Systems and Methods for Portable Audio Synthesis

InactiveUS20080156178A1Create efficientlyEfficiently stored and/processedGearworksMusical toysAudio synthesisDisplay device
Systems and methods for creating, modifying, interacting with and playing music are provided, particularly systems and methods employing a top-down process, where the user is provided with a musical composition that may be modified and interacted with and played and/or stored (for later play). The system preferably is provided in a handheld form factor, and a graphical display is provided to display status information, graphical representations of musical lanes or components which preferably vary in shape as musical parameters and the like are changed for particular instruments or musical components such as a microphone input or audio samples. An interactive auto-composition process preferably is utilized that employs musical rules and preferably a pseudo random number generator, which may also incorporate randomness introduced by timing of user input or the like, the user may then quickly begin creating desirable music in accordance with one or a variety of musical styles, with the user modifying the auto-composed (or previously created) musical composition, either for a real time performance and/or for storing and subsequent playback. In addition, an analysis process flow is described for using pre-existing music as input(s) to an algorithm to derive music rules that may be used as part of a music style in a subsequent auto-composition process. In addition, the present invention makes use of node-based music generation as part of a system and method to broadcast and receive music data files, which are then used to generate and play music. By incorporating the music generation process into a node-subscriber unit, the bandwidth-intensive systems of conventional techniques can be avoided. Consequently, the bandwidth can preferably be also used of additional features such as node-to-node and node to base music data transmission. The present invention is characterized by the broadcast of relatively small data files that contain various parameters sufficient to describe the music to the node/subscriber music generator. In addition, problems associated with audio synthesis in a portable environment are addressed in the present invention by providing systems and methods for performing audio synthesis in a manner that simplifies design requirements and/or minimizes cost, while still providing quality audio synthesis features targeted for a portable system (e.g., portable telephone). In addition, problems associated with the tradeoff between overall sound quality and memory requirements in a MIDI sound bank are addressed in the present invention by providing systems and methods for a reduced memory size footprint MIDI sound bank.

Total flexibility of predicted fetching of multiple sectors from an aligned instruction cache for instruction execution

Each of plural rows in an aligned Instruction cache (AIC) contains a plurality of aligned sectors, each sector having space for a block of sequentially-addressed instructions in an executing program. A "fetch history table" (FHT) contains FHT sets of FHT entries for specifying execution sequences of the sectors in associated AIC rows. Each FHT entry in a FHT set specifies an AIC row and a sector sequence arrangement to be outputted from that row. In this manner, each FHT entry can associate itself with any row in the AIC and is capable of specifying any output order among the sectors in its associated row. Unique fields are selected in each instruction address for locating an associated FHT set, and for associating the instruction address with an AIC sector through a unique "sector distribution table" (SDT) to locate the sector which starts with the instruction having this instruction address. A program is executed using "FHT cycles", in which each FHT cycle uses a predicted instruction address and a prediction vector, both being matched with the FHT entries in the located FHT set. A FHT hit occurs if a match is found for a valid FHT entry. A hit FHT entry is used to control outgating for execution of a plurality of AIC sectors in the associated AIC row without branch instruction overhead. A FHT miss occurs when no hit FHT entry is found in a FHT cycle, and a new FHT entry is generated during the FHT cycle using conventional branch instruction execution until the new FHT entry is completed. During the FHT entry generation process, the SDT is Pused to locate AIC sectors to be specified in the sector sequence for the current FHT entry being generated during a FHT miss cycle.

Movable arm potential energy recovery method and apparatus of hydraulic excavator

The invention discloses a method for recovering potential energy of a movable arm of a hydraulic digging machine and a device thereof. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, the potential energy is stored through an energy accumulator in the retraction process of a hydraulic cylinder; and secondly the stored energy in the energy accumulator drives a generator to generate electricity, thereby realizing the recovery of the potential energy of the movable arm of the hydraulic digging machine. A mode for storing the potential energy is to convert the potential energy into pressure energy. The energy accumulator and the generator are connected through a proportioning valve so as to control the rotational speed of the generator. The method realizes high-efficiency recovery of the potential energy of the movable arm of the hydraulic digging machine; the principle of the method is to skillfully change the working time of hydraulic oil for power generation through the function of energy storage of the energy accumulator and provide effective buffering for recovering the potential energy; in addition, through the throttling control of the proportioning valve, the method reduces pressure fluctuation of the hydraulic oil in the power generation process, realizes the adjustment of the working rotational speed of the generator, improves the working efficiency of the generator and further improves the efficiency of energy recovery.
