[0005] The present invention relates to vaporization devices. In particular, in alternative embodiments, provided are vaporization devices comprising improved mechanisms for removing batteries and fluid cartridges or fluid reservoirs.
[0006] BACKGROUND
[0007] Personal vaporization devices, also known as vaporizers or vapes or atomizers, amongst other names, have grown substantially in popularity over the last several years. Such devices typically include a cartridge having an internal reservoir that holds a vaporization liquid, commonly called an e-liquid or plant-based oil extract, that is vaporized for inhalation by a user. Such e-liquids or plant-based oil extracts often contain, for example without limitation, nicotine or cannabis extracts.

[0009] In alternative embodiments, provided are refurbishable vaporization devices (100, 600, 800, 1000) comprising: an outer shell (170, 670, 1070) having a mouthpiece (110) and a mouthpiece end (113) or a mouthpiece end (114) that makes contact with a cartridge (130, 1030), wherein the mouthpiece (110) is lockably attachable to a tube (131), the cartridge (130, 1030) or removable chassis (850), (the mouthpiece (110) is comprised of the top mouthpiece end (113) where a hole of the mouthpiece (111) is located for a user to inhale from, and an optional locking adapter (120) is inside the mouthpiece housing (116, 616), and a mouthpiece seal (115) is partially in the mouthpiece housing (116, 616) and partially hanging out of the second mouthpiece end (114); and the locking adapter (120) inside the mouthpiece housing (116, 616) locks onto the tube (131) to allow attachment to cartridge (130, 1030); and embodiment 3, the tube (131) is optional (if there is no tube then there is no locking adapter (120)) therefore the mouthpiece (110) attaches to the cartridge (130) when release arm B (877) and hooked arm B (878) of the removable chassis (850) locks into the latch of mouthpiece (876); and for embodiment 3, even if there is no tube (131) and no locking adapter (120), a mouthpiece seal (115) would still be housed in the mouthpiece housing (816); the hole of the mouthpiece (111) located at the top mouthpiece end (113) is where the user would draw from and when the user draws air from the mouthpiece hole (111), air will enter the device through the bottom air intake hole (174, 674)), wherein the removable outer shell (170, 670, 1070) comprises:

Claims
WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. A vaporization device (100, 600, 800, 1000) comprising:(a) an outer shell (170, 670, 1070) having a mouthpiece (110) and a mouthpiece end (113) or a mouthpiece end (114) that makes contact with a cartridge (130, 1030), wherein the mouthpiece (110) is lockably attachable to a tube (131), the cartridge (130, 1030) or removable chassis (850),(b)(i) a tube (131) disposed within said cartridge (130), the tube (131) extending from a first end (133), and the mouthpiece (110) is lockably attached to the tube (131);(ii) a mouthpiece (110) lockably attached to the cartridge (130), or(iii) a mouthpiece (110) lockably attached to the removeable holder (850);(c) a fluid reservoir (137, 837) disposed within said cartridge (130, 1030); and(d) a battery or power source (160) electrically coupled to the Anode B (155) disposed within a removable chassis (150, 650, 850), and optionally the Anode A (140) makes a connection (or an operable, electrical connection) with the Anode B (155) when the cartridge (130, 1030) contacts the battery or power source (160) when secured by a securing mechanism (optionally a hooking rib, a release arm (wherein optionally the release arm comprises or is fabricated as a latch mechanism, or a threading or threaded grooving for twisting the cartridge on and off)) (153, 653) on the removable chassis (150, 650, 850), and optionally said cartridge (130, 1030) and battery or power source (160) are independently removeable and / or replaceable.
2. The vaporization device of claim 1, wherein said removable chassis (150, 650, 850) comprises room, or a space, for a battery or power source (160), a pressure or air flow sensor (161), and / or a charging port (162).
3. The vaporization device of claim 1, wherein said outer shell (170, 1070) comprises a cartridge (130, 1030) and the removable chassis (150) can hold or contain a battery or power source (160), each independently removably sealed to the outer shell (170, 1070) by flexible rings (139, 154);wherein said tube (131), said fluid reservoir (137) and said heating unit (138) are disposed within the cartridge (130, 1030); wherein said battery or power source (160) and said pressure or air flow sensor (161) are disposed within the removable chassis (150); and wherein the removable chassis (150) includes the charging port (162).
4. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-3, further comprising a mouthpiece (110) having a passage (112) disposed therethrough.
5. The vaporization device of claim 4, wherein the mouthpiece (110) comprises a mouthpiece housing (116, 616) and optionally a locking adapter (120) (if the embodiment lacks a tube (131) in the cartridge, then the locking adapter is not present) disposed at least partially within the mouthpiece housing (116, 616), the locking adapter (120) supporting a mouthpiece seal (115) disposed at the second end (114) of the mouthpiece (110); wherein the mouthpiece seal makes sealing contact with an internal surface of an inner wall of the tank (135, 1035) when the mouthpiece (110) is lockably attached to said tank (135, 1035), the mouthpiece seal being sized to span an annular width of the fluid reservoir (137).
6. The vaporization device of any of claims 4-5, wherein the mouthpiece (110) comprises a mouthpiece housing (116, 616) and optionally a locking adapter (120) (if the embodiment lacks a tube (131) in the cartridge, then the locking adapter is not present) disposed at least partially within the mouthpiece housing (116, 616), the locking adapter (120) supporting a mouthpiece seal (115) disposed at the second end (114) of the mouthpiece (110); wherein the mouthpiece seal (115) makes sealing contact with an internal surface of an inner wall of the tank (135, 1035) and with an outer surface of the tube (131) when the mouthpiece is lockably attached to said tank (135, 1035).
7. The vaporization device of any of claims 4-6,wherein said tube includes a radially outwardly extending tube shoulder (132) at the first end (133) of said tube (131); wherein the mouthpiece (110) comprises two or more hooked arms (122) extending longitudinally from the locking adapter (120) toward the passage of the mouthpiece (110); and wherein the two or more hooked arms engage the radially outwardly extending shoulder of the tube (131) to lockably attach the mouthpiece (110) to said tank (135, 1035).
8. The vaporization device of claim 7, wherein the mouthpiece (110) further comprises a release arm (121) respectively extending from each of the two or more hooked arms for allowing the mouthpiece (110) to be released from the cartridge by insertion of a release pin (300) between the release arms (121).
9. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-8, wherein the path for air flow extends into a passage (112) of the mouthpiece (110).
10. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-9, wherein the path for air flow extends through a space between the battery or power source (160) and said removable chassis (150, 650, 850)11. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-10, wherein the path for air flow extends through said heating unit (138) and optionally through said tube (131).
12. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-11, wherein the path for air flow extends through a space between the battery or power source (160) and said removable chassis (150, 650, 850), and into a passage (112) of the mouthpiece (110).
13. The vaporization device of claim 12, wherein between the space between said battery or power source (160) and said removable chassis (150, 650, 850) and the passage of the mouthpiece (110), the path for air flow further extends through said heating unit (138, 838) and through said optional tube (131).

The vaporization device of any of claims 12-13, wherein between the space between said battery or power source (160) and said removeable chassis (150, 650, 850) and the passage of the mouthpiece (110), the path for air flow further extends through a space between said removable chassis (150, 650, 850) and the outer wall of said fluid reservoir (137, 837).

The vaporization device of any of claims 1-14, further comprising a flexible ring (139, 154), optionally a silicon ring, wherein the flexible ring (154) is positioned between the outer shell (170, 1070) and the removable chassis (150) such that the outer shell (170, 1070) is fixed steady when covering or encasing the removeable chassis (150), and optionally the flexible ring (139) is positioned between the outer shell (170, 1070) and cartridge (130, 1030) such that the outer shell (170, 1070) is fixed steady when covering or encasing the cartridge (130, 1030) that is attached to the removeable chassis (150).
16. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-15, wherein the path for air flow extends through a space between the battery (160) and said removeable chassis (150, 650, 850), through said heating unit (138, 838), through said optional tube (131), through a space between said removeable chassis (150, 650, 850) and the outer wall of the fluid reservoir (137, 837) and into a passage of the mouthpiece (110).
17. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-16, comprising an anode A (140) operably connected to the heating unit (138) and an anode B (155) operably connected to the battery or power source (160), wherein the Anode A and the Anode B make an operable connection when assembled by sliding in a cartridge (130, 1030) into the removable chassis (150, 650, 850).
18. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-17, wherein said pressure or air flow sensor (161) is configured to detect when a user inhales on the mouthpiece (110).
19. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-18, wherein said pressure or air flow sensor (161) is configured to detect a pressure drop and / or an air flow.

The vaporization device of any of claims 1-19, wherein said pressure or air flow sensor (161) is electrically connected to a battery or power source (160), the circuitry being operably (and / or electrically) connected to said anode B (155) which is operably connected to anode A (140) which is operably connected to said heating unit (138), said pressure or air flow sensor (161) being configured to send a signal to cause the battery or power source (160) to activate the said heating unit (138) when said pressure or air flow sensor (161) detects a pressure drop and / or an air flow.

The vaporization device of any of claims 1-20, wherein said fluid reservoir (137, 837) comprises an outer wall forming a tank (135, 1035) disposed annularly around the optional tube (131), the fluid reservoir (137, 837) being in fluid communication with an exterior surface of the heating unit (138).

The vaporization device of any of claims 1-21, further comprising an outer shell (670) surrounding or encasing the removeable chassis (650, 850), and the removeable chassis (650, 850) comprises a release arm A (651) and hooked arm A (652) operably connected to a latch (671), wherein the latch (671) holds the removeable chassis (650, 850) in place within the outer shell, and when the release arm A (651) is compressed the hooked arm A (652) is released from the latch (671) to release the outer shell (670) from the removeable chassis (650, 850) such that the outer shell (670) can be removed.

The vaporization device of any of claims 1-22, comprising a removable cartridge (130, 1030) and a securing mechanism (optionally a hooking rib, a release arm (wherein optionally the release arm comprises or is fabricated as a latch mechanism, or a threading or threaded grooving for twisting the cartridge on and off)) (153, 653) attached to the removeable chassis (150, 650, 850), wherein the securing mechanism constrains or restrains the cartridge (130, 1030) from moving upwards, but the cartridge (130, 1030) can be removed by horizontally sliding the cartridge (130, 1030).

The vaporization device of any of claims 1-23, comprising a first locking mechanism locking the mouthpiece housing (116, 616, 816) within the tank (135, 1035), a second locking mechanism locking the outer shell (670) with the removeable chassis (650, 850), a third locking mechanism locking the outer shell (1070) with the cartridge tank (1035),and a fourth locking mechanism locking the mouthpiece housing (816) with the removeable chassis (850)25. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-24, comprising a flexible release arm A (651) of the removeable chassis (650, 850) or release arm (1036) of the tank (1035) that disengages the outer shell (670, 1070) from the removeable chassis (650, 850, 150).
26. The vaporization device of any of claims 1-25, comprising a removable cartridge (130, 1030) that can be removed by movement in a horizontal direction.
27. The vaporization device of any of claims 1, wherein the removable chassis (150) and cartridge (130, 1030) are secured within the outer shell (170, 1070) by flexible rings (139, 154) such that the removable chassis (150) can be removed from the outer shell (170, 1070).

A vaporization device (100) of any of the preceding claims, or any of claims 1 to 27, wherein the cartridge (130, 1030) is vertically oriented in relation to the battery or power source (160), and the outer shell (170) is a tube-like structure that allows removal of the removeable chassis (150) by pressing down on the tube (131) while pulling the outer shell (170) upwards.

A vaporization device (600, 800) of any of the preceding claims, or any of claims 1 to 28, wherein the cartridge (130) is horizontally oriented in relation to the battery or power source (160), and a pinching motion of the release arms A of the chassis (651) is required to detach the removeable chassis (650, 850) from the outer shell (670).

A vaporization device (1000) of any of the preceding claims, or any of claims 1 to 29, wherein the cartridge (1030) is vertically oriented in relation to the battery or power source (160), and the cartridge tank (1035) has release arms (1036) that unlocks when the mouthpiece (110) is removed, thus allowing the removeable chassis (150) to detach from the outer shell (1070) by using a pin to insert into the bottom hole of the outer shell (1074) to push the removeable chassis (150) up.
31. A vaporization device (1000) of any of the preceding claims, or any of claims 1 to 30, further comprising a charging port (162) at an opposite end of the mouthpiece end (113) for charging and air intake holes (174, 674) for entering air into the vaporization device (100, 600, 800, 1000).

A vaporization device (100, 600, 800, 1000) comprising:(a) an outer shell (170, 670, 1070) having a mouthpiece end (113), wherein the mouthpiece (110) is lockably attachable to a tube (131), a cartridge (130, 1030) or removable chassis (850),(b)(i) a tube (131) disposed within said cartridge (130), the tube (131) extending from a first end (133), and the mouthpiece (110) is lockably attached to the tube (131);(ii) the mouthpiece (110) to lockably attached to the cartridge (130), or(iii) the mouthpiece (110) to lockably attached to the removeable holder (850);(c) a heating unit (138, 838) disposed within said cartridge (130, 1030) and an Anode A (140) electrically coupled to said heating unit (138, 838);(d) a fluid reservoir (137, 837) disposed within said cartridge (130, 1030); and(e) a battery or power source (160) electrically coupled to the Anode B (155) disposed within a removable chassis (150, 650, 850).
33. The vaporization device (100, 600, 800, 1000) of claim 32, further comprising a charging port (162) at an opposite end of the mouthpiece end (113) for charging and air intake holes (174, 674) for entering air into the vaporization device (100, 600, 800, 1000).
