Description

Learning System

[0001] The present invention relates to a learning system that presents learning materials, and more particularly to a technology that realizes convenience for administrators or learners.

[0002] Conventional wordbooks or vocabulary lists are created in advance in publications or electronic devices based on the learner's language level, and are presented with explanatory translations in the learner's native language. Some of these card formats present the vocabulary in separate pages, one on the front and one on the back, with a text side and an illustration side. Although there are slight differences in the way the vocabulary is presented, the concept of providing explanations in the learner's native language or illustrations for the foreign language vocabulary to be studied is the same in all cases (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

[0003] In recent years, electronic dictionaries have also become widely used as word lists. When a user searches for a word in dictionary data and displays explanatory information including the word and its translation, the history of word searches is saved as a search history. Some electronic dictionaries have a word list function that, when a user selects a word from the list of words saved as the search history, reads explanatory information for the selected word from the dictionary data and displays it in the user's native language (see, for example, Patent Documents 2 and 3).

[0004] Furthermore, in recent years, vocabulary learning applications that can be installed on computers or portable terminals that can connect to servers or other terminals via a network have become popular (see, for example, Patent Document 4).

[0005] Vocabulary learning apps typically either first display the word in question on the screen, then have the user select and tap the correct translation from multiple options displayed on the screen to determine whether it is correct or not, or leave the decision to the user's discretion, by having the user tap "O" if they remember it and "X" if they don't. In either case, the question is displayed on the screen, and the response is in the form of looking at a button on the screen and tapping it.

[0007] In conventional learning systems that present learning materials for words and phrases, such as electronic dictionaries and learning apps, example sentences containing each target word or phrase are often displayed along with the target word or phrase. However, because these example sentences are static, they are often not of interest to learners.

[0008] Here, preparing example sentences tailored to the interests of individual learners was not realistic in the case of a printed vocabulary book, both in terms of the cost of preparing the example sentences and the printing and publishing costs involved. Even with electronic dictionaries and vocabulary learning apps, although there are no printing and publishing costs, preparing example sentences each time is still not realistic in terms of the personnel costs involved on the part of the operators.

[0009] The present invention has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and has as its object to provide a learning system that can provide convenience to the administrators and learners.

[0010] The learning system of the present invention is a learning system that presents learning materials to a learner and allows the learner to study, and is characterized in that the learning materials are generated based on a theme input by the learner.

[0011] In addition, the learning system of the present invention is a learning system that presents learning materials to learners and allows them to study, and is characterized in that it comprises a terminal device that can be used by the learner and a learning material generation means that generates the learning materials based on a theme input by the learner, and the learning materials generated by the learning material generation means are presented to the terminal device.

[0012] Furthermore, the learning material is made up of a part of a language and an example sentence attached thereto, and the learning material generating means generates the example sentence based on a theme input by the learner.

[0013] The present invention aims to provide a learning system that can provide convenience to the administrators and learners.

[0015] [Embodiment] An embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to Figures 1 to 5. This embodiment is a learning system that presents learning materials to a learner and allows the learner to study, and generates the learning materials based on a theme input by the learner.

[0016] <Configuration of the embodiment> Fig. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of a learning system according to an embodiment. Fig. 2 is a flowchart showing an outline of the processing of the learning system according to an embodiment. Fig. 3 is a flowchart showing the learning data generation processing of the learning system according to an embodiment. Fig. 4 is an explanatory diagram showing a theme input page of the learning system according to an embodiment. Fig. 5 is an explanatory diagram showing a language learning page of the learning system according to an embodiment.

[0017] As shown in Figure 1, the learning system 1 according to the embodiment comprises the Internet 2, an application distribution company server 3, a business operator server 4, a telecommunications company 5, a communication antenna 6, and smartphones 7-1, 7-2, ... 7-n for multiple learners.

[0018] The application distribution company server 3 is connected to the Internet 2 and distributes word and phrase learning applications (hereinafter referred to as word and phrase learning apps) based on a contract with the management company that manages the learning system 1 .

[0019] The business operator server 4 is located in a management company that manages the learning system 1, is connected to the Internet 2, and is managed by the management company.

[0020] The communication company 5 is connected to the Internet 2 and communicates with a plurality of learner smartphones 7-1, 7-2, ..., 7-n using a communication antenna 6. Although not shown, it is also possible to connect the smartphones 7-1, 7-2, ..., 7-n to the Internet 2 via a wired connection (such as optical fiber) and a Wi-Fi device, rather than via a mobile network using the communication company 5 and the communication antenna 6.

[0021] <Overview of Processing in Learning System> Below, an overview of processing in the learning system 1 will be explained using the smartphone 7-1 for the first learner.

[0022] A word and phrase learning application has been downloaded in advance from the application distribution company server 3 onto the smartphone 7-1 for the first learner, and account registration processing with the business server 4 has been completed.

[0023] When the first learner is to study a language, he or she first taps the icon of a word and phrase learning app displayed on the screen of the smartphone 7-1.

[0024] By this tap, as shown in FIG. 2, the smartphone 7-1 starts up the word and phrase learning application in step S1 and accesses the business server 4.

[0025] As a result, in step S2, the business server 4 performs a login process and transmits the data of the theme input page to the smartphone 7-1. Note that, as a method of transmitting the data of the theme input page to the smartphone 7-1, it is also possible to include the data of the theme input page in the word and phrase learning app when the app is downloaded.

[0026] When the smartphone 7-1 receives the data for the theme input page, in step S3, it creates a theme input page from the received data for the theme input page, stores it in RAM, and displays the theme input page 12 on the screen 11 of the smartphone 7-1 shown in Figure 4.

[0027] In FIG. 4, the smartphone 7-1 is configured such that, for example, the housing 10 is held by the learner's left hand and the screen 11 is operated by the learner's right hand.

[0028] The theme input page 12 displayed on the screen 11 has, from top to bottom, an image 13 of the text of the app name "Language Learning ABC," an image 14 of the text of the instruction for use "Please enter your favorite theme," an image 15 of an arrow, an input field 16 for your favorite theme, a send button 17, and a keyboard 18.

[0029] The learner uses the keyboard 18 to input a favorite theme (e.g., "Manga One Ace") into the favorite theme input field 16 and taps the send button 17. As a result, the smartphone 7-1 performs a theme input process in step S4, as shown in FIG. 2, and transmits the input favorite theme data to the business server 4 in step S5.

[0030] When the business entity server 4 receives the data on the favorite theme, in step S6, it generates language learning data from the received data on the favorite theme, and in step S7, it transmits the generated language learning data to the smartphone 7-1.

[0031] When the smartphone 7-1 receives the language learning data in step S8, it creates a language learning page list from the received language learning data, stores the list in RAM, and proceeds to language learning operation processing in step S9.

[0032] In the language learning operation process of step S9, the smartphone 7-1 reads out a language learning page selected from the language learning page list in order, by lottery, or the like, and displays the language learning page 21 shown in FIG.

[0033] Next, the language learning data generation process in step S6 shown in FIG. 2 will be described in detail with reference to FIG.

[0034] In the language learning data generation process shown in Figure 3, first, in step S11, data on a favorite theme is received from smartphone 7-1, and in step S12, generative AI is used to analyze the received data on the favorite theme (e.g., "Manga One Ace"). In step S13, generative AI is used to collect terms related to the favorite theme data (e.g., Saburo, Kenta, magic, robot) using an Internet search function, etc., and creates example sentences associated with each word and phrase using the terms related to the favorite theme data. In step S14, multiple language learning pages are generated using each word, phrase, and the example sentences associated with them, after which the current process ends and the process proceeds to step S7 shown in Figure 2.

[0035] As shown in Figure 5, the language learning page 22 displayed on the screen 11 of the smartphone 7-1 displays, from top to bottom, an image 23 of the letters of the app name "Language Learning ABC," a list of learning words 24, a list of meanings 25, a first example sentence list 26, a second example sentence list 27, and a next button 28.

[0036] The word "get" is displayed in the learning word display list 24. The meaning display list 25 displays the meaning of the word "get" in Japanese.

[0037] The first example sentence list 25 displays a first example sentence for the word "get" in English, "Sabro gets magic across to people." and its Japanese translation, "Sabro spreads magic to the people of the world." The first example sentence is generated using terms (e.g., Sabro, magic) related to the data on the favorite theme collected in step S13.

[0038] The second example sentence list 25 displays a second example sentence in English for the word "get," which is "Kenta gets a robot all to himself." and its Japanese translation is "Kenta gets his own personal robot." The second example sentence is generated using terms (e.g., Kenta, robot) related to the favorite theme data collected in step S13.

[0039] When the learner has finished learning the word "get" and wishes to move on to learning the next word, he or she taps the next button 27. This causes the language learning page for the next word to be displayed on the screen 11 of the smartphone 7-1.

[0040] In the above description of this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 5, the language learning page 22 displayed on the screen 11 of the smartphone 7-1 displays the word "get" in the learning word display list 24 as part of the language to be learned, but various words, phrases, and basic sentence structures other than "get" can also be applied as part of the language to be learned.

[0041] In this embodiment, the learning system 1 allows the user to input a topic of interest, and uses generative AI to generate example sentences related to that topic for each word, phrase, and basic syntactic pattern. By displaying and presenting these as questions, it is possible to resolve issues such as conventional example sentences not matching the learner's interests and the cost of preparing example sentences. For example, if a user likes the manga "One Ace," they can enter "Manga One Ace" in the topic input field. The generative AI then generates a group of example sentences based on the story and characters of One Ace, which are then annotated and displayed when each word, phrase, and basic syntactic pattern is studied. In this case, the display method is not limited to visual display, and auditory display, such as reading aloud, is also possible.

[0042] Furthermore, by allowing for more abstract specifications such as current news, science, the vocabulary currently being studied, or the vocabulary already studied, in addition to specific themes as mentioned above, it is possible to present the user with a wider range of example sentences that will not become boring, or to limit the number of words currently being studied to a minimum number of example sentences, thereby improving learning efficiency.

[0043] Furthermore, by optionally specifying the detailed situations that should be reflected in the example sentences, it is possible to generate example sentences that will more arouse the user's interest. For example, conditions can be specified such as "the example sentences must develop into humorous stories of failure" or "the example sentences must always include the word 'poop'."

[0044] These themes and options can be specified not only by entering text, but also by presenting a menu with a list of popular themes and frequently used options so that users can simply select from them, or by applying them as default when the app itself or a specific mode is launched.

[0045] Furthermore, as an additional function, by generating and presenting images, videos, audio or links to them according to the generated example sentences, users can stimulate their interest in learning and retain the information through audiovisual experiences. This does not simply include elements of the example sentences, but also includes having the generative AI generate voice quality and tone that change depending on the scene of the example sentence. This makes it possible to provide learning content that is more immersive and memorable.

[0046] Furthermore, the mechanisms necessary to achieve these include a list of words, phrases, and basic syntax; an input field where users can enter topics of interest and additional conditions; a program mechanism that conveys the input information, words, phrases, basic syntax, and example sentence generation rules (short, simple words and syntax, must include XX, etc.) to the generative AI and instructs and controls the creation of example sentences (supervising by formatting responses or instructing regeneration if conditions are not met); storage that holds example sentences obtained from the generative AI; and a program and display device that displays them as needed.

[0047] Furthermore, when a theme is specified, it is possible to set up a mechanism to determine whether it is equivalent or similar to previous instructions given by the user or other users. If it is equivalent or similar, it is possible to reduce the operational burden and cost of the generative AI by using a cache of past products (example sentences, images, links).

[0048] <Summary of the configuration and function of an embodiment of the present invention> Below, we will summarize the configuration and function of an embodiment of the present invention. Learning system 1 is a learning system that presents learning materials to learners and allows them to study, and generates the learning materials (example sentences) based on themes input by the learners.

[0049] Furthermore, the learning system 1 of the present invention is a learning system that presents learning materials to learners and allows them to study, and is equipped with a terminal device (smartphones 7-1, 7-2, ... 7-n) that can be used by the learners, and a learning material generation means (language learning data generation processing function of step S6 using generative AI) that generates the learning materials based on a theme input by the learners, and presents the learning materials generated by the learning material generation means to the terminal device.

[0050] Furthermore, in the learning system 1 of the present invention, the learning material consists of a part of a language and an example sentence attached thereto, and the learning material generating means generates the example sentence based on a theme input by the learner.

[0051] According to the learning system 1 configured in this way, by generating learning materials (example sentences) based on themes input by the learner, it is possible to resolve issues such as conventional learning materials (example sentences) not matching the learner's interests and the cost involved in preparing learning materials (example sentences), thereby providing convenience to both the administrators and the learners.

[0052] Although the description of the specific embodiment has been completed above, aspects of the present invention are not limited to these. For example, in this embodiment, example sentences for language learning are generated as learning materials to be presented to learners, but various learning materials can be applied, such as explanatory texts, semantic displays, icons, background images, etc.
