DESCRIPTIONTITLE OF INVENTION: OBJECT RETAINING SYSTEM, DEVICE AND METHODTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] In some aspects, the present technology can relate to an object retaining system, device and method for use in connection with retaining, bundling or organizing one or more objects. In some aspects, the present technology can relate to an electrical cord retaining system, device and method for use in connection with retaining, bundling or organizing one or more electrical cords. In some other aspects, the present technology can relate to methods associated with a retaining, holding, bundling or organizing one or more objects or electrical cords using a retainer. In still some other aspects, the present technology can relate to a retainer capable of adjusting a width or diameter thereof to secure one or more objects or electrical cords therein.BACKGROUND ART

[0002] The use of cord organizers or retainers is known to modern day consumers and users of electrical devices or appliances. With the increased use of electrical devices so does the number of power cords increases. These electrical devices can be, but not limited to, a variety of small appliances, submersible mixer, electric toothbrush or chargers thereof, hair dryers, hair straighteners / irons, hair curlers, beard trimmers, blenders, slow cookers, toasters, kettles, lamps, laptops, smartphones, tablets, computers and peripherals, extensions cords, and the like. It is known that groups of these electrical devices are located in certain areas such as, but not limited to, bathrooms, kitchens, workshops, desks, countertops, cabinets, and the like.

[0003] This staggering number of power cords results in entanglement, a physical hazard and time consumption in separating each electrical devices for their separate use. These electrical cords can have long lengths that can also produce problems for people and children in their vicinity. For instance, multiple electrical cords plugged into an electrical outlet or placed on a surface could have their cords spread on the floor, which could cause a tripping hazard. Another disadvantage is that it can be difficult to separate each electrical device from others when their cords are entangled.

[0004] This disadvantage further presents itself when there are multiple charging cords used to charge different battery powered devices. After use of these devices or whencharging is required, it could be difficult to locate the appropriate charging cord for that particular device from an unorganized bundle of cords.

[0005] A disadvantage of known cord organizers is that the cords can be easily pulled out from within their receiving area, thereby rendering these known cord organizers not sufficient for their intended purpose. Some cord organizers may have a cord retaining notch or slot in an attempt to secure the cord in place. However, this notch or slot creates a pinch point that can crimp or bend the cord, which can create a fatigue crack in the cord and present an electrical and / or fire hazard.

[0006] Consumers and users of multiple electrical devices would benefit to have a device for storing and / or organizing any excess length of an electrical cord to overcome some or more of the above disadvantages.SUMMARY OF INVENTION

[0007] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of cord organizers at least some embodiments of the present technology provides a novel dismountable cord retaining system, device and method, and overcomes one or more of the mentioned disadvantages and drawbacks of the prior art. As such, the general purpose of at least some embodiments of the present technology, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and novel cord retaining system, device and method which has all the advantages of the prior art mentioned herein and many novel features that result in a cord retaining system, device and method which is not anticipated, rendered obvious, suggested, or even implied by the prior art, either alone or in any combination thereof.

The object retainer can include a body including a cavity defined through a longitudinal length of the body. The body can include dimples or detents extending into the cavity. CLAIMSWhat is claimed is as follows:Claim 1 An object retainer for retaining, bundling or organizing one or more objects , the object retainer comprising: a body including opposite open ends, a cavity defined through a longitudinal length of the body, and a slit defined through the body along the longitudinal length, the slit being in communication with the cavity, the cavity being configured to receive one or more objects therein; and a flexible section extendable across the slit and securable around a portion of the body.Claim 2 The retainer according to claim 1 , wherein the flexible section includes a first side and an opposite second side, the first side being secured to a first edge of the body that in part defines the slit, and the second side being extendable over a second edge of the body that in part defines the slit.Claim 3 The retainer according to claim 2, wherein the first edge including an edge slit defined therein along a longitudinal axis of the first edge, the edge slit being configured to receive at least a portion of the first side of the flexible section.Claim 4 The retainer according to claim 1 , wherein the flexible section is selected from the group consisting of a mesh, an elastic mesh, an elastic material, rubber, plastic, and an expandable material.Claim 5 The retainer according to claim 1 further comprising one or more straps each including a first end section secured to the flexible section, and a second free end section configured to wrap around at least a portion of an exterior of the body.Claim 6 The retainer according to claim 5, wherein the second free end section includes a second end fastener configured to secure the second free end section to the body, a second fastening element on the body, or the one or more straps.Claim 7 The retainer according to claim 6, wherein an exterior surface of the one or more straps each includes a fastener configured to be engageable with the second end fastener.Claim 8 The retainer according to claim 5, wherein the one or more straps are configured to pull a second side of the flexible section across the slit and over a second edge of the body that in part defines the slit to place the objectretainer in a closed configuration with the flexible section extending across the slit.Claim 9 The retainer according to claim 5, wherein the body has at least one width or diameter in a closed configuration that is less than at least one width or diameter of the body in an open configuration.Claim 10 The retainer according to claim 1 , wherein an internal surface of the body that defines the cavity includes one or more detents extending into the cavity for contact with at least one of the one or more objects.Claim 11 The cord retainer according to claim 1 further comprises a display window associated with the body, the display window being configured to receive and display an advertisement, printed material or card.Claim 12 The retainer according to claim 1 , wherein the body includes a slot defined longitudinally into the body from any one of or any combination of a first open end and a second open end of the body, wherein the slot creates an exterior side section and an interior side section of the body with the exterior side section and the interior side section being opposite each other.Claim 13 The retainer according to claim 12, wherein the body includes a display window defined through a portion of the exterior side section of the body and in communication with the slot, the display window being configured to allow a card or printed material to be viewed from outside the body when the card or printed material is inserted into the slot and positioned adjacent the display window.Claim 14 The retainer according to claim 13, wherein an arc length of the display window is less than an arc length of the slot to create a ledge of the exterior side that is configured to retain the card or printed material in the slot and adjacent the display window.Claim 15 A method of using the object retainer according claim 1 for retaining or organizing one or more objects, the method comprising the steps of: inserting one or more objects into the cavity defined through the body of the object retainer; pulling a second side of the flexible section across the slit defined through the body along a longitudinal length of the body, wherein a first side of the flexible section is opposite to the second side that is secured to the body, the slit being in communication with the cavity; andsecuring the flexible section in place so that the object retainer is in a closed configuration for retaining the one or more objects in the cavity of the body.
