Abstract
Description
[0001] “System for assembling wall covering panels, that is, so-called boiserie.”
[0002] *****
[0003] The present invention relates to finishing work in building construction, and in particular to the covering of interior walls of a building; more specifically, it relates to a system for assembling wall covering panels, or so-called boiserie.
[0004] This type of covering for interior furnishing has been known for a long time and has recently come back into vogue for particularly sophisticated designs. Modular systems have been developed to support this type of structure, in which typically Z-shaped metal or plastic profiles are used to position the covering panels appropriately. In addition, doors can be integrated into the panel system to allow access to walk-in closets or other structures defined in the space covered by the boiserie.
[0005] A problem that is still relevant in the installation of these structures is the adaptation of the panel fixing structure to the wall to the actual inclinations of the floor and walls themselves where it is to be positioned, since the panels must all have the same inclination and be aligned with the floor, the frame must be positioned with extreme precision, and it often happens that it has to be redefined several times, inevitably lengthening the installation process and consequently also jeopardizing the quality of the assembly itself.
[0006] The aim of the present invention is therefore an assembly system capable of solving the above problems, allowing boiserie to be installed in a versatile and effective manner.
[0007] The object of the present invention is therefore an assembly system for wall covering panels, comprising a frame made of profiled elements designed to support a plurality of covering panels equipped with means for attaching them to said frame, which in turn comprises a floor profile suitable for fixing to the wall adjacent to the floor, formed with a cavity suitable for housing a second profile capable of sliding telescopically in said base profile, and provided with means for adjusting said sliding, a ceiling profile, formed identically to said floor profile, fixed to the wall adjacent to the ceiling and also telescopically coupled to a second profile, a plurality of upright profiles being provided, arranged parallel to each other and perpendicular to said floor and ceiling profiles, and intended to be coupled with the same, and said upright profiles being connected to each other by a plurality of cross profiles, perpendicular to said uprights and coupled to the same by means of connecting members.
[0008] These connecting elements in particular comprise an element connected to each end of said cross profiles, and an element positioned on the side wall of said upright profiles, the connection between said elements being provided with adjustment means; in particular, each element positioned on the side walls of said upright is provided with means for adjusting the distance between the upright and the wall.
[0009] In a preferred embodiment, said upright profiles are coupled to said ceiling profile by means of a terminal connected to the end of each upright and provided with a protruding pin suitable for coupling with a suitable groove formed on the telescopic profile coupled to said ceiling profile.
[0010] Furthermore, said uprights are coupled to said floor profile by inserting adjustment means protruding from said telescopic profile coupled to said floor profile; in particular, said adjustment means are threaded pins, cooperating with plates provided with through holes and inserted into appropriate housings formed respectively in the telescopic profile and in the floor profile.
[0011] The floor and ceiling profiles are preferably formed with a U-shaped section, with one arm, the one intended to be fixed to the wall, much longer than the other. In addition, both arms have inward-facing projections near the bottom wall, intended to cooperate with the plates associated with the adjustment means. The said telescopic profiles coupled to the floor profile and the ceiling profile are both essentially U-shaped, with the two arms fitting into the respective floor or ceiling profile, and have a cavity formed on the bottom wall suitable for cooperating with appropriate reliefs, and an arched cavity capable of coupling with a respective support profile of a series of lighting devices, such as an LED strip, as well as performing the function of supporting the boiserie panel.
[0012] The coupling elements of the cross profiles to the upright profiles comprise a first element, fixed to a groove suitably formed on the side wall of said upright, substantially parallelepiped in shape with the same crosssection as said cross profiles, and from which a flap protrudes, with a cross-section substantially equal to half of said parallelepiped, on which coupling means to said cross profile are arranged. In particular, means for adjusting the distance of said frame from the wall are provided in said parallelepiped. The cross profiles are provided at each end with means for coupling to said upright profiles, comprising an element substantially in the shape of a parallelepiped, with a cross-section substantially equal to half the cross-section of said cross profiles, and provided with a flap projecting radially from said parallelepiped, and suitable for coupling by means of appropriate fastening means to housings formed axially in said cross profiles; said parallelepiped is provided with a slot in which the coupling means with the flap protruding from the coupling element located on the upright profile are arranged and adjustable.
[0013] In another preferred embodiment, the upright profiles are formed with a substantially rectangular box section, with recesses formed on the shorter sides near the same end of said sides, and two recesses formed near the ends of the longer side opposite to that facing the recesses formed on the shorter sides. Advantageously, the upright profiles and cross profiles have the same section.
[0014] In a further embodiment, the system according to the present invention is capable of integrating push or pull interior doors and hinged cabinet systems into its support frame without modifying or altering the functionality and structural continuity of the paneling.
[0015] Advantageously, the system according to the present invention includes means for creating both convex and concave comers between the panels; these means include appropriate profiles suitable for conveniently positioning the panels to form the required corner.

[0027] Figure 12 is a cross-sectional view of a further embodiment of the system according to the present invention.
[0028] Figure 1 shows an exploded perspective view of an embodiment of the support frame used in the system according to the present invention; 1 designates the floor profile, which is fixed to the wall adjacent to the floor by means of fasteners 111 , and into which profile 2 is telescopically inserted, the position of which relative to floor profile 1 is adjusted by the cooperation between pins 102 and plates 112 housed, as described in more detail below, between profile 1 and profile 2; lighting support profile 3 is connected to profile 2. The ceiling profile T is arranged on the ceiling of the system installation area, fixed to the wall adjacent to the ceiling by means 111', and profile 2' is telescopically inserted into profile T; profiles 1 and T and 2 and 2' are identical to each other. Between floor profiles 1 and 2 and ceiling profiles T and 2', there are upright profiles 4 and cross profiles 4', which are coupled to the upright profiles 4 by means of components 5, as described in more detail below; upright profiles 4 and cross profiles 4' are identical to each other. The connecting elements 5 comprise element 105 positioned on the upright profiles 4 and element 205 positioned at each end of the cross profiles 4'.
[0029] Figure 2 shows a perspective view of detail II of figure 1. The elements 105 of the connecting member 5 are secured to the sides of the upright profile 4. Each element comprises a parallelepiped body 115 fixed to the upright 4 by means of screws 165 positioned on the flaps 155 protruding laterally from the body 115, with a thickness equal to that of the upright 4. An extension 125, substantially half the height of the body 115, extends from said body, on which a threaded cavity 145 is formed in the center of a protruding relief. A nut 135 is positioned on the body 115, the purpose of which, as explained below, is to allow control of the means for adjusting the position of the uprights with respect to the wall, not shown in this figure. At the top of the upright profile 4 is the insert 204, coupled to the upright by inserting the tang 214 into the interior of the profile itself, secured with the screw 234, and provided with the relief 224 intended to couple with the profile 2' telescopically connected to the ceiling profile 1 '.
[0030] Figure 3 shows an enlarged perspective view of detail III of figure 1 ; the same numbers correspond to the same parts. In addition to element 105, element 205 of connecting member 5 is also visible in the figure. This element 205 comprises a body 215, with a thickness substantially equal to half the thickness of the cross profile 4’ and designed to cooperate with extension 125. A slot 245 is formed in the center of the body 215, in which a screw 255 is placed, which will be inserted into the threaded groove 145 of the extension 125. The flap 225 protruding from the body 215 to cover the entire section of the 4' cross profile allows the element 205 to be fixed to the same profile by means of screws 235.
[0031] The operation of connecting element 5 is illustrated in Figure 4, in which identical parts are identified by identical numbers. As can be seen from the figure, once the coupling between element 205 and element 105 has been made by inserting screw 255 into slot 145, the position of cross member 4' can be adjusted by moving the coupling along slot 245 when the screw is tightened in the slot. Furthermore, while element 205 has substantially the same width as cross profile 4', element 105 is significantly wider, and in particular is wider by a distance equal to twice the distance of slot 245 from the edge of body 215.
[0032] Figure 5 shows a cross-sectional view of a form of the covering panel assembly system according to the present invention; the same parts are indicated by the same reference numerals. The upright profiles 4 are attached to the wall 20 in the manner described above and are connected to each other by the cross profiles 4', thanks to the connection made by the elements 105 and 205 of the connecting members 5. The frame thus created provides support for the panels 30, which have slots 31 suitable for cooperating with the snap connectors 304. These connectors comprise plates which, on one side, have pins 324 suitable for cooperating with the grooves 31 and, on the other side, have a spring 314 and a tooth relief 334 suitable for cooperating with the upright profile 4.
[0033] This profile is formed with a substantially rectangular box section 104, in which two opposing recesses 134 are formed along the two shorter sides, near one of the two longer sides, and two recesses 114 are formed along the longer side opposite to the one near the recesses 134, with a tooth-shaped protrusion 124 provided on the outward-facing side of each of the recesses 114, a tooth-like protrusion 124, suitable for cooperating with the tooth-like protrusion 334 of the snap-fit connector 304.
[0034] The cross profiles 4' have the same section as the upright profiles 4; in particular, the groove 134' (consisting of the recess 134 shown in the section of profile 4) allows the screws 235 for fixing element 205 to the respective cross profile 4' to be housed.
[0035] In addition, the pin, or prong, 155 protruding from element 105 and contacting wall 20 is adjusted in its position, which in the figure corresponds to that of maximum extension, by operating on nut 135 emerging from body 115 of element 105, which allows its adjustment. In this way, by combining the adjustment of the telescopic profile 2 with respect to the floor profile 1 , the adjustment of the inclination of the cross profiles with respect to the upright profiles, and the adjustment of the inclination of the upright profiles with respect to the wall, optimal assembly can be achieved, greatly simplifying the installation process.
[0036] Figure 6 shows a cross-section of an embodiment of the system according to the present invention; identical parts are identified by identical reference numerals. The figure illustrates the system of the invention in the configuration of a push-mounted doorjamb, i.e., designed to open from the inside of the room covered with paneling toward the outside, or toward the inside of a space opposite the paneling. The figure shows a jamb profile 6, arranged at both ends of the threshold where the door leaf 40 is positioned. The profile 6 comprises a rectangular box-shaped central body 106, from which an extension 206 branches off, also substantially rectangular and parallel to the closing plane of the door, whose structure is similar to that of the 4 upright or 4' crossbar profiles, and which has a recess 236 designed to cooperate with the snap connector 304 integral with the panel 30, thanks to the connecting means 344, in addition to the recess 246 which allows the connecting element 105 to be fixed by means of the screw means 165. Parallel to the recess 246 is a guide 216 in which the gasket 226 is placed, which rests on the panel 30.
[0037] The body 106 has, on the same side from which the extension 206 protrudes, a recess 116 in which the gasket 126 is inserted, which rests on the wall 22 of the opening in which the door is placed. The extension 306 also extends from the body 106, perpendicular to the plane of the door, which rests in the groove 32 formed in the panel 30, and from whose free end a flap 326 extends parallel to the plane of the door; between the flap 326 and the extension 306 there is a recess 316 in which the gasket 336 is housed.
[0038] The door leaf 40 is connected to the door frame by means of the hinge 42, of a known type and not described in detail below, which is partially housed in the door leaf and partially housed in the profile 6; there is also a lock 44 equipped with a cylinder 43 that cooperates with the strike plate 45, positioned in the profile 6 located at the opposite end of the door opening.
[0039] Figure 7 shows a cross-section of another variant of the system according to the present invention; the same numbers correspond to the same parts. The figure illustrates the system of the invention in the configuration of a door jamb mounted to pull, i.e. , designed to open from the inside of the room covered with paneling toward the inside, or toward the outside of a space opposite the paneling. The figure shows a door jamb profile 7, arranged at both ends of the threshold where the door leaf 50 is positioned.
[0040] Profile 7 comprises a central body with a rectangular cross-section 107, provided at one end with a groove 117, parallel to the plane of the door opening, in which the gasket 127 is placed, which rests on the wall 22 of the opening. From the opposite end of the body 107, the extension 207 protrudes, parallel to the plane of the door, which on one side allows the coupling of the profile 7 with the panel 30, thanks to the coupling of the snap connector 304 with the recess 247, and its tooth relief 257, formed on the extension 207; in addition, the guide 217 houses the gasket 227 which rests on the panel 30, while the recess 237 allows coupling, thanks to the coupling means 165, with the connecting element 105 with the cross profile 4'. An extension 307 also protrudes from the body 107, parallel to the plane of the door, and at its base there is a recess 317 in which a gasket 327 is placed, which rests on the stop 51 formed on the door leaf 50. On the same side of the body 107, i.e. the side facing the door opening, there is an extension 407, perpendicular to the plane of the door, the end of which rests on the groove 32 formed at the end of the panel 30.
[0041] The door leaf is connected to the jamb by means of a hinge 52, of a known type and not described in detail, which is partly housed in the door leaf and partly in the jamb profile 7. In addition, the door leaf is equipped with a lock 54 with a cylinder 53, which engages in a strike plate 55 located in the profile 7 positioned in the jamb opposite to the one to which the door leaf is hinged.
[0042] As can be seen from the previous description of Figures 6 and 7, the jamb profiles 6 and 7 are shaped in such a way as to allow them to cooperate with the cross profiles 4' of the system according to the present invention, thus allowing the door structures to be integrated into the support frame of the wall covering made with the assembly system according to the present invention. Figure 8 shows a longitudinal section of a panel installed on a wall using the assembly system according to the present invention; the same parts are indicated by the same reference numerals. The figure highlights the positioning and structure of floor profile 1 , which is essentially U- shaped and includes one side wall 101 that is longer than the other wall 201 ; fastening means 111 are located in the portion near the free end of wall 101 to secure profile 1 to wall 20. The bottom wall 301 of profile 1 has inwardly protruding projections 311 , designed to cooperate with the adjustment pin 102; projections 211 protrude from walls 101 and 201 , near the bottom wall, which are designed to cooperate with the plate 122, which holds the two profiles together by means of the grub screw 132 which, when tightened, raises the plate 122 up to the protrusions 211 , thus ensuring that the two profiles are firmly secured to each other.
[0043] Inside profile 1 , profile 2 is arranged so that it can slide telescopically. Profile 2 is also essentially U-shaped, and its two side walls 202 are provided, at approximately half their length, with two inwardly protruding projections designed to cooperate with plate 112, which cooperates with threaded adjustment pin 102. The profile also has an arched recess 302 suitable for connection with the curved protrusion 103 protruding from profile 3, which supports the LEDs 213 on flap 203, allowing the area below panel 30 to be illuminated, the profile 3 also provides support to the lower end of the panel 30 thanks to the same flap 203. Adjusting the relative position of profile 2 with respect to profile 1 allows, on the one hand, to compensate for the problems of inclination of the floor 60 and, on the other hand, to define the distance of the panel from the floor itself, in a range proportional to the sliding capacity of profile 2 in profile 1 .
[0044] The profile 4, which is mounted at one end, couples with the free end of the adjustment pin 102, while at the other end it connects with the profile 2' associated with the ceiling profile 1 , as already described and illustrated in figure 2, by inserting the protruding relief 224 from insert 204, which is coupled to profile 4 by means of screw 234. Figure 9 illustrates a variant of the structure shown in figure 8; the same numbers correspond to the same parts; the figure highlights the fact that the door 38 of the wardrobe rests against a cavity defined by the bottom 33 and the top 33' of the wardrobe, the bottom of which is supported by a foot 35; both elements 33, 33' are coupled respectively to the profiles 2, 2' by means of the fasteners 34, 34' inserted into the recesses 402, 402' of said profiles 2, 2'. In this case, the adjustment of the distance of door 38 from the floor will be determined by the length of foot 35. The floor and ceiling profiles fit into the bottom and top of the cabinet, ensuring continuity.
[0045] Similarly, the LED light will provide the same illumination whether it is a boiserie panel or a cabinet door. Figure 10 shows a cross-section of a variant of the assembly system according to the present invention, relating to the installation of panels around a convex right angle; in the figure, identical parts are identified by identical numbers.
[0046] Near the corner, the uprights 4 are connected to each other by means of the L-shaped profile 404, which is fixed to the two consecutive uprights by means of screws 414 that are inserted into the recesses 134 of the profiles themselves. The two consecutive panels have an edge 36 with a 45° cut; on the wall of each panel, at each edge 36, there is an element 8, also at 45°, fixed to the respective panel by means of expansion pins 108, and provided with an H-shaped cavity 208, in which a respective magnet 218 is housed. The coupling between the two facing magnets 218 allows for more effective positioning of the panels, with a significantly improved aesthetic result of the installation.
[0047] Figure 11 shows a cross-section of the variant of the assembly system according to the present invention relating to the installation of panels covering a concave right angle; here too, the same numbers correspond to the same parts. In this case, the two profiles 4 uprights arranged near the corner of the wall are also coupled by means of the L- shaped profile 504 fixed to the two uprights 4 by inserting screws 514 into the recesses 134, but the consecutive panels are assembled so that the edge 37, i.e. , the side of the panel that represents the thickness, rests against the other panel.
[0048] Finally, Figure 12 illustrates a variant of the design shown in Figure 10; the same numbers correspond to the same parts. In the figure, the connection between the ends of the two consecutive panels 30 is achieved by forming wedge-shaped recesses 39, 39', which are complementary to each other and not identical. The mutual interlocking of these two surfaces allows the two panels to be stably coupled, forming an aesthetically pleasing angle; moreover, this process is very simple compared to the parts required for the design shown in Figure 10.
[0049] The assembly system according to the present invention therefore allows the installation of wall covering panels in an extremely versatile manner that is widely adaptable to the conditions of the walls of the room in which the covering is installed. In addition, appropriate measures have been taken to integrate both push and pull hinged doors and wardrobes into the system, so that the cladding of a given environment can be efficiently planned prior to installation, relying on the modularity of the system itself.
