[0001] The present invention relates to elevators and lift systems for industrial and domestic purposes. The present invention further relates to door panels for elevators and lifts. The present invention additionally relates to method of bonding sandwiched laminated glass into reinforced door panel. The present invention particularly relates to reinforced elevator door panel with sandwiched laminated glass and method thereof.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] In modern day buildings, both industrial and domestic buildings, elevators and lifts have become a common means of transporting people and / or things from one floor to another in the buildings. Elevators comprise of an elevator car that is installed on the hoist way inside the building vertically by a drive of the hoisting machine.
[0003] Conventional, elevator system comprises an elevator door mechanism configured at the entrance portion of the elevator car and a landing door mechanism at the landing door of the elevator system. Both the door mechanisms, elevator door and the landing door, are configured with door shoes on the guide groove of each guide rail embedded at the lower surface of the elevator car and at the floor of the landing floor of the building enabling the door to slide through for opening and closing of the elevator car and providing access to the users to enter the elevator car. Such elevator cars comprising of elevator door mechanisms, constituting, but not limited to, centre opening or telescoping opening of door panels. Such door panels generally are configured with a sandwiched laminated glass at the centre portion for visibility, light and aesthetic purposes. The sandwiched laminated glass is fixed on to the door frame using an adhesive material, such as for example, glue, tape or bond.
[0004] Conventional methods for bonding the sandwiched laminated glass with reinforced doors are well-known. In one embodiment of prior art, CN201678348U teaches a sandwich door panel of an elevator, which consists of a front wall, a rear wall and packing arranged between the front wall and the rear wall, wherein the front wall, the packing and the rear wall are respectively fixed by binding agents; the packing is an incombustible material or flame-retardant material; and meanwhile, outwards-protruded edges on the left side and the right side of the front wall are embedded into bent inner grooves on the left side and the right side of the right wall and are fixed by mechanical methods (welding, riveting and screwing). The sandwich door panel of the elevator is easy to manufacture, not only has a certain rigid requirement and safety performance, but also avoids the defect that the door panel is deformed by adopting a welding mode and is the door panel of the elevator with low cost, simple practicability, safety and reliability.
[0005] In another embodiment of prior art, CN102143903A teaches a lightweight glass plate comprising a first glass plate, a second glass plate and an intermediate layer that connects the first and the second plates together. The lightweight glass plate further comprises at least one connection element that allows the lightweight glass plate to be connected to an abutting component. The connection element is embedded into the intermediate layer in an edge area of the lightweight glass plate and the intermediate layer extends to surfaces located between the connection element and the glass plates. The lightweight glass plate is preferably used in the preparation of elevator doors and / or cabin walls. The lightweight glass plates are lightweight and can transfer large forces.
[0006] FIG. 1 illustrates a horizontal cross-sectional view of conventional prior art door panel that is well-known in the state-of-the-art. The sandwiched glass panel (1) is attached to the base panel (4) by means of adhesive tape (3). The base panel (4) fixed with the back cover (5) by means of adhesive. The back cover (5), base panel (4) and cladding (6) are attached together by means of both adhesive and fasteners. The top side of sandwiched glass (1) is attached with rubber beading (2) by means of adhesive tape (3) and the other side of rubber beading is attached to cladding (6) by means of adhesive tape (3).
[0007] FIG. 2 illustrates a vertical cross-sectional view of an exemplary embodiment of a conventional reinforced elevator door with sandwiched laminated glass. The conventional elevator door in FIG. 1 depicts the vertical cross-sectional view of conventional door panel specifically the fixation of header and sandwiched glass on both top and bottom of door panel. The top side of sandwiched glass panel (1) is attached to rubber beading (2) by means of adhesive tape (3). Further another end of rubber beading (2) is attached to the header (7) by means of adhesive tape. The header (7) and base panel (4) are welded together and on top of the base panel (4) cladding (6) is fixed by means of adhesive tape. Such a method for bonding the sandwiched glass with the door frame can only withstand the impact such as static force up to 345N [complying with the IS 14665:2001]. With the emphasis on improved safety for the passengers on an elevator, the IS 17900:2022 standards require the elevator doors to hold any external impact such as static force up to 1000N & shock impact up to 45kg which acts upon the door and adhesive glue (9) by preventing the misalignment and disengagement of sandwiched glass (1) from the door panel.
