[0045] As used herein, the term “resource, ” “transmission resource, ” “resource block, ” “physical resource block” (PRB) , “uplink resource, ” or “downlink resource” may refer to any resource for carrying out a communication, for example, a communication between a terminal device and a network device, such as a resource in time domain, a resource in frequency domain, a resource in space domain, a resource in code domain, or any other combination of the time, frequency, space and / or code domain resource enabling a communication, and the like. In the following, unless explicitly stated, a resource in both frequency domain and time domain will be used as an example of a transmission resource for describing some examples of the present disclosure. It is noted that examples of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.

[0046] FIG. 1 illustrates an example communication environment 100 in which examples  of the present disclosure can be carried out. The communication environment 100 comprises network devices including a network device 110-1 in a radio access network (RAN) and a network device 110-2 in a core network (CN) . The network devices 110-1, 110-2 may be collectively or individually referred to as network devices 110. The network device 110-1 in RAN may also be referred to as a RAN network device, a RAN network node, or a base station. The network device 110-2 in CN may also be referred to as a core network device, a CN network device, a core network node, or a CN network node.

[0047] In the example of FIG. 1, the network device 110-1 in RAN serves one or more terminal devices 120-1, 120-2, …, 120-N (collectively or individually referred to as terminal devices 120) . The serving area of the network device 110-1 may be called a cell 102, which may be considered as a current serving cell of the terminal devices 120. There may be one or more cells 104, 106 that are neighbor to the cell 102 and have one or more terminal devices 130-1, 130-2, 130-3, 130-4, 130-5, …, 130-M (collectively or individually referred to as terminal devices 130) served therein. As an example, one or more terminal devices 120 are served in the cell 102 using a frequency and / or a network slice, and one or more terminal devices 130 are served in the same cell or in the different cells 104 and / or 106 using a frequency and / or a network slice different from the frequency and / or network slice used by the terminal devices 120.

[0048] A link from the network device 110-1 to a terminal device 120 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , and a link from the terminal device 120 to the network device 110-1 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the network device 110-1 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the terminal device 120 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the terminal device 120 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 110-1 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0049] It is to be understood that the number of network devices and / or terminal devices shown in FIG. 1 is given for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitations. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of network devices and / or terminal devices.

[0050] Communications in the communication environment 100 may be carried out according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , the sixth  generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0051] Colleting Quality of Experience, (QoE) , measurement or monitoring information may be used by the network to support diverse services or traffic flows. Several types of QoE measurements or parameters to monitor have been proposed, such as signalling-based QoE measurement and management-based QoE measurement.

[0052] For management-based QoE measurement or monitoring, the Orchestration and Management (OAM) entity may transmit one or more QoE measurement / monitoring configurations to the gNB. The QoE measurement or monitoring configuration for management-based activation may also include an application layer measurement or monitoring configuration list and the corresponding information for QoE measurement or monitoring information collection. The gNB selects UE (s) that meet the required QoE measurement capability, area scope and slice scope. FIG. 2A illustrates an example signaling flow 200a for a QoE measurement configuration (QMC) activation example for management-based activation and reporting in the type of management-based QoE measurement.

[0053] For signalling-based QoE information collection, the OAM may initiate the QoE measurement / monitoring activation for a specific UE via the core network (e.g., the fifth generation core network, 5GC) , and the gNB may receive one or more QoE measurement / monitoring configurations by means of UE-associated signalling. The QoE measurement configuration for signalling-based activation may comprise an application layer measurement configuration list and the corresponding information for QoE measurement collection, e.g., QoE reference, service type, measurement collection entity (MCE) Internet Protocol (IP) address, slice scope, area scope, minimization of drive test (MDT) alignment information, the indication of available RAN visible QoE metrics  and / or assistance information. FIG. 2B illustrates an example signaling flow 200b for a QMC activation and reporting example after UE is registered in the type of signalling-based QoE measurement.

[0054] Both management-based QoE and signalling-based QoE are designed for operators or service providers to collect service quality of experience data from the UE application layer (AL) . From the UE side, after receiving the QoE configuration from the network, the UE application layer carries out QoE measurement / monitoring according to indicated QoE metrics and sends QoE measurement / monitoring data, or analysis data, to the UE Access Stratum (AS) layer, and the UE AS layer reports a QoE measurement data container to the gNB. In the network side, for a normal QoE data container, the gNB may transmit the QoE measurement data container to MCE for network management or optimization operations; for NR RAN-visible (RV) QoE, gNB uses the RV-QoE measurement data for RAN access stratum level network management or optimization operations Collected QoE analysis data from UE AL may assist in enhancing network performance such as using the data in network optimization operations. As described in QoE monetization analysis, QoE may be used in monitoring and analyzing network operations. However, according to the current QMC mechanism, network optimization is carried out in a manner not enabling performance adaptation actions in a timely manner, especially for services or applications with strict latency requirements.

[0055] According to some examples of the present disclosure, there is provided a method for QoE analysis; the approach may be seen user-terminal centric instead of network performance centric, or as an addition to the conventional network performance centric approach. In this solution, a terminal device experiencing not satisfied service or application performance, e.g., with a QoE parameter failing to satisfy a QoE threshold, may request a network device (e.g., a RAN network device or a CN network device) to initiate a QoE probe analysis regarding a service, to test or examine QoE of one or more test cells, frequencies, and / or network slices. The network device may take the QoE probe analysis result into account in determining a target cell, network frequency, and / or network slice with a better quality of experience for the terminal device. Therefore, the service experience of the terminal device may be improved, enhanced or adapted to be on the expected level as a response to the reporting to the network device of the low service experience. The approach may be seen user-terminal centric instead of network performance centric. In some examples, the QoE probe analysis is further reported to a  core network. A core network device may determine one or more policy rules in association with the service and / or the terminal device, including one or more rules for charging and / or service control. The core network device transmits the determined one or more policy rules to a RAN network node serving the terminal device. The policy rules may be determined in such a way that the service experience of the terminal device, and probably the service experience of other terminal devices within the same area can be improved.

[0056] Examples of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0057] FIG. 3 illustrates a signaling flow 300 of QoE analysis according to some examples of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 3, the signaling flow 300 involves a network device 110, N terminal devices 120-1, 120-2, …, 120-N (collectively or individually referred to as terminal devices 120, where N is an integer larger than or equal to one) , and M terminal devices 130-1, 130-2, …, 130-M (collectively or individually referred to as terminal devices 130, where M is an integer larger than or equal to one) .

[0058] The N terminal devices 120 are each served by a current serving cell, with a frequency allocated for being used in the current serving cell, and / or using a network slice available in the current serving cell. The N terminal devices 120 may be located in the same or different serving cells, using the same frequency or different frequencies, and / or using the same or different network slices. The M terminal devices 130 are each served by a cell that is different from the serving cell of the terminal devices 120, using a frequency that is different from the frequency used by the terminal devices 120, and / or using a network slice that is different from the network slice used by the terminal devices 120. But the M terminal devices 130 may be located in the same or different cells, using the same frequency or different frequencies, and / or using the same or different network slices.

[0059] In examples of the present disclosure, it is assumed that the terminal devices 120 are configured to carry out a QoE analysis to monitor service experience and obtain improvement when suffers from bad service experience, and it is also assumed that the terminal devices 130 are configured to carry out a QoE probe analysis for the terminal devices 120. However, it would be appreciated that the operations described from the perspective of terminal device 120 may also be implemented at the terminal device 130,  and also the operations described from the perspective of terminal device 130 may also be implemented at the terminal device 120. That is, a terminal device may carry out the QoE analysis for itself, and also carry out the QoE probe analysis for other terminal device (s) , e.g., in response to the request from the network side. Although the plural forms of “terminal devices 120” and “terminal devices 130” are used below, it would be appreciated that this is for the purpose of easy explanation, and the solution proposed in the present disclosure can also be applied to only one terminal device 120 and one terminal device 130.

[0060] In the signaling flow 300, the terminal devices 120 carry out (315) a QoE, analysis regarding at least one service. The terminal devices 120 may carry out QoE measurements by measuring one or more parameters (or metrics) related to QoE of a service.

[0061] A parameter or metric related to Quality-of-experience (QoE) may mean any suitable measure of the end-to-end performance at the service or traffic flow level from the user's perspective. User experience as a measure for service quality is relevant, for example, for video or multimedia services due to their high data traffic demands. As an example, when a quality-of-service metric is data throughput, a QoE metric may be an average throughput, such as the total number of the received content bytes during a measurement interval. This is usually caused by one or more network bottlenecks, where data packets get congested, queued, delayed or dropped. Different parameters may be configured for monitoring the service performance of different services.

[0062] The QoE analysis may be used to determine whether the service performance level is adequate. In the determination threshold values may be used: whether one or more specific parameters (or metrics) related to QoE can satisfy one or more QoE thresholds related to the one or more parameters, respectively. If the one or more specific parameters (or metrics) related to QoE fail to satisfy the corresponding QoE thresholds, it means that the terminal device is suffering a degradation in QoE. The QoE analysis may sometimes be referred to as QoE perception analysis, QoE perception measurement, relative QoE perception measurement, or the like.

[0063] The network device 110, e.g., a CN network device (e.g., AMF or MME) or a RAN network device, may configure one or more of capable terminal devices 120 to carry out the QoE analysis. The terminal devices 120 may carry out the QoE analysis at the application layer for a service or a traffic flow. As an example, the network device 110  may request the terminal devices 120 to carry out the QoE analysis based on a command received and initiated from a management entity, e.g., OAM. As an example, the network device 110 may determine the terminal devices 120 that are capable of the QoE analysis based on capability information of the terminal devices 120, and / or other indication information indicating whether the terminal devices 120 need the QoE analysis.

[0064] To configure the terminal devices 120 to carry out the QoE analysis, the network device 110 may transmit (305) a QoE analysis configuration to the terminal devices 120. The QoE analysis configuration comprises configuration information for carrying out the QoE analysis in a current serving cell of a terminal device 120, for at least one frequency allocated for being used in the current serving cell, and / or for at least one network slice available in the current serving cell. As an example, the QoE analysis configuration may be transmitted via a Radio Resource Control (RRC) message, a User Plane (UP) command, a Media Access Control (MAC) control element (CE) , or in any other suitable ways.

[0065] The terminal devices 120 may receive (310) , prior to the QoE analysis, the QoE analysis configuration and then carry out the QoE analysis based on the configuration information in the received QoE analysis configuration. As an example, the QoE analysis may be carried out at an application layer of a terminal device 120.

[0066] The QoE analysis configuration may indicate one or more parameters to be monitored for a service or a traffic flow. As an example, the QoE analysis configuration may indicate at least one metric to be measured or monitored by a terminal device regarding a service. Additionally, a corresponding QoE threshold may be bundled to each indicated metric as the criteria to be used to evaluate “good” , “bad” and / or other performance levels in the application layer of the terminal devices 120. As an example, the measured object may be one or more parameters or metrics in a QoE configuration container. The QoE analysis configuration may indicate a parameter to be monitored or analyzed (not measured) by a terminal device, to indicate the service performance perceived at the terminal device side. For example, a user can indicate that the application running in the terminal device is too slow by pressing a button, which causes a collection of a parameter indicating a low performance level in the QoE analysis.

[0067] As an example, the metric (s) configured for the QoE analysis may be selected from a plurality of QoE measurement metrics indicated in a normal QoE measurement configuration for a terminal device 120, which may be configured according to the  signalling-based QoE measurement or the management-based QoE measurement as described above. For example, the normal QoE measurement configuration may indicate parameters of Average Throughput (AT) , Initial Playout Delay (IPD) , buffer level, play list, playout delay for media start-up, the displayed video resolution, and so on for a service related to progressive download and DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) . The QoE analysis configuration may indicate some of the parameters, such as AT and IPD, for the QoE analysis reporting with regard to the same service. Thus, the QoE measurement in the QoE analysis at the terminal devices 120 may be considered as a QoE measurement with corresponding QoE thresholds to monitor the performance of a running service or flow in the application layer of the terminal devices 120.

[0068] If a terminal device 120 with QoE analysis configured determines that at least one parameter with regard to the QoE analysis fails to satisfy a QoE threshold of the at least one parameter associated with the at least one service, the terminal device 120 transmits (320) a QoE analysis report to the network device 110 to indicate a degradation in QoE regarding the at least one service. Such QoE analysis report may be transmitted (320) by a terminal device 120 via a high-priority signalling radio bearer or a low-priority signalling radio bearer to the network device 110, based on network configured indication for selection.

[0069] As an example, during the time that the service is running, the application layer of a terminal device 120 measures or monitors the one or more parameters configured for QoE analysis and compares the results to corresponding QoE thresholds. If the terminal device 120 (e.g., its application layer) detects a low level of service experience, e.g., the measured or monitored value of the parameter (s) falls into a QoE threshold range corresponding to a low (or bad) level of service experience, a QoE analysis report is triggered in the application layer of the terminal device 120. For those terminal devices 120 that do not detect bad service experience in the QoE analysis, they may not trigger the QoE analysis reporting.

[0070] Taking QoE for progressive download and DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) as an example, some example parameters / metrics and corresponding QoE thresholds may be defined.

[0071] An example parameter to be measured or monitored for QoE analysis may include Average Throughput (AT) , which is defined in Table 1 below. A QoE threshold may be  configured to AT. If an AT value is less than the QoE threshold of AT, the QoE analysis reporting will be triggered.

[0072] Table 1: Average Throughput

[0073] Another example parameter to be measured or monitored for QoE analysis may include Initial Playout Delay (IPD) which is defined in Table 2 below. A QoE threshold may be configured to IPD. If the IPD value is above the QoE threshold of IPD, the QoE analysis reporting may be triggered.

[0074] Table 2: Initial Playout Delay

[0075] It would be appreciated that multiple thresholds for different parameters of QoE may be configured to the terminal devices 120 and different parameters may be configured for different services. The QoE analysis report may be triggered by a single QoE threshold,  or by a combination of QoE thresholds. The number of report triggering conditions may be more than one, up to the metric attribution.

[0076] As another example, a terminal device 120 may transmit a QoE analysis report regarding the at least one service to the network device 110, no matter whether the measured parameter fails to satisfy a corresponding QoE threshold. The QoE analysis report may include the measurement or monitoring information regarding one or more configured parameters.

[0077] The QoE analysis report may be transmitted to the CN or the RAN, e.g., to a core network device 110-2 or a RAN network device 110-1. For the case of reporting to the CN, a terminal device 120 with the QoE analysis reporting triggered, may transmit, at a non-access stratum (NAS) layer, the QoE analysis report to the core network device 110-2 via a NAS message. As an example, the QoE analysis is carried out at the application layer of the terminal device 120 and an indication is sent from the application layer to the NAS layer to trigger reporting via a NAS message. For the case of reporting to the RAN, the terminal device 120 may transmit, at an AS layer, the QoE analysis report to the RAN network device 110-1 via an RRC message. An indication is sent from the application layer to the AS layer to trigger reporting via an RRC message, e.g., MeasurementReportAppLayer message in NR.

[0078] In addition to the QoE analysis configuration for QoE analysis, the network device 110 may further transmit an RAN access stratum (AS) measurement configuration to the terminal devices 120, to configure the terminal devices 120 to provide access stratum measurements in addition to the QoE analysis report. As an example, the RAN AS measurement configuration may include a RRC Layer 3 (L3) measurement configuration for RRC L3 measurements (or RRC measurements for short) , a Layer 1 (L1) measurement configuration for L1 measurements and user plane protocol layer (PDCP / RLC / MAC) measurement. As an example, the RAN AS measurement configuration may be transmitted to the terminal devices 120 via an RRC signaling. The RAN AS measurement configuration, e.g., the RRC L3 measurement configuration, may be configured to the terminal devices 120 together with the QoE analysis configuration, or may be configured separately from the QoE analysis configuration. As an example, the RAN AS measurement configuration may be provided to the AS layer of the terminal devices 120, while the QoE analysis configuration may be provided to the application layer of the terminal devices 120.

[0079] The access stratum measurements are carried out to monitor or measure the signal strength or signal quality between a terminal device and a network device within a serving cell or neighbour cell, using a frequency and / or a network slice. The RAN AS measurement configuration may indicate one or more measurement metrics and one or more specific conditions to trigger RAN AS measurement result reporting. Some examples of the measurement metrics may include, but are not limited to, reference signal received power (RSRP) , or reference signal received quality (RSRQ) , or the like. As an example, the access stratum measurements may include RRC measurements carried out at Layer 3 (RRC layer) of a terminal device, and / or L1 measurements carried out at Layer 1 (Physical layer) of the terminal device.

[0080] In the case where the RAN AS measurement configuration is provided, a terminal device 120 may further carry out access stratum measurements in at least one cell (e.g., at least one neighbour cell of the terminal devices 120) based on the RAN AS measurement configuration. The terminal device 120 may transmit the access stratum measurement results to the network device 110 if the configured reporting conditions are satisfied. As an example, the access stratum measurements may be transmitted at the AS layer of the terminal device 120 to a RAN network device of the terminal devices 120. The access stratum measurement from a terminal device 120 may include access stratum measurements related to one or more neighbor cells, frequencies, and / or network slices with high signal qualities, e.g., with the strongest RSRP or the strongest RSRQ, or with the RSRP or RSRQ higher than a corresponding threshold. The neighbor cells, frequencies, and / or network slices indicated in the access stratum measurements may be considered as preferred cells, preferred frequencies, and / or preferred network slices of the terminal device 120.

[0081] As an example, if the QoE analysis report is sent at the NAS layer of a terminal device 120 to the core network device 110-2, the AS layer of the terminal device 120 can be indicated as well to send the associated access stratum measurements to the RAN network device 110-1 if the RAN AS measurement configuration is provided. After received, the RAN network device 110-1 may determine the cells, frequencies, and / or network slices for the terminal device 120 and sends indications of the cells, frequencies, and / or network slices to the core network device 110-2 as preferred cells, frequencies, and / or network slices of the terminal device 120.

[0082] As another example, instead of transmitting a report of the associated access stratum  measurements to the network, one or more terminal devices 120 may be configured to directly indicate the candidate cells, candidate frequencies, and / or candidate network slices as preferred ones based on the access stratum measurements, the configurations of neighboring cell, and / or inter-frequency related measurements. The terminal devices 120 may transmit, to the network device 110, indication information indicating one or more candidate cells, one or more candidate frequencies, and / or one or more candidate network slices. As an example, the indication information may be transmitted in association with the QoE analysis report.

[0083] At the network side, the network device 110 receives (325) , from at least one terminal device 120, at least one quality of experience, QoE, analysis report regarding the at least one service. If the at least one QoE analysis report indicates a failure in satisfying at least one QoE threshold associated with the at least one service, the network device 110 determines one or more terminal device 130 for carrying out a QoE probe analysis, and transmits (330) a request to the terminal devices 130 to carry out the QoE probe analysis. The terminal devices 130 are served by at least one cell, using at least one frequency and / or using at least one network slice suitable for providing the at least one service. As mentioned above, the cell, frequency, and / or network slice for the QoE probe analysis are different from the cell, frequency, and / or network slice of the terminal devices 120.

[0084] In the example where one or more access stratum measurements are also received from the terminal devices 120, the network device 110 may determine the at least one cell, the at least one frequency, and / or the at least one network slice for the QoE probe analysis based on the one or more access stratum measurements received from the terminal devices 120. Alternatively, or in addition, if the indication information indicating one or more candidate cells, one or more candidate frequencies, and / or one or more candidate network slices is received from the terminal devices 120, the network device 110 may determine the at least one cell, the at least one frequency, and / or the at least one network slice for the QoE probe analysis taking into consideration the indication information. In this way, the network device 110 may narrow down the scope of cells, frequencies, and / or network slices for which the QoE probe analysis needs to be carried out for the terminal devices 120.

[0085] After determining the cell (s) , frequency (ies) , and / or network slice (s) based on the access stratum measurements and / or the indication information indicating the one or more candidate cells, frequencies, and / or network slices, the terminal devices 130 may be  selected from the determined cell (s) , frequency (ies) , and / or network slice (s) to carry out the QoE probe analysis in these cells, frequencies, or slices to detect the service performance. As an example, although not explicitly shown in FIG. 3, the cell (s) , frequency (ies) , and / or network slice (s) , and / or the terminal devices 130 for carrying out the QoE probe analysis may be selected by a RAN network device, by a core network device, or even by the OAM, no matter which network device receives the QoE analysis report (s) from the terminal devices 120.

[0086] Upon receiving (335) the request for the QoE probe analysis from the network, the terminal devices 130 carries out (340) the QoE probe analysis regarding its serving cell, the frequency used in its serving cell, and / or the network slice used for the serving cell.

[0087] As used herein, a QoE probe analysis is a QoE monitoring (and reporting) that is carried out by a terminal device to probe the service performance in its serving cell, the frequency used in its serving cell, and / or the network slice available in the serving cell, for a further terminal device that is not served in the cell, not using the frequency and / or the network slice. The QoE probe analysis may sometimes be referred to QoE probe measurement, QoE probe reporting, or the like. The QoE probe analysis may be carried out based on a QoE analysis configuration configured to the terminal devices 130 (if available) , or based on a normal QoE measurement configuration. For example, the QoE probe analysis may be carried out based on the management-based QoE measurement or signalling-based QoE measurement, as supported by the terminal devices 130 in the communication systems. As another example, the network device 110 may provide a specific QoE probe analysis configuration for the terminal devices 130 to perform the QoE probe analysis.

[0088] The QoE probe analysis may be configured to monitor the same parameters as those configured for the QoE analysis, or may be configured to monitor different parameters from those configured for the QoE analysis, depending on the configuration. For example, for a service related to progressive download and DASH, the terminal devices 130 may be configured to monitor parameters of Average Throughput (AT) , Initial Playout Delay (IPD) , buffer level, play list, playout delay for media start-up, the displayed video resolution, and so on, as indicated in the normal QoE measurement configuration. The terminal devices 130 may be configured to monitor a subset of the parameters, such as AT and IPD. In the example where the QoE analysis configuration is used to carry out the probe analysis, the probe analysis reporting conditions may be configured in a different  way than those configured for the QoE analysis reporting. A terminal device 130 may be configured to trigger a QoE probe analysis report if it detects that the service performance level is above a threshold, e.g., the monitored parameter is above a QoE threshold (indicating that the service performance is satisfied) .

[0089] The RAN network device 110-1, the core network device 110-2, or the OAM may select the terminal device (s) 130 to carry out the QoE probe analysis based on various factors. As an example, the terminal device (s) 130 may explicitly indicate in its capability information whether it is capable of carrying out the QoE probe analysis for other terminal devices. As another examples, the RAN network device 110-1, the core network device 110-2, or the OAM may select the terminal device (s) 130 based on other implicit capabilities of the terminal devices 130, e.g., the batter capability of the terminal devices 130. It should be noted that how to select terminal devices to carry out the QoE probe analysis can be carried out via combining with other technologies, e.g., positioning measurement, and those terminal devices close to the terminal device (s) who reports the QoE analysis report may be selected.

[0090] For a selected terminal device 130, it may determine whether to reject or accept the request for QoE probe analysis for other terminal devices. As an example, the available battery capacity of the selected terminal device 130 is one factor for the terminal device 130 to consider carrying out the QoE probe analysis or not. For an instance, a terminal device 130 with low battery capacity may decide to reject the request for QoE probe analysis or determine whether to carry out one relaxed QoE probe analysis under a power saving status or carry out a normal QoE probe analysis. The terminal device 130 may inform the decision to RAN network device 110-1, the core network device 110-2, or the OAM which transmits the request.

[0091] To reward the terminal devices 130 for carrying out the QoE probe analysis, the network device 110, e.g., the RAN network device 110-1 or the core network device 110-2 may enhance the QoS enforcement for the selected terminal devices 130. The QoS enhancement or adaptation may be carried out by the network device 110 to reconfigure the data resource bearer (DRB) of the application traffic so that the QoS attributes associated with the DRB may be upgraded (e.g. with higher priority, lower delay budget etc. ) . The network device 110 may transmit, to the terminal devices 130 which transmits the QoE probe analysis reports, configuration information for a DRB of the terminal devices 130, the first configuration information indicating an upgradation of a quality of  service (QoS) attribute associated with the DRB.

[0092] Alternatively, or in addition, if the QoE probe analysis is initiated by a core network device, the service priority may be updated to a higher priority. The network device 110 may transmit, to the terminal devices130, configuration information to update a first priority of a service of the terminal devices 130 to be a second priority higher than the first priority. As an example, the 5G quality indicator (5QI) associated with a QoS flow of the application traffic may be updated to enable the RAN network device to handle the QoS flow with a higher priority. This in one hand can be used by the network to probe the best QoE to be provided to the targeted applications / services in the preferred cells / frequencies / slices of the terminal devices 120. On the other hand, it can be used to reward the selected terminal devices 130 for QoE probe analysis.

[0093] Alternatively, or in addition, to attract more terminal devices to carry out QoE probe analysis and reporting, different charging or data volume awards can be considered to motivate the terminal devices.

[0094] As an example, the network device 110 may determine that the configuration information for QoS enhancement for a selected terminal device 130 based at least in part on a count of QoE probe measurements / monitoring information received from this terminal device 130. Terminal device 130 may store a counter that counts the number of times / energy that the terminal device 130 has consumed while participating in the QoE probe analysis and reporting. This counter may be shared with the network device 110 if needed. Alternatively, the network device 110 may store such information about a terminal device 130 participating in QoE probe analysis and reporting in the UE context information associated with the terminal device 130.

[0095] One or more terminal devices 130 (which decide to carry out the QoE probe analysis) transmit (345) , to the network device 110, their QoE probe analysis reports. A QoE probe analysis report from a terminal device 130 may include QoE probe analysis information regarding the cell, frequency, and / or the network slice associated with the terminal device 130. Such QoE probe analysis report may be transmitted (345) by a terminal device 130 via a high-priority signalling radio bearer or a low-priority signalling radio bearer to the network device 110, based on network configured indication for selection.

[0096] As an example, the QoE probe analysis is one-time analysis in the application layer of a terminal device 130. The terminal device 130 may carry out the QoE probe analysis  before a timer for probe analysis (also referred to as a probe QoE timer) is expired, to obtain QoE probe analysis information. As an example, the value of the timer may be configured by the network device 110 or standardized in specifications. Its reporting data is only valid to the RAN network device, the core network device, or the OAM who requests the QoE probe analysis. One special flag may be attached into the QoE probe analysis report, to indicate that it is probe reporting.

[0097] The network device 110 receives (350) at least one QoE probe analysis report from the one or more terminal devices 130. The network device 110 determines (355) at least one target cell, at least one target frequency and / or at least one target network slice for the at least one terminal device 120 based at least partly on the received at least one QoE probe analysis report from the one or more terminal devices 130.

[0098] As another example, instead of transmitting a request to the terminal devices 130 to carry out the QoE probe analysis report, the network device 110 may determine the at least one target cell, at least one target frequency and / or at least one target network slice for the terminal device (s) 120 reporting the degradation in QoE based on historical or previous QoE probe analysis report (s) received from terminal devices 130 in one or more cells, one or more frequency (ies) used in the cell (s) , and / or one or more network slices available in the cell (s) .

[0099] As an example, the at least one target cell, the at least one target frequency, and / or the at least one target network slice may be determined for a handover procedure, a re-establishment procedure, or a re-selection procedure for the terminal device (s) 120.

[0100] As an example, the network device 110 may apply the network artificial intelligence (AI) capability to analyze these QoE probe analysis reports, in order to determine hand over a terminal device 120 who reported a “bad” QoE to a target cell, frequency, and / or network slice with a better QoE, to re-establish a connection for the terminal device 120 who reported a “bad” QoE with a target cell, frequency, or network slice with a better QoE, and / or to re-select a new target cell, frequency, and / or network slice with a better QoE for the terminal device 120. If the network AI capability is further considered in analyzing on the collected QoE probe analysis report, a specific reporting on a trigger for expected QoE degradation can be considered.

[0101] In an example where one or more access stratum measurements are received from the terminal devices 120, the network device 110 may determine the at least one target  cell, the at least one target frequency, and / or the at least one target network slice for the terminal device (s) 120 based on the at least one QoE probe analysis report from the terminal devices 130 and the one or more access stratum measurements received from the terminal devices 120. In normal handover procedure, the network device always makes decision based on RRC L3 measurement results to select a target cell for handover. In the solution of the present disclosure, in addition to considering the RRC L3 measurement results, and / or the QoE probe analysis reports from the terminal devices 130 are further considered by the network device 110 in the handover decision for the terminal devices 120.

[0102] In the example where the QoE probe analysis report (s) and the access stratum measurements are both considered in the handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision, the priorities and / or weights between the QoE probe analysis report (s) and the access stratum measurements may be provided by an Operation &Management Entity (Q&M) to the core network device 110-2 and / or the RAN network device 110-1.

[0103] For example, one or more target cells, frequencies, and / or network slices with the highest measured value as reported in the QoE probe analysis may be selected for the terminal devices 120. Additionally, the network device 110 may further determine the target cell (s) with the highest signal quality as indicated in the access stratum measurements. The selection criteria for the at least one target cell, the at least one target frequency, and / or the at least one target network slice may be configured or specified in the specifications.

[0104] With the at least one target cell, the at least one target frequency, and / or the at least one target network slice, he network device 110 transmits (360) , to the at least one terminal device 120, which reports the QoE analysis report indicating a failure, a signaling message (e.g., RRC message) , control plane command or user plane control frame indicating the determined at least one target cell, at least one target frequency and / or at least one target network slice.

[0105] At the UE side, a terminal device 120, which reports the QoE analysis report indicating a failure, receives (365) , from the network device 110, the signaling message, control plane command or user plane control frame which indicates the at least one target cell, at least one target frequency and / or at least one target network slice. With the signaling message, control plane command or user plane control frame received from the  network device 110, the terminal device 120 may carry out (370) a handover procedure, re-establishment procedure or re-selection procedure to a target cell, a target frequency, and / or a target network slice among the at least one target cell, the at least one target frequency, and / or the at least one target network slice.

[0106] A terminal device 120 may select a target cell, a target frequency, and / or a target network slice from the target cell (s) , the target frequency (ies) , and / or the target network slice (s) indicated by the network device 110. The selection criteria and the specific operations for the handover procedure, re-establishment procedure or re-selection procedure are not limited in the present disclosure.

[0107] According to the solutions proposed in the present disclosure, the terminal devices can be configured to carry out QoE analysis and reporting, to trigger the network device to carry out QoE improvement for the terminal devices who report QoE degradation. This mechanism can achieve experience improvement at the UE side, which can increase UE attraction to implement the QoE analysis.

[0108] The QoE analysis and improvement flow involves the following phases: (1) QoE analysis configuration phase; (2) QoE analysis and reporting phase; (3) probe UE configuration and QoE probe analysis reporting phase; (4) a handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision phase, as described above with reference to FIG. 3. As indicated above, the network device 110 involved in the signaling flow 300 may be either a RAN network device 110-1 or a core network device 110-2. In the following, an example signaling 400a of FIG. 4A is described for the examples where the RAN network device 110-1 configures the QoE analysis and QoE probe analysis, and an example signaling 400b of FIG. 4B is described for the examples where the core network device 110-2 configures the QoE analysis and QoE probe analysis.

[0109] FIG. 4A illustrates an example signaling 400a between a terminal device (s) 120 (including an application layer 401, a NAS layer 402, and an AS layer 403) , a RAN network device 110-1 (e.g., a gNB) , a core network device 110-2 and an O&M 404 in accordance with some examples of the present disclosure.

[0110] In the QoE analysis configuration phase, at step 405a, the O&M 404 sends a QoE analysis configuration (which may include the parameters for at least one service or traffic flow and corresponding QoE thresholds) to the RAN network device 110-1. As an example, for a configured parameter to be measured or monitored, more than one QoE threshold  may be included to indicate different experience levels, e.g., “good” , “bad” and other levels. Although one terminal device 120 is illustrated in FIG. 4A, the terminal devices 120 may include UEs that are capable of carrying out the QoE analysis and reporting.

[0111] The RAN network device 110-1 may determine that a QoE analysis is initiated for some terminal devices after receiving the QoE analysis configuration from the O&M 404. At step 410a, the RAN network device 110-1 sends the QoE analysis configuration (e.g., in an RRC message such as RRCReconfiguration message) to the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120 for a QoE configuration container (which may include the configured parameters, and corresponding QoE thresholds) .

[0112] As an example, an associated RAN AS measurement configuration may be provided to the terminal device (s) 120 together with the QoE analysis configuration, via an RRC message. To distinguish the associated RAN AS measurement from other normal RAN AS measurement, a flag may be indicated in the RRC message to bundle the RAN AS measurement configuration with the QoE analysis configuration. Further, the RAN AS measurements may be reported with a flag indicating that it is associated with the QoE analysis report as well.

[0113] At step 415a, the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120 sends a QoE analysis configuration container (including the parameters and the corresponding QoE thresholds) to the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120, e.g., via an AT (Attention) command.

[0114] After step 415a, if the monitored service (s) or traffic flow (s) has been started or is on-going, the QoE analysis is carried out in the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120. As an example, if configured, the associated access stratum measurement may also be carried out in the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120.

[0115] In QoE analysis and reporting phase, with the service (s) or traffic flow (s) ongoing, in case of the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120 detects that the measured value of a metric falls to satisfy a QoE threshold associated with the e service (s) or traffic flow (s) , the application layer 401 may determine that the QoE degrades and produces a QoE analysis result. At step 420a, the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120 sends the QoE analysis result (indicating a failure in satisfying the associated QoE threshold or a service experience level of “bad” ) to the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120.

[0116] At step 425a, the AS layer 403 sends a QoE analysis report (indicating a failure in satisfying the associated QoE threshold) and the associated access stratum measurements (if configured) to the RAN network device 110-1, e.g., via an RRC message. The QoE analysis report and the associated access stratum measurements (e.g., the RRC measurements) may be transmitted via an RRC message, e.g., via RRC MeasurementReportAppLayer message.

[0117] At step 430a, if needed (e.g., to support the step 440, Opt2 where the core network device 110-2 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 to carry out QoE probe analysis in some cells, frequencies, or slice to detect its performance) , the RAN network device 110-1 sends information indicating the recommended cells, frequencies, and / or network slices for the terminal device 120 (based on the access stratum measurements) to the core network device 110-2.

[0118] At step 435a, if needed (e.g., to support the step 440, Opt3 where the O&M 404 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 to carry out QoE probe analysis in some cells, frequencies, or slice to detect its performance) , the RAN network device 110-1 sends information indicating the recommended cells, frequencies, and / or network slices for the terminal device 120 (based on the access stratum measurements) to the O&M 404 directly or via the core network device 110-2.

[0119] There are three options in the probe UE configuration and QoE probe analysis reporting phase. At step 440 in Opt1, the RAN network device 110-1 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 (not shown in FIG. 4A) from one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network devices 445 based on the access stratum measurements and / or indication information from the terminal device (s) 120 indicating the preferred cells, frequencies, and / or network slices. The RAN network device 110-1 may send a request to these terminal devices 130 in the one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network devices 445, to carry out the QoE probe analysis. The application layer of the terminal devices 130 may complete one-time QoE probe measurement and analysis before a probe QoE timer is expired. At step 450 in Opt1, the RAN network device 110-1 receives the QoE analysis reports from the terminal devices 130 in the one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network devices 445.

[0120] At step 440 in Opt2, the core network device 110-2 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 (not shown in FIG. 4A) from one or more cells, frequencies, and / or  network devices 445, and sends a request to these terminal devices 130 in the one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network devices 445, to carry out the QoE probe analysis. The application layer 401 of the terminal devices 130 may complete one-time QoE probe measurement and analysis before a probe QoE timer is expired. At step 450 in Opt2, the core network device 110-2 receives the QoE analysis reports from the terminal devices 130 in the one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network devices 445.

[0121] At step 440 in Opt3, the O&M 404 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 (not shown in FIG. At step 450 in Opt3, the O&M 404 receives the QoE analysis reports from the terminal devices 130 in the one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network devices 445.

[0122] In the handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision phase, when the QoE probe analysis reports are received from one or more selected terminal devices 130, analysis is carried out based on the collected QoE probe analysis reports (and may further based on the associated access stratum measurements regarding one or more cells, frequencies, and / or network slices. At step 455, the RAN network device 110-1, the core network device 110-2, or the O&M 404 determines at least one target cell, at least one target frequency, and / or at least one target network slice for the terminal device (s) 120 which transmitted the QoE analysis reports indicating QoE degradation.

[0123] For Opt1, at step 455, the RAN network device 110-1 makes a handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision for terminal device 120 who reported the QoE analysis result with a “bad” service experience level, to allow the terminal device 120 to carry out a handover, re-establishment, or a re-selection procedure to a target cell, frequency, and / or network slice with the QoE probe analysis result with a “good” service experience level.

[0124] For Opt2, at step 455, the core network device 110-2 makes a handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision for terminal device 120 who reported the QoE analysis result with a “bad” service experience level, to allow the terminal device 120 to carry out a handover, re-establishment, or a re-selection procedure to a target cell,  frequency, and / or network slice with the QoE probe analysis result with a “good” service experience level.

[0125] For Opt3: the O&M 404 makes a handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision for terminal device 120 who reported the QoE analysis result with a “bad” service experience level, to allow the terminal device 120 to carry out a handover, re-establishment, or a re-selection procedure to a target cell, frequency, and / or network slice with the QoE probe analysis result with a “good” service experience level.

[0126] FIG. 4B illustrates another example signaling 400b between a terminal device (s) 120 (including an application layer 401, a NAS layer 402, and an AS layer 403) , a RAN network device 110-1 (e.g., a gNB) , a core network device 110-2 and an O&M 404 in accordance with some examples of the present disclosure.

[0127] At step 405b: the O&M 404 sends QoE perception measurement configuration (measured metrics, corresponding thresholds) to the core network device 110-2. More than one threshold can be included to indicate different experience range, e.g., “good” , “bad” and others.

[0128] In the QoE analysis configuration phase, at step 410b, the core network device 110-2 sends a NAS message to the NAS layer 402 of the terminal device 120 for a QoE analysis configuration container (which may include the parameters to be measured or monitored for at least one service or traffic flow, and corresponding QoE thresholds) . Although one terminal device 120 is illustrated in FIG. 4B, the terminal devices 120 may include UEs that are capable of carrying out the QoE analysis and reporting.

[0129] At step 415b, the NAS layer 402 of the terminal device 120 sends the QoE analysis configuration container (including the configured parameters and the corresponding QoE thresholds) to the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120, e.g., via an AT command.

[0130] As an example, at step 420b, the core network device 110-2 may also sends the QoE analysis configuration container (including the configured parameters and the corresponding QoE thresholds) to the RAN network device 110-1 which serves the terminal device 120.

[0131] At step 425b, in response to the QoE analysis configuration container, the RAN network device 110-1 sends an RRC message, e.g., RRCReconfiguration message to  configure associated access stratum measurement to the terminal device 120. As an example, one flag may be indicated in the RRC message to bundle the access stratum measurement configuration with the QoE analysis configuration. Further, the access stratum measurement can be reported with a flag indicating that it is associated with the QoE analysis report as well.

[0132] After step 425b, if the monitored service (s) or traffic flow (s) has been started or is on-going, the QoE analysis is carried out in the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120. As an example, if configured, the associated access stratum measurement may also be carried out in the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120.

[0133] In QoE analysis and reporting phase, with the service (s) or traffic flow (s) ongoing, in case of the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120 detects that the measured value of a metric falls to satisfy a QoE threshold associated with the e service (s) or traffic flow (s) , the application layer 401 may determine that the QoE degrades and produces a QoE analysis result. At step 430b, the application layer 401 of the terminal device 120 sends the QoE analysis result (indicating a failure in satisfying the associated QoE threshold or a service experience level of “bad” ) to the NAS layer 402 of the terminal device 120, e.g., via an AT command.

[0134] At step 435b, the NAS layer 402 of the terminal device 120 sends an indication to the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120 to trigger associated access stratum measurement reporting.

[0135] At step 440b, the AS layer 403 of the terminal device 120 sends the associated access stratum measurement results (if configured) to the RAN network device 110-1, e.g., via an RRC measurement report message.

[0136] At step 445b, if needed (e.g., to support the step 440, Opt2 where the core network device 110-2 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 to carry out QoE probe analysis in some cells, frequencies, or slice to detect its performance) , the RAN network device 110-1 sends information indicating the recommended cells, frequencies, and / or network slices for the terminal device 120 (based on the access stratum measurements) to the core network device 110-2.

[0137] At step 450b, the NAS layer 402 of the terminal device 120 sends a QoE analysis report (indicating a failure in satisfying the associated QoE threshold) to the core network  device 110-2, e.g., via a NAS message.

[0138] At step 455b: if needed (e.g., to support the step 440 Opt3 where the O&M 404 selects one or more capable terminal devices 130 to carry out QoE probe analysis in some cells, frequencies, or slice to detect its performance) , the core network device 110-2 sends information indicating the recommended cells, frequencies, and / or network slices for the terminal device 120 (which may be received from the RAN network device 110-1) to the O&M 404.

[0139] There are three options in the probe UE configuration and QoE probe analysis reporting phase, and the three options are the same as those described with reference to the signaling flow 400a of FIG. 4A, which are not repeated here for brevity. Further, the handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision phase may also be the same or similar to the one described with reference to the signaling flow 400a of FIG. 4A, which is also not repeated here for brevity.

[0140] The example signaling flows of the present disclosure provide mechanisms to achieve experience improvement in UE side after the UE reports the QoE analysis to the network device, which can increase UE attraction to implement the QoE analysis feature.

[0141] In some examples, the QoE analysis results, including the QoE probe analysis reports may be utilized in the core network to further improve QoE of the terminal devices 120. Such examples will be described in detail below with reference to FIGS. 5A-5B.

[0142] FIG. 5A illustrates an example signaling flow 500 of QoE analysis usage in the CN according to some examples of the present disclosure. The signaling flow 500 involves a RAN network device 110-1, and a core network device 501 (which may be the same core network device 110-2 or a different core network device) . In some examples, the core network device 501 may include a session management (SM) entity, an access management (AM) entity, or both in the core network. Although a single RAN network device is illustrated in FIG. 5A, there will be more than one RAN network device involved in the signaling flow 500.

[0143] In the signaling flow 501, the RAN network device 110-1 transmits (505) at least one QoE report regarding at least one service provided to one or more terminal devices 120. As an example, a RAN network device 110-1 may transmit the QoE report for a corresponding terminal device 120 periodically, in response to a trigger from the core  network device 501, and / or in response to a satisfaction of a configured condition for reporting the QoE report. A QoE report may include information on a QoE probe analysis carried out by at least one terminal device 130, which is used to determine at least one target cell, at least one target frequency and / or at least one target network slice for the one or more terminal devices 120. As an example, the changes in the QoE and the corresponding measured values may be reported to the core network which can be consumed by either AM or SM or both the functions.

[0144] The core network device 501 receives (510) , from at least one RAN network device 110-1, the QoE report (s) . In response to the receiving of the QoE report (s) , the core network device 501 determines (515) one or more policy rules in association with the at least one service and / or the at least one terminal device 120. The one or more policy rules may include one or more rules for charging and / or one or more rules for service control.

[0145] As an example, the one or more policy rules comprise one or more rules for session management related policy, one or more rules for non-session management related policy and / or one or more rules for network slice related policy. The policy rules may include other rules that can have impacts on the service experience of the terminal devices 120.

[0146] As an example, the core network device 501 may determine a need for QoE analytics information in association with the at least one service and / or the at least one first terminal device, and request the QoE analytics information from a network data analytics function and / or a QoE server. As an example, the at least one QoE report further comprises an indication of a failure in satisfying at least one QoE threshold associated with the at least one service. The core network device 501 may transmit the indication to the network data analytics function and / or to the QoE server for analytics purposes.

[0147] As an example, the core network device 501 (e.g., the SM) may communicate with the User Plane Function (UPF) to fetch the usage reports from the UPF for the instant point of time (if any) . Additionally, the core network device 501 (e.g., the SM) may provide the QoE report (or the indication of a failure in satisfying at least one QoE threshold associated with the at least one service) to the Policy and Charging Function (PCF) and / or the Charging Function (CHF) , with a corresponding trigger about the change of QoE. As an example, the core network device 501 (e.g., the SM) may also provide abstraction of the QoE analysis report (as applicable) to the PCF and / or CHF.

[0148] The core network device 501 transmits (525) the one or more policy rules to the at  least one RAN network device 110-1. As an example, the core network device 501 may receive new grants from the CHF and new policies from the PCF. The core network device 501 may communicate with the RAN network device 110-1 (and the UPF) about the determined policy rules.

[0149] As an example, the core network device 501 (e.g., the SM) may determine the usage counters at the UPF based on a change of the one or more QoE probe analysis results from the one or more historical QoE probe analysis reports carried by the terminal device 130 and reported from the RAN network device 110-1. The core network device 501 (e.g., the SM) may cause the fetch and reset of usage counter values from the UPF and report to the PCF and CHF as applicable based on the trigger registered in the SM.

[0150] As an example, the core network device 501 may initiate and determine the local policies based on similar actions as mentioned above for other terminal devices in the same area as that of the terminal device (s) 130 which carried out the QoE probe analysis.

[0151] FIG. 5B illustrates a further example signaling flow 502 of QoE analysis usage in the core network according to some examples of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 5B, the signaling flow 502 involves the RAN network device 110-1, an AM and / or SM 503 (which may be considered as an example of the core network device 501 in FIG. 5A) , an UPF 504, and a PCF and / or CHF 506.

[0152] At step 510, the RAN network device 110-1 reports the QoE report (s) regarding at least one service / traffic flow to the AM and / or SM 503. The QoE reporting may include the changes in the QoE and the corresponding values are reported to the core network which can be consumed by either AM or SM or both the functions.

[0153] At step 515, optionally, the SM 503 may fetch the usage reports from the UPF 504 for that instance point of time.

[0154] At step 520, the AM and / or SM 503 (with the fetched usage reports) provide the corresponding QoE probe analysis report to the PCF and / or CHF 506, together with a corresponding trigger of change of QoE.

[0155] At step 525, the PCF may take policy decisions based on this trigger and the corresponding values of QoE. Accordingly, the determined policy rules may be reported back to the AM and / or SM 503. The AM and / or SM 503 may pass these rules to the RAN network device 110-1, and to the UPF 504.

[0156] It should be noted that, based on the operator policy, the PCF or CHF may implement further policy decisions for the other UEs that are in the same area reported as part of the QoE probe analysis report (s) .

[0157] In the examples of the present disclosure, the RAN or the CN may take a handover, re-establishment, or re-selection decision to a different cell, frequency, and / or network slice for a terminal device reporting QoE degradation. In the examples of the present disclosure, the RAN or the CN may alternatively or additionally change the policy to downgrade (or upgrade if the QoE probe analysis changes to indicate a high service experience level) if it is not able to change the terminal device to another cell, frequency or network slice. In the examples of the present disclosure, the RAN or the CN may alternatively or additionally change the reporting counters to different subscriber plans corresponding to different service experience levels (e.g., good, bad, average) accordingly. In the examples of the present disclosure, the RAN or the CN may alternatively or additionally initiate a de-registration for the terminal device reporting QoE degradation.

[0158] In the examples of the present disclosure, the PCF may use the QoE probe analysis reporting information to determine policy rules on the terminal device (and the neighboring terminal devices) and based on the analytical co-related inputs that could control the future registrations. In the examples of the present disclosure, the CHF, while it incentivizes the participating UE subscription, could also implement differential charging for the volume consumption for various experience levels (good, bad, etc. ) as indicated in the QoE probe analysis reports and accordingly the operator could measure the outcome of the negotiated service level agreement (SLA) of the UE subscription. It would be appreciated that there will be various other QoE enhancements or improvements that can be carried out in the RAN and / or the CN to the terminal devices reporting the QoE degradation.
