[0111] At least some of the above components can be interconnected and exchange signals (e.g., commands or data) with each other via a communication method between peripheral devices (e.g., a bus, GPIO (general purpose input and output), SPI (serial peripheral interface), or MIPI (mobile industry processor interface)).

[0112] According to one embodiment, commands or data may be transmitted or received between the electronic device (101) and an external electronic device (104) via a server (108) connected to a second network (199). Each of the external electronic devices (102 or 104) may be the same or a different type of device as the electronic device (101). According to one embodiment, all or part of the operations executed in the electronic device (101) may be executed in one or more of the external electronic devices (102, 104, or 108). For example, when the electronic device (101) is to perform a certain function or service automatically or in response to a request from a user or another device, the electronic device (101) may, instead of or in addition to executing the function or service itself, request one or more external electronic devices to perform the function or at least a part of the service. One or more external electronic devices that receive the request may execute at least a portion of the requested function or service, or an additional function or service related to the request, and transmit the result of the execution to the electronic device (101). The electronic device (101) may process the result as is or additionally and provide it as at least a portion of a response to the request. For this purpose, cloud computing, distributed computing, mobile edge computing (MEC), or client-server computing technology may be used, for example. The electronic device (101) may provide an ultra-low latency service by using distributed computing or mobile edge computing, for example. In another embodiment, the external electronic device (104) may include an Internet of Things (IoT) device. The server (108) may be an intelligent server utilizing machine learning and / or a neural network. According to one embodiment, the external electronic device (104) or the server (108) may be included in the second network (199).The electronic device (101) can be applied to intelligent services (e.g., smart home, smart city, smart car, or healthcare) based on 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology.

[0113] FIGS. 2A to 2G illustrate an example of a lock screen of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0114] The electronic device (101) of FIGS. 2A to 2G can be described with reference to the configurations of the electronic device (101) of FIG. 1.

[0115] Referring to state (201) of FIG. 2A, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen in a locked state through the display (260) (e.g., the display module (160) of FIG. 1). In one embodiment, the locked state may be a state in which access to the electronic device (101) is restricted. In one embodiment, restricted access to the electronic device (101) may include restricted execution of applications other than permitted applications. In one embodiment, restricted access to the electronic device (101) may include restricted display of information other than permitted information. In one embodiment, the lock screen may refer to a screen displayed on the display (260) in a locked state.

[0116] Referring to state (201) of FIG. 2A, the lock screen may include a background area (210). In one embodiment, a wallpaper (or background image) may be displayed in the background area (210). In one embodiment, the wallpaper displayed in the background area (210) of the lock screen may be a pre-designated image. In one embodiment, the wallpaper displayed in the background area (210) of the lock screen may be an image that changes according to the state of the electronic device (101). In one embodiment, the background area (210) may display a visual object (211) indicating a locked state (e.g., a lock image) and / or a visual object (213) indicating an input area (or an area where a sensor module (176) (e.g., a biometric sensor, a fingerprint sensor) is located) for obtaining an input (e.g., a fingerprint image) for unlocking the locked state.

[0117] In one embodiment, the lock screen may include a widget area (220). In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may display a widget for displaying information related to an application. In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may display a widget for displaying information (or notifications) generated by an application running (in the background). In one embodiment, widgets may be classified into information widgets, management widgets, or hybrid widgets for information and management. In one embodiment, the information widget may display information elements provided by an application associated with the widget (e.g., current weather, information on the currently playing song, number of steps, exercise time). In one embodiment, the management widget may display function elements provided by an application associated with the widget (e.g., play next song, pause, answer call, end call). For example, the electronic device (101) may control some functions of an application associated with the widget in response to a selection of a function element provided by the management widget. In one embodiment, a hybrid widget may display informational elements and functional elements provided by an application associated with the widget. For example, a widget may be referred to as a mini-application for an application associated with the widget.

[0118] For example, a widget may contain one or more objects to display application-generated information (or notifications). For example, the one or more objects may contain images and / or text.

[0119] In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may be located at a designated location on the lock screen. For example, the widget area (220) may be located between the first icon area (230) and the second icon area (240). For example, the distance between the widget area (220) and the first icon area (230) may be the same as the distance between the widget area (220) and the second icon area (240). In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may be located below the visual object (213) (or the input area). In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may be located so as not to overlap the visual object (213) (or the input area).

[0120] In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may have the same height as the first icon area (230). For example, the height length of the widget area (220) may be the same as the height length of the first icon area (230). For example, the horizontal line connecting the top (or bottom) of the widget area (220) may be the same as the horizontal line connecting the top (or bottom) of the first icon area (230).

[0121] In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may have the same height as the second icon area (240). For example, the height length of the widget area (220) may be the same as the height length of the second icon area (240). For example, the horizontal line connecting the top (or bottom) of the widget area (220) may be the same as the horizontal line connecting the top (or bottom) of the second icon area (240).

[0122] In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may be located at a relatively lower portion of the lock screen. For example, interactable objects (e.g., icon areas (230, 240)) and / or information elements (e.g., weather) displayed on the lock screen may be located at least on the same line as the widget area (220). For example, areas where interactable objects (e.g., icon areas (230, 240)) and / or information elements (e.g., weather) displayed on the lock screen may be displayed above a horizontal line connecting the bottom (or center) (or top) of the widget area (220). For example, areas where interactable objects (e.g., icon areas (230, 240)) and / or information elements (e.g., weather) displayed on the lock screen may not be displayed below a horizontal line connecting the bottom (or center) (or top) of the widget area (220). However, the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0123] In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may be positioned in a relatively central portion of the lock screen. For example, the widget area (220) may be positioned based on a vertical line connecting the centers of the lock screen. For example, the widget area (220) may be positioned so that the area to the left of the vertical line and the area to the right of the vertical line are the same. However, the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0124] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the widget area (220) and / or icon areas (230, 240) displayed on the lock screen based on an event.

[0125] For example, in state (202) of FIG. 2A, the electronic device (101) may display a widget of an application related to the first icon area (230) on the display (260) in a widget area (221) in which the first side (or left side) of the widget area (220) is expanded in the direction of the first icon area (230), based on an event generated from an application related to the first icon area (230).

[0126] For example, in state (203) of FIG. 2A, the electronic device (101) may display a widget of an application related to the second icon area (240) on the display (260) in a widget area (222) in which the second side (or right side) of the widget area (220) is expanded in the direction of the second icon area (240), based on an event generated from an application related to the second icon area (240).

[0127] For example, referring to states (201, 204) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (220) to a widget area (223) in which the top and sides of the widget area (220) are enlarged, based on a tap input (or double tap input) to the widget area (220). For example, referring to states (201, 204) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (223) to the widget area (220) based on a tap input (or double tap input) to an area other than the widget area (223).

[0128] For example, referring to states (204, 205) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (223) to a widget area (224) in which the upper part of the widget area (223) is enlarged, based on a tap input (or double tap input) to the widget area (223). For example, referring to states (204, 205) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (224) to the widget area (223) based on a tap input (or double tap input) to an area other than the widget area (224).

[0129] For example, referring to states (201, 205) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (220) to a widget area (224) in which the top and sides of the widget area (220) are enlarged based on a tap input (or double tap input) to the widget area (220). For example, referring to states (201, 205) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (224) to the widget area (220) based on a tap input (or double tap input) to an area other than the widget area (224).

[0130] In one embodiment, when the electronic device (101) is unlocked in each of the states (201, 204, 205) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may display a screen according to one of the states (1401, 1402) illustrated in FIG. 14A. For example, when the electronic device (101) is unlocked in each of the states (201, 204, 205) of FIG. 2B, the electronic device (101) may display a screen (5712) according to the state (5702) illustrated in FIG. 57A.

[0131] For example, referring to state (206) of FIG. 2c, the electronic device (101) can move the widget area (220) based on the direction and distance corresponding to the swipe input (251) during a swipe input (251) for the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) can display the moved widget area (220) at its original location based on the swipe input (251) being released.

[0132] For example, referring to state (207) of FIG. 2d, when the number of widgets that can be displayed in the widget area (220) is two or more, the electronic device (101) can display widget areas (261, 265) indicating that there are widgets with the next priority. For example, referring to state (208) of FIG. 2d, the electronic device (101) can move the widget area (220) and the widget areas (261, 265) based on the direction and distance corresponding to the swipe input (252) during the swipe input (252) for the widget area (220). The distance by which the widget areas (261, 265) are moved may be shorter than the distance by which the widget area (220) is moved. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the widget area (220) in a layer following the widget areas (261, 265) based on the release of the swipe input (252). For example, based on the release of the swipe input (252), the electronic device (101) may display the widget area (220) so that the widget area (220) is covered by the widget areas (261, 265). For example, based on the release of the swipe input (252), the electronic device (101) may display the widget area (261) with the next priority at the front. Displaying the widget area (261) at the front may include displaying the widget area (261) at the location of the widget area (220) before the swipe input (252).

[0133] For example, referring to states (207, 209) of FIG. 2E, the electronic device (101) may display a screen according to AoD (always on display) based on a specified condition. For example, referring to state (209) of FIG. 2E, the screen according to AoD may be a screen for low-power operation of the electronic device (101). The screen according to AoD may include a background screen of a specified color (e.g., black). The screen according to AoD may not display icon areas (230, 240). The screen according to AoD may display only one widget area (220) having the highest priority among the widget areas (220, 261, 265). In one embodiment, the low-power operation of the electronic device (101) may include the processor (120) of the electronic device (101) being operated in a low-power state (e.g., the operating frequency of the processor (120) is lowered and / or some of the processors (120) enter a sleep state). In one embodiment, the low-power operation of the electronic device (101) may include the display (260) of the electronic device (101) being operated in a low-power state (e.g., the screen refresh cycle displayed on the display (260) is lengthened and / or the brightness of the display (260) is reduced).

[0134] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, while displaying a screen according to AoD, update a widget displayed in the widget area (220) in the same manner as the refresh cycle of the screen according to AoD. For example, if the refresh cycle of the screen according to AoD is 1 minute, the electronic device (101) may display information updated every minute in the widget area (220). For example, if the application displayed in the widget area (220) is a timer, the time displayed in the widget area (220) may be displayed in the same manner (e.g., 3 minutes 35 seconds is displayed during the refresh cycle (e.g., 1 minute)) while the screen according to AoD is not updated. Alternatively, for example, if the application displayed in the widget area (220) includes visual information, the electronic device (101) may only display information indicating that the application is running, instead of displaying visual information in the widget area (220) of the screen according to AoD.

[0135] According to an embodiment, the electronic device (101) may set different refresh cycles for widgets displayed in the widget area (220) while displaying a screen according to AoD (hereinafter, referred to as the AoD screen). For example, the electronic device (101) may refresh the AoD screen at a relatively short cycle for a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the relatively short cycle may be shorter than the standard refresh cycle of the AoD screen (e.g., 1 minute). For example, the relatively short cycle may be based on time-related information displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen. For example, when the smallest unit of time expression in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen is seconds, the electronic device (101) may refresh the widget area (220) within the AoD screen at 1-second intervals for a specified time. For example, if the time unit in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen is in milliseconds, the electronic device (101) can update the widget area (220) within the AoD screen in milliseconds for a specified period of time. For example, if the time unit in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen is in milliseconds, the electronic device (101) can stop (or delete) the display of milliseconds when transitioning from the lock screen to the AoD screen.

[0136] For example, the electronic device (101) may refresh the AoD screen at a relatively long interval after a specified period of time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) has elapsed after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the relatively long interval may be the same as the standard refresh cycle of the AoD screen. For example, when the standard refresh cycle of the AoD screen is 1 minute, the electronic device (101) may refresh the widget area (220) within the AoD screen at 1-minute intervals.

[0137] According to an embodiment, the electronic device (101) may simplify (or abbreviate) visual information within a widget displayed in the widget area (220) while displaying the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may determine visual information to be displayed in a widget based on an update cycle for the widget displayed in the widget area (220) while displaying the AoD screen. For example, when the AoD screen (or widget) is updated at a relatively short cycle, the electronic device (101) may display visual information including a time unit corresponding to the short cycle in the widget displayed in the widget area (220). For example, when the AoD screen (or widget) is updated at a relatively long cycle, the electronic device (101) may display visual information including a time unit corresponding to the long cycle in the widget displayed in the widget area (220).

[0138] For example, the electronic device (101) may update the time expression within the widget while refreshing the AoD screen at a relatively short interval (e.g., in seconds or milliseconds) for a specified period of time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching to the AoD screen. For example, the time expression may include a time expression that includes a second unit (e.g., 36 seconds). For example, the time expression may include a time expression that includes a second unit and a minute unit (e.g., 3 minutes 36 seconds). For example, the time expression may include a time expression that includes a second unit and a minute unit or more units (e.g., 1 hour 3 minutes 36 seconds, 1 day 3 minutes 36 seconds, etc.). For example, updating the time expression may include that the time expression indicates the passage of time. For example, updating a time representation may involve changing a time representation of 3 minutes and 35 seconds to a time representation of 3 minutes and 36 seconds one second later.

[0139] For example, the electronic device (101) may display and / or update a simplified time representation while refreshing the AoD screen at a relatively long interval after a specified period of time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) has elapsed after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. The simplified time representation may include omitting time representations in seconds. In one embodiment, the simplified time representation may include replacing the representations of some time units with a specific representation (e.g., “--”) while maintaining the format of the time representation. For example, updating the simplified time representation may include changing the time representation of 3 minutes 35 seconds to the time representation of 3 minutes --seconds at the next update. For example, “-seconds” may include not displaying the time in seconds (or replacing it with a specific representation). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. The simplified time representation may include omitting time representations in units greater than seconds.

[0140] For example, when health information including exercise time (e.g., hh:mm:ss format) and distance (e.g., 1.50 km) is displayed in the widget area (220) within the lock screen, the electronic device (101) can update the exercise time (e.g., hh:mm:ss format) and distance (e.g., 1.50 km) in real time. For example, while displaying health information in the widget area (220) within the lock screen, the electronic device (101) can update the time expression in the hh:mm:ss format in seconds (e.g., ss). For example, while displaying health information in the widget area (220) within the lock screen, the electronic device (101) can update the distance expression in meters in the distance format in units of 0.01 kilometers.

[0141] For example, when health information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen, the electronic device (101) can update the exercise time (e.g., hh:mm:ss format) and distance (e.g., 1.50 km) in real time (or at relatively short intervals) for a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) can update the time expression in the hh:mm:ss format in units of seconds (e.g., ss) while the health information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) can update the distance expression in units of meters in the distance format in units of 0.01 kilometers while the health information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen.

[0142] For example, when health information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen, the electronic device (101) may update the exercise time (e.g., hh:mm:ss format) and distance (e.g., 1.50 km) at a relatively long interval after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the exercise time (e.g., hh:mm:ss format) and distance (e.g., 1.50 km) in a simplified manner after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, while the electronic device (101) displays the AoD screen after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute), the electronic device (101) may change the expression of seconds (e.g., ss) in the time expression in the hh:mm:ss format to "--" and update it in units of 1 minute (or a standard update cycle). For example, while the electronic device (101) displays the AoD screen after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute), the electronic device (101) may update the expression of distance in meters in the distance format in units of 1 minute (or a standard update cycle).

[0143] For example, when stopwatch information including time (e.g., mm:ss:ms format) is displayed in the widget area (220) within the lock screen, the electronic device (101) can update the time (e.g., mm:ss:ms format) in real time. For example, the electronic device (101) can update the time expression in mm:ss:ms format in millisecond units while displaying the stopwatch information in the widget area (220) within the lock screen.

[0144] For example, when stopwatch information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen, the electronic device (101) may update the time (e.g., mm:ss:ms format) at relatively short intervals for a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may delete (or change to an alternative expression (e.g., "--")) the millisecond unit (e.g., ms) in the time expression in the mm:ss:ms format while stopwatch information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may update the time expression in the mm:ss:ms format to the second unit (e.g., ss) while stopwatch information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen.

[0145] For example, when stopwatch information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen, the electronic device (101) may update the time (e.g., in mm:ss:ms format) at a relatively long interval after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the time (e.g., in mm:ss:ms format) in a simplified manner after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may delete (or change to an alternative expression (e.g., "--")) the millisecond unit (e.g., ms) in the time expression in mm:ss:ms format while displaying the AoD screen after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute). For example, the electronic device (101) may change the time expression in seconds (e.g., ss) in the format mm:ss:ms to “--” while displaying the AoD screen after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute), and update it in units of 1 minute (or a standard update cycle).

[0146] For example, when timer information including time (e.g., in ss:ms format) is displayed in the widget area (220) within the lock screen, the electronic device (101) can update the time (e.g., in ss:ms format) in real time. For example, the electronic device (101) can update the time expression in ss:ms format in seconds while displaying the timer information in the widget area (220) within the lock screen.

[0147] For example, when timer information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen, the electronic device (101) can update the time (e.g., in ss:ms format) at relatively short intervals for a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) can update the time expression in ss:ms format in units of seconds (e.g., ss) while timer information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen.

[0148] For example, when timer information is displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen, the electronic device (101) may update the time (e.g., in ss:ms format) at a relatively long interval after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the time (e.g., in ss:ms format) in a simplified manner after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) after switching from the lock screen to the AoD screen. For example, while displaying the AoD screen after a specified time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute), the electronic device (101) may change the time expression in seconds (e.g., ss) in ss:ms format to "--" and update at 1-minute intervals (or a standard update cycle).

[0149] For example, referring to states (209, 271) of FIG. 2F, the electronic device (101) may, while displaying a screen according to AoD, display a screen including a list (281) of one or more notifications and visual objects (282, 283) for settings related to the notifications based on an input (253) (e.g., a swipe input at a designated location). The screen including the list (281) and the visual objects (282, 283) may not display the widget area (220), the first icon area (230), and the second icon area (240). The screen including the list (281) and the visual objects (282, 283) may be distinguished from a screen displayed while the electronic device (101) is operating in a low power state. For example, the screen including the list (281) and visual objects (282, 283) may be a screen displayed while the electronic device (101) is operating in a normal power state. For example, the screen including the list (281) and visual objects (282, 283) may be a screen other than the AoD screen displayed while the electronic device (101) is in a locked state.

[0150] In one embodiment, the icon areas (230, 240) may display visual objects (or images) (or user interfaces (UIs)) (or shortcuts) representing related applications. In one embodiment, the icon areas (230, 240) may display information (or notifications) generated by the related applications. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may execute a function of an application related to the icon areas (230, 240) based on an input to the icon areas (230, 240). For example, referring to FIG. 2g, when the first icon area (230) is related to a phone application, the electronic device (101) may display a screen of the phone application based on an input (e.g., a touch input) to the first icon area (230). In state (1403), after a widget is displayed in the widget area (1422) for a specified period of time, the widget area (1422) may be changed to the widget area (1420).

[0279] For example, referring to state (1404-1) of FIG. 14B, the electronic device (101) may move the widget area (1423) based on the direction and distance corresponding to the swipe input (251) during a swipe input (251) for the widget area (1423). For example, the electronic device (101) may display the moved widget area (1423) at its original location based on the swipe input (251) being released.

[0280] For example, referring to state (1405) of FIG. 14c, when the number of widgets that can be displayed in the widget area (1423) is two or more, the electronic device (101) can display widget areas (1461, 1465) indicating that there are widgets with the next priority. For example, referring to state (1406) of FIG. 14c, the electronic device (101) can move the widget area (1423) and the widget areas (1461, 1465) based on the direction and distance corresponding to the swipe input (1452) during the swipe input (1452) for the widget area (1423). The distance by which the widget areas (1461, 1465) are moved may be shorter than the distance by which the widget area (1423) is moved. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the widget area (1423) in a layer following the widget areas (1461, 1465) based on the release of the swipe input (1452). For example, based on the release of the swipe input (1452), the electronic device (101) may display the widget area (1423) such that the widget area (1423) is covered by the widget areas (1461, 1465). For example, based on the release of the swipe input (1452), the electronic device (101) may display the widget area (1461) with the next priority at the front. Displaying the widget area (1461) at the front may include displaying the widget area (1461) at the location of the widget area (1423) before the swipe input (1452).

[0281] After the widget (1421) is displayed, if the electronic device (101) is unlocked, the area where information of the application indicated by the widget (1421) is displayed may be reduced. For example, in the unlocked state (1401), the information may be displayed together with other objects within the notification area (1411). In the unlocked state (1401), a screen other than the lock screen (e.g., a home screen, an application screen, or an apps screen) may be displayed in the background area (1410) of the display (260). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. In the state (1402), after the widget (1421) is displayed for a specified period of time, the area where information of the application indicated by the widget (1421) is displayed may be reduced. For example, in the state (1401), the information may be displayed together with other objects within the notification area (1411).

[0282] In state (1401), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input for selecting an icon representing an application running in the background in the notification area (1411). In one embodiment, based on the input for selecting an icon in state (1403), the electronic device (101) may enlarge and display a widget (1420). After the widget (1421) is displayed, if the electronic device (101) is unlocked, the area where information of the application represented by the widget (1421) is displayed may be reduced.

[0283] In state (1403), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input for selecting an area other than the widget area (1422). In one embodiment, based on the input for selecting an area other than the widget area (1422) in state (1403), the electronic device (101) may display information displayed in the widget area (1422) together with other objects within the notification area (1411).

[0284] In states (1401, 1402), the electronic device (101) may obtain a new notification from the application. In one embodiment, based on the new notification in states (1401, 1402), the electronic device (101) may display a widget representing the new notification in the widget area (1420, 1421).

[0285] In states (1401, 1402, 1403, 1404), the electronic device (101) may be changed to a locked state. For example, in states (1401, 1402, 1403, 1404), the electronic device (101) may be changed to a locked state based on a user input requesting a locked state. For example, in states (1401, 1402, 1403, 1404), the electronic device (101) may be changed to a locked state based on no user input being input for a specified period of time.

[0286] Based on the change from the unlocked states (1401, 1402, 1403, 1404) to the locked state, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen in the locked state (401). For example, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen including a background area (210) in which a wallpaper (or background image) is displayed, icon areas (230, 240), and a widget area (220). In one embodiment, information related to a timer displayed in the notification area (1411) (or widget area (1420)) in the unlocked state may be displayed in the widget area (220).

[0287] In state (401), the electronic device (101) can change the widget area (220) (or display area) (or size) in the locked state based on an input (411) to the widget area (220).

[0288] As described above, the electronic device (101) can position the widget providing information to the user at the top or bottom depending on the locked and / or unlocked states. Accordingly, the electronic device (101) can position the widget providing information in a location that is easily recognizable to the user in the locked state and does not restrict the user's usability in the unlocked state.

[0289] FIG. 15 illustrates an example of a change in a widget indicating a notification on a screen displayed by an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0291] Referring to FIG. 15, in state (1501), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input related to the widget area (1422) (or a widget displayed in the widget area (1422)). For example, the electronic device (101) may obtain a swipe input (or a drag input) (or a flick input) (or a pan input) (or a slide input) for the widget area (1422). For example, the electronic device (101) may obtain an upward input in the widget area (1422).

[0292] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change the application that generates information displayed by a widget displayed in the widget area (1422) based on an input related to the widget area (1422). For example, the electronic device (101) may change the application that generates information to be displayed in the widget area (1422) based on the order of applications that can display information in the widget area (1422). For example, based on the application in the order following the timer, the electronic device (101) may determine the application that generates information displayed in the widget area (1422). In state (1505), the electronic device (101) may determine the recording application as the application that displays information in the widget area (1422).

[0293] Referring to FIG. 15, in state (1505), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input related to the widget area (1422) (or a widget displayed in the widget area (1422)). For example, the electronic device (101) may obtain a swipe input (or a drag input) (or a flick input) (or a pan input) (or a slide input) for the widget area (1422). For example, the electronic device (101) may obtain a downward input in the widget area (1422).

[0294] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change the application that generates information to be displayed in the widget area (1422) based on an input related to the widget area (1422). For example, the electronic device (101) may change the application that generates information to be displayed in the widget area (1422) based on the order of applications that can display information in the widget area (1422). For example, based on the application in the next order of a recording application, the electronic device (101) may determine the application that generates information to be displayed in the widget area (1422). For example, the electronic device (101) may determine a timer that has the next order of a recording application as the application that displays information in the widget area (1422).

[0295] As described above, the electronic device (101) can provide the user with notifications (or information) of ongoing activities (or running applications) in an unlocked state. [0339] In operation 2150, the electronic device (101) may display an unchanged widget on the screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may display information about the widget in the widget area (220) while maintaining the size of the widget area (220) where the widget is displayed. For example, the electronic device (101) may change the wallpaper of the background area (210) while maintaining the display of the widget (e.g., displaying information about music currently being played).

[0340] FIG. 22A illustrates an example of switching between widgets on a screen displayed by an electronic device, according to one embodiment.

[0341] FIG. 22a can be explained with reference to FIG. 1, FIG. 2a to FIG. 2g, FIG. 14a to FIG. 14c, FIG. 15, FIG. 16, FIG. 17, and FIG. 18.

[0342] FIG. 22a illustrates states (2211, 2213, 2215, 2217) while a widget displayed in a widget area (e.g., widget area (1422) of FIG. 14a) is changed.

[0343] For example, state (2211) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) identifies an input (2212) for selecting a widget (2221). In state (2211), the widget (2221) may be displayed on the top of the background area (2201) (e.g., widget area (1422) of FIG. 14A). In one embodiment, the background area (2201) may display a screen other than a lock screen (e.g., a home screen, an application screen, or an apps screen).

[0344] In one embodiment, in state (2211), the electronic device (101) can display another widget (2222) for another application running (in the background or foreground) in a surrounding area of the widget (2221). In one embodiment, the other widget (2222) can be displayed in the background area (2201) with at least a portion of the widget (2221) obscured. In one embodiment, the other application can be an application having a display order following that of the application for the widget (2221). For example, the display order can be the order of applications that can display widgets in an area where the widget area (1422) of FIG. 14A is displayed.

[0345] For example, state (2213) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) identifies an additional input (2214) that is subsequent to input (2212). In one embodiment, input (2212) and additional input (2214) may include an input (e.g., a swipe input, a drag input, a flick input, a pan input, or a slide input) for changing a widget displayed in a widget area (1422).

[0346] In one embodiment, in state (2213), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2221) based on the movement direction of the additional input (2214) for the widget (2221). In one embodiment, in state (2213), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2221) downward as the additional input (2214) for the widget (2221) moves downward. As the display position of the widget (2221) moves, another widget (2222) can be displayed in the background area (2201) in an exposed state. As the display position of the widget (2221) moves out of the widget area, another widget (2222) of the application having the following display order can be exposed. As the display position of the widget (2221) moves out of the widget area (e.g., widget area (1422) of FIG. 14a), another widget (2222) located in the widget area may be displayed in the background area (2201) in an exposed state.

[0347] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the display order of the widget (2221) based on whether the additional input (2214) satisfies a specified condition for changing the display order. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the display order of the application for the widget (2221) to the last order based on whether the additional input (2214) satisfies a specified condition for changing the display order. For example, the electronic device (101) can identify that the specified change condition is met when the additional input (2214) moves more than a specified distance and / or when the movement speed of the additional input (2214) exceeds a specified movement speed.

[0348] In one embodiment, in state (2213), the electronic device (101) can identify that the input to the widget (2221) is released. In one embodiment, in state (2213), the electronic device (101) can identify that the input to the widget (2221) is released after changing the display order of the widget (2221).

[0349] For example, state (2215) may illustrate a situation where, upon release of an input to change a widget, the electronic device (101) applies a graphic effect to the widget (2221) to display the widget (2222) in the widget area (1422) instead of the widget (2221).

[0350] In one embodiment, in state (2215), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2221) based on identifying that the input (2212) for selecting the widget (2221) is released. In one embodiment, in state (2215), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2221) based on identifying that the input (2212) is released after changing the display order of the widget (2221). For example, in state (2215), the electronic device (101) can move the widget (2221) so that the widget (2221) is located in the widget area.

[0351] In one embodiment, in state (2215), the electronic device (101) can change the display of the widget (2221) and / or the widget (2222). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the color and / or size of the widget (2221). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the color of the widget (2221) to a dark color (e.g., gray) or a dark tone. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2221) to be smaller than the size corresponding to the widget area. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2221) so that a graphic effect of shrinking the widget (2221) or a graphic effect of moving the widget (2221) away is applied. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2222). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2222) to a size corresponding to the widget area. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2222) so that a graphic effect that enlarges the widget (2222) or a graphic effect that approaches the widget (2222) is applied. However, the graphic effects applied to the widgets (2221, 2222) are not limited thereto.

[0352] For example, state (2217) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) displays a widget (2222) in an area instead of a widget (2221) as an input to change a widget is released. In one embodiment, in state (2217), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2221) in the background area (2201) such that the widget (2221) is at least partially obscured by another widget (2222).

[0353] FIG. 22b illustrates an example of switching between widgets on a lock screen of an electronic device, according to one embodiment.

[0354] FIG. 22b can be explained with reference to FIG. 1, FIG. 2a to FIG. 2g, and FIG. 3.

[0355] FIG. 22b illustrates states (2231, 2233, 2235, 2237) while a widget displayed in a widget area (e.g., the widget area (220) illustrated in FIGS. 2a to 2g) is changed.

[0356] For example, state (2231) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) identifies an input (2232) for selecting a widget (2241). In state (2231), the widget (2241) may be displayed at the bottom of the background area (2205) (e.g., widget area (220)). In one embodiment, the background area (2205) may display a lock screen.

[0357] In one embodiment, in state (2231), the electronic device (101) can display another widget (2242) for another application running (in the background or foreground) in a surrounding area of the widget (2241). In one embodiment, the other widget (2242) can be displayed in the background area (2205) with at least a portion of the widget (2241) obscured. In one embodiment, the other application can be an application having a display order following that of the application for the widget (2241). For example, the display order can be the order of applications that can display widgets in the widget area (220).

[0358] For example, state (2233) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) identifies an additional input (2234) that is subsequent to input (2232). In one embodiment, input (2232) and additional input (2234) may include an input (e.g., a swipe input, a drag input, a flick input, a pan input, or a slide input) for changing a widget displayed in the widget area (220).

[0359] In one embodiment, in state (2233), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2241) based on the movement direction of the additional input (2234) for the widget (2241). In one embodiment, in state (2233), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2241) upward as the additional input (2234) for the widget (2241) moves upward. As the display position of the widget (2241) moves, another widget (2242) can be displayed in an exposed state in the background area (2205). As the display position of the widget (2241) moves out of the widget area, another widget (2242) of the application having the following display order can be exposed. As the display position of the widget (2241) moves out of the widget area (220), another widget (2242) located in the widget area (220) may be displayed in the background area (2205) in an exposed state.

[0360] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the display order of the widget (2241) based on whether the additional input (2234) satisfies a specified condition for changing the display order. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the display order of the application for the widget (2241) to the last order based on whether the additional input (2234) satisfies a specified condition for changing the display order. For example, the electronic device (101) can identify that the specified change condition is met when the additional input (2234) moves more than a specified distance and / or when the movement speed of the additional input (2234) exceeds a specified movement speed.

[0361] In one embodiment, at state (2233), the electronic device (101) can identify that the input to the widget (2241) is released. In one embodiment, at state (2233), the electronic device (101) can identify that the input to the widget (2241) is released after changing the display order of the widget (2241).

[0362] For example, state (2235) may illustrate a situation where, as the input to change the widget is released, the electronic device (101) applies a graphic effect to the widget (2241) to display the widget (2242) in the area (220) instead of the widget (2241).

[0363] In one embodiment, in state (2235), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2241) based on identifying that the input (2232) for selecting the widget (2241) is released. In one embodiment, in state (2235), the electronic device (101) can move the display position of the widget (2241) based on identifying that the input (2232) is released after changing the display order of the widget (2241). For example, in state (2235), the electronic device (101) can move the widget (2242) so that the widget (2242) is located in the widget area (220).

[0364] In one embodiment, in state (2235), the electronic device (101) can change the display of the widget (2241) and / or the widget (2242). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the color and / or size of the widget (2241). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the color of the widget (2241) to a dark color (e.g., gray) or a dark tone. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2241) to be smaller than the size corresponding to the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2242). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2242) to a size corresponding to the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the size of the widget (2242) so that a graphic effect that is enlarged to the widget (2242) or a graphic effect that is approaching the widget (2242) is applied. However, the graphic effect applied to the widget (2242) is not limited thereto.

[0365] For example, state (2237) may illustrate a situation where the electronic device (101) displays a widget (2242) instead of a widget (2241) in the area (220) as the input to change the widget is released.

[0366] In one embodiment, in state (2237), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2241) in the background area (2205) such that the widget (2241) is at least partially obscured by another widget (2242).

[0367] FIG. 22c illustrates an example of a change in a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device, according to one embodiment.

[0368] FIG. 22c can be explained with reference to FIGS. 1, 2a to 2g, 3, and 4.

[0369] FIG. 22c illustrates states (2251, 2253, 2255, 2257) while a widget displayed in a widget area (e.g., the widget area (220) illustrated in FIGS. 2a to 2g) is being expanded.

[0370] For example, state (2251) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) identifies an input (2252) for selecting a widget (2241). In state (2251), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2241) at the bottom of the background area (2205) (e.g., widget area (220)). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display another widget (2242) for another running application in the background area (2205) with at least a portion of the widget (2241) obscured.

[0371] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can obtain an input (2252) (e.g., a tap input, a double tap input, a press input, or a long press input) for the widget (2241).

[0372] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the display of the widget (2241) based on an input (2252) to the widget (2241). For example, the electronic device (101) can enlarge the widget (2241) based on the input (2252).

[0373] For example, states (2253, 2255) may illustrate intermediate situations in which the electronic device (101) enlarges the widget (2241). In one embodiment, in order to display the widget (2241) in an enlarged state, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) may change the arrangement of objects (2261, 2262, 2263) included in the widget (2241). For example, in order to display the widget (2241) in an enlarged state, the electronic device (101) may change the size and / or position of objects (2261, 2262, 2263) included in the widget (2241). In one embodiment, the object (2261) may be an image representing an application or content of an application associated with the widget (2241). The object (2262) may be text representing an application or content of an application associated with the widget (2241). The object (2263) may be an executable object for controlling a functional element (e.g., playing the next song, pausing, answering a call, hanging up a call) provided by the application associated with the widget (2241).

[0374] For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can move upward while enlarging the size of an object (2261) included in a widget (2241). For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can move an object (2261) included in a widget (2241) to a position separate from other objects (2262, 2263).

[0375] For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can move upward while enlarging the size of the object (2262) included in the widget (2241). For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can move the position of the object (2262) while enlarging the size of the text included in the object (2262). For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can increase the amount of information included in the object (2262) (e.g., to include more text) while moving the position of the object (2262).

[0376] For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can move upward while enlarging the size of the object (2263) included in the widget (2241). For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can increase the number of executable objects for controlling the functional elements included in the object (2263) while moving the position of the object (2263). For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) can display more executable objects for controlling the functional elements included around the object (2263) while moving the position of the object (2263).

[0377] For example, in states (2253, 2255), the electronic device (101) may display a wall paper (2207) corresponding to the widget (2241) in the background area (2205). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the wall paper (2207) on top of (e.g., in a preceding layer) the wall paper displayed in the background area (2205).

[0378] For example, state (2257) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) displays the widget (2241) in an enlarged state.

[0379] In one embodiment, the screen (2207) may be displayed by overlapping the screen displayed in the background area (2205) through the states (2251, 2253, 2255, 2257). The screen (2207) may gradually become clearer through the states (2251, 2253, 2255, 2257), and the screen displayed in the background area (2205) may gradually become fainter.

[0380] FIG. 22d illustrates an example of a change in a widget for notification on a screen displayed by an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0381] FIG. 22d can be explained with reference to FIGS. 1, 2a to 2g, 14a to 14c, 15, 16, 17, and 18.

[0382] FIG. 22d illustrates states (2271, 2273, 2275, 2277, 2279) while a widget displayed in at least one area (e.g., widget area (1420)) of the widget areas (1420, 1421, 1422, 1423) illustrated in FIG. 14a is being changed.

[0383] For example, state (2271) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) identifies an event for changing a widget (2281) displayed in a widget area. In state (2271), the widget (2281) may be displayed at the top of the background area (2201) (e.g., the notification area (1411)). In one embodiment, the background area (2201) may display a screen other than a lock screen (e.g., a home screen, an application screen, or an apps screen).

[0384] In one embodiment, in state (2271), the electronic device (101) can identify information (or notification) generated by an application running (in the background). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change a widget (2281) displayed in a widget area (e.g., widget area (1420)) based on the identification of the notification. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can display a widget (2282) that generated the notification in the widget area (e.g., widget area (1420)). For example, state (2271) can be a state in which, in a state in which a timer application and a recording application are running in the background, a widget (2281) of a recording application is displayed over a widget (2282) of the timer application in the widget area (1420). In state (2271), when receiving a new notification (or update information) (e.g., a notification that 5 seconds are left until expiration) from the timer app, the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2282) of the timer application in the widget area (1420) in a state overlaid on the widget (2281) of the recording application through states (2273 to 2279).

[0385] For example, in states (2273, 2275), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2282) so that the widget (2282) that generated the notification is exposed behind the widget (2281). For example, in state (2273), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2282) by moving it in a specified direction (e.g., to the right) while overlapping the widget (2282) behind the widget (2281).

[0386] For example, in states (2275, 2277), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2282) so that the widget (2282) that generated the notification is overlapped in front of the widget (2281). For example, in state (2277), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (2282) by moving the widget (2282) in the opposite direction (e.g., to the left) of the specified direction while the widget (2282) is overlapped in front of the widget (2281).

[0387] For example, state (2279) may illustrate a situation in which the electronic device (101) displays a widget (2282) instead of a widget (2281) in the widget area (1420). In one embodiment, in state (2279), the electronic device (101) may display a widget (2282) instead of a widget (2281) in the background area (2201).

[0388] FIG. 23A illustrates an example of a change in a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device according to an embodiment. FIG. 23B illustrates an example of a change in a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device according to an embodiment.

[0389] FIGS. 23a and 23b can be described with reference to FIGS. 1, 2a to 2g, 5, and 6.

[0390] Fig. 23a illustrates states (2301 to 2305) while a widget displayed in a widget area (220) changes according to an event. Fig. 23a illustrates states (2305 to 2307) while a function related to a widget displayed in a widget area (220) is controlled. Fig. 23b illustrates states (2308, 2351, 2352, 2353) while a widget displayed in a widget area (220) changes according to an event.

[0391] For example, states (2301, 2302) may represent a situation in which the electronic device (101) is in a locked state and displays a widget in the widget area (220). The electronic device (101) may display information about content being played through the widget area (220). Referring to states (2301, 2302), as the content is played, the display of an object (2311) representing information about the content being played may change. For example, the name of the content being played may move in a specified direction (e.g., to the left) within the area of the object (2311).

[0392] For example, states (2302, 2304, 2305) may represent situations in which the electronic device (101) is in a locked state and changes the widget displayed in the widget area (220) as an event is identified. In one embodiment, the event may be an event indicating that a call request is received from a phone application.

[0393] For example, in states (2302, 2303), the electronic device (101) may stop playback of content based on an event. For example, the electronic device (101) may change the display of a visual object (2313) related to playback of content to a visual object (2315) indicating that playback has stopped, along with stopping playback of content based on the event.

[0394] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display, based on an event, a widget of an application that generated the event in a widget area (220).

[0395] For example, in states (2303, 2304), the electronic device (101) may change the visual objects displayed in the icon areas (230, 240). For example, the electronic device (101) may display a visual object related to the application that generated the event (e.g., a visual object for approving a call request and a visual object for rejecting a call request) in the icon areas (230, 240).

[0396] For example, in states (2303, 2304, 2305), the electronic device (101) can change the widget displayed in the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) can move a widget (2323) related to an event above the widget (2321) in a specified direction (e.g., downward) while moving a widget (2321) related to content playback in a specified direction.

[0397] For example, states (2305, 2306, 2307, 2308) may represent situations in which the electronic device (101) is in a locked state and controls a functional element (e.g., answering a call, hanging up a call) provided by a widget displayed in the widget area (220).

[0398] In one embodiment, in state (2305), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input for approving a call request. For example, the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (e.g., a swipe input, a drag input, a flick input, a pan input, or a slide input) to the first icon area (230) for approving the call request. For example, the input for approving the call request may be an input (e.g., a swipe input, a drag input, a flick input, a pan input, or a slide input) moving in a direction from the first icon area (230) to the widget area (220) (or, the second icon area (240)).

[0399] In one embodiment, in states (2306), upon input for approving a call request, a visual object displayed in a first icon area (230) may be enlarged in the direction of the input within an area (2330) including a first icon area (230) and a widget area (220) (e.g., widget area (510) of FIG. 5).

[0400] In one embodiment, in state (2307), upon input for approving a call request, visual objects (2341, 2343, 2345) may be displayed in area (2330). In one embodiment, visual object (2341) may be an image of the user who initiated the call request. Visual object (2343) may be a name indicating the user who initiated the call request. Visual object (2345) may indicate the connection time of the call.

[0401] In one embodiment, in state (2308), during a call connection (or while a visual object related to a call is displayed in area (2330)), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (e.g., an input to the second icon area (240)) to end the phone call.

[0402] In one embodiment, in states (2351 to 2353), based on an input to end a phone call, the electronic device (101) may display activity prior to the phone call in area (2330).

[0403] For example, in response to an input to end a phone call, in states (2351, 2353), the electronic device (101) may move a visual object (2361) associated with the phone call toward the first icon area (230). For example, in response to an input to end a phone call, the electronic device (101) may move a visual object (2361) toward the first icon area (230) such that the display of the visual object (2361) disappears from the area (2330).

[0404] For example, in response to an input to end a phone call, the electronic device (101) may enlarge a visual object (2363) from the periphery of the second icon area (240) toward the first icon area (230) so that a display of a visual object (2363) related to an activity prior to the phone call is displayed in the area (2330). For example, if the activity prior to the phone call is a timer, the electronic device (101) may enlarge a visual object (2363) from the periphery of the second icon area (240) toward the first icon area (230) so that a display of a visual object (2363) of a timer is displayed in the area (2330).

[0405] In one embodiment, in state (2353), a visual object (2363) may be displayed in area (2330).

[0406] FIG. 24A illustrates an example of a change in a widget according to an input to a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device, according to an embodiment. FIG. 24B illustrates an example of a change in a widget according to an input to a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device, according to an embodiment. FIG. 24C illustrates an example of a change in a widget according to an input to a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device, according to an embodiment.

[0407] FIGS. 24a to 24c can be described with reference to FIGS. 1, 2a to 2g, 5, and 6.

[0408] Fig. 24a illustrates states (2401 to 2404) that control the playback of content through input outside the widget area (220). Fig. 24b illustrates states (2404-1 to 2408) that change the content being played through input outside the widget area (220). Fig. 24c illustrates states (2408, 2451, 2452, 2453) that change the content being played through input outside the widget area (220).

[0409] Referring to FIG. 24A, in state (2401), the electronic device (101) may play content (e.g., music). For example, while playing the content, the electronic device (101) may display an object related to the content in the widget area (220). For example, the object related to the content may indicate the name, icon, and / or playback time of the content. For example, an object (2411) indicating the playback time may be displayed in the widget area (220).

[0410] In states (2401 to 2404), the electronic device (101) may obtain inputs (2421, 2422, 2423) for controlling playback of content. In one embodiment, the inputs may be consecutive inputs (e.g., drag input, swipe input). In one embodiment, the inputs (2421, 2422, 2423) may be input at a location outside the widget area (220).

[0411] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the playback point of content based on the movement distance of the inputs (2421, 2422, 2423). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the playback point of content to a forward position based on the movement of the input from left to right. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the playback point of content to a backward position based on the movement of the input from right to left.

[0412] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change the display of an object (2411) indicating a playback time as the playback time of the content changes. For example, the electronic device (101) may change the display of the object (2411) so that a bar indicating a progress status in the object (2411) changes according to the playback time of the content.

[0413] Referring to FIGS. 24B and 24C , the electronic device (101) may acquire inputs (2441, 2442, 2443, 2444, 2461, 2463) for controlling playback of content (e.g., music) while playing the content. In one embodiment, the inputs (2441, 2442), the inputs (2443, 2444), or the inputs (2461, 2463) may be consecutive inputs (e.g., drag input, swipe input). In one embodiment, the inputs (2441, 2442, 2443, 2444, 2461, 2463) may be input at a location outside the widget area (220).

[0414] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can change the content to be played based on the movement direction of the inputs (2441, 2442, 2443, 2444, 2461, 2463). For example, the electronic device (101) can change the content to be played to the next content based on whether the inputs (2441, 2442) or the inputs (2443, 2444) move from left to right. For example, the electronic device (101) can change the content to be played to the previous content based on whether the inputs (2461, 2463) move from right to left.

[0415] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change the icon to be displayed in the area where the content icon is displayed, depending on an input for changing the content to be played. For example, in the direction of inputs (2441, 2442), the display of icon (2431) may disappear and the display of icon (2432) may be generated. For example, in the direction of inputs (2443, 2444), the display of icon (2432) may disappear and the display of icon (2433) may be generated. For example, in the direction of inputs (2461, 2463), the display of icon (2433) may disappear and the display of icon (2432) may be generated.

[0416] FIG. 25A illustrates an example of a change in a widget on a lock screen of an electronic device, according to an embodiment. [0554] FIG. 41 illustrates an example of a screen for setting a mode in a locked state of an electronic device, according to one embodiment.

[0555] FIG. 41 can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2a to FIG. 2g.

[0556] Referring to FIG. 41, in state (4101), the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen in a locked state. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen including a background area (210) in which a wallpaper (or background image) is displayed, icon areas (230, 240), and a widget area (220).

[0557] In state (4101), the electronic device (101) may display a widget indicating a mode (e.g., work mode) of the electronic device (101) in the widget area (220).

[0558] For example, in state (4101), the electronic device (101) may identify an input to the widget area (220) while displaying a widget representing a mode in the widget area (220). In one embodiment, in state (4102), the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (220) to the widget area (223) in response to the input to the widget area (220). For example, in state (4102), the electronic device (101) may display a widget including changeable modes in the widget area (223).

[0559] As described above, the electronic device (101) can change the widget area (220) to a widget area (223) that displays a widget capable of changing the mode, based on an input to the widget area (220), while displaying a widget indicating a mode in the widget area (220).

[0560] FIG. 42A illustrates an example of an always-on display (AoD) screen that changes widgets based on events in a locked state of an electronic device, according to one embodiment. FIG. 42B illustrates an example of a screen that changes widgets based on events in a locked state of an electronic device, according to one embodiment.

[0561] States (4201, 4202) of FIG. 42a may illustrate situations in which a widget displayed in a widget area (220) is changed based on an event while the electronic device (101) is displaying an AoD screen.

[0562] Referring to state (4201) of FIG. 42a, the electronic device (101) can display a widget selected based on priority in the widget area (220) of the lock screen (210) in a locked state displaying the AoD screen.

[0563] Referring to state (4202) of FIG. 42A, the electronic device (101) may provide information related to battery charging to the widget area (220) of the lock screen (210) in a locked state displaying the AoD screen. For example, the electronic device (101) may provide information related to battery charging to the widget area (220) based on the acquisition of power for charging the battery from an external source.

[0564] Referring to state (4202) of FIG. 42A, the electronic device (101) may, in a locked state displaying the AoD screen, display only one widget among the widgets (e.g., a widget indicating a mode and a widget providing information related to battery charging). For example, the electronic device (101), in a locked state displaying the AoD screen, may display only one widget without overlapping the widgets.

[0565] States (4203, 4204, 4205) of FIG. 42b may illustrate situations in which the widget displayed in the widget area (220) is changed based on an event when the electronic device (101) is in a locked state displaying a screen other than the AoD screen.

[0566] Referring to state (4203) of FIG. 42b, the electronic device (101) can, in a locked state, display a widget selected based on priority in the widget area (220) of the lock screen (210).

[0567] Referring to state (4204) of FIG. 42b, the electronic device (101) may, in a locked state, provide information related to battery charging to the widget area (220) of the lock screen (210). For example, the electronic device (101) may provide information related to battery charging to the widget area (220) based on power being obtained from an external source to charge the battery.

[0568] Referring to state (4204) of FIG. 42B, the electronic device (101) may, in a locked state, display both widgets (e.g., a widget indicating a mode and a widget providing information related to battery charging). For example, the electronic device (101) may, in a locked state, display widgets in an overlapping manner. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget providing information related to battery charging in the widget area (220), and display a widget indicating a mode in a widget (261) covered by the widget area (220). In one embodiment, the widget displayed in the widget (261) covered by the widget area (220) may be a widget displayed in the widget area (220) prior to an event (or an event identifying that power for charging the battery is obtained from an external source).

[0569] Referring to state (4205) of FIG. 42B, the electronic device (101) may display a widget with the next priority in the widget area (220) based on an input for changing the display of the widget area (220) (e.g., a swipe input to the widget area (220). For example, when two widgets are displayed, such as state (4205), the electronic device (101) may display a widget indicating a mode in the widget area (220) and a widget providing information related to battery charging in a widget (261) covered by the widget area (220). In one embodiment, the widget displayed in the widget (261) covered by the widget area (220) may be the widget displayed in the widget area (220) prior to the input for changing the display of the widget area (220).

[0570] FIG. 43A illustrates an example of a screen of an electronic device according to an embodiment. FIG. 43B illustrates an example of layers included in a screen of an electronic device according to an embodiment.

[0571] Referring to state (4301) of FIG. 43A, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen in a locked state. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen including a background area (210) in which a wallpaper (or background image) is displayed, a widget for controlling a function displayed in a widget area (223), and an enlarged widget (4360) for providing information related to the widget displayed in the widget area (223).

[0572] Referring to layers (4302, 4303, 4304, 4305) of FIG. 43b, the lock screen of the state (4301) may be a screen in which layers (4302, 4303, 4304, 4305) are sequentially overlapped. For example, a layer (4304) for indicating a visual object (211) indicating a locked state and a notification area (e.g., the notification area (1411) of FIG. 14a) may be overlapped on a layer (4305) located at the bottom and indicating a background area (210). For example, a layer (4303) for indicating an enlarged widget (4360) for providing information related to a widget displayed in a widget area (223) may be overlapped on a layer (4304). For example, a layer (4302) may be overlapped to represent a widget area (223) on top of a layer (4303).

[0573] In Fig. 43b, four layers are illustrated, but this is merely an example. For example, to display a lock screen according to the state (201) of Fig. 2a, a layer for representing visual objects (211, 213) may be overlaid on a layer for representing a background area (210) located at the bottom. For example, a layer for representing a widget area (220) and icon areas (230, 240) may be overlaid on a layer for representing visual objects (211, 213).

[0574] FIG. 44 illustrates an example of a lock screen of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0575] In the above drawings, the icon areas (230, 240) are displayed side by side with the widget area (220) and the visual object (213) is displayed above the widget area (220), but this is only an example.

[0576] For example, referring to state (4401) of FIG. 44, the electronic device (101) may display the visual object (213) below the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) may display the visual object (213) below the widget area (220) because the location of the sensor for obtaining biometric information (e.g., fingerprint) is relatively lower.

[0577] Referring to states (4402, 4404) of FIG. 44, the electronic device (101), in the locked state, can arrange the icon areas (230, 240) of the lock screen (210) in parallel with the visual object (213). Referring to state (4402) of FIG. 44, the electronic device (101) can display the visual object (213) below the widget area (220).

[0578] Referring to state (4403) of FIG. 44, the electronic device (101), in a locked state, can display a widget in an enlarged widget area (223) based on an input to the widget area (220).

[0579] FIG. 45a is a flowchart illustrating the operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0580] FIG. 45a can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2a to FIG. 2g.

[0581] Referring to FIG. 45A, in operation 4511, the electronic device (101) may identify an event for changing a widget displayed in the widget area (220). For example, the event may include the generation of a notification from an application running in the background. For example, the notification may be related to a connection with another electronic device (e.g., a wireless communication connection, a connection for charging). For example, the notification may be related to the fulfillment of a condition (e.g., the generation of an artificial intelligence (AI) briefing). For example, the notification may be related to a notification from an application running in the background (e.g., the expiration of a timer).

[0582] For example, an event may include user input (e.g., a swipe input) to change a widget displayed in the widget area (220).

[0583] In operation 4513, the electronic device (101) may change the widget displayed in the widget area (220) based on an event. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the widget of the application that generated the notification in the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) may display the widget with the next priority in the widget area (220) by a swipe input for the widget displayed in the widget area (220).

[0584] In operation 4515, the electronic device (101) may determine whether a priority change is necessary. For example, if a new widget is created by an event, a priority change may be determined to be necessary. For example, if the event is generated by a widget displayed in a widget area (261, 265) obscured by a widget area (220), a priority change may be determined not to be necessary.

[0585] In operation 4515, based on determining that a change in priority is required, the electronic device (101) may perform operation 4517. In operation 4515, based on determining that a change in priority is not required, the electronic device (101) may perform operation 4519.

[0586] In operation 4517, the electronic device (101) may change priorities based on the order in which events occur. In one embodiment, the priorities may have a circular order. For example, after a widget with the lowest priority is displayed in the widget area (220), the widget displayed next in the widget area (220) may be the widget with the highest priority.

[0587] In one embodiment, when a widget is newly created by an event, the electronic device (101) may set the priority of the widget created by the event to have a higher priority than the widgets immediately displayed in the widget area (220). For example, if widget D is newly created in a situation where widget B is currently displayed in the widget area (220) with priorities of widget A, widget B, and widget C, the electronic device (101) may update the priorities in the order of widget A, widget D, widget B, and widget C. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the newly created widget D in the widget area (220) and, in response to an input (e.g., a swipe input) to change the widget displayed in the widget area (220) from widget D, display widget B in the widget area (220) according to the priorities.

[0588] In operation 4519, the electronic device (101) can maintain priorities. For example, if widget A, widget B, and widget C have priorities, and widget B is currently displayed in the widget area (220), and an event of widget A occurs, the electronic device (101) can maintain the order of widget A, widget B, and widget C in priorities. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) can display widget A in the widget area (220) according to the event, and in response to an input (e.g., a swipe input) for changing the widget displayed in the widget area (220) from widget A, display widget B in the widget area (220) according to the priorities.

[0589] FIG. 45b is a flowchart illustrating the operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0590] FIG. 45b can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2a to FIG. 2g.

[0591] Referring to FIG. 45b, in operation 4521, the electronic device (101) may identify an event for changing a state. For example, the change in state may be a change between a locked state and a state other than a locked state (e.g., an unlocked state).

[0592] In operation 4523, the electronic device (101) may change the priority based on a reference priority. The reference priority may include a first reference priority for a locked state and a second reference priority for an unlocked state.

[0593] For example, the first criterion priority may have an order of a first type of widgets for ongoing activities (e.g., activities related to applications run by the user (e.g., timer, phone, voice recording)), a second type of widgets for briefings (e.g., AI briefings (e.g., widgets displayed in state (3401) of FIG. 34a and / or widgets displayed in state (3403) of FIG. 34b), and a third type of widgets for status information (e.g., mode of the electronic device (101) (e.g., widgets displayed in state (3502) of FIG. 35), charging status (e.g., widgets displayed in state (4204) of FIG. 42b), and / or emergency contacts). For example, the order may be determined in the order of the first type of widgets, the second type of widgets, and the third type of widgets. The widget with the highest priority among the first type of widgets may be the widget of the top-app (or, the app displayed on the display (260)) run in the unlocked state. There is. The order of the third type of widgets can be based on the order of the events occurring or a user-specified widget order, but is not limited thereto.

[0594] For example, a second criteria priority may have an order of a first type of widgets for ongoing activities (e.g., activities related to an application run by a user (e.g., a timer, a phone call, a voice recorder)), a second type of widgets for briefings (e.g., an AI briefing (e.g., a widget displayed in state (3401) of FIG. 34a, and / or a widget displayed in state (3403) of FIG. 34b). For example, in the second criteria priority, a third type of widgets may not be included. For example, based on a change from a locked state to an unlocked state, the third type of widgets may not be displayed in the widget areas (1420, 1421, 1422, 1423). For example, even if a third type of widget is displayed in the widget area (220) in the locked state, the third type of widget may not be displayed in the widget areas (1420, 1421, 1422, 1423) in the unlocked state. However, the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0595] The highest priority widget among the first type of widgets of the second criterion priority may be a widget of an application related to media playback (e.g., a music and / or video playback application).

[0596] In operation 4525, the electronic device (101) may display a widget corresponding to the changed state in a widget area (e.g., widget area (220) or widget areas (1420, 1421, 1422, 1423)). For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget with the highest priority in the widget area according to the reference priority. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget with the highest priority in the widget area regardless of the widget displayed in the state before the change.

[0597] FIG. 46 is a diagram illustrating the structure of a generative AI model of an electronic device according to one embodiment.

[0598] FIG. 46 may be described with reference to FIG. 1, FIG. 2a, or FIG. 2b.

[0599] In one embodiment, the AI model (4650) of FIG. 46 can be used to generate a wall paper.

[0601] In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may be a graphical UI (GUI) for user interaction (e.g., acquisition of touch input and / or display of results) via the display (260). In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may be a voice UI (VUI) (or an auditory UI (AUI)) for user interaction (e.g., acquisition of voice signals and / or output of audio signals) via the audio output module (155) (or the audio module (170)). In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may be a natural UI (NUI) for user interaction (e.g., acquisition of user gestures or gaze) via the camera module (180). In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may be a physical UI (PUI) (or a tangible UI (TUI)) for user interaction (e.g., input to a physical button) via the input module (150).

[0602] In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may be configured for interaction between the electronic device (101) and the user for the purpose of querying the user and / or responding to the query. In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may receive user input. For example, the user input may include natural language input (e.g., voice signal input, and / or text input), and / or input for selecting (or indicating) content (e.g., images and / or videos). The user input may also be in a mixed form of the above-described natural language, images, sounds, and context information. The user input may also be in a non-natural language form, such as selecting a menu.

[0603] In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may identify (or obtain) information about the context related to the time (or situation) at which the user's input is obtained, for the purpose of the user's inquiry and / or response to the inquiry. In one embodiment, the information about the context may include additional information at the time of the user input. For example, the additional information may include information about the application currently being used by the user or location information of the user (or the electronic device (101)).

[0604] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may output the results of a generative AI model (4650) to the user via a UI (4610). In one embodiment, the output may be in the form of natural language or specific content. In one embodiment, the output may be provided in a form requested by the user (e.g., an action).

[0605] In one embodiment, the UI (4610) may transmit information about the user's input and / or context to an artificial intelligence (AI) framework (4620). In one embodiment, the AI framework (4620) may obtain information about the user's input and / or context from the UI (4610).

[0606] In one embodiment, the AI framework (4620) may coordinate and / or control each of the components (e.g., interface management element (4621), prompt design element (4623), or output modification element (4625)) necessary to perform a task according to the user's intent identified based on the user's query (or query included in the user input).

[0607] In one embodiment, the AI framework (4620) may transmit user input obtained from the UI (4610) to a prompt design element (4623).

[0608] In one embodiment, the prompt design element (4623) may generate a prompt suitable for inputting user input into a generative AI model (4650) (e.g., a large language model (LLM) and / or a larger multimodal model (LMM)).

[0609] In one embodiment, the prompt design element (4623) may be an AI component that utilizes a machine learning algorithm or neural network. Accordingly, the prompt design element (4623) may change the prompt generated through learning.

[0610] In one embodiment, the prompt design element (4623) may access a knowledge element (or knowledge repository (4630)) containing user preference data, a prompt library, and prompt examples based on user input to generate a prompt, and pass the generated prompt to a generative AI model (4650) (e.g., an LLM and / or LMM).

[0611] In one embodiment, the interface management element (4621) can communicate with external elements. In one embodiment, the interface management element (4621) can obtain additional information from external elements when there is a request for additional information when passing user input (or a prompt based on user input) as input to the generative AI model (4650). In one embodiment, the interface management element (4621) can establish a channel for communicating with the outside of the AI framework (4620) through an application programming interface (API), and can enable the AI framework (4620) to access various data sources (e.g., a knowledge repository (4630)) through the established channel. In addition, the interface management element (4621) can request the service element (4640) through the API to perform an action that performs the user input as a final, rather than an intermediate, result in the application and / or service. Information obtained from external elements may be used to generate prompts in the prompt design element (4623) along with user input or may be passed as input to the generative AI model (4650).

[0612] In one embodiment, the output modification component (4625) can fine-tune the output from the generative AI model (4650). For example, the output modification component (4625) can verify (e.g., verify for relevance, bias, and / or harmfulness) the content generated by the generative AI model (4650) (e.g., LLM and / or LMM). In addition, the output modification component (4625) can determine to what extent the output result matches the result desired by the user and, if additional adjustment is needed, can perform additional tasks for additional adjustment. Additionally, the output modification component (4625) can provide the user with hints to prevent (or reduce) undesired output.

[0613] In one embodiment, a generative AI model (4650) may generally refer to an artificial intelligence neural network that generates new types of data based on user input information. The generative AI model (4650) may include a model that generates images and / or a model that generates language. The model that generates images may include a generative adversarial network (GAN), a variational autoencoder (VAE), and / or a diffusion-based generative model that uses a VAE and a transformer architecture. The model that generates language may be a model trained to output statistically most appropriate output values based on input values. For example, the model that generates language may include a model such as CHAT-GPT 3 or CHAT-GPT 4. In addition, the generative AI model (4650) may be an LMM that can recognize various types of data input, such as text, images, and voice, and generate new data corresponding thereto.

[0614] FIG. 47 illustrates an operation of changing a screen according to an identified event while an electronic device displays an AoD screen, according to one embodiment.

[0615] Fig. 47 can be explained with reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 46.

[0616] Referring to state (4701) of FIG. 47, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (4711) through the display (260). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (4711) that does not include the widget area (220) based on the absence of an application running in the background (or foreground) related to the widget area (220) (or capable of displaying information in the widget area (220).

[0617] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may identify an event while displaying the AoD screen (4711). In one embodiment, the event may be an identification of a change in the state (or setting) of the electronic device (101). In one embodiment, the event may indicate that required information and / or information of interest is identified. For example, the event may indicate that an external electronic device is connected to the electronic device (101). For example, the event may indicate that the electronic device (101) is charged (e.g., receiving power from an external electronic device). For example, the event may indicate that the mode of the electronic device (101) is changed. For example, the event may indicate that the task of the electronic device (101) is changed. For example, the event may include the electronic device (101) identifying a notification from an application. For example, notifications from an application may include that a timer is about to expire, food delivery is about to occur, and / or arrival at a destination is about to occur.

[0618] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display a widget of an application corresponding to the identified event in the widget area (220). For example, in response to identifying an event, the electronic device (101) may display a widget of an application corresponding to the identified event in the AoD screen (4711). For example, referring to state (4702), the electronic device (101) may display a widget indicating that the electronic device (101) is charged in the widget area (220) while displaying the AoD screen (4711). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, in response to identifying an event, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen (4712) instead of the AoD screen (4711). For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget of an application corresponding to the identified event on the lock screen (4712) instead of the AoD screen (4711). For example, referring to state (4703), the electronic device (101) may display a widget in the widget area (220) indicating that the electronic device (101) is charging while displaying the lock screen (4712).

[0619] In FIG. 47, a widget indicating that the electronic device (101) is being charged is illustrated as a widget corresponding to an event, but this is merely an example. In an embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in response to identifying various events (e.g., a mode change event, a food delivery-related event, a route guidance-related event, a message reception event, and / or a phone call reception event), display a widget corresponding to each of the various events in the widget area (220).

[0620] FIG. 48 illustrates an operation of changing a widget based on an identified event while an electronic device displays a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0621] Fig. 48 can be explained with reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 46.

[0622] Referring to state (4801) of FIG. 48, the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen (4811) through the display (260) in a locked state. In one embodiment, the lock screen (4811) may include a widget area (220). In one embodiment, the lock screen (4811) may include icon areas (230, 240).

[0623] In state (4801), the electronic device (101) can obtain an input (4821) for the widget area (220). For example, the input (4821) for the widget area (220) can be a tap input (or double tap input) (or press input) (or long press input) for the widget area (220).

[0624] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (220) based on an input (4821) to the widget area (220). For example, in a state (4802), the electronic device (101) may display an enlarged widget area (420) instead of the widget area (220) based on the input (4821) to the widget area (220). For example, the enlarged widget area (420) may be a widget in which the top and sides of the widget area (220) are enlarged.

[0625] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may identify an event while displaying the enlarged widget area (420).

[0626] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may delay displaying a widget corresponding to an event based on identifying the event while displaying the expanded widget area (420). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may delay displaying a widget corresponding to an event until the expanded widget area (420) is reduced to the widget area (220).

[0627] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may delay displaying a widget corresponding to an event based on identifying the event while displaying the expanded widget area (420). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may delay displaying a widget corresponding to an event until the expanded widget area (420) is reduced to the widget area (220).

[0628] In one embodiment, in state (4803), the electronic device (101) may, after identifying an event while displaying the enlarged widget area (420), display the widget area (220) instead of the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the electronic device (101) may, after identifying the event, display the widget area (220) instead of the enlarged widget area (420) based on an input (4822) for an area other than the widget area (420). In one embodiment, the widget area (220) may display a widget of an application displayed in the enlarged widget area (420).

[0629] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may identify that the widget area (220) is displayed after identifying an event while displaying the enlarged widget area (420). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in response to the display of the widget area (220) after identifying an event while displaying the enlarged widget area (420), display a widget of an application corresponding to the identified event in the widget area (220). For example, referring to state (4804), the electronic device (101) may display a widget indicating that the electronic device (101) is charged in the widget area (220) while displaying the lock screen (4811).

[0630] In FIG. 48, a widget indicating that the electronic device (101) is being charged is illustrated as a widget corresponding to an event, but this is merely an example. In an embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in response to identifying various events (e.g., a mode change event, a food delivery-related event, a route guidance-related event, a message reception event, and / or a phone call reception event), display a widget corresponding to each of the various events in the widget area (220).

[0631] For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget corresponding to an event in the widget area (220) based on the life cycle of the event. For example, the life cycle of the event may include a pre-ongoing activity, a during-ongoing activity, and / or a subsequent ongoing activity of the event. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget corresponding to an event in the widget area (220) when the life cycle of the event is initiated and / or when it is changed. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget corresponding to an event in the widget area (220) for a specified time when the life cycle of the event is initiated and / or when it is changed, and then move the order of the widget corresponding to the event to the very end. Accordingly, another widget (or a widget displayed before the widget corresponding to the event) may be displayed in the widget area (220). For example, the electronic device (101) may remove a widget corresponding to an event from a list of widgets after a specified amount of time has elapsed following the subsequent ongoing activity of the event.

[0632] FIG. 49A illustrates an operation of changing widgets as the mode changes while the electronic device displays a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0633] Fig. 49a can be explained with reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 46.

[0634] Referring to state (4901) of FIG. 49A, the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (4921) related to the widget area (220) within the lock screen (4911). For example, the input (4921) may obtain a swipe input (or drag input) (or flick input) (or pan input) (or slide input) for the widget area (220). For example, the input (4921) may be an upward input in the widget area (220).

[0635] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change a widget (or an application that generates information displayed by a widget) displayed in the widget area (220) based on an input (4921) related to the widget area (220). For example, based on the application following a timer, the electronic device (101) may determine an application to display a widget in the widget area (220). Referring to state (4902) of FIG. 49A, the electronic device (101) may display a widget for setting a mode of the electronic device (101). For example, the mode of the electronic device (101) may be a health mode.

[0636] In state (4902), the electronic device (101) can obtain an input (4922) related to the widget area (220). For example, the input (4922) can be a tap input (or double tap input) (or press input) (or long press input) for the widget area (220).

[0637] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may execute a function associated with a widget based on an input (4922) associated with the widget area (220). For example, based on an input (4922) associated with the widget area (220) received while a widget for setting a mode of the electronic device (101) is displayed, the electronic device (101) may change the mode of the electronic device (101). For example, the electronic device (101) may change from a health mode to a work mode.

[0638] In state (4903), the electronic device (101) may identify that a specified condition is met. For example, the specified condition may be that no user interaction (or user input) is received for a specified period of time (e.g., 5 seconds) while the lock screen (4911) is displayed. For example, in response to identifying that the specified condition is met while the widget for setting the mode is displayed, the electronic device (101) may change the widget displayed in the widget area (220) (or the application that generates the information displayed by the widget). For example, in response to identifying that the condition is met while the widget for setting the mode is displayed, the electronic device (101) may display a widget in the next order after the widget for setting the mode. In state (4904), the electronic device (101) may display a timer widget in the widget area (220). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may change the order of widgets for setting the previously displayed mode to the last order as the display of widgets is changed.

[0639] FIG. 49b illustrates an operation of changing widgets as the mode changes while the electronic device displays a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0640] Figure 49b can be explained with reference to Figures 1 and 46.

[0641] Referring to state (4904) of FIG. 49b, the electronic device (101) may display a widget area (220) that includes widgets other than a widget for setting a mode. For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget area (220) that includes a widget related to a timer.

[0642] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may identify an event while displaying a widget area (220) including a widget other than a widget for setting a mode. For example, the event may indicate that the mode of the electronic device (101) has changed. For example, the electronic device (101) may, in response to identifying that a mode change condition has been met, change the current mode to a mode for which the condition has been met. For example, the electronic device (101) may identify a change from a work mode to a health mode.

[0643] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may notify that the mode has changed through the widget area (220).

[0644] For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget indicating a changed mode in the widget area (220). Referring to state (4905) of FIG. 49b, the electronic device (101) may display a widget indicating a health mode in the widget area (220) for a specified time (e.g., 5 seconds). In one embodiment, after displaying the widget indicating the changed mode in the widget area (220), the electronic device (101) may display a widget in the next order after the widget for setting the mode in the widget area (220).

[0645] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may notify that the mode has changed through a pop-up screen (4931). For example, the electronic device (101) may, in response to identifying that the mode has changed, display the pop-up screen (4931) over the lock screen (4911) for a specified period of time (e.g., 5 seconds). For example, referring to state (4906) of FIG. 49B , the electronic device (101) may notify that the mode has changed through the pop-up screen (4931) without changing the display of the widget area (220).

[0646] FIG. 49c illustrates an operation of changing widgets as the mode changes while the electronic device displays a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0647] Figure 49c can be explained with reference to Figures 1 and 46.

[0648] Referring to state (4904) of FIG. 49c, the electronic device (101) may change the widget area (220) based on an input (4821) to the widget area (220). For example, in state (4904), the electronic device (101) may display an enlarged widget area (420) instead of the widget area (220) based on an input (4923) to the widget area (220).

[0649] In one embodiment, in state (4907), the electronic device (101) may identify an event while displaying an enlarged widget area (420).

[0650] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may identify an event while displaying a widget other than a widget for setting a mode in the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the event may indicate that the mode of the electronic device (101) has changed. For example, the electronic device (101) may, in response to identifying that a mode change condition has been met, change the current mode to a mode in which the condition has been met. For example, the electronic device (101) may identify a change from a work mode to a health mode.

[0651] In one embodiment, in state (4908), the electronic device (101) may, in response to identifying an event while displaying the enlarged widget area (420), indicate a mode change via a pop-up screen (4932). For example, in response to identifying that the mode change has occurred, the electronic device (101) may display the pop-up screen (4932) over the lock screen (4911) for a specified period of time (e.g., 5 seconds). For example, the electronic device (101) may indicate a mode change via the pop-up screen (4932) without changing the display of the enlarged widget area (420).

[0652] FIG. 50A illustrates an operation of dismissing a widget based on user input received while an electronic device displays a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0653] FIG. 50a can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 46.

[0654] Referring to state (5001) of FIG. 50A, the electronic device (101) may receive a user input (5021) while displaying an enlarged widget area (420) on a lock screen (5011). For example, the input (5021) may obtain a swipe input (or drag input) (or flick input) (or pan input) (or slide input) for the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the input (5021) may be an input directed to the left (or right) in the enlarged widget area (420).

[0655] In one embodiment, referring to state (5002), the electronic device (101) may change the display position of a widget displayed in the enlarged widget area (420) according to an input (5021) related to the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the electronic device (101) may change the display position of a widget displayed in the enlarged widget area (420) so that it moves according to an input (5021) related to the enlarged widget area (420).

[0656] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may dismiss a widget (or an application that generates information displayed by the widget) displayed in the enlarged widget area (420) based on an input (5021) associated with the enlarged widget area (420). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may dismiss a widget (or an application that generates information displayed by the widget) displayed in the enlarged widget area (420) based on an input (5021) associated with the enlarged widget area (420) moving more than a specified distance. For example, dismissing a widget may include removing the widget from a set (or list) of widgets that the electronic device (101) displays in the enlarged widget area (420) (or widget area (220)) according to priority.

[0657] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, when a widget of an application that plays media content (e.g., a music player and / or a video player widget) is displayed in an enlarged widget area (420), dismiss the widget based on an input (5021) associated with the enlarged widget area (420) identified in a designated situation. For example, the designated situation may be a situation in which playback of the media content is stopped (or paused). For example, the designated situation may be a situation in which the last media content among the media contents is displayed in the widget.

[0658] In one embodiment, in response to dissolving a widget, based on the order of the widgets, the electronic device (101) may display a screen that queries whether the dissolved widget is set. For example, the screen that queries whether the dissolved widget is set may be displayed in the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the screen that queries whether the dissolved widget is set may be a screen that queries whether to not display the dissolved widget in the widget area (220) (or the enlarged widget area (420)) in the future. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in response to receiving a user input requesting not to display the dissolved widget in the widget area (220) (or the enlarged widget area (420)), set the dissolved widget not to be displayed in the widget area (220) (or the enlarged widget area (420)).

[0659] In one embodiment, in response to dismissing a widget, the electronic device (101) may determine a widget to display next based on the order of the widgets. In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the determined widget. For example, referring to state (5003), the electronic device (101) may display the next widget in the enlarged widget area (420). For example, referring to state (5004), the electronic device (101) may display the next widget in the widget area (220) instead of the enlarged widget area (420).

[0660] FIG. 50b illustrates an operation of dismissing a widget based on user input received while the electronic device is displaying a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0661] FIG. 50b can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 46.

[0662] In one embodiment, referring to state (5003) of FIG. 50B, the electronic device (101) may display an enlarged widget area (420). For example, a widget in the enlarged widget area (420) may include one or more visual objects for controlling the widget. For example, the one or more visual objects may include a visual object for controlling a function provided by the widget (e.g., play, stop). For example, the one or more visual objects may include a visual object for setting whether to display the widget. For example, the visual object for setting whether to display the widget may be a visual object for de-mute the display of the widget. For example, setting whether to display the widget may include de-mute the widget.

[0663] In state (5003), the electronic device (101) may obtain inputs (5022, 5023) for the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the input (5022) for the enlarged widget area (420) may be identified in an area within the enlarged widget area (420) where one or more visual objects for controlling the widget are not displayed. For example, the input (5023) for the enlarged widget area (420) may be identified in an area within the enlarged widget area (420) where a visual object for dismissing the display of the widget is displayed.

[0664] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display a screen for setting a widget in the enlarged widget area (420) based on an input (5022) for the enlarged widget area (420). For example, the screen for setting a widget may display the name of the application of the widget being set. For example, the screen for setting a widget may include one or more visual objects. For example, one or more visual objects included in the screen for setting a widget may include at least one visual object for setting a widget and / or display of the widget.

[0665] For example, in state (5005), the electronic device (101) may obtain inputs (5024, 5025) for a screen for setting a widget displayed in an enlarged widget area (420). For example, the input (5024) may be an input for a visual object for dismissing a widget. For example, the input (5025) may be an input for a visual object for displaying a setting screen for specifically setting a widget. For example, the input (5026) may be an input for a visual object for displaying a setting screen for setting a widget (e.g., a screen according to states (5601, 5602, 5603) of FIG. 56).

[0666] In one embodiment, in response to receiving an input to dismiss a widget, the electronic device (101) may determine a widget to display next. For example, the input to dismiss a widget may include an input (5023) identified in an area within an enlarged widget area (420) where a visual object for dismissing display of the widget is displayed, and / or an input (5024) for a visual object for dismissing the widget.

[0667] For example, the electronic device (101) may display the widget to be displayed next in the enlarged widget area (420) (or widget area (220)) based on the determination of the widget to be displayed next.

[0668] For example, the electronic device (101) may not display the enlarged widget area (420) (or the widget area (220)) based on whether the next widget to be displayed has not been determined (or there is no next widget to be displayed). For example, referring to state (5006), the lock screen (5011) including the icon areas (230, 240) may be displayed without displaying the widget area (220).

[0669] In one embodiment, in response to receiving an input (5023) for dismissing a widget, the electronic device (101) may dismiss (or terminate) the widget. In one embodiment, when the application of the widget is an application for playing content (e.g., a media player), the electronic device (101) may stop playing the content for a specified time (e.g., 1 minute) after receiving the input (5023) for dismissing the widget, and may dismiss (or terminate) the widget after the specified time.

[0670] FIG. 51 illustrates an operation of an electronic device switching between an AoD screen and a lock screen, according to one embodiment.

[0671] FIG. 51 can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 46.

[0672] Referring to state (5101) of FIG. 51, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (5111) through the display (260). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display a widget (e.g., a widget related to an application) in a widget area (220) within the AoD screen (5111).

[0673] In one embodiment, a widget displayed in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5111) may not include a visual object for controlling the widget (or the functionality provided by the widget).

[0674] In one embodiment, in state (5101), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (5121) while displaying a widget in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5111). The input (5121) may be identified in an area other than the widget area (220). The input (5121) may be an input (e.g., a double tap input) requesting display of a lock screen (5112) instead of the AoD screen (5111).

[0675] Referring to state (5102), the electronic device (101) may display a lock screen (5112) through the display (260). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the lock screen (5112) in response to an input (5121) requesting display of the lock screen (5112) instead of the AoD screen (5111).

[0676] In one embodiment, a widget in the widget area (220) displayed on the lock screen (5112) may include at least one visual object, compared to a widget in the widget area (220) displayed on the AoD screen (5111), in one embodiment. In one embodiment, a widget in the widget area (220) displayed on the lock screen (5112) may include at least one visual object capable of controlling the widget, compared to a widget in the widget area (220) displayed on the AoD screen (5111), in one embodiment. For example, the at least one visual object capable of controlling the widget may be an icon for stopping (or starting) a timer.

[0677] In one embodiment, in state (5102), the electronic device (101) may obtain inputs (5122, 5123) while displaying a widget in the widget area (220) within the lock screen (5112). The input (5122) may be an input requesting display of an enlarged widget area (420) instead of the widget area (220). The input (5122) may be identified in the widget area (220). The input (5122) may be identified in an area other than an area where a visual object for controlling a widget is displayed within the widget area (220). The input (5123) may be identified in an area other than the widget area (220). The input (5123) may be an input (e.g., a double tap input) requesting display of the AoD screen (5111) instead of the lock screen (5112). The input (5123) can be identified in an area other than the widget area (220).

[0678] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (5111). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the AoD screen (5111) according to the state (5101) instead of the lock screen (5112) in response to an input (5123) requesting display of the AoD screen (5111) instead of the lock screen (5112). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the electronic device (101) may display the AoD screen (5111) instead of the lock screen (5112) in response to identifying that a specified condition (e.g., a time condition) is met. For example, if no user interaction (or user input) is identified for a specified period of time, the electronic device (101) may display the AoD screen (5111) instead of the lock screen (5112). In one embodiment, the AoD screen (5111) that changes from the lock screen (5112) may display a widget area (220) that is the same size as the widget area (220) of the lock screen (5112). For example, if no user interaction (or user input) is identified for a specified time in the state (5102), the electronic device (101) may transition to the state (5101) and display the AoD screen (5111) that includes the widget area (220) in the state (5101).

[0679] Referring to state (5103), the electronic device (101) may display an enlarged widget area (420) within the lock screen (5112) via the display (260). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the enlarged widget area (420) within the lock screen (5112) in response to an input (5122) requesting display of the enlarged widget area (420).

[0680] In one embodiment, in state (5103), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (5125) while displaying a widget in an enlarged widget area (420) within a lock screen (5112). The input (5125) may be an input requesting display of the widget area (220) instead of the enlarged widget area (420). The input (5125) may be identified in an area other than the enlarged widget area (420). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in response to the input (5125), display the widget area (220) instead of the enlarged widget area (420). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may, in response to the input (5125), display the lock screen (5112) including the widget area (220) according to state (5102).

[0681] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (5111) instead of a lock screen (5112) in response to identifying that a specified condition (e.g., a time condition) is met. For example, if no user interaction (or user input) is identified for a specified period of time, the electronic device (101) may display the AoD screen (5111) instead of the lock screen (5112). In one embodiment, the AoD screen (5111) that changes from the lock screen (5112) may display an enlarged widget area (420) of the same size as the enlarged widget area (420) of the lock screen (5112). However, the present invention is not limited thereto. For example, the electronic device (101) may, in response to an input requesting display of an AoD screen (5111) instead of a lock screen (5112) received in a state (5103), display an AoD screen (5111) according to a state (5104) instead of a lock screen (5112). For example, the input requesting display of an AoD screen (5111) instead of a lock screen (5112) received in a state (5103) may be an input (e.g., a double tap input) requesting display of an AoD screen (5111) instead of a lock screen (5112). For example, the input requesting display of an AoD screen (5111) instead of a lock screen (5112) received in a state (5103) may be identified in an area other than the enlarged widget area (420).

[0682] Referring to state (5104), the electronic device (101) can display an AoD screen (5111) including an enlarged widget area (420) through the display (260).

[0683] In one embodiment, in state (5104), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (5126) while displaying a widget in an enlarged widget area (420) within an AoD screen (5111). The input (5126) may be identified in an area other than the enlarged widget area (420). The input (5126) may be an input (e.g., a double tap input) requesting display of a lock screen (5112) instead of the AoD screen (5111).

[0684] Referring to state (5103), the electronic device (101) may, in response to input (5126) received in state (5104) through the display (260), display a lock screen (5112) including an enlarged widget area (420) instead of the AoD screen (5111).

[0685] FIG. 52 illustrates an operation of an electronic device controlling a widget on an AoD screen according to one embodiment.

[0686] FIG. 52 can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 46.

[0687] Referring to state (5201) of FIG. 52, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (5211) through the display (260). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display a widget (e.g., a widget related to an application) in a widget area (220) within the AoD screen (5211).

[0688] In one embodiment, a widget displayed in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5211) may include a visual object representing information about the widget (or a function provided by the widget). For example, a widget displayed in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5211) of a state (5201) may include a visual object (5221) representing information about a function provided by the widget.

[0689] For example, the electronic device (101) may update a widget displayed on the AoD screen (5211) and / or the widget area (220) of the state (5201) at a relatively long interval (e.g., 1 minute, 3 minutes (e.g., in the case of music playback), 1 hour (e.g., in the case of weather information)). For example, the electronic device (101) may simplify the time representation of a visual object (5221) within the widget while updating the widget displayed on the AoD screen (5211) and / or the widget area (220) at a relatively long interval. For example, simplifying the time representation may include omitting the time representation of some units. For example, simplifying the time representation may include omitting the time representation of seconds. For example, a time representation within a visual object (5221) of a widget of a timer application may include units of hours (e.g., "2") and units of minutes (e.g., "59"), and may omit units of seconds (e.g., "--").

[0690] In one embodiment, a widget displayed in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5211) may include a visual object for controlling the widget (or a function provided by the widget). For example, a widget displayed in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5211) of a state (5201) may include a visual object (5225) indicating that the function provided by the widget is stopped. In one embodiment, the visual object (5225) may indicate an icon (e.g., a play button, a pause button) related to the main function of the widget.

[0691] In one embodiment, in state (5201), the electronic device (101) may obtain an input (e.g., a double-tap input) while displaying a widget in a widget area (220) within an AoD screen (5211). For example, the input may be identified in an area within the widget area (220). For example, the input may be identified in an area within a visual object (5225) of a widget displayed in the widget area (220) within the AoD screen (5211). For example, the input may be identified in an area within a visual object (5225) for controlling a widget (or a function provided by a widget) within the AoD screen (5211).

[0692] In one embodiment, in state (5202), the electronic device (101) may provide (or execute) a function provided by a widget based on an input (e.g., a double tap input) to a visual object (5225) within the AoD screen (5211).

[0693] For example, based on an input (e.g., a double-tap input) to a visual object (5225), the electronic device (101) may update a widget displayed on the AoD screen (5211) and / or the widget area (220) of the state (5202) at a relatively short interval (e.g., 1 second). For example, the electronic device (101) may display an unsimplified time representation of a visual object (5221) within the widget while updating the widget displayed on the AoD screen (5211) and / or the widget area (220) at a relatively short interval. For example, not simplifying the time representation may include not omitting a time representation in some units. For example, not simplifying the time representation may include not omitting a time representation in seconds. For example, a time representation within a visual object (5221) of a state (5202) may include units of time (e.g., "2"), units of minutes (e.g., "58"), and units of seconds (e.g., "57").

[0694] For example, the electronic device (101) may update the AoD screen at a relatively long interval after a specified period of time (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute) has elapsed after initiating the provision (or execution) of a function provided by a widget based on an input (e.g., double-tap input) to a visual object (5225) within the AoD screen (5211). For example, the relatively long interval may be the same as the standard update cycle of the AoD screen. For example, when the standard update cycle of the AoD screen is 1 minute, the electronic device (101) may update the widget area (220) and / or the visual object (5221) within the AoD screen at 1-minute intervals.

[0695] For example, the electronic device (101) may simplify the time representation of a visual object (5221) within a widget while updating the widget area (220) and / or the visual object (5221) of the state (5203) at a relatively long cycle. For example, simplifying the time representation may include omitting some units of time representation. For example, simplifying the time representation may include omitting seconds of time representation. For example, the time representation within a visual object (5221) of a widget of a timer application may include hours (e.g., "2") and minutes (e.g., "58"), and seconds (e.g., "--") may be omitted.

[0696] FIG. 53 illustrates examples of widget areas displayed on an AoD screen according to one embodiment.

[0697] Fig. 53 can be explained with reference to Fig. 1 and Fig. 46.

[0698] Referring to states (5301, 5302, 5303) of FIG. 53, the electronic device (101) may display an AoD screen (5311) including each of the widgets (5321, 5322, 5323) through the display (260). For example, the electronic device (101) may display the AoD screen (5311) in response to identifying an event (e.g., a double-tap input outside the enlarged widget area (420)) requesting a transition to the AoD screen (5311) while displaying an enlarged widget area (e.g., 420 of FIG. 4) within the lock screen (e.g., no user interaction (or user input) is received for a specified period of time (e.g., 5 seconds) while the lock screen is displayed).

[0699] For example, the electronic device (101) may display each of the widgets (5321, 5322, 5323) included in the AoD screen (5311) in a widget area larger than the widget area (220). For example, in a state (5301), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (5321) in an area including a widget area (e.g., 220 of FIG. 2A) and icon areas (e.g., 230, 240 of FIG. 2A). For example, in a state (5302), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (5322) in an enlarged widget area (420) (or an area smaller than the enlarged widget area (420)). For example, in a state (5303), the electronic device (101) may display the widget (5323) in an area larger than the enlarged widget area (420).

[0700] In one embodiment, the widgets (5321, 5322, 5323) displayed in each of the states (5301, 5302, 5303) may be displayed in an area that does not overlap with an input area for acquiring a fingerprint image or an area in which a visual object (213) representing an input area for acquiring a fingerprint image is displayed. For example, the widgets (5321, 5322, 5323) may be displayed in an area different from the enlarged widget area (420) displayed on the lock screen so as not to obscure the visual object (213). For example, the widgets (5321, 5322, 5323) may be moved within the AoD screen (5311) so as not to obscure the visual object (213).

[0701] FIG. 54 illustrates an example of a widget within a screen displayed by an electronic device, according to one embodiment.

[0702] FIG. 54 can be explained with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 46.

[0703] Referring to state (5401) of FIG. 54, the electronic device (101) may display a screen (5411) other than the lock screen (e.g., a home screen, an application screen, or an apps screen) through the display (260). In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display the screen (5411) in an unlocked state (or in use state). According to an embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display a widget within the screen (5411). For example, the electronic device (101) may display a widget in widget areas (e.g., 1420, 1421, 1422, 1423) described with reference to FIGS. 14A to 14C within the screen (5411).

[0704] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may identify an event while displaying the screen (5411).

[0705] In one embodiment, the electronic device (101) may display a widget of an application corresponding to an identified event within a notification area (1411). For example, the notification area (1411) may be displayed at the top of the screen of the display (260). In one embodiment, the notification area (1411) may include an area (1413) in which a visual object indicating a status of the electronic device (e.g., battery status, communication status) is displayed and / or an area (1415) in which a visual object indicating the current time is displayed.

[0706] For example, referring to state (5402), the electronic device (101) may display a widget (5421) in the notification area (1411) (or a widget area within the notification area (1411)) indicating that the electronic device (101) is charging while displaying the screen (5411).

[0707] For example, referring to state (5402), the electronic device (101), while displaying the home screen, in response to identifying that the electronic device (101) is charged (e.g., receiving power from an external electronic device), may display a widget (5421) indicating that the electronic device (101) is charged for a specified period of time instead of the visual objects displayed within the notification area (1411).
