System and method for providing a game of chance via a client device

A method and apparatus that collects demographics from contestants using ubiquitous Internet devices or a new slot machine on a casino floor. Contestants are given the opportunity to earn points that they can redeem for various prizes that are of interest to them. A plurality of prizes can be selected from a plurality of categories. As the contestants play games of chance, a pool of advertisements is presented to the contestants. Advertisements from the pool are selected in accordance with each contestants buying propensity. As contestants play games of chance, the system infers additional propensities of each user and stores this for later reduction. The reduced data is then sold as marketing data together with a list of system users that comprises name, address, phone number and e-mail addresses and the like. The system is implemented using a client-server paradigm. A server maintains databases needed to track all of the contestants that register with the system. The client devices, including the new slot machine, use a standard web browser as a means to retrieve and display web pages to the contestant. Most web pages have an attached java-script program that implements the functionality of the present invention. Other web pages that contestants encounter comprise a shell for a Java applet that embodies a game of chance. The Java applet that implement games of chance are universal in distribution relying on the web browser to homogenize the user interface across a wide range of hardware platforms. The ubiquitous Internet devices and slot machine are connected to the games either through a wired or wireless network.

Force feedback device for simulating combat

A method and apparatus for providing force feedback to a user operating a human/computer interface device and interacting with a computer-generated simulation. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method simulates the interaction of simulated objects displayed to a user who controls one of the simulated objects manipulating a physical object of an interface device. The position of the simulated object, as provided within the simulation and as displayed, is mapped directly to the physical position of the user object. This mapping is broken under conditions that are effective to provide force feedback to the user which imparts a physical sensation corresponding to the interaction of the simulated objects. In another aspect, hand-to-hand combat is simulated wherein a user controls a simulated object by manipulating a physical object, such a sword hilt, to allow the user to utilize a wide range of physical skill and dexterity in interacting with the simulation. In another aspect, a simulation apparatus provides a display device such as one or more display screens or a projection device, and which also provides an intuitive mechanical interface device for the user to skillfully and dexterously manipulate objects within a computer-generated simulation.

A game of chance add-on raffle game, independent base game and a system for funding the raffle game prize payout is provided. For a premium wager, an add-on raffle game is offered to be added to a state on-line lottery game play at the time of the initial base game play purchase in one embodiment of the present invention. The add-on game play status is printed on the base game ticket. All players of the base game (who purchased the add-on game or not) who achieve a pre-determined outcome receive a raffle ticket containing a unique ticket number that will automatically be entered into the following add-on game raffle drawing at no additional cost. The raffle drawing is held, and the winning raffle numbers are identified. Winning raffle ticket recipients submit their tickets to the lottery authority for their prize. A determination is made if the add-on game was purchased with the base game play associated to the winning raffle ticket. If the add-on game was purchased with the base game play associated to the winning raffle ticket, the player receives the raffle prize. If the add-on game was not purchased with the base game play associated to the winning raffle ticket the player receives a free QP lottery ticket in lieu of receiving the raffle prize and the unpaid raffle prize or a percentage of the unpaid raffle prize will rollover to a subsequent raffle drawing.

Rolling raffle game, prize method and distribution method

For a premium wager, a raffle game is added to a lottery game play. All players of the base game (who purchased the add-on game or not) who achieve a pre-determined outcome receive a raffle game play which is entered into a raffle drawing at no additional cost. The raffle drawing is held, and the winning raffle outcome is identified. Winning raffle ticket recipients submit their tickets to the lottery authority for their prize. A determination is made if the add-on game was purchased with the base game play associated to the winning raffle ticket. If the add-on game was purchased with the base game play, the player receives the raffle prize. If the add-on game was not purchased with the base game play associated to the winning raffle ticket the player receives a free QP lottery ticket in lieu of receiving the raffle prize and the unpaid raffle prize (or a percentage thereof) rolls over to a subsequent raffle drawing. Improvements to a base lottery game are presented which offer players enhanced odds of a winning outcome and qualification to participate in the add-on raffle game of the present invention. The raffle pari-mutuel prize pool consists of a percentage of raffle game sales over a drawing period plus unpaid prize money carried forward from previous draws. In one embodiment, 50% of the pari-mutual prize pool plus any unpaid fixed prize monies carried forward from previous draws is allocated to a fixed prize pool in a drawing period. The fixed prize pool is allocated to a number of different fixed prize units, defined by a method herein. In one embodiment, a pari-mutual grand prize payout does not influence unpaid fixed prize monies carried forward to subsequent drawings and a fixed prize payout does not influence unpaid pari-mutuel grand prize monies carried forward to subsequent drawings, which provides a host with a consistent offering of prizes, drawing period after drawing period; building “prize momentum” regardless of poor weekly game play sales after a grand prize payout. Lastly, an express means for facilitating the lottery game plays of the present invention in an electronic lottery game network is taught. The use of a dispensing terminal interface, which when combined with the methods herein provides quicker transaction periods and assists players in express “impulse game-play” transactions when strategically positioned.
