[0081] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communications system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a remote unit, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples. In some implementations, a UE  104 may be stationary in the wireless communications system 100. In some other implementations, a UE 104 may be mobile in the wireless communications system 100.

[0082] The one or more UEs 104 may be devices in different forms or having different capabilities. Some examples of UEs 104 are illustrated in FIG. 1A. A UE 104 may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as the network entities 102, other UEs 104, or network equipment (e.g., the core network 106, the packet data network 108, a relay device, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, or another network equipment) , as shown in FIG. 1A. Additionally, or alternatively, a UE 104 may support communication with other network entities 102 or UEs 104, which may act as relays in the wireless communications system 100.

[0083] A UE 104 may also be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link 114. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0084] A network entity 102 may support communications with the core network 106, or with another network entity 102, or both. For example, a network entity 102 may interface with the core network 106 through one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The network entities 102 may communicate with each other over the backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an X2, Xn, or another network interface) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., between the network entities 102) . In some other implementations, the network entities 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 106) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as a radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0085] In some implementations, a network entity 102 may be configured in a disaggregated architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically distributed among two or more network entities 102, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance) , or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN) ) . For example, a network entity 102 may include one or more of a central unit (CU) , a distributed unit (DU) , a radio unit (RU) , a RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) (e.g., a Near-Real Time RIC (Near-RT RIC) , a Non-Real Time RIC (Non-RT RIC) ) , a Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) system, or any combination thereof.

[0086] An RU may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , or a transmission reception point (TRP) . One or more components of the network entities 102 in a disaggregated RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entities 102 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations) . In some implementations, one or more network entities 102 of a disaggregated RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., a virtual CU (VCU) , a virtual DU (VDU) , a virtual RU (VRU) ) .

[0087] Split of functionality between a CU, a DU, and an RU may be flexible and may support different functionalities depending upon which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, radio frequency functions, and any combinations thereof) are performed at a CU, a DU, or an RU. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between a CU and a DU such that the CU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the DU may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. In some implementations, the CU may host upper protocol layer (e.g., a layer 3 (L3) , a layer 2 (L2) ) functionality and signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) , service data adaption protocol (SDAP) , Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) ) . The CU may be connected to one or more DUs or RUs, and the one or more DUs or RUs may host lower protocol layers, such as a layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or an L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, MAC layer) functionality and signaling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU.

[0088] Additionally, or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between a DU and an RU such that the DU may support one or more layers of the protocol stack and the RU may support one or more different layers of the protocol  stack. The DU may support one or multiple different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs) . In some implementations, a functional split between a CU and a DU, or between a DU and an RU may be within a protocol layer (e.g., some functions for a protocol layer may be performed by one of a CU, a DU, or an RU, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by a different one of the CU, the DU, or the RU) .

[0089] A CU may be functionally split further into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. A CU may be connected to one or more DUs via a midhaul communication link (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u) , and a DU may be connected to one or more RUs via a fronthaul communication link (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface) . In some implementations, a midhaul communication link or a fronthaul communication link may be implemented in accordance with an interface (e.g., a channel) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 102 that are in communication via such communication links.

[0090] The core network 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) , an access and mobility management functions (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more network entities 102 associated with the core network 106.

[0091] The core network 106 may communicate with the packet data network 108 over one or more backhaul links 116 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N2, or another network interface) . The packet data network 108 may include an application server 118. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server 118. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the core network 106 via a network entity 102. The core network 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server 118 using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) .  The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the core network 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the core network 106) .

[0092] In the wireless communications system 100, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communications system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communications) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0093] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communications system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix.

[0094] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In  some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0095] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communications system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., OFDM symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0096] In the wireless communications system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communications system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the network entities 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communications over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communications traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the network entities 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0097] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ=1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0098] The basic procedure for an AIoT device to enable data transmission includes, for example, paging, random access, data transmission, etc. AIoT devices are characterized according to their energy storage capacity, and capability of generating RF signals for their transmissions. An AIoT device has either no energy storage at all, or has limited energy storage.

[0099] In some implementations, relying on these storage capacities, AIoT devices may be implemented as the following categories: Device A, Device B and Device C. Device A has no energy storage and no independent signal generation / amplification and performs backscattering transmission. Device B has limited energy storage and has no independent signal generation and performs backscattering transmission. The use of stored energy in Device B may include amplification for reflected signals. Device C has limited energy storage and has independent signal generation. Device C has active RF components for transmission. A limited energy storage can be different among implementations within Device B or implementations within Device C, and different between Device B and Device C. Such storage is expected to be order (s) of magnitude smaller than an NB-IoT device would typically include. Device A, B, and C are able to demodulate control, data, etc from the relevant entity according to connectivity topology.

[0100] In some implementations, AIoT devices may be implemented as the following categories: Device 1, Device 2a and Device 2b. Device 1 has a peak power consumption of 1 μW, has energy storage and an initial sampling frequency offset (SFO) up to 10X ppm, and has neither DL nor UL amplification in the device. The device’s UL transmission is backscattered on a carrier wave provided externally. Device 2a has a peak power consumption of no greater than a few hundred μW, has energy storage and an initial SFO up to 10X ppm and has both DL and / or UL amplification in the device. The  device’s UL transmission is backscattered on a carrier wave provided externally. Device 2b has a peak power consumption of no greater than a few hundred μW, has energy storage and an initial SFO up to 10X ppm and has both DL and / or UL amplification in the device. The device’s UL transmission is generated internally by the device. Other terminologies for the classification of AIoT devices are also possible.

[0101] In 3GPP release 18 (Rel-18) , the technical report (TR) 38.348 has made the study on A-IoT as follows:

[0102] Moreover, multiple connectivity topologies for Ambient IoT networks and devices are defined for the purposes of the study. In all these topologies, the Ambient IoT device may be provided with a carrier wave from other node (s) either inside or outside the topology. The links in each topology may be bidirectional or unidirectional. Reference is made to FIGS. 1B and 1C to give example illustrations of these topologies. Other topologies are also possible and applicable to embodiments of the present disclosure. In the example illustrations, BS, UE, assisting node, or intermediate node could be implemented as multiple BSs, multiple UEs, multiple assisting nodes, or multiple intermediate nodes, respectively. The mixture of indoor and outdoor placement of such nodes is regarded as a network implementation choice. Account would need to be taken of potential impact on device or node complexity. In the connectivity topologies, this does not imply the existence of multi-hop assisting or intermediate nodes.

[0103] FIG. 1B illustrates an example of Topology 1. As shown in FIG. 1B, in Topology 1, an AIoT device 121 communicates with a base station 122 directly and bi-directionally. The communication between the base station 122 and the AIoT device 121 includes AIoT data and / or signalling. This topology includes a possibility that a transmission from the base station 122 to the AIoT device 121 is different from a transmission from the AIoT device 121 to the base station 122. In the Topology 1, the base station 122 serves as a reader for the AIoT device 121.

[0104] FIG. 1C illustrates an example of Topology 2. As shown in FIG. 1C, in Topology 2, an AIoT device 131 communicates bidirectionally with an intermediate node 133 between the AIoT device 131 and a base station 132. In this topology, the intermediate node 133 may be a relay node, an IAB node, a UE, a repeater, etc., which is capable of AIoT. The intermediate node 133 transfers AIoT data and / or signalling between the base station 132 and the AIoT device 131. In the Topology 2, the intermediate node 133 serves as a reader for the AIoT device 131.

[0105] As mentioned above, AIoT devices may be categorized into different AIoT device types, e.g, device 1, device 2a and device 2b. Devices with different types may have different capabilities / characteristics, e.g., whether to support DL and UL amplification, whether UL transmission can be generated internally, whether to support large frequency shift, etc. On the other hand, AIoT devices with the same type may have different capabilities / statuses, e.g., clock accuracy, the maximum / available energy  storage, the maximum / available memory size, etc. Table 1 shows some examples of device capabilities and device statuses. Other device capabilities and device statuses are also possible and applicable to embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0106] Table 1 Potential device capabilities and device statuses

[0107] Device information related to device capabilities and device statuses can be used to improve the communication efficiency and the system performance if the reader is aware of these information. For example, with the AIoT device type information, the reader may know whether the AIoT device supports DL and UL amplification, whether UL transmission be generated internally by the AIoT device and whether large frequency shift is supported by the AIoT device. On this basis, the reader may determine whether and how to send carrier wave, thus reducing network energy consumption and eliminating interference. In another example, with the maximum / available energy storage information, the reader may deduce the sustain operation time of the AIoT device, and estimate the AIoT device availability. As a result, the reporting of device capability / status to the reader is necessary, and associated solutions for reporting of information of AIoT device (s) need to be studied.

[0108] Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for reporting of information of AIoT device (s) . In one aspect of the solution of the present disclosure, a first device (for example, a reader) obtains first information of an ambient internet of things (AIoT) device. The first information is related to one or more of the following: a  device type, a device capability or a device status of the AIoT device. The first device communicates with the AIoT device based on the first information. In this way, it is possible to improve the communication efficiency and the system performance.

[0109] FIG. 2A illustrates an example process 200A in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the processes 200A will be described with reference to FIGS. 1B and 1C. The process 200A may involve a first device 201 and an AIoT device 203. The AIoT device 203 may comprise the AIoT device 121 as shown in FIG. 1B or the AIoT device 131 as shown in FIG. 1C. The first device 201 may comprise the base station 122 as shown in FIG. 1B or the intermediate node 133 as shown in FIG. 1C. In some embodiments, the first device 201 may serve as a reader for the AIoT device 203. It is to be understood that the steps and the order of the steps in FIG. 2A are merely for illustration, and not for limitation. It is to be understood that the process 200A may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0110] As shown in FIG. 2A, the first device 201 obtains (206) first information of the AIoT device 203. The first information is related to one or more of the following: a device type, a device capability or a device status of the AIoT device 203. Examples of the device type may include device 1, device 2a and device 2b. Other device types are also possible. Examples of the device capability and the device status are shown in Table 1. Other device capabilities or device statuses are also possible. The first device 201 communicates (208) with the AIoT device 203 based on the first information. The term “first information” is merely for illustration. Other terms are also possible to refer to the information of AIoT device (s) , e.g., device information, AIoT information, etc.

[0111] In a first specific aspect, some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to how the reader obtains the first information. The reader may obtain the first information from the AIoT device 203 or from a core network (CN) node. The AIoT device 203 or the CN node may provide the first information unsolicitedly or in response to an explicit request for the first information. The AIoT device 203 or the CN node may provide the first information explicitly or may implicitly indicate the first information. When providing the first information, the AIoT device 203 or the CN node may report the device capability or the device status of the AIoT device 203, e.g., as shown in Table 1, to the  first device 201. In some cases, the AIoT device 203 or the CN node may only report the device type of the AIoT device 203 to the first device 201. As shown in Table 1, some device capabilities are related to the device type. The first device 201 may know that the AIoT device has the capabilities related to the reported device type.

[0112] In some embodiments, the first device 201 may obtain the first information of the AIoT device 203 from the AIoT device 203. FIG. 2B illustrate an example embodiment of a process 200B that supports reporting of information of AIoT device (s) in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 200B can be considered as a specific example of the process 200A of FIG. 2A and may be applied in an IoT network. The process 200B may involve a first device 201 and an AIoT device 203. The same reference numerals are used to denote the elements or components described in FIG. 2B having the same operations as the elements or components described in FIG. 2A, and detailed description thereof will be omitted. It is to be understood that process 200B may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0113] As shown in FIG. 2B, the AIoT device 203 transmits (212) an indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 to the first device 201. The first device 201 receives (216) the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 and communicates (208) with the AIoT device 203 based on the first information. In some embodiments, the indication 214 related to the first information may include an explicit indication of the first information. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may directly transmit its first information to the first device 201. Alternatively, the indication 214 related to the first information may include an implicit indication of the first information. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may implicitly indicate its first information to the first device 201. The first device 201 may determine the first information of the AIoT device 203 based on the implicit indication.

[0114] In some embodiments, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 in response to receiving an information request. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information to the first device 201 in response to an explicit request for the first information. Alternatively, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT  device 203 based on a determination that a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information to the first device 201 unsolicitedly.

[0115] In some embodiments, the first device 201 may transmit an information request to at least one AIoT device. The at least one AIoT device may include the AIoT device 203. The AIoT device 203 may report its first information to the first device 201 based on the information request. In some examples, the first device 201 may transmit the information request specific to the AIoT device 203, and the AIoT device 203 may respond to the information request accordingly. Alternatively, the first device 201 may transmit the information request to multiple AIoT devices 203. In some cases, each AIoT device receiving the information request may report its respective first information. In some other cases, the information request may request only some of the AIoT devices receiving the information request to respond to the information request by including a filter condition in the request message, while other AIoT devices may not respond to the information request.

[0116] In some implementations, the information request may be carried in one of the following: an AIoT paging message; an initial trigger message; an access trigger message; a message 2 (Msg2) of an AIoT random access procedure; a message B (MsgB) of an AIoT random access procedure; or a reader-to-device (R2D) message specific for information requesting. In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in one of the following: a message carrying a device identification (ID) of the AIoT device 203; a message 1 (Msg1) of an AIoT random access procedure; a message A (MsgA) of an AIoT random access procedure; a message 3 (Msg3) of an AIoT random access procedure; a first device-to-reader (D2R) message from the AIoT device 203 after an AIoT random access procedure; or a D2R message specific for information reporting.

[0117] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in the message carrying a device ID of the AIoT device 203. The message carrying the device ID of the AIoT device 203 may be a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) . The indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be comprised in a MAC control element (CE) of the MAC PDU or in a MAC header of the MAC PDU. The device ID of the AIoT  device 203 may be comprised in a MAC service data unit (SDU) of the MAC PDU. In this way, the first device 201 may be aware of the first information of the AIoT device 203 even if it cannot decode the MAC SDU.

[0118] Reference is now made to FIG. 3, which illustrates an example process 300 in which the AIoT device reports its first information in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 300 can be considered as a specific example of the process 200B of FIG. 2B and may be applied in an IoT network. The process 300 may involve a reader 301 and an AIoT device 303. The reader 301 may be a specific example of the first device 201 in FIGS. 2A and 2B, and the AIoT device 303 may be a specific example of the AIoT device 203 in FIGS. 2A and 2B. It is to be understood that process 300 may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0119] In the process 300, at 305, the reader 301 may request the first information of the AIoT device 303 via a R2D message. The information request may be carried in various R2D messages. For example, the R2D message (i.e., the request message) may be an AIoT paging message, an initial trigger message, an access trigger message, Msg2 / MsgB of an AIoT random access process, or a separate R2D message specific for information request.

[0120] At 310, the AIoT device 303 may respond its first information to the reader 301 via a D2R message. The reported first information may be carried in various D2R messages. For example, the D2R message (i.e., the report message) may be the message to report the device ID, Msg1 / MsgA of an AIoT random access process, Msg3 of an AIoT random access process, the first D2R message after an AIoT random access process, or a separate D2R message specific for information reporting. If the D2R message is the message to the report device ID, the first information may be included in a MAC CE or MAC header of the MAC PDU, and the AIoT device ID may be included in a MAC SDU.

[0121] Turning back to FIG. 2B, in some embodiments, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 proactively.

[0122] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in a message carrying a device identification (ID) of the AIoT device 203. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information  when a message carrying a device ID of the AIoT device 203 is to be transmitted to the first device 201. In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in the message carrying a device ID of the AIoT device 203.

[0123] In an example, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information proactively all the time. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information each time the AIoT device 203 transmits a message carrying a device ID of the AIoT device 203 to the first device 201. In another example, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information proactively periodically. In other words, every N times the AIoT device 203 transmits a message carrying the device ID of the AIoT device 203 to the first device 201, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information, wherein N is an integer larger than 1. In a further example, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information in a message carrying the device ID of the AIoT device 203 if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In other words, if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information when transmitting a message carrying a device ID of the AIoT device 203 to the first device 201. In some cases, the transmission of the message carrying a device ID of the AIoT device 203 to the first device 201 may also be defined as a condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0124] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in a Msg1 of an AIoT random access procedure. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information when a Msg1 of an AIoT random access procedure is to be transmitted to the first device 201. In an example, the indication 214 related to the first information may be carried in a Msg1 as payload of the Msg1. In another example, the indication 214 related to the first information may be indicated by a random ID or a sequence of the AIoT device 203 in a Msg1. For example, different first information may relate to different length or different type of the random ID or the sequence in a Msg1. The AIoT device 203 may report its first information in  Msg1 of an AIoT random access procedure proactively all the time or periodically or if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In some cases, the transmission of the Msg1 of an AIoT random access procedure may also be defined as a condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0125] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in a MsgA of an AIoT random access procedure. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information when a MsgA of an AIoT random access procedure is to be transmitted to the first device 201. In an example, the indication 214 related to the first information may be carried in a MsgA as payload of the MsgA. In another example, the indication 214 related to the first information may be indicated by a random ID or a sequence of the AIoT device 203 in a MsgA. For example, different first information may relate to different length or different type of the random ID or the sequence in a MsgA. The AIoT device 203 may report its first information in MsgA of an AIoT random access procedure proactively all the time or periodically or if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In some cases, the transmission of the MsgA of an AIoT random access procedure may also be defined as a condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0126] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in a Msg3 of an AIoT random access procedure. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information when a Msg3 of an AIoT random access procedure is to be transmitted to the first device 201. The AIoT device 203 may report its first information in Msg3 of an AIoT random access procedure proactively all the time or periodically or if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In some cases, the transmission of the Msg3 of an AIoT random access procedure may also be defined as a condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0127] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in a first D2R message from the AIoT device 203 after an AIoT random access procedure. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information when a first D2R message after an AIoT random access procedure is to be transmitted to the first device 201. The AIoT device 203 may report its first information in a first D2R message after an AIoT random access procedure proactively all the time or periodically or if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In some  cases, the transmission of the first D2R message after an AIoT random access procedure may also be defined as a condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0128] In some implementations, the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 may be carried in a first D2R message after a condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In other words, if a condition for information reporting is fulfilled, the AIoT device 203 may report its first information when transmitting a most recent D2R message after the condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0129] In some embodiments, the condition for information reporting may include that a specific paging cause is comprised in an AIoT paging message or an initial trigger message. In other words, if the specific paging cause is included in the AIoT paging message or an initial trigger message from the reader, the condition for information reporting is fulfilled. Examples of the specific paging cause may include but not limited to a command or a proximity / location service.

[0130] In some embodiments, the condition for information reporting may include that a specific message for an AIoT service is transmitted to the AIoT device 203. In other words, if the AIoT device 203 receives a specific AIoT message, e.g., a command message or a proximity / localization request message, the condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0131] In some embodiments, the condition for information reporting may include that the first device 201 serves as a new reader for the AIoT device 203. In other words, if the reader is new for the AIoT device, the condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0132] In some embodiments, the condition for information reporting may include that a reader ID of the first device 201 is not in the storage of the AIoT device 203. In other words, if the reader ID is not stored in the AIoT device storage, the condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0133] In some embodiments, the condition for information reporting may include that the first device 201 transmits, to the AIoT device 203, an indication that the first device 201 is capable of differentiating different device types or different device capabilities, and device type information or device capability information of the AIoT device 203 has not been received from the first device 201. In other words, if the AIoT device 203 obtains the indication that the reader has the capability to differentiate  different AIoT device types or different AIoT device capabilities and the AIoT device capability of the AIoT device 203 was not reported to the reader yet, the condition for information reporting is fulfilled. The reader may include the indication that the reader has the capability to differentiate different device types or different device capabilities in the AIoT paging message or and an initial trigger message or other R2D messages to the AIoT device.

[0134] In some embodiments, the condition for information reporting may include that a device status of the AIoT device 203 satisfies a pre-defined reporting requirement. In an example, if the status of the AIoT device 203 (e.g., an available energy storage of the AIoT device 203 or an available memory size of the AIoT device 203) is lower / higher than a pre-defined threshold, the condition for information reporting is fulfilled. In another example, if a special status has been reached (e.g., a memory size of the AIoT device 203 has been fully used) , the condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0135] In some embodiments, the first device 201 may transmit an AIoT request message to at least one AIoT device. The AIoT request message may include a filter indication related to the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status. The AIoT device 203 may receive the AIoT request message from the first device 201 and determine whether the AIoT device 203 has the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status based on the filter indication. In order to transmit the indication 214 related to the first information, the first device 201 may transmit an AIoT response message for the AIoT request message to the first device 201 if the AIoT device 203 has the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status. In other words, the condition for information reporting may include that the AIoT device 203 has the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status. When obtaining the first information, the first device 201 may receive an AIoT response message for the AIoT request message from the AIoT device 203, and determine that the AIoT device 203 has the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status based on receiving the AIoT response message. In other words, only those AIoT devices that are indicated by the reader in the AIoT service request message will respond to the AIoT service request message, and these AIoT devices do not need to respond their first information explicitly.

[0136] For example, for inventory service, in a specific round, if the reader indicates in an inventory message that AIoT device (s) with a specific type / capability / status need to respond, then only those AIoT device (s) with the indicated type / capability / status will respond to the inventory message and the reader will know that the responded AIoT devices all have the indicated type / capability / status. In this case, the AIoT device does not need to respond its first information explicitly. In the AIoT-related procedure (e.g., inventory) , a R2D message may include a filter related to first information. AIoT devices filtered out by the filter may respond to the R2D message and the reader may be aware that the AIoT devices responding to the R2D message are filtered out by the filter.

[0137] Turning back to FIG. 2A, in some embodiments, the first device 201 may obtain the first information of the AIoT device 203 from a second device. FIG. 2C illustrate an example embodiment of a process 200C that supports reporting of information of AIoT device (s) in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 200C can be considered as a specific example of the process 200A of FIG. 2A and may be applied in an IoT network. The process 200C may involve a first device 201, a second device 202 and an AIoT device 203. The second device 202 may comprise a core network (CN) node in the core network 106 as shown in FIG. 1A. The same reference numerals are used to denote the elements or components described in FIG. 2C having the same operations as the elements or components described in FIG. 2A, and detailed description thereof will be omitted. It is to be understood that process 200C may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0138] As shown in FIG. 2C, the second device 202 transmits (222) first information 224 of at least one AIoT device to the first device 201. The first device 201 receives (226) the first information 224 of the at least one AIoT device accordingly. The first information of the at least one AIoT device may be related to one or more of the following: a device type, a device capability or a device status of the at least one AIoT device. The at least one AIoT device may include the AIoT device 203. The first device 201 then communicates (208) with the AIoT device 203 based on the first information 224.

[0139] In some embodiment, the first device 201 may transmit an information request to a second device 202 and the second device 202 may transmit the first information 224  of at least one AIoT device to the first device 201 in response to receiving the information request from the first device 201. In other words, the second device 202 may indicate first information of AIoT device (s) to the reader in response to an explicit request for the first information of AIoT device (s) from the reader. In some embodiments, the information request is carried in a message in a registering of the first device 201 in the second device 202. Alternatively, the information request is carried in a report of a device ID of the AIoT device 203 transmitted from the first device 201 to the second device 202. Alternatively, the information request is carried in a message specific for information requesting. Alternatively, the information request is carried in a message in a process of the first device 201 assisting in a registration of the AIoT device 203 in the second device 202. In some embodiments, the first information of the AIoT device 203 may be received from the second device 202. The first information may be carried in a service request message associated with at least one AIoT device comprising the AIoT device 203. Alternatively, the first information may be carried in a command message associated with at least one AIoT device comprising the AIoT device 203. Alternatively, the first information may be carried in a message specific for information indication.

[0140] Reference is now made to FIG. 4, which illustrates an example process 400 in which the reader requests first information of AIoT device (s) from the CN node in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 400 can be considered as a specific example of the process 200C of FIG. 2C and may be applied in an IoT network. The process 400 may involve a reader 401 and a CN node 402. The reader 401 may be a specific example of the first device 201 in FIGS. 2A and 2C, and the CN node 402 may be a specific example of the second device 202 in FIGS. 2A and 2C. It is to be understood that process 400 may further include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some shown blocks, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0141] In the process 400, at 405, the reader 401 may request the first information of AIoT device (s) from the CN node 402. The information request may be carried in various messages. For example, the reader 401 may request the first information of AIoT device (s) while registering the reader information (e.g., the reader capability) in the CN node 402. Alternatively, the reader 401 may request the first information of AIoT device (s) while reporting the device ID of the AIoT device (s) to the CN node 402. Alternatively, the reader 401 may request the first information of AIoT device (s) from the CN node 402 via  a separate message specific for requesting first information of AIoT device (s) . Alternatively, the reader 401 may request the first information of AIoT device from the CN node 402 while assisting the AIoT device to register in the CN node 402.

[0142] At 410, the CN node 402 may indicate the first information of AIoT device (s) (e.g., at least one of device type, device capability or device status of at least one AIoT device) to the reader 401. The first information of AIoT device (s) may be carried in various messages. For example, the CN node 402 may include the first information of AIoT device (s) in the service request message. Alternatively, the CN node 402 may include the first information of AIoT device (s) in a command message. Alternatively, the CN node 402 may include the first information of AIoT device (s) in a separate message specific for AIoT information indication.

[0143] Turning back to FIG. 2C, in some embodiments, the second device 202 may directly transmit the first information 224 of at least one AIoT device to the first device 201 when transmitting a message related to the at least one AIoT device to the first device 201. In other words, the second device 202 may indicate the first information of AIoT device (s) to the reader without receiving an AIoT information request from the reader. In some embodiments, the first information of the at least one AIoT device may be carried in a service request message associated with at least one AIoT device comprising the AIoT device 203. Alternatively, the first information of the at least one AIoT device may be carried in a command message associated with at least one AIoT device comprising the AIoT device 203. Alternatively, the first information of the at least one AIoT device may be carried in a message specific for information indication. In other words, the CN node may include the first information of AIoT device (s) in the service request message to the reader, or in a command message or in separate message to the reader.

[0144] In some embodiments, the message related to the at least one AIoT device may include at least one of device type information, device capability information or device status information of at least one AIoT device. In other words, when obtaining the first information, the first device 201 may receive, from the second device 202, at least one of device type information, device capability information or device status information of at least one AIoT device. In some implementations, the CN node may indicate the first information of one or more specific AIoT device (s) . For example, the CN node may indicate that the type of the targeted device (s) is device type 1.

[0145] Alternatively, the message related to the at least one AIoT device may include an indication of the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status that one or more among the at least one target AIoT device have. In other words, when obtaining the first information, the first device 201 may receive, from the second device 202, an indication of the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status that one or more among at least one target AIoT device have. The AIoT device 203 is comprised in the at least one target AIoT device and has the at least one of the device type, the device capability or the device status. In some implementations, the CN node may indicate which device capabilities / statuses are included among the target devices. For example, the CN node may indicate that the type of targeted devices includes device type 2a and device type 2b.

[0146] In some embodiments, the first information may be transmitted to the first device 201 further based on a reader capability information of the first device 201 or register information of the first device 201. In other words, the CN node may indicate the first information to the reader based on the reader capability information and the reader capability register information, e.g., the indication that the reader has the capability to differentiate different device types or different capabilities.

[0147] In a second specific aspect, some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to how to request and report first information between the reader and AIoT devices.

[0148] Reference is now made to FIG. 2B. In some embodiments, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to first information of the AIoT device 203 in response to receiving an information request. Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to the format and content of the information request message from the reader to AIoT devices.

[0149] In some embodiments, the information request may include a first indication of the at least one AIoT device that is requested to respond to the information request. In other words, the information request message may indicate the target device (s) which need to respond (i.e., who to respond) . An AIoT device receiving the information request may determine whether it is requested to respond to the information request based on the first indication.

[0150] In some implementations, the first indication may include identification information for the at least one AIoT device. In one example, the identification  information may include respective device ID of each of the at least one AIoT device. In another example, the identification information may include a group ID of the at least one AIoT device. In a further example, the identification information may include an access stratum (AS) layer ID of each of the at least one AIoT device.

[0151] In some implementations, the first indication may include a device type. The at least one AIoT device that is requested to respond to the information request has the device type. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to the first information if the AIoT device 203 has the device type.

[0152] In some implementations, the first indication may include a device capability. The at least one AIoT device that is requested to respond to the information request has the device capability. In other words, the AIoT device 203 transmits the indication 214 related to the first information if the AIoT device 203 has the device capability.

[0153] In some implementations, the first indication may include a device status. The at least one AIoT device that is requested to respond to the information request has the device status. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to the first information if the AIoT device 203 has the device status.

[0154] In some implementations, the first indication may include a filtering condition. The at least one AIoT device that is requested to respond to the information request satisfies the filtering condition. In other words, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214 related to the first information if the AIoT device 203 satisfies the filtering condition.

[0155] In some implementations, the first indication may include null or an indication indicative of all AIoT devices. The at least one AIoT device that is requested to respond to the information request may include all AIoT devices receiving the information request.

[0156] In some embodiments, the information request may include a second indication associated with at least one of required device capability or required device status. In other words, the information request message may indicate the required first information content. Based on the second indication, the AIoT device may be aware of what first information to respond. In some implementations, the second indication may include one of the following: a device type indication; the required device capability; the  required device status; a default value associated with a default device capability or a default device status; or null.

[0157] In some embodiments, the information request may include a third indication associated with response resources for responding to the information request. Based on the third indication, the AIoT device may be aware of which resource to use to indicate the first information. In some implementations, the third indication may be indicative of the response resources in time domain and / or in frequency domain. Alternatively, the third indication may be indicative of available resource sets for the response resources. Alternatively, the third indication may be indicative of default resources as the response resource, wherein the default resources are preconfigured or specified. Alternatively, the third indication may be indicative of null.

[0158] In some embodiments, the information request may include a fourth indication of a response signaling for responding to the information request. Based on the fourth indication, the AIoT device may be aware of which signaling to use to indicate the first information. In some implementations, the response signaling may include a Msg1 of an AIoT random access procedure. Alternatively, the response signaling may include a MsgA of an AIoT random access procedure. Alternatively, the response signaling may include a Msg3 of an AIoT random access procedure. Alternatively, the response signaling may include a first D2R message after an AIoT random access procedure. Alternatively, the response signaling may include a default D2R message, wherein the default D2R message is preconfigured or specified. Alternatively, the response signaling may include a D2R message specific for information reporting. Alternatively, the response signaling may include the first D2R message after a determination that the condition for information reporting is fulfilled.

[0159] Table 2 shows an example of the format and content of information request message from the reader to AIoT devices. The information request message may indicate one or more information including but not limited to: the target device (s) which need to respond (i.e., who to respond) , required first information, response resource information, response signalling information, etc.

[0160] Table 2 Format and content of information request message

[0161] In the “who to respond” field or information element (IE) of the information request message, the reader may indicate ‘target device (s) which need to respond’ by including identity for one or more devices (e.g., single device ID, multiple device IDs, group ID, no ID) or the indication of a specific device type, or the indication of specific first information, or the other filter / mask (e.g., ‘devices being paged’ ) in the specific field / IE of the request message. Only devices satisfying the condition in the “who to respond” field or IE need to respond to the information request message. For example, if a specific device ID is included in the information request message, only the AIoT device indicated by the ID needs to respond. In another example, if ‘device type 2b’ is included in the field / IE of the request message, only devices with device type 2b need to respond the request message. In a further example, if ‘support large frequency shift’ is included in the field / IE of the request message, only devices which support large frequency shift need to respond the request message.

[0162] In some examples, the reader may include no value or specific value (e.g., ‘all’ ) in the “who to respond” field / IE of the request message, to indicate that all the AIoT devices receiving the request message need to respond. In one option, all the AIoT devices may respond a respective pre-defined capability / status if 'no value'or 'a ll'a ppeared. In  another option, all the AIoT devices may respond the respective capability / status indicated in the 'required first information'field.

[0163] In the “required first information” field / IE of the information request message, the reader may indicate the required first information by including specific first information in one or more specific field / IE of the request message. In an example, if ‘device type’ is included in the specific field / IE of the request message, the AIoT device may respond its device type to the reader. In another example, if ‘large frequency shift’ is included in the field, the AIoT device may respond to the reader whether it supports large frequency shift or not, e.g., respond ‘1’  / ’0’ or ‘yes’  / ’ no’ . In a further example, if ‘maximum capacity size / energy storage size’ is included in the field, the AIoT device may respond a specific value of the maximum capacity size or energy storage size of the AIoT device to the reader. In some examples, the reader may include one or multiple ‘required first information’ fields / IEs in the request message, e.g., the reader requests the AIoT devices to report their large frequency shift capability and maximum memory size information.

[0164] In some examples, the reader may not include anything in the “required first information” field / IE of the request message or may include a specific value (e.g., ‘null’ or ‘0’ ) in the “required first information” field / IE of the request message. In this case, the AIoT device doesn’ t need to respond first information to the reader. In some examples, the reader may indicate a specific value (e.g., ‘default’ ) in the “required first information” field / IE. In this case, the AIoT device responds default first information (e.g., device type, device capability ID) to the reader.

[0165] In the “response resource indication” field / IE of the information request message, the reader may indicate the response resource by including an explicit time / frequency resource or available time / frequency resource (set) in the “response resource indication” field / IE of the request message. The time / frequency resource (set) for the information reporting may be indicated by a shared resource or a dedicated resource, the response time point, a periodic resource or an aperiodic resource. Examples of the available time / frequency resource (set) may be ‘during random access’ , ‘after random access’ , ‘together with device ID reporting’ , ’ together with random ID / contention resolution ID reporting in Msg1 / MsgA’ , ‘maximum response time window’ , etc.

[0166] In some examples, the reader may not include anything in the “response resource indication” field or may include a specific value (e.g., ‘default’ ) in the “response signalling indication” field. In this case, the AIoT device uses a default response resource to indicate its first information to the reader. The default resource may be pre-configured to the AIoT device or specified before.

[0167] In the “response signalling indication” field / IE of the information request message, the reader may indicate the response signalling in the specific field / IE of the request message. Examples of the the indicated signalling to respond may be Msg1 / MsgA, Msg3, the first D2R msg after random access process, etc. In some examples, the reader may not include anything in the “response signalling indication” field or may include specific value (e.g., ‘default’ ) in the “response signalling indication” field. In this case, the AIoT device uses a default signalling to indicate its first information to the reader. The default signalling may be pre-configured to the AIoT device or specified before. The response signalling may be associated with the response resource. In other words, the reader may not indicate response resource and response signalling simultaneously.

[0168] Some embodiments of the present disclosure relate to the format and content of the first information report message from AIoT devices to the reader.

[0169] In some embodiments, the indication 214 related to the first information may include a device ID of the AIoT device 203. Alternatively or additionally, the indication 214 related to the first information may include an AS layer ID of the AIoT device 203. Alternatively or additionally, the indication 214 related to the first information may include an acknowledgement indication indicating that the AIoT device 203 satisfies device requirements in the information request. Alternatively or additionally, the indication 214 related to the first information may include a negative acknowledgement indication indicating that the AIoT device 203 does not satisfy device requirements in the information request. For example, the AIoT device may only respond at least one of its identity information (e.g., device ID or AS layer ID) or an ACK / NACK indication to the reader based on the information request or AIoT service message. Table 3 shows an example of the format and content of information reporting message from AIoT devices to the reader.

[0170] Table 3 Format and content of first information report message

[0171] In the case that the reader requests the AIoT devices with a specific type / capability / status to respond, the AIoT device responds its device ID or AS layer ID and ACK to indicate that it has the type / capability / status. If the AIoT device does not have the type / capability / status, the AIoT device may respond its device ID or AS layer ID and NACK, or may not respond to the reader. If the information request message is transmitted to the AIoT device via a dedicated resource for the AIoT device, the AIoT device may not need to include its device ID or AS layer ID in the “who to respond” field / IE. In other words, the AIoT device can be identified by the dedicated resource. In the case that the reader requests the AIoT device to respond whether the AIoT device has a specific type / capability / status via a dedicated resource for the AIoT device, the AIoT device responds ACK to indicate that it has the type / capability / status. If the AIoT device does not have the type / capability / status, the AIoT device may respond NACK, or may not respond to the reader.

[0172] In some embodiments, the indication 214 related to the first information may include a device ID or an AS layer ID of the AIoT device 203. The device ID or the AS layer ID of the AIoT device 203 is indicative that AIoT device satisfies device requirements in the information request. In the case that the reader requests the AIoT devices with a specific type / capability / status to respond, the AIoT device responds its device ID to indicate that it has the type / capability / status. If the AIoT device does not have the type / capability / status, the AIoT device may not respond to the reader.

[0173] In some embodiments, the indication 214 related to the first information may include identification information of the AIoT device 203. In some implementations, the identification information of the AIoT device 203 may include a device ID of the AIoT device 203. Alternatively, the identification information of the AIoT device 203 may include an AS layer ID of the AIoT device 203. Alternatively or additionally, the indication 214 related to the first information may include required first information of the AIoT device 203. For example, the AIoT device 203 may transmit the indication 214  related to first information of the AIoT device 203 in response to receiving an information request and the information request may include a second indication associated with at least one of required device capability or required device status. The indication 214 related to the first information may include first information of the AIoT device 203 required in the second indication.

[0174] In some embodiments, the required first information of the AIoT device 203 may include at least one of the following: a device type of the AIoT device 203; an indication of whether the AIoT device 203 has the required device capability; a value of the required device capability that the AIoT device 203 has; an indication of whether the AIoT device 203 has the required device status; a value of the required device status that the AIoT device 203 has; or a capability ID of the required device capability that the AIoT device 203 has. In some examples, the capability ID is valid until an updated capability ID being assigned to the AIoT device 203. Alternatively, the capability ID is valid until the capability ID being deleted by a second device. Table 4 shows another example of the format and content of information reporting message from AIoT devices to the reader. Table 4 Format and content of first information report message

[0175] The AIoT device may include its device ID or AS layer filed in the “who to respond” field / IE of the report message to indicate its identity. If the information request message is transmitted to the AIoT device via a dedicated resource for the AIoT device, the AIoT device may include nothing in the “who to respond” field / IE. In other words, the AIoT device can be identified by the dedicated resource.

[0176] The AIoT device may include required first information, e.g., a specific device type, whether to have a specific capability, a specific value for a capability or status, a capability ID, in the “required first information” field / IE of the report message. The network may assign at least one device capability ID to the AIoT device, which implies  one or a set of device capabilities / status. The AIoT device may report a device capability ID based on the reader request, or the AIoT device may prioritize to send device capability ID if it is assigned with a device capability ID.

[0177] The validity of reported device related information depends on the type of the first information. For example, the device type and static device capability (e.g., whether to support a large frequency shift, whether to support generating UL transmission internally, whether to support DL and UL amplification, etc. ) are valid all the time. The device status changes in real time, and is only valid on-shot. The device capability ID is valid until a new device capability ID is assigned to the AIoT device, or is valid until the network deletes the AIoT device capability ID.

[0178] FIG. 5 illustrates an example of a device 500 that supports reporting of information of AIoT device (s) in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. The device 500 may be an example of the first device 201, the second device 202 or the AIoT device 203 as described herein. The device 500 may support wireless communication with one or more devices in the AIoT system. The device 500 may include components for bi-directional communications including components for transmitting and receiving communications, such as a processor 502, a memory 504, a transceiver 506, and, optionally, an I / O controller 508. These components may be in electronic communication or otherwise coupled (e.g., operatively, communicatively, functionally, electronically, electrically) via one or more interfaces (e.g., buses) .

[0179] The processor 502, the memory 504, the transceiver 506, or various combinations thereof or various components thereof may be examples of means for performing various aspects of the present disclosure as described herein. For example, the processor 502, the memory 504, the transceiver 506, or various combinations or components thereof may support a method for performing one or more of the operations described herein.

[0180] In some implementations, the processor 502, the memory 504, the transceiver 506, or various combinations or components thereof may be implemented in hardware (e.g., in communications management circuitry) . The hardware may include a processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, a discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof configured as  or otherwise supporting a means for performing the functions described in the present disclosure. In some implementations, the processor 502 and the memory 504 coupled with the processor 502 may be configured to perform one or more of the functions described herein (e.g., executing, by the processor 502, instructions stored in the memory 504) .
