In addition, the declared device provides high security and reliability of the screen due to the design of the body elements. Also, the declared technical solution allows you to change the screen size for specific scenarios of using such a device. In addition, such a device should provide the ability to change the screen size while maintaining the compact form factor of the device when folded condition. The real advantages of the claimed technical solution will become apparent from the detailed description disclosed below.

[0035] Fig. 1 shows a general view of the display device 100. The said device 100 is intended for displaying data and is a computing device. The said device 100 can be used as a portable device for displaying content, a mobile device, a tablet, etc. The device 100 comprises a housing 110, sliding sections 120, a flexible elastic screen 130, a computing unit 160, a sliding mechanism 140, longitudinal rollers 150, a power source 170.

[0036] The elements of the claimed device 100 are fixed to each other and to the supporting elements of the structure using a wide range of assembly operations, such as screwing, joining, soldering, riveting, etc., depending on the most suitable method of fastening the elements.

[0037] In one particular embodiment, device 100 is intended for displaying multimedia content and is a portable electronic computing multimedia device (pocket PC) with a flexible touch screen of a roll type. The features of said device 100 are the ability to change the size of the screen area due to the structural implementation of said device 100. Thus, device 100 provides the ability to display content in a variety of positions due to the cylindrical design of device 100, which provides for the extension of screen 130 to the required size, for example, depending on the surrounding space. In addition, device 100 provides the ability to change the size of the display area of screen 130 due to the sliding cylindrical design. That is, device 100 has the ability to change both the vertical and horizontal display area.

[0038] The housing 110 is a single cylindrical structure with at least two sliding sections 120. Thus, in one particular embodiment, the housing 110 contains a fixed central element, on which two sliding sections 120 are fixed. Inside the housing, the following elements of the device 100 are located: a flexible elastic screen 130, a computing unit 160, a sliding mechanism 140, longitudinal rollers 150, a power source 170. The housing 110 can be made of metal, carbon, plastic and other hard materials, without being limited.

[0039] The housing 110 has a longitudinal cutout for moving the screen 130 into / from said housing 110. Thus, in one particular embodiment, the longitudinal cutout is located on the end of the housing 110. In another particular embodiment, the sliding sections 120 are fixed to the housing 110 over the casing. The elements 120 are fixed to the housing by means of an internal through tongue-and-groove joint. The inner part of the housing 110 (casing) may contain locking elements intended to limit the movement of the sliding sections 120. In another particular embodiment, the movement of the sections 120 is caused by the stroke of the mechanism 140.

[0040] At least two sliding sections 120 are cylindrical sections made, for example, of metal, carbon, plastic, etc., without limitation, with longitudinal slots through which the screen 130 is extended / folded (moved). As indicated above, sections 120 are fixed on the housing 110 by means of an internal through tongue and groove joint. Sections 120 are made with the possibility of moving along the housing 110, providing a change in the height of the device. It is worth noting that sections 120 are fixed to rotation and are made with the possibility of moving only along the central part of the PO housing. The slots of the sections 120 are located on the same line with the slots of the PO housing, forming a single slot for extending / folding the screen 130. In one particular embodiment, the sections 120 and the PO housing form the outer part of the device 100. In another particular embodiment, the sections 120 move along the PO housing by means of a mechanism 140.In this case, the PO body itself is not directly connected to sections 120, but is connected only to mechanism 140 and has a gap that allows sections 120 to slide along the body.

[0041] The flexible elastic screen 130 is a flexible touch expandable screen. Said screen 130 can be implemented on a highly elastic film substrate made of silicon used in contact lenses, providing the ability to change (stretch) the dimensions of said screen 130. In another particular embodiment, elastic displays from Samsung® and LG® can be used, or flexible stretchable screens manufactured using the technology disclosed, for example, in US Patent No. US 11348990 B2, published 05 / 31 / 2022.

[0042] The said screen 130 is designed with the possibility of changing its longitudinal size, and, consequently, the display area. Thus, for example, under the action of an external force, for example, a change in the positions of sections 120, the screen 130 can switch from the first state to the second state, for example, by receiving a control signal from the unit 160. The unit 160, accordingly, can receive a signal about the change in position by means of a sensor, such as a pressure sensor. In another particular embodiment, the change in height (size of the device) is carried out by means of a servo drive, located, for example, inside the casing of the device 100. The screen 130 can include at least one expandable display area, which can expand from the main display area in at least one of the directions: up, down, left and right.According to another embodiment, the screen 130 can be configured as a touch screen that detects touch and / or contactless input (or cursor pointing) using a part of the user's body (e.g., a finger) or an input device (e.g., a stylus). In another particular embodiment, a locking element made of deformable materials, such as rubber, silicone, etc., is contained at the extendable end of the screen (the side of the screen to which an external mechanical action is applied to unroll / twist the screen).

[0043] The sliding mechanism 140 is located under the housing 110 and has a connection with the sections 120. The mechanism 140 has a cylindrical shape. Guide elements are located on the mechanism 140, ensuring the movement of the said sections 120 along the housing 110. The sections 120 can be connected to the mechanism 140, for example, by means of an articulation. The guide elements can be longitudinal beams, for example, metal beams, etc., which form a tongue-and-groove connection with the sections 120. In one particular embodiment, the guide elements are located along the end walls of the mechanism 140. The end part of the mechanism 140 is the part coinciding with the plane of extension / folding of the screen 130 and / or the opposite part.

[0044] The mechanism 140 also comprises a transverse roller located in the central part. The said roller is connected by guide elements and is intended to move the sections 120 along the mechanism 140. In one particular embodiment, the mechanism 140 also comprises a servo drive, designed to fix the height of the device 100, as well as to perform the extension, folding and holding of sections 120 from involuntary sliding / sliding.

[0045] The longitudinal rollers 150 are shafts connected to one end of the screen 130. In turn, the shafts are connected by end members to sections 120 in such a way that when section 120 moves, the shaft repeats the movement of the said section. In one particular embodiment, the shaft is located on the end member of the fastening by means of an axial pin. Due to such a connection, the shaft can rotate around its axis when section 120 is stationary. Let us consider in more detail the principle of placement and fastening of the said rollers 150. Thus, in the first (folded) position, the length of the rollers 150 coincides with the first length of the screen 130. In this position, the rollers 150 are located inside the mechanism 140, and, for example, adjoin the transverse roller inside the said mechanism. To ensure the possibility of extending / folding the screen 130, the rollers 150 are connected to the sections 120 by means of an end connection and have a gap in the longitudinal direction of the device 100. When the sections 120 are extended, i.e.increasing the longitudinal dimensions of the device 100 (unfolded position), and, consequently, the dimensions of the screen 130, the rollers 150 partially or completely move out of the mechanism 140, thereby stretching the screen 130, secured between the said rollers 150. As indicated above, the change in the length of the device 100 can be carried out by means of mechanical action on the sections 120, on which, in turn, the said rollers 150 are secured.

[0046] The computing unit 160 and the power source 170 are placed inside the longitudinal rollers 150 respectively in such a way that they repeat all movements and rotations of the longitudinal rollers, depending on the change in the positions of the sections 120 and the extension / retraction (movement) of the screen 130.

[0047] Let us consider in more detail the operating principle of the said mechanism. Fig. 5 shows an exploded diagram of a variant of the device 100.

[0048] Thus, as indicated above, the change in the longitudinal size of the device 100 (its extension) can be performed both by means of a servo drive and by applying external forces. Thus, in one particular embodiment, the user can change the height of the housing 100, i.e. move the sections 120 along the housing 110 using a button located, for example, on the end casing. In this case, the servo drive begins to rotate in the mechanism 140, which sets in motion the pushers, which are connected to the longitudinal rollers 150. The longitudinal rollers, in turn, are connected to the sections 120 at the ends, for example, by pins, and begin to move in opposite directions, along the longitudinal axis of the PO housing and pull the sections 120 behind them, thereby increasing the overall length of the device. As indicated above, the amount by which the sections 120 can be extended can be limited by the travel of the guides of the mechanism 140. In another particular embodiment, the sections 120 can be partially extended. Thus, for example, the servo drive can have several positions, characterized by different sizes of the area of the screen 130. That is, the screen 130, by changing the position of the sections 120, can stretch in the longitudinal direction in different sizes, i.e. can be stretched, for example, by 3 cm, 5 cm, etc., up to the maximum travel of the guides. It is worth noting that the maximum travel of the guides depends on the achievable deformation of the elastic screen 130.

[0049] At the same time, the computing unit 160, receiving information about the change in the length of the housing 100 using the sensor, transmits a control signal to the flexible screen, which is wound in the form of a roll on the mechanism 140 about the change in the displayed area of the screen 130. The screen 130, accordingly, changes its size (height), by the length of the change in the position of the sections 120. Thus, after changing the position of the sections 120 from the first position to the second position, the computing unit 160 determines the current size of the display area to adjust the resolution of the screen 130.

[0050] After this, the user pulls the screen by the edge with his hand, the mechanism 140 and the longitudinal rollers 150 connected to it, on which the screen 130 is wound, begin to rotate, thereby unwinding the flexible screen to the required length. In this case, the body 110 and the sections 120 are motionless and fixed to each other by a tongue-and-groove joint, which also forms a common slot through which the flexible screen 130 is pulled out. After the user finishes pulling the screen, the mechanism 140 slows down its rotation and fixes itself and the longitudinal rollers 120 motionless.

[0051] The computing unit 160 may represent a controller, a microcontroller, a processor, etc. In one particular embodiment, the computing unit 160 may represent the device 600 disclosed in more detail in Fig. 6. Block 160 is designed to control at least one other component (e.g., a hardware or software component) of the electronic device 100 and can perform various types of data processing and / or calculations. In one particular embodiment, block 160 can control the touch screen 130, for example, by processing commands received from touches on the screen 130. Block 160 can include a main processor (e.g., a central processing unit (CPU), an auxiliary processor (e.g., a graphic processing unit (GPU), a neural processing unit (NPU). In addition, in another particular embodiment, the computing unit 160 can be connected to such elements of the device 100 as input / output devices such as a microphone, a speaker, etc.

[0052] The power source 170 may be a removable battery, accumulator, etc. In one particular embodiment, the power may come from both a wired electrical connection and an internal power source installed in the device 100. In one embodiment, the device 100 further comprises contacts for connecting to a charging station. In addition, the source 170 may comprise and / or be connected to a power management module. According to another embodiment, the power management module may be implemented at least as a part of, for example, a power management integrated circuit (PMIC). The source 170 may provide power to at least one component of the electronic device 100. According to another embodiment, the source 170 may include, for example, a primary cell that is not rechargeable, a secondary cell that is rechargeable, or a fuel cell.

[0053] Next, we will consider the operating scenario of device 100. The specified scenario will be considered with references to Fig. 2-4 for a more complete disclosure of the advantages of the claimed solution.

[0054] As stated above, the device 100 discloses a new approach to the design of display devices, such as multimedia devices, providing the ability to change the size of the displayed area of the screen 130 depending on the applied user scenario. In addition, such a device ensures high safety of the screen surface and prevents damage to the screen during transportation of the device 100 in the folded state due to the placement of the screen 130 inside the housing 110. That is, such The design of the device 100 ensures protection of the screen from damage when folded.

[0055] Let's consider several scenarios for using device 100.

[0056] The device 100 can be used in a first position for displaying information. The first position is a folded position disclosed in Fig. 2. The folded position has a first height of the device L1. In this position, the sections 120 are shifted toward the central part of the housing 110.

[0057] To turn on the device 100, the user can interact with the power button located on the end part of the housing 110. As indicated above, the screen 130 is connected at one end to the rollers 150, and at the other end is connected to a bar representing the frame of the screen. The said bar can be made of plastic materials, such as rubber, synthetic materials, etc. In another particular embodiment, the bar can be a telescopic bar, made with the possibility of unfolding / folding, for example, by means of a spring mechanism.

[0058] In the folded state, the bar (screen fixation element) of the screen 130 projects relative to the PO housing and adjoins the slots in the sections 120 and the PO housing. Accordingly, the screen 130 in the folded position is wound on rollers 150 inside the PO housing, i.e., the said rollers 150 represent a rotating drum, to which the flexible stretchable screen 130 is connected and, accordingly, is wound on it. In another particular embodiment, the rollers 150 have a locking mechanism, which can be, for example, a reverse stop, a ratchet mechanism, etc. The said locking mechanism can be implemented in the form of a toothed wheel and a pawl, which is pressed against the wheel by a spring or its own weight. Accordingly, such a design provides the ability to extend the screen to a plurality of positions. I.e., in one particular embodiment, the screen can be extended by half of its full size, 1 / 4, 1 / 3, etc.Obviously, the number of positions is determined by the step of the mechanism.

[0059] In order to move the screen 130 (to extend said screen 130), the user must apply mechanical force to said bar. When extending the screen 130, the rollers 150, fixed on the axial pins, rotate, thereby unwinding the screen 130. As indicated above, depending on the required size of the screen 130, i.e. its current extended position, the computing unit 160 determines the current size of the screen 130, for example, based on the number of screen extension cycles. Accordingly, depending on the current screen size, the computing unit adapts the displayed image to the current screen size 130.

[0060] Now let us consider the scenario of using the device 100 in the unfolded position, disclosed in Fig. 3.

[0061] The unfolded position of the device 100 is the position in which the height of the device 100 is the second height L2, wherein the height L2 is greater than the height L1 in the folded position. That is, the sections 120 in the unfolded position are moved apart relative to the folded position.

[0062] To change the height of the device 100, the user can extend the sections 120, for example, by means of a servo drive and / or mechanical action on the said sections 120. As indicated above, the movement of the sections 120 is carried out by means of a sliding mechanism 140, which is connected to the said sections 120. To move the sections along the body 110, guide elements located in the mechanism 140 are used. The sections 120 are connected to the mechanism 140 by means of horizontal pushers, which in turn fit tightly against the servo drive. The servo drive directs the pusher bars inward or outward by rotation, along the longitudinal axis of the device 100, thereby attracting the sections 120 or pushing them away, changing the height of the device 100. When the sections 120 move along the said guide elements, the longitudinal rollers 150, connected to the sections 150, also move, thereby stretching the screen 130.Thus, in one particular embodiment, the process of changing the size of the device is carried out with the screen 130 folded.

[0063] After the device 100 has taken the second position, the computing unit 160 can adapt the displayed information to the current size of the screen 130. To move the screen 130 (to extend said screen 130), the user also needs to apply mechanical force to the bar. When extending the screen 130, the rollers 150, fixed on the axial pins, rotate, thereby unwinding the screen 130.

[0064] Fig. 4 shows another embodiment of the device 100.

[0065] The specified variant structurally repeats the example described above, with the exception of the design of the 110 housing.

[0066] Thus, in the specified embodiment, sections 120 in the folded position are adjacent to each other at the end, and the central element of the body 110 is located under the specified sections 120.

[0067] Thus, the said application materials disclose a display device with a flexible elastic roll-type screen, providing the ability to change the screen size for specific usage scenarios of the said device.

[0068] Fig. 6 shows an example of a general view of a computing device 600 that provides for the implementation of or is part of elements of the device 100, for example, a computing unit 160, etc.

[0069] In general, the device 600 comprises components such as: one or more processors 601, at least one memory 602, a data storage means 603, input / output interfaces 604, I / O facility 605, network communication facility 606, which are connected via a universal bus.

[0074] The choice of interfaces 604 depends on the specific design of device 100, which can be implemented on the basis of a wide range of devices, for example, as a personal computer, mainframe, laptop, smartphone, etc.
