[0001] Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to a packaging system, specifically, a packaging system adapted for use as a wallet.BACKGROUND
[0002] There are many packaging systems for housing and dispensing consumable products, such as medication or gum, which are typically stored in blister packs such that individual pieces of consumable product can be dispensed. Users commonly carry such packages of consumable products in conveniently accessible locations on the person, such as within the pockets of jackets or pants, for example. Traditional packing systems are typically focused on providing a surface for displaying branding or informational material. As a result, traditional packing systems often compete for space in these conveniently accessible locations with other commonly-used articles, such as wallets or the increasingly prevalent smartphones. It is thus desired to provide a packaging system which offers improved practical functionality over existing devices in order to reduce clutter and improve ease of access to relevant articles stored in conveniently accessible locations on the person.SUMMARY

The packaging system comprises a plurality of panels configured to form a sleeve to hold a first article, such as a blister pack, and a compartmentconfigured to receive a second article, such as a credit card. The compartment may be removably attached to the sleeve. The compartment may be formed from a RFID-blocking material. The packaging system may additionally comprise a securing means for securing the packaging system to an object or surface, such as a mobile phone. [0028] A packaging system adapted for use as a wallet is described. Some variants of the packaging system are shown in FIGS. 1 to 15. In one embodiment, the packaging system 100 comprises a first panel 110, a second panel 120, and a third panel 130. The packaging system additionally comprises a first side panel 140 disposed between the first panel 110 and second panel 120, and a second side panel 150 disposed between the second panel 120 and third panel 130.
[0029] In some embodiments, a distal edge 132 of the third panel attaches to an intersection 112 of the first panel 110 and the first side panel 140 to form a sleeve 180, as shown in FIG. 6A for example, adapted to receive an article 170 such as a blister pack card or any other container for consumables as shown in FIGs. 14 and 15, for example. Edges 114 of the first panel 110 may contain adhesives 116 to attach the edges 114 of the first panel 110 to the edges 134 of the third panel 130, thereby forming a bi-layered structure forming a pocket 190 on one side of the sleeve 180. The first panel 110 additionally comprises slits 160 sized for receiving a card 300, such as an ISO / IEC 7810 ID-1 format (CR-80) credit card as shown in FIGs. 7A, 8A, 9 and 10, for example, or any other object commonly carried in a wallet. The packaging system 100 is preferably sized such that a card 300 inserted into the slits 160 will partially be held between the first panel 110 and third panel 130 of the bilayer, and will be partially protruding from the slits 160 for ease of access, as shown in FIGs. 7A, 8A, and 9, for example.
[0030] In another embodiment as shown in FIG. 16, the first panel 110 may attach to the second panel 120 at a first edge 118, and the third panel 130 panel is attached at an edge of the second panel 120 perpendicular to the first edge 118. In such an embodiment, the first sidepanel 140 may extend from another perpendicular edge of the second panel 120, while the second side panel 150 is disposed between the second panel 120 and third panel 130. In some such embodiments, the first side panel 140 may additionally comprise a region 142 for attaching to the third panel 130 to form a sleeve. The inner layer remains attached to the first side panel 140 and second side panel 150 forming the sleeve 180, while the first panel 110 and the outer layer of the third panel 130 forms the bilayer having slits 160, forming a compact card wallet detachable from the sleeve 180. In such an embodiment, the firstpanel 110 and the outer layer of the third panel ideally is formed from, or incorporates a material which blocks RFID in order to form a detachable RFID-blocking card wallet, for example. The means include, but are not limited to, a chemical adhesive, such as a glue, which may be reusable to allow re-attachment of the bilayer to the sleeve 180, or may be a mechanical fastener, such as hook-and-loop fastener or any other suitable fastener, or an additional layer or layers exhibiting properties allowing the outer layer and inner layer to be secured together.
[0037] In yet other embodiments, such as shown in FIG 17, the third panel 130 may comprise a separate pouch 200 attached to the third panel 130. The pouch 200 may be configured or shaped to hold a card 300, such as an ISO / IEC 7810 ID- 1 format (CR-80) credit card, or any other object common carried in a wallet. In some embodiments, the pouch 200 may be removably attached to the third panel 130, such as by one or more frangible portions or connections between the pouch 200 and the third panel 130, or an adhesive, or any other method of attaching the pouch 200 to the third panel 130 which can be easily severed by hand. In other embodiments, the pouch 200 may be integral to the third panel 130. The pouch 200 may be formed of any suitable material, and may be formed from an identical material to the first panel 110, second panel 120, or third panel 130, or may be formed from a different material. In some embodiments, the pouch 200 may be formed from or incorporate an RFID-blocking material. In some embodiments, the pouch 200 may be formed from a water-resistant or waterproof material.
[0038] In some embodiments, such as shown in FIGS. 18 to 20, the packaging system 100 may additionally comprise a securing means 210 for securing the pouch 200 to an object 220, such as a mobile phone, metallic surface, or any other suitable or convenient object. The securing means 210 may include, but are not limited to adhesives, mechanical fasteners, or a magnet. The securing means 210 may be disposed on an exterior surface or interior surface of the sleeve 180, such as on a face of the first panel 110, second panel 120, or third panel 130. In other embodiments, the securing means 210 may be attached to a removably attached pouch 200. In such embodiments, while the pouch 200 is attached to the sleeve 180, such as while attached to the third panel 130 as shown in FIG. 17, the securing means 210 may removably secure the entire packaging system 100 to the object220, and when the pouch 200 is removed from the sleeve 180, the securing means 210 may removably secure the pouch 200 to the object 220 without the sleeve 180. In one illustrative use of such an embodiment, while the article 170, such as a blister pack of gum, still contains articles, the securing means 210 may secure the entire packaging system 100 including the sleeve 180, article 170, pouch 200, and card 300 to the object 220 for ease of carrying, as shown in FIG. 19, for example. When the article 170 is depleted, such as when all the gum has been consumed, the pouch 200 may be separated from the sleeve 180, allowing the sleeve 180 and empty article 170 to be separated and discarded, while retaining the pouch 200 and card 300 which may continue to provide utility, such as RFID- blocking, as shown in FIG. 20, for example.
[0039] In one exemplary embodiment, as shown in FIG. 18, the securing means 210 may comprise a magnet or magnetic material. The magnet or magnetic material may be in the form of a strip, a ring, an ‘X’ or cross, or any other suitable shape or combination of shapes for securing the packaging system 100 or pouch 200 to an object 220.

Claims
WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. A packaging system, comprising: a first panel, a second panel, a third panel; wherein a distal edge of the third panel attaches to an intersection of the first panel and the second panel to form a sleeve dimensioned to receive a first article such that the first panel aligns with the third panel to form a pocket with said panel dimensioned to receive a second article; and wherein the first panel comprises an opening for receiving the second article to be held in the pocket.
2. The packaging system of claim 1, further comprising a first side panel, disposed at the intersection of the first panel and the second panel, and a second side panel disposed at an intersection of the second panel and the third panel, wherein the distal edge of the third panel attaches the first side panel.
3. The packaging system of any one of claims 1 or 2, wherein the first article is a blister pack, and the second article is a card.
4. The packaging system of any one of claims 1-3, wherein the opening comprises a plurality of slits.
5. The packaging system of any one of claims 1-4, wherein the pocket comprises a radio-frequency identification blocking material.
6. A packaging system, comprising: a first panel, a second panel, a third panel; wherein the first panel attaches to a first edge of the second panel, and the third panel is attached at a second edge of the second panel perpendicular to the first edge to form a sleeve dimensioned to receive a first article such that the first panel aligns with the second panel to form a pocket with said panel dimensioned to receive a second article; and wherein the first panel comprises an opening for receiving the second article to be held in the pocket.
7. The packaging system of claim 6, further comprising a first side panel, for attaching a distal edge of the second panel to a distal edge of the third panel, and a second side panel disposed at an intersection of the second panel and the third panel.
8. The packaging system of any one of claims 6 or 7, wherein the opening comprises a plurality of slits.
9. The packaging system of any one of claims 6-8, wherein the opening comprises a plurality of slits.
10. The packaging system of any one of claims 6-9, wherein the pocket comprises a radio-frequency identification blocking material.
11. A packaging system comprising: a first panel, a second panel, a third panel; wherein a distal edge of the third panel attaches to an intersection of the first panel and the second panel to form a sleeve dimensioned to receive a first article such that the first panel aligns with the third panel to form a pocket with said panel dimensioned to receive a second article; wherein the first panel comprises an opening for receiving the second article to be held in the pocket; and wherein the pocket is detachable from the sleeve.
12. The packaging system of claim 11, wherein the first panel comprises a frangible portion and the third panel comprises a frangible portion, wherein pocket is detachable from the sleeve upon breaking the respective frangible portions of the first panel and third panel.
13. The packaging system of claim 11, wherein the third panel comprises an outer layer and inner layer, and wherein the pocket is detachable from the sleeve by separating the outer layer from the inner layer, the outer layer forming the detached pocket, and the inner layer forming the sleeve.
14. The packaging system of any one of claims 11-13, further comprising a pouch detachably disposed a panel of the packaging system, the pouch shaped to hold a card.
15. The packaging system of claim 14, wherein the pouch is detachable by severing one or more frangible connections between the pouch and the panel.
16. The packaging system of claim 14, further comprising a connector for securing the pouch, wherein the pouch is removably attached to the panel via the connector.
17. The packaging system of claim 16, wherein the connector comprises an adhesive.
18. The packaging system of claim 16, wherein the connector comprises a hook-and- loop fastener.
19. The packaging system of claim 16, wherein the connector comprises a pair of magnets, a magnet disposed on each of the pouch, and the panel.
20. The packaging system of any one of claims 14-16, wherein the pouch comprises a radio-frequency identification blocking material.
21. The packaging system of any one of claims 1-20, further comprising a securing device for securing the packaging system, including the first article and the second article, to an object.
22. The packaging system of any one of claims 11-20 further comprising a securing device for securing the packaging system, including the first article and the second article, to an object, wherein the securing device is disposed on the detachable pocket.
23. The packaging system of any one of claims 14-20, further comprising a securing device for securing the packaging system, including the first article and the second article, to an object, wherein the securing device is disposed on the pouch.
24. The packaging system of any one of claims 21-24, wherein the securing device comprises a magnet.
