Abstract

Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, methods, and computer storage medium for communication. A terminal device may receive configuration for signal frequency hopping from a network device, determine a hopping pattern based on the configuration, and may further transmit a signal based on the hopping pattern. The hopping pattern indicates that at least one overlapped bandwidth is different from the configured overlapped bandwidth, or at least one bandwidth of at least one hop is different from the configured bandwidth. As such, the overlap between hops may be defined, and all hops are within the BWP for the signal. Therefore, a transmission efficiency of the signal may be guaranteed.

[0047] The terminal device or the network device may have Artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning capability. It generally includes a model which has been trained from numerous collected data for a specific function, and can be used to predict some information.

[0048] The terminal device or the network device may work on several frequency ranges,  e.g. FR1 (410 MHz –7125 MHz) , FR2 (24.25GHz to 71GHz) , frequency band larger than 200GHz as well as Tera Hertz (THz) . It can further work on licensed / unlicensed / shared spectrum. The terminal device may have more than one connection with the network device under Multi-Radio Dual Connectivity (MR-DC) application scenario. The terminal device or the network device can work on full duplex, flexible duplex and cross division duplex modes.

[0049] The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed in test equipment, e.g., signal generator, signal analyzer, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, test terminal device, test network device, or channel emulator.

[0050] The embodiments of the present disclosure may be performed according to any generation communication protocols either currently known or to be developed in the future. Examples of the communication protocols include, but not limited to, the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , 2.5G, 2.75G, the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , 4.5G, the fifth generation (5G) communication protocols, 5.5G, 5G-Advanced networks, or the sixth generation (6G) networks.

[0051] The term “circuitry” used herein may refer to hardware circuits and / or combinations of hardware circuits and software. For example, the circuitry may be a combination of analog and / or digital hardware circuits with software / firmware. As a further example, the circuitry may be any portions of hardware processors with software including digital signal processor (s) , software, and memory (ies) that work together to cause an apparatus, such as a terminal device or a network device, to perform various functions. In a still further example, the circuitry may be hardware circuits and or processors, such as a microprocessor or a portion of a microprocessor, that requires software / firmware for operation, but the software may not be present when it is not needed for operation. As used herein, the term circuitry also covers an implementation of merely a hardware circuit or processor (s) or a portion of a hardware circuit or processor (s) and its (or their) accompanying software and / or firmware.

[0052] As used herein, the singular forms “a” , “an” and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. The term “includes” and its variants are to be read as open terms that mean “includes, but is not limited to. ” The term “based on” is to be read as “based at least in part on. ” The term “one embodiment” and “an embodiment” are to be read as “at least one embodiment. ” The term “another embodiment” is to be read as “at least one other embodiment. ” The terms “first, ” “second, ”  and the like may refer to different or same objects. Other definitions, explicit and implicit, may be included below.

[0053] In some examples, values, procedures, or apparatus are referred to as “best, ” “lowest, ” “highest, ” “minimum, ” “maximum, ” or the like. It will be appreciated that such descriptions are intended to indicate that a selection among many used functional alternatives can be made, and such selections need not be better, smaller, higher, or otherwise preferable to other selections.

[0054] According to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Conference on radio access network (RAN) 1 #111, the following in the TR conclusions are captured: from RAN1 perspective, for positioning of RedCap UEs, support of PRS frequency hopping and SRS frequency hopping is recommended for normative work. During the normative phase, the complexity of the corresponding capabilities for RedCap UEs should be addressed for the introduction of appropriate capabilities for RedCap UEs.

[0055] For the SRS Tx hopping, both hopping patterns (i.e. one cycle containing all the hops) that can span across slots or fit within one slot are supported, although a determination of the starting symbol position for each hop and a duration of each hop are to be discussed. SRS for positioning with transmission (Tx) hopping can be configured outside of the active uplink (UL) bandwidth part (BWP) . The configuration may include subcarrier space (SCS) , cyclic prefix (CP) size and bandwidth (position and size) , which can use a SCS, CP size and bandwidth different from the UL active BWP.

[0056] For the SRS Tx hopping, regarding the overlap between hops (downselect) , three alternatives (Alts) haven been proposed. Alt1: a single overlap value can be configured for all hops for the SRS resource. Alt2: a separate overlap value is configured for each hop for the SRS resource. Alt3: the overlap value for a hop is derived from other parameters. However, the method of rules for determining the overlap size and other remaining aspects of hopping pattern should be defined.

[0057] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution of communication. In the solution, a terminal device may receive configuration for signal frequency hopping from a network device, determine a hopping pattern based on the configuration, and may further transmit a signal based on the hopping pattern. Principles and implementations of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the figures.

[0058] FIG. 1 illustrates an example communication system 100 in which some embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. The communication system 100 may also be called as a network environment, a network system, a communication environment, a communication network, or the like, the present disclosure does not limit this aspect. The communication system 100 includes a network device 110 and a terminal device 120. The network device 110 can provide services to the terminal device 120.

[0059] In the system 100, it is assumed that the terminal device 120 is located within coverage of the network device 110. In some examples, a link from the network device 110 to the terminal device 120 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the terminal device 120 to the network device 110 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In downlink, the network device 110 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 120 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In uplink, the terminal device 120 is a transmitting TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 110 is a RX device (or a receiver) . In some embodiments, the network device 110 and the terminal device 120 may communicate with direct links / channels. DL may comprise one or more logical channels, including but not limited to a Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) and a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) . UL may comprise one or more logical channels, including but not limited to a Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) and a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) . As used herein, the term “channel” may refer to a carrier or a part of a carrier consisting of a contiguous set of resource blocks (RBs) on which a channel access procedure is performed in shared spectrum.

[0060] Communications in the system 100, between the network device 110 and the terminal device 120 for example, may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) and the fifth generation (5G) and on the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication  technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Divided Multiple Address (CDMA) , Frequency Divided Multiple Address (FDMA) , Time Divided Multiple Address (TDMA) , Frequency Divided Duplexer (FDD) , Time Divided Duplexer (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Divided Multiple Access (OFDMA) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0061] Embodiments of the present disclosure can be applied to any suitable scenarios. For example, embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented at reduced capability NR devices. Alternatively, embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented in one of the followings: NR multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) , NR sidelink enhancements, NR systems with frequency above 52.6GHz, an extending NR operation up to 71GHz, narrow band-Internet of Thing (NB-IOT)  / enhanced Machine Type Communication (eMTC) over non-terrestrial networks (NTN) , NTN, UE power saving enhancements, NR coverage enhancement, NB-IoT and LTE-MTC, Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) , NR Multicast and Broadcast Services, or enhancements on Multi-Radio Dual-Connectivity.

[0062] It is to be understood that the numbers of devices (i.e., the network device 110 and the terminal device 120) and their connection relationships and types shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The system 100 may include any suitable numbers of devices adapted for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0063] For ease of description, it is assumed that the terminal device 120 is a RedCap UE, however, it is understood that the terminal device 120 may be another type and the present disclosure does not limit this aspect.

[0064] FIG. 2A illustrates a schematic diagram of one frequency hopping pattern 200. It is to be understood that there may be a single hop or multiple hops. An example hopping pattern is shown in FIG. 2A, where a total number of hops is N. Each hop is within the maximum bandwidth of a terminal device (such as the RedCap UE) . An overlapping between two adjacent hops exists, to compensate the phase error between two adjacent hops. In addition, there is a switching time gap between two adjacent hops, which is associated with one kind of capability of RedCap UE. In the present disclosure, the term “hop” may also be referred as “sub-band” .

[0065] As shown in FIG. 2A, a same band width and same time duration are applied to all  the sub-bands or hops and overlapped bands, and the parameters shown in FIG. 2A may represent:

[0066] - Bf: total effective bandwidth, a virtual BWP configuration, which may be indicated by SCS, CP, bandwidth and location; and it’s the available bandwidth of the BWP, for example, RBs reserved for gap setting between two BWPs aren’t include in Bf. the band corresponding to Bf is denoted by BWPeff.

[0067] - N: number of hops, or number of sub-bands;

[0068] - In frequency domain:

[0069] - B: size of each sub-band, i.e., a hop size (which is common for each hop) ;

[0070] - Bo: size of overlapped bandwidth between sub-bands, i.e., an overlap size between hops (common) ;

[0071] - F0: a start frequency point of the first hop;

[0072] - In time domain:

[0073] - Si: start time point for each hop, for example, the hops other than the first one may be indicated by a time offset;

[0074] - L: a time duration of each sub-band, i.e., a hop duration (common for each hop) ;

[0075] - Ti: time gap between sub-bands, i.e., a time gap between two adjacent hops (may be different for different hop pair) .

[0076] It is to be noted that although a same band width and a same time duration are applied for each hop in FIG. 2A, in some other cases, different band widths and / or different time durations may be applied. It is to be noted that although different time gaps are applied in FIG. 2A, in some other cases, a same time gap may be applied.

[0077] In some implementations, a configuration for signal frequency hopping may be defined, for example, the configuration may indicate some or all of the parameters discussed above with reference to FIG. 2A.

[0078] In some example embodiments, a stair direction may also be indicated by the configuration, explicitly or implicitly.

[0079] In some examples, the configuration may include a dedicated indication which can explicitly indicate the stair direction. For example, an indication “1” may indicate “ascending” and an indication “0” may indicate “descending” .

[0080] In some other examples, the stair direction may be implicitly indicated by a sign of a configured overlap size (or overlap offset) . For example, if the sign of the overlap size (or overlap offset) is “+” , it may indicate that the stair direction is “ascending” ; and if the sign of the overlap size (or overlap offset) is “-” , it may indicate that the stair direction is “descending” .

[0081] FIG. 2B illustrates an example diagram of a stair direction 210 and FIG. 2C illustrates another example diagram of a stair direction 220. As shown in FIG. 2B, a frequency offset of the (i+1) -th hop relative to the i-th hop is positive (i.e., with a sign “+” ) , thus the stair direction is “ascending” . As shown in FIG. 2C, a frequency offset of the (i+1) -th hop relative to the i-th hop is negative (i.e., with a sign “-” ) , thus the stair direction is “descending” .

[0082] In some implementations, a stair direction may be indicated, however it may be neglected or ignored in some cases. In some examples, if the first hop is aligned with a lower edge of the total bandwidth, then the stair direction may be determined as ascending. In some examples, if the first hop is aligned with an upper edge of the BWPeff, then the stair direction may be determined as descending. In some embodiments, if the edge of the first hop is aligned with the edge of BWPeff, then only one stair direction is expected.

[0083] FIG. 2D illustrates an example diagram of a stair direction 230 by considering a location of the first hop. As shown in the FIG. 2D, a lower point (F0) of the first hop is aligned with the lower point (Fs) of BWPeff (Bf) : ascending order is expected. In case a configured stair direction (e.g., indicated by a dedicated signaling or a sign of the overlap size  / offset) is conflict with the predefined rules, then the configuration is invalid.

[0084] FIG. 2E illustrates another example diagram of a stair direction by considering a location of the first hop in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure;

[0085] As shown in the FIG. 2E, a higher point (F0+B) of the first hop is aligned with the higher point (Fs+Bf) of BWPeff (Bf) : descending order is expected. In case a configured stair direction (e.g., indicated by a dedicated signaling or a sign of the overlap size  / offset) is conflict with the predefined rules, then the configuration is invalid.

[0086] It is to be understood that the indexes of hops in each of FIGS. 2A-2E are shown in an order of ascending over time. However, in some other examples, the indexes of hops may be in an order of ascending or descending over frequency, the present disclosure does not limit this aspect.

[0087] Reference is further made to FIG. 3, which illustrates a signalling chart illustrating communication process 300 in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. Only for the purpose of discussion, the process 300 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. The process 300 may involve the network device 110 and the terminal device 120.

[0088] The network device 110 transmits 310 a configuration 312 to the terminal device 120. In some example embodiments, the configuration 312 may be associated with a signal frequency hopping. In some examples, the signal may be the SRS, or another type of signal.

[0089] In some example embodiments, the configuration 312 may indicate one or more of parameters which may include: a total bandwidth (Bf) , a number of a plurality of hops (N) , a configured bandwidth for each hop (B) , a start frequency of a first hop (f0) among the plurality of hops, a configured overlapped bandwidth (Bo) .

[0090] In some implementations, some other parameters related with the time domain may be further indicated by the configuration 312. Details of the parameters related with the time domain may refer to those discussed with reference to FIG. 2A.

[0091] In some implementations, a stair direction may also be indicated by the configuration 312. In some examples, the stair direction may be indicated by a dedicated indication or a sign of the configured overlapped bandwidth. In some other examples, the stair direction may be determined based on the location of the first hop, while the indicated stair direction may be ignored or may be regarded as invalid. Details of the stair direction may refer to those discussed with reference to FIGS. 2B-2E.

[0092] On the other side of communication, the terminal device 120 receives 314 the configuration 312. Accordingly, the terminal device 120 may be aware of the parameters indicated by the configuration 312.

[0093] In the process 300, the terminal device 120 determines 320 a hopping pattern for a signal based on the configuration. In some implementations, the determined hopping pattern may show: a location for each hop, a bandwidth of each hop, an overlapped bandwidth between hops, etc. In some implementations, the determined hopping pattern may show that at least one hop has a bandwidth that does not equal to the configured bandwidth for each hop. In some implementations, the determined hopping pattern may show that at least one overlapped bandwidth between hops does not equal to the configured overlapped bandwidth.

[0094] In some example embodiments, one of the multiple hops may have a bandwidth that  equals to the configured bandwidth for each hop, i.e., B. However, another one of the multiple hops may have a bandwidth that does not equal to the configured bandwidth, for example, a bandwidth of another hop may be less than B.

[0095] In some example embodiments, one overlapped bandwidth between two hops may equal to the configured overlapped bandwidth, i.e., Bo. However, another overlapped bandwidth between two hops may not equal to the configured overlapped bandwidth, for example, another overlapped bandwidth between two hops may be larger than Bo.

[0096] In some example embodiments, at least one (e.g., one or two) hop of the multiple hops in the hopping pattern is aligned with an edge of the total bandwidth BWPeff (i.e. indicated by the BWP of SRS positioning) . For example, one of the multiple hops is aligned with a lower edge (or a lower boundary) of the BWPeff, and / or another one of the multiple hops is aligned with a higher edge (or an upper boundary) of the BWPeff.

[0097] For ease of description, the total bandwidth may be a frequency range from a lower edge (or a lower boundary) to a higher edge (or an upper boundary) of a BWPeff. In some examples, the lower edge (or a lower boundary) of the BWPeff may be represented as Fs, and the higher edge (or an upper boundary) of the BWPeff may be represented as Fe, where Fe-Fs=Bf.

[0098] In some implementations, a start frequency of the first hop may be represented as F0. In some example embodiments, the start frequency of the first hop may be defined as a lower frequency point of the first hop, or may be defined as a higher frequency point of the first hop.

[0099] In some embodiments, the first hop may be aligned with an edge (aboundary) of the BWPeff. In some examples, the start frequency of the first hop is a lower frequency point of the first hop, and F0=Fs, then the first hop is aligned with the lower edge (or a lower boundary) of the BWPeff. In some examples, the start frequency of the first hop is a lower frequency point of the first hop, and F0=Fe-B, then the first hop is aligned with the higher edge (or an upper boundary) of the BWPeff. In some examples, the start frequency of the first hop is a higher frequency point of the first hop, and F0=Fe, then the first hop is aligned with the higher edge (or an upper boundary) of the BWPeff.

[0100] In some embodiments, the multiple hops (N hops) may be placed in order based on the configuration. In some embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with an edge (alower edge or a higher edge) of the BWPeff and the last hop (i.e., the N-th hop) is located across  another edge (ahigher edge or a lower edge) of the BWPeff, then the last hop may be adjusted. In some examples, the adjusted last hop is aligned with another edge (ahigher edge or a lower edge) of the BWPeff.

[0101] In some examples, the bandwidth of the last hop may be reduced. For example, if a first part of the last hop is outside of the BWPeff while a second part of the last hop is within the BWPeff, then the first part may be discarded while the second part is remained. For example, a bandwidth of the last hop may be: Bf - (N-1) * (B-Bo) .

[0102] In some other examples, the bandwidth of the last hop may still equal to B, while it is shifted so that the whole last hop is within the BWPeff. For example, an overlapped bandwidth between the last hop (the N-th hop) and its previous hop (the (N-1) -th hop) may be adjusted, e.g., to N*B- (N-2) *Bo -Bf.

[0103] In some implementations, the multiple hops (N hops) may be placed in order based on the configuration, for example, an initial hopping pattern is determined. In some implementations, the terminal device 120 may determine a specific hop, which may be represented as the t-th hop, where a frequency range of the t-th hop outside of the BWPeff is larger than a half of the configured bandwidth for each hop (B / 2) , where t is an integer less than N. In some examples, the t-th hop is across an edge of the BWPeff, or all of the t-th hop is outside of the BWPeff. In some examples, a hop adjacent and previous of the specific hop (the (t-1) -th hop) is within the BWPeff, or a frequency range of the (t-1) -th hop outside of the BWPeff is smaller than a half of the configured bandwidth for each hop (B / 2) .

[0104] In some implementations, the terminal device 120 may shift the specific hop (the t-th hop) . In some implementations, the terminal device 120 may further shift one or more hops that are outside of the total bandwidth, e.g., the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop.

[0105] In some example embodiments, the (t-1) -th hop may be within the BWPeff, for example, the (t-1) -th hop may be aligned with an edge of the BWPeff. In some other example embodiments, the (t-1) -th hop may be across the edge of the BWPeff. In some examples, the (t-1) -th hop may include a first part of the (t-1) -th hop outside the BWPeff and a second part of the (t-1) -th hop inside the BWPeff, where the first part of the (t-1) -th hop has a bandwidth less than B / 2. For example, the (t-1) -th hop may be shifted by the first part of the (t-1) -th hop, in this case, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the (t-1) -th hop and the (t-2) -th hop is not Bo. For example, the first part of the (t-1) -th hop may be discarded, in this case, the bandwidth of the (t-1) -th hop is less than B.

[0106] In some example embodiments, all of the t-th hop may be outside the BWPeff, for example, the t-th hop is aligned with an edge of the BWPeff. In some examples, the t-th hop may be shifted by the total bandwidth Bf. For example, a wrapping operation may be performed. In some examples, each of the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by the total bandwidth Bf, where the shift direction is consistent with the stair direction.

[0107] In some example embodiments, all of the t-th hop may be outside the BWPeff, for example, there is a frequency gap (represented as δB) between an edge of the t-th hop and the edge of the BWPeff. In some examples, the t-th hop and each of the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by a sum of the total bandwidth and the frequency gap, i.e. Bf+ δB. In this case, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the last hop and the first hop is not Bo.

[0108] In some example embodiments, the t-th hop may be across the edge of the BWPeff. In some examples, the t-th hop may include a first part of the t-th hop outside the BWPeffand a second part of the t-th hop inside the BWPeff, where the first part of the t-th hop has a bandwidth larger than B / 2.

[0109] In some examples, the t-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by a difference between the total bandwidth and the second part of the t-th hop. In some examples, each of the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by a same value, i.e., a difference between the total bandwidth and the second part of the t-th hop. In this case, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the last hop and the first hop is not Bo.

[0110] In some examples, the t-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by a difference between the total bandwidth and the second part of the t-th hop. In some examples, each of the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by the total bandwidth Bf. In this case, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the t-th hop and the (t+1) -th hop is not Bo.

[0111] In some examples, the t-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by a difference between the total bandwidth and the second part of the t-th hop. In some examples, for the i-th hop with t+1≤i<N, the i-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by a same value, i.e., a difference between the total bandwidth and the second part of the t-th hop. In some examples, the N-th hop is may be shifted or wrapped by the total bandwidth Bf. In this case, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the (N-1) -th hop and the N-th hop is not Bo.

[0112] In some examples, the t-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by the total bandwidth Bf,  and the second part of the t-th hop is discarded. In some examples, each of the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop may be shifted or wrapped by the total bandwidth Bf. In this case, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) is common, i.e. Bo, but the bandwidth of the t-th hop is less than B.

[0113] In some implementations, as mentioned above, the start frequency of the first hop may be indicated by the configuration, for example, the start frequency of the first hop may be represented as f0. In some example embodiments, the terminal device 120 may adjust the start frequency of the first hop for determining the hopping pattern.

[0114] In some example embodiments, the start frequency of the first hop may be limited so that at least one hop is aligned with an edge of the BWPeff. In some examples, an allowable range for the start frequency of the first hop may be determined based on the configuration.

[0115] In some implementations, the total bandwidth, i.e., the frequency range Fs to Fe may be multiplexed by multiple users. In some examples, multiple hopping patterns for multiple terminal devices may be multiplexed on a same time resource and a same frequency resource. In some examples, different hopping patterns may have different start frequencies of the first hop. In some example, a hop for the terminal device 120 and another hop for another terminal device is not overlapped, and the hop and another hop are located in a same time duration.

[0116] In the present disclosure, a total bandwidth for the signal frequency hopping may be interchangeably used with a virtual BWP, a BWP, or the like. In the present disclosure, a lower edge of the bandwidth may be interchangeably used with a lower boundary of the bandwidth, a lower edge (or boundary) of the BWPeff, or the like. In the present disclosure, a higher edge of the bandwidth may be interchangeably used with a higher boundary of the bandwidth, a higher edge (or boundary) of the BWPeff, an upper edge (or boundary) of the bandwidth, an upper edge (or boundary) of BWPeff, or the like.

[0117] On the other side of communication, the network device 110 determines 325 the hopping pattern too. The operation of 325 is similar with operation 320 discussed above, thus will not be repeated herein.

[0118] In the process 300, the terminal device 120 transmits 330 a signal 332 based on the hopping pattern. And the network device 110 receives 334 the signal 332 based on the hopping pattern.

[0119] In some examples, the signal may be the SRS. For example, the SRS may be used for positioning.

[0120] FIG. 4 illustrates an example diagram 400 for shifting one or more than one hop in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some examples, the terminal device 120 may determine the overlap size value Bo according to the number of hops N, the whole effective bandwidth Bf , the bandwidth of each hop B, and / or the granularity of the overlap size Bg, by one of the following equations and Bo=floor (B′o)       (1-1) and Bo=floor (B′o) *Bg      (1-2)

[0121] In some examples, a bandwidth of a hop may be divided into two parts as shown in FIG. 4 for ascending and descending respectively. Specifically, when the stair direction is ascending, a bandwidth of a hop may be divided into Buu (higher than the upper boundary of BWPeff) and Bdu (lower than the upper boundary of BWPeff) , if Buu>Bdu, then the whole hop may be wrapped to the lowest frequency of the BWPeff. Specifically, when the stair direction is descending, a bandwidth of a hop may be divided into Bul (higher than the lower boundary of BWPeff) and Bdl (lower than the lower boundary of BWPeff) , if Bdl>Bul, then the whole hop may be wrapped to the highest frequency of the BWPeff.

[0122] In some examples, one or more hops after these one are also wrapped in order. In some examples, if a hop is to be wrapped, then the shifted offset in frequency domain Fwrap for the hop may be: Fwrap=Bf-Bdu  for ascending; or Fwrap=Bf-Bul for descending.

[0123] FIG. 5 illustrates an example diagram 500 for wrapping a hop in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some examples, while wrapping a hop, different options may be considered.

[0124] For example, option 1 may be associated with 501 and 511 shown in FIG. 5, where part of the bandwidth that is outside of the boundary may be wrapped.

[0125] For example, option 2 may be associated with 502 and 512 shown in FIG. 5, where the whole hop may be wrapped by the total bandwidth. For example, the shifted offset for wrapping is Bf.

[0126] For example, option 3 may be associated with 503 and 513 shown in FIG. 5, where the whole hop may be wrapped by Fwrap as defined with reference to FIG. 4.

[0127] In some examples, if the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped, then option 3 may be used for the t-th hop, and option 2 or option 3 may be used for each of the (t+1) -th hop to the N-th hop.

[0128] In some examples, if the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped, then option 3 may be used for each of the t-th hop to the N-th hop.

[0129] In some examples, if the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped, then option 3 may be used for each of the t-th hop to the (N-1) -th hop, and option 2 may be used for the N-th hop. In some examples, if the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped, then option 3 may be used for each of the t-th hop to the (N-1) -th hop, and other value may be used for the N-th hop to make sure the overlap size between the first hop and the last hop being same as the configured one.

[0130] FIGS. 6A-6C illustrate example diagrams for shifting the last hop. The first hop among N hops is aligned with a lower edge (FIG. 6A) or a higher edge (FIG. 6B or 6C) , in this case, no wrapping is needed.

[0131] FIG. 6A illustrates a hopping pattern 610 where the last hop is shifted, where the stair direction is ascending. As an example, N=6 hops are shown in FIG. 6A. Since part of the 6th hop is outside of the BWPeff, i.e., (N-1) *B- (N-2) *Bo<Bf and N*B- (N-1) *Bo>Bf, the last hop may be shifted to align with the upper boundary. In this case, an overlapped bandwidth between the 5th hop and the 6th hop will be Bs  which is different from Bo.

[0132] Specifically, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the N-th hop and the (N-1) -th hop is: Bs=N*B- (N-2) *Bo-Bf. For example, if N=6, then Bs=6B-4Bo-Bf.

[0133] In addition, a start frequency point of each hop may be defined. In some examples, the hop index defined in order of time and in order of frequency are aligned. In some examples, the start frequency point of the n-th hop is determined as Fn-1, and a frequency range of the n-th hop is Fn-1~Fn-1+B , where Fn-1  may be determines based on Equations below: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)         n<N    (2-1) Fn-1=F0+ (n-2) * (B-Bo) +B-Bs   n=N       (2-2)

[0134] where Equation (2-2) may be represented as Equation (2-3) below: Fn-1=F0+Bf-B             n=N      (2-3)

[0135] FIGS. 6B-6C illustrate hopping patterns 620 and 630 respectively where the last hop is shifted, where the stair direction is descending. As an example, N=6 hops are shown in FIGS. 6B-6C. Since part of the 6th hop is outside of the BWPeff, i.e., (N-1) *B- (N-2) *Bo<Bf  and N*B- (N-1) *Bo>Bf , the last hop may be shifted to align with the lower boundary. In this case, an overlapped bandwidth between the 5th hop and the 6th hop will be Bs which is different from Bo.

[0136] Specifically, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the N-th hop and the (N-1) -th hop is: Bs=N*B- (N-2) *Bo-Bf. For example, if N=6, then Bs=6B-4Bo-Bf.

[0137] In addition, a start frequency point of each hop may be defined. In some examples, the hop index defined in order of time and in order of frequency are aligned. In some examples, the start frequency point of the n-th hop is determined as Fn-1.

[0138] In some example embodiments, the start frequency point of the n-th hop may be a higher frequency point (the highest frequency) of the n-th hop, as shown in FIG. 6B, then a frequency range of the n-th hop is Fn-1-B~Fn-1. In some example embodiments, the start frequency point of the n-th hop may be a lower frequency point (the lowest frequency) of the n-th hop, as shown in FIG. 6C, then a frequency range of the n-th hop is Fn-1~Fn-1+B. In some examples, Fn-1 may be determines based on Equations below: Fn-1=F0- (n-1) * (B-Bo)           n<N       (3-1) Fn-1=F0- (n-2) * (B-Bo) -B-Bs   n=N      (3-2)

[0139] where Equation (3-2) may be represented as Equation (3-3) below: Fn-1=F0+Bf-B                 n=N       (3-3)

[0140] FIGS. 7A-7E illustrate example diagrams for shifting multiple hops in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some implementations, there may be more than one hop needs to be shifted, in this case, a wrapping operation may be performed.

[0141] FIG. 7A illustrates an order of N=6 hops 710 which is initially determined according to the configuration. In some example, for N hops, the t-th hop may be determined, and the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped. For example, if the stair direction is ascending, the t-th hop may be determined by Ft-1<Fe and Ft-1+B>Fe, where Ft-1 is the start  frequency point (lower one) of the t-th hop, or the bandwidth outside of the boundary of BWPeff is larger than B / 2.

[0142] As shown in FIG. 7A, the third hop is aligned with an upper edge of the BWPeff, the fourth hop is across the upper edge with Buu>Bdu (refer to FIG. 4) , and the fifth hop and the sixth hop are outside the BWP. In this case, t=4, and each of the fourth hop to the sixth hop may be wrapped by a shifted offset, for example, some examples are shown below with reference to FIGS. 7B-7E.

[0143] FIG. 7B illustrates a hopping pattern 720 which is determined based on FIG. 7A. The fourth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to: a difference between the total bandwidth and a frequency range of the fourth hop that is within the BWPeff, that is, Fwrap=Bf-Bdu that discussed with reference to FIG. 4. The fifth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to the total bandwidth Bf, and the sixth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to the total bandwidth Bf.

[0144] In this case, each of the first hop to the sixth hop has a bandwidth B, an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the first hop and the second hop, between the second hop and the third hop, between the fifth hop and the sixth hop equals to Bo, while an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the fourth hop and the fifth hop is Bs, where Bs=2Bo.

[0145] Specifically, a start frequency point of each hop may be determined. As shown in FIG. 7B, the stair direction is ascending, and the start frequency point (lower one) of each hop may be determined by Equations below: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)        n<t      (4-1) Fn-1=Fs                         n=t      (4-2) Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo) -Bf    n>t       (4-3)

[0146] FIG. 7C illustrates a hopping pattern 730 which is determined based on FIG. 7A. Each of the fourth hop to the sixth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to: a difference between the total bandwidth and a frequency range of the fourth hop that is within the BWP, that is, Fwrap=Bf-Bdu that discussed with reference to FIG. 4.

[0147] In this case, each of the first hop to the sixth hop has a bandwidth B, an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the first hop and the second hop, between the second hop and the third hop, between the fourth hop and the fifth hop, between the fifth hop and the sixth hop, equals to Bo, while an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the first hop  and the sixth hop is Bs, where N*B- (N-2) *Bo-Bf.

[0148] Specifically, a start frequency point of each hop may be determined. As shown in FIG. 7C, the stair direction is ascending, and the start frequency point (lower one) of each hop may be determined by Equations below: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)            n<Ns    (5-1) Fn-1=Fs+ (n-Nt) * (B-Bo)             Nt≤n<N   (5-2) Fn-1=Fs+ (n-Nt-1) * (B-Bo) + (B-Bs)        n=N   (5-3)

[0149] FIG. 7D illustrates a hopping pattern 740 which is determined based on FIG. 7A. Each of the fourth hop to the fifth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to: a difference between the total bandwidth and a frequency range of the fourth hop that is within the BWP, that is, Fwrap=Bf-Bdu that discussed with reference to FIG. 4. The sixth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset making the overlap size between the first hop and the sixth hop being same as Bo.

[0150] In this case, each of the first hop to the sixth hop has a bandwidth B, an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the first hop and the second hop, between the second hop and the third hop, between the fourth hop and the fifth hop, between the first hop and the sixth hop equals to Bo, while an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the fifth hop and the sixth hop is Bs, where N*B- (N-2) *Bo-Bf.

[0151] Specifically, a start frequency point of each hop may be determined. As shown in FIG. 7D, the stair direction is ascending, and the start frequency point (lower one) of each hop may be determined by Equations below: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)        n<t      (6-1) Fn-1=Fs+ (n-Nt) * (B-Bo)        n≥t     (6-2)

[0152] where Equation (6-2) for n=N may be represented as Equation (6-3) below: Fn-1=F0+Bo-B     n=N         (6-3)

[0153] FIG. 7E illustrates a hopping pattern 750 which is determined based on FIG. 7A. Each of the fourth hop to the fifth hop is wrapped by total bandwidth Bf, in addition, a part (Bdu) of the fourth hop is discarded.

[0154] In this case, each of the first hop to the third hop and the fifth hop to the sixth hop has a bandwidth B, while the fourth hop has a bandwidth B-Bdu. An overlapped bandwidth  (overlap size) between the first hop and the second hop, between the second hop and the third hop, between the fourth hop and the fifth hop, between the fifth hop and the sixth hop equals to Bo. The bandwidth which is out of the bandwidth (BWPeff) after wrapping is discarded, for the hop is across a boundary of the bandwidth.

[0155] FIG. 8 illustrates an example diagram 800 for shifting multiple hops in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some implementations, there may be more than one hop needs to be shifted, in this case, a wrapping operation may be performed. In some example, for N hops, the t-th hop may be determined, and the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped. For example, if the stair direction is ascending, a lower boundary of the t-th hop is aligned with an upper boundary of the BWPeff.

[0156] As shown at 810, an order of N=6 hops which is initially determined according to the configuration. The third hop is across the upper edge with Buu<Bdu (refer to FIG. 4) , and the fourth hop to the sixth hop are outside the BWPeff where the fourth hop is aligned with an upper edge of the BWPeff. In this case, t=4, and each of the fourth hop to the sixth hop may be wrapped by a shifted offset.

[0157] As shown at 820, the third hop is shifted by Buu of the third hop. Each of the fourth hop to the sixth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to the total bandwidth Bf. In this case, each of the first hop to the sixth hop has a bandwidth B, an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the first hop and the second hop, between the fourth hop and the fifth hop, between the fifth hop and the sixth hop equals to Bo, while an overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the second hop and the third hop is Bs, where Bs=2Bo.

[0158] Specifically, a start frequency point of each hop may be determined. As shown at 820, the stair direction is ascending, and the start frequency point (lower one) of each hop may be determined by Equations below: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)        n<t-1       (7-1) Fn-1=Fe-B                 n=t-1      (7-2) Fn-1=Fs          n=t            (7-3) Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo) -Bf    n>t       (7-4)

[0159] In some examples, the Equation (7-2) may also be equivalent to: Fn-1=Fe+ (n-2) * (B-Bo) +B-Bs     n=t-1     (7-5)

[0160] As shown at 830, each of the fourth hop to the sixth hop is wrapped by a shifted offset which equals to the total bandwidth Bf, and a part (Buu) of the third hop is discarded.

[0161] In this case, each of the first hop to the second hop and the fourth hop to the sixth hop has a bandwidth B, while the third hop has a bandwidth B-Buu . An overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the first hop and the second hop, between the second hop and the third hop, between the fourth hop and the fifth hop, between the fifth hop and the sixth hop equals to Bo. The bandwidth which is out of the bandwidth (BWPeff) is discarded, for the hop is across a boundary of the bandwidth.

[0162] FIGS. 9A-9B illustrate example diagrams for shifting multiple hops in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some implementations, there may be more than one hop needs to be shifted, in this case, a wrapping operation may be performed. In some example, for N hops, the t-th hop may be determined, and the t-th hop to the N-th hop are to be wrapped. For example, if the stair direction is ascending, the t-th hop meets Buu>Bdu (refer to FIG. 4) and the (t-1) -th hop meets Buu<Bdu. In this case, the (t-1) -th hop needs to be adjusted (shifted or part of it needs to be discarded) , and the t-th hop to the N-th hop need to be wrapped.

[0163] As shown at 910, an order of N=6 hops which is initially determined according to the configuration. The third hop is across the upper edge with Buu<Bdu (refer to FIG. 4) , and the fourth hop is across the upper edge with Buu>Bdu (refer to FIG. 4) . In this case, t=4.

[0164] As shown at 920-940, the third hop is shifted by Buu  of the third hop, and the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) between the second hop and the third hop is Bs1, where Bs1=Bo+Fe-F0- (t-1) *B-t*Bo. As for the fourth hop to the sixth hop, 920-940 are corresponding to 720-740 discussed above. It is understood that each hop at 920-940 has a bandwidth B.

[0165] Specifically, a start frequency point of each hop may be determined. The stair direction is ascending, and the start frequency point (lower one) of each hop may be determined by Equations below.

[0166] For 920, Bs2=2Bo-Bs1: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)            n<t-1      (8-1) Fn-1=F0+ (n-2) * (B-Bo) +B-Bs1      n=t-1     (8-2) Fn-1=Fs                         n=t     (8-3) Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo) -Bf           n>t     (8-4)

[0167] For 930, Bs2=N*B- (N-3) *Bo-Bs1-Bf: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)      n<t-1      (9-1) Fn-1=F0+ (n-2) * (B-Bo) +B-Bs1      n=t-1      (9-2) Fn-1=Fs+ (n-Nt) * (B-Bo)              n≥t      (9-3)

[0168] where Equation (9-3) for n=N may be represented as Equation (9-4) below: Fn-1=F0+Bo-B          n=N          (9-4)

[0169] For 940, Bs2=N*B- (N-3) *Bo-Bs1-Bf: Fn-1=F0+ (n-1) * (B-Bo)                n<t-1      (10-1) Fn-1=F0+ (n-2) * (B-Bo) +B-Bs1     n=t-1     (10-2) Fn-1=Fs+ (n-Nt) * (B-Bo)               t≤n<N     (10-3) Fn-1=Fs+ (n-Nt-1) * (B-Bo) + (B-Bs2)   n=N     (10-4)

[0170] FIG. 9B illustrates a hopping pattern 950 which is determined based on 910 in FIG. 9A. A part (Buu) of the third hop is discarded. Each of the fourth hop to the fifth hop is wrapped by total bandwidth Bf, in addition, a part (Bdu) of the fourth hop is discarded.

[0171] According to some example schematics with reference to FIGS. 7A-9B, some examples are discussed for determining the hopping pattern when the stair direction is ascending. It is to be understood that the example of the hopping pattern for a descending stair direction are similar, for clarity of the description, detailed examples for descending stair direction are not listed herein.

[0172] FIGS. 10A-10D illustrate example diagrams of a limitation for the start frequency point of the first hop in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 10A illustrates an example 1010 for limiting the start frequency point of the first hop when the stair direction is ascending. It is expected that Buu<Bdu is unallowable, thus the start frequency point of the first hop (i.e., a start location of the first hop) may be limited to, e.g., an enable frequency for the start point in FIG. 10A, to ensure at least one hop is aligned with or near to the edge of the BWPeff, or ensure at most one hop is across the boundary of the BWPeff. FIG. 10B illustrates an example 1020 for limiting the start frequency point of the  first hop when the stair direction is descending. It is expected that Bdl<Bul  is unallowable, thus the start frequency point of the first hop (i.e., a start location of the first hop) may be limited to, e.g., an enable frequency for the start point in FIG. 10B, to ensure at least one hop is aligned with or near to the edge of the BWPeff, or ensure at most one hop is across the boundary of the BWPeff.

[0173] FIG. 10C illustrates an example 1030 of expected start frequency point of the first hop when the stair direction is ascending. For example, the expected start frequency point is F01, F02, or F03, so that the first hop, the second hop, or the third hop may be aligned with the upper boundary of the BWPeff.

[0174] FIG. 10D illustrates an example 1040 of expected start frequency point of the first hop when the stair direction is descending. For example, the expected start frequency point is F01, F02, or F03, so that the first hop, the second hop, or the third hop may be aligned with the lower boundary of the BWPeff.

[0175] It is to be understood that F01 in FIG. 10C or 10D is not the configurable value if only one direction is ensured when the edge of the first hop is aligned with the edge of BWPeff.

[0176] In some examples, the start frequency point of the first hop may be configured as f0, and it may be adjusted to F01. In some examples, the case 910 may be avoided by adjusting the start frequency point of the first hop, for example, the case 710 (or 810) may be expected.

[0177] FIGS. 11A-11C illustrate some example diagrams of hopping patterns for multiple users in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. In some examples, the start frequency point of the first hop may be limited to ensure that at least one hop is aligned with an edge of the BWPeff for all terminal devices.

[0178] FIG. 11A illustrates an example diagram of hopping patterns 1110 for multiple terminal devices and FIG. 11B illustrates an example diagram of hopping patterns 1120 for multiple terminal devices. For example, it is assumed that the hopping pattern 1111 / 1121 is used for a first terminal device, the hopping pattern 1112 / 1122 is used for a second terminal device, and the hopping pattern 1113 / 1123 is used for a third terminal device. As shown in FIGS. 11A-11B, for each UE, the edge of the hops nearest to the edge of BWPeff is aligned with the edge of BWPeff. Specifically, the first hop and the sixth hop of the hopping pattern 1111 / 1121 for the first terminal device are aligned with the edges of the BWPeff. The second hop and the third hop of the hopping pattern 1112 / 1122 for the second terminal device are  aligned with the edges of the BWPeff. The fourth hop and the fifth hop of the hopping pattern 1113 / 1123 for the third terminal device are aligned with the edges of the BWPeff.

[0179] In some examples, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) and / or bandwidth size for each hopping pattern may be determined. As shown in FIG. 11A, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) not equaling to Bo is shown in dashed line boxes. As shown in FIG. 11B, the overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) not equaling to Bo, e.g. between the fifth hop and the sixth hop, is shown in dashed line boxes.

[0180] It is to be understood that in some other cases, the configured overlapped bandwidth (overlap size) Bo may be applied for each hop for each terminal device, which is not shown in FIGS. 11A-11B.

[0181] FIG. 11C illustrates an example diagram of hopping patterns 1130 for multiple terminal devices. There are five hopping patterns for five terminal devices, and each hopping pattern includes 9 hops.

[0182] In some examples, the start frequency point of the first hop may be limited to ensure that at least one hop is aligned with an edge of the BWPeff for all terminal devices. As shown in FIG. 11C, there are two hops that are aligned with the edges of the BWPeff in each hopping pattern for each terminal device.

[0183] It is to be noted that the gaps (over time, over frequency) are not shown in FIG. 11C, however, it is to be understood that the gaps are needed.

[0184] In some examples, for each terminal device, an additional gap with a same length of a hop may be needed between the two hops nearest to the boundary of BWPeff. As such, a collision may be avoided.

[0185] According to some example embodiments provided above with reference to FIGS. 2A-11C, a hopping pattern for a signal transmission may be determined, for example, a bandwidth size of a hop may be adjusted or an overlap size between two hops may be adjusted. As such, the transmission resource within the BWP may be utilized more efficient. Therefore, a transmission efficiency of the signal may be guaranteed.

[0186] As proposed in RAN1 #114, the already specified collision rules are applied to the SRS resource with Tx hopping, including all hops and time between hops, as well as the retuning time prior to the first hop and after the last hop; and the already specified collision rules are applied to every hop in an SRS resource with Tx hopping, including the retuning  time before and after each hop. However, the behavior of dealing with collision of gap between two hops and the collided UL channels / signals is to be defined.

[0187] Reference is further made to FIG. 12, which illustrates a signalling chart illustrating communication process 1200 in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. Only for the purpose of discussion, the process 1200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. The process 1200 may involve the network device 110 and the terminal device 120.

[0188] In the process 1200, the terminal device 120 determines 1210 a first signal and a second signal to be transmitted. In some examples, the first signal may be the SRS or PRS in a hopping pattern or a hopping cycle. In some examples, the second signal may be another uplink transmission, such as a UL signal to be transmitted over PUSCH.

[0189] In some implementations, the terminal device 120 may determine a time duration for each of the transmission. In some examples, the first signal includes a first hop and a second hop, for example, the first hop may be represented as the n-th hop and the second hop may be represented as the (n+1) -th hop. In some examples, the second signal may be to be transmitted between the first hop and the second hop in time domain.

[0190] In some examples, the second signal may also be called as a UL signal or a UL channel.

[0191] For ease of description, a first time gap between the first hop and the second signal may be represented as t1, which is a time length between the end of the first hop and the start of the UL signal / channel. A second time gap between the second signal and the second hop may be represented as t2 , which is a time length between the end of the UL signal / channel and the start of the second hop. A time duration of the second signal (the UL signal / channel) may be represented as t3 . A time length between the first hop and the second hop may be represented as t4, e.g., t4=t1+t3+t2.

[0192] In the process 1200, the terminal device 120 transmits 1220 a transmission 1222 to the network device 120. In some implementations, the transmission 1222 may include the first signal and / or the second signal.

[0193] In some implementations, if the first time gap exceeds a first predefined time length and the second time gap exceeds a second predefined time length, then both the first signal and the second signal may be transmitted. In some embodiments, the terminal device 120 may transmit the first hop of the first signal, then switch to a channel to transmit the second  signal, and then switch back to transmit the second hop of the first signal.

[0194] For example, the first predefined time length may be a first threshold which may be represented as Tswitch1. For example, the second predefined time length may be a second threshold which may be represented as Tswitch2. In some examples, the first predefined time length may equal to the second predefined time length.

[0195] For example, if t1≥Tswitch1 and t2≥Tswitch2, then both the first signal and the second signal may be transmitted.

[0196] In some other implementations, if the first time gap is shorter than a first predefined time length or the second time gap is shorter than a second predefined time length, then one signal with a higher priority may be transmitted.

[0197] In some examples, if a priority of the first signal is higher than a priority of the second signal, then the first hop and the second hop of the first signal may be transmitted, and the second signal may be discarded.

[0198] In some other examples, if a priority of the second signal is higher than a priority of the first signal, then the second signal may be transmitted, and the first hop and / or the second hop of the first signal may be discarded. For example, if the first time gap exceeds the first predefined time length, and the second time gap is shorter than the second predefined time length, then the first hop may be transmitted, and the second hop may be discarded. For another example, if the first time gap is shorter than the first predefined time length, and the second time gap exceeds the second predefined time length, then the first hop may be discarded, and the second hop may be transmitted. If the first time gap is shorter than the first predefined time length, and the second time gap is shorter than the second predefined time length, then both the first hop and second hop may be discarded.

[0199] In some implementations, if a sum of the first time gap and the second time gap exceeds a sum of a first predefined time length and a second predefined time length, then both the first signal and the second signal may be transmitted. In some embodiments, the terminal device 120 may transmit the first hop of the first signal, then switch to a channel to transmit the second signal, and then switch back to transmit the second hop of the first signal. For example, if t1+t2≥Tswitch1+Tswitch2, then both the first signal and the second signal may be transmitted.

[0200] In some example embodiments, if a sum of the first time gap and the second time gap exceeds a sum of a first predefined time length and a second predefined time length, i.e.,  t1+t2≥Tswitch1+Tswitch2 , then the terminal device 120 does not expect that a time location of the second signal (the UL signal / channel) meets t1<Tswitch1 or t2<Tswitch2. In other words, the UL channel / signal scheduled by the network device 110 should make t1≥Tswitch1 and t2≥Tswitch2.

[0201] In some example embodiments, if a sum of the first time gap and the second time gap is shorter than the sum of a first predefined time length and a second predefined length, but exceeds a sum of a first predefined time length and a predefined time offset (t△) or a sum of a second predefined time length and a predefined time offset (t△ ) , i.e., t1+t2<Tswitch1+Tswitch2 and (t1+t2>Tswitch1+t△ or t1+t2>Tswitch2+t△) , then the terminal device 120 does not expect that a time location of the second signal (the UL signal / channel) meets t1<Tswitch1 and t2<Tswitch2. In other words, the UL channel / signal scheduled by the network device 110 should make t1≥Tswitch1 or t2≥Tswitch2, and only one hop may be discarded when the priority of the second signal is higher.

[0202] On the other side of communication, the network device 110 receives 1224 the transmission 1222, that is, the first signal and / or the second signal.

[0203] FIG. 13 illustrates an example diagram of time gaps 1300 between a first signal and a second signal in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown at 1310, since t1≥Tswitch1 and t2≥Tswitch2, then both the first signal and the second signal may be transmitted.

[0204] In some examples, if t1+t2≥Tswitch1+Tswitch2, but the terminal device 120 does not expect t1<Tswitch1 or t2<Tswitch2, that is, either 1320 or 1330 is expected to be scheduled.

[0205] In some examples, as shown at 1340, if t1<Tswitch1 and t2<Tswitch2, then a signal with a higher priority will be transmitted.

[0206] According to some example embodiments with reference to FIGS. 12-13, a collision handling rule for SRS (or PRS) with frequency hopping is proposed. In some solutions, the collision handling rules between hops and UL signal / channel are discussed. As such, a signal transmission can be guaranteed.

[0207] FIG. 14 illustrates a flowchart of an example method 1400 implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of  discussion, the method 1400 will be described from the perspective of the terminal device 120 with reference to FIG. 1.

[0208] At block 1410, the terminal device 120 receives, from a network device, a configuration for signal frequency hopping, the configuration indicating at least one of: a total bandwidth, a number of a plurality of hops, a configured bandwidth for each hop, a start frequency of a first hop among the plurality of hops, a configured overlapped bandwidth. At 1420, the terminal device determines, based on the configuration, a hopping pattern, wherein the hopping pattern indicates at least one of: at least one overlapped bandwidth is different from the configured overlapped bandwidth, or at least one bandwidth of at least one hop is different from the configured bandwidth. At block 1430, the terminal device transmits, to the network device, a signal in the plurality of hops based on the determined hopping pattern.

[0209] In some example embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with an edge of the total bandwidth, the terminal device determines an overlapped bandwidth between a last hop and a previous hop of the last hop, or the bandwidth of the last hop based on: the total bandwidth, the number of the plurality of hops, the configured bandwidth for each hop, and the configured overlapped bandwidth, wherein the last hop is aligned with another edge of the total bandwidth.

[0210] In some example embodiments, the number of the plurality of hops is represented as N, N is a positive integer, the total bandwidth is represented as Bf, the configured bandwidth for each hop is represented as B, and the configured overlapped bandwidth is represented as Bo. In some examples, an overlapped bandwidth between the i-th hop and the (i-1) -th hop is the configured overlapped bandwidth, i=2, 3, …N-1, and wherein an overlapped bandwidth between the (N-1) -th hop and the N-th hop is: N*B- (N-2) *Bo-Bf. In some examples, the bandwidth for the i-th hop is the configured bandwidth B, i=1, 2, …, N-1, and wherein an bandwidth for the last hop is: Bf- (N-1) * (B-Bo) .

[0211] In some example embodiments, the configuration further indicates a stair direction of the plurality of hops, and wherein the stair direction is ascending or descending via a dedicated indication or a sign of the configured overlapped bandwidth.

[0212] In some example embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with a lower edge of the total bandwidth, the terminal device determines that an actual stair direction is ascending regardless of the stair direction indicated by the configuration. In some example  embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with a higher edge of the total bandwidth, the terminal device determines that an actual stair direction is descending regardless of the stair direction indicated by the configuration.

[0213] In some example embodiments, the terminal device determines the plurality of hops in order based on: the configured bandwidth for each hop, the start frequency of the first hop, the configured overlapped bandwidth, and a stair direction indicated by the configuration; the terminal device determines a specific hop among the plurality of hops, wherein the specific hop is across an edge of the total bandwidth, and a frequency range of the specific hop outside of the total bandwidth is larger than a half of the configured bandwidth for each hop; and shifts, in frequency domain, the specific hop and one or more hops outside of the total bandwidth.

[0214] In some example embodiments, the number of the plurality of hops is represented as N and the specific hop is the K-th hop among the plurality of hops, the terminal device shifts a whole of the i-th hop by a second offset in frequency domain, wherein i=K, K+1, …, N, and where the second offset equals to one of: the total bandwidth, a sum of the frequency range of the K-th hop outside of the total bandwidth and a difference between the total bandwidth and the configured bandwidth for each hop, or a sum of the frequency range of the i-th hop outside of the total bandwidth and a difference between the total bandwidth and the configured bandwidth for each hop. For example, K is an integer which is less than N.

[0215] In some example embodiments, the number of the plurality of hops is represented as N and the specific hop is the K-th hop among the plurality of hops, if a frequency range of the (K-1) -th hop outside of the total bandwidth is less than a half of the configured bandwidth for each hop, the terminal device performs one of: discarding the frequency range of the (K-1) -th hop that is outside of the total bandwidth; or shifting a whole of the (K-1) -th hop by a third offset in frequency domain, wherein the third offset equals to the frequency range of the (K-1) -th hop that is outside of the total bandwidth.

[0216] In some example embodiments, the start frequency of the first hop is adjusted so that at least one hop among the plurality of hops is aligned with an edge of the total bandwidth.

[0217] In some example embodiments, a plurality of hopping patterns for a plurality of terminal devices are multiplexed on a same time resource and a same frequency resource, where different hopping patterns have different start frequencies of the first hop, and wherein the same frequency resource is associated with the total bandwidth.

[0218] FIG. 15 illustrates a flowchart of an example method 1500 implemented at a network device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1500 will be described from the perspective of the network device 110 with reference to FIG. 1.

[0219] At block 1510, the network device 110 transmits, to a terminal device, a configuration for signal frequency hopping, the configuration indicating at least one of: a total bandwidth, a number of a plurality of hops, a configured bandwidth for each hop, a start frequency of a first hop among the plurality of hops, a configured overlapped bandwidth. At block 1520, the network device determines, based on the configuration, a hopping pattern, wherein the hopping pattern indicates at least one of: at least one overlapped bandwidth is different from the configured overlapped bandwidth, or at least one bandwidth of at least one hop is different from the configured bandwidth. At block 1530, the network device receives, from the terminal device, a signal in the plurality of hops based on the determined hopping pattern.

[0220] In some example embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with an edge of the total bandwidth, the network device determines an overlapped bandwidth between a last hop and a previous hop of the last hop, or the bandwidth of the last hop based on: the total bandwidth, the number of the plurality of hops, the configured bandwidth for each hop, and the configured overlapped bandwidth, wherein the last hop is aligned with another edge of the total bandwidth.

[0221] In some example embodiments, the number of the plurality of hops is represented as N, N is a positive integer, the total bandwidth is represented as Bf, the configured bandwidth for each hop is represented as B, and the configured overlapped bandwidth is represented as Bo.

[0222] In some example embodiments, the configuration further indicates a stair direction of the plurality of hops, and wherein the stair direction is ascending or descending via a dedicated indication or a sign of the configured overlapped bandwidth.

[0223] In some example embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with a lower edge of the  total bandwidth, the network device determines that an actual stair direction is ascending regardless of the stair direction indicated by the configuration. In some example embodiments, if the first hop is aligned with a higher edge of the total bandwidth, the network device determines that an actual stair direction is descending regardless of the stair direction indicated by the configuration.

[0224] In some example embodiments, the network device determines the plurality of hops in order based on: the configured bandwidth for each hop, the start frequency of the first hop, the configured overlapped bandwidth, and a stair direction indicated by the configuration; the network device determines a specific hop among the plurality of hops, wherein the specific hop is across an edge of the total bandwidth, and a frequency range of the specific hop outside of the total bandwidth is larger than a half of the configured bandwidth for each hop; and the network device shifts, in frequency domain, the specific hop and one or more hops outside of the total bandwidth.

[0225] In some example embodiments, the number of the plurality of hops is represented as N and the specific hop is the K-th hop among the plurality of hops, the network device shifts a whole of the i-th hop by a second offset in frequency domain, wherein i=K, K+1, …, N, and where the second offset equals to one of: the total bandwidth, a sum of the frequency range of the K-th hop outside of the total bandwidth and a difference between the total bandwidth and the configured bandwidth for each hop, or a sum of the frequency range of the i-th hop outside of the total bandwidth and a difference between the total bandwidth and the configured bandwidth for each hop.

[0226] In some example embodiments, the number of the plurality of hops is represented as N and the specific hop is the K-th hop among the plurality of hops, if a frequency range of the (K-1) -th hop outside of the total bandwidth is less than a half of the configured bandwidth for each hop, the network device performs one of: discarding the frequency range of the (K-1) -th hop that is outside of the total bandwidth; or shifting a whole of the (K-1) -th hop by a third offset in frequency domain, wherein the third offset equals to the frequency range of the (K-1) -th hop that is outside of the total bandwidth.

[0227] In some example embodiments, the start frequency of the first hop is adjusted so that at least one hop among the plurality of hops is aligned with an edge of the total bandwidth.
