Description

Audio provision system and authentication method thereof

[0001] The present invention relates to an audio providing system and an authentication method thereof.

[0002]

[0003] Today, a variety of services using electronic devices are available to consumers. These services are widely used because they can be updated via communication networks without requiring replacement. However, cases of illegally copying these devices and using them for paid services are also on the rise.

[0004] To prevent such unauthorized use, authentication is sometimes performed using device-specific serial numbers or batch-specific production credentials. However, if serial numbers or production credentials are leaked, third parties can illegally copy electronic devices until the authentication based on the leaked information is revoked. Furthermore, if authentication based on leaked information is revoked en masse, even products that were normally produced and distributed may have their authentication revoked.

[0005] Accordingly, a method to selectively deal with pirated products is required.

[0010]

[0011] The object of the present invention is to provide an audio providing system and an authentication method thereof capable of confirming whether a product is a duplicate and providing a service accordingly.

[0012] The objectives of the present invention are not limited to those mentioned above. Other objectives and advantages of the present invention not mentioned above can be understood through the following description and will be more clearly understood through the embodiments of the present invention. Furthermore, it will be readily apparent that the objectives and advantages of the present invention can be realized by the means and combinations thereof set forth in the claims.

[0013]

[0014] According to some embodiments of the present invention for solving the above problem, an authentication method includes a step in which an audio output device transmits a production credential for a production unit of the audio output device to an authentication server, a step in which the authentication server generates a runtime credential corresponding to the audio output device, a step in which the authentication server provides the runtime credential to the audio output device, a step in which the authentication server transmits information about the runtime credential to a content server, a step in which the content server registers the runtime credential provided from the authentication server, a step in which the audio output device transmits a content request signal for the sound content to the content server, and a step in which the content server determines whether to provide the sound content to the audio output device using the content request signal and the registered runtime credential.

[0015] Additionally, the step of generating the runtime credential may include the step of performing authentication for an audio output device using the production credential and the step of generating the runtime credential corresponding to the audio output device.

[0016] Additionally, the content request signal may include the runtime credentials.

[0017] In addition, the step of determining whether to provide the sound content may include the step of determining whether the registered runtime credential and the runtime credential included in the content request signal are identical, and the step of providing the sound content to the audio output device if the registered runtime credential and the runtime credential included in the content request signal are identical.

[0018] In addition, the step of determining whether to provide the sound content may further include a step of not providing the sound content to the audio output device if the registered runtime credential and the runtime credential included in the content request signal are not identical.

[0019] In addition, the method may further include a step in which the authentication server revokes authentication for the runtime credential, a step in which the authentication server transmits information about the revoked runtime credential to the content server, and a step in which the content server registers the revocation of the runtime credential provided by the authentication server.

[0020] In addition, the step of determining whether to provide the sound content may include the step of determining whether a runtime credential included in the content request signal has been registered for withdrawal, and the step of not providing the sound content to the audio output device if the runtime credential included in the content request signal has been registered for withdrawal.

[0021] Additionally, the step of determining whether to provide the sound content may further include a step of providing the sound content to the audio output device if the runtime credential included in the content request signal is not registered for withdrawal.

[0022] According to some embodiments of the present invention for solving the above problem, an authentication method includes a step in which a first audio output device transmits a first production credential for a production unit of the first audio output device to an authentication server, a step in which a second audio output device transmits a first production credential for a production unit of the second audio output device to the authentication server, a step in which the authentication server generates a first runtime credential corresponding to the first audio output device, a step in which the authentication server generates a second runtime credential corresponding to the second audio output device and different from the first runtime credential, a step in which a content server determines whether to provide the sound content to the first audio output device based on a state of the first runtime credential, and a step in which the content server determines whether to provide the sound content to the second audio output device based on a state of the second runtime credential.

[0023] Additionally, the step of generating the first runtime credential may include the step of generating the first runtime credential corresponding to the first audio output device, the step of providing the first runtime credential to the first audio output device, and the step of transmitting information about the first runtime credential to the content server for registration.

[0024] In addition, the step of determining whether to provide the sound content to the first audio output device may include the step of receiving a content request signal for the sound content from the first audio output device, the step of determining whether the registered first runtime credential and the first runtime credential included in the content request signal are identical, and the step of providing the sound content to the first audio output device when the registered first runtime credential and the first runtime credential included in the content request signal are identical.

[0025] In addition, the method may further include a step in which the authentication server revokes authentication for the first runtime credential, a step in which the authentication server transmits information about the revoked first runtime credential to the content server, and a step in which the content server registers the revocation of the first runtime credential received from the authentication server.

[0026] In addition, the step of determining whether to provide the sound content to the first audio output device may include the step of receiving a content request signal for the sound content from the first audio output device, the step of determining whether the first runtime credential has been registered for withdrawal, and the step of not providing the sound content to the first audio output device if the first runtime credential has been registered for withdrawal.

[0027] According to some embodiments of the present invention for solving the above problem, an audio providing system includes an audio output device including a production credential for a production unit, a content server providing sound content to the audio output device, and an authentication server performing authentication on the audio output device, wherein the authentication server receives the production credential from the audio output device, generates a runtime credential corresponding to the audio output device, provides the runtime credential to the audio output device, and transmits information on the runtime credential to the content server, and the content server registers the runtime credential provided from the authentication server, receives a content request signal for the sound content from the audio output device, and determines whether to provide the sound content to the audio output device using the content request signal and the runtime credential.

[0028] In addition, determining whether to provide the sound content may include determining whether the registered runtime credential and the runtime credential included in the content request signal are identical, and if the registered runtime credential and the runtime credential included in the content request signal are identical, providing the sound content to the audio output device.

[0029] Additionally, the authentication server may revoke authentication for the runtime credential and further transmit information about the revoked runtime credential to the content server, and the content server may further register the revocation of the runtime credential provided by the authentication server.

[0030] In addition, determining whether to provide the sound content may include determining whether a runtime credential included in the content request signal has been registered for withdrawal, and if the runtime credential included in the content request signal has been registered for withdrawal, not providing the sound content to the audio output device.

[0031]

[0032] The audio provision system and authentication method of the present invention differ from the production credentials assigned to audio output devices during the production process, and can assign unique runtime credentials to each audio output device. This allows for selective revocation of authentication for only the duplicated device, preventing the use of duplicates if duplicates are produced from the same production unit.

[0050]

[0051] Hereinafter, with reference to FIGS. 1 to 8, an audio provision system and an authentication method thereof according to some embodiments of the present invention will be described.

[0052] FIG. 1 is a conceptual diagram illustrating an audio providing system according to some embodiments of the present invention.

[0053] Referring to FIG. 1, an audio providing system according to some embodiments of the present invention includes an audio output device (100), a content server (200), an authentication server (300), and a communication network (400). Here, the audio output device (100) operates in connection with the content server (200) and the authentication server (300) through the communication network (400), and can transmit and receive data.

[0054] The audio output device (100) may be configured to output sound content (Cnt) for auditory stimulation of infants and toddlers. The audio output device (100) may transmit a content request signal (Rqst) for the sound content to the content server (200). Subsequently, the audio output device (100) may receive the sound content (Cnt) from the content server (200) and output the sound content (Cnt).

[0055] The audio output device (100) may transmit a production credential (PC) for a production unit (batch) to the authentication server (300). For example, the production credential (PC) may include data about the production unit of the audio output device (100) and may include information about at least one of a manufacturing plant, a manufacturing line, and a manufacturing date and time. Accordingly, multiple audio output devices (100) in the same production unit may have the same production credential (PC).

[0056] Additionally, the audio output device (100) can receive a runtime credential (RC) from the authentication server (300). Here, the runtime credential (RC) is data corresponding to the audio output device (100) and can be assigned to the audio output device (100) that has been authenticated by the authentication server (300). Multiple audio output devices (100) in the same production unit can be assigned different runtime credentials (RC).

[0057] The authentication server (300) can receive a production credential (PC) from an audio output device (100) and generate a runtime credential (RC). The authentication server (300) can transmit information (D_RC) about the runtime credential (RC) to the content server (200).

[0058] Additionally, the authentication server (300) may revoke authentication for a runtime credential (RC) if duplication of the audio output device (100) is suspected. The authentication server (300) may transmit information (D_RV) regarding the revoked runtime credential to the content server (200).

[0059] When a content server (200) receives a content request signal (Rqst), it can determine whether to provide sound content (Cnt) based on at least one of information (D_RC) and information (D_RV). Depending on whether or not to provide the sound content (Cnt), the content server (200) can provide or not provide the sound content (Cnt) to the audio output device (100).

[0060] Meanwhile, the communication network (400) plays a role of connecting the audio output device (100), the content server (200), and the authentication server (300). That is, the communication network (400) refers to a communication network that provides a connection path so that the audio output device (100) can transmit and receive data after connecting to the content server (200) or the authentication server (300). The communication network (400) may include wired networks such as LANs (Local Area Networks), WANs (Wide Area Networks), MANs (Metropolitan Area Networks), and ISDNs (Integrated Service Digital Networks), or wireless networks such as wireless LANs, CDMA, Bluetooth, and satellite communication, but the scope of the present invention is not limited thereto.

[0061]

[0062] Fig. 2 is a flowchart for explaining an authentication method performed in the audio provision system of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a flowchart for explaining in detail steps S45 and S50 of Fig. 2. Parts overlapping with the above contents are omitted or simplified.

[0063] Referring to FIG. 2, the audio output device (100) transmits a production credential to the authentication server (300) (S10). Subsequently, the authentication server (300) authenticates the audio output device (100) and generates a runtime credential (S15).

[0064] The audio output device (100) can transmit a production credential (PC) to the authentication server (300). The authentication server (300) can perform authentication on the audio output device (100) using the production credential (PC). Here, authentication may be authentication as to whether the audio output device (100) is a normally manufactured product. When authentication is completed, the authentication server (300) can generate a runtime credential (RC) corresponding to the audio output device (100). At this time, the production credential (PC) corresponds to a production unit of the audio output device (100), and the runtime credential (RC) may correspond to each audio output device. In other words, multiple audio output devices (100) may have the same production credential (PC) but different runtime credential (RC).

[0065] Next, the authentication server (300) provides runtime credentials to the audio output device (100) (S20). In addition, the authentication server (300) transmits information about the runtime credentials to the content server (200) (S30).

[0066] The authentication server (300) can provide the generated runtime credential (RC) to the audio output device (100). In addition, the authentication server (300) can transmit information (D_RC) about the runtime credential (RC) to the content server (200).

[0067] Next, the content server (200) registers runtime credentials (S35).

[0068] The content server (200) can internally register a runtime credential (RC) provided from the authentication server (300). Later, the content server (200) can use the registered runtime credential (RC) for verification.

[0069] Meanwhile, the audio output device (100) transmits a content request signal to the content server (200) (S40).

[0070] The audio output device (100) can transmit a content request signal (Rqst) for sound content (Cnt) to the content server (200). At this time, the content request signal (Rqst) can include a runtime credential (RC) provided to the audio output device (100).

[0071] Next, the content server (200) verifies the runtime credentials (S45). Then, the content server (200) determines whether to provide sound content based on the verification result (S50).

[0072] In detail, referring further to FIG. 3, the content server (200) determines whether the runtime credential included in the content request signal is identical to the registered runtime credential (S45). If the runtime credential included in the content request signal is identical to the registered runtime credential, the content server (200) provides sound content to the audio output device (100) (S51). On the other hand, if the runtime credential included in the content request signal is not identical to the registered runtime credential, the content server (200) does not provide sound content to the audio output device (100) (S52).

[0073] The content server (200) may determine that the audio output device (100) has an invalid runtime credential (RC) if the runtime credential (RC) included in the content request signal (Rqst) is different from the registered runtime credential (RC). In this case, the invalid runtime credential (RC) may be a runtime credential (RC) that is not registered with the content server (200). For example, the invalid runtime credential (RC) may be a runtime credential (RC) that is imitated and created by a third party. Accordingly, the content server (200) may not provide sound content (Cnt) to the audio output device (100) that has an invalid runtime credential (RC).

[0074] Although the drawing illustrates that step S30 is performed after step S20, the present embodiment is not limited thereto. Step S20 may be performed after step S30, or the two steps may be performed simultaneously.

[0075] Additionally, although not shown in the drawing, steps S40 to S50 may be performed repeatedly. For example, if sound content is to be updated in the audio output device (100) following steps S10 to S50, steps S40 to S50 may be performed immediately thereafter.

[0076]

[0077] Fig. 4 is a flowchart for explaining an authentication method performed in the audio provision system of Fig. 1, and Fig. 5 is a flowchart for explaining in detail steps S85 and S90 of Fig. 4. Parts that overlap with the above-described content are omitted or simplified.

[0078] Referring to FIG. 4, the authentication server (300) revokes authentication for a runtime credential (S60). Subsequently, the authentication server (300) transmits information about the revoked runtime credential to the content server (200) (S70).

[0079] If piracy or a problem is suspected, the authentication server (300) may revoke authentication for a runtime credential (RC). The authentication server (300) may transmit information (D_RV) regarding the revoked runtime credential to the content server (200).

[0080] Next, the content server (200) registers the withdrawal of runtime credentials (S75).

[0081] The content server (200) may receive information (D_RV) regarding a revoked runtime credential and, based on this, register the revocation of the runtime credential (RC). For example, the content server (200) may change the status of a runtime credential (RC) registered within the content server (200) to 'Revoked'.

[0082] Meanwhile, the audio output device (100) transmits a content request signal to the content server (200) (S80).

[0083] An audio output device (100) can transmit a content request signal (Rqst) for sound content (Cnt) to a content server (200). At this time, the content request signal (Rqst) can include a runtime credential (RC) assigned to the audio output device (100).

[0084] Next, the content server (200) verifies the runtime credentials (S85). Next, the content server (200) determines whether to provide sound content to the audio output device (100) based on the verification result (S90).

[0085] Specifically, referring to FIG. 5 further, the content server (200) determines whether the runtime credential included in the content request signal has been registered for withdrawal (S85). If the runtime credential included in the content request signal has been registered for withdrawal, the content server (200) does not provide sound content to the audio output device (100) (S91). On the other hand, if the runtime credential included in the content request signal has not been registered for withdrawal, the content server (200) provides sound content to the audio output device (100) (S92).

[0086] If the runtime credential (RC) included in the content request signal (Rqst) is a revoked registered runtime credential (RC), the content server (200) may determine that the audio output device (100) is an illegal copy. Accordingly, the content server (200) may not provide sound content (Cnt) to the audio output device (100) corresponding to the revoked registered runtime credential (RC).

[0087] On the other hand, if the runtime credential (RC) included in the content request signal (Rqst) is a runtime credential (RC) that has not been registered for withdrawal, the content server (200) may determine that the audio output device (100) is normal. Accordingly, the content server (200) may provide sound content (Cnt) to the audio output device (100) corresponding to the runtime credential (RC) that has not been registered for withdrawal.

[0088]

[0089] Figure 6 is a drawing for exemplarily explaining the runtime credentials of Figure 1.

[0090] Specifically, in Fig. 6 is a diagram for explaining runtime credentials managed by an authentication server (300). Each row may correspond to one audio output device (100).

[0091] Fig. 6 Referring to , the production credentials of the first data (D1) and the second data (D2) may be the same as “10001”. On the other hand, the runtime credentials of the first data (D1) may be “RT0001”, and the runtime credentials of the second data (D2) may be different as “RT0002”. The runtime credentials of the first and second data (D1, D2) may be in an active state in which authentication has not been revoked.

[0092] Meanwhile, the production credentials of the third data (D3) and the fourth data (D4) may be the same as “10002”. The production credentials of the third and fourth data (D3, D4) may be different from the first and second data (D1, D2). Accordingly, the third and fourth data (D3, D4) may be for devices produced in a different production unit (batch) than the first and second data (D1, D2). In addition, the runtime credential of the third data (D3) may be “RT0003” and in an ACTIVE state, while the runtime credential of the fourth data (D4) may be “RT0004” and in a REVOKE state. The REVOKE state may mean that the corresponding runtime credential is revoked.

[0093] Meanwhile, in Fig. 6 is a diagram for explaining the registration runtime credentials managed by the content server (200). Fig. 6 Referring to , the first to fourth registration runtime credentials (RC1_r to RC4_r) may include runtime credentials and status. When receiving information (D_RC) about runtime credentials from the authentication server (300), the content server (200) may add registration runtime credentials based on the information. In addition, when receiving information (D_RV) about revoked runtime credentials from the authentication server (300), the content server (200) may change the status of the registration runtime credentials based on the information.

[0094] Unlike the authentication server (300), the content server (200) may not store production credentials (PC). Accordingly, if a third party transmits a content request signal (Rqst) to the content server (300) using the production credentials (PC), the content server (200) may not provide sound content (Cnt).

[0095]

[0096] Figure 7 is a flowchart illustrating an authentication method performed in an audio provision system according to some embodiments of the present invention. Parts that overlap with the above description are omitted or simplified.

[0097] Referring to FIG. 7, the first audio output device (101) transmits the first production credential to the authentication server (300) (S100). Meanwhile, the second audio output device (102) transmits the first production credential to the authentication server (300) (S200).

[0098] At this time, the first audio output device (101) and the second audio output device (102) may be devices produced in the same production unit. Accordingly, the first and second audio output devices (101, 102) may have the same first production credentials.

[0099] Next, the authentication server (300) authenticates the audio output device and generates a runtime credential (S300).

[0100] The authentication server (300) can authenticate the first audio output device (101) and generate a first runtime credential corresponding to the first audio output device (101). In addition, the authentication server (300) can authenticate the second audio output device (102) and generate a second runtime credential corresponding to the second audio output device (102). At this time, the first runtime credential and the second runtime credential may be different from each other.

[0101] Next, the authentication server (300) provides the first runtime credential to the first audio output device (101) (S400). In addition, the authentication server (300) transmits information about the first runtime credential to the content server (200) (S500). Next, the content server (200) registers the first runtime credential (S550).

[0102] Next, the authentication server (300) provides the second runtime credentials to the second audio output device (102) (S600). In addition, the authentication server (300) transmits information about the second runtime credentials to the content server (200) (S700). Next, the content server (200) registers the second runtime credentials (S750).

[0103] After step S750, authentication and sound content provision for the first and second audio output devices can be performed in the same manner as steps S40 to S50 or steps S60 to S90 described above.

[0104] Although the drawing illustrates that steps S600 to S750 are performed after steps S400 to S550, the present invention is not limited thereto. Steps S600 to S750 may be performed before steps S400 to S550, or may be performed in parallel.

[0105] The audio provision system and authentication method of this embodiment can assign unique runtime credentials to each audio output device. This allows for selective revocation of authentication for only the cloned device, preventing the use of cloned devices if duplicates are produced from the same production unit.

[0106] Additionally, the present invention can generate runtime credentials during the authentication process and use these runtime credentials to determine whether to provide sound content. This prevents content from being provided to unauthorized products, thereby minimizing the use of counterfeit products.

[0107]

[0108] FIG. 8 is a diagram for explaining the hardware configuration of an audio providing system, an audio output device, an authentication server, or a content server according to some embodiments of the present invention.

[0109] Referring to FIG. 8, an audio output device (100), a content server (200), or an authentication server (300) according to some embodiments of the present invention may be implemented as an electronic device (1000).
