USER EQUIPMENT, BASE STATION, AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHODS FOR SBFD OPERATIONTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of wireless communication systems, and more particularly, to a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for sub-band full duplex (SBFD) operation.BACKGROUND

[0002] In current sub-band full duplex (SBFD) operation, channels and signals are studied. However, there are opening issues on details for a configuration of time / frequency resources of SBFD subbands. For example, the semi-static signaling details for the configuration of SBFD operation, that specify several time domain parameters such as time offset, time period, and periodicity of SBFD operation, as well as frequency domain parameters, such the size of UL and DL subbands. Furthermore, there are other open issues related to SBFD operation, channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) and sounding reference signal (SRS) enhancement in SBFD symbols. Therefore, further studies are needed to address the configuration of time / frequency resources of SBFD operation, including the semi-static signaling details, as well as CSI-RS and SRS enhancement in SBFD symbols / slots.SUMMARY

[0003] An object of the present disclosure is to propose a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for sub-band full duplex (SBFD) operation, which can solve issues in the prior art and other issues.

[0049] The diversified use cases and exponential growth of number of UEs in the next generation wireless communication system have increased the data traffic explosively which leads to the high requirements of spectral efficiency. In order to accomplish the requirements of high spectral efficiency, TDD system is widely adopted in commercial NR deployments. TDD system uses a single spectrum (frequency band) for downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) in different time slots, and utilizes the available spectrum more efficiently as compared to the Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) system.

[0050] In conventional TDD system, the time domain resources are split between the downlink (DL) , uplink (UL) and flexible slots / symbols, where the flexible slots / symbols can be used as DL, UL or as a guard period for DL-UL switching. Allocation of a limited time duration for uplink in conventional TDD would result in reduced coverage, increased latency and reduced capacity. In order to enhance the limitations of conventional TDD operation, 3GPP RAN working group approves a study item in Release 18 (Rel-18) , which focus on the feasibility of simultaneous existence of DL and UL, as known as full duplex, or more specifically, sub-band non-overlapping full duplex operation within a conventional TDD band. In SBFD operation, gNB is operated in full duplex, i.e. the simultaneous DL and UL transmission occurs at gNB side only while the UE operates in half duplex. The study item specifies RAN1 objectives regarding the sub-band non-overlapping full duplex and dynamic / flexible TDD operation.

[0055] Problem 1: Indication of time / frequency location of subbands to the UE

[0056] In Rel-18, it has been agreed that the existing TDD slot format could be used to configure the SBFD operation with one UL subband in DL or flexible symbols / slots. In addition, it has been discussed that semi-static cell common signaling (such as TDD-UL-DL-ConfigCommon) could be used to indicate / configure the time and frequency location of the SBFD operation to the UEs. However, this configuration may face the following issues.

[0203] In summary, some embodiments of the present disclosure propose several enhancements to the indication and configuration of time and frequency resources for the SBFD operation, as well as signaling details and PUCCH enhancements in the SBFD symbols / slots, in order to avoid misalignment issues with the SBFD subbands and other subbands. The proposed solutions are summarized below: 1. Several time domain configuration parameters are introduced to avoid misalignment between the TDD operation period and the SBFD operation period, as given below: Time offset of SBFD operation: symbol level and slot level time offsets are  proposed to specify the location of SBFD operation in a period. Time period of SBFD operation: several time periods are defined to avoid misalignment issues between the TDD period and SBFD operation. Periodicity of SBFD operation: the periodicity of SBFD operation is introduced to reduce signaling overhead and allow for flexibility in SBFD operation. 2. Configurable size of SBFD subbands is proposed to solve issues with overlapping RBG size, CSI-reporting subband, and PRB bundling. 3. New signaling methods and details for the indication of time / frequency resources of the SBFD operation are proposed. 4. Several PUCCH enhancements are proposed, such as CSI-report enhancement in UL subband and SRS transmission in UL subband. Some embodiments of the present disclosure discuss several enhancements of the SBFD operation and have the following advantages: 1. Improved alignment: The proposed time domain configuration parameters can help avoid misalignment between the TDD operation period and the SBFD operation period, which can improve the overall alignment of the system. 2. Reduced signaling overhead: The periodicity of SBFD operation can reduce signaling overhead and allow for flexibility in SBFD operation. 3. Configurable subbands: The configurable size of SBFD subbands can solve issues with overlapping RBG size, CSI-reporting subband, and PRB bundling, which can avoid the overlapping issues. 4. Enhanced signaling methods: The proposed new signaling methods and details for the indication of time / frequency resources of the SBFD operation can improve the overall signaling performance of the system. 5. Improved PUCCH performance: The proposed PUCCH enhancements, such as CSI-report enhancement in UL subband and SRS transmission in UL subband, can improve the overall PUCCH performance of the system.
