System and method for providing a game of chance via a client device

A method and apparatus that collects demographics from contestants using ubiquitous Internet devices or a new slot machine on a casino floor. Contestants are given the opportunity to earn points that they can redeem for various prizes that are of interest to them. A plurality of prizes can be selected from a plurality of categories. As the contestants play games of chance, a pool of advertisements is presented to the contestants. Advertisements from the pool are selected in accordance with each contestants buying propensity. As contestants play games of chance, the system infers additional propensities of each user and stores this for later reduction. The reduced data is then sold as marketing data together with a list of system users that comprises name, address, phone number and e-mail addresses and the like. The system is implemented using a client-server paradigm. A server maintains databases needed to track all of the contestants that register with the system. The client devices, including the new slot machine, use a standard web browser as a means to retrieve and display web pages to the contestant. Most web pages have an attached java-script program that implements the functionality of the present invention. Other web pages that contestants encounter comprise a shell for a Java applet that embodies a game of chance. The Java applet that implement games of chance are universal in distribution relying on the web browser to homogenize the user interface across a wide range of hardware platforms. The ubiquitous Internet devices and slot machine are connected to the games either through a wired or wireless network.

This invention deals with the next generation improvements in recommendation systems. Retailers want to grow their business and increase sales. One embodiment displays recommendations for inside sales during calls to prospects via a CRM. Another embodiment improves genomic cross-sell by summing correlations between attributes. A third embodiment improves cross-channel personalization by linking personal information, preferably via a one-way hash, to a unique customer ID. A fourth embodiment enables a common core mobile app for different retailers. A fifth embodiment identifies a shopper before purchase to provide personal recommendations while shopping. Through adoption of the similarity matrix, the attribute information of the access user and recent different click and consumption behaviors to the articles, intention prediction is carried out on user access; and therefore, the articles suitable for the user are determined and recommended to the user. Compared with the mode of carrying out recommendation through prediction of the click-through-rate scores of the user to the articles based on a linear model, the method and the device have the advantages of improving individuation of the recommendation results and improving the accuracy of the recommendation results.

Systems and methods for secure management of presence information for communication services

Systems and methods are provided for managing user information comprising presence information, wherein authentication of requesting parties is based on public-private key pair encryption and key Domain Name Service (kDNS) infrastructure. Thus, a response to a request for presence information may be dependent on the authentication status of the requesting party. Presence information stored on a presence server or other network element may be stored or updated upon receiving a request from a user which includes the requestors identify, and is signed with the private key of the requestor. After authentication of a user having a registered unique identifier and an associated public key, presence information may be stored or updated, in either encrypted or unencrypted form. Presence information is preferably stored with user specified policy information for managing access to the presence information by other users, e.g. what information may be shared with anonymous or unauthenticated other users, or with other specific authorized users, or authorized user groups. Advantageously, all communications between communication parties and network elements of the system are encrypted. A scalable and distributed system and method is provided for managing exchange of dynamic information, such as presence information, between users of communications and network services, with improved reliability, security, and personalization. Systems and methods are particularly applicable for securely managing exchange of presence information and other information for multiparty communications service and for peer-to-peer network services.
