Description

LED LUMINAIRE POWER AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The invention relates to the field of power supply and communication technology over network cabling, more particularly to an LED luminaire power and communication system.BACKGROUND

[0002] Currently, the power supply and communication technology over network cabling, predominantly PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, is widely used in various fields. PoE is widely applied to the fields of, for example, surveillance devices and LED fixtures. It enables stable DC power delivery to some IP-based end devices, to ensure normal communication operations between the end devices and other external communication devices, without the need of any modification to existing Ethernet Cat. 5 cabling infrastructure. PoE, which allows the end devices to obtain stable power through PoE supply circuits, has provided a primary power supply technology specification for communication equipment.

[0003] However, PoE power sourcing equipment has a relatively high cost. Besides, according to PoE power supply standards, a single port of the PoE power sourcing equipment which supplies power to an end device can provide no more than 100W of power. Consequently, when the PoE power sourcing equipment is used for supplying power to an LED luminaire, due to the low power supplied by the port of PoE power sourcing equipment, the illuminance of the LED luminaire that is limited cannot meet the lighting requirements for higher illuminance, thereby causing inconvenience to the use of LED luminaires.SUMMARY

[0004] The disclosure provides an LED luminaire power and communication system, so as to solve the technical problem of lower power at the port of the PoE power sourcing device.

[0039] Compared with existing technologies, the embodiment of the disclosure has advantages as follows.

[0040] The disclosure provides the LED luminaire power and communication system which comprises the power sourcing device and the LED luminaire. The power sourcing device is connected to the LED luminaire through the network cable; wherein the maximum transmission voltage of each network cable is greater than the maximum transmission voltage of the POE power supply line; The LED luminaire is internally arranged with the MCU control member; The power sourcing device is configured to output external power to the LED luminaire to supply power to the LED luminaire and to transmit corresponding network signals to the MCU control member to enable network communication between the power sourcing device and the LED luminaire; The MCU control member is configured to control the input external power to supply power to the LED luminaire, and to receive network signals transmitted by the power sourcing device, to enable network communication with the power sourcing device.

[0041] In the LED luminaire power and communication system of the disclosure, the power sourcing device and the LED luminaire are connected through network cables. Without the limitation on the transmission voltage of power supply cables in the PoE power supply system, the disclosure makes it possible to select network cables with a maximum transmission voltage greater than that of a PoE power supply line to supply power for the LED luminaire. Thus, it allows the LED luminaire to have a maximum input power that exceeds the maximum power that can be supplied at the port of a PoE power supply system, thereby increasing the maximum input power of the LED luminaire. Hence, it achieves improvement of the maximum illumination intensity of the LED luminaire, meeting the lighting requirements for higher illuminance.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0072] The network signals, which are transmitted by the power sourcing device and transmitted from external to the first network transformer at the power input port of the LED luminaire, can be converted by the primary coil and further converted by the secondary coil into Ethernet signals. Subsequently, the signals are transmitted to the network chip, and the network chip forwards the signals to the MCU, to enable network communication between the power sourcing device and the LED luminaire.

[0073] In a preferred example, the power sourcing device is connected with the LED luminaire through a network cable comprises: one power supply port of the power sourcing device is connected successively with one power input port of each one of a plurality of LED luminaires through one network cable, or, two power supply ports of the power sourcing device are connected respectively with two power input ports of one LED luminaire through two network cables.

[0074] In a preferred example, the LED luminaire is provided with two ports. In the case that one power supply port of the power sourcing device is connected successively with one power input port of each one of the plurality of LED luminaires through one network cable, the two ports may serve as the power input port and the power supply port respectively. Herein, the power input port is configured to receive the external power and network signals output by the power sourcing device, and the power supply port is configured to output the external power and network signals to a power input port of a next LED luminaire.

[0075] In a preferred example, in the case that one power supply port of the power sourcing device is connected successively with a power input port of each one of the plurality of LED luminaires through one network cable, the power supply port of the LED luminaire is arranged with a second voltage and current detection member. The second voltage and current detection member is configured to detect, prior to output of the external power and network signals to the power input port of the next LED luminaire, whether current overload or voltage overload of the output external power occurs; The MCU control member is further configured to monitor the second voltage and current detection member, and to control the MOS transistor of the LED luminaire to cut off the output of the external power from the power supply port if the current overload or voltage overload of the external power is detected.

[0076] In a preferred embodiment, the power supply port of the LED luminaire is further arranged with a powering control member. The powering control member comprises a second network transformer. The second network transformer is configured: to perform primary coil conversion on the external power before the LED luminaire outputs the external power to a next LED luminaire, to enable the converted external power to be output to the power input port of the next LED luminaire; and to perform primary coil conversion and secondary coil conversion on the network signals respectively before the LED luminaire outputs the network signals to a next LED luminaire, to enable the converted network signals to be transmitted to the power input port of the next LED luminaire.

[0077] According to the LED luminaire power and communication system of the disclosure, the power sourcing device and the LED luminaire can be connected in two manners as follows.

[0078] (1) Please refer to FIG. 2, which is a schematic view illustrating a first connection means between the power sourcing device and the LED luminaires. According to the first connection means, one power supply port of the power sourcing device is connected successively with a power input port of each one of the plurality of LED luminaires through a single network cable.

[0079] Each LED luminaire has two RJ45 ports. According to this connection means, one of the two RJ45 ports serves as the power input port, and the other one serves as the power supply port. The power input port serves to receive power from the power sourcing device and supply power to the LED luminaire and handle network communication. The power supply port serves to cascade a next LED luminaire, outputting the external power received by the power input port to the next LED luminaire and sending network signals to the next luminaire.

[0080] According to the first connection mode, the power supply port of each LED luminaire is further arranged with a second voltage and current detection member and a powering control member, and a second network transformer is disposed in the powering control member.

[0081] Before one LED luminaire outputs the external power to the next LED luminaire, the external power is first input into the second voltage and current detection member at the power supply port, allowing circuits of the second voltage and current detection member to detect whether current overload or voltage overload of the external power occurs. If the current overload or voltage overload of the external power is detected, the MCU control member controls the MOS transistor of the LED luminaire to cut off the output of the external power at the power supply port. If neither current overload nor voltage overload is detected, the primary coil of the second network transformer performs primary conversion on the external power and then the power supply port outputs the external power. At the same time, the MCU control component forwards the network signals to the second network transformer at the power supply port. The network signals are converted by the secondary coil and converted by the primary coil and then transmitted to the next luminaire.

[0082] Please refer to FIG. 3, which is a CAD drawing of an LED luminaire for powering and to be powered according to the first connection means, and FIGs. 4-7, which are enlarged views for illustration of the members as shown in FIG. 3. Herein, FIG. 4 is a CAD drawing of a powering control member according to the first connection means; FIG. 5 is a CAD drawing of a powered control member according to the first connection means; FIG. 6 is a CAD drawing of a second voltage and current detection member according to the first connection means; FIG. 7 is a CAD drawing of a first voltage and current detection member according to the first connection means. According to the first connection means, the LED luminaire can utilize network cables exceeding CAT6 or CAT7 specifications, and utilize RJ45 ports, following the T-568B wiring standard. All four pairs of wires of a single network cable with wire sequences ranging from 1-8 are used for power supply. In particular, wires 1 and 2 are for negative power, wires 3 and 4 are for positive power, wires 5 and 6 are for positive power as well, and wires 7 and 8 are for negative power. Among these wires, the wires 1, 2, 3, and 4 are further used for network signal transmission.

[0083] For power transmission, the two RJ45 ports of the LED luminaire has cascading capability. One of the ports serves as the input port, and the other one serves as the output port. Furthermore, the input port is connected with the output port of another LED luminaire or the output port of the power sourcing device. Herein, the maximum input voltage of the input port is 56V, and the maximum output voltage for the output port is 56V as well. The maximum input power of the luminaire is 150W, and the maximum output power is 150W as well, both exceed that of PoE by 50W. Among the eight wires of the network cable used for power supply, each of the wires can carry a maximum current of 1A.

[0084] For network signal transmission, the network signals are input from the LED luminaire through its RJ45 input port, and are forwarded to the RJ45 output port of the LED luminaire by the network chip. The current flows in from the input port and flows out through the output port. Consequently, the cascade of the LED luminaires can be achieved.

[0085] In a preferred example, in the case that the two power supply ports of the power sourcing device are connected with the two power input ports of one LED luminaire through two network cables, both ports of the LED luminaire serve as the power input ports; and the power input ports are configured to receive external power and network signals output by the power sourcing device.

[0086] (2) Please refer to FIG. 8, which is a schematic view illustrating a second connection means between the power sourcing device and the LED luminaire. According to the second connection means, two power supply ports of the power sourcing device are respectively connected with two power input ports of one LED luminaire through two network cables.

[0087] According to the second connection means, the LED luminaire is provided with two RJ45 ports, both functioning as power input ports to receive power input but lacking the ability to supply power to other LED luminaires. Both power input ports enable network communication, with only one port automatically selected by the network chip to perform communication at a time.

[0088] Both power input ports of the LED luminaire are connected with the power sourcing device, and the power sourcing device supplies power to both power input ports of the LED luminaire simultaneously. The two power input ports of the LED luminaire are respectively arranged with two first network transformers. After entering the first network transformers at the power input port, the input power supply is converted by means of the primary coils of the first network transformers and then output from the center taps of the first network transformers. The power from both center taps of the two first network transformers is combined and then is detected by means of the first voltage and current detection member at the power supply port of the LED luminaire. The MCU control member of the LED luminaire controls the MOS transistor of the LED luminaire to cut off the powered circuit if the current overload or voltage overload is detected, and allows the external power to supply power to the LED luminaire if neither current overload nor voltage overload is detected. During transmission of the network signals, the network signals are input from the predetermined power input port, converted by the primary coils of the first network transformers and further converted by the secondary coil, and then output to the network chip of the LED luminaire.

[0089] Please refer to FIG. 9, which is a CAD drawing of an LED luminaire for powering and to be powered according to the second connection means, and FIGs. 10-13, which are enlarged views for illustration of the members as shown in FIG. 9. Herein, FIG. 10 is a CAD drawing of a powering control member according to the second connection means; FIG. 11 is a CAD drawing of a powered control member according to the second connection means; FIG. 12 is a CAD drawing of a second voltage and current detection member according to the second connection means; FIG. 13 is a CAD drawing of a first voltage and current detection member according to the second connection means. According to the second connection means, the LED luminaire can utilize network cables exceeding CAT6 or CAT7 specifications, and utilize RJ45 ports, following the T-568B wiring standard. Two network cables, totaling eight pairs of wires, are used for power supply. The wire sequence of each network cable ranges from 1-8, with wires 1 and 2 for negative power, wires 3 and 4 for positive power, wires 5 and 6 for positive power as well, and wires 7 and 8 for negative power. Among these wires, the wires 1, 2, 3, and 4 are further used for network signal transmission.

[0090] For power transmission, the LED luminaire has two RJ45 ports, both serving as the input ports and receiving power simultaneously. The two power sources are balanced by internal circuitry and combined into one, to supply power for the LED luminaire. The maximum input voltage of each port is 56V, the maximum input power is 150W, and the maximum input power of the LED is 300W. Due to the combined power of the two input ports, the power of the luminaire according to such connection means can triple in comparison with PoE.

[0091] For network signal transmission, both RJ45 ports of the LED luminaire enable network communication, and one of the ports can be automatically selected by the network chip to serve as the communication port.

[0092] In a preferred example, the first network transformer and the second network transformer are provided with primary coils. The first network transformer is configured to perform the primary coil conversion on the external power, comprising: inputting the external power from two ends of the primary coil and outputting it from the center tap of the primary coil after the primary coil conversion of the external power; The second network transformer is configured to perform the primary coil conversion on the external power, comprising: inputting the external power from the center tap of the primary coil and outputting it from two ends of the primary coil after the primary coil conversion of the external power.

[0093] In a preferred example, the first network transformer and the second network transformer are provided with secondary coils. The primary coil conversion and the secondary coil conversion for the network signals comprise: inputting the network signals from the primary coil, performing the primary coil conversion on the external power to generate corresponding magnetic flux that passes through the secondary coil, then performing the secondary coil conversion on the external power by the secondary coil, and then outputting network signals at a preset level.

[0094] Herein, during the primary coil conversion of external power by the network transformers, the primary coil conversion has a process as follows:

[0095] At the power supply port, the power is input from the center tap of the primary coil. Depending on the number of winding turns on both sides, the voltages at the two ends can be adjusted. Then, the voltage is output. The sum of the currents at the two ends equals the current at the center tap. At the power input port, the voltage is input from the two ends of the primary coil, and the voltage is output from the center tap. The sum of the currents at the two ends equals the current at the center tap. Through the primary coil conversion, the voltage conversion ratio of the external power can be adjusted to meet various voltage requirements.

[0096] In addition, as the network transformer performs primary coil conversion and secondary coil conversion on network signals respectively, the primary coil conversion aims to adjust the voltage conversion ratio of the power supply, while the secondary coil conversion aims to convert the network signal level to a level suitable for the chip, so as to achieve the conversion between different signal levels and impedances.

[0097] When the magnetic flux, which is generated by network signals passing through the primary coil, passes through the secondary coil, the secondary coil outputs a level suitable for the port of the network PHY chip. At the power output port, the power passes through the primary coil is input from the center tap of the primary coil and output from two ends of the primary coil. At the power input port, the power is input from two ends of the primary coil and output from the center tap. During this process, the voltages at the center tap and at the two ends of the primary coil are consistent.
