Description

Multi-column structure for reducing vertical seismic loads

[0001] The present invention relates to a multi-column structure for reducing vertical seismic loads applicable to nuclear power plants by distributing seismic loads acting in the vertical direction.

[0002] In general, a seismic load reducing device is installed between the superstructure and the ground (or lower layer) to protect the structure from seismic energy transmitted from the ground to the superstructure.

[0003] A device for reducing seismic loads is disclosed in Korean Patent No. 10-2388202. This publication discloses a technology for a single seismic load reduction device supporting a superstructure, comprising an upper spring and a lower laminated rubber. In conventional seismic load reduction devices, each system independently supports the superstructure without any interconnection.

[0004] The technology disclosed in the above-mentioned publication loses its vertical load-reducing function if the springs at the corners are permanently deformed. Therefore, the technology disclosed in the above-mentioned publication may cause the superstructure to tilt toward the deformed springs, potentially causing the structure to overturn or be damaged. Furthermore, the technology disclosed in the above-mentioned publication allows the remaining, undamaged springs to perform the vertical load-reducing function. Therefore, the technology disclosed in the above-mentioned publication suffers from the problem of not sufficiently demonstrating the intended restoring force and load-reducing function.

[0005] Meanwhile, the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC), a key benchmarking body for domestic nuclear regulatory agencies, recommends the use of load reduction devices made of natural rubber and friction pendulum-type load reduction devices in its report NUREG / CR-7253 (2019), which show that mechanical properties do not change over time. In other words, the US NRC emphasizes that all seismic load reduction devices must be able to naturally return to their original position due to internal restoring force, not external springs, after displacement due to an earthquake. Therefore, existing technologies that have developed spring-type structures to reduce vertical seismic loads face difficulties in the licensing process. In other words, these existing technologies are difficult to apply to nuclear power plants in practice.

[0006] In addition, the seismic load reduction system applied to nuclear power plants has the difficulty of requiring more consideration for safety than the requirements applied to other types of nuclear power plants.

[0007] Accordingly, the present invention has been proposed to solve the above-mentioned problems, and the purpose of the present invention is to provide a multi-column structure that increases stability against earthquakes by reducing vertical seismic loads.

[0008] In addition, another object of the present invention is to provide a multi-column structure that can maintain the vertical seismic load reduction function even when a seismic load reduction device installed at a specific location is damaged by distributing the vertical seismic load reduction function to the upper part of the column and the side of the column.

[0009] Another object of the present invention is to provide a multi-column structure that supports lateral seismic loads while minimizing space.

[0010] In addition, another object of the present invention is to provide a multi-column structure for reducing vertical seismic loads, which can be easily approved and applied in the domestic nuclear power industry.

[0011] In order to achieve the above object of the present invention, the present invention provides a multi-column structure for reducing vertical seismic load, including a first column installed between a lower layer and an upper layer, a first vertical load reducing member installed between the upper layer and the first column, a second column disposed adjacent to the first column and installed between the lower layer and the upper layer, a second vertical load reducing member installed between the lower layer and the second column, and a first side vertical load reducing member installed between the first column and the second column.

[0012] It is preferable that the earthquake load reducing device further includes a third column disposed adjacent to the second column and installed between the lower layer and the upper layer, a fourth column disposed adjacent to the third column and the first column and installed between the lower layer and the upper layer, a third vertical load reducing unit installed between the upper layer and the third column, a fourth vertical load reducing unit installed between the lower layer and the fourth column, a second side vertical load reducing unit installed between the second column and the third column, a third side vertical load reducing unit installed between the third column and the fourth column, and a fourth side vertical load reducing unit installed between the fourth column and the first column.

[0013] It is preferable that the first side vertical load reducing portion includes a first lower load reducing portion arranged at the bottom, and a first upper load reducing portion arranged at the top of the first lower load reducing portion.

[0014] It is preferable that the first side vertical load reduction portion is formed by laminating a steel plate and rubber.

[0015] The second side vertical load reducing portion includes a second lower load reducing portion arranged at the bottom, and a second upper load reducing portion arranged at the top of the second lower load reducing portion.

[0016] The third side vertical load reducing portion includes a third lower load reducing portion arranged at the bottom, and a third upper load reducing portion arranged at the top of the third lower load reducing portion.

[0017] It is preferable that the fourth side vertical load reducing portion includes a fourth lower load reducing portion arranged at the bottom, and a fourth upper load reducing portion arranged at the top of the fourth lower load reducing portion.

[0018] It is preferable that the second side vertical load reduction portion, the third side vertical load reduction portion, and the fourth side vertical load reduction portion are formed in a laminated form of steel plate and rubber.

[0019] In addition, the present invention provides a multi-column structure for reducing vertical seismic loads, including a plurality of columns installed between a lower layer and an upper layer, a vertical load reducing portion installed between the plurality of columns and the lower layer or the plurality of columns and the upper layer, and a plurality of side vertical load reducing portions installed to connect the side surfaces of the plurality of columns and the plurality of columns arranged adjacent to each other, thereby distributing seismic loads acting on the vertical load reducing portions.

[0020] It is preferable that the vertical load reducing members installed on the plurality of pillars are installed in different positions from the pillars arranged adjacent to each other.

[0021] It is preferable that the plurality of side vertical load reducing parts include a lower load reducing part and an upper load reducing part that is positioned above and at a distance from the lower load reducing part.

[0022] It is preferable that the plurality of side vertical load reducing parts are formed by laminating steel plates and rubber.

[0023] The present invention installs a vertical load reduction member at the top or bottom of a column and installs a lateral vertical load reduction member between the column and another adjacent column. Accordingly, the present invention has the effect of increasing safety by distributing a portion of the vertical seismic load acting on the vertical load reduction member to the lateral vertical load reduction member and reducing the vertical seismic load acting on the vertical load reduction member.

[0024] Furthermore, the present invention comprises a structure comprising four columns in one set, thereby forming a stable structure. Accordingly, the present invention distributes the vertical load reduction function to the lateral vertical load reduction section, thereby maintaining the vertical load reduction function even if the load reduction device at a specific location is damaged, thereby providing the effect of sufficiently responding to earthquake loads.

[0025] Furthermore, the present invention, rather than installing the lateral load reduction device by embedding it within the upper or lower foundation as in the past, has a structure in which the lateral vertical load reduction device is installed in an open form between each column, connected to adjacent columns. Therefore, the present invention can reduce the installation cost of the seismic load reduction device. Furthermore, the present invention can facilitate the maintenance of the seismic load reduction device and minimize the space required for the lateral vertical load reduction device to be installed.

[0026] In addition, since it uses a rubber-based seismic load reduction device of a material and type approved by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC), it can satisfy the licensing conditions of the domestic (Korean) nuclear power industry, thereby improving its applicability to nuclear power plants.

In addition, in the embodiment of the present invention, the upper layer (600) is a concept that is arranged with a space above the lower layer (500) and includes the upper foundation, and for the sake of convenience of explanation, it will be used as the upper layer (600).

[0037]

[0038] The first column (100), the second column (200), the third column (300), and the fourth column (400) of the embodiment of the present invention are preferably arranged adjacent to each other as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, forming a seismic load reduction system in which four columns form one set. However, the first column (100), the second column (200), the third column (300), and the fourth column (400) of the embodiment of the present invention may be selected in two or more pieces to form one set depending on the intended use and design thereof.

[0039] The first column (100) has a first vertical load reducing member (150) installed between the upper layer (600) and the first column (100). The second column (200) and the second vertical load reducing member (250) support the load between the lower layer (500) and the upper layer (600). In addition, the second vertical load reducing member (250) can withstand a vertical seismic load. Like the first vertical load reducing member (150), the second vertical load reducing member (250) can use a low-damping rubber made of natural rubber.

[0041] In the embodiment of the present invention, the first vertical load reducing portion (150), the second vertical load reducing portion (250), the third vertical load reducing portion (350), and the fourth vertical load reducing portion (450) have the same configuration, so their detailed description will be replaced with the description of the first vertical load reducing portion (150). That is, the first vertical load reducing portion (150), the second vertical load reducing portion (250), the third vertical load reducing portion (350), and the fourth vertical load reducing portion (450) are made of a lump of pure rubber material, so that they can be freely deformed in all directions, including the vertical and horizontal directions.

[0042] In an embodiment of the present invention, the first vertical load reducing unit (150) is installed between the upper layer (600) and the first column (100), and the second vertical load reducing unit (250, see FIG. 5) installed on the second column (200) adjacent to the first column (100) is installed between the lower layer (500) and the second column (200). That is, it is preferable that the first vertical load reducing unit (150) and the second vertical load reducing unit (250) are installed at different positions relative to the first column (100) and the second column (200) that are adjacent to each other (see FIG. 5).

[0043] A third vertical load reducing member (350) is installed between the upper floor (600) and the third column (100) in the third column (300). The third column (300) and the third vertical load reducing member (350) support the load between the lower floor (500) and the upper floor (600). In addition, the third vertical load reducing member (350) can withstand vertical seismic loads.

[0044] Likewise, a fourth vertical load reducing member (450) is installed between the lower floor (500) and the fourth column (400). The fourth column (400) and the fourth vertical load reducing member (450) support the load between the lower floor (500) and the upper floor (600). In addition, the fourth vertical load reducing member (450) can withstand vertical seismic loads.

[0045] In an embodiment of the present invention, the first vertical load reducing unit (150), the second vertical load reducing unit (250), the third vertical load reducing unit (350), and the fourth vertical load reducing unit (450) are formed as a set of four and can withstand vertical seismic loads.

[0046]

[0047] The first side vertical load reduction unit (120) is installed between the first column (100) and the second column (200) which are arranged adjacent to each other (see Fig. 2). The first side vertical load reduction unit (120) may be composed of a first lower load reduction unit (120a) arranged at the bottom and a first upper load reduction unit (120b) arranged above the first lower load reduction unit (120a). That is, the first lower load reduction unit (120a) and the first upper load reduction unit (120b) may be arranged between the first column (100) and the second column (200) at a certain distance from each other. It is preferable that the first side vertical load reduction unit (120) be formed in a form in which a steel plate and rubber are laminated. It is preferable that the second side vertical load reduction part (230), the third side vertical load reduction part (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction part (410) are installed by combining laminated rubber materials, i.e., plate-shaped rubber and steel plates, in a laminated state, similar to the first side vertical load reduction part (120).

[0048] In other words, the first side vertical load reduction portion (120), the second side vertical load reduction portion (230), the third side vertical load reduction portion (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction portion (410) are arranged in a structure in which plate-shaped rubber and steel plates are laminated between adjacent columns in a direction parallel to the columns (vertical direction, based on FIGS. 3 and 4), thereby restricting movement in the horizontal direction and attenuating vertical seismic loads.

[0049] The second side vertical load reduction unit (230) is installed between the second column (200) and the third column (300) which are arranged adjacent to each other (see Fig. 2). The second side vertical load reduction unit (230) may be composed of a second lower load reduction unit (230a) arranged at the bottom and a second upper load reduction unit (230b) arranged above the second lower load reduction unit (230a). That is, the second lower load reduction unit (230a) and the second upper load reduction unit (230b) may be arranged between the second column (200) and the third column (300) at a certain distance from each other.

[0050] The third side vertical load reduction unit (340) is installed between the third column (300) and the fourth column (400) which are arranged adjacent to each other. The third side vertical load reduction unit (340) may be composed of a third lower load reduction unit (340a) arranged at the bottom and a third upper load reduction unit (340b) arranged above the third lower load reduction unit (340a). That is, the third lower load reduction unit (340a) and the third upper load reduction unit (340b) may be arranged between the third column (300) and the fourth column (400) at a certain distance from each other (see FIG. 1).

[0051] The fourth side vertical load reducing portion (410) is installed between the fourth column (400) and the first column (100), which are arranged adjacent to each other. The fourth side vertical load reducing portion (410) may be composed of a fourth lower load reducing portion (410a) arranged below and a fourth upper load reducing portion (410b) arranged above the fourth lower load reducing portion (410a). That is, the fourth lower load reducing portion (410a) and the fourth upper load reducing portion (410b) may be arranged between the fourth column (400) and the first column (100) at a certain distance from each other (see FIG. 1).

[0052]

[0053] An example of a vertical seismic load acting on a multi-column structure for reducing vertical seismic load of an embodiment of the present invention made in this manner is described in detail as follows.

[0054] When an earthquake occurs, the vertical seismic load acts on the first vertical load reduction unit (150), the second vertical load reduction unit (250), the third vertical load reduction unit (350), and the fourth vertical load reduction unit (450). The first vertical load reduction unit (150), the second vertical load reduction unit (250), the third vertical load reduction unit (350), and the fourth vertical load reduction unit (450) are made of a lump of pure rubber material and can freely deform in all directions, so that the vertical seismic load can be distributed toward the first side vertical load reduction unit (120), the second side vertical load reduction unit (230), the third side vertical load reduction unit (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction unit (410). Then, the vertical seismic load acting on the first vertical load reduction unit (150), the second vertical load reduction unit (250), the third vertical load reduction unit (350), and the fourth vertical load reduction unit (450) is distributed and acts on the first side vertical load reduction unit (120), the second side vertical load reduction unit (230), the third side vertical load reduction unit (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction unit (410).

[0055] The first side vertical load reduction unit (120), the second side vertical load reduction unit (230), the third side vertical load reduction unit (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction unit (410) are formed by laminating plate-shaped rubber and steel plates and are installed between adjacent columns in a direction parallel to the columns to attenuate vertical seismic loads (see Fig. 3).

[0056] Therefore, in the embodiment of the present invention, a seismic load acting in the vertical direction is partially reduced by the first vertical load reduction unit (150), the second vertical load reduction unit (250), the third vertical load reduction unit (350), and the fourth vertical load reduction unit (450), and at the same time, a portion of the load is distributed and reduced by the first side vertical load reduction unit (120), the second side vertical load reduction unit (230), the third side vertical load reduction unit (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction unit (410). Therefore, the influence of the seismic load on the first vertical load reduction unit (150), the second vertical load reduction unit (250), the third vertical load reduction unit (350), and the fourth vertical load reduction unit (450) is minimized, thereby ensuring stability.

[0057] In addition, since the present invention is composed of a seismic load reduction device comprising four columns as a set, even if a specific vertical load reduction part is damaged, the remaining three vertical load reduction parts can sufficiently respond to ensure stability, thereby minimizing tilting due to seismic load.

[0058] In the present invention, the first side vertical load reduction unit (120), the second side vertical load reduction unit (230), the third side vertical load reduction unit (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction unit (410) that are responsible for distributed seismic loads are installed in an open form, thereby reducing construction costs and making maintenance very easy.

[0059] In addition, the first side vertical load reduction unit (120), the second side vertical load reduction unit (230), the third side vertical load reduction unit (340), and the fourth side vertical load reduction unit (410) are installed in a minimal space, so that the usability of the space can be maximized.

[0060] In particular, the present invention can satisfy the conditions for obtaining a license in the nuclear power industry and improve practical applicability by constructing an earthquake load reduction device using materials and types approved by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC).

[0061] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the present invention is not limited thereto, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the claims, the detailed description of the invention, and the attached drawings, and it is obvious that this also falls within the scope of the present invention.
