[0003] The presently claimed invention relates to a hair oil comprising as components (A) at least one dimethicone of the formula (I), (B) at least one dimethicone of the formula (II), and (C) at least one dimethiconol. Another aspect of the presently claimed invention relates to a process for the cosmetic treatment of keratin fibers, preferably human hair, comprising the step of applying the hair oil to the keratin fibers, preferably to the human hair. Yet another aspect of the presently claimed invention is the use of the hair oil for conditioning keratin fibers, preferably for conditioning the human hair.

[0004] Background of the invention

[0005] Keratin fibers, like human hair, are generally damaged and weakened by the action of external agents. Such agents may be atmospheric agents like sunlight, bad weather, and mechanical or chemical treatments, like brushing, dyeing, combing, bleaching, permanent-waving and / or straightening the keratin fibers, like human hair. Also repeated washing of the keratin fibers, like human hair, may damaged and weaken the fibers.

[0006] Human hair is thus damaged by the above-mentioned various factors. The human hair may, overtime, become dry, coarse, brittle, or dull, especially in fragile areas, like the ends of the hair and the hair tips. To overcome these drawbacks, it is common practice to resort to haircare products. Such haircare products are intended to condition the hair, given it satisfactory cosmetic properties, like smoothness, shine, softness, lightness, suppleness, a natural feel, and good combing and disentangling properties.

[0007] Haircare compositions are normally applied regularly to the hair. Such haircare compositions may be hair conditioners, masks, gels, hair lotions or care creams which are more or less thick. Moreover, it is known practice to use haircare compositions in the form of hair oils, containing silicone oils. A drawback of these compositions is the fact, that such compositions often result in excessive greasing which results in the human hair having a greasy feel and a charged visual appearance. FR 2 854 798 A1 discloses an aerosol spray comprising 85 % by weight of isobutane, having a boiling point of -11.4 °C, and silicones like cyclopentasiloxane.

[0008] WO 2020 / 201410 A1 discloses a haircare composition comprising one or more branched alkanes having from 8 to 16 carbon atoms, one or more dimethiconol(s) and two different polydimethylsiloxanes, having different viscosities. The first polydimethylsiloxane has a viscosity below 200 cSt, the second polydimethylsiloxane has a viscosity in the range of 10 000 to 1 000 000 cSt.

[0009] The haircare composition disclosed in WO 2020 / 201410 A1 , however, comprises the one or more branched alkanes having from 8 to 16 carbon atoms as a major component.

[0010] There is a need for providing a hair oil that has a reduced content of branched alkanes having from 8 to 16 carbon atoms, preferably a reduced content of mineral oil-based components. It is an object of the presently claimed invention to provide a hair oil having a reduced content of branched alkanes having from 8 to 16 carbon atoms, which does not have the drawbacks mentioned above, and which is capable of conditioning keratin fibers, like human hair in a long- lasting manner, and giving the keratin fibers, like human hair, good cosmetic properties.

[0011] This object has been solved by a hair oil comprising as components

[0012] (A) at least one dimethicone of the formula (I) (CH3)3SiO[Si(CH3)2O]n1Si(CH3)3, wherein n1 is an integer in the range of 0 to 18,

[0013] (B) at least one dimethicone of the formula (II) (CH3)3SiO[Si(CH3)2O]n2Si(CH3)3, wherein n2 is an integer in the range from 1 to 19, and

[0014] (C) at least one dimethiconol, wherein n1 is smaller than n2, and wherein the hair oil contains, based on the total weight of the hair oil, less than 20 % by weight of branched alkanes having 8 to 16 carbon atoms, and wherein the hair oil contains, based on the total weight of the hair oil, less than 1 % by weight of silicones, other than component (C), having a viscosity higher than 0.01 m2 / s, and wherein the hair oil comprises

It makes it possible to improve dry combability, curl definition, curl uniformity, frizz, elasticity, dry feel, coating evenness and hair shine. It, moreover, makes it possible to nourish and repair damaged hair.

[0020] The viscosity of the components (A), (B) and (C), which is the kinematic viscosity, is measured at 25°C and at atmospheric pressure (1 atm, 1.013x105Pa) according to ASTM 445 Appendix C.

[0101] The ability of the foregoing hair oil examples to condition the hair is examined by a half head comparison. The hair of panelists is parted in the middle into two sections from brow to neck. One of the sections is treated with the hair oil according to the present invention (Example), the other section is treated with the comparative hair oils (Comparative examples; examples A, C, E of WO 2020 / 201410 A1). This examination is termed half-head comparison because the test and reference samples are applied to one half of the head respectively, thus enabling a direct comparison under identical test conditions (identical hair structure, degree of damage, hair color etc.). The application amount of the hair oil examples 1 and the comparative hair oils (comparative examples 1 , 2, and 3) was 0.4 to 1g, depending on the hair length and hair amount of the panelists.

The amount of resistance / effort needed during combing is the basis for evaluating the product as easier to comb / more difficult to comb. This test is carried out on dry hair. The evaluation is conducted manually and is compared to the combability of the hair with reference hair oil.

[0112] Hair Frizz is evaluated optically - on straight hair styles via assessing if short strands sticking up at the part and throughout the hair length that "project away from the main body of hair", and on curly hair via assessing how much strands of wavy or curly hair do not align with others to form a defined wave or curl. The less hair sticking up on straight hair and the more defined / less unruly curls or waves are observed, the less frizzy the hair is.

If the hair runs easily through the fingers, this is referred to as a smooth feel; if the hair is impeded from running easily through the fingers, this is referred to as a coarse feel.

[0131] The results of the half head examination indicate clearly that the inventive hair oil leads to better hair conditioning performance (frizz, shine, curl definition, curl uniformity and lasting curl definition) at basically equal / comparable dry heaviness versus comparative examples 1 , 2, and 3. Without being bound to a theory the inventors of the present invention assume that this surprising and advantageous effect is connected with the significant reduction of isododecane and silicones having a viscosity higher than 10 000 cSt (0.01 m2 / s).

Claims

Claims1. Hair oil comprising as components(A) at least one dimethicone of the formula (I) (CH3)3SiO[Si(CH3)2O]n1Si(CH3)3wherein n1 is an integer in the range of 0 to 18,(B) at least one dimethicone of the formula (II) (CH3)3SiO[Si(CH3)2O]n2Si(CH3)3wherein n2 is an integer in the range from 1 to 19, and(C) at least one dimethiconol, wherein n1 is smaller than n2, and wherein the hair oil contains, based on the total weight of the hair oil, less than 20 % by weight of branched alkanes having 8 to 16 carbon atoms, and wherein the hair oil contains, based on the total weight of the hair oil, less than 1 % by weight of silicones, other than component (C), having a viscosity higher than 0.01 m2 / s, and wherein the hair oil comprises5 to 50 % by weight of component (A),30 to 90 % by weight of component (B), and2 to 20 % by weight of component (C), based on the total weight of the hair oil.

2. Hair oil according to claim 1 , wherein n1 is an integer in the range of 1 to 15, and n2 is an integer in the range of 2 to 16.

3. Hair oil according to claim 1 or 2, wherein component (C) has a weight average molecular weight in the range of 400 000 to 1 300 000 g / mol.

4. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the hair oil contains, based on the total weight of the hair oil, less than 10 %by weight, and more preferred less than 5 %by weight of branched alkanes having 8 to 16 carbon atoms.

5. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 4, wherein the hair oil is essentially free of decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, and preferably is essentially free of cyclopentasiloxane(s), and even more preferably is essentially free of cyclomethicone.

6. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 5, wherein the hair oil is essentially free of water.

7. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 6, wherein the hair oil comprises as component (D) at least one alcohol.

8. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 7, wherein the hair oil comprises as component (E) at least one natural oil.

9. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 8, wherein component (A) has a viscosity in the range of 1 .0 to 5 x 10’6m2 / s .

10. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 9, wherein component (B) has a viscosity in the range of 1 .5 to 10 x 10’6m2 / s.

11. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 10, wherein component (B) has a higher viscosity than component (A).

12. Hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 11 , wherein component (D) is at least one alcohol selected from the group consisting of ethanol, n-propanol and isopropanol.

13. Process for the cosmetic treatment of keratin fibers, preferably human hair, comprising the step of applying the hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 12 to the keratin fibers, preferably to the human hair.

14. Use of the hair oil according to any of claims 1 to 12 for conditioning keratin fibers, preferably for conditioning the human hair.
