Abstract

Provided are a method, apparatus, and system for providing DW services to users and UE. A first apparatus such as CMF may send the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtain the acknowledgment from the UE, thus the UE and user may be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and may select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network may easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE may select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, UEs may participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

Description

METHOD, APPARATUS, AND SYSTEM FOR PROVIDING A DIGITAL WORD SERVICE TO A USER EQUIPMENTTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to the field of wireless communications technologies and, in particular, to method, apparatus, and system for providing digital word (DW) services to users and user equipment (UE) .BACKGROUND

[0002] A digital world (DW) application may create a world of digital objects, which are digital images of physical objects. The DW application may continuously collect user data, user equipment data, network data, infrastructure data, and environment data. From the collected data, the DW application may reconstruct the digital objects from physical objects, extract normal behaviors of physical objects, predict future behaviors, detect abnormal behaviors. The DW application could use other sources of information related to physical and digital objects to support the operation of physical objects.

[0003] For example, the DW has been proposed to support operation of mobile network. A DW application server (AS) may collect data from network entities (NE) s. The NE entities may include all possible entities that are components of the network, or any entities that may use the network, or any entities that may provide data to the network, such as, but not limited to network user, user equipment of electronic devices to access the network (e.g. UE integrated in smart phones, tablets, autonomous vehicles, home appliances) , network functions (NF) (e.g. fifth generation (5G) NFs such as 5G access and mobility management function (AMF) , 5G session management function (SMF) , 5G radio access network (RAN) ) , network equipment (e.g. router, optical cable transmission equipment) , application server (AS) (e.g. hospital management AS, smart factory management AS, metaverse AS) , and run an emulation software to simulate a digital version for each NE. The emulation software may analyze the network performance. The DW AS may predict possible events such as network congestion at a certain network node. The DW AS may inform some NEs about predicted events so that the NEs may perform some actions to improve the NE  operation and network operation performance.

[0004] This background information is provided to reveal information believed by the applicant to be of possible relevance to the present disclosure. No admission is necessarily intended, nor should be construed, that any of the preceding information constitutes prior art against the present disclosure.SUMMARY

[0005] In a first aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a digital word (DW) service to a user equipment (UE) , including:

[0006] sending one or more UE DW service policies to the UE via an access network (AN) , where the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services; and

[0007] obtaining an acknowledgment to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies, where the acknowledgment is from the UE.

[0008] This solution may be performed by a connection management function (CMF) in the network, for example in a mobile network. By sending one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtaining an acknowledgment from the UE, the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE may select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. The UE may be used by an electronic device (ED) , such as a smart phone and an autonomous vehicle, to connect with the network. A functional unit of ED that provides a sensor or an actuator service may be represented by an ED identifier (ID) . Either the ED or the network may assign the ED ID. The UE may be represented by a UE ID. The network may know the UE capability and have the UE subscription data. An ED may have one or more sensor and actuator functional units. For example, a mobile phone may have multiple sensors, such as camera sensor, gyroscope sensor, GPS sensor to estimate UE location. An ED may connect to one or more network, for example by using one or more subscriber identity module (SIM) card or electronic SIM. Each network may assign a unique UE ID for the ED.In this way, the UEs may participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0009] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0010] sending a UE policy request to a policy function (PF) to request the one or more UE DW service policies;

[0011] and

[0012] obtaining a UE policy response from the PF to obtain the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0013] Because the CMF may send the UE policy request to the PF to obtain the one or more UE DW service policies from the PF, the CMF may obtain the policies in a more flexible way even though the PF does not send the policies to the UE actively.

[0014] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE policy request includes one or more of a UE DW service policy request, a UE identifier (ID) , a UE location, and a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access, where the UE DW service policy request is used to request the one or more UE DW service policies. The UE ID may represent a functional unit of ED that provides control and data connections with the AN. The network may have UE subscription data of the UE.

[0015] By defining the parameters included in the UE policy request in detail, the PF may clearly and easily know the information of the UE that may be required for creating the one or more UE DW service policies for the UE.

[0016] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0017] obtaining a UE network registration request from the UE via the AN to register the UE with the network; and

[0018] sending a UE network registration response to the UE via the AN to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful.

[0019] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE network registration request includes one or more of a UE ID and an indication to register with the network.

[0020] The CMF may obtain the UE network registration request from the UE so as to register the UE with the network, whereby the UE may use the service of the network while the network can discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service.

[0021] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE network registration response includes an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful.

[0022] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE network registration response includes a cause indicating a reason the registration with the network is unsuccessful.

[0023] The UE network registration response itself may be an indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. Alternatively, the UE network registration response may include an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . Moreover, because the UE network registration response may include a  cause indicating the unsuccessful reason of network registration, the UE may clearly know the reason why the UE network registration request is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to register with the network again or obtain authorization which may be required for network registration.

[0024] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE network registration response includes the one or more UE DW service policies, and the UE policy response includes the UE ID and the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0025] Because the UE policy response may include the one or more UE DW service policies, after obtaining the UE policy response, the CMF may forward the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE by using the UE network registration response, and then the UE may be aware of UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration.

[0026] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE policy response includes the UE ID, and the method further includes:

[0027] obtaining a UE policy notification from the PF, where the UE policy notification includes the one or more UE DW service policies;

[0028] sending the UE policy notification to the UE.

[0029] Because the CMF may obtain a UE policy notification from the PF, the CMF may send the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE, so that the UE can obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0030] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the one or more UE DW service policies are policy updates for previous UE DW service policies of one or more existing DW services, or are used for one or more new DW services.

[0031] If the PF does not send one or more UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration or the PF provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the PF may send a UE policy notification to the UE via one or more of the CMF and AN, so that the UE may timely obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0032] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0033] sending a UE subscription data request to a data management function (DMF) to request UE subscription data; and

[0034] obtaining a UE subscription data response from the DMF to obtain the UE subscription data.

[0035] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE subscription data request includes one or more  of a UE ID and a UE location.

[0036] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE subscription data response includes one or more of a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access and at least one connection management parameter.

[0037] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the UE policy request includes the at least one connection management parameter received from the DMF.

[0038] NFs in the network may exchange messages to perform network registration for the UE, and the CMF may get the UE service subscription profile from the DMF, which may be used to request the one or more UE DW service policies from the PF, so that the UE may access the network for further operation and the network may discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service, thereby improving the overall network performance.

[0039] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, each of the one or more UE DW service policies includes one or more of following parameters for one or more DW services:

[0040] a DW service name;

[0041] a DW service ID;

[0042] a data network name (DNN) of data network (DN) that provides DW service;

[0043] information of network slice of a network that provides DW service;

[0044] address information of the DW application server (AS) that provides DW service;

[0045] address information of domain name system (DNS) server that the UE may use to discover DW AS;

[0046] location information of DW service that the DW service is available;

[0047] time information of DW service that the DW service is available;

[0048] a data privacy protection statement for the UE and user that use the DW service;

[0049] one or more types of data to be collected by a network related to the DW service;

[0050] one or more types of data that may be shared with a third party;

[0051] charging information for DW service;

[0052] one or more types of data to be provided to the UE by the DW service or network if the UE joins DW services of network; and

[0053] one or more data processing processes that the UE may participate related to the DW service.

[0054] By defining the parameters included in the UE DW service policy in detail, the UE can clearly and easily know which kinds of DW service the UE can participate in.

[0055] In a possible implementation of the first aspect, the method further includes:

[0056] establishing a secure data connection between the UE and the CMF, where the CMF provides functionalities to support one or more of control plane (CP) signaling, data-related tasks (e.g. data transmission tasks, data processing tasks, data storage tasks, data sharing tasks) between the UE and NF (s) in one or more of a core network (CN) and a data network (DN) , and mobility management of the UE.

[0057] By establishing a secure connection between the UE and the CMF, the UE network registration can be achieved.

[0058] In a second aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a DW service to a UE, including:

[0059] sending one or more UE DW service policies to the UE via one or more of a CMF and an AN, where the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services; and

[0060] obtaining an acknowledgment via one or more of the AN and the CMF to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies, where the acknowledgment is from the UE.

[0061] This solution may be performed by a PF in the network. By sending one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtaining an acknowledgment from the UE, the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network may easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE may select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs may participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0062] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0063] obtaining a UE policy request from the CMF to request the one or more UE DW service policies; and

[0064] sending a UE policy response to the UE to provide the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0065] Because the PF may obtain the UE policy request from the CMF and send the policies to the CMF, the CMF may obtain the policies by means of the UE policy request and response and then forward the policies to the UE even though the PF does not send the policies to the UE actively, thereby providing a flexible way to provide the policies to the UE.

[0066] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE policy request includes one or more of a UE DW service policy request, a UE ID, a UE location, and a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access, where the UE DW service policy request is used to request the one or more UE DW service policies. The UE ID may represent a functional unit of ED that provides control and data connections with the AN. The network may have UE subscription data of the UE.

[0067] By defining the parameters included in the UE policy request in detail, the PF can clearly and easily know the information of the UE that may be required for creating the one or more UE DW service policies for the UE.

[0068] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE policy response includes the UE ID and the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0069] Because the UE policy response may include the one or more UE DW service policies, after the PF sends the UE policy response to the CMF, the CMF may forward the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE by using the UE network registration response, thus the UE may be aware of UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration.

[0070] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE policy response includes the UE ID, and the method further includes:

[0071] sending a UE policy notification to the UE via one or more of the CMF and the AN, where the CMF provides functionalities to support one or more of CP signaling, data-related tasks (e.g. data transmission tasks, data processing tasks, data storage tasks, data sharing tasks) between the UE and NF (s) in one or more of a CN and a DN, and mobility management of the UE, where the UE policy notification includes the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0072] Because the PF may send a UE policy notification to the UE, the UE may obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0073] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the one or more UE DW service policies are policy updates for previous UE DW service policies of one or more existing DW services, or are used for one or more new DW service.

[0074] If the PF does not send one or more UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration or the PF provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the PF may send a UE policy notification to the UE via one or more of the CMF and the AN, so that the UE may timely obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0075] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the method further includes:

[0076] sending a UE subscription data request to a DMF to request UE subscription data;

[0077] obtaining a UE subscription data response from the DMF to obtain the UE subscription data; and

[0078] creating the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0079] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE subscription data request includes one or more  of a UE ID and a UE location.

[0080] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE subscription data response includes one or more of a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access and at least one connection management parameter.

[0081] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE policy request includes the at least one connection management parameter received from the DMF.

[0082] NFs in the network may exchange messages to perform network registration for the UE, and the policies can be sent to the UE, so that the UE can access the network for further operation and the network can discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service, thereby improving the overall network performance.

[0083] In a possible implementation of the second aspect, the UE DW service policy includes one or more of following parameters for one or more DW services:

[0084] a DW service name;

[0085] a DW service ID;

[0086] a DNN of DN that provides DW service;

[0087] information of network slice of a network that provides DW service;

[0088] address information of the DW AS that provides DW service;

[0089] address information of DNS server that the UE may use to discover DW S;

[0090] location information of DW service that the DW service is available;

[0091] time information of DW service that the DW service is available;

[0092] a data privacy protection statement for the UE and user that use the DW service;

[0093] one or more types of data to be collected by a network related to the DW service;

[0094] one or more types of data that may be shared with a third party;

[0095] charging information for DW service;

[0096] one or more types of data that may be provided to the UE by the DW service or network if the UE joins DW services of network; and

[0097] one or more data processing processes that the UE may participate related to the DW service.

[0098] By defining the parameters included in the UE DW service policy in detail, which kinds of DW service the UE can participate in can be clearly and easily known by the UE.

[0099] In a third aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a DW service to a UE, including:

[0100] obtaining one or more UE DW service policies from a PF via one or more of a CMF and an AN, where  the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services; and

[0101] sending an acknowledgment to the PF via one or more of the AN and the CMF to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0102] This solution can be performed by a UE. By obtaining one or more UE DW service policies from a PF and sending an acknowledgment to the PF, the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0103] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the method further includes:

[0104] sending a UE network registration request to the CMF via the AN to register the UE with the network; and

[0105] obtaining a UE network registration response from the CMF via the AN to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful.

[0106] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the UE network registration request includes one or more of a UE ID and an indication to register with the network.

[0107] The UE may send the UE network registration request to the CMF so as to register the UE with the network, whereby the UE can use the service of the network while the network can discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service.

[0108] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the UE network registration response includes an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful.

[0109] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the UE network registration response includes a cause indicating a reason the registration with the network is unsuccessful.

[0110] The UE network registration response itself may be an indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. For example, the UE may try to register the network again or obtain authorization which may be required for network  registration.

[0111] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the UE network registration response includes the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0112] Because the UE network registration response includes the one or more UE DW service policies, the UE can be aware of UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration.

[0113] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the method further includes:

[0114] obtaining a UE policy notification from the PF via one or more of the CMF and the AN, where the UE policy notification includes the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0115] Because the UE may obtain a UE policy notification including the one or more UE DW service policies from the PF, the UE may obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0116] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the one or more UE DW service policies are policy updates for previous UE DW service policies of one or more existing DW services, or are used for one or more new DW services.

[0117] If the PF does not send one or more UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration or the PF provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the UE may obtain a UE policy notification from the PF, so that the UE may timely obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0118] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the UE DW service policy includes one or more of following parameters for one or more DW services:

[0119] a DW service name;

[0120] a DW service ID;

[0121] a DNN of DN that provides DW service;

[0122] information of network slice of a network that provides DW service;

[0123] address information of the DW AS that provides DW service;

[0124] address information of DNS server that the UE may use to discover DW AS;

[0125] location information of DW service that the DW service is available;

[0126] time information of DW service that the DW service is available;

[0127] a data privacy protection statement for the UE and user that use the DW service;

[0128] one or more types of data to be collected by a network related to the DW service;

[0129] one or more types of data that may be shared with a third party;

[0130] charging information for DW service;

[0131] one or more types of data to be provided to the UE by the DW service or network if the UE joins DW services of network; and

[0132] one or more data processing processes that the UE may participate related to the DW service.

[0133] By defining the parameters included in the UE DW service policy in detail, the UE can clearly and easily know which kinds of DW service the UE can participate in.

[0134] In a possible implementation of the third aspect, the method further includes:

[0135] establishing a secure data connection between the UE and the CMF, where the CMF provides functionalities to support one or more of control plane (CP) signaling, data-related tasks (e.g. data transmission tasks, data processing tasks, data storage tasks, data sharing tasks) between the UE and NF (s) in one or more of a CN and a DN, and mobility management of the UE.

[0136] By establishing a secure connection between the UE and the CMF, the UE network registration can be achieved.

[0137] In a fourth aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a DW service to a UE, including:

[0138] sending a DW service join request to a digital world control function (DWCF) to request for the UE to join a DW service; and

[0139] obtaining a DW service join response from the DWCF to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0140] This solution may be performed by a CMF in the network. By sending a DW service join request to a DWCF and obtaining a DW service join response from the DWCF, the request for joining the DW service from the UE may be transferred so that the network can determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. In this way, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0141] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the method further includes:

[0142] obtaining a DW service request to request for the UE to join the DW service, where the DW service request is from the UE; and

[0143] sending a DW service response to the UE via an AN to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0144] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the DW service request includes one or more of a UE ID, DW service information, a DNN, network slice information, a user consent to allow data collection, time  information, location information, an indication of whether the data type may be shared with a third party, a user consent to receive DW information, and a user consent to participate in one or more data processing processes of the network.

[0145] Because the CMF may obtain the DW service request from the UE and send the DW service response back to the UE, the CMF may facilitate the UE to provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance. Moreover, by defining the parameters in the DW service request in detail, the UE can have full control of which DW service to join, what types of data to be collected, what types of data processing processes in the network, what types of data to be shared with a third party, and what type of data to receive from DW service.

[0146] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the DW service response includes an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0147] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the DW service response includes a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful.

[0148] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the cause includes one or more of the UE is not subscribed to DW service, the DW service is not available, and the UE location is out of DW service area.

[0149] The DW service response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . Moreover, because the DW service response may include a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the UE may clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at the time that the DW service is available.

[0150] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the DW service join request includes one or more of: a UE location, and one or more parameters of the received DW service request.

[0151] By sending a DW service join request to a DWCF and obtaining a DW service join response from the DWCF, the UE can request for joining the DW service so that the network can determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful based on parameters such as one or more of: UE location, and one or more parameters of the received DW service request. In this way, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0152] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the DW service join response includes an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0153] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the DW service join response includes a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful.

[0154] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the cause includes one or more of the UE is not subscribed to DW service, the DW service is not available, and the UE location is out of DW service area.

[0155] The DW service join response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . Moreover, because the DW service join response may include a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the UE may clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE can prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at another location that the DW service is available.

[0156] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the method further includes:

[0157] selecting a DWCF that provides the requested DW service based on local information about DWCF services.

[0158] Because the DWCF can be selected according to local information about DWCF services, a proper DWCF can be determined according to actual demands or conditions to perform the operation such as verifying the authorization of UE, etc.

[0159] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the method further includes:

[0160] sending a network entity (NE) profile request to a network entity repository (NER) to discover available DWCF;

[0161] obtaining a NE profile response from the NER to obtain NE profile information; and

[0162] selecting a DWCF from one or more of local information about DWCF services and the NE profile information.

[0163] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the NE profile request includes one or more of a NF name to be discovered which is set to DWCF, DW service information, network information, a UE ID, and a UE location. The UE ID may represent a functional unit of ED that provides control and data connections with the AN. The network may have UE subscription data of the UE.

[0164] In a possible implementation of the fourth aspect, the first NE profile response includes the NE profile information.

[0165] Because the DWCF can be selected according to local information about DWCF services and / or the NE profile information from the NER, a proper DWCF can be determined according to another way based on actual  demands or conditions to perform the operation such as verifying the authorization of UE, etc.

[0166] In a fifth aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a DW service to a UE, including:

[0167] obtaining a DW service join request from a CMF to request for the UE to join the DW service; and

[0168] sending a DW service join response to the CMF to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0169] This solution can be performed by a DWCF in the network. By obtaining a DW service join request from a CMF and sending a DW service join response to the CMF, after the UE requests for joining the DW service, the network can determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. In this way, the UEs can provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0170] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the method is performed by a DWCF, and the DWCF is selected by the CMF based on one or more of local information about DWCF services and NE profile information.

[0171] Because the DWCF can be selected according to local information about DWCF services and / or the NE profile information, a proper DWCF can be determined based on actual demands or conditions to perform the operation such as verifying the authorization of UE, etc.

[0172] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the DW service join request includes one or more of a UE location, and one or more parameters of a DW service request, and the DW service join response includes a DW service response.

[0173] Because the DW service join request can include one or more of a UE location, and one or more parameters of a DW service request, and the DW service join response can include a DW service response, after obtaining the request for joining the DW service from the UE, the DWCF in the network can determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful based on parameters such as one or more of: UE location, and one or more parameters of the received DW service request. In this way, the UEs can provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0174] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the DW service request includes one or more of a UE ID, DW service information, a DNN, network slice information, a user consent to allow data collection, time information, location information, an indication of whether the data type can be shared with a third party, a user consent to receive DW information, and a user consent to participate in one or more data processing process of the network.

[0175] By defining the parameters in the DW service request in detail, the UE can have full control of which  DW service to join, what types of data to be collected, what types of data processing processes in the network, what types of data to be shared with a third party, and what type of data to receive from DW service.

[0176] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the DW service join response includes an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0177] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the DW service join response includes a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful.

[0178] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the cause includes one or more of the UE is not subscribed to DW service, the DW service is not available, and the UE location is out of DW service area.

[0179] The DW service join response can include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message can be used as an indication) . Moreover, because the DW service join response can include a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the UE can clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE can prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at another time or at another location where the DW service is available.

[0180] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the method further includes:

[0181] sending a UE DW subscription data request to a DMF to request UE DW subscription data; and

[0182] obtaining a UE DW subscription data response to obtain the UE DW subscription data.

[0183] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the UE DW subscription data request includes one or more of a UE ID and a UE location. The UE ID may represent a functional unit of ED that provides control and data connections with the AN. The network may have UE subscription data of the UE.

[0184] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the UE DW subscription data response includes one or more of a UE ID, a DW service name, DW service that is subscribed, DW service that is not subscribed, a scope of DW service location, time information to provide DW service to UE, network slice information to provide DW service to UE, one or more data types to be collected for the subscribed DW service, one or more data types that may be shared with a third party, one or more data processing processes that the UE may be requested to participate in, and one or more data types that may be sent to the UE from the subscribed DW service.

[0185] NFs in the network may exchange messages to decide whether the UE is allowed to join or use a DW service.

[0186] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the method further includes:

[0187] sending a DW configuration update request to a digital word data plane function (DWDPF) to update a  DW configuration; and

[0188] obtaining a DW configuration update response from the DWDPF to confirm a receipt of the DW configuration update request.

[0189] In a possible implementation of the fifth aspect, the DW configuration update request includes one or more of a UE ID, a DW service ID, and a list of data types of each DW service.

[0190] By sending a DW configuration update request to a DWDPF and obtaining a DW configuration update response from the DWDPF, the DWCF can enable the DWDPF to know the latest DW configuration so that the UE can further have full control of which DW service to join.

[0191] In a sixth aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a DW service to a UE, including:

[0192] sending a DW service request to a CMF via an AN to request for the UE to join a DW service; and

[0193] obtaining a DW service response to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful, where the DW service response is from the CMF.

[0194] This solution can be performed by a UE. By sending a DW service request to a CMF, the request for joining the DW service from the UE may be transferred so that the network can determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful and inform the UE of the result by means of the DW service response. In this way, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0195] In a possible implementation of the sixth aspect, the DW service request includes one or more of a UE ID, DW service information, a DNN, network slice information, a user consent to allow data collection, time information, location information, an indication of whether the data type may be shared with a third party, a user consent to receive DW information, and a user consent to participate in one or more data processing processes of the network.

[0196] By defining the parameters in the DW service request in detail, the UE can have full control of which DW service to join, what types of data to be collected, what types of data processing processes in the network, what types of data to be shared with a third party, and what type of data to receive from DW service.

[0197] In a possible implementation of the sixth aspect, the DW service response includes an indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0198] In a possible implementation of the sixth aspect, the DW service response includes a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful.

[0199] In a possible implementation of the sixth aspect, the cause includes one or more of the UE is not  subscribed to DW service, the DW service is not available, and the UE location is out of DW service area.

[0200] The DW service response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . Moreover, because the DW service response may include a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the UE may clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensive. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at another time or at another location where the DW service is available.

[0201] In a seventh aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for providing a DW service to a UE, including:

[0202] obtaining a DW data collection subscription from a DWCF, where the DW data collection subscription is for one or more types of data that is collected by a data collection and distribution function (DCDF) ; and

[0203] sending a DW data collection subscription acknowledgment to the DWCF to confirm a receipt of the DW data collection subscription.

[0204] This solution can be performed by a DCDF. By obtaining a DW data collection subscription from a DWCF and sending a DW data collection subscription acknowledgment to the DWCF, DCDF may collect, under the request of the DWCF, data related to the UE from NFs that serve the UE. In this way, a large amount of data from NFs for DW applications can be collected as desired.

[0205] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the DW data collection subscription includes one or more of NF data, NF information, a UE ID, a list of data types to be collected for the UE, a data collection delay budget for each type of data to be collected, and data processing NF information.

[0206] By defining the parameters in detail, the DCDF can find out which NFs serve the UE so that DCDF can subscribe those NFs to get the desired data.

[0207] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the method further includes:

[0208] obtaining a NF service profile notification from a NER to obtain a NF service profile; and

[0209] sending a NF service profile notification acknowledgment to the NER to acknowledge a receipt of NF service profile notification.

[0210] In a possible implementation of the sixth aspect, the NF service profile notification includes an NF service profile which matches subscription parameters, where the NF service profile notification is sent by the NER after the NER receives a NF registration request or a NF service profile update request, where the NF service profile is obtained by the NER from the NF registration request or the NF service profile update request.

[0211] By obtaining a NF service profile notification from a NER and sending a NF service profile notification acknowledgment to the NER, the DCDF can know the latest NF service profile, which may be the service profile of a new NF or a service profile update for an existing NF, thereby facilitating the DCDF to get desired NF service profiles and collect data from NFs according to actual demands or conditions.

[0212] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the method further includes:

[0213] sending a DW data collection subscription to a NF service provider when a new NF or a reconfigured NF provides one or more types of data that has been subscribed by the DWCF; and

[0214] obtaining a DW data collection subscription acknowledgement from the NF service provider to acknowledge a receipt of the DW data collection subscription.

[0215] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the DW data collection subscription includes one or more of a UE ID, a list of data types related to the UE, a list of data types related to NF.

[0216] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the method further includes:

[0217] obtaining a first DW data notification from the NF service provider to obtain data that was subscribed by the DCDF; and

[0218] sending a first DW data notification acknowledgment to the NF service provider to acknowledge a receipt of the first DW data notification.

[0219] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the first DW data notification carries data that was subscribed by the DCDF.

[0220] If a new NF or a reconfigured NF provides one or more types of data that has been subscribed by the DWCF, the DCDF can send a DW data collection subscription to the NF service provider so that the NF service provider can produce some data that was subscribed by the DCDF, which facilities the DCDF to get the desired data according to actual demands or conditions.

[0221] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the method further includes:

[0222] sending a second DW data notification to a DWDPF to provide the data that was subscribed by the DCDF; and

[0223] obtaining a second DW data notification acknowledgment from the DWDPF to acknowledge a receipt of the second DW data notification.

[0224] By sending the second DW data notification to a DWDPF and obtaining a second DW data notification acknowledgment from the DWDPF, the DCDF may send the data subscribed by the DWCF to the DWDPF for processing, thereby facilitating the DWDPF to perform further operations.

[0225] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the method further includes:

[0226] sending a NF service profile subscription to a NER to request the NER to send a new service profile of NF to a DCDF; and

[0227] obtaining a NF service profile subscription acknowledgement from the NER to confirm a receipt of the NF service profile subscription.

[0228] In a possible implementation of the seventh aspect, the NF service profile subscription includes one or more of a type of NF, a location of interest, a DNN, network slice information.

[0229] By sending a NF service profile subscription to a NER and obtaining a NF service profile subscription acknowledgement from the NER, the DCDF may subscribe to new NF service profiles from the NER, and the NER will send the new service profile of NF to the DCDF whenever a new NF registers or an existing NF has service profile change.

[0230] In an eighth aspect, the present disclosure provides a first apparatus including various modules for executing the method according to the first aspect or any possible implementation of the first aspect.

[0274] The ED 110 includes at least one memory 208. The memory 208 stores instructions and data used, generated, or collected by the ED 110. For example, the memory 208 could store software instructions or modules configured to implement some or all of the functionality and / or embodiments described herein and that are executed by one or more processing unit (s) (e.g., a processor 210) . Each memory 208 includes any suitable volatile and / or non-volatile storage and retrieval device (s) . Any suitable type of memory may be used, such as random access memory (RAM) , read only memory (ROM) , hard disk, optical disc, subscriber identity module (SIM) card, memory stick, secure digital (SD) memory card, on-processor cache, and the like.

[0275] The ED 110 may further include one or more input / output devices (not shown) or interfaces. The input / output devices or interfaces permit interaction with a user or other devices in the network. Each input / output device or interface includes any suitable structure for providing information to or receiving information from a user, and / or for network interface communications. Suitable structures include, for example, a speaker, microphone, keypad, keyboard, display, touch screen, etc.

[0276] The ED 110 includes the processor 210 for performing operations including those operations related to  preparing a transmission for uplink transmission to the AN 170; those operations related to processing downlink transmissions received from the AN 170; and those operations related to processing sidelink transmission to and from another ED 110. Processing operations related to preparing a transmission for uplink transmission may include operations such as encoding, modulating, transmit beamforming, and generating symbols for transmission. Processing operations related to processing downlink transmissions may include operations such as receive beamforming, demodulating and decoding received symbols. Depending upon the embodiment, a downlink transmission may be received by the receiver 203, possibly using receive beamforming, and the processor 210 may extract signaling from the downlink transmission (e.g. by detecting and / or decoding the signaling) .

[0277] Although not illustrated, the processor 210 may form part of the transmitter 201 and / or part of the receiver 203. Although not illustrated, the memory 208 may form part of the processor 210.

[0278] The processor 210, the processing components of the transmitter 201, and the processing components of the receiver 203 may each be implemented by the same or different one or more processors that are configured to execute instructions stored in a memory (e.g. in the memory 208) . Alternatively, some or all of the processor 210, the processing components of the transmitter 201, and the processing components of the receiver 203 may each be implemented using dedicated circuitry, such as a programmed field-programmable gate array (FPGA) , an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , or a hardware accelerator such as a graphics processing unit (GPU) or an artificial intelligence (AI) accelerator.

[0279] The AN 170 may be known by other names in some implementations, such as a base station, a base transceiver station (BTS) , a radio base station, a network node, a network device, a device on the network side, a transmit / receive node, a Node B, an evolved NodeB (eNodeB or eNB) , a Home eNodeB, a next Generation NodeB (gNB) , a transmission point (TP) , a site controller, an access point (AP) , a wireless router, a relay station, a terrestrial node, a terrestrial network device, a terrestrial base station, a base band unit (BBU) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , an active antenna unit (AAU) , a remote radio head (RRH) , a central unit (CU) , a distributed unit (DU) , a positioning node, among other possibilities. The AN 170 may be a macro BS, a pico BS, a relay node, a donor node, or the like, or combinations thereof. The AN 170 may refer to the forgoing devices or refer to apparatus (e.g. a communication module, a modem, or a chip) in the forgoing devices.

[0280] In some embodiments, the parts of the AN 170 may be distributed. For example, some of the modules of the AN 170 may be located remote from the equipment that houses the antennas 256 for the AN 170, and may be coupled to the equipment that houses the antennas 256 over a communication link (not shown) sometimes known as front haul, such as common public radio interface (CPRI) . Therefore, in some embodiments, the term AN 170 may  also refer to modules on the network side that perform processing operations, such as determining the location of the ED 110, resource allocation (scheduling) , message generation, and encoding / decoding, and that are not necessarily part of the equipment that houses the antennas 256 of the AN 170. The modules may also be coupled to other ANs. In some embodiments, the AN 170 may actually be a plurality of ANs that are operating together to serve the ED 110, e.g. through the use of coordinated multipoint transmissions.

[0281] The AN 170 includes at least one transmitter 252 and at least one receiver 254 coupled to one or more antennas 256. Only one antenna 256 is illustrated to avoid congestion in the drawing. One, some, or all of the antennas 256 may alternatively be panels. The transmitter 252 and the receiver 254 may be integrated as a transceiver. The AN 170 further includes a processor 260 for performing operations including those related to: preparing a transmission for downlink transmission to the ED 110, processing an uplink transmission received from the ED 110. Processing operations related to preparing a transmission for downlink or backhaul transmission may include operations such as encoding, modulating, precoding (e.g. multiple input multiple output (MIMO) precoding) , transmit beamforming, and generating symbols for transmission. Processing operations related to processing received transmissions in the uplink or over backhaul may include operations such as receive beamforming, demodulating received symbols, and decoding received symbols. The processor 260 may also perform operations relating to network access (e.g. initial access) and / or downlink synchronization, such as generating the content of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) , generating the system information, etc. In some embodiments, the processor 260 also generates an indication of beam direction, e.g. BAI, which may be scheduled for transmission by a scheduler 253. The processor 260 performs other network-side processing operations described herein, such as determining the location of the ED 110.

[0282] The scheduler 253 may be coupled to the processor 260. The scheduler 253 may be included within or operated separately from the AN 170. The scheduler 253 may schedule uplink, downlink, sidelink, and / or backhaul transmissions, including issuing scheduling grants and / or configuring scheduling-free (e.g., “configured grant” ) resources. The AN 170 further includes a memory 258 for storing information and data. The memory 258 stores instructions and data used, generated, or collected by the AN 170. For example, the memory 258 could store software instructions or modules configured to implement some or all of the functionality and / or embodiments described herein and that are executed by the processor 260.

[0283] Although not illustrated, the processor 260 may form part of the transmitter 252 and / or part of the receiver 254. Also, although not illustrated, the processor 260 may implement the scheduler 253. Although not illustrated, the memory 258 may form part of the processor 260.

[0284] The processor 260, the scheduler 253, the processing components of the transmitter 252, and the processing components of the receiver 254 may each be implemented by the same or different one or more processors that are configured to execute instructions stored in a memory, e.g. in the memory 258. Alternatively, some or all of the processor 260, the scheduler 253, the processing components of the transmitter 252, and the processing components of the receiver 254 may be implemented using dedicated circuitry, such as a programmed FPGA, a hardware accelerator (e.g., a GPU or AI accelerator) , or an ASIC.

[0285] One or more steps of the embodiment methods provided herein may be performed by corresponding units or modules, according to FIG. 3. FIG. 3 illustrates units or modules in a device, such as in the ED 110 or in the AN 170. For example, a signal may be transmitted or output by a transmitting unit or by a transmitting module. A signal may be received or input by a receiving unit or by a receiving module. A signal may be processed by a processing unit or a processing module. Other steps may be performed by an artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) module. The respective units or modules may be implemented using hardware, one or more components or devices that execute software, or a combination thereof. For instance, one or more of the units or modules may be a circuit such as an integrated circuit. Examples of an integrated circuit includes a programmed FPGA, a GPU, or an ASIC. For instance, one or more of the units or modules may be logical such as a logical function performed by a circuit, by a portion of an integrated circuit, or by software instructions executed by a processor. It will be appreciated that where the modules are implemented using software for execution by a processor for example, the modules may be retrieved by a processor, in whole or part as needed, individually or together for processing, in single or multiple instances, and that the modules themselves may include instructions for further deployment and instantiation.

[0286] While not shown, the transmitting module and the receiving module may be part of, or combined into, a transceiver module. A transceiver module may also be known as an interface module, or simply an interface, for inputting and outputting operations.

[0315] Embodiments of the present disclosure may involve various devices or functions, such as:

[0316] mobile devices, UE 130, sensor devices 110, actuator devices 120, any electronics devices that may provide sensing and actuator services for a DW application. Functionalities of the ED, UE 130, and NFs are described in more details in embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0317] FIG. 4 is a schematic flowchart of a method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method may be implemented by a first apparatus such as a CMF in the network. Optionally, the first apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the first apparatus can be a computer machine in a data centre, a communication module, or a chip, or any network element in the network) , which is not limited herein. The first apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 4, the method may include the following steps.

[0318] S410, sending one or more UE DW service policies to the UE via an AN, where the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services.

[0319] S420, obtaining an acknowledgment to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies, where the acknowledgment is from the UE.

[0320] In details, the first apparatus such as the CMF may send the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtain the acknowledgment from the UE, thus the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. In some possible implementations, the UE may be a dedicated or non-dedicated sensor or actuator, or both. A dedicated sensor may be a device that is specifically designed to perform one or more sensing tasks. A dedicated actuator may be a device that is specifically designed to perform one or more actuating tasks. A non-dedicated sensor may be a device that has both sensing and non-sensing functions. A non-dedicated actuator may be a device that has both actuating and non-actuating functions. By using this solution, the network including the CMF can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that the UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0321] In some possible implementations, the first apparatus can send a UE policy request to a PF to request the one or more UE DW service policies, and obtain a UE policy response from the PF to obtain the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the CMF may send the UE policy request to the PF to obtain the one or more UE DW service policies from the PF, the CMF may obtain the policies in a more flexible way even though the PF does not send the policies to the UE actively.

[0322] In some possible implementations, the UE policy request may include one or more of a UE DW service policy request, a UE ID, a UE location, and a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is  allowed to access, where the UE DW service policy request is used to request the one or more UE DW service policies. The UE ID can be used to identify which UE is required for notifying DW service, which is not limited herein. By defining the parameters included in the UE policy request in detail, the PF can clearly and easily know the information of the UE that may be required for creating the one or more UE DW service policies for the UE.

[0323] In some possible implementations, the first apparatus may obtain a UE network registration request from the UE via the AN to register the UE with the network, and send a UE network registration response to the UE via the AN to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the UE network registration request may include one or more of a UE ID and an indication to register with the network. In a possible implementation, the UE network registration request itself may be an indication indicating to register the UE with the network. Alternatively, the UE network registration request may include an indication indicating to register the UE with the network (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . In a possible implementation, the UE ID may be used to identify which UE requests the UE network registration request, which is not limited herein. Based on the above, the CMF may obtain the UE network registration request from the UE so as to register the UE with the network, whereby the UE can use the service of the network while the network can discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service. The request result may be indicated by the UE network registration response.

[0324] In some possible implementations, the UE network registration response may include an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the UE network registration response may include a cause indicating a reason the registration with the network is unsuccessful. The UE network registration response itself may be an indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. Alternatively, the UE network registration response may include an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . Through the indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful, the first apparatus may inform the UE of the network registration result. In some possible implementations, the indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful may be a network registration result code which may indicate one of network registration results, such as successful, unsuccessful. When the registration with the network is unsuccessful, the cause may be further carried in the UE network registration response to inform the UE of the cause of the unsuccessful network registration, so that the UE may clearly know the reason why the UE network registration request is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to register the network again or  obtain authorization which may be required for network registration. After the UE successfully registers with the network, the UE may use the service of the network.

[0325] In some possible implementations, the UE network registration response may include the one or more UE DW service policies, and the UE policy response may include the UE ID and the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the UE policy response may include the one or more UE DW service policies, after obtaining the UE policy response, the CMF may forward the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE by using the UE network registration response, and then the UE may be aware of UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration.

[0326] In some possible implementations, the UE policy response may include the UE ID, and the first apparatus may obtain a UE policy notification from the PF, where the UE policy notification may include the one or more UE DW service policies, and send the UE policy notification to the UE. Because the CMF may obtain a UE policy notification from the PF, the CMF may send the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE, so that the UE may obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0327] In some possible implementations, the one or more UE DW service policies may be policy updates for previous UE DW service policies of one or more existing DW services, or may be used for one or more new DW services. Specifically, if the PF does not send one or more UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration or the PF provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the PF may send a UE policy notification to the UE via one or more of the CMF and AN, so that the UE may timely obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0328] In some possible implementations, the first apparatus may send a UE subscription data request to a DMF to request UE subscription data, and obtain a UE subscription data response from the DMF to obtain the UE subscription data. In some possible implementations, the UE subscription data request may include one or more of a UE ID and a UE location. In some possible implementations, the UE subscription data response may include one or more of a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access and at least one connection management parameter. In some possible implementations, the UE policy request may include the at least one connection management parameter received from the DMF. Based on the above, NFs in the network may exchange messages to perform network registration for the UE, and the CMF may get the UE service subscription profile from the DMF, which may be used to request the one or more UE DW service policies from the PF, so that the UE may access the network for further operation and the network may discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service, thereby improving the overall network performance.

[0329] In some possible implementations, each of the one or more UE DW service policies may include one or more of following parameters for one or more DW services: a DW service name; a DW service ID; a DNN of DN that provides DW service; information of network slice of a network that provides DW service; address information of the DW AS that provides DW service; address information of DNS server that the UE may use to discover address information of DW servers (such as DW DPF and DW AS) ; location information of DW service that the DW service is available; time information of DW service that the DW service is available; a data privacy protection statement for the UE and user that use the DW service; one or more types of data to be collected by a network related to the DW service; one or more types of data that may be shared with a third party; charging information for DW service; one or more types of data to be provided to the UE by the DW service or network if the UE joins DW services of network; and one or more data processing processes that the UE may participate related to the DW service. Based on the above, by defining the parameters included in the UE DW service policy in detail, the UE can clearly and easily know which kinds of DW service the UE can participate in.

[0330] In some possible implementations, the first apparatus may establish a secure connection between the UE and a CMF, where the CMF provides functionalities to support one or more of CP signaling, data-related tasks (e.g. data transmission tasks, data processing tasks, data storage tasks, data sharing tasks) between the UE and NF (s) in one or more a CN and a DN, and mobility management of the UE. Based on the above, by establishing a secure connection between the UE and the CMF, the UE network registration may be achieved.

[0331] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the first apparatus can send one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtain an acknowledgment from the UE, the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network including the CMF can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0332] FIG. 5 is a schematic flowchart of another method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method can be implemented by a second apparatus such as a PF. Optionally, the second apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the second apparatus can be a communication module, or a chip, or any network element in the network) , which is not limited herein. The second apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 5, the method can include the following steps.

[0333] S510, sending one or more UE DW service policies to the UE via one or more of a CMF and an AN,  where the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services.

[0334] S520, obtaining an acknowledgment via one or more of the AN and the CMF to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies, where the acknowledgment is from the UE.

[0335] In details, the second apparatus such as the PF can send one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtain an acknowledgment from the UE, thus the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network including the PF can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that the UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0336] In some possible implementations, the second apparatus can obtain a UE policy request from the CMF to request the one or more UE DW service policies, and send a UE policy response to the UE to provide the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the PF can obtain the UE policy request from the CMF and send the policies to the CMF, the CMF can obtain the policies by means of the UE policy request and response and then forward the policies to the UE even though the PF does not send the policies to the UE actively, thereby providing a flexible way to provide the policies to the UE.

[0337] In some possible implementations, the UE policy request can include one or more of a UE DW service policy request, a UE ID, a UE location, and a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access, where the UE DW service policy request is used to request the one or more UE DW service policies. The UE ID can be used to identify which UE is required for notifying DW service, which is not limited herein. By defining the parameters included in the UE policy request in detail, the PF can clearly and easily know the information of the UE that may be required for creating the one or more UE DW service policies for the UE.

[0338] In some possible implementations, the UE policy response can include the UE ID and the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the UE policy response can include the one or more UE DW service policies, after the PF send the UE policy response to the CMF, the CMF can forward the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE by using the UE network registration response, thus the UE can be aware of UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration.

[0339] In some possible implementations, the UE policy response can include the UE ID, and the second apparatus can send a UE policy notification to the UE via one or more of the CMF and the AN, where the CMF provides functionalities to support one or more of CP signaling, data-related tasks (e.g. data transmission tasks, data processing tasks, data storage tasks, data sharing tasks) between the UE and NF (s) in one or more of a CN and a DN,  and mobility management of the UE. The UE policy notification can include the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the PF can send a UE policy notification to the UE, the UE can obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0340] In some possible implementations, the one or more UE DW service policies can be policy updates for previous UE DW service policies of one or more existing DW services, or can be used for one or more new DW services. Specifically, if the PF does not send one or more UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration or the PF provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the PF may send a UE policy notification to the UE via one or more of the CMF and the AN, so that the UE may timely obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0341] In some possible implementations, the second apparatus can send a UE subscription data request to a DMF to request UE subscription data, obtain a UE subscription data response from the DMF to obtain the UE subscription data, and create the one or more UE DW service policies. In some possible implementations, the UE subscription data request can include one or more of a UE ID and a UE location. In some possible implementations, the UE subscription data response can include one or more of a UE service subscription profile indicating network services the UE is allowed to access and at least one connection management parameter. In some possible implementations, the UE policy request can include the at least one connection management parameter received from the DMF. Based on the above, NFs in the network may exchange messages to perform network registration for the UE, and the policies can be sent to the UE, so that the UE can access the network for further operation and the network can discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service, thereby improving the overall network performance.

[0342] In some possible implementations, the UE DW service policy can include one or more of following parameters for one or more DW services: a DW service name; a DW service ID; a DNN of DN that provides DW service; information of network slice of a network that provides DW service; address information of the DW AS that provides DW service; address information of DNS server that the UE may use to discover address information of DW servers (such as DW DPF and DW AS) ; location information of DW service that the DW service is available; time information of DW service that the DW service is available; a data privacy protection statement for the UE and user that use the DW service; one or more types of data to be collected by a network related to the DW service; one or more types of data that may be shared with a third party; charging information for DW service; one or more types of data to be provided to the UE by the DW service or network if the UE joins DW services of network; and one or more data processing processes that the UE may participate related to the DW service. Based on the above, by defining the parameters included in the UE DW service policy in detail, which kinds of DW service the UE can  participate in can be clearly and easily known by the UE.

[0343] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the second apparatus can send one or more UE DW service policies to the UE and obtain an acknowledgment from the UE, the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network including the PF can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0344] FIG. 6 is a schematic flowchart of yet another method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method can be implemented by a third apparatus such as a UE. Optionally, the third apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the third apparatus can be a communication module, or a chip) , which is not limited herein. The third apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 6, the method can include the following steps.

[0345] S610, obtaining one or more UE DW service policies from a PF via one or more of a CMF and an AN, where the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services.

[0346] S620, sending an acknowledgment to the PF via one or more of the AN and the CMF to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0347] In details, the third apparatus such as the UE can obtain one or more UE DW service policies from a PF and send an acknowledgment to the PF, thus the UE can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that the UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UE can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0348] In some possible implementations, the third apparatus can send a UE network registration request to the CMF via the AN to register the UE with the network, and obtain a UE network registration response from the CMF via the AN to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the UE network registration request can include one or more of a UE ID and an indication to register with the network. In a possible implementation, the UE network registration request itself can be an indication indicating to register the UE with the network. Alternatively, the UE network registration request can include an indication indicating to register the UE with the network (for example, a field in the message can be used as an indication) . In a possible implementation, the UE ID can be used to identify which UE requests the UE network  registration request, which is not limited herein. Based on the above, the UE can send the UE network registration request to the CMF so as to register the UE with the network, whereby the UE can use the service of the network while the network can discover the UE and inform the UE of the DW service. The request result can be indicated by the UE network registration response.

[0349] In some possible implementations, the UE network registration response can include an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the UE network registration response can include a cause indicating a reason the registration with the network is unsuccessful. The UE network registration response itself can be an indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful. Alternatively, the UE network registration response can include an indication to indicate whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message can be used as an indication) . Through the indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful, the UE can be informed of the network registration result. In some possible implementations, the indication indicating whether the registration with the network is successful or unsuccessful may be a network registration result code which can indicate one of network registration results, such as successful, unsuccessful. When the registration with the network is unsuccessful, the cause can be further carried in the UE network registration response to inform the UE of the cause of the unsuccessful network registration, so that the UE can clearly know the reason why the UE network registration request is unsuccessful, and then, the UE can prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to register the network again or obtain authorization which may be required for network registration. After the UE successfully registers with the network, the UE can use the service of the network.

[0350] In some possible implementations, the UE network registration response can include the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the UE network registration response can include the one or more UE DW service policies, the UE can be aware of UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network registration.

[0351] In some possible implementations, the third apparatus can obtain a UE policy notification from the PF via one or more of the CMF and the AN, where the UE policy notification can include the one or more UE DW service policies. Because the UE can obtain a UE policy notification including the one or more UE DW service policies from the PF, the UE can obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0352] In some possible implementations, the one or more UE DW service policies are policy updates for previous UE DW service policies of one or more existing DW services, or are used for one or more new DW services. Specifically, if the PF does not send one or more UE DW service policies during the procedure of UE network  registration or the PF provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the UE can obtain a UE policy notification from the PF, so that the UE can timely obtain the policies in an easy way.

[0353] In some possible implementations, the UE DW service policy can include one or more of following parameters for one or more DW services: a DW service name; a DW service ID; a DNN of DN that provides DW service; information of network slice of a network that provides DW service; address information of the DW AS that provides DW service; address information of DNS server that the UE may use to discover address information of DW servers (such as DW DPF and DW AS) ; location information of DW service that the DW service is available; time information of DW service that the DW service is available; a data privacy protection statement for the UE and user that use the DW service; one or more types of data to be collected by a network related to the DW service; one or more types of data that may be shared with a third party; charging information for DW service; one or more types of data to be provided to the UE by the DW service or network if the UE joins DW services of network; and one or more data processing processes that the UE may participate related to the DW service. Based on the above, by defining the parameters included in the UE DW service policy in detail, the UE can clearly and easily know which kinds of DW service the UE can participate in.

[0354] In some possible implementations, the third apparatus can establish a secure data connection between the UE and the CMF, where the CMF provides functionalities to support one or more of CP signaling, data-related tasks (e.g. data transmission tasks, data processing tasks, data storage tasks, data sharing tasks) between the UE and NF (s) in one or more of a CN and a DN, and mobility management of the UE. Based on the above, by establishing a secure connection between the UE and the CMF, the UE network registration can be achieved.

[0355] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the third apparatus may obtain one or more UE DW service policies from a PF and send an acknowledgment to the PF, the UE and user can be aware of DW service (s) provided by the network and can select which DW service to use. By using this solution, the network can easily inform the UE of the DW service so that UE can select which DW service to join or use, such as collecting data and controlling functions of some devices. In this way, the UEs can participate in DW services in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0356] An example method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure is illustrated as follows.

[0357] The network may provide DW service information to the user and / or UE by using a method illustrated in FIG. 9. In this method, a NF, such as PF, may send DW service information to the UE during or after the UE performs a UE network registration.

[0358] The DMF may manage UE DW subscription data. The UE DW subscription data may include one or more of UE DW subscription profiles. Each UE DW subscription profile may include one or more of following parameters:

[0359] - UE ID;

[0360] - DW service name;

[0361] - DW service ID representing the DW service;

[0362] - Service area: The area that can provide the DW service. The service area may include one or more of following parameters, but not limited to: one or more IDs of the AN nodes of the AN, one or more cell IDs of the AN, one or more tracking area IDs (TAI) of the AN, one or more geographic zone IDs, one or more civic addresses, one or more of road segments, one or more of 2D locations in a map, one or more of 3D locations in a map, an area bounded by a list of waypoints, one or more of geographic area IDs, one or more names of building, one or more names of city, one or more names of province, one or more names of country.;

[0363] - Time information: The time the service is available, e.g. one or more time periods each may be represented by a start time and an end time, one or more days of weeks;

[0364] - DNN: name of data network that may provide the DW service;

[0365] - Network slice information of network slice that may provide the DW service or provide access to the DW service: e.g. Single Network Slice Selection Assistance Information (S-NSSAI) , Network Slice Instance (NSI) ID;

[0366] - User consent required: (e.g. Yes or No) , to indicate whether the UE or user needs to provide consent to join the DW service;

[0367] - Data privacy and security protection statement: The network may need to provide a statement on how the network protects the user privacy and provides security for user data for all processing steps, such as data transmission, storage, sharing, processing, by the network and its authorized service partner;

[0368] - List of data types to be collected and corresponding consent requirement: For each data type to be collected from the UE or user, the UE or user may need to provide consent whether the network may collect this data type;

[0369] - List of data types that may be shared with a third party and corresponding consent requirement: For each data type that may be shared, the UE or user may need to provide consent whether the network may share this data type. The shared data of UE may be raw data without processing, or after being processed in the network. The UE data may be processed in the network to remove the UE identifiable data before sharing with a third party for  example;

[0370] - List of data types the UE may receive from the DW service and corresponding consent requirement: For each data type to be sent from the DW service to the UE, the UE or user may need to provide consent to indicate whether the UE or user agrees to receive the DW data;

[0371] - Data processing requirements and corresponding consent requirement: The UE may participate in one or more data processing processes with the network. The data processing process may be an AI data processing process, e.g. a federated learning model training. For each data processing process, the UE or user may need to provide consent whether the UE or user agrees to join the data processing process.

[0372] During the UE network registration process, the PF may get the UE subscription data of the UE from the DMF. If the UE subscription data contains the UE DW subscription data, the PF may create one or more of UE DW service policy, each for one or more of DW services, for the UE and may provide UE DW service policy to the UE. In this implementation, the DW service information is described in a format of UE DW service policy, which includes parameters of DW service.

[0413] - Charging information for DW service: e.g. the price per megabyte of data, no charge for DW data collection, time of the day charging rate (e.g. (possibly lower) rate for DW data collection in the night time 12: 00 am –5: 00 am for large data volume) ;

[0414] - One or more types of data that may be provided to the user and / or UE 710 by a DW service if the user and / or UE 710 join the DW service of network: e.g. school related information for DW School, hospital related information for DW Hospital;

[0415] - One or more data processing processes: The UE 710 may be requested to participate in one or more data processing processes with the network. The data processing process may be an AI data processing process, e.g.  a federated learning model training.

[0416] The PF 760 may send a UE policy response to the CMF 730 in step 703b to respond for the message received from the CMF 730 in step 703a. The message may include one or more of following information: UE ID, UE connection service policy, UE DW service policy, and other policies.

[0417] Step 704: The CMF 730 may establish a secure data connection between the UE 710 and the CMF 730. The messages exchanged between the UE 710 and the CMF 730 may be carried in this secure data connection.

[0418] Step 705a: The CMF 730 may send a UE network registration response to the UE 710 via the AN 720. For example, as shown in step 410 of FIG. 4, the CMF 730 may send one or more UE DW service policies in the UE network registration response to the UE 710 via the AN 720, where the one or more UE DW service policies are used for the UE to participate in one or more DW services. As shown in step 510 of FIG. 5, the one or more UE DW service policies are provided by the PF 760.

[0419] The UE network registration response may include one or more of following information: an indication to indicate whether the UE 710 has been successfully registered with the network (e.g. accept, reject) , cause (e.g. to describe why the UE network registration request is reject) , one or more UE policies received from the PF 760, e.g. UE connection service policy, one or more UE DW service policies.

[0420] Step 705b: The AN 720 may forward the UE network registration response to the UE 710.

[0421] After receiving the UE policies, the UE 710 may store the UE policies, including the UE DW service policy if any, in a local memory of the UE 710.

[0422] Step 706a: If the PF 760 does not send one or more UE policies, e.g. one or more UE DW service policies, to the CMF 730 in step 703b, or the PF 760 provides policy updates for previous UE policies, or a new DW service is created, the PF 760 may send a UE policy notification to the UE 710 via one or more of the CMF 730 and the AN 720. For example, as shown in step 510 of FIG. 5 and step 610 of FIG. 6, the PF 760 may send the one or more UE DW service policies to the UE 710 via one or more of the CMF 730 and the AN 720.

[0423] The message may include one or more UE policies, e.g. one or more UE DW service policies.

[0424] Step 706b: If the CMF 730 receives the message in step 706a, the CMF 730 may forward the UE policy notification to the UE 710 via the AN 720.

[0425] Step 706c: If the AN 720 receives the message in step 706b, the AN 720 may forward the UE policy notification to the UE 710.

[0426] Step 707a: After receiving the UE policies, the UE 710 may store the UE policies in a local memory. The UE 710 may send a UE policy notification acknowledgment to the network via the AN 720. For example, as  shown in step 420 of FIG. 4, step 520 of FIG. 5, and step 620 of FIG. 6, the UE 710 may send the acknowledgment to the PF 760 via one or more of the AN 720 and the CMF 730 to confirm a receipt of the one or more UE DW service policies.

[0427] The UE policy notification acknowledge may be to confirm the receipt of UE policy from the PF 760 in step 705b or 706c.

[0428] Step 707b: The AN 720 may forward the UE policy notification acknowledgment to the CMF 730.

[0429] Step 707c: The CMF 730 may forward the UE policy notification acknowledgment to the PF 760.

[0430] In some implementations, the DWCF may have some functionalities of PF 760 related to DW service. For example, the DWCF may create and provide UE DW service policies for the UE 710. In these implementations, the messages sent from and / or received by the PF 760 in FIG. 7 may be sent from and / or received by the DWCF.

[0431] In some implementations, the PF 760 may send the UE policy notification to the AN 720 in step 706b directly, not via the CMF 730. The AN 720 may send the UE policy notification acknowledgment to the PF 760 in step 707b directly, not via the CMF 730.

[0432] FIG. 8 is a schematic flowchart of yet another method for providing a method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method may be implemented by a fourth apparatus such as a CMF in the network. Optionally, the fourth apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the fourth apparatus may be a communication module, or a chip, or any network element in the network) , which is not limited herein. The fourth apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 8, the method may include the following steps.

[0433] S810, sending a DW service join request to a DWCF to request for the UE to join a DW service.

[0434] S820, obtaining a DW service join response from the DWCF to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0435] In details, the fourth apparatus such as the CMF may send a DW service join request to a DWCF and obtain a DW service join response from the DWCF, thus the request for joining the DW service from the UE may be transferred so that the network can determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. By using this solution, the UE may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0436] In some possible implementations, the fourth apparatus may obtain a DW service request to request for the UE to join the DW service, where the DW service request is from the UE, and the fourth apparatus may send a DW service response to the UE via an AN to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful  or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the DW service request may include one or more of a UE ID, DW service information, a DNN, network slice information, a user consent to allow data collection, time information, location information, an indication of whether the data type may be shared with a third party, a user consent to receive DW information, and a user consent to participate in one or more data processing processes of the network. Based on the above, because the CMF may obtain the DW service request from the UE and send the DW service response back to the UE, the CMF may facilitate the UE to provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance. Moreover, by defining the parameters in the DW service request in detail, the UE may have full control of which DW service to join, what types of data to be collected, what types of data processing processes in the network, what types of data to be shared with a third party, and what type of data to receive from DW service.

[0437] In some possible implementations, the DW service response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the DW service response may include a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the cause may include one or more of the UE is not subscribed to DW service, the DW service is not available, and the UE location is out of DW service area. The DW service response itself may be an indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. Alternatively, the DW service response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . Through the indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful, the fourth apparatus may inform the UE of the joining request result. In some possible implementations, the indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful may be a joining request result code which may indicate one of joining request results, such as successful, unsuccessful. When the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the cause may be further carried in the DW service response to inform the UE of the cause of the unsuccessful joining request, so that the UE may clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at the time that the DW service is available.

[0438] In some possible implementations, the DW service join request may include one or more of: a UE location, and one or more parameters of the received DW service request. Based on the above, the network may determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful based on parameters such as one or more of: UE location, and one or more parameters of the received DW service request. In this way, the UEs  may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0439] In some possible implementations, the DW service join response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the DW service join response may include a cause indicating reason the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful. In some possible implementations, the cause may include one or more of the UE is not subscribed to DW service, the DW service is not available, and the UE location is out of DW service area. The DW service join response itself may be an indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. Alternatively, the DW service join response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful (for example, a field in the message may be used as an indication) . When the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the cause may be further carried in the DW service join response to inform the UE of the cause of the unsuccessful joining request, so that the UE can clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at another time or at another location where the DW service is available.

[0440] In some possible implementations, the fourth apparatus may select a DWCF that provides the requested DW service based on local information about DWCF services. Based on the above, because the DWCF may be selected according to local information about DWCF services, a proper DWCF may be determined according to actual demands or conditions to perform the operation such as verifying the authorization of UE.

[0441] In some possible implementations, the fourth apparatus may send a NE profile request to a network entity repository (NER) to discover available DWCF, obtain a NE profile response from the NER to obtain NE profile information, and select a DWCF from one or more of local information about DWCF services and the NE profile information. In some possible implementations, the NE profile request may include one or more of a NF name to be discovered which is set to DWCF, DW service information, network information, a UE ID, and a UE location. In some possible implementations, the first NE profile response may include the NE profile information. Based on the above, because the DWCF may be selected according to local information about DWCF services and / or the NE  profile information from the NER, a proper DWCF may be determined according to another way based on actual demands or conditions to perform the operation such as verifying the authorization of UE, etc.

[0442] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the fourth apparatus may send a DW service join request to a DWCF and obtain a DW service join response from the DWCF, thus the request for joining the DW service from the UE may be transferred so that the network may determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. In this way, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0443] FIG. 9 is a schematic flowchart of yet another method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method may be implemented by a fifth apparatus such as a DWCF. Optionally, the fifth apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the fifth apparatus may be a communication module, or a chip, or any network element in the network) , which is not limited herein. The fifth apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 9, the method may include the following steps.

[0444] S910, obtaining a DW service join request from a CMF to request for the UE to join the DW service.

[0445] S920, sending a DW service join response to the CMF to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0446] In detail, the fifth apparatus such as a DWCF may obtain a DW service join request from a CMF and send a DW service join response to the CMF, after the UE requests for joining the DW service, the network may determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. By using this solution, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0447] In some possible implementations, the DWCF may be selected by the CMF based on one or more of local information about DWCF services and NE profile information. Because the DWCF may be selected according to local information about DWCF services and / or the NE profile information, a proper DWCF may be determined based on actual demands or conditions to perform the operation such as verifying the authorization of UE, etc.

[0448] In some possible implementations, the DW service join request may include one or more of a UE location, and one or more parameters of a DW service request, and the DW service join response may include a DW service response. Because the DW service join request may include one or more of a UE location, and one or more parameters of a DW service request, and the DW service join response may include a DW service response, after obtaining the request for joining the DW service from the UE, the DWCF in the network may determine whether the  request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful based on parameters such as one or more of: UE location, and one or more parameters of the received DW service request. In this way, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0449] In some possible implementations, the DW service request may include one or more of a UE ID, DW service information, a DNN, network slice information, a user consent to allow data collection and type (s) of data that may be collected, time information, location information, an indication or user consent of whether which data type may be shared with a third party, a user consent to receive which types of DW information, and a user consent to participate in one or more data processing process of the network. By defining the parameters in the DW service request in detail, the UE may have full control of which DW service to join, what types of data to be collected, what types of data processing processes in the network, what types of data to be shared with a third party, and what type of data to receive from DW service.

[0450] In some possible implementations, the DW service join response may include an indication to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. Through the indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful, the fifth apparatus may inform the CMF of the joining request result. In some possible implementations, the indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful may be a joining request result code which may indicate one of joining request results, such as successful, unsuccessful. When the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the cause may be further carried in the DW service join response to inform the CMF of the cause of the unsuccessful joining request, so that the CMF may transfer the result to the UE for the UE to clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at another time or at another location where the DW service is available.

[0451] In some possible implementations, the fifth apparatus may send a UE DW subscription data request to a DMF to request UE DW subscription data, and obtain a UE DW subscription data response to obtain the UE DW  subscription data. In some possible implementations, the UE DW subscription data request may include one or more of a UE ID and a UE location. In some possible implementations, the UE DW subscription data response may include one or more of a UE ID, a DW service name, DW service that is subscribed, DW service that is not subscribed, a scope of DW service location, time information to provide DW service to UE, network slice information to provide DW service to UE, one or more data types to be collected for the subscribed DW service, one or more data types that may be shared with a third party, one or more data processing processes that the UE may be requested to participate in, and one or more data types that may be sent to the UE from the subscribed DW service. Based on the above, NFs in the network may exchange messages to decide whether the UE is allowed to join or use a DW service.

[0452] In some possible implementations, the fifth apparatus may send a DW configuration update request to a DWDPF to update a DW configuration, and obtain a DW configuration update response from the DWDPF to confirm a receipt of the DW configuration update request. In some possible implementations, the DW configuration update request may include one or more of a UE ID, a DW service ID, and a list of data types of each DW service. Based on the above, by sending a DW configuration update request to a DWDPF and obtaining a DW configuration update response from the DWDPF, the DWCF may enable the DWDPF to know the latest DW configuration so that the UE may further have full control of which DW service to join.

[0453] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the fifth apparatus may obtain a DW service join request from a CMF and send a DW service join response to the CMF, after the UE requests for joining the DW service, the network may determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. By using this solution, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0454] FIG. 10 is a schematic flowchart of yet another method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method may be implemented by a sixth apparatus such as a UE. Optionally, the sixth apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the sixth apparatus may be a communication module, or a chip) , which is not limited herein. The sixth apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 10, the method may include the following steps.

[0455] S1010, sending a DW service request to a CMF via an AN to request for the UE to join a DW service.

[0456] S1020, obtaining a DW service response to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful, where the DW service response is from the CMF.

[0457] In detail, the sixth apparatus such as the UE may send a DW service request to a CMF and the request for joining the DW service from the UE may be transferred so that the network may determine whether the request  for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful and inform the UE of the result by means of the DW service response. By using this solution, the UEs may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0458] In some possible implementations, the DW service request may include one or more of a UE ID, DW service information, a DNN, network slice information, a user consent to allow data collection, time information, location information, an indication of whether the data type may be shared with a third party, a user consent to receive DW information, and a user consent to participate in one or more data processing processes of the network. By defining the parameters in the DW service request in detail, the UE may have full control of which DW service to join, what types of data that may be collected, what types of data processing processes that may be performed in the network, what types of data that may be shared with a third party, and what type of data that may be received from DW service.

[0459] In some possible implementations, the DW service response may include an indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful. Through the indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful, the sixth apparatus may be informed of the joining request result. In some possible implementations, the indication indicating whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful may be a joining request result code which may indicate one of joining request results, such as successful, unsuccessful. When the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, the cause may be further carried in the DW service response to be informed of the cause of the unsuccessful joining request, so that the UE may clearly know the reason why the request for joining the DW service is unsuccessful, and then, the UE may prepare the next action more comprehensively. For example, the UE may try to join the DW service again at another time or at another location where the DW service is available.

[0460] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the sixth apparatus may send a DW service request to a CMF to request for joining the DW service from the UE so that the network may determine whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful and inform the UE of the result by means of the DW service  response. By using this solution, the UE may provide consent to join a DW service in a more convenient way, which improves the overall network performance.

[0461] Another example method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure is illustrated as follows.

[0462] After receiving the UE DW service policy, the user and UE are aware of DW services provided by the network, what type of data to be collected, what type of data that may be shared with a third party, what type of data processing process that the UE may participate in, what type of data that may be obtained from the network, location of DW service, the charging for data collection, network resource to provide DW service. The UE may send a request to join a DW service. The network may provide an acceptance to use the DW service to the UE and / or user. Then the network may configure NFs for data collection from the UE, and / or DW data distribution to the UE.

[0463] FIG. 11 is a simplified schematic illustration of a method for user and / or UE to provide consent to join a DW service according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 11, the following steps are illustrated as Embodiment 2 presenting a method for the user and / or UE to provide consent to join a DW service.

[0464] Step 1101a: The UE 1110 may send a DW service request to the network via AN 1120. For example, as shown in step 1010 of FIG. 10, the UE 1110 may send the DW service request to the CMF 1130 via the AN 1120 to request for the UE 1110 to join a DW service.

[0465] The message may include one or more parameters:

[0466] - UE ID;

[0467] - DW Service information: DW Service name, DW service ID;

[0468] - DNN;

[0469] - Network slice information, e.g. S-NSSAI, NSI ID;

[0470] - User consent to allow data collection: The consent may indicate one or more data types, or all of data types specified in UE DW service policy, can be collected. For one or more of data type, one or more of following parameters may be provided:

[0471] - Time information: Indicating when the data type may be collected, e.g. one or more time periods, at a certain time of the day;

[0472] - Location information: indicating the location of UE 1110, or the location of data, the data type may be collected. For example, when the UE 1110 is at a location (e.g. a civic address such as home address of user, office building of user) ; when the data of UE 1110 is collected at a road segment, data at a civic  address;

[0473] - Whether the data type may be shared with a third party, e.g. cannot be shared with one or more, or any third party, may be shared with any third party, could be shared with a list of third party;

[0474] - User consent to receive DW information: The consent may indicate one or more data types, or all of data types that the network may provide user or UE 1110 specified in UE DW service policy, total size of all data types (e.g. 10 GByte) . The actual data amount that the UE 1110 may receive may be negotiated with the network when the data is sent from the network to the UE 1110;

[0475] - User consent to participate in one or more data processing process of the network: e.g. user consent to join an AI model training process initiated by the network. The data processing capability of UE 1110 may be negotiated with the network when the data processing session starts. The data processing capability of UE 1110 may include one or more of parameters: number of data processor units, (e.g. CPU, GPU) , processing speed, size of memory for dynamic data processing, size of data storage.

[0476] Step 1101b: The AN 1120 may forward the DW service request received from the UE 1110 to the CMF 1130.

[0477] Step 1102a: The CMF 1130 may receive the DW service request from the UE 1110. The CMF 1130 may check the UE subscription data. If the UE subscription data does not include the requested DW service, the DW service request may be rejected; hence steps 1102a to 1106 may be skipped.

[0478] The CMF 1130 may discover which DWCF 1170 may provide the DW service. The CMF 1130 may have local information about the DWCF services. Alternatively, the CMF 1130 may send a NE profile request to the NER 1150 to discover available DWCF 1170. The message may include one or more of following parameters:

[0479] - NF name (NF type) to be discovered, which is DWCF;

[0480] - DW service information: one or more parameters received in step 1101b, e.g. DW service name, DW service ID;

[0481] - Network information: e.g. DNN, network slice information received in step 1101b;

[0482] - UE ID;

[0483] - UE location.

[0484] Step 1102b: The NER 1150 may send a NE profile response to the CMF 1130. The message may include one or more NE profiles of DWCF 1170 that can serve the DW service request of the UE 1110.

[0485] Step 1103: The CMF 1130 may select one DWCF 1170 from the local information, and / or from the NE profile information provided by the NER 1150.

[0486] Step 1104: The CMF 1130 may send DW service join request to the selected DWCF 1170. For example, as shown in step 810 of FIG. 8 and step 910 of FIG. 9, the CMF 1130 may send the DW service join request to the DWCF 1170 to request for the UE 1110 to join the DW service.

[0487] The message may include one or more of following parameters:

[0488] - UE ID;

[0490] - One or more parameters received in step 1101b or the complete message DW service request received in step 1101b, including, but not limited to: DW Service information (e.g. DW service name, DW service ID) , DNN, network slice information, user consent to allow data collection, user consent for the collected data type that may be shared with a third party, user consent to receive DW information, user consent to participate in one or more data processing process of the network.

[0491] Step 1105a: The DWCF 1170 may send a UE DW subscription data request to the DMF 1140 and / or provide user consent information to use one or more DW services to the DMF 1140. The message may include one or more of parameters, including one or more parameters received from the CMF 1130 in step 1104, e.g.

[0492] - UE ID;

[0493] - UE location;

[0494] - An indication to request for UE DW subscription data;

[0495] - DW service name;

[0496] - DW service ID;

[0497] - Data types that the UE 1110 provided consent for DW data collection;

[0498] - Data types that the UE 1110 provided consent to share, and a list of third party that a data type may be shared or may not be shared;

[0500] - Data types that the UE 1110 provided consent to receive from the DW service.

[0501] Step 1105b: The DMF 1140 may store one or more parameters, such as user consents, received from the DWCF 1170, for example in a DSF. The DMF 1140 may get UE subscription data from the DSF, select suitable UE DW subscription data parameters, and send a UE DW subscription data response to the DWCF 1170, the message may include the information of DW services that the UE 1110 may use. For example, the message may contain one or more of following information of requested DW service:

[0502] - UE ID;

[0503] - DW service name;

[0504] - DW service ID;

[0505] - DW service is subscribed or not subscribed;

[0506] - DW service location the UE 1110 and / or user may access;

[0507] - Time information: indicate the time the DW service may be provided to the UE 1110 and / or user;

[0508] - Network slice information to provide DW service to UE 1110: e.g. S-NSSAI, NSI ID;

[0509] - One or more data types that may be collected for subscribed DW service;

[0510] - One or more data types of the UE 1110 or related to the UE 1110 that may be shared with a third party;

[0511] - One or more data processing processes that the UE 1110 may be requested to participate in;

[0512] - One or more data types that may be sent to the user and / or UE 1110 from the subscribed DW service.

[0513] If the UE 1110 is allowed to use a DW service as part of the UE subscription, the DMF 1140 stores one or more of a parameter, e.g. “UE 1110 joint DW service” , DW service name, and DW service ID as part of UE DW subscription data, e.g. in a DSF, to indicate that the UE 1110 has provided consent to use the DW service. The DMF 1140 may send a message, for example UE subscription data update to NFs that are serving the UE 1110, e.g. the CMF 1130 and PF 1160. The message may include one or more of a parameter to indicate that the UE 1110 is now using the DW service, UE ID, DW service name, and DW service ID. The CMF 1130 and PF 1160 may send a UE subscription data update acknowledgement to the DMF 1140 to confirm the receipt of the UE subscription data update message.

[0514] Step 1106: From the received information in step 1105b, the DWCF 1170 may decide whether the UE 1110 is authorized to use the requested DW service. The DWCF 1170 may send a message DW service join response to the CMF 1130. For example, as shown in step 820 of FIG. 8 and step 920 of FIG. 9, the CMF 1130 may obtain the DW service join response from the DWCF 1170 to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0515] The message may contain one or more of following parameters:

[0516] - an indication whether the UE 1110 is authorized to join the requested DW service, e.g. the indication could be “accept” , “reject” ;

[0517] - cause: to describe the reason the DW service request of the UE 1110 is rejected. For example, the cause could be “UE 1110 is not subscribed to DW service” , “DW service is not available” , “UE location is out of DW service area” .

[0518] Step 1107a: The CMF 1130 may store the DWCF ID of the DWCF 1170 if the UE’s DW service request is accepted. The CMF 1130 may send a DW service response to the UE 1110 via AN 1120. For example, as shown in step 1020 of FIG. 10, the UE 1110 may obtain the DW service response to indicate whether the request for joining the DW service is successful or unsuccessful.

[0519] The message may contain one or more of information received from the DWCF 1170.

[0520] Step 1107b: The AN 1120 may forward the DW service response received from the CMF 1130 to the UE 1110.

[0521] After receiving the DW service response message, the UE 1110 or user may start using the DW service by sending one or more requests to establish data connection sessions with the application server, e.g. the DWDPF 1180, in the network. The UE 1110 or user may start sending UE 1110 or user data that the UE 1110 or user has provided consent to the network for DW data collection.

[0522] Step 1108a: The DWCF 1170 may select one or more DWDPFs 1180 to provide one or more DW services that the UE 1110 requested. The DWCF 1170 may send a DW configuration update request to each of selected DWDPFs 1180. The message may include one or more of following parameters:

[0523] - UE ID: The ID of UE 1110 that may be served by the DWDPF 1180;

[0524] - DW service ID: the DW service the UE 1110 may join;

[0525] - List of data types of each DW service (identified by DW service ID) that may be collected, e.g. by the DWDPF 1180: One or more data types that may be collected by the DWDPF 1180 while the DWDPF 1180 is serving the UE 1110 or user;

[0526] - List of data types of each DW service (identified by DW service ID) that may be shared, e.g. by the DWDPF 1180, with a third party, which may be represented by a third-party name or ID;

[0527] - List of data types of each DW service (identified by DW service ID) that the DWDPF 1180 may provide to the UE 1110 or user while the UE 1110 is using the DW service;

[0528] Step 1108b: The DWDPF 1180 may send a DW configuration update response to the DWCF 1170 to confirm the receipt of the message received in step 1108a.

[0529] In some implementations, some methods illustrated in FIG. 11 may be modified. For example, the CMF may send a UE DW user consent update message to the DMF after step 1101b. This message may include one or more parameters: UE ID, DW Service information (e.g. DW Service name, DW service ID) , DNN, Network slice information (e.g. S-NSSAI, NSI ID) , user consent to allow data collection and related parameters as described in step 1101a, user consent to receive DW information and related parameters as described in step 1101a, user consent  to participate in one or more data processing process of the network and related parameters as described in step 1101a. The DMF may send a UE DW user consent update acknowledgement to the CMF to acknowledge the receipt of UE DW user consent update message. The DMF may send a UE subscription data update to the DSF, including one or more parameters received in the UE DW user consent update message from the CMF. The DSF may store the received parameters in the UE subscription data. The DSF may send to the DMF a UE subscription data update acknowledgement to acknowledge the receipt of UE subscription data update message.

[0530] In some implementations of methods illustrated in FIG. 11, steps 1108a and 1108b may be performed after step 1105b and before step 1106.

[0531] FIG. 12 is a schematic flowchart of yet another method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. The method may be implemented by a seventh apparatus such as a DCDF. Optionally, the seventh apparatus could be other device that has similar function (for example, the seventh apparatus may be a communication module, or a chip, or any network element in the network) , which is not limited herein. The seventh apparatus could also be a whole device. As shown in FIG. 12, the method may include the following steps.

[0532] S1210, obtaining a DW data collection subscription from a DWCF, where the DW data collection subscription is for one or more types of data that is collected by a DCDF.

[0533] S1220, sending a DW data collection subscription acknowledgment to the DWCF to confirm a receipt of the DW data collection subscription.

[0534] In detail, the seventh apparatus such as the DCDF may obtain a DW data collection subscription from a DWCF and send a DW data collection subscription acknowledgment to the DWCF, thus the DCDF may collect, under the request of the DWCF, data related to the UE from NFs that serve the UE. By using this solution, a large amount of data from NFs for DW applications may be collected as desired.

[0535] In some possible implementations, the DW data collection subscription may include one or more of NF data, NF information, a UE ID, a list of data types to be collected for the UE, a data collection delay budget for each type of data to be collected, and data processing NF information. Based on the above, by defining the parameters in detail, the DCDF may find out which NFs serve the UE so that DCDF may subscribe those NFs to get the desired data.

[0536] In some possible implementations, the seventh apparatus may obtain a NF service profile notification from a NER to obtain a NF service profile, and send a NF service profile notification acknowledgment to the NER to acknowledge a receipt of NF service profile notification. In some possible implementations, the NF service profile  notification may include an NF service profile which matches subscription parameters, where the NF service profile notification is sent by the NER after the NER receives a NF registration request or a NF service profile update request, where the NF service profile is obtained by the NER from the NF registration request or the NF service profile update request. Based on the above, by obtaining a NF service profile notification from a NER and sending a NF service profile notification acknowledgment to the NER, the DCDF may know the latest NF service profile, which may be the service profile of a new NF or a service profile update for an existing NF, thereby facilitating the DCDF to get desired NF service profiles and collect data from NFs according to actual demands or conditions.

[0537] In some possible implementations, the seventh apparatus may send a DW data collection subscription to a NF service provider when a new NF or a reconfigured NF provides one or more types of data that has been subscribed by the DWCF, and obtain a DW data collection subscription acknowledgement from the NF service provider to acknowledge a receipt of the DW data collection subscription. In some possible implementations, the DW data collection subscription may include one or more of a UE ID, a list of data types related to the UE, a list of data types related to NF. In some possible implementations, the seventh apparatus may obtain a first DW data notification from the NF service provider to obtain data that was subscribed by the DCDF, and send a first DW data notification acknowledgment to the NF service provider to acknowledge a receipt of the first DW data notification. In some possible implementations, the first DW data notification carries data that was subscribed by the DCDF. Based on the above, if a new NF or a reconfigured NF provides one or more types of data that has been subscribed by the DWCF, the DCDF may send a DW data collection subscription to the NF service provider so that the NF service provider may produce some data that was subscribed by the DCDF, which facilities the DCDF to get the desired data according to actual demands or conditions.

[0538] In some possible implementations, the seventh apparatus may send a second DW data notification to a DWDPF to provide the data that was subscribed by the DCDF, and obtain a second DW data notification acknowledgment from the DWDPF to acknowledge a receipt of the second DW data notification. Based on the above, by sending the second DW data notification to a DWDPF and obtaining a second DW data notification acknowledgment from the DWDPF, the DCDF may send the data subscribed by the DWCF to the DWDPF for processing, thereby facilitating the DWDPF to perform the further operations.

[0539] In some possible implementations, the seventh apparatus may send a NF service profile subscription to a NER to request the NER to send a new service profile of NF to a DCDF, and obtain a NF service profile subscription acknowledgement from the NER to confirm a receipt of the NF service profile subscription. In some possible implementations, the NF service profile subscription may include one or more of a type of NF, a location of interest,  a DNN, network slice information. Based on the above, by sending a NF service profile subscription to a NER and obtaining a NF service profile subscription acknowledgement from the NER, the DCDF may subscribe to new NF service profiles from the NER, and the NER will send the new service profile of NF to the DCDF whenever a new NF registers or an existing NF has service profile change.

[0540] With the method for providing a DW service to a UE, the seventh apparatus may obtain a DW data collection subscription from a DWCF and send a DW data collection subscription acknowledgment to the DWCF, thus the DCDF may collect, under the request of the DWCF, data related to the UE from NFs that serve the UE. By using this solution, a large amount of data from NFs for DW applications may be collected as desired.

[0541] Another example method for providing a DW service to a UE according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure is illustrated as follows.

[0542] In order to collect a large amount of data from NF for DW applications, the DWCF may want to collect all data types related to a UE that the UE has provided consent to join a DW service, or the DWCF may want to collect all data types related to data sessions of the UE (e.g. PDU sessions in a 5G network) .

[0543] Embodiment 3 presents a bulk data collection, e.g. for DW applications. FIG. 13 is a simplified schematic illustration of a bulk data collection, e.g. for DW applications according to one or more example embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 13, the following steps are illustrated.

[0544] Step 1301a: The DCDF 1340 may send a NF service profile subscription to the NER 1330 so that whenever a new NF registers or an existing NF has service profile change, the NER 1330 will send the new service profile of NF to the DCDF 1340. The NF service profile subscription message may include one or more of following parameters:

[0545] - Type of NF: e.g. CMF, SMF, or any types of NF;

[0546] - Location of interest: if a NF provide services in the location of interest, the NER 1330 may notify the DCDF 1340;

[0547] - DNN;

[0548] - Network slice information: e.g. S-NSSAI, NSI ID;

[0549] Step 1301b: The NER 1330 may send a NF service profile subscription acknowledgement to the DCDF 1340 to confirm the receipt of the message in step 1301a.

[0550] Step 1302a: One NF, e.g. DWCF 1350 may send a DW data collection subscription for certain types of data that could be provided by a NF to the DCDF 1340. For example, as shown in step 1210 of FIG. 12, the DCDF 1340 may obtain the DW data collection subscription from the DWCF 1350, where the DW data collection  subscription is for one or more types of data that may be collected by the DCDF 1340.

[0551] The DW data collection subscription may include one or more of following parameters:

[0552] - NF data: e.g. data sessions;

[0553] - NF information: e.g. NF type (e.g. SMF, CMF) , NF ID (e.g. if the DWCF 1350 knows the NF ID) ;

[0554] - UE ID: ID of UE that its data is to be collected;

[0555] - List of data types to be collected for the UE. The UE or user may have already provided consent for each data types in the list of data types by using one or more methods described in other embodiments;

[0556] - Data collection delay for each type of data to be collected: The delay between the time the data is available at the NF and the time the data may be sent to the subscribed NF, e.g. DWCF 1350 in this embodiment. For example, if the data collection delay parameter is set to 0, the data will be sent immediately to the subscribed NF.If the data transmission delay is non-zero, e.g. 1 second, the NF may group one or more data records that are not delayed more than 1 second, and transmit all the data records of this group in one or more messages;

[0557] - Data processing NF information: The information of NF that receives the data subscribed by DWCF 1350. For example, DWDPF 1360 may receive the collected data sent by the DCDF 1340. The Data processing NF information may include NF ID, NF address (e.g. IP address and port number) .

[0558] The DWCF 1350 may send the DW data collection subscription message to the DCDF 1340 after accepting the UE request to join the DW service, e.g. after sending the DW service join response in step 1306 of embodiment 2, illustrated in FIG. 13.

[0559] Step 1302b: The DCDF 1340 may send a DW data collection subscription acknowledgment to the DWCF 1350. For example, as shown in step 1220 of FIG. 12, the DCDF 1340 may send the DW data collection subscription acknowledgement to the DWCF 1350 to confirm a receipt of the DW data collection subscription.

[0560] Step 1303: The OAM (Operation, Administration, and Maintenance) function 1310 of the network may create and configure one or more new NF service providers or change configuration of one or more existing NFs.

[0561] Step 1304a: The OAM 1310 may send a NF registration request to the NER 1330 for a newly created NF, or may send a NF service profile update request for an existing NF. The message may include NF service profile, which may contain one or more of following parameters:

[0562] - NF type: e.g. SMF, CMF, PF;

[0563] - NF ID;

[0564] - NF address: e.g. one or more of IP address and port number, and URL of NF;

[0565] - DNN;

[0566] - Network slice information;

[0567] - Service area;

[0568] - Application ID.

[0569] Step 1304b: The NER 1330 may store the received NF service profile. The NER 1330 may send to the OAM 1310 a NF registration response (if the NER 1330 received NF registration request in step 1303a) , or a NF service profile update response (if the NER 1330 received the NF service profile update request in step 1303a) , to acknowledge the message received in step 1303a.

[0570] Step 1305a: It is possible that the NF service provider 1320 may send a NF registration request (or NF service profile update request) to the NER 1330 instead of OAM 1310.

[0571] Step 1305b: The NER 1330 may send a NF registration response (or NF service profile update response) to the NER 1330 instead of the OAM 1310.

[0572] Step 1306a: After receiving a new NF service profile or a NF service profile notification update, the NER 1330 may send the received NF service profile to the subscribed NF, e.g. the DCDF 1340, if the service profile of NF matches the subscription parameters.

[0573] Step 1306b: The DCDF 1340 may send a NF service profile notification acknowledgment to the NER 1330 to acknowledge the receipt of message in step 1305a.

[0574] Step 1307a: If the new NF or the reconfigured NF may provide one or more types of data that has been subscribed by another NF in step 1302a, the DCDF 1340 may send a DW data collection subscription to the NF service provider 1320. The message may include one or more of following parameters that subscribed by DWCF 1350 in step 1302a:

[0575] - One or more of UE ID;

[0576] - List of data types related to the UE ID: One or more data types the UE has provided consent for data collection;

[0577] - List of data types related to NF;

[0578] - Data collection delay for each type of data to be collected;

[0579] - Data processing NF information: Information of the NF that will receive the collected data. The Data processing NF information may include NF ID, NF address (e.g. IP address and port number) .

[0580] Step 1307b: The NF service provider 1320 may send a DW data collection subscription acknowledgement to the DCDF 1340.

[0581] Step 1308a: The NF service provider 1320 may produce some data that was subscribed by the DCDF  1340 in step 1307a. The NF service provider 1320 may send a DW data notification to the DCDF 1340. The message may carry the data that was subscribed by the DCDF 1340.

[0582] Step 1308b: The DCDF 1340 may send a DW data notification acknowledgment to the NF service provider 1320.

[0583] Step 1309a: The DCDF 1340 may send the received data in step 1308a to the DWDPF 1360 by sending a DW data notification. Note that the DWDPF 1360 may be the data processing NF that the DWCF 1350 provided in step 1302a.

[0584] Step 1309b: The DWDPF 1360 may send a DW data notification acknowledgment to the DCDF 1340 to confirm the receipt of data in step 1309b.

[0585] In some implementations of methods illustrated in FIG. 13, the DW data notification in step 1308a may be sent from the NF service provider 1320 to the DWDPF 1360 if the data processing NF information is provided in message of step 1307a. In step 1309b, the DWDPF 1360 may send the DW data notification acknowledgement to the NF service provider 1320.
