Description

[0001] FOG LIGHT WITH CORNERING

[0002] FIELD OF INVENTION

[0003]

[0001] In general, the present invention belongs to the technological sector of vehicle lighting devices and refers, more specifically, to the new construction arrangement applied to fog lights, which has one or two light emitters and a lens equipped with two projector caps, so as to constitute a single focal point, providing a lateral illumination range of at least 60°, in a compact manner, especially in relation to depth, being significantly smaller than the fog lights currently available in the state of the art.

[0004] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005]

[0002] In the current state of the art, several cornering fog lamps with LED technology are found. However, the currently known models are essentially produced from two optical concepts: indirect reflector or projector lens (aspherical).

[0006]

[0003] Unlike directional headlights, cornering lights, or "curve lights," are a static side lighting system offered on some vehicle models. When maneuvering, the vehicle provides additional illumination through the curve lights to expand the field of vision in the direction the vehicle is moving.

[0007]

[0004] It is possible to find fog lamps combined with cornering lights in these configurations on the market, including with horizontal projection beyond 60°. However, these prior art headlamps are not as compact, so that when using a mono-aspherical lens or indirect reflector, they become large in their dimensions, unlike the proposed model in which the bi-aspherical lens with a single focal point allows a significant reduction in their dimensions.

[0005] There are some examples of fog lamps with cornering that can be seen in patent documents, such as described in the following documents:

[0008]

[0006] Document DE3645214 (Koito. 1985) describes a combined fog and cornering lamp for a vehicle that has a control circuit causing a small movable reflector to move between two positions after manual actuation of the cornering switch.

[0009]

[0007] Document CN101858550 (Tianjin. 2012) describes a source having a lens having a non-rotating and non-spherical curved surface and groups of lens units. A support assembly is provided with upper and lower reinforcement rings, a cladding plate, an insulating plate and a support anode. A cathode electrically conductive layer is connected to an LED light chip.

[0010]

[0008] Document US9506617 (Myotek. 2016) describes a lamp having a reflector assembly and a first set of LEDs (including a first LED positioned in a focus of the first reflector of the reflector assembly and operable to direct light at the first reflector). The second set of LEDs includes a second LED offset from the focus of the first reflector and to direct light at the first reflector.

[0011]

[0009] Document KR20181 10721 (Seangyong. 2017) describes a cornering lamp for a motor vehicle, which has a fog lamp housing, which is installed so as to be connected for improving visibility with a steering wheel when the steering wheel is turned so that the vehicle changes course.

[0012]

[0010] Document US10414329 (Myotek. 2019) describes a fog lamp comprising an LED assembly operable to direct light to the reflector assembly. The reflector assembly includes a central reflector having a main axis extending parallel to the axis of the lamp, and a pair of side reflectors positioned on opposite sides of the central reflector.

[0013]

[0011] Document WO2023281519 (Minda. 2021) describes a fog and cornering lamp used in a vehicle, which comprises a housing with an open end and a closed end, a lighting module comprising a light source, a heat sink, a primary lens comprising a curved part and an inclined part and a secondary lens.

[0014]

[0012] These documents cited in the prior art present an optical concept of indirect reflection, having at least two focal points and large dimensions. Thus, the constructive form of the product, object of the present invention, presents a bi-aspheric lens with a single focal point that allows a significant reduction in its dimensions.

[0015]

[0013] Therefore, based on all the drawbacks existing in the systems and equipment currently used, described above in the state of the art, it is clear that there is a gap in the creation of a new construction arrangement applied to fog lights, which has one or two LEDs and a lens equipped with two projector caps, in order to constitute a single focal point, providing a lateral lighting range of at least 60°, in a compact way, especially in relation to depth, being significantly smaller than the fog lights currently available in the state of the art.

[0016] SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION

[0014] The new construction arrangement applied to fog lights with cornering has one or two LEDs and a lens equipped with two projector caps, so as to constitute a single focal point, providing a horizontal illumination opening of at least 60°, in a compact way, especially in relation to depth, being significantly smaller than the fog lights currently available in the state of the art.

[0017]

[0015] Note that the use of two LEDs is especially recommended, mainly because the heat concentration of the two light sources is lower than when compared with the heat generated by a single light source of the same total electrical power, enabling a more economical thermal construction, without losing the luminous flux, however the same photometric solution can be obtained with a single LED, if the heat dissipation system is adequately sized.

[0018]

[0016] In order to remedy the flaws in the current state of the art highlighted above, the present provision aims to propose a solution for fog lights with cornering, equipped with a bi-aspherical lens with a single focal point that allows a significant reduction in its dimensions.

[0019]

[0017] Thus, the present arrangement uses LEDs and two projector caps, in order to constitute a single focal point with a high illumination amplitude.

[0033] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0034]

[0032] The constructive arrangement applied in fog lamp with cornering, object of the present invention, describes a headlight (100) composed of a housing (10), an external lens (20) and an internal lens (30) equipped with two caps (31) (32), being a main cap (31) and another complementary cap (32), combined in such a way as to result in a photometric projection in accordance with the standard required by the conjunction of the fog and cornering functions, more specifically, in accordance with the UNECE R149 and FMVSS 108 Standards of -35° and +60°, as seen in figure 6, and LEDs (41) arranged side-by-side next to the plate (40), in such a way as to illuminate both caps.

[0035]

[0033] The housing (10) is equipped with a set of tabs (11) for fixing to the vehicle, a projection (12) for connecting the electrical harness, a projection (13) for positioning the adjustment screw (131) and an opening (14) that allows the positioning and fitting of the heat sink (141).

[0036]

[0034] The housing (10) is provided with a low relief (10A) on the rear face next to the opening (14) so that the heatsink (141) when fitted is aligned with the structure, allowing the positioning of the plate (40).

[0035] The housing (10) is provided in its front portion with a projection (10B) for fitting and positioning the internal lens (30) and mask (30A), said projection (10B) having on the sides points (11 B) for positioning the internal lens (30). In addition, the housing has points (10C) for fixing the fixing screws of the mask (30A), as detailed in figures 6 and 7.

[0037]

[0036] The mask (30A) is equipped with a contoured edge (31 A) that is positioned close to the projection (10B) and with fixing points (32A) that allow screw fixing next to the points (10C), as detailed in figures 10 and 11.

[0038]

[0037] The internal lens (30) equipped with two caps (31)(32) has projections (33) on its sides that allow it to be fixed and positioned next to the points (11 B) of the housing (10). The lens (30) also has a projection (34) that allows the adjustment screw (131) to be fixed in order to allow the movement and adjustment of the lens (30), as detailed in figures 8 to 11.

[0039]

[0038] The external lens (20) is equipped with projections (21) that allow it to fit and lock onto the projections (10D) positioned close to the front edge of the housing (10), as detailed in figure 10.

[0040]

[0039] Note that the two caps (31)(32) of the internal lens (30), applied to the headlight (100), are responsible for the 60° horizontal luminous opening, see figure 12, dispensing with the traditional spherical lenses with a single cap or indirect reflectors, which ensures greater space optimization, consequently increasing safety in maneuvers for drivers, as can be seen in figure 13.

[0040] The use of two LEDs (41), see figure 13, is especially recommended so that the temperature concentrated inside the headlight (100) is reduced, but it would be possible to execute the arrangement described herein with a single LED (41), without compromising compliance with the standards, since the caps (31)(32) are mainly responsible for the horizontal opening now revealed.

[0041]

[0041] In other construction modalities, the headlight (11) may present a construction variation in the positioning of the fixing tabs (11), so that the images presented are not restrictive to the developed product.
