of the secondary battery (A), when a fire occurs or a fire occurs due to thermal runaway of the secondary battery (A), the variable water tank (300) is transformed into a container shape so that water or a fire extinguishing agent can be supplied into the variable water tank (300) in which the secondary battery (A) is placed, thereby preventing a fire or quickly extinguishing a fire.

[0173]
