Advantageously, if one of the panels is damaged, the damaged panel can be easily replaced without needing to replace all the other panels in a section.

[0072] With reference to FIG. 7, a panel 210, similar to the panel 22A, is illustrated with differences described herein. In some embodiments, the panel () is made of extruded aluminum, and assembled together to form a barrier, fence, wall, or other similar structure. The panel 210 includes a first wall 211, a second wall 212, and a third wall 213 positioned opposite the first wall 211. In the illustrated embodiment, the second wall 212 includes a first portion 224, a second portion 228, and a transition portion 232 between the first portion 224 and the second portion 228. The panel 210 further includes a fourth wall 214, a fifth wall 215, and a sixth wall 216 positioned opposite the fourth wall 214. In the illustrated embodiment, the panel 210 includes a first corner 236 that is beveled and connects the sixth wall 216 and the fifth wall 215. In the illustrated embodiment, the panel 210 includes a second comer 240 that is beveled and connects the fifth wall 215 and the fourth wall 214.

[0073] In the illustrated embodiment, the panel 210 includes a cavity 244 with a first cavity portion 248 at least partially defined by the first wall 211, the second wall 212, and the third wall 213, and a second cavity portion 252 at least partially defined by the fourth wall 214, the fifth wall 215, and the sixth wall 216. In other words, the panel 210 is hollow and configured to receive at least one insert. Advantageously, the first cavity portion 248 is offset from the second cavity portion 252 along a first axis 256 and a second axis 260 orthogonal to the first axis 256. In other words, the second cavity portion 252 is laterally and vertically offset from the first cavity portion 248 as viewed from the perspective of FIG. 7. As detailed herein, the first cavity portion 248 is configured to receive a first insert 264, and the second cavity portion 252 is configured to receive a second insert 268. In some embodiments, each of the inserts consist of a plurality of layers of material. In some embodiments, each of the inserts consists of different layers of different materials. In the illustrated embodiment, the panel 210 further includes a first internal rib 272 extending into the cavity 244 and a second internal rib 276 extending into the cavity 244. In the illustrated embodiment, the first internal rib 272 is aligned with the second internal rib 276. In some embodiments, the internal ribs 272, 276 are positioned between thefirst cavity portion 248 and the second cavity portion 252 to separate and support the first insert 264 and the second insert 268.

[0074] With continued reference to FIG. 7, the panel 210 further includes a seventh wall 217 extending between the third wall 213 and the sixth wall 216, and an eighth wall 218 extending between the first wall 211 and the fourth wall 214. The panel 210 further includes a rib 280 that extends from the first wall 211, and a groove 284 is at least partially formed by the rib 280, the first wall 211, and the eighth wall 218. In the illustrated embodiment, an end 288 of the rib 280 is beveled. In the illustrated embodiment, the rib 280 includes a rib surface 292 that is co-planar with a first surface 296 of the second wall 212. The panel 210 further includes a protrusion 300 formed by the second wall 212, the third wall 213, and the seventh wall 217. Like the assembly of the panels 22A, 22B, 22C (FIG. 3), the protrusion 300 of one panel 210 is received within the groove 284 on an adjacent panel 210. As such, a first width dimension 304 of the protrusion 300 is smaller than a corresponding second width dimension 308 of the groove 284.

[0075] Advantageously, the second insert 268 is offset from the first insert 264 in two orthogonal directions (e.g., vertically and laterally) such that there is no insert seam created by adjoining panels. In other words, when two panels 210 are connected together as described herein, there is no trajectory along the lateral axis (e.g., along the first axis 256) through the panels 210 does not pass through at least one insert. Whereas, when two of the panels 22 (e.g., 22A, 22B, 22C, FIG. 3) are connected together as described herein, there is a trajectory along the lateral axis through the panels that does not pass through at least one insert. For example, at the interface between the groove 54 of one panel and the protrusion 58 (FIG. 3) on an adjacent panel, there is no portion of an insert in the lateral direction. The panel 210 advantageously eliminates the risk that a projectile could impact at an interface between adjacent panels that does not have insert material in the lateral direction for reinforcement.
