Description

Electronic devices and their battery selection methods

[0001] This application claims the benefit of priority to Republic of Korea Patent Application No. 10-2024-0120211, filed September 4, 2024, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.

[0002] Embodiments disclosed in this document relate to an electronic device and a method for selecting a battery thereof.

[0003] A battery swapping station is designed to accommodate and manage multiple replacement batteries and facilitate their use by users of electric vehicles, such as electric cars, electric scooters, and electric bicycles. For example, the battery swapping station can charge replacement batteries using power from an external power source and provide fully charged replacement batteries to users of electric vehicles.

[0004] Users can remove fully charged replacement batteries from a battery swap station and install them in their electric vehicle for use. Additionally, users can remove depleted replacement batteries from their electric vehicle and install them in a battery swap station for charging.

[0005] Traditionally, battery swapping stations were equipped with only one type of interchangeable battery, and thus, user characteristics and preferences were not considered when providing interchangeable batteries to users of electric vehicles. However, recently, various types of interchangeable batteries (e.g., lithium-sulfur batteries, lithium-metal batteries, silicon anode batteries, solid-state batteries, NCM batteries, LFP batteries, etc.) are being deployed at battery swapping stations. Since electric vehicle users have individual characteristics, driving patterns, and preferences, there is a need for technology that provides interchangeable batteries that reflect the characteristics and preferences of each user.
