[0009] Examples of the present disclosure will be described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the following examples are examples that embody the present disclosure and do not limit the technical scope of the present disclosure. Furthermore, each drawing described in the embodiments is a schematic drawing, and the ratios of the sizes and thicknesses of the components in each drawing do not necessarily reflect the actual dimensional ratios.
[0010] 1A, 1B, and 1C show the configuration of an air purifying device 100. FIG. 1A is a perspective view showing the exterior of the air purifying device 100. The main body case 10 has a box-like shape and is surrounded by a front surface 12, a rear surface 14, a first side surface 16, a second side surface 18, a top surface 20, and a bottom surface 22. The direction from the front surface 12 to the rear surface 14 is the rearward direction, and the direction from the rear surface 14 to the front surface 12 is the forward direction. The direction from the first side surface 16 to the second side surface 18 is the leftward direction, and the direction from the second side surface 18 to the first side surface 16 is the rightward direction. The direction from the top surface 20 to the bottom surface 22 is the downward direction, and the direction from the bottom surface 22 to the top surface 20 is the upward direction. Therefore, the front surface 12 and the rear surface 14 are arranged opposite each other in the front-to-rear direction, the first side surface 16 and the second side surface 18 are arranged opposite each other in the left-to-right direction, and the top surface 20 and the bottom surface 22 are arranged opposite each other in the up-down direction.
[0011] The front surface 12, rear surface 14, first side surface 16, second side surface 18, top surface 20, and bottom surface 22 each have a rectangular shape. The widths of the front surface 12, rear surface 14, top surface 20, and bottom surface 22 in the left-right direction are shorter than the widths of the first side surface 16, second side surface 18, top surface 20, and bottom surface 22 in the front-to-back direction. The widths of the front surface 12, rear surface 14, top surface 20, and bottom surface 22 in the left-to-right direction are also shorter than the heights of the front surface 12, rear surface 14, first side surface 16, and second side surface 18 in the up-down direction. As a result, the main body case 10 has a thin shape in the left-to-right direction.
[0012] The front air inlet 30 is provided on the front surface 12 of the main body case 10. The side air inlet 32 is provided on at least one of the first side surface 16 or the second side surface 18 of the main body case 10. For example, it is provided on the lower part of the first side surface 16. The air outlet 34 is provided on the top surface 20 of the main body case 10. The front air inlet 30, the side air inlet 32, and the air outlet 34 are openings. Therefore, the inside and outside of the air purifying device 100 are connected via the front air inlet 30, the side air inlet 32, and the air outlet 34.
[0013] FIG. 1B is a perspective view showing the internal configuration of the air purifying device 100 with the first side surface 16 removed from FIG. 1A, and FIG. 1C is a cross-sectional view taken along the line A-A' of FIG. 1B. FIG. 1C shows the first side surface 16. Inside the main body case 10, a front-side air purifying unit 40 is disposed behind the front air inlet 30. Inside the main body case 10, a bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is disposed above the upper edge of the side air inlet 32 and the bottom surface 22. The bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is disposed above the bottom surface 22 and above the upper edge of the side air inlet 32. The front-side air purifying unit 40 and the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 have a plate shape. The front-side air purifying unit 40 is disposed facing the front surface 12, and the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is disposed facing the bottom surface 22. The front air purifying unit 40 and the bottom air purifying unit 42 are dust filters. Known techniques may be used for the dust filters, and therefore a description thereof will be omitted here.
[0014] Inside the main body case 10, a storage space 50 is formed, surrounded by the front air purifying unit 40, the bottom air purifying unit 42, the rear surface 14, the first side surface 16, the second side surface 18, and the top surface 20. A blower unit 60 is disposed in the storage space 50. The blower unit 60 includes a casing 62, a first air intake port 64, a second air intake port 66, a motor 68, impellers 70, and an outlet port 72. The casing 62 is a hollow frame having a cylindrical portion with a left-right axis and legs extending upward from part of the side surface of the cylindrical portion.
[0015] A first air intake port 64 is provided on the surface of the cylindrical portion of the casing 62 facing the first side surface 16, and a second air intake port 66 is provided on the surface of the cylindrical portion of the casing 62 facing the second side surface 18. In other words, the first air intake port 64 faces the first side surface 16, and the second air intake port 66 faces the second side surface 18. The first air intake port 64 and the second air intake port 66 are openings. Therefore, the inside and outside of the casing 62 are connected via the first air intake port 64 and the second air intake port 66.
[0016] A motor 68 and a plurality of blades 70 are housed inside the cylindrical portion of the casing 62. An example of the plurality of blades 70 is a sirocco fan. The motor 68 is fixed to the casing 62 with mounting screws or the like and has an output shaft extending in the left-right direction. The blades 70 are attached to the output shaft of the motor 68. An outlet port 72, which is an opening in the casing 62, is provided in the upper part of the leg portion of the casing 62. The outlet port 72 is connected to the air outlet 34 on the top surface 20.
[0017] When the motor 68 operates to rotate the blades 70, air outside the main body case 10 is drawn into the storage space 50 through the front air inlet 30 and the front air purifying unit 40, and also through the side air inlet 32 and the bottom air purifying unit 42. The air drawn into the storage space 50 is drawn into the casing 62 through the first air inlet 64 and the second air inlet 66, and then blown out of the main body case 10 through the discharge port 72 and the air outlet 34.
[0018] The main body case 10 is provided with not only the front-side air purifying unit 40, which allows air to pass rearward, but also the bottom-side air purifying unit 42, which allows air to pass upward, thereby maintaining dust collection performance. Furthermore, the main body case 10 is not provided with a filter that allows air to pass left and right, so the main body case 10 is slimmer in the left and right direction. The cross-sectional air passage area of the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is made larger than the opening area of the side air inlet 32, thereby reducing pressure loss of air flowing into the main body case 10.
[0019] (Variation 1) Fig. 2 shows the configuration of an air purifying device 100 according to Variation 1. Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken in the same direction as Fig. 1C. The lower-side air purifying unit 42 is provided at an angle relative to the lower surface 22. In particular, the height of the first side surface 16 side of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 is different from the height of the second side surface 18 side of the lower-side air purifying unit 42. For example, the height of the first side surface 16 side of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 is lower than the height of the second side surface 18 side of the lower-side air purifying unit 42. The height relationship of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 in the left-right direction may be reversed.
[0020] (Variation 2) Figures 3A and 3B show the configuration of an air purifying device 100 according to Variation 2. Figure 3A is a perspective view in the same direction as Figure 1B, and Figure 3B is a cross-sectional view in the same direction as Figure 1C. Figure 3B is a cross-sectional view taken along the line B-B' of Figure 3A. Here, the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the front surface 12 side is different from the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the rear surface 14 side. For example, the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the front surface 12 side is higher than the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the rear surface 14 side. The height relationship of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 in the vertical direction may be reversed.
[0021] According to this embodiment, the front-side air purifying unit 40 is disposed behind the front air inlet 30 inside the main body case 10, and the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is disposed above the bottom surface 22 and the side air inlets 32, thereby maintaining dust collection performance. Furthermore, since the front-side air purifying unit 40 is disposed behind the front air inlet 30 inside the main body case 10, and the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is disposed above the bottom surface 22 and the side air inlets 32, and no other air purifying units are disposed inside the main body case 10, the housing can be made thinner horizontally. Furthermore, the cross-sectional air passage area of the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is larger than the opening area of the side air inlets 32, thereby reducing pressure loss of air flowing into the main body case 10. Furthermore, since the bottom-side air purifying unit 42 is disposed facing the bottom surface 22, the bottom surface 22 side, which was not previously used as an air purifying unit, is used as an air purifying unit, eliminating the need for air purifying units on the first side surface 16 and the second side surface 18.
[0022] Furthermore, because the lower-side air purifying unit 42 is provided at an angle relative to the lower surface 22, the cross-sectional area of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 can be increased. Furthermore, because the cross-sectional area of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 is increased, the pressure loss of air flowing into the main body case 10 can be reduced. Furthermore, because the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the first side surface 16 side is different from the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the second side surface 18 side, the lower-side air purifying unit 42 can be provided at an angle relative to the lower surface 22. Furthermore, because the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the front surface 12 side is different from the height of the lower-side air purifying unit 42 on the rear surface 14 side, the lower-side air purifying unit 42 can be provided at an angle relative to the lower surface 22.
