AI Technical Summary
Existing knife roller implements with multiple rollers create gaps in soil coverage, necessitating a second turning operation, increasing time and cost.
Incorporation of a smaller crossover knife roller assembly offset in the horizontal plane, working between in-line rollers to fill soil gaps, with a hydraulic actuator for adjustable positioning.
Ensures complete soil coverage in a single pass, reducing operational time and cost by eliminating the need for a secondary turning operation.

Abstract
Description
[0001] IMPROVEMENT IN ROLLER KNIFE IMPLEMENT FIELD OF INVENTION
[0002]
[0001] The present invention patent describes an improvement in a knife roller implement. More specifically, it comprises an implement equipped with a central chassis and side arms that have in-line knife rollers and a crossover knife roller recessed in the horizontal plane in relation to the in-line rollers, positioned so as to work in the intermediate range of the in-line knife rollers.
[0003] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0004]
[0002] Knife roller implements are used to bed down cover crops or the remains of the previous crop, keeping all the straw on the soil. This equipment, widely used in the no-till system, generally has side knife rollers and a central knife roller, offset from the side rollers and with a greater length, in order to reach all the soil that was not previously turned.
[0005]
[0003] However, these implements have been improved to increase their working capacity, with the incorporation of side arms that accommodate more than one knife roller. Increasing the number of knife rollers creates a gap between adjacent rollers where the soil is not turned over, an undesirable condition. Therefore, a second soil turning operation is usually necessary, increasing the time and cost of the operation.
[0006]
[0004] In order to provide an improvement in a knife roller implement equipped with more than one knife roller installed on side arms, a smaller knife roller assembly (so-called overlapping roller) is fixed to the side arm structure and offset in the horizontal plane in relation to the in-line knife rollers, so that the overlapping roller works in the intermediate range of the in-line knife rollers, acting on areas of the soil not turned over by the in-line rollers.
[0007] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES
[0008]
[0005] Figure 1A shows the perspective view of the knife roller implement equipped with a central chassis and side arms with a pair of knife roller assembly and a knife roller assembly offset in relation to the pair; figure 1 B shows the side arms moving in the horizontal plane and figure 1C shows the side arms in the transport position.
[0009]
[0006] Figure 2A shows the perspective view of the overlapping knife roller assembly; figure 2B shows the exploded view of the overlapping knife roller assembly; figure 2C shows the sectional view, showing the attachment of the overlapping knife roller assembly to the main beam of the side arm; figures 2D and 2E show the overlapping roller assembly with actuator and compression spring.
[0010]
[0007] Figure 3 shows four positions (A, B, C and D) of the overlapping knife roller in relation to the actuation of the hydraulic actuator.
[0011] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0012]
[0008] The knife roller implement basically comprises a central chassis (10) supported by a wheel (11) and which has a telescopic drawbar (101) for coupling to the agricultural machine by means of hydraulic coupling, a right side arm (20a) associated with the central chassis (10) by an articulated segment (10a) and a left side arm (20b) associated with the central chassis (10) by an articulated segment (10b). This construction arrangement is detailed in document BR102024003806, from the same owner.
[0013]
[0009] The side arms (20a) and (20b) describe a movement in the horizontal plane between a working position, when they are kept transverse to the movement of the implement, and a transport position when they are kept longitudinal to the movement of the implement.
[0014]
[0010] As shown in figures 1A to 1C, the side arms (20a) and (20b) have a main beam (201) equipped with an axle (not shown) for coupling a stabilizing wheel (203) positioned on the outer side of each side arm (20a) and (20b). Knife roller assemblies (30) are coupled in line to this main beam (201), using the constructive method described in document BR1 02024003273. Additionally, a second beam (201a) is provided associated with the main beam (201) by fixed arms (204), said second beam (201a) being higher than the main beam (201).
[0015]
[0011] Between a pair of knife roller assemblies (30) arranged in a line, a crossover knife roller assembly (31) is fixed, which is smaller in size than the knife roller assemblies (30). The crossover knife roller assembly (31) is fixed to the main beam (201) of the side arms. The reduction in the size of the crossover knife roller (31) positions said crossover knife roller (31) further back in relation to the pair of knife roller assemblies (30) arranged in a line.
[0016]
[0012] The crossover knife roller assembly (31) comprises a support structure in the form of a pair of arms (311) with an end provided with a bearing (312) for coupling the knife roller (313) and a free end of the arms (311) provided with a bushing (311a) and a connector with a bushing (314).
[0017]
[0013] Tabs (202) that surround the upper face of said beam (201) are welded to the main beam (201), said tabs (202) having an eyelet (2021) for connecting the connector with a bushing (314) of the arms (311) of the support structure of the overlapping knife roller assembly (31).
[0014] A connecting arm (50) is fixed to the bushing (311a) arranged at the end of the arms (311) by means of a pin (P2). This connecting arm (50) has at the free end a bushing (51) in which a pin (P3) promotes the connection of a second connecting arm (60). The second connecting arm (60) has at the opposite end an eyelet (61) that is connected by a pin (P4) to the tab's eyelet (202). In this configuration, the connecting arm (60) is associated with the beam (201) in alignment with the arm (311) of the support assembly of the knife roll assembly (31).
[0018]
[0015] The connecting arms (60) are associated by a segment (63) in whose middle portion a hydraulic actuator (A1) is fixed, with the opposite end fixed to a connecting element (R1). A compression spring (70) is coupled to the free end of the connecting element (R1) which allows the working pressure to be adjusted.
[0019]
[0016] The actuator (A1) transmits movement to the knife roll assembly. For this operation, the actuator (A1) moves the segment (63) that associates the connecting arms (60). Jointly, the first connecting arm (50) is actuated, which moves the pair of arms (311) in the vertical plane and, jointly, the knife roll (313).
[0020]
[0017] As shown in figure 3, in position “A” the overlapping roller (313) is shown in the working position, with the hydraulic actuator (A1) extended, passing through a depression in the ground; in position “B” the knife roller (313) is shown in the working position, with the hydraulic actuator (A1) extended and working on uniform ground; in position “C” the overlapping roller is shown in the working position, with the hydraulic actuator (A1) extended and operating in an area of raised ground and position “D” shows the knife roller (313) in the transport position, with the hydraulic actuator (A1) retracted.
