[0004] The conventional method of treating bruxism has always been by creating customized mouth guards that don’t prevent the main action of bruxism but rather prevent teeth from wearing down only. These conventional appliances don’t act on the main cause which is the bruxism itself. In addition, it has been always suggested that people remove the stressing factors from their daily life to prevent and treat bruxism, which is practically speaking not possible, besides that bruxismwas found to have a genetic etiology especially when it is found in young children not exposed to life stresses yet.Solution to Problem

[0007] Figure 1 shows the maxillary and mandibular mouth guards shaded in light blue color and eight gold coated magnetic discs which are divided equally among both mouth guards. Three magnets are placed in the first premolar / first primary molar area and in the first permanent molar area bilaterally. These discs have a 7mm diameter and are 2mm thick. The mouth guards are made of double layer so that the magnets can be embedded between both sheets. Additional two magnets canbe placed in the anterior area, but these are not necessary if the patient is satisfied with the posterior magnets.Figure no.21. [0008] This is an intra-oral appliance consisting of customized maxillary and mandibular repulsing magnetic mouth guards designed for patients complaining of dental bruxism (teeth grinding or clenching) during the day or night.Each mouth guard is made after taking a maxillary and mandibular impression of each patient with alginate impression material, which is then poured into a stone model.A single sheet of mouth guard will be created using firm acrylic or flexible vinyl depending on the preference of the patient. This will be done using a vacuum press machine.Then three rare N42 earth neodymium magnets will be adapted to the mouth guard sheet bilaterally on the first permanent molar area and either on the 1stpremolar or on the 1stprimary molar area depending on the dental age of the patient. A second mouth guard sheet will be vacuum pressed on the 1st mouth guard sheet together with the adapted magnets.Repulsing magnets have a disc shape and have a 7mm diameter and 2mm thickness. They will be embedded in the maxillary and mandibular mouth guards, so that when they are worn the arches won't come into contact and therefore the clenching / grinding action will be inhibited from being initiated in the first place.Examples

[0009] For example, a patient, whether a child or adult, is complaining of bruxism during the night, the magnetic mouth guard can be fabricated for them by taking alginate impressions, and after pouring their casts, the maxillary and mandibular repulsing magnetic mouth guards will be fabricated on them.
