A method and a tapered segment for the assembly of a stairlift guide rail

Abstract

A method for the assembly of a stairlift guide rail (100), the method involving the use of a kit comprising a plurality of segments of guide rail, each segment of the plurality of segments comprising a first face (211) and a second face (212), wherein each tapered segment comprises a protruding lip (220) extending from a first one of said first face and said second face, and a second one of said first face and said second face comprising a recess (351) for receiving a lip 220 of an adjacent tapered segment (210), wherein each segment (210) comprises a through-hole (221) extending across said recess (351) and each lip (220) protruding of each segment (210) comprises a through-hole (221), such that when a lip (220) of an adjacent segment (210) is inserted in said recess (351) said through- holes (221) of said lip (220) and said segment (210) are aligned, and the two adjacent segments are joint by inserting a bolt (231) through said aligned through-holes and fixing said bolt with a nut (232), wherein the radial outer surface (472) of the nut (232) comprises a tapered surface (473), such that when the nut (232) is pulled into the through-hole (221) by rotating the bolt (231) the nut (232) acts as a wedge on the lip (220), thereby pulling the lip (220) and the segment (210) attached thereto tightly towards and against the adjacent segment (210).
