AI Technical Summary
Existing bleaching powder compositions suffer from low powder yield due to the addition of paraffin oil, which is added to prevent dust formation but decreases the yield, leading to raw material waste and inefficiencies.
A bleaching powder composition comprising C13-C21 alkanes instead of paraffin oil, with a low water content and inclusion of oxidizing agents, alkalizing agents, and pulverulent excipients, resulting in a higher powder yield and improved mixing properties.
The solution increases powder yield, enhances product homogeneity and gloss, and improves mixing speed, while reducing raw material waste.

Abstract
Description
[0001] BLEACH POWDERS COMPRISING ALKANES
[0002] Field of the invention
[0003] The present invention relates to a bleaching composition for human hair, a bleaching kit-of-parts, a ready-to-use bleaching composition, and bleaching process.
[0004] Background of the invention
[0005] Changing hair color can give a new fresh look, improve the self-image, and / or promote enhancement of the self-esteem of the clients. In most cases to get another hair color, the color must be lifted, especially for going from a brown or dark brown / black to a light shade or if fashion shades are desired. Therefore, bleaching is widely used to prepare for coloring, but as well to get blonder. In both cases different applications are used such as whole head lightening, as well for partial treatments such as streaks for highlights or lifting the tips e.g., for balayage. Often a high lightening is desired. A standard bleaching product comprises two components: a bleaching powder and an oxidizing composition. Both are mixed to get a creamy product, which is applied on the hair.
[0006] The powder component contains persulfates and alkalizers. To prevent dust formation, paraffin oil is added to the powder composition, which binds the small particles so that the powder character is retained. However, during production the addition of paraffin oils decreases the powder yield. Thus, there is a real need to develop bleaching powder compositions with higher powder yields to reduce raw material waste.

[0066] The results clearly show that the inventive compositions 1 and 2 resulted in less loss of product due to the usage of C13-C21 alkanes instead of the commonly used paraffin oil.
[0067] Methods
[0068] To prepare bleaching powder composition A, the solid ingredients were weighed and placed in a ball mill and mixed for 30 minutes. This produced a homogeneous powder. During mixing, the liquid components (oil and fragrance) were weighed and placed in a beaker and mixed by stirring. To avoid lumping or uneven distribution of the oil, the oil was added to the powder drop by drop. The powder was mixed several times to avoid higher concentrations of oil on the surface. After all the oil was added, the mixing was continued in the ball mill for another 10 minutes. The powder was then removed from the ball mill, weighed again and sieved to remove lumps.
[0069] For the application, these bleaching powder compositions A were mixed with a composition B presented above. The mixing ratio of bleaching powder composition A to composition B was 1 :1.4 by weight. In all cases, the pH of the mixtures was 10.4±0.1 .
[0070] The optical parameters were evaluated with the naked human eye by 5 independent experts who were blinded to the type of compositions they were evaluating. The experts were asked to rate the gloss on an integer scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest rating. The arithmetic mean was reported.
