Abstract
Description
Terminal and communication method
[0001] The present invention relates to a terminal and a communication method in a communication system.
[0002] 3GPP (registered trademark) (3rd Generation Partnership Project) is currently studying a wireless communication system called 5G or NR (New Radio) (hereinafter, the wireless communication system will be referred to as "5G" or "NR") in order to achieve a larger system capacity, a higher data transmission speed, and a lower latency in wireless sections. Various wireless technologies are being studied for 5G to meet the requirements of achieving a throughput of 10 Gbps or more while keeping latency in wireless sections to 1 ms or less.
[0003] In NR, a network architecture including 5GC (5G Core Network) corresponding to EPC (Evolved Packet Core), which is the core network in the network architecture of LTE (Long Term Evolution), and NG-RAN (Next Generation - Radio Access Network) corresponding to E-UTRAN (Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network), which is the RAN (Radio Access Network) in the network architecture of LTE, is being considered (for example, Non-Patent Document 1).
[0004] In addition, in wireless communication systems, HAPS (High Altitude Platform Station) communication is used when it is not possible to build facilities on land due to environmental protection considerations, and when used to reinforce coastal communications, it is used to reinforce maritime communications, mainly by people involved in the fishing and maritime industries.
[0005] 3GPP TS 23.501 V18.6.0 (2024-06) 3GPP TS 22.261 V18.12.0 (2023-12) 3GPP TS 38.331 V18.2.0 (2023-06)
[0006] In wireless communication systems, if regular subscribers use HAPS communications when they flock to the coast for an event such as a fireworks display, congestion will occur, and the intended users, those involved in fishing and shipping, will be unable to use HAPS communications.
[0007] Normally, UAC (Unified Access Control) is used to avoid congestion, but existing specifications do not allow UAC to be used to restrict access (congestion control) based on subscriber attributes regarding the use of HAPS communications.
[0008] The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and has as its object to perform access control according to the attributes of subscribers regarding the use of specific wireless communication.
[0009] According to the disclosed technology, a terminal is provided that has a receiving unit that receives at least one of first notification information transmitted from a first base station deployed on the ground and second notification information transmitted from a second base station that forms coverage via a coastal HAPS (High Altitude Platform Station), and a control unit that recognizes the terminal as a maritime specific terminal and decides to operate as a maritime presence preferred terminal when the terminal does not receive the first notification information but receives the second notification information, or when the terminal receives the first notification information and the second notification information and the location information of the terminal indicates that the terminal is maritime presence.
[0010] According to the disclosed technology, it is possible to restrict access to specific wireless communication services according to the attributes of the subscriber.

[0012] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that the embodiment described below is an example, and the embodiment to which the present invention is applied is not limited to the following embodiment.
[0013] In the operation of the wireless communication system according to the embodiment of the present invention, existing technology is used as appropriate. However, the existing technology is, for example, the existing LTE, but is not limited to the existing LTE. Furthermore, the term "LTE" used in this specification has a broad meaning including LTE-Advanced, and systems subsequent to LTE-Advanced (e.g., NR), or wireless LAN (Local Area Network), unless otherwise specified.
[0014] Furthermore, in the embodiments of the present invention, "configuring" radio parameters and the like may mean that predetermined values are pre-configured, or that radio parameters notified from the network node 30 or the terminal 20 are set.
[0015] Fig. 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a communication system. As shown in Fig. 1, the communication system is composed of a UE, which is a terminal 20, and multiple network nodes 30. Hereinafter, it is assumed that one network node 30 corresponds to each function, but multiple functions may be realized by one network node 30, or multiple network nodes 30 may realize one function. Furthermore, the "connection" described below may be a logical connection or a physical connection.
[0016] The RAN (Radio Access Network) is a network node 30 having a radio access function, which may include a base station 10, and is connected to a UE, an AMF (Access and Mobility Management Function), and a UPF (User Plane Function). The AMF is a network node 30 having functions such as terminating the RAN interface, terminating the NAS (Non-Access Stratum), registering management, connecting management, reachability management, and terminal mobility management. The UPF is a network node 30 having functions related to processing user plane data, such as a PDU (Protocol Data Unit) session point to the outside that interconnects with the DN (Data Network), packet routing and forwarding, and user plane Quality of Service (QoS) handling. The UPF and the DN constitute a network slice. In the wireless communication network according to the embodiment of the present invention, multiple network slices are constructed.
[0017] The AMF is connected to the UE, RAN, SMF (Session Management function), NSSF (Network Slice Selection Function), NEF (Network Exposure Function), NRF (Network Repository Function), UDM (Unified Data Management), AUSF (Authentication Server Function), PCF (Policy Control Function), and AF (Application Function). The AMF, SMF, NSSF, NEF, NRF, UDM, AUSF, PCF, and AF are network nodes 30 that are mutually connected via interfaces based on their respective services, Namf, Nsmf, Nnssf, Nnef, Nnrf, Nudm, Nausf, Npcf, and Naf.
[0018] The SMF is a network node 30 having functions such as session management, UE IP (Internet Protocol) address allocation and management, DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) function, ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) proxy, and roaming function. The NEF is a network node 30 having a function of notifying other NFs (Network Functions) of capabilities and events. The NSSF is a network node 30 having functions such as selecting a network slice to which a UE connects, determining an allowed NSSAI (Network Slice Selection Assistance Information), determining an NSSAI to be set, and determining an AMF set to which a UE connects. The PCF is a network node 30 having a function of controlling network policies. The AF is a network node 30 having a function of controlling application servers. The NRF is a network node 30 having a function of discovering NF instances that provide services. The UDM is a network node 30 that manages subscriber data and authentication data. The UDM is connected to a UDR (User Data Repository) that stores the data.
[0019] Fig. 2 is a diagram illustrating an example of a communication system in a roaming environment. As shown in Fig. 2, the network is composed of a UE, which is a terminal 20, and multiple network nodes 30. Hereinafter, it is assumed that one network node 30 corresponds to each function, but multiple functions may be realized by one network node 30, or multiple network nodes 30 may realize one function. Furthermore, the "connection" described below may be a logical connection or a physical connection.
[0020] The RAN is a network node 30 having a radio access function, and is connected to the UE, the AMF, and the UPF. The AMF is a network node 30 having functions such as RAN interface termination, NAS termination, registration management, connection management, reachability management, and mobility management. The UPF is a network node 30 having functions such as a PDU session point to the outside that interconnects with the DN, packet routing and forwarding, and user plane QoS handling. The UPF and the DN constitute a network slice. In the wireless communication network according to the embodiment of the present invention, multiple network slices are constructed.
[0021] The AMF is connected to the UE, RAN, SMF, NSSF, NEF, NRF, UDM, AUSF, PCF, AF, and SEPP (Security Edge Protection Proxy). The AMF, SMF, NSSF, NEF, NRF, UDM, AUSF, PCF, and AF are network nodes 30 that are interconnected via respective service-based interfaces, Namf, Nsmf, Nnssf, Nnef, Nnrf, Nudm, Nausf, Npcf, and Naf.
[0022] The SMF is a network node 30 having functions such as session management, UE IP address allocation and management, DHCP function, ARP proxy, and roaming function. The NEF is a network node 30 having a function of notifying other NFs of capabilities and events. The NSSF is a network node 30 having functions such as selecting a network slice to which a UE connects, determining an allowed NSSAI, determining a configured NSSAI, and determining an AMF set to which a UE connects. The PCF is a network node 30 having a function of controlling network policies. The AF is a network node 30 having a function of controlling application servers. The NRF is a network node 30 having a function of discovering NF instances that provide services. The SEPP is a non-transparent proxy that filters control plane messages between PLMNs (Public Land Mobile Networks). The vSEPP shown in FIG. 2 is a SEPP in the visited network, and the hSEPP is a SEPP in the home network.
[0023] As shown in Figure 2, a UE is in a roaming environment connected to a RAN and an AMF in a Visited PLMN (VPLMN). The VPLMN and a Home PLMN (HPLMN) are connected via a vSEPP and an hSEPP. The UE can communicate with a UDM in the HPLMN via the AMF in the VPLMN, for example.
[0024] (Example) A method for restricting access according to subscriber attributes regarding the use of specific wireless communication will be described.
[0025] In this embodiment, information indicating a maritime specific terminal using a HAPS (High Altitude Platform Station) is newly defined as information included in the subscriber information. When a maritime specific terminal is present at sea, it behaves as a newly defined maritime preferential terminal. A new value (4) is assigned to the maritime preferential terminal as the terminal type (access identity) value in UAC (Unified Access Control). For details of existing specifications regarding the access identity, see Non-Patent Document 2. In addition, new access restriction information (uac-BarringFactorForAI4) indicating the permission rate corresponding to the access identity value (4) is defined. For details of existing specifications regarding the permission rate, see Non-Patent Document 3.
[0026] The cell of a coastal HAPS base station, which is a base station that provides coverage via a coastal HAPS, may include in its broadcast information (SIB (System Information Block) 1) an identifier (coastal HAPS identifier) indicating that the broadcast information is from a coastal HAPS and an identifier (cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE) indicating that access by normal terminals in terrestrial coverage is restricted.
[0027] If a marine-specific terminal does not receive notification information from the cell of a normal terrestrial base station but only from the cell of a coastal HAPS base station at sea, or if the location information of the device itself indicates that it is at sea, it determines that the device is communicating at sea, i.e., that it should behave as a marine-preferential terminal.
[0028] With regard to congestion control (Unified Access Control, UAC, see Non-Patent Document 3), the offshore specific terminal operates as a normal terminal when communicating on land, not at sea, and operates as a preferential terminal in the offshore area that is given priority over normal terminals when communicating at sea.
[0029] When a normal terminal can select both the cell of a normal terrestrial base station and the cell of an offshore HAPS base station, it will connect to the cell of the normal terrestrial base station, and when it can only select the cell of an offshore HAPS base station, it will connect to the cell of an offshore HAPS base station.
[0030] Furthermore, the marine specific terminal recognizes itself as a marine specific terminal, and the normal terminal recognizes itself as a normal terminal.
[0031] The details of the processes related to cell selection and access restriction in this embodiment will be described below using sequence diagrams. Requests, responses, notifications, etc. transmitted and received in the processes described below may be referred to as messages (e.g., request messages). Furthermore, the fact that the base station 10 is deployed on land rather than on the sea may be expressed as being deployed on land.
[0032] 3 is a diagram showing an example of a first sequence diagram according to an embodiment of the present invention. The processing of each step will be described below.
[0033] S101: The normal terrestrial base station 10A transmits notification information (SIB1). The normal terminal 20A located on the ground and the maritime specific terminal 20B located on the ground receive the notification information. The notification information includes access restriction information indicating an access restriction rate of 80% (i.e., an access permission rate of 20%) for data communication by the normal terminal 20A.
[0034] Also, for example, the notification information is expressed as SIB1 (uac-BarringInfo(uac-BarringForCommon(uac-BarringPerCat(accessCategory=7, uac-barringInfoSetIndex=1))), uac-BarringInfoSetList(uac-BarringInfoSet(uac-BarringFactor=p20))).
[0035] S102: Coastal HAPS base station 10B transmits notification information (SIB1). Terrestrial-based normal terminal 20A and terrestrial-based maritime specific terminal 20B receive the notification information. The notification information includes an identifier (coastal HAPS identifier) indicating that the notification information is from the coastal HAPS, an identifier (cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE) indicating that access by terrestrial-based normal terminals is restricted, access restriction information indicating an 80% access restriction rate (i.e., an authorization rate of 20%) for data communications by normal terminal 20A, and access restriction information indicating an 80% access restriction rate (i.e., an authorization rate of 80%) for data communications by terminals with Access Identity=4 (maritime-based preferential terminals).
[0036] Furthermore, for example, the notification information is expressed as SIB1(coastal HAPS identifier, cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE, uac-BarringInfo(uac-BarringForCommon(uac-BarringPerCat(accessCategory=7, uac-barringInfoSetIndex=1))), uac-BarringInfoSetList(uac-BarringInfoSet(uac-BarringFactor=p20), uac-BarringInfoSet(uac-BarringFactorForAI4=p80))).
[0037] S103: The ordinary terminal 20A in the terrestrial area recognizes that it is an ordinary terminal in the terrestrial area (OrdinaryTN UE) based on the fact that it is an ordinary terminal and that it is in the area of a terrestrial network (TN). The ordinary terminal 20A in the terrestrial area also recognizes that it cannot connect to the cell of the base station corresponding to the identifier (cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE) indicating that access to ordinary terminals in the terrestrial area is restricted. Therefore, the ordinary terminal 20A in the terrestrial area decides to connect to the cell of the ordinary terrestrial base station as an ordinary terminal.
[0038] S104: The normal terminal 20A in the terrestrial area applies a restriction rate of 80% to connections to the normal base station 10A based on the access restriction information included in the notification information received in S101, and executes cell access.
[0039] S105: The terrestrial maritime specific terminal 20B determines to operate as a normal terminal based on the fact that it is within the terrestrial network (TN). Therefore, similar to the terrestrial specific terminal 20A in S103, the terrestrial maritime specific terminal 20B recognizes that it is a normal terminal (OrdinaryTN UE) based on the fact that it is a normal terminal and that it is within the terrestrial network (TN). Furthermore, the terrestrial maritime specific terminal 20B recognizes that it cannot connect to the cell of the base station corresponding to the identifier (cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE) indicating that access by terrestrial specific terminals is restricted.
[0040] S106: The maritime specific terminal 20B in the terrestrial area performs cell access by applying a restriction rate of 80% to connections to the normal base station 10A based on the access restriction information included in the notification information received in S101.
[0041] S107: Coastal HAPS base station 10B transmits notification information (SIB1). The offshore normal terminal 20C and offshore special terminal 20D receive the notification information. The notification information includes an identifier (coastal HAPS identifier) indicating that the notification information is from the coastal HAPS, an identifier (cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE) indicating that access by terrestrial normal terminals is restricted, information indicating an 80% access restriction rate (i.e., a 20% permission rate) for data communications by normal terminal 20A, and information indicating an 80% access restriction rate (i.e., a 20% permission rate) for data communications by terminals with Access Identity = 4 (offshore preferential terminals).
[0042] Furthermore, for example, the notification information is expressed as SIB1(coastal HAPS identifier, cellBarredOrdinaryTNUE, uac-BarringInfo(uac-BarringForCommon(uac-BarringPerCat(accessCategory=7, uac-barringInfoSetIndex=1))), uac-BarringInfoSetList(uac-BarringInfoSet(uac-BarringFactor=p20), uac-BarringInfoSet(uac-BarringFactorForAI4=p80))).
[0043] S108: The offshore ordinary terminal 20C does not receive notification information from the ordinary base station 10A, but receives notification information only from the coastal HAPS base station 10B, and therefore recognizes that it is located outside the terrestrial network (TN). Furthermore, based on the fact that it is located outside the terrestrial network (TN), the offshore ordinary terminal 20C recognizes that it is not an ordinary terminal (OrdinaryTN UE) located on the ground, and decides to connect to the coastal HAPS base station 10B as an ordinary terminal.
[0044] S109: Based on the access restriction information included in the notification information received in S107, the ordinary terminal 20C in the offshore area applies a restriction rate of 80% to connections to the coastal HAPS base station 10B and performs cell access.
[0045] S110: The maritime specific terminal 20D in its offshore area recognizes that it is located outside the terrestrial network (TN) because it does not receive notification information from the normal base station 10A but only from the coastal HAPS base station 10B. Furthermore, based on the fact that it is located outside the terrestrial network (TN), the maritime specific terminal 20D in its offshore area determines to operate as a maritime area preferential terminal (i.e., a terminal corresponding to Access Identity = 4) and determines to connect to the coastal HAPS base station 10B as a maritime area preferential terminal (i.e., a terminal corresponding to Access Identity = 4).
[0046] S111: Based on the access restriction information contained in the notification information received in S107, the offshore specific terminal 20D in the offshore area applies a restriction rate of 20% to connections to the coastal HAPS base station 10B and performs cell access.
[0047] 4 shows an example of a second sequence diagram according to an embodiment of the present invention. This sequence diagram shows the process when a maritime specific terminal 20D in its offshore area receives notification information from both a normal terrestrial base station 10A and a coastal HAPS base station 10B. The process of each step is explained below.
[0048] S201: The normal terrestrial base station 10A transmits notification information (SIB1). The maritime specific terminal 20D in the maritime area receives the notification information. The notification information is the same as the notification information described in S101 of FIG. 3.
[0049] S202: The coastal HAPS base station 10B transmits notification information (SIB1). The maritime specific terminal 20D in the maritime area receives the notification information. The notification information is the same as the notification information described in S102 of FIG. 3.
[0050] S203: Based on its own location information, the offshore specific terminal 20D recognizes that it is located outside the terrestrial network (TN) and decides to operate as an offshore preferential terminal (i.e., a terminal corresponding to Access Identity = 4).
[0051] S204: Based on the access restriction information contained in the notification information received in S202, the offshore specific terminal 20D in the offshore area applies a restriction rate of 20% to connections to the coastal HAPS base station 10B and performs cell access.
[0052] According to the above-described embodiment, access restrictions can be implemented according to the attributes of subscribers regarding the use of specific wireless communication.
