Abstract
Description
AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE, AUDIO CONTROL METHOD AND AUDIO SYSTEMTECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a technical field of audio processing, and more particularly, to an audio output device, an audio control method and an audio system.BACKGROUND
[0002] Currently, an audio system comprising a plurality of audio output devices is widely used. When the plurality of audio output devices in the audio system are not connected with each other into the audio system, they may play a respective audio signal independently from each other, and once connected with each other via wired or wireless communication network into the audio system, the plurality of audio output devices may be used to play the same audio signal at the same time. In order to ensure the best audio experience, synchronizing the volumes between the plurality of audio output devices is necessary, that is, volumes of the plurality of audio output devices should be set to a same volume value. In addition, after synchronizing the volumes between the plurality of audio output devices, the volume adjustment at each audio output device may also need to be allowed, so as to add more customized settings.
[0003] Therefore, there is a need for a solution for facilitating synchronization of the volumes between the plurality of audio output devices when they are connected into an audio system, and for adjusting the volume value at each audio output device after being synchronized.SUMMARY

[0007] According to at least one aspect of the present disclosure, a method for audio control is provided, and the method is performed by an audio output device and comprises: playing an audio signal based on a first volume value associated with a volume setting; and transmitting, in response to the audio output device and one or more second audio output devices being connected into an audio system, the audio signal and volume indication information to the one or more second audio output devices, wherein the volume indication information indicates that a volume of the audio output device is set to the first volume value.
[0008] According to at least one aspect of the present disclosure, acomputer-readable storage medium on which computer programs or instructions are stored, the computer programs or instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform the method as described above.
[0009] In the present disclosure, when synchronizing volumes among a plurality of audio output devices when they are connected into the audio system, e.g., each entering a party mode in response to the user input, a master audio output device may transmit the audio signal and the volume indication information to other secondary audio output devices, so that all audio output devices may play the audio signal with the same volume value. [0022] FIG. 1 schematically illustrates a diagram of an audio system comprising a plurality of audio output devices, according to at least one embodiment of present disclosure.
[0023] As shown in FIG. 1, audio system 100 comprises a plurality of audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) (which are also collectively referred to as audio output device (s) 110 or generically as audio output device 110) . The plurality of audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) may have the same audio parameter specifications, or have different audio parameter specifications, e.g., these audio output devices may have different models, different types, different manufacturers, etc. or combination thereof.
[0024] Audio output device (s) 110 may include one or more devices capable of outputting sound. Audio output device (s) 110 may include, without limitation, portable speakers, bone conduction speakers, shoulder worn and shoulder mounted headphones, glasses mounted speakers, around-neck speakers, Bluetooth, true wireless stereo (TWS) headphones or other wireless headphones, and / or the like. In some embodiments, audio output devices 110 may be coupled to one or more external computing devices 120 (which are also collectively referred to as computing device (s) 120 or generically as computing device 120) . Computing device 120 may include, without limitation, one or more processing units 210, I / O device interface 220, network interface 230, interconnect 240 (e.g., a bus) , storage 250, and memory 260. Memory 260 may store various applications, e.g., for managing audio output device (s) 110. Processing unit (s) 210 and memory 260 can be implemented in any technically feasible fashion. For example, and without limitation, in various embodiments, any combination of processing unit (s) 210 and memory 260 can be implemented as a stand-alone chip or as part of a more comprehensive solution that is implemented as an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a system-on-a-chip (SoC) , and / or the like. Processing unit (s) 210, I / O device interface 220, network interface 230, storage 250, and memory 260 can be communicatively coupled to each other via interconnect 240. I / O device interface 220 may be communicatively coupled to input devices 60 (e.g., keyboard, touch panel, mouse, etc. ) and output devices 70 (e.g., display, etc. ) . In some embodiments, input devices 60 include one or more devices capable of providing input. Examples of input devices 60 include, without limitation, a touch-sensitive surface (e.g., a touchpad) , a microphone, a touch-sensitive screen, buttons, knobs, dials, a keyboard, a pointing device (e.g., a mouse, a stylus) , and / or the like. Output devices 70 include one or more devices for providing output. Examples of output devices 70 include, without limitation, a display device, haptic devices, and / or the like. Examples of display devices include, without limitation, LCD displays, LED displays, OLED displays, AMOLED displays, touch-sensitive displays, transparent displays, projection systems, and / or the like. Additionally, input devices 60 and / or output devices 70 may include devices capable of both receiving input and providing output, such as a touch-sensitive display, and / or the like. In some embodiments, audio output device (s) 110 can be coupled to computing device 120 via I / O device interface 220 and / or network interface 230 by wire or wirelessly in any technically feasible manner (e.g., Universal Serial Bus (USB) , Bluetooth, ad hoc Wi-Fi) .
[0025] In various embodiments, audio output device (s) 110 may also include computing, communications, and / or networking capability. For example, even if not shown, each audio output device 110 can also include one or more processing units similar to processing unit (s) 210, memory and / or storage, and a network interface similar to network interface 230, and optionally an I / O device interface similar to network interface 220. An audio output device 110 can communicatively couple with one or more other audio output devices 110 and / or with one or more computing devices 20 via the network interface and / or I / O device interface within the audio output device 110.
[0026] Each audio output device 110 of the plurality of audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) may acquire an audio signal from one or more audio sources 30 and may play the audio signal based on its current volume setting. Each audio output device 110 may also acquire an audio signal corresponding to a media content item from computing device 120 which acquires the media content item from media content service (s) 50 (e.g., as an audio source) via network 40.
[0027] When audio output devices 110 are not connected (e.g., communicatively coupled) into audio system 100, that is, audio output devices 110 are not engaged in the audio output device network or are independent of each other, and may receive respective audio signals and play the respective audio signals, respectively. The audio output devices 110, when independent of each other, may have different output volume settings. The output volume settings may be maintained at each audio output device once being set, and may be changed in response to other volume adjustment command (e.g., volume indication information from another device (e.g., audio output device, or a computing device, etc. ) ) or user input. The output volume setting of each audio output device may be set under the control of a corresponding computing device or its own processing unit (s) , e.g., associated with user input. For example, as mentioned before, I / O device interface in computing device 120 or the audio output device 110 may be connected with input and / or output devices, so that a user may interact with the computing device or the audio output device via the I / O device interface for setting the output volume setting of each audio output device.
[0028] In various embodiments, multiple audio output devices 110 may communicatively couple with each other and / or computing device 120 to form a coordinated media or audio system. Audio output device network 130 is typically a wireless network such as a Wi-Fi network, an ad hoc Wi-Fi network, a Bluetooth network, and / or the like. In the coordinated audio system, the multiple audio output devices 110 may output the audio signal received from an audio source 30 or from computing device 120. Audio output devices 110 may output the same audio signal in a synchronized or near-synchronized manner. For example, while computing device 120 or audio source 30 is communicatively coupled to audio output device (s) 110, computing device 120 or audio source 30 may send an audio signal to audio output devices 110 to be synchronously output by audio output devices 110.
[0029] In some embodiments, computing device 120 transmits the data corresponding to the audio signal to a first audio output device 110-1, and then the first audio output device 110-1 transmits the data to the other audio output device (s) 110-2, 110-3, …. In some embodiments, computing device 120 transmits the data corresponding to the audio signal to two or more of the audio output device (s) 110. Alternatively, one or more of audio output devices 110 may receive the audio signal directly from audio source 30, and transmit the audio signal to the other audio output device (s) 110.
[0030] In some embodiments, “audio output devices 110 are connected into audio system” herein may include the case where audio output devices 110 may communicate information or data with each other without establishing a real communication connection, e.g., via broadcast technology, as long as when an audio output device broadcasts the audio signal and volume indication information as described later, the other audio output devices 110 may receive the broadcasted audio signal and volume indication information. This case may also be regarded as that audio output devices 110 form the audio output device network.
[0031] For example, when audio output devices 110 are connected (e.g., communicatively coupled) into audio system 100, as mentioned above, an audio output device 110 in audio system 100 may acquire the audio signal from audio source 30 or from computing device 120, and transmit the audio signal to the other audio output devices, for all the audio output devices in audio system 100 to play the audio signal at the same time. The audio output device which acquires and transmits the audio signal may be referred to as the master audio output device ( “master device” for brevity) . In addition, the master device may also send the volume indication information to the other audio output devices in the audio system, for all the audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) in the audio system to synchronize the volume values. Further, when all the audio output devices are playing the audio signal together, the volume change at the master device should also be synchronized to secondary devices.
[0032] The master device may be any one of audio output devices in the audio system, and the master device may change its role to a secondary device according to actual needs. Similarly, the secondary device may also change its role to a master device. In this way, different audio output devices may impact each other when they are playing the audio signal together. For example, the user may select or change the master device through the computing device via the I / O device interface, and the master device may establish a communication connection with the computing device. Once another audio output device is selected as the master device at a later time, the old master device may cut off the communication connection with the computing device.
[0033] When audio output devices 110 are connected into the audio system, audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) which may have different output volume settings (corresponding to different volume values) will play the same audio signal at the same time, and as mentioned before, to ensure the best audio experience, synchronizing the volume values among audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) is necessary, that is, the volume values of audio output devices (110-1, 110-2, 110-3, …) should be synchronized to a same volume value.
[0034] Based on the above description, according to at least one aspect of present disclosure, an audio output device (e.g., the audio output device 110 as shown in FIG. 1) is provided.
[0035] FIG. 2 schematically illustrates a block structural diagram of an audio output device, according to at least one embodiment of present disclosure.
[0036] The audio output device 200 may include computing, communications, and / or networking capability. For example, as shown in FIG. 2, the audio output device 200 may also include one or more processing units (e.g., processors) 282 and one or more memories 284, etc. The audio output device 200 may communicate with one or more other audio output devices (not shown) via a network interface 286. In addition, the audio output device 200 may also include an audio output module 288 (e.g., sound generation circuit) for output sound according to the control of the processing unit (s) 282. Components in the audio output device 200 may be connected with each other via the interconnect 290 (e.g., bus) . The audio output device 200 may include other components in addition to those shown in FIG. 2, e.g., I / O device interface 292 for coupling with I / O devices to implement user interaction. In various embodiments, the audio output device 200 and multiple audio output devices communicatively couple with each other and / or the computing device (s) to form a coordinated media or audio system, and / or transmit and receive data or information with each other using any communication technology.
[0037] In some other embodiments, at the time when performing the synchronization, when the audio output device 200 is a master device of a plurality of audio output devices to be synchronized, the one or more processing units 282 of the audio output device 200 may be configured to perform computer programs or instructions stored on the one or more memories, so as to perform the following operations: playing an audio signal based on a first volume value associated with a volume setting; and transmitting, in response to the audio output device and one or more second audio output devices being connected into an audio system, the audio signal and volume indication information to the one or more second audio output devices, where the volume indication information indicates that a volume of the audio output device is set to the first volume value. In present application, the volume value may be represented by a percentage (e.g., 20%, 40%... 100%) or numeral value (e.g., 1, 2, …, 100) indicating the volume level, and the maximum volume value corresponds to maximum output decibel or maximum output power.
[0038] In present application, it is assumed that the audio output devices connected into the audio system after synchronization will not change. However, in practical application, one or more audio output devices may quit the audio system and / or one or more new audio output devices may join the audio system, but the volume control solution of the present application is applicable to new audio systems at any time.
[0039] For example, the master device 200 may be communicatively connected with a computing device 202 (e.g., a mobile phone) , and may acquire the audio signal from the computing device or any audio source. In addition, the user may also set the volume of the master device 200 to the first volume value through the computing device 202, so the master device 200 may acquire the volume setting from the computing device 202, so that it may play the audio signal based on the first volume value. The computing device 202 and the master device 200 always keep synchronized, that is, if the volume is set or adjusted at one of the computing device 202 and the master device 200, the set or changed volume is also reflected at the other one of the computing device 202 and the master device 200.
[0040] In addition, when the master device 200 is set to a synchronous playing mode, e.g., in response to a user input (e.g., a user presses or touches a button on the master device) , it means that the audio signal and volume value of the master device 200 should be synchronized to other audio output devices if any. Similarly, some other audio output devices (the one or more second audio output devices) each may also be set to a synchronous playing mode, e.g., in response to a user input, which means that each of these other audio output devices may receive the audio signal and volume value of the master device 200. For example, when entering the synchronous playing mode, the wireless communication function of each audio output device is activated, so data and information can be communicated between the audio output devices.
[0041] In an example, the master device 200 in the synchronous playing mode may broadcast the audio signal and the volume indication information, and the one or more second audio output devices in the synchronous playing mode may receive the broadcasted audio signal and the volume indication information, and play the audio signal according to the volume indication information.
[0042] In addition, after synchronizing the master device 200 and the one or more second audio output devices, the volume of the master device 200 may be further adjusted from the initially synchronized first volume value, and the adjusted volume value of the master device 200 may be further synchronized to the one or more second audio output devices.
[0043] Thus, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the master device 200 to: adjust, during playing the audio signal based on the first volume value and in response to a user input associated with a volume adjustment instruction or the volume adjustment instruction received from a computing device, the volume of the audio output device from the first volume value to a second volume value; and transmit volume adjustment information to the one or more second audio output devices, where the volume adjustment information includes a changed volume ratio of the second volume value relative to the first volume value.
[0044] For example, the user may input to the computing device via the input device interface of the computing device to indicate how the volume value is desired to be changed, for example, increased or decreased by 2 (e.g. volume value range is 0 to 20) , and the computing device may generate the volume adjustment instruction for transmission to the master device 200. For another example, the user may input directly to the master device 200 via the input device interface of the master device to indicate how the volume value is desired to be changed. In response to the user input or the volume adjustment instruction, the master device 200 may adjust the volume from the current volume value (e.g., the first volume value) to the second volume value (i.e., the adjusted volume value of the master device) .
[0045] In addition, considering the changed volume value of the master device 200 should be synchronized to the one or more second audio output devices while some second audio output devices may be at a different volume value different from the initially synchronized first volume value (e.g., volume value may be adjusted at each second audio output device in response to the user input for the second audio output device, so the second audio output device may be individually playing the audio signal with the changed volume value) , so the changed volume value of the master device is not suitable for direct transmission to the second output devices, and the changed volume ratio of the second volume value relative to the first volume value can reflect the change extent, which is more suitable for transmission to the second output devices. In this case, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the master device 200 to: determine the changed volume ratio based on the first volume value and a changed volume value of the second volume value relative to the first volume value. The changed volume ratio may be included in the volume adjustment information for transmission to the one or more second audio output devices, e.g., the master device may broadcast the volume adjustment information.
[0046] Usually, the user may continuously increase or decrease the volume value of the master device through the user input to the computing device or to the master device itself, so the master device may change the volume value of the master device continuously, and the volume adjustment information including respective changed volume ratio is continuously determined and transmitted to the one or more second audio output devices. For example, the volume of the master device may change from the initially synchronized first volume value to the second volume value (corresponding to a first changed volume ratio) , and then change from the second volume value to a third volume value (corresponding to a second changed volume ratio) , and so on. That is, the volume adjustment through input to the computing device or the master device may control volumes of all the audio output devices, and may continuously adjust the volumes of the one or more second audio output devices by continuously transmitting changed volume ratio from the master device to the one or more second audio output devices.
[0047] In some embodiments, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the master device 200 to: adjust, in response to a user input associated with a mute instruction or receiving the mute instruction from a computing device, the volume of the audio output device to a volume value of zero, and prohibit transmitting indication information indicating the volume value of zero to the one or more second audio output devices. That is, if the master device is mute, it will not output sound but will not affect other audio output devices to output sound, and the other audio output devices may keep playing the audio signal.
[0048] As mentioned above, the master device 200 may change its role to a secondary device, so the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the master device 200 to cut off the communication connection between the audio output device and the computing device and serve as a secondary device. In this case, when the old master device 200 (now secondary device) is playing the audio signal based on a current volume value (which may be the initially synchronized first volume value or other previously adjusted volume value) , the volume of the old master device 200 may be adjusted by the user input for the old master device 200 or volume adjust information from a new master device. Therefore, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the master device 200 to: receive volume adjustment information from a new master device of the one or more second audio output devices, wherein the volume adjustment information includes a changed volume ratio at the new master device; adjust the volume of the audio output device from a current volume value to an adjusted volume value based on the volume adjustment information; and play the audio signal based on the adjusted volume value. The adjusted volume value is calculated based on the changed volume ratio and the current volume value.
[0049] In some other embodiments, at the time when performing the synchronization, when the audio output device 200 is not a master device, i.e., a secondary device, the one or more processing units 282 of the audio output device 200 may be configured to perform the computer programs or instructions stored on the one or more memories, so as to perform the following operations: receiving, in response to the audio output device and one or more second audio output devices being connected into an audio system, an audio signal and volume indication information from a master device of the one or more second audio output devices, where the volume indication information indicates that a volume of the master device is set to a first volume value; and setting, based on the volume indication information, a volume of the audio output device for playing the audio signal.
[0050] The secondary device herein may represent the audio output device, which when in the synchronous playing mode, is capable of receiving audio signal and volume indication information from the master device. After receiving the audio signal and volume indication information from the master device, the secondary device may set the volume of the audio output device for playing the audio signal based on the volume indication information. For example, the secondary device may set the volume of the audio output device to the first volume value, as the initially synchronized volume value.
[0051] However, for a same volume value, the sound effect of audio output devices with different output power values may be different. For example, if the first volume value (the volume value to be synchronized) is a value of 90 (maximum value 100) , and when the volume value of a secondary device currently with a small output power value changes from a relatively small value (e.g., 25) to the value of 90 suddenly, the audio experience may be expected to be acceptable due the small output power value, while when the volume value of another secondary device currently with a large output power value changes from the relatively small value (e.g., 25) to the value of 90 suddenly, the audio experience may be expected to lead to very scary audio effect due the large output power value, which will bring unpleasant and unacceptable listening experience for the user.
[0052] Therefore, an output volume threshold is introduced at each secondary device. For example, when setting the volume of the audio output device, the computer programs or instructions further cause the one or more processing units 282 of the secondary device 200 to: set the volume of the audio output device to an output volume threshold in response to the first volume value being greater than the output volume threshold; and set the volume of the audio output device to the first volume value in response to the first volume value being less than or equal to the output volume threshold.
[0053] Optionally, the output volume threshold may be represented in a percentage (50%, 60%, etc. ) or absolute numeral value (10, 12, etc. ) , and may be defined based on one or more of: the device size, rated / maximum output power, and initial synchronized volume value, ambient volume, etc. Different audio output devices may have different output volume thresholds. In some examples, the output volume threshold for each audio output device may be defined based on a desired decibel value (e.g., 80dB) , that is, the output volume threshold for the audio output device may be the volume value at which the audio output device outputs the sound with the desired decibel value.
[0054] In this way, for the secondary device which receives the volume indication information, because a safety volume value (output volume threshold) is defined, once the indicated first volume value to be synchronized is larger than the safety volume value, the output volume value of the secondary device may be limited to the safety volume value, so the sudden change from a volume value smaller than the safety volume value to the safety volume value may be acceptable and the overall audio volume is balanced and safe for listening even if the secondary device is of a large output power value, so that the audio effect and listening experience of audio output devices for the user may be improved, when synchronizing volumes among the plurality of audio output devices when they are connected into the audio system.
[0055] In addition, as mentioned above, after synchronization, the volume value of the master device may be further adjusted, and volume adjustment information may be transmitted to the secondary device. Therefore, accordingly, the computer programs or instructions further cause the one or more processing units 282 of the secondary device to: receive, from the master device and during playing the audio signal based on the set volume value, volume adjustment information including a changed volume ratio at the master device relative to the first volume value; adjust the volume of the audio output device from the set volume value to a second volume value based on the volume adjustment information; and play the audio signal based on the second volume value.
[0056] For example, after synchronization, when the secondary device is playing the audio signal with the set volume value (e.g., the first volume value or the output volume threshold) , once the volume adjustment information is received from the master device, the secondary device will accordingly adjust the set volume value based on the changed volume ratio, e.g., the adjusted (second) volume value of the secondary device may be (1+Y%) *A, where Y%indicates the received changed volume ratio and A is the set volume value at the secondary device.
[0057] Further, in addition to the output volume threshold being used when initially synchronizing all the audio output devices, the output volume threshold may also be considered after synchronization. The computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the secondary device to: take, in response to the second volume value being greater than an output volume threshold, the output volume threshold as the second volume value, and play the audio signal based on the output volume threshold. Alternatively, the secondary device may also play the audio signal based on the second volume value regardless of the output volume threshold.
[0058] In some embodiments, as mentioned above, the volume adjustment may be continuously performed at the master device, so the volume adjustment information including the changed volume ratio at the master device may be continuously received at the secondary device. In this case, the computer programs or instructions further cause the one or more processing units 282 of the secondary device to: receive, from the master device and during playing the audio signal based on the second volume value, second volume adjustment information including a second changed volume ratio at the master device; and adjust the volume of the audio output device from the second volume value to a third volume value based on the volume adjustment information, and play the audio signal based on the third volume value. The third volume value is calculated based on the second changed volume ratio and the second volume value.
[0059] In some embodiments, after synchronization, the volume value of the secondary device may be further adjusted based on user input. That is, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the secondary device to: adjust, during playing the audio signal based on the set volume value and in response to a user input associated with a volume adjustment instruction, the volume of the audio output device from the set volume value to the second volume value; and play the audio signal based on the second volume value. In this case, the user may adjust the volume value of the secondary device as needed, and the secondary device may play the audio signal based on the second volume value regardless of the output volume threshold. When the volume value of the secondary device is adjusted, it will not affect the playing of the other audio output devices, i.e., the user input for a certain secondary device will only adjust the volume value of the certain secondary device.
[0060] In addition, similarly, if the volume value of a secondary device has already been adjusted based on the user input from the set volume value to a fourth volume value, and second volume adjustment information is received from the master device, the volume value of the secondary device may be further adjusted. The computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the secondary device to: adjust, during playing the audio signal based on the fourth volume value and in response to receiving second volume adjustment information from the master device, the fourth volume value to a fifth volume value based on the second volume adjustment information, and playing the audio signal based on the fifth volume value, where the second volume adjustment information includes a second changed volume ratio at the master device (relative to a volume value before the latest adjustment at the master device) . The fifth volume value is calculated based on the second changed volume ratio and the fourth volume value.
[0061] In some embodiments, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the secondary device 200 to: adjust, in response to a user input associated with a mute instruction, the volume of the audio output device to a volume value of zero, and prohibit transmitting indication information indicating the volume value of zero to the one or more second audio output devices. That is, if the secondary device is mute, it will not output sound but will not affect other audio output devices to output sound, and the other audio output devices may keep playing the audio signal.
[0062] As mentioned above, the secondary device 200 may change its role to a master device, so the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the secondary device 200 to: establish the communication connection with the computing device and serve as a master device. In this case, as described above with reference to the master device, when the old secondary device 200 (now master device) is playing the audio signal based on a current volume value (which may be the initially synchronized first volume value or other adjusted volume value) , the volume of the new master device 200 may be adjusted by the user input or volume adjust instruction from the computing device, and the change should be synchronized to other audio output devices. Therefore, the computer programs or instructions are executed to further cause the master device 200 to: adjust, during playing the audio signal based on a current volume value and in response to a user input associated with a volume adjustment instruction or the volume adjustment instruction received from the computing device, the volume of the audio output device from the current volume value to an adjusted volume value; play the audio signal based on the adjusted volume value; and transmit volume adjustment information to the one or more second audio output devices as secondary devices. The volume adjustment information includes a changed volume ratio at the audio output device relative to the current volume value.
[0063] It can be seen that, based on the audio output device described with reference to FIG. 2, when synchronizing volumes among a plurality of audio output devices when they are connected into the audio system, e.g., each entering a party mode in response to the user input, a master device may transmit the audio signal and the volume indication information to secondary audio output devices, so that all audio output devices may play the audio signal with the same volume value. In addition, after synchronization of all audio output devices, the volume values of all audio output devices may be further adjusted from the master device and the volume value of each audio output device may be further adjusted based on user input. Further, for the audio output device which receives the volume indication information indicating the target volume value to be synchronized, it may set the volume value according to the volume indication information, and optionally a safety volume value (output volume threshold) may be ensured, so that the audio effect and listening experience of audio output devices for the user may be improved.
[0064] FIG. 3 to FIG. 6 illustrates a party application scenario for multiple audio output devices as shown in FIG. 2
[0065] FIG. 3 schematically illustrates an example process when party is started and audio output devices are to be synchronized.
[0066] As shown in diagram (a) in FIG. 3, audio output devices A and B are stand alone speakers for example. Speaker A is playing music.
[0067] As shown in diagram (b) in FIG. 3, speaker A and speaker B are connected in to an audio system and enter the synchronous playing mode in response to the user input, that is, speaker A and speaker B join as a party.
[0068] As shown in diagram (c) in FIG. 3, speaker A transmits volume indication information (e.g., first volume value 10) to speaker B with the music, for example, speaker A broadcasts the volume indication information. Speakers in the same party (speaker A, speaker B and other speakers not shown) play the same music with the same volume.
[0069] FIG. 4 schematically illustrates an example process based on the output volume threshold when party is started and audio output devices are to be synchronized.
[0070] As shown in diagram (a) in FIG. 4, audio output devices A, B and C are stand alone speakers with different output power values for example. Speaker A is playing music.
[0071] As shown in diagram (b) in FIG. 4, speaker A, speaker B and speaker C are connected in to an audio system and enter the synchronous playing mode in response to the user input, that is, speaker A, speaker B and speaker C join as a party.
[0072] As shown in diagram (c) in FIG. 4, speaker A transmits volume indication information (e.g., first volume value 16) to speaker B and speaker C, and speaker B plays the music with the first volume value because its output volume threshold is greater than the first volume value 16, while speaker C plays the music with the output volume threshold because its output volume threshold is smaller than the first volume value 16. Optionally, the output volume threshold may be applied only when the speakers are synchronized for the first time.
[0073] FIG. 5 schematically illustrates an example process of volume control during the party.
[0074] As shown in diagram (a) in FIG. 5, speaker A, speaker B and speaker C are playing the music together. Speaker A, and speaker B and speaker C may have a same volume value. Alternatively, speaker B or speaker C may have different volume values from speaker A due to the output volume threshold or adjustment based on user input.
[0075] The volume value of each of speakers B and C may be adjusted in response to the user input for the speaker. The volume value of speaker A may be adjusted in response to the user input or the volume adjustment instruction from the computing device. Further, if a speaker is muted by a user input, the speaker will not output sound, while the other speakers continue to output sound.
[0076] As shown in diagram (b) in FIG. 5, while speaker A, speaker B and speaker C are playing the music together, once the volume value of speaker B is adjusted by the user input, only the volume value of speaker B which receives the user input is adjusted.
[0077] As shown in diagram (c) in FIG. 5, while speaker A, speaker B and speaker C are playing the music together, once the volume value of speaker A is adjusted in response to the user input or the volume adjustment instruction, volume values of speakers B and C may change accordingly, e.g., based on volume adjustment information including the changed volume ratio. Speaker A may further transmit other volume adjustment information including the changed volume ratio if the volume value of speaker A is further adjusted, then the volume values of speakers B and C may change accordingly.
[0078] FIG. 6 schematically illustrates an example process of volume control after the speaker C has been adjusted during the party.
[0079] As shown in diagram (a) in FIG. 6, speaker A, speaker B and speaker C are playing the music together. Speaker C may have a different volume value from speaker A due to the output volume threshold or adjustment based on user input.
[0080] As shown in diagram (b) in FIG. 6, once the volume value of speaker A is adjusted in response to the user input or the volume adjustment instruction, volume values of speakers B and C may change accordingly, e.g., based on volume adjustment information including the changed volume ratio.
[0081] According to another aspect of present disclosure, a method for audio control is provided.
[0082] FIG. 7 schematically illustrates a flowchart of the method for audio control according to at least one embodiment of present disclosure. The method may be performed by a master audio output device described with reference to FIG. 2.
[0083] As shown in FIG. 7, in step 710, an audio signal is played based on a first volume value associated with a volume setting.
[0084] In step 720, the audio signal and volume indication information are transmitted to one or more second audio output devices, in response to the audio output device and the one or more second audio output devices being connected into an audio system, wherein the volume indication information indicates that a volume of the audio output device is set to the first volume value.
[0085] For example, the volume setting may be acquired from a computing device or locally, and the audio signal may also be acquired from the computing device. The computing device and the master device always keep synchronized, that is, if the volume is set or adjusted at one of the computing device and the master device, the set or changed volume is also reflected at the other one of the computing device and the master device.
[0086] In addition, after synchronizing the master device and the one or more second audio output devices, the method may further comprise: adjusting, during playing the audio signal based on the first volume value and in response to a user input associated with a volume adjustment instruction or the volume adjustment instruction received from a computing device, the volume of the audio output device from the first volume value to a second volume value; and transmitting volume adjustment information to the one or more second audio output devices, wherein the volume adjustment information includes a changed volume ratio of the second volume value relative to the first volume value.
[0087] For example, the user may input to the computing device via the input device interface of the computing device to indicate how the volume value is desired to be changed, and the computing device may generate the volume adjustment instruction for transmission to the master device. For another example, the user may input directly to the master device via the input device interface of the master device to indicate how the volume value is desired to be changed. In response to the user input or the volume adjustment instruction, the master device may adjust the volume from the current volume value (e.g., the first volume value) to the second volume value (i.e., the adjusted volume value of the master device) .
[0088] In addition, the method further comprises: determining the changed volume ratio based on the first volume value and a changed volume value of the second volume value relative to the first volume value, and including the changed volume ratio in the volume adjustment information for transmission to the one or more second audio output devices, e.g., the master device may broadcast the volume adjustment information.
[0089] In some embodiments, the method may further comprise: adjusting, in response to a user input associated with a mute instruction or receiving the mute instruction from a computing device, the volume of the audio output device to a volume value of zero, and prohibiting transmitting indication information indicating the volume value of zero to the one or more second audio output devices. That is, if the master device is mute, it will not output sound but will not affect other audio output devices to output sound, and the other audio output devices may keep playing the audio signal.
[0090] More details of each step of the method 700 are similar to the description of FIG. 2 through FIG. 6, therefore, details are omitted here.
[0091] FIG. 8 schematically illustrates a flowchart of the method for audio control according to at least one embodiment of present disclosure. The method may be performed by a secondary audio output device described with reference to FIG. 2.
[0092] As shown in FIG. 8, in step 810, an audio signal and volume indication information are received from a master device of one or more second audio output devices in response to the audio output device and the one or more second audio output devices being connected into an audio system, wherein the volume indication information indicates that a volume of the master device is set to a first volume value.
[0093] For example, the audio signal and volume indication information may be separately transmitted or transmitted in combination from the master device.
[0094] In step 820, a volume of the audio output device for playing the audio signal is set based on the volume indication information.
[0095] For example, when setting the volume of the audio output device, the volume of the audio output device is set to an output volume threshold in response to the first volume value being greater than the output volume threshold; and the volume of the audio output device is set to the first volume value in response to the first volume value being less than or equal to the output volume threshold.
[0096] In addition, after synchronization, the volume of the audio output device may be further adjusted, e.g., based on the volume adjustment information from the master device or based on user input. Optionally, the method may further comprise: receiving, from the master device and during playing the audio signal based on the set volume value, volume adjustment information including a changed volume ratio at the master device relative to the first volume value; and adjusting the volume of the audio output device from the set volume value to a second volume value based on the volume adjustment information, and play the audio signal based on the second volume value. Alternatively, the method may further comprise: adjusting, during playing the audio signal based on the set volume value and in response to a user input associated with a volume adjustment instruction, the volume of the audio output device from the set volume value to a second volume value.
[0097] Therefore, after the volume of the audio output device is set to the second volume value, the audio output device may be further adjusted based on another piece of volume adjustment information. Optionally, the method may further comprise: receiving, from the master device and during playing the audio signal based on the second volume value, second volume adjustment information including a second changed volume ratio at the master device; and adjusting the volume of the audio output device from the second volume value to a third volume value based on the volume adjustment information, and play the audio signal based on the third volume value. The third volume value is calculated based on the second changed volume ratio and the second volume value.
[0098] In some embodiments, the method may further comprise: adjusting, in response to a user input associated with a mute instruction, the volume of the audio output device to a volume value of zero, and prohibiting transmitting indication information indicating the volume value of zero to the one or more second audio output devices. That is, if the secondary device is mute, it will not output sound but will not affect other audio output devices to output sound, and the other audio output devices may keep playing the audio signal.
[0099] More details of each step of the method 800 are similar to the description of FIG. 2 through FIG. 6, therefore, details are omitted here.
[0100] It can be seen that, based on the audio control method described with reference to FIG. 7 through FIG. 8, when synchronizing volumes among a plurality of audio output devices when they are connected into the audio system, e.g., each entering a party mode in response to the user input, a master device may transmit the audio signal and the volume indication information to secondary audio output devices, so that all audio output devices may play the audio signal with the same volume value.
[0101] According to another aspect of present disclosure, an audio system is provided. The audio system may include a first audio output device and one or more second audio output devices. The first audio output device may be the master device as described with reference to FIG. 2 through FIG. 6.
