[0002] The subject of the present invention is a waste container designed, in particular, for families with an infant, which is intended primarily for used disposable diapers, but also other hygienic waste. In addition, the subject of the invention is the method of operation of the waste container.
[0003] Many solutions of diaper containers are known from the state of the art, for example from the international patent description WO2006126879A2 entitled "Device for placing and containing soiled objects therein" with the priority date of 23.05.2005. NL 1029093 a device is known for placing and storing objects in it, in particular soiled objects such as soiled diapers, consisting of a container and a cover, wherein the cover has a hollow tubular element that is open at least at one end in which a body capable to the reciprocating movement is located. Said cover is rotatable relative to the container between a first position in which the object can be placed in the tubular element from the outside, and a second position in which the body can move downwards in the tubular element due to force of gravity to push the object into the container. A special feature is that the device consists of a sleeve made of flexible material disposed within a tubular member, the sleeve being closed near its first end, the body being connected to the sleeve near the closed end of the sleeve, and the sleeve being attached to the tubular member along its circumferential edge near its second end.

[0007] The existing solutions of diaper containers have a more or less extensive structure, which is associated with the economy of production, simplicity of operation or the release of unwanted odours from the inside of the container.

Pressing the rotating drum results in a more effective sealing of the connections, and thus a reduction in releasing unpleasant odours that are found inside. An additional advantage of the solution is the use of a material (plastic) with elastic properties for the rotating drum, which increases the tightness of the connection between the surface of the rotating drum and the circumferential ring. In addition, it is advantageous to use a resilient material (plastic) to make the cover in which the rotatable drum is located, which increases the tightness of the connection between the drum's abutment surface and the edge of the upper cut-out of the cover. Similarly, the use of an elastic material (plastic) to make the cap increases the tightness of connections between it and other elements of the waste container, thus increasing the effectiveness of adhesion. An additional advantage of the developed waste container is also the ability to easily keep the container clean due an additional insert placed in the drum chamber, which can be easily removed and washed. It is also preferable to use a material with bactericidal properties for the insert, e.g. a mixture of plastic with silver. Therefore, the solution allows to maintain hygiene and prevents the growth of bacteria, which is extremely important, especially since the commonly developed waste container is used in living quarters where infants are also present.

[0034] Example 1. Waste container
[0035] Waste container, in particular for used diapers or other hygienic waste. The waste container consists of a tank 1 preferably of rectangular cross-section with rounded corners or a circle. The tank 1 is a solid that has a base, side walls, but there is no upper plane. The tank 1 has a cap 2 instead of its upper plane, and via that cap 2 it engages with the cover 3. It is preferable that the tank 1 is releasably connected to the cap 2, e.g. by means of latches or catches, it can be connected inseparably, so that the cap 2 is an integral part of the tank 1. On the other hand, the cover 3 is connected to the tank 1 and the cap 2 in a detachable manner by means of catches or latches. The contour of the cap 2 and the lower surface of the cover 3 correspond to the contour of the upper surface of the tank 1.
[0036] A rotatable drum 4 is located inside the cover 3. A generally cylindrical chamber 5 is located in the solid of the drum 4. The chamber 5 has a circular inlet / outlet opening 6 on one side. Waste is temporarily placed in the chamber 5. The circular inlet / outlet opening 6 fits in shape and size to the edge 7 of the upper cut-out 8 constituting the opening in the cover 3 and to the surface of the circumferential ring 9 defining the inlet opening 10 in the cap 2.
[0037] The cover 3 on its two opposite lateral and essentially vertical walls has lateral cut-outs 11, preferably circular in shape. On the other hand, the drum 4 preferably has a ball shape or is similar in shape to a ball with two flattenings 12 on both sides. On the sides of the drum 4, preferably on both sides of the drum 4 and on the flattening 12 (if any), at least one catch 13 and at least one protrusion 14 are located (preferably on each side of the drum 4, two catches 13 and two splines 14). It is preferable that the catch 13 and the spline 14 have a cylindrical shape. Wherein each catch 13 and each spline 14 can be connected to the rotatable drum 4 via a roll-shaped protrusion 15 of a slight height.
[0038] The cover 3 is applied to the drum 4 in such a way that each catch 13 and each spline 14 located on one side of the drum 4 is arranged inside the respective lateral cut-out 11 of the cover 3. Through the lateral cut-outs 11 of the cover 3, via the catch(es) 13 and spline(s) 14, the drum 4 is connected with a handle 16 responsible for rotating the drum 4 inside the cover 3. The handle 16 is connected to the drum 4 by means of fixings 17 located on the inside of the handle 16 fitted in shape and connecting to the corresponding catch(es) 13 and spline(s)14 of the drum 4. Most preferably, the handle 16 and the drum 4 are snapped together using intermediate components. Preferably, the handle 16 has a shape resembling an inverted letter "U" and then, with the appropriate positioning, the handle 16 allows the waste container to be moved. When an independent component is used to transfer the waste container, the handle 16 may also take the form of a knob that is located on at least one side of the cover 3 or handle or lever.
[0039] The wall of the lateral cut-out 11 of the cover 3 forms a rotatable surface 18 constituting substantially an inner surface of the sleeve with a circle cross-section, wherein the rotatable surface 18 may be contained in the thickness of the cover 3, or its height may be larger and protrude from the outside or from the inside of the cover 3. The rotatable surface 18 locally contacts the side surface, i.e. the contact surface 19 of the spline 14. The cooperation of the rotatable surface 18 with the contact surfaces 19 allows and stabilizes the rotation of the drum 4 about the axis of rotation inside the cover 3, which rotation is carried out by means of the handle 16. It is possible to properly position the drum 4 with the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 upwards (loading waste), the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 downwards (removing waste from the chamber 5 into the tank 1), or an intermediate positioning allowing the waste container to be moved when the handle is adapted for it. The rotatable surface 18 in its upper part has a pressure head 20, which is an inward deformation of the rotatable surface 18 directed downwardly, to the interior of the rotatable surface 18. In contrast, opposite to the pressure head 20, in the lower part of the rotatable surface 18, there is a recess 21 in the form of a downward concavity constituting a deformation in the form of a cavity of the rotatable surface 18. The pressure head 20 and the recess 21 cooperate with a respective contact surface 19 being a lateral surface of the spline 14. In the final phases of rotation of the drum 4 in the cover 3 using the handle 16, when the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 of the drum 4 is located at the edge 7 of the upper cut-out 8 of the cover 3 or the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 is located at the circumferential ring 9 of the inlet opening 10 of the cap 2, the pressure head 20 located in the upper part of the rotating surface 18 presses against the contact surface 19 of the spline 14 pushing the spline 14 down, and thus the drum 4 downwards relative to the cover 3. At the same time, the contact surface 19 of the second opposite spline 14 moves to the recess 21, making it easier to move the drum 4 downwards relative to the cover 3. A portion of the mating surface 22 constituting the surface of the drum 4 is substantially adjacent to the surface of the circumferential ring 9 regardless of the position of the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 of the rotating drum 4. However, when the drum 4 is moved downwards relative to the cover 3, it causes an additional pressing of the mating surface 22 against the surface of the circumferential ring 9 of the cap 2, respectively a portion of the mating surface 22a opposite the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 or a portion of the mating surface 22b at the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 of the rotating drum 4. Moving the drum 4 down relative to the cover 3 and pressing the mating surface 22a and 22b to the surface of the circumferential ring 9 results in an increase in the effectiveness of the seal, and thus in a reduction of the undesirable odours released from the container at the two most common positions of the drum 4, i.e. with the inlet / outlet opening 6 upwards and the inlet / outlet opening 6 downwards.

[0044] A waste container (in particular for used diapers, but also for other hygienic waste), in which a removable insert 25, preferably cylindrical in shape without a top surface, is arranged in a chamber 5 of a rotatable drum 4. The shape of the insert 25 corresponds to the shape of the chamber 5 of the rotatable drum 4. Removing the insert 25 from the chamber 5 allows it to be effortlessly washed, which makes it easier to keep the interior of the chamber 5 clean. In addition, the insert 25 can be made of a mixture of plastic with silver, therefore it has bactericidal properties. On its lateral outer surface the insert 25 has a catching lock 26a cooperating with a catching lock 26b of the drum chamber. Wherein one of the catching locks 26a or 26b is convex and the other is respectively concave with respect to the adjacent surface thereof. The catching lock 26a and 26b may be circumferential or punctual. The catching lock 26a of the insert 25 together with the catching lock 26b of the chamber 5 protect the insert 25 against unwanted removal of the insert 25 from the chamber 5 of the drum 4 while using the container.

[0048] A waste container according to example 1 or 2 or 3 or 4, wherein the successive steps include: a) assembling the waste container by connecting the tank 1, the cap 2 (if it is a detachable element) and the cover 3 connected to the drum 4 connecting with a handle 16; b) by means of a handle 16 connected to the drum 4 by a spline(s) 14 and preferably a catch(es) 13, the drum 4 located in the cover 3 rotates around its axis of rotation, with each contact surface 19 of the spline 14 moving on the wall of the lateral cut-out 11 of the cover 3, i.e. on the rotatable surface 18 stabilizing the rotation and position of the drum 4 with respect to the cover 3. In the final phase of the rotation, when the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 located in the drum 4 coincides with the upper cut-out 8 of the cover 3, the rotating surface 18 arcing upwards and in the final phase of this rotation, the upper contact surface 19 of one spline 14 collides with the pressure head 20 causing the rotatable drum 4 to move downwards relative to the cover 3 and pressing the mating surface 22a against the circumferential ring 9 of the cap 2. At the same time, the opposite contact surface 19 of the next spline 14 arcs down the rotatable surface 18 and in the final phase of rotation, it slides into the recess 21 located in the lower part of the rotatable surface 18, facilitating the downward movement of the rotatable drum 4. Such positioning of the drum 4 with the chamber 5 opens the waste container and allows the waste (diaper) to be thrown into the chamber 5; c) using the handle 16 connected to the drum 4 through the spline(s) 14 and preferably the catch(es) 13, the drum 4 located in the cover 3 rotates about its axis of rotation in the opposite direction to step b), with each contact surface 19 of the spline 14 moving on the wall of the lateral cut-out 11 of the cover 3, i.e. on the rotatable surface 18 stabilizing the rotation and the position of the drum 4 relative to the cover 3. In the final phase of the rotation, when the inlet / outlet opening 6 of the chamber 5 located in the drum 4 coincides with the inlet opening 10 of the cap 2, arcing upwards of the rotatable surface 18 and in the final phase of this rotation located in the upper position, the contact surface 19 of one spline 14 collides with the pressure head 20 causing the rotatable drum 4 to move downwards relative to the cover 3 and pressing the mating surface 22b against the circumferential ring 9 of the cap 2. At the same time, the opposite contact surface 19 of the next spline 14 arcs down the rotating surface 18 and, in the final rotation phase, slides into the recess 21 located in the lower part of the rotating surface 18, facilitating the downward movement of the rotatable drum 4. This positioning of the drum 4 with the chamber 5 allows the waste (diaper) to fall out automatically from the chamber 5 to the tank 1; d) steps b) and c) are repeated until the tank 1 is full, wherein rotation of the drum 4 by means of the handle 16 is facilitated at a time when the pressure head 20 does not press against any contact surface 19, as then the pressure of the mating surface 22 against the surface of the peripheral ring 9 of the cap 2 is reduced.

[0050] Method of operation of the waste container, as indicated in example 5, wherein after applying the cap 2 to the tank 1, a bag 24 is inserted into the inside of the tank 1 through the inlet opening 10 of the cap 2, such that the upper outer lateral surface 23 of the bag 24 abuts the surface of the circumferential ring 9 of the cap 2. Then, through the cap 2, the tank 1 is connected to the cover 3 so that the mating surface 22 of the drum 4 abuts the surface of the circumferential ring 9 of the cap 2 through the upper lateral surface 23 of the bag 24 on the side of the inlet opening of the bag 24. When the waste (diaper) automatically falls out of the chamber 5, it falls into the bag 24 located in the tank 1. A waste container consisting of a tank (1), a cap (2) constituting an integral or detachable part of the tank (1) and a cover (3) with a rotatable drum (4) located therein containing a waste chamber (5) and a handle (16) connected with the drum (4) allowing the drum (4) to rotate inside the cover (3), characterized in that the cover (3) has a lateral cut-out (11), the wall of which has a rotatable surface (18) which is substantially the inner surface of a sleeve, while the drum (4) has at least one spline (14) on its lateral surface at the axis of rotation with a convex contact surface (19) which is adjacent to the rotatable surface (18), and in the upper part the rotatable surface (18) has a pressure head (20).
2. The waste container according to claim 1, characterized in that opposite to the pressure head (20), in the lower part of the rotatable surface (18), the rotatable surface (18) has a recess (21).
3. The waste container according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the portion of a mating surface (22) of the rotatable substantially spherical drum (4) adheres with a varying pressure to the inner surface of a peripheral ring (9).
4. The waste container according to claim 3, characterized in that between the mating surface (22) of the rotatable drum (4) and the inner surface of the circumferential ring (9) there is a lateral surface (23) of a bag (24) at its opening.
5. The waste container according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the drum (4) is made of flexible plastic or the cover (3) is made of flexible plastic or the cap (2) is made of flexible plastic.
6. The waste container according to claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the edge (7) of the upper cut-out (8) of the cover (3) adheres to the mating surface (22) of the drum(4).
7. The waste container according to claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the splines (14) with the contact surfaces (19) join together to form one integral element with the convex contact surfaces (19) also preferably connected to at least one catch(13) of the drum (4).

The waste container consisting of the tank (1), the cap (2) constituting an integral or detachable part of the tank (1), and the cover (3) with a rotatable drum (4) locatedtherein containing a waste chamber (5), and the handle (16) connected to the drum(4) enabling the drum (4) to rotate inside the cover (3), characterised in that there is an insert (25) in the chamber (5) of the rotatable drum (4).
9. The waste container according to claim 8, characterized in that the insert (25) has a concave or convex catching lock (26a) on its lateral external surface and the chamber(5) on its inner surface has a convex or concave catching lock (26b), respectively.
10. The waste container according to claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the catching lock (26a) and (26b) is either circumferential or punctual.
11. The waste container according to claim 8 or 9 or 10, characterized in that the insert(25) is made of metal or plastic that contains silver.
12. The method of operation of the waste container consisting of a tank (1), a cap (2) constituting an integral or detachable part of the tank (1) and a cover (3) with a rotatable drum (4) located therein containing a waste chamber (5) and a handle (16) connected to the drum (4) enabling the drum (4) to rotate inside the cover (3), characterised in that a) the waste container is assembled by connecting the tank (1), the cap (2), if the cap (1) is a detachable element, and the cover (3) connected with the drum (4) engaging the handle (16); b) by means of the handle (16) connected to the drum (4) via at least one spline(14) and preferably at least one catch (13), the drum (4) located in the cover(3) rotates about its axis of rotation, wherein each contact surface (19) of the spline (14) slides along the wall of a lateral cut-out (11) of the cover (3), i.e. on a rotatable surface (18), while in the final phase of rotation of the drum (4), when an inlet / outlet opening (6) of the chamber (5) located in the drum (4) coincides with an upper cut-out (8) of the cover (3), arcing towards the top of the rotatable surface (18) and in the final phase of this rotation, the contact surface (19) of the spline (14) located in the upper position collides with a pressure head (20) causing the rotatable drum (4) to move downwards relative to the cover (3) and pressing a mating surface (22a) against the surface of a circumferential ring (9) of the cap (2); c) by means of the handle (16) connected to the drum (4) by at least one spline(14) and preferably at least one catch (13), the drum (4) located in the cover(3) rotates about its axis of rotation in the opposite direction to step b), wherein each contact surface (19) of the spline (14) slides across the wall of the cut-out (11) of the cover (3), i.e. on the rotating surface (18), while in the final phase of rotation the drum (4), when the inlet / outlet opening (6) of the chamber (5) located in the drum (4) coincides with the inlet opening (10) of the cap (2), arcing upwards of the rotating surface (18) and in the final phase of this rotation the contact surface (19) of the spline (14) located in the upper position collides with the pressure head (20) causing the rotating drum (4) to move downwards with respect to the cover (3) and pressing the mating surface (22b) against the surface of the circumferential ring (9) of the cap (2); d) step b) and c) are repeated alternately.
13. The method of operation of the waste container according to claim 12, characterized in that at the same time, when the pressure head (20) presses on the contact surface(19) of the spline (14) located next to it, another opposite contact surface (19) of the spline (14) slides down into the recess (21) located in the lower part of the rotatable surface (18).

The method of operation of the waste container according to claim 12 or 13, characterized in that before installing the cover (3), a bag (24) is inserted into the tank (1) through the inlet opening (10) of the cap (2) so that the upper outer lateral surface (23) of the bag (24) adheres to the surface of the circumferential ring (9) of the cap (2), then the tank (1) is connected with the cover (3) through the cap (2) such that the mating surface (22) of the drum (4) adheres to the surface of the circumferential ring (9) of the cap (2) through the upper lateral surface (23) of the bag (24) from the side of the inlet opening of the bag (24).
15. The method of operation of the waste container according to claims 12 to 14, characterized in that the container is transferred when the handle (16) is positioned substantially vertical.
