Description

Coaxial connector with switch and coaxial connector set including said coaxial connector with switch

[0001] The present invention relates to a coaxial connector with a switch and a coaxial connector set including the coaxial connector with a switch.

[0002] For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a coaxial connector with a switch, which includes a movable terminal, a fixed terminal, a holding member, and an external terminal, and in which a protrusion is formed in the center of the bottom surface of the holding member.

[0003] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2002-42991

[0004] The holding member disclosed in Patent Document 1 has a ring-shaped recess formed around the protrusion. As coaxial connectors with switches become smaller and thinner, it becomes more difficult to form holding members with minute and complex shapes. A flat bottom surface extends around the outer periphery of the recess, and mounting portions for the movable terminal, fixed terminal, and external terminal are provided on the flat bottom surface. The coaxial connector with switches is mounted to a circuit board via these mounting portions. However, flux contained in the solder used during mounting accumulates between the circuit board and the flat bottom surface, reducing the positioning accuracy of the coaxial connector with switches.

[0005] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a coaxial connector with a switch, which facilitates miniaturization and low profile, and which improves positioning accuracy during mounting, and a coaxial connector set including the coaxial connector with a switch.

[0006] In order to solve the above problems, a coaxial connector with a switch according to one embodiment of the present invention is a coaxial connector with a switch comprising: a conductive movable terminal and a fixed terminal; an electrically insulating holding member; and an external terminal covering the holding member and being conductive; wherein the external terminal has a pair of external mounting portions on the bottom side, and each of the pair of external mounting portions has a holding surface that holds the holding member by extending along the bottom surface so as to overlap the holding member in a bottom view, and the holding member has, on the bottom side, a covering portion that is covered by the holding surface, an exposed portion that extends continuously from the covering portion and is exposed, and a protruding portion that protrudes in the height direction of the holding member relative to the exposed portion.

[0007] According to this invention, the continuous extension of the covered portion and exposed portion simplifies the structure of the bottom side of the holding member, facilitating miniaturization and low profile. Furthermore, the exposed portion located between the external mounting portion and the protruding portion allows flux contained in the solder used during mounting to remain in the exposed portion, improving positioning accuracy during mounting.

[0009] DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Hereinafter, an embodiment of a coaxial connector with a switch 2 and a coaxial connector set 1 including the coaxial connector with a switch 2 according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.

[0010] [Coaxial Connector with Switch] A coaxial connector with switch 2 according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.

[0011] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the coaxial connector with switch 2 comprises a movable terminal 10 and a fixed terminal 40 which are conductive, a holding member 50 which is electrically insulating, and an external terminal 60 which covers the holding member 50 and is conductive.

[0012] The movable terminal 10 and the fixed terminal 40 are formed by bending a thin conductive metal plate, and may be made of, for example, stainless steel (SUS: Steel Use Stainless Steel). Stainless steel is a conductive and elastically deformable material. The surfaces of the movable terminal 10 and the fixed terminal 40 may be gold-plated, for example.

[0013] 6 and 7 , the movable terminal 10 has a movable base 11 held by a holding member 50, an elastic deformation portion 12 connected to the movable base 11, a connecting portion 15 connected to the elastic deformation portion 12, and a movable contact portion 17 connected to the connecting portion 15. The movable terminal 10 further has a movable mounting portion 29 on the bottom surface side of the holding member 50 for mounting on a land electrode of a circuit board (not shown). As shown in FIGS. 1 , 2 , 3 and 5 , the movable terminal 10 further has a movable connecting portion 28 connected to the movable mounting portion 29.

[0014] As shown in Figure 4, the movable contact portion 17 of the movable terminal 10 is configured to be elastically displaceable in the height direction (Z-axis direction) to make contact with and separate from the fixed terminal 40. The elastic deformation portion 12 is configured to be elastically deformable in the longitudinal direction. The movable contact portion 17 has a mountain-like shape and includes a contact protrusion 19 and one-side inclined portions and another-side inclined portions connected to the contact protrusion 19. The contact protrusion 19 protrudes most in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the holding member 50 (movable contact portion 17). The contact protrusion 19 functions as a pressed portion that is pressed by the lower end of the center conductor 5 of the mating coaxial connector 3 and deforms toward the second base portion 56 of the second holding portion 55.

[0015] 6 and 7, the fixed terminal 40 has a fixed base 42 held by a holding member 50, and a pair of fixed contact portions 45, 45 connected to the fixed base 42. Each of the pair of fixed contact portions 45, 45 abuts against one inclined portion and the other inclined portion of the movable contact portion 17 that protrudes in a mountain shape.

[0016] As will be described later, when the movable contact portion 17 moves away from the fixed contact portion 45 due to the mating of the mating coaxial connector 3 (as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11 ), the movable contact portion 17 elastically stretches in the longitudinal direction while the end portion positioned outside the movable contact portion 17 abuts against the holding member 50. Also, the elastic deformation portion 12 elastically stretches in the longitudinal direction while the end portion positioned outside the elastic deformation portion 12 abuts against the holding member 50.

[0017] 3, the fixed terminal 40 further has a fixed mounting portion 49 on the bottom surface side of the holding member 50 for mounting on a land electrode of a circuit board (not shown). The fixed terminal 40 further has a fixed connection portion 48 continuing to the fixed mounting portion 49. The movable mounting portion 29 of the movable terminal 10 and the fixed mounting portion 49 of the fixed terminal 40 are located diagonally opposite each other.

[0018] The end of the movable mounting portion 29 of the movable terminal 10 and the end of the fixed mounting portion 49 of the fixed terminal 40 are located outside the holding member 50 in a bottom view so as not to overlap with the holding member 50. This positions the movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 apart from each other, improving isolation performance.

[0019] As shown in FIGS. 5 to 7, the external terminal 60 is configured to cover the surface of the holding member 50 and has a rectangular shape when viewed from above.

[0020] The external terminal 60 is made of a thin metal plate and, when connected to a ground potential, shields against external electromagnetic waves and unwanted radiation from the movable terminal 10 and the fixed terminal 40, thereby making the space surrounded by the external terminal 60 an electromagnetic wave-shielding space. In other words, the external terminal 60 is a member for electromagnetically shielding the movable terminal 10 and the fixed terminal 40. The external terminal 60 can be made of, for example, a stainless steel material. The stainless steel material is conductive and elastically deformable. The external terminal 60 can be formed, for example, by bending.

[0021] The external terminal 60 has, for example, an external base portion 61, a pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, and a cylindrical portion 66. The external terminal 60 and the holding member 50 are configured to be fixed together by sandwiching the holding member 50 between the external base portion 61 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62.

[0022] The external base portion 61 extends from the upper surface to the side surface of the holding member 50 and has an L-shape in side view. The tubular portion 66 has a cylindrical shape that is concentric with the inclined guide portion 53 and extends in the height direction (Z-axis direction), and is configured to be connectable to the outer conductor 7 of the mating coaxial connector 3.

[0023] 3, the pair of external mounting parts 62, 62 are located on the bottom side of the holding member 50 and extend along the bottom surface of the holding member 50 so as to overlap the holding member 50 in a bottom view. By crimping the pair of external mounting parts 62, 62 with the holding member 50 sandwiched between them, the external base part 61 and the pair of external mounting parts 62, 62 are configured to sandwich and hold the holding member 50.

[0024] 8 and 9 , each of the pair of external mounting portions 62 has a holding surface 62 a and a mounting surface 62 b. The holding surface 62 a is an upper surface that extends along the bottom surface so as to overlap the holding member 50 in a bottom view, thereby holding the holding member 50, and the mounting surface 62 b is a lower surface for mounting to a ground electrode of a circuit board (not shown).

[0025] As shown in FIG. 6, the external terminal 60 further has mounting cutouts 63 cut out to accommodate the movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 in a non-contact manner.

[0026] 3, the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 have an L-shape when viewed from the bottom, which increases the mounting area of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, thereby improving the bonding strength.

[0027] 3 , each of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 having an L-shape in bottom view has a wide portion 62f that extends widely in bottom view and a narrow portion 62g that extends narrowly in bottom view and in a direction intersecting the wide portion 62f. In side view, the wide portion 62f of one of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 faces the width direction of the movable connecting portion 28, while the narrow portion 62g of the other of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 faces the thickness direction of the movable connecting portion 28, and the narrow portion 62g of one of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 faces the thickness direction of the fixed connecting portion 48, while the wide portion 62f of the other of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 faces the width direction of the fixed connecting portion 48. This allows for shielding of unwanted radiation from the movable connecting portion 28 and the fixed connecting portion 48.

[0028] 5 to 7 , the holding member 50 has a rectangular shape extending in the length direction (X-axis direction) and width direction (Y-axis direction) in a top view, with diagonal corners cut out. The holding member 50 is made of an electrically insulating resin such as a liquid crystal polymer. The holding member 50 has a first holding portion 51 and a second holding portion 55. The movable terminal 10 and the fixed terminal 40 are sandwiched and held between the first holding portion 51 and the second holding portion 55 in the height direction (Z-axis direction).

[0029] The first holding portion 51 has a first base portion 52 and an inclined guide portion 53 formed on the first base portion 52. The inclined guide portion 53 has a through hole 54 formed therein for inserting the center conductor 5 (shown in FIGS. 10 and 11 ) of the mating coaxial connector 3 therethrough.

[0030] The second holding portion 55 has a second base portion 56, and a first boss 57 and a second boss 58 that are erected in the height direction (Z-axis direction) from the second base portion 56. The first boss 57 is used to position the movable terminal 10, and the second boss 58 is used to position the fixed terminal 40.

[0031] As shown in FIG. 7 , the bottom side of the holding member 50, i.e., the backside of the second holding portion 55, has a protruding portion 71, a covering portion 73, and an exposed portion 75. The covering portion 73 is a portion covered by the holding surface 62a of the external mounting portion 62. The exposed portion 75 extends continuously from the covering portion 73 and is an exposed portion not covered by the external mounting portion 62. The protruding portion 71 protrudes in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the holding member 50 relative to the exposed portion 75. The continuous extension of the covering portion 73 and the exposed portion 75 simplifies the structure of the bottom side of the holding member 50, facilitating miniaturization and a low profile. Furthermore, the exposed portion 75, located between the external mounting portion 62 and the protruding portion 71, allows flux contained in the solder used during mounting to accumulate, thereby improving positioning accuracy during mounting.

[0032] 5, the protrusion 71 is located at the center of the rear surface of the second holding portion 55. This allows the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 to be arranged in a well-balanced manner on the bottom surface side of the holding member 50.

[0033] The protrusion 71 has a rectangular shape formed by four intersecting sides when viewed from the bottom. This allows the pair of external mounting parts 62, 62 to be disposed based on each side of the rectangular protrusion 71, stabilizing the positions of the pair of external mounting parts 62, 62. Each corner where the sides intersect is rounded.

[0034] The side surfaces of the rectangular protrusion 71 and the inner surfaces of the pair of external mounting portions 62 extend parallel to each other. This allows the pair of external mounting portions 62 to be as close as possible to the side surfaces of the rectangular protrusion 71, thereby increasing the mounting area of the pair of external mounting portions 62 and improving the bonding strength.

[0035] The protruding portion 71 has, at its center, a gate mark 77. The gate mark 77 is a molding mark that is generated when the second holding portion 55 of the holding member 50 is made by injection molding of a resin material.

[0036] As shown in Fig. 4, the protrusion 71 is provided at a position corresponding to the contact protrusion 19 of the movable terminal 10. Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 10, the protrusion 71 is located on the opposite side of the movable contact portion 17 of the movable terminal 10 from the center conductor 5 of the mating coaxial connector 3. This allows the protrusion 71 to receive the pressing force when the contact protrusion 19 is pressed by the center conductor 5 of the mating coaxial connector 3, thereby suppressing deflection of the holding member 50.

[0037] 4, 8, and 9, the covered portion 73 and the exposed portion 75 are configured to extend flat and be flush with each other. This further simplifies the structure of the bottom side of the holding member 50, making it easier to reduce its size and height. In addition, the exposed portion 75 allows the flux contained in the solder used during mounting to remain, improving positioning accuracy during mounting.

[0038] 3, the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are positioned in the following order in the circumferential direction around the protrusion 71 in a bottom view: movable mounting portion 29, one of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the other of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62. This improves the balance of the coaxial connector with a switch 2 during mounting, thereby improving positioning accuracy during mounting.

[0039] The movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 are positioned point-symmetrically with respect to the protruding portion 71, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are positioned point-symmetrically with respect to the protruding portion 71. This further improves the balance of the coaxial connector with switch 2 during mounting, thereby further improving the positioning accuracy during mounting.

[0040] 4 and 8, in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the holding member 50, the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are configured to be higher than the height of the protruding portion 71. This allows the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 to protrude beyond the protruding portion 71, thereby improving the reliability of mounting.

[0041] 3, gaps 79 are provided between the movable mounting portion 29 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, and between the fixed mounting portion 49 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, respectively, and are configured so that the protrusions 71 are visible through the gaps 79. This makes it easy to check the state of the protrusions 71.

[0042] [Coaxial Connector Set] A coaxial connector set 1 according to an embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. 10 and 11. FIG.

[0043] Fig. 10 is a cross-sectional view showing the coaxial connector set 1 according to the embodiment in an installed state. Fig. 11 is a cross-sectional perspective view of the coaxial connector set 1 in the installed state shown in Fig. 10.

[0044] As shown in Figures 10 and 11, the coaxial connector set 1 comprises a female coaxial connector 2 with a switch and a male counterpart coaxial connector 3 configured to be connectable to the female coaxial connector 2 with a switch in the height direction (Z-axis direction).

[0045] [Mating coaxial connector]

[0046] As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, the mating coaxial connector 3 has a central conductor 5, a bushing member 6, and an outer conductor 7.

[0047] The central conductor 5 is a conductive member extending vertically within the outer conductor 7 and is electrically connected to the central conductor of a coaxial cable (not shown). The central conductor 5 is configured to be resiliently movable by an elastic member (not shown). The outer conductor 7 is a conductive member having a cylindrical shape and is electrically connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable (not shown). The bushing member 6 is an insulating member that electrically insulates the central conductor 5 from the outer conductor 7.

[0048] [Unattached State of Coaxial Connector Set] The coaxial connector with switch 2 is provided, for example, between the antenna and transmitting / receiving circuit of a mobile phone. As shown in Figures 8 and 9, when the mating coaxial connector 3 is not attached to the coaxial connector with switch 2, the movable contact portion 17 of the movable terminal 10 and the fixed contact portion 45 of the fixed terminal 40 come into contact with each other, electrically connecting the movable terminal 10 and the fixed terminal 40. This electrically connects, for example, the antenna and the transmitting / receiving circuit.

[0049] 10 and 11 , when the mating coaxial connector 3 is attached to the coaxial connector with a switch 2, the center conductor 5, which is connected to a measuring instrument (not shown) via a coaxial cable (not shown), is inserted from above into the through hole 54 of the holding member 50. The movable contact portion 17 of the movable terminal 10 is then elastically pressed by the center conductor 5. As described above, the protrusion 71 of the holding member 50 is located on the opposite side of the center conductor 5. This allows the pressing force of the center conductor 5 to be received by the protrusion 71, thereby suppressing deflection of the holding member 50.

[0050] When the movable contact portion 17 of the movable terminal 10 is elastically pressed by the center conductor 5, the movable contact portion 17 of the movable terminal 10 separates from the fixed contact portion 45 of the fixed terminal 40, and the center conductor 5 and the movable terminal 10 are electrically connected. This electrically connects, for example, a transmitting / receiving circuit and a measuring instrument. Therefore, by switching between the attachment and detachment of the mating coaxial connector 3 to the coaxial connector with switch 2, the electrical connection path can be easily switched.

[0051] [Modification of Coaxial Connector with Switch] A coaxial connector with switch 2 according to a modification will be described with reference to Fig. 12. Fig. 12 is a bottom view that schematically illustrates the coaxial connector with switch 2 according to the modification.

[0052] 12 , in the coaxial connector with switch 2, the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are disposed in the center of the sides of the rectangular holding member 50 when viewed from the bottom. The movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 also have rectangular shapes extending along the length direction (X-axis direction) and width direction (Y-axis direction) of the holding member 50. The movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 are configured not to extend beyond the sides of the holding member 50.

[0053] The protrusion 71 is located at the center of the rectangular holding member 50 and has a rectangular shape. The pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are longer than the protrusion 71 in a side view so as to cover the protrusion 71. The protrusion 71 protrudes in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the holding member 50 relative to the covering portion 73. The height of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 is configured to be greater than the height of the protrusion 71. The inner surfaces of the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 extend parallel to the side surfaces of the protrusion 71.

[0054] For example, the movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 may be located symmetrically (line symmetrically or point symmetrically) with respect to the protruding portion 71, and the pair of external mounting portions 62 may also be located symmetrically (line symmetrically or point symmetrically) with respect to the protruding portion 71. The holding surfaces 62a of the pair of external mounting portions 62 abut against the flat covering portion 73 of the second holding portion 55.

[0055] The movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are spaced apart from the protruding portion 71 in a bottom view. The back surface of the second holding portion 55 has a covering portion 73 covered by the holding surface 62a, an exposed portion 75 extending continuously from the covering portion 73 and being exposed, and the protruding portion 71 protruding in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the holding member 50 relative to the exposed portion 75. The covering portion 73 and the exposed portion 75 are configured to extend flat and be flush with each other.

[0056] A gap 79 is provided between the movable mounting portion 29 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, and between the fixed mounting portion 49 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, and is configured so that the protrusion 71 can be seen through the gap 79.

[0057] [Coaxial Connector with Switch According to Another Embodiment] A coaxial connector with switch 2 according to another embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.

[0058] 13 to 16 , in this embodiment, the movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 are located at the center of the length direction (X-axis direction) of the holding member 50. In other words, in this embodiment, the movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 are located at approximately the center of the length direction (X-axis direction) of the holding member 50. The movable base 11 has an L-shaped bent shape in top view so as to connect the movable connecting portion 28 and the elastic deformation portion 12. In addition, the connection notch 59 is located at the center of the length direction (X-axis direction) of the second holding portion 55. In other words, the connection notch 59 is located at approximately the center of the length direction (X-axis direction) of the second holding portion 55.

[0059] The protrusion 71 has a rectangular shape in bottom view with its long sides extending in the width direction (Y-axis direction) and its short sides extending in the length direction (X-axis direction). The protrusion 71 is provided at the center of the second holding part 55 in the length direction (X-axis direction) and over the entire length in the width direction (Y-axis direction). As a result, the back surface of the second holding part 55 is divided into two regions in the length direction (X-axis direction) by the protrusion 71.

[0060] The movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 have rectangular shapes extending along the length direction (X-axis direction) and width direction (Y-axis direction) of the holding member 50. The movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 extend parallel to the side surfaces on the short sides of the protrusion 71. Furthermore, the inner surfaces of the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 extend parallel to the side surfaces on the long sides of the protrusion 71.

[0061] The movable mounting portion 29 and the fixed mounting portion 49 may be located symmetrically (line symmetrically, point symmetrically) with respect to the protrusion 71 in top view, and in this embodiment, are point symmetrical with respect to the protrusion 71 in between. The pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 may be located symmetrically (line symmetrically, point symmetrically) with respect to the protrusion 71 in top view, and in this embodiment, are point symmetrical with respect to the protrusion 71 in between.

[0062] In a bottom view, the movable mounting portion 29, the fixed mounting portion 49, and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62 are spaced apart from the protruding portion 71. On the back surface of the second holding portion 55, there are arranged a covering portion 73 covered by the external mounting portion 62, an exposed portion 75 extending continuously from the covering portion 73 and exposed to the outside, and the protruding portion 71 protruding in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the holding member 50 relative to the exposed portion 75. The covering portion 73 and the exposed portion 75 are configured to extend flat and be flush with each other.

[0063] A gap 79 is provided between the movable mounting portion 29 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, and between the fixed mounting portion 49 and the pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, and is configured so that the protrusion 71 can be seen through the gap 79.

[0064] Although specific embodiments of the present invention have been described, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the present invention.

[0065] As described above, the exposed portion 75 extends flatly, for example, connected to the flat covering portion 73, but it may also have a structure that locally has tiny protrusions or recesses that are small enough not to interfere with the flow of flux contained in the solder used during mounting.

[0066] In the description that the height of a pair of external mounting portions 62, 62, etc. is higher than the height of the protrusion 71, the term "height of the protrusion 71" means the height including the gate mark 77, i.e., the height of the protrusion 71 plus the height of the gate mark 77.

[0067] The movable contact portion 17 may have a trapezoidal shape. The trapezoidal movable contact portion 17 may have gently sloping one-side inclined portion 17 a and the other-side inclined portion 17 b, and a contact protrusion (pressed portion) 19 that protrudes highest in the height direction (Z-axis direction) of the movable contact portion 17 and extends flat.
