Abstract
Description
[0001] Detergent tablets with adhesion layer
[0002] Conventional rimmed toilets have a specific design in which the rim is attached to the top edge of the bowl. The rim is a horizontal rim that extends along the top inner rim of the bowl and is positioned above the water level in the bowl.
[0003] The flushing mechanism of these toilets ensures that the flush water is directed through the rim to efficiently clean the inner surface of the toilet bowl. The rim helps distribute the water evenly, thus ensuring thorough cleaning.
[0004] Toilet cleaning blocks, also known as toilet blocks, have long been used to clean, disinfect, and scent toilets under the bowl (so-called rim blocks) and in the cistern (in-tank blocks or cistern blocks). In recent years, aesthetics and performance have become increasingly important. This has led, for example, to the development of solid, gel, or liquid fragranced air fresheners, some of which are offered in multi-chamber containers, thus combining a cleaning agent released when the toilet is flushed with a permanent room fragrance.
[0005] Solutions are known from the state of the art in which a cleaning product is applied to the surface of the toilet bowl.
[0006] EP 2 141 221 A1 discloses an adhesive cleaning product comprising a substantially flat adhesive surface for being adhered to a surface, such as the wall of the toilet bowl, and an opposite active surface, which is preferably rounded, and faces outwards and is subjected to the action of the water flow, for example the flushing water of the toilet.
[0007] The cleaning product is packaged as a disposable applicator. The cleaning product is contained in a tray. The applicator comprises handle sections connected to the tray. Finally, closure means are provided on the device 100. The closure means are designed, for example, in the form of a peelable film that is firmly connected to the outer ring or to the tray itself. The prior art cleaning product is packaged as a disposable applicator. The cleaning product is contained in a tray. The applicator comprises handle sections connected to the tray. The cleaning product has a substantially flat adhesive layer. Finally, closure means are provided on the disposable applicator to prevent the products from sticking together before use. The closure means are designed, for example, in the form of a peelable film that is firmly connected to the outer ring or to the tray itself.
[0008] Newer rimless toilets, also known as "rimless toilets," differ in their design from conventional rimless toilets. These modern toilets are characterized by the absence of a horizontal rim at the top of the inside of the bowl.
[0009] The rimless design offers several advantages. First, it makes cleaning easier, as there's no rim where deposits and bacteria can accumulate. This contributes to a more hygienic environment and reduces cleaning effort.
[0010] Rimless toilets' flushing technology is designed to ensure that flush water reaches the entire interior surface of the bowl effectively and evenly. This enables thorough cleaning and helps minimize unpleasant odors.
[0011] The well-known toilet cleaning pieces, also known as toilet blocks, are designed for rimmed toilets. However, due to their different construction and, in particular, the different flush water flow, these solutions are not suitable for rimless toilets.
[0012] Furthermore, the current state-of-the-art solutions are not ecologically sustainable because they require complex packaging. Therefore, there is a need for cleaning products that overcome these disadvantages.
[0013] These disadvantages are overcome by the invention according to the following aspect:

[0015] The solution according to the invention is more ecologically sustainable than prior art solutions, as it eliminates the need for complex packaging. The adhesive layer, made of a water-soluble material, only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface. Sealing devices to prevent the products from sticking together before use are therefore unnecessary.

[0075] Embodiment
[0076] Figure 11b: Packaging unit with a detergent shaped body according to the second embodiment. Figure 1 shows the self-adhesive detergent shaped body (10) according to a first embodiment, comprising: a shaped body (20) having a planar underside (21) and a top side (22); and an adhesion layer (31) arranged at least on the planar underside (21) of the shaped body (20), wherein the adhesion layer (31) is formed from a water-soluble material and only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface (40), wherein the adhesion layer (31) has a thickness in a range between 10 μm and 3 mm#.
[0077] Preferably, the molded body is free of adhesion promoters, so that the adhesive effect is essentially achieved by the water-soluble film.
[0078] Figure 2 shows a use of the self-adhesive detergent molding 10, wherein the detergent molding 10 is applied with the planar underside 21 to a moistened sanitary surface 40. The adhesive layer 31 is formed from a water-soluble material and only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface 40.
[0079] One adhesion layer 31 is arranged on the planar underside 21 of the molded body 20.
[0080] However, the adhesive layer is not necessarily limited to the underside 21. The solution according to the invention is more ecologically sustainable than the solutions known from the prior art, as it eliminates the need for complex packaging. This is because the adhesive layer, which is made of a water-soluble material, only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface. Sealing means to prevent the products from sticking together before use are therefore unnecessary.
[0081] The product according to the invention, on the other hand, has an adhesion layer which is formed from a water-soluble material and only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface.
[0082] The adhesion layer has a thickness in a range between 1 μm and 1 mm, preferably 10 μm to 50 μm. Within the specified range, it has been found that the self-adhesion of the surface can be reduced, particularly if the products are stored in a dry environment. Upon contact with a moistened surface, however, the adhesion layer, whose thickness is within the specified range, preferably becomes sticky and exhibits no residue after rinsing off the detergent tablet.
[0083] In particular, it was found that an adhesion layer thinner than the lower limit of the specified range does not become sufficiently self-adhesive to a moistened surface.
[0084] Furthermore, it was found that an adhesion layer thicker than the upper limit of the specified range leaves aesthetically unsightly residues on the surface of the sanitary article.
[0085] Figure 3 shows the self-adhesive cleaning agent molded body according to a second embodiment. The first adhesive layer 31 is formed from a water-soluble material and only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface 40. A second water-soluble adhesive layer 32 is arranged on the upper side 22 of the molded body 20 and serves as a protective film. The first adhesive layer 31 and the second adhesive layer 32 are at least partially unconnected, so that a certain distance exists between the two.
[0086] Figure 4a shows the cleaning agent molded body 10 according to the second embodiment on the moistened sanitary surface 40 before flushing. The second adhesion layer 32 is still arranged on the upper side 22 of the molded body 20 before flushing.
[0087] Figure 4b shows the cleaning agent molded body 10 on the moistened sanitary surface 40 after rinsing. The second adhesive layer 32 is detached from the top side 22 of the molded body 20 with the rinsing, while the first adhesive layer 31 ensures adhesion to the surface 40.
[0088] Figure 5a shows a use of the self-adhesive cleaning agent molded body 10 according to a third embodiment, wherein the cleaning agent molded body 10 is applied with the planar underside 21 to a moistened sanitary surface 40. The adhesive layer 31 is preferably formed from a water-soluble material and only becomes self-adhesive upon contact with a moistened surface 40. One adhesive layer 31 is arranged on the planar underside 21 of the molded body 20.
[0089] However, the adhesion layer is not necessarily limited to the underside 21. The shaped body 30 has a first turning point 25. Figure 5b shows the cleaning agent shaped body 10 according to the third embodiment on the moistened sanitary surface 40 during flushing. The water is advantageously guided over the surface of the shaped body 20. This is achieved in that the shaped body 30 has a first turning point 25. Furthermore, the shaped body has a second turning point 27 and an apex 26 which is arranged between the first turning point 25 and the second turning point 27. During flushing, the water flow is first guided over the first turning point 25 and then flows over an apex and finally over the second turning point 27. It has been found that such a water flow guidance improves the rinsing behavior. The fragrances and cleaning agents contained in the molded body can be released preferentially into the rinsing water.
[0090] Figure 7a: Top view of a self-adhesive detergent tablet according to a fourth embodiment.
[0091] The shaped body (20) has a planar underside (21) which forms a plane in the xy direction and a top side (22); and an adhesion layer (31) which is arranged at least on the planar underside (21) of the shaped body (20), characterized in that the underside (21) of the shaped body (20) has an n-fold axis of symmetry along the z-axis, where n is >3.
[0092] Figure 7b: Top view of a self-adhesive detergent shaped body according to the fourth embodiment during rinsing.
[0093] In contrast to prior art solutions, the inventive solution takes into account the special features of rim-free toilets. Rim-free toilets refer to toilets designed without a traditional flushing rim. These toilets have a smooth, rimless inner bowl, which makes cleaning easier because less dirt and germs can accumulate in hard-to-reach areas.
[0094] The elimination of the rim also allows for more effective flushing, as the water flows directly into the drain without being interrupted by a rim. Rim-free toilets have become popular in some countries because they are considered more hygienic and easier to clean.
[0095] In a rimless toilet, the water flows differently than in conventional toilets with a flushing rim. A rimless toilet has no flushing rim, meaning the water flows directly from one or more jets into the toilet bowl. This design is intended to help distribute the water more effectively across the entire interior surface of the bowl.
[0096] The inventive shape of the self-adhesive cleaning agent molded body takes into account the different flow pattern, as the design of rim-free toilets is geared toward effectively directing the water flow across the entire inner surface of the toilet bowl. The inventive symmetry demonstrates a preferential flow pattern over the cleaning agent molded body and thus improved flushing performance and adhesion, which will be explained in more detail below:
[0097] The symmetrical shaped body according to the invention with a rounded bottom exhibits efficient flow dynamics, allowing water to flow evenly around the body. This is shown in the following figure:
[0098] Due to the higher rotational symmetry of the underside of the detergent body, a lateral water flow can help to distribute the rinse water evenly around the entire body, resulting in even cleaning.
[0099] In particular, it will help create efficient flow dynamics as the water flows around the body. This can improve cleaning efficiency because the water is evenly distributed throughout the entire molded body. This minimizes "dead zones" where the water doesn't circulate well with a rotationally symmetrical body, as the shape doesn't change upon rotation. Lateral water flow helps break through these dead zones and ensure that all areas of the body are reached.
[0100] Furthermore, turbulence is minimized because the flow around the body is more even. Turbulence can prevent dirt particles from being effectively flushed away, especially in the case of a sideways water flow like that found in rim-free toilets.
[0101] Rinsing the body evenly also improves its adhesion to the surface, preventing the adhesive layer from being detached unevenly. Rinsing evenly helps ensure that pressure is applied evenly across the surface. Uneven water flow can lead to local pressure differences that could cause the adhesive layer to detach unevenly. Rinsing evenly reduces the likelihood of the adhesive layer adhering more strongly to certain areas than others. This helps ensure consistent detachment across the entire surface.
[0102] Overall, the symmetry according to the invention shows a preferential flow over the detergent tablet and thus an improved rinsing behavior and adhesion.
[0103] Figure 8: The self-adhesive cleaning agent shaped body according to the fifth embodiment in side view. The shaped body 20 has a planar underside 21, which forms a plane in the xy direction, and a top side 22; and an adhesion layer 31, which is arranged at least on the planar underside 21 of the shaped body 20, characterized in that the underside 21 of the shaped body 20 has an n-fold axis of symmetry along the z-axis, where n is >3. 3. The top side 22 of the shaped body 20 has at least one vertex 26 in the z-direction.
[0104] Figure 9: Top view of a self-adhesive cleaning agent shaped body according to a sixth embodiment. The shaped body (20) has a first plane of symmetry (71) perpendicular to the planar underside (21) in the yz direction. Furthermore, the shaped body (20) has a second plane of symmetry (72) perpendicular to the planar underside (21) in the xz direction.
[0105] Figure 10a: The self-adhesive cleaning agent shaped body according to the sixth embodiment in side view. This shows a shaped body (20) having a planar underside (21), which forms a plane in the xy direction, and a top side (22); and an adhesion layer (31), which is arranged at least on the planar underside (21) of the shaped body (20). The shaped body (20) has a first plane of symmetry (71) perpendicular to the planar underside (21) in the yz direction. Furthermore, the shaped body (20) has a second plane of symmetry (72) perpendicular to the planar underside (21) in the xz direction.
[0106] Figure 10b: The self-adhesive cleaning agent molded body according to the sixth embodiment, showing the flush water flow. In contrast to prior art solutions, the inventive solution of this embodiment takes into account the special features of rim-free toilets. Rim-free toilets refer to toilets designed without a traditional flushing rim. These toilets have a smooth, rimless inner bowl, which makes cleaning easier because less dirt and germs can accumulate in hard-to-reach areas. Eliminating the rim also allows for more effective flushing, as the water flows directly into the drain without being interrupted by a rim. Rim-free toilets have become popular in some countries because they are considered more hygienic and easier to clean.
[0107] In a rimless toilet, the water flows differently than in conventional toilets with a flushing rim. A rimless toilet has no flushing rim, meaning the water flows directly from one or more jets into the toilet bowl. This design is intended to help distribute the water more effectively across the entire interior surface of the bowl.
[0108] The inventive shape of the self-adhesive cleaning agent shaped body takes into account the different flow guidance in that the design of rim-free toilets is aimed at effectively directing the water flow over the entire inner surface of the toilet bowl.
[0109] The symmetry according to the invention exhibits a preferential flow over the detergent tablet and thus improved rinsing behavior and adhesion. Due to the higher rotational symmetry of the underside of the detergent tablet, a lateral water flow can contribute to distributing the rinse water evenly around the entire tablet, leading to even cleaning. In particular, it will help to create efficient flow dynamics when the water flows over the entire tablet. This even flow is favored by the mirror-symmetrical geometry of the tablet. This can improve cleaning efficiency because the water is directed evenly over the entire tablet. In particular, turbulence is minimized because the flow over the tablet is more even.Turbulence can prevent dirt particles from being effectively flushed away, especially in the case of lateral water flow such as that found in rim-free toilets.
[0110] Overall, the mirror-symmetrical geometry according to the invention shows a preferred flow pattern over the detergent shaped body.
[0111] Figure 11a: Packaging unit with a cleaning agent shaped body according to the first embodiment. Figure 11b: Packaging unit with a cleaning agent shaped body according to the second embodiment. The solution according to the invention is more ecologically sustainable than the solutions known from the prior art, as complex packaging can be dispensed with. The first adhesion layer and the second adhesion layer are at least partially unconnected, so that a certain distance exists between them. This allows the second adhesion layer to be detached from the top of the shaped body shortly after rinsing, allowing the fragrances and cleaning agents contained in the shaped body to be released.
[0112] Unlike in the prior art, outer packaging of the individual detergent tablets 10, 12 can be completely dispensed with. In particular, the entire packaging unit 5 can be manufactured essentially free of synthetic polymer materials.
[0113] The structure of the detergent tablet (consisting of a tablet and an adhesion layer) and the tablet's shape with a planar underside and a non-planar top side are particularly suitable for the packaging unit described here comprising a plurality of tablets that do not require outer packaging. A tablet with a flat underside and a non-planar top side, particularly with an apex, improves stackability. The flat underside of the tablet provides a stable support surface on another surface. This enables reliable and stable stacking of several tablets on top of each other without them easily slipping or tipping. The flat underside ensures optimal use of the available space for stacking. There are no irregular bulges or unevenness that could inefficiently use the space between stacked tablets.
[0114] The apex on the top helps the topmost bodies adhere better to each other in a stack. This reduces the risk of the upper bodies slipping or shifting.
[0115] Advantages have been demonstrated, particularly in a packaging unit with detergent tablets, which have a water-soluble second adhesion layer arranged on the non-planar upper surface of the tablet. This reduces the risk of the upper tablets slipping or shifting.
