[0051] In the example of FIG. 1, the first apparatus 110 may be a terminal device, such as UE, and the second apparatus 120 may be a network device, such as a base station serving the UE. The serving area of the network device 120 may be called a cell 102.

[0052] It is to be understood that the number of apparatuses and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of apparatuses configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional apparatuses may be located in the cell 102, and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100.

[0053] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the first apparatus 110 operating as a terminal device and the second apparatus 120 operating as a network device. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0054] In some example embodiments, if the first apparatus 110 is a terminal device and the second apparatus 120 is a network device, a link from the second apparatus 120 to the first apparatus 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , and a link from the first apparatus 110 to the second apparatus 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the second apparatus 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the first apparatus 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the first apparatus 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the second apparatus 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0055] Communications in the communication environment 100 may be implemented  according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , the sixth generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0056] SBFD is being specified as a new mode of operation in unpaired spectrum where separate set of resource blocks (RBs) within a time division duplexing (TDD) carrier are used for UL and DL transmission simultaneously. The intention is to allow more UL transmission opportunities compared to the typical DL-heavy TDD configurations used in today's TDD deployments. This brings benefits in terms of UL coverage and UL latency especially in wide area macro networks where many UEs are in power-limited conditions in the UL direction. In a communication environment, the SBFD may be employed in the communication environment 100.

[0057] FIG. 2A to FIG. 2C illustrate examples 200, 201, and 202 of duplexing modes. Currently, the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) supports two duplexing modes: Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) for paired bands (shown as example 200) and Time Division Duplexing (TDD) for unpaired bands (shown as example 201) . As shown in FIG. 2A, in FDD operation, the frequency domain resource is divided into a DL band 210, an UL band 220 and a guard band 230. UL and DL transmissions are allowed at the same time over different frequency bands which are separated by a guard band. Frequency bands are generally inflexible to change which may result in higher complexity and high cost. As shown in FIG. 2B, in TDD operation, the time domain resource is divided into DL 211 symbols / slots and UL symbols / slots 221. However, allocating a limited time duration for the UL in TDD can result in reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity.

[0058] To address these challenges, a mechanism on the evolution of duplexing operation in NR has been proposed. One of the objectives of the mechanism is to enable simultaneous DL and UL transmissions on different physical resource blocks (RBs) within an unpaired wideband NR cell (shown as example 202) . This new way of duplexing is referred to as SBFD. As shown in FIG. 2C, in SBFD operation, the time and frequency domain resource are split into a DL subband and a UL subband.

[0059] Some high-level principles on SBFD operation are as follows:

[0060] ● Simultaneous transmission and reception (on non-overlapping set of RBs) is assumed at the gNB side, while half-duplex operation is assumed the UE side. RAN1 is currently specifying UE behavior for handling collision and priorities between UL and DL channels.

[0061] ● Only one UL subband, while one or at most two DL subbands within a TDD carrier. These are commonly referred as DU (or UD) or DUD operation, respectively -see FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B.

[0062] ● A SBFD subband is defined as 1 RB or more consecutive RBs which are used for the same transmission direction (either UL or DL) .

[0063] ● UL transmissions take place within UL subband only, while DL receptions take place within DL subband (s) only.

[0064] ● SBFD-aware UEs is used to refer to UEs supporting (at least some) SBFD-related features to be standardized.

[0065] ● As baseline, it is assumed that both time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation are known to SBFD-aware UEs, while this information is not available for legacy UEs.

[0066] ● Legacy UEs are not aware of SBFD operation and thus behave in similar manner as in today's TDD system. The Rel-18 study concluded that non-SBFD aware UEs, including legacy UEs, and SBFD aware UEs can coexist in cells with SBFD operation at gNB side from RAN1 specification point of view.

[0067] FIG. 3A illustrates a schematic diagram of an example arrange of UL and DL resources for DU / UD SBFD operation. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A, the UL subband 313 and the DL subband 314 may be used for SBFD operation. FIG. 3B illustrates a  schematic diagram of an example arrange of UL and DL resources for DUD SBFD operation. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, the UL subband 323 and the DL subbands 324-1 and 324-2 may be used for SBFD operation. SBFD symbols (or slots) (for example, SBFD symbols / slots 315 in FIG. 3A, SBFD symbols / slots 315'in FIG. 3B) may refer to those symbols (or slots) where both a UL and one or more DL subbands are simultaneously available. Non-SBFD symbols (for example, DL symbols / slots 311 and 321, UL symbols / slots 312 and 322) refer to unidirectional symbols. Different time-domain sequences were discussed, e.g. DXXXU, XXXXX, or XXXXU where D, U, X refers to downlink, uplink and SBFD slots (1 slot corresponds to 14 OFDM symbols) , respectively. One or more RBs may be used as guard band between the UL and DL subbands to facilitate rejection of cross-link interference. Similarly, a guard time or period of one or more OFDM symbols may take place for the transition between different symbol / slot types.

[0068] Channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) are signals sent by the gNB to the UEs for multiple purposes: channel state acquisition, beam management, and inter-cell mobility. CSI-RS can be configured as periodic, semi-persistent, and aperiodic in the time domain. In the frequency domain, the CSI-RS pilots span over a certain bandwidth and occupy pre-defined subcarriers across that bandwidth. The CSI-RS frequency configuration was designed assuming full DL slots and therefore the applicability of the same design principle to SBFD slots is not possible. In some example embodiments, for frequency resource allocation for CSI-RS across downlink subbands for SBFD-aware UEs, it may support one contiguous CSI-RS resource allocation with non-contiguous CSI-RS resource derived by excluding frequency resources outside DL usable PRBs. CSI-RS sequence mapping may be applied to CSI-RS resources within DL usable PRBs only (effectively, this is same as the case when the CSI-RS sequence mapped to the RBs outside the DL usable PRBs are punctured) . For a contiguous CSI-RS resource which overlaps with SBFD subband boundaries, only CSI-RS frequency resources within DL usable PRBs are valid for CSI-RS reception or measurements for SBFD-aware UE. Overlapping with SBFD subband boundaries means, in other words, that the CSI-RS resource spans across different SBFD subbands types, e.g. part of the CSI-RS resource is in the DL subband and other parts is in UL subband and / or guardbands. CSI-RS sequence mapping may be applied to CSI-RS resources within DL usable PRBs only (effectively, this is same as the case when the CSI-RS sequence mapped to the RBs outside the DL usable PRBs are punctured) . For a CSI reporting subband which overlaps with at least one  PRB within DL usable PRBs and one or more PRBs outside DL usable PRBs, the CSI reporting subband includes PRB (s) within DL usable PRBs only. CSI reporting subband may correspond to the subset of the CSI-RS resources which are used to derive the corresponding CSI report. If wideband reporting is configured, the CSI reporting subband is the same as the band of the CSI-RS resource, while if subband reporting is configured, the CSI report contains different quantities associated to different subbands of the CSI-RS resource. The wideband reporting may be applied in some example embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0069] The UE may be expected to remove the UL subband from CSI-RS mapping and assign the CSI-RS resources as if the DL subbands were continuous, as it is shown in FIG. 4 a DUD configuration. The CSI-RS resources in the UL subband and guardbands are assumed not to be present, i.e. “punctured” by the gNB. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, the CSI-RS resources 410 from the actual CSI-RS resources in the UL subband and guardbands are assumed to be punctured.

[0070] FIG. 5 illustrates a signaling flow of a handover process in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 5, it assumes source and target gNBs are interconnected via the Xn interface. Source gNB decides to handover. Handover can be divided into three phases:

[0071] · Handover Preparation: The target system is prepared to receive the UE. Tar-get gNB does admission control based on slice information. If UE is admitted, tar-get gNB informs source gNB along with an RRC message that′sto be sent to the UE.

[0072] · Handover Execution: Source gNB sends handover command to UE. UE disconnects from the source gNB and connects to the target gNB. Any data that source gNB re-ceives during this period is forwarded to the target gNB. Source gNB sends SN Status Transfer message to target gNB. This relates to PDCP SN.

[0073] · Handover Completion: UE sends uplink data on target gNB. For downlink data, tar-get gNB sends Path Switch Request to AMF, which triggers UPFs to update paths to target gNB. Once AMF acknowledges that the path switch is done, target gNB informs source gNB to release UE context.

[0074] In any cellular technology (such as, 2G, 3G, 4G or 5G) , a mobility (handover) decision on whether mobile device will be handover or not is taken by base station based on measurement reports from the mobile device. There are multiple measurement items (reference signal received power (RSRP) , reference signal received quality (RSRQ) ,  signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) ) and multiple ways (periodic, event triggered) to measure the signal quality of the serving cell and neighbor cells.

[0075] A base station may allow UE to report serving cell and neighbor cell signal quality and trigger the handover with a single measurement, but in practice, it can create overload conditions due to unnecessary ping pong handovers. As a solution to avoid such a situation, a set of predefined set of measurement report mechanism to be performed by UE is proposed. A predefined measurement report type is called “Event “. The type of “event” a UE have to report is specified by RRC signaling message sent by the base station. For example, the following events have been proposed:

[0076] · Event A1 (Serving becomes better than threshold) ;

[0077] · Event A2 (Serving becomes worse than threshold) ;

[0078] · Event A3 (Neighbor becomes offset better than SpCell) ;

[0079] · Event A4 (Neighbor becomes better than threshold) ;

[0080] · Event A5 (secondary primary cell (SpCell) becomes worse than thresholdl and neigh-bor becomes better than threshold2) ;

[0081] · Event A6 (Neighbour becomes offset better than secondary cell (SCell) ) ;

[0082] · Event B 1 (Inter radio access technology (RAT) neighbour becomes better than thresh-old) ;

[0083] · Event B2 (primary cell (PCell) becomes worse than thresholdl and inter RAT neighbor becomes better than threshold2) .

[0084] Further, events A1-A6 can be categorized as Same RAT and events B1-B2 can be categorized as Inter-RAT Events. UE keeps on measuring serving cell and neighbors report quantity and validates it with the threshold or offset defined in the report configuration. The report quantity / the trigger for the event can be RSRP, RSRQ or SINR. A UE configured with a CSI-RS can perform CSI-RSRP, CSI-RSRQ and CSI-SINR measurements. These measurements are used to trigger the handover decision as illustrated in FIG. 5.

[0085] CSI reference signal received power (CSI-RSRP) , is defined as the linear average over the power contributions (in [W] ) of the resource elements of the antenna port (s) that carry CSI reference signals configured for RSRP measurements within the considered measurement frequency bandwidth in the configured CSI-RS occasions. For CSI-RSRP determination CSI reference signals transmitted on antenna port 3000 shall be used. If CSI-RSRP is used for L1-RSRP, CSI reference signals transmitted on antenna  ports 3000, 3001 can be used for CSI-RSRP determination. For intra-frequency CSI-RSRP measurements, if the measurement gap is not configured, UE is not expected to measure the CSI-RS resource (s) outside of the active downlink bandwidth part. For frequency range 1, the reference point for the CSI-RSRP shall be the antenna connector of the UE. For frequency range 2, CSI-RSRP shall be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch. For frequency range 1 and 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported CSI-RSRP value shall not be lower than the corresponding CSI-RSRP of any of the individual receiver branches. If CSI-RSRP is used for layer 1 (L1) -RSRP, the CSI-RSRP may be applicable for RRC CONNECTED intra-frequency. Alternatively, the CSI-RSRP may be applicable for RRC_CONNECTED intra-frequency and RRC_CONNECTED inter-frequency.

[0086] CSI reference signal received quality (CSI-RSRQ) is defined as a ratio of NxCSI-RSRP to CSI-RSSI, where N is the number of resource blocks in the CSI-RSSI measurement bandwidth. The measurements in the numerator and denominator shall be made over the same set of resource blocks. CSI Received Signal Strength Indicator (CSI-RSSI) , includes the linear average of the total received power (in [W] ) observed only in OFDM symbols of measurement time resource (s) , in the measurement bandwidth, over N number of resource blocks from all sources, including co-channel serving and non-serving cells, adjacent channel interference, thermal noise etc. The measurement time resource (s) for CSI-RSSI corresponds to OFDM symbols containing configured CSI-RS occasions. For CSI-RSRQ determination CSI reference signals transmitted on antenna port 3000 may be used. For intra-frequency CSI-RSRQ measurements, if the measurement gap is not configured, UE is not expected to measure the CSI-RS resource (s) outside of the active downlink bandwidth part. For frequency range 1, the reference point for the CSI-RSRQ shall be the antenna connector of the UE. For frequency range 2, CSI-RSSI shall be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch, where the combining for CSI-RSSI shall be the same as the one used for CSI-RSRP measurements. For frequency range 1 and 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported CSI-RSRQ value shall not be lower than the corresponding CSI-RSRQ of any of the individual receiver branches. The CSI-RSRP may be applicable for RRC_CONNECTED intra-frequency and RRC_CONNECTED inter-frequency.

[0087] CSI signal-to-noise and interference ratio (CSI-SINR) , is defined as the linear average over the power contribution (in [W] ) of the resource elements carrying CSI  reference signals divided by the linear average of the noise and interference power contribution (in [W] ) . If CSI-SINR is used for L1-SINR reporting with dedicated interference measurement resources, the interference and noise is measured over resource (s) indicated by higher layers. Otherwise, the interference and noise are measured over the resource elements carrying CSI reference signals within the same frequency bandwidth. For CSI-SINR determination CSI reference signals transmitted on antenna port 3000 shall be used. If CSI-SINR is used for L1-SINR, CSI reference signals transmitted on antenna ports 3000, 3001 can be used for CSI-SINR determination. For intra-frequency CSI-SINR measurements not used for L1-SINR reporting, if the measurement gap is not configured, UE is not expected to measure the CSI-RS resource (s) outside of the active downlink bandwidth part. For frequency range 1, the reference point for the CSI-SINR shall be the antenna connector of the UE. For frequency range 2, CSI-SINR shall be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch. For frequency range 1 and 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported CSI-SINR value shall not be lower than the corresponding CSI-SINR of any of the individual receiver branches. If CSI-SINR is used for L1-SINR, the CSI-SINR may be applicable for RRC_CONNECTED intra-frequency. Alternatively, the CSI-SINR may be applicable RRC_CONNECTED intra-frequency and RRC_CONNECTED inter-frequency.

[0088] Further, the time domain division (TDD) configuration of neighbour gNBs can be exchanged through the Xn interface as part of the TDD UL-DL Configuration Common NR Information Element. The information exchange across gNBs may contain information about the SBFD configuration of neighbouring gNB. For example, the information may include semi-static cell-specific SBFD time and frequency location configuration.

[0089] In a similar manner as for the TDD configuration, the CSI-RS configuration of the neighbour cells are also exchanged for inter-cell mobility purposes. This is done as part of the CSI-RS MTC Configuration List Information Element. (MTC stands for Measurement Timing Configuration) . The CSI-RS information that is exchanged is the one included in the CSI-RS-CellMobility IE, which is shown below.

[0090] Table 1 CSI-RS-CellMobility IE

[0091] Note that a startPRB and a bandwidth (nrofPRBs) is provided to indicate the frequency location of the CSI-RS pilots. Thus, it assumes that the CSI-RS resources are continuous in frequency.

[0092] The UE relies on knowing the exact location of the CSI-RS pilots in order to perform the CSI-RS-based measurements. This is not a problem for serving cell measurements since the UE is fully aware of the SBFD time and frequency configuration of the cell it is connected to. Thus, it can apply the previously mentioned agreement on the CSI-RS resource mapping on SBFD slots. FIG. 6 illustrates a schematic diagram of an example of CSI-RS re-mapping and measurement capabilities. As shown in FIG. 6, one symbol may be cross a number of resource blocks (such as, resource blocks 610-1, ... 610-N, where N is an integer) . One resource block may include a plurality of resource elements and some resources may be used for CSI-RS.

[0093] However, for inter-cell measurements, the UE is not currently aware of the neighbor cell configuration. The UE actually assumes that the CSI-RS resources are contiguous in frequency regardless of whether the CSI-RS is transmitted over a DL slot or an SBFD slot. This assumption is made given that the UE is not aware of the neighbour cell SBFD time and frequency configuration. As illustrated in FIG. 7, based on legacy measurement methods, this results in a deviation of the RSRP / RSRQ / SINR / RSSI measurement for the case those measurements are performed on SBFD slots or symbols (where puncturing is applied) as compared to the measurements performed in legacy DL-only slots or symbols. For example, as shown in FIG. 7 where there are 3 resource elements for CSI-RS per resource block, the calculated CSI-RSRP (dBm) =3N CSI-RS REs received power -10*log (3N) , the calculated CSI-RSRQ (dB) =CSI-RSRP  /  (CSI-RSSI / N) , and the calculated CSI-SINR (dB) =CSI-RSRP  / Average 3N CSI-RS REs (noise+interference) power, however, due to the punctured resources 710 on M resource blocks, the actual CSI-RSRP_SBFD (dBm) =3 (N-M) CSI-RS REs received power -10*log (3N) , the actual CSI-RSRQ_SBFD (dB) =CSI-RSRP_SBFD /  (CSI-RSSI / N) , and the actual CSI-SINR_SBFD (dB) =CSI-RSRP_SBFD / Average 3N CSI-RS REs (noise+interference) power, where N represents the total number of resource blocks. Thus, this compromises the results of the measurements and makes the mobility decisions unreliable.

[0094] According to some example embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided a solution for CSI-RS based measurement with SBFD. In particular, a measurement result of CSI-RS is obtained by applying a power compensation value to an initial measurement result. In this way, it can improve the CSI-RS measurement accuracy. Further, SBFD slots and DL slots can be handled separately.

[0095] Example embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Example embodiments of the present disclosure can be applied to all the CSI-RS based RRM measurements including CSI-RS based L3 measurements, the CSI-RS based radio link monitoring / beam failure detection (RLM / BFD) measurements and the like.

[0096] Reference is made to FIG. 8, which illustrates a signaling flow of CSI-RS measurement with SBFD symbols in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the signaling flow 800 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120.

[0097] As shown in FIG. 8, the second apparatus 120 may transmit (5010) a configuration of reference signal measurement to the first apparatus 110. In other words, the first apparatus 110 may receive (8010) the configuration of reference signal measurement from the second apparatus 120. For example, the CSI-RS resource may be a periodic CSI-RS resource to be measured by the first apparatus 110. For example, the configuration may include a configuration of at least one periodic CSI-RS resource e.g. the time and frequency location for radio link monitoring or mobility purposes.

[0098] In some example embodiments, the configuration may include the SBFD frequency domain configuration and the SBFD time domain configuration. For example, the configuration may indicate locations of the SBFD resources in time and frequency-domain of the serving cell.

[0099] The second apparatus 120 transmits (8020) a parameter for adjusting the reference signal measurement to the first apparatus 110. That is, the first apparatus 110 receives the parameter from the second apparatus 120. For example, the parameter may indicate a power compensation factor. Alternatively, the parameter may indicate the number of punctured resource blocks within the SBFD slot. In this way, the accuracy of the measurement can be improved. Further, it can achieve a simpler solution with lighter signaling overhead.

[0100] In some example embodiments, the configuration of reference signal measurement and the parameter be transmitted together, for example, in the same message. Alternatively, the configuration of reference signal measurement and the parameter may be transmitted separately, for example, in different messages. It is noted that the order of transmissions 8010 and 8020 shown in FIG. 8 is only an example.

[0101] The second apparatus 120 may transmit (8025) a set of CSI-RSs to the first apparatus 110 on the configured CSI-RS resources. In other words, the first apparatus 110 may receive (8025) the set of CSI-RSs from the second apparatus 120 on the configured CSI-RS resources. For example, the set of CSI-RSs may be transmitted on an SBFD slot. In some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may determine that at least one CSI-RS resource at least partially overlaps with a SBFD resource.

[0102] The first apparatus 110 performs (8030) the reference signal measurement on the set of CSI-RSs received on the SBFD slot. For example, the first apparatus 110 may measure CSI-RSRP on the set of CSI-RSs. Alternatively, the first apparatus 110 may  measure CSI-RSRQ on the set of CSI-RSs. In some further embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may measure CSI-SINR on the set of CSI-RSs.

[0103] In some example embodiments, the second apparatus 120 may also transmit (8025) CSI-RSs on one or more non-SBFD slots to the first apparatus 110. In this case, the first apparatus 110 may perform the reference signal measurement on the CSI-RSs based on the configuration of the reference signal measurement. For example, the first apparatus 110 may determine the SBFD slot on which the set of CSI-RSs is transmitted based on an SBFD indication.

[0104] In some example embodiments, if the CSI-RS resources carry the parameter and there is no SBFD indication, the first apparatus 110 may assume that the CSI-RS resources are in SBFD slots and the measurement results need add compensation coefficient. In some other example embodiments, if the CSI-RS resources carry the parameter and there is the SBFD indication (e.g., period of SBFD slots) , the first apparatus 110 may compensate only CSI-RS resources in SBFD slots. Otherwise, there is no need to add compensation to the measurement of the CSI-RSs.

[0105] In some example embodiments, as mentioned above, the parameter indicates the power compensation factor. The first apparatus 110 may determine (8040) an initial measurement result of the set of CSI-RSs based on the reference signal measurement. For example, the first apparatus 110 may add the power compensation factor / value for the initial measurement result in SBFD slots. The first apparatus 110 may then determine (8050) the measurement result by applying the power compensation factor to the initial measurement result. For example, the power compensation factor (can be represented as Δ) may be where n represents the number of configured CSI-RS RBs, m represents the number of punctured RBs. In this case, the measurement result of the set of CSI-RSs may be determined as follows: CSI-RSRP_SBFD (dBm) =CSI-RS REs received power-10 log (Kn) + Δ, where K is the number of CSI-RS REs per RB. The scaled CSI-RSRP value may be then used to derive RSRQ and SINR metrics. The term “CSI-RS REs received power” may refer to a sum of the received RSRP across all the CSI-RS REs (including those configured over the UL subband) . In this way, a simple compensation is added to make the measurement result more accurate.

[0106] In some other example embodiments, as mentioned above, the parameter may indicate the number of punctured resource blocks within the SBFD slot. That is, the second  apparatus 120 may provide the number of punctured resource blocks within the SBFD slot, i.e., the number of RBs dedicated to UL subband + guardbands in the neighbour cell SBFD configuration. In this case, the first apparatus 110 may determine the power compensation factor based on the number of punctured resource blocks. The first apparatus 110 may then determine (8050) the measurement result by applying the power compensation factor to the initial measurement result. For example, as mentioned above, the power compensation factor (can be represented as Δ) may be and CSI-RSRP_SBFD (dBm) = CSI-RS REs received power-10log (Kn) + Δ, where K is the number of CSI-RS REs per RB. Alternatively, the first apparatus 110 may determine -10 log (Kn -Km) , and the measurement result may be calculated as: CSI-RSRP_SBFD (dBm) = CSI-RS REs received power-10 log (Kn -Km) , where K is the number of CSI-RS REs per RB. Then the scaled CSI-RSRP value may then be used to derive RSRQ and SINR metrics.

[0107] Alternatively, the first apparatus 110 may determine a difference value (i.e., N-M as shown in FIG. 7) between the number of resource blocks in the SBFD slot and the number of punctured resource blocks. The measurement result may be determined (8050) by applying the difference value to the initial measurement result. For example, the measurement result may be determined (8050) as CSI-RSRP_SBFD (dBm) = CSI-RS REs received power-10 log (Kn -Km) , where K is the number of CSI-RS REs per RB. Then the scaled CSI-RSRP value may then be used to derive RSRQ and SINR metrics. The term “CSI-RS REs received power” may refer to a sum of the received RSRP across all the CSI-RS REs (including those configured over the UL subband) . In some further example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may determine a ratio between the number of resource blocks in the SBFD slot and the number of punctured resource blocks. For example, the power compensation factor may be given by a ratio (in decibels) where the numerator is the difference of the configured number of CSI-RS resource blocks and the punctured resource blocks in decibels, and the denominator is the number of punctured RBs The measurement result may be determined (8050) by applying the ratio to the initial measurement result.

[0108] In some example embodiments, after the first apparatus 110 applies the power compensation factor to the measurement result (such as, CSI-RSRP) , the CSI-RSRP measurements in DL and SBFD slots are comparable. There are still some measurement  results differences between SBFD slots and DL slots, specifically on the CSI-RSSI. The difference may come from the UL signals in SBFD slots. So, if there a strong UE-to-UE cross link interference (CLI) signal, a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) may be higher in SBFD slots compared to DL slots. If the RSSI is higher, the RSRQ and SINR on the SBFD slots may be lower. Therefore, according to example embodiments of the present disclosure, the downlink signal quality on DL and SBFD slots can be distinguished, and the second apparatus 120 can handle SBFD and DL slots separately, such as handover decision, resource allocation and load balancing, etc. That is, the second apparatus 120 is aware of the difference in signal quality between DL and SBFD slots in neighboring cells.

[0109] The first apparatus 110 transmits (8050) , to the second apparatus 120, the measurement result of the set of CSI-RSs that is determined based on the parameter and the reference signal measurement. That is, the second apparatus 120 receives (8050) the measurement result of the set of CSI-RSs from the first apparatus 110. In this way, the accuracy of the measurement result can be enhanced, thereby improving communication performance.

[0110] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may determine whether an event is triggered based on the measurement result of the set of CSI-RSs. For example, the event may include one or more of the above-mentioned Event A1 to Event B2. In this case, if the event is triggered, the first apparatus 110 may transmit an event report to the second apparatus 120. The event report may include the measurement result of the set of CSI-RSs.

[0111] The first apparatus 110 may determine that the event is triggered, if one of the following conditions is satisfied: the measurement result is higher than a threshold, the measurement result is lower than the threshold, the measurement result is higher than a measurement result of a serving cell, the measurement result is lower than the measurement result of the serving cell, the measurement result is higher than a measurement result of another measurement, or the measurement result is lower than the measurement result of the other measurement.

[0112] In some example embodiments, if the measurement result is higher than a threshold, the first apparatus 110 may determine that Event A1 is triggered. That is, if the serving cell becomes better than the threshold, Event A1 is triggered. Alternatively, if the neighbor cell becomes better than threshold, Event A4 is triggered. In some other example  embodiments, if the measurement result if lower than the threshold (i.e., the serving cell becomes worse than the threshold) , Event A2 is triggered. In some further example embodiments, if the measurement result is higher than a measurement result of a serving cell, the first apparatus 110 may determine that Event A3 is triggered. Alternatively, if the measurement result is lower than the measurement result of the serving cell, Event A3 is triggered. For example, if the neighbor cell becomes offset better than SpCell, Event A3 is triggered. Other examples for triggering the event are omitted here.

[0113] Alternatively, the first apparatus 110 may adjust the measurement result based on the power compensation factor, after receiving the measurement results. That is, the measurement result may be adjusted by the second apparatus 120 rather than the first apparatus 110. In this way, the network can do compensation for legacy UE's measurement in SBFD slot. For example, the second apparatus 120 may determine the measurement result as follows: CSI-RSRP_SBFD (dBm) = CSI-RSRP_legacy (dBm) +Δ, Δ could be where n represents the number of configured CSI-RS RBs, m represents the number of punctured RBs. Then the scaled CSI-RSRP value may be then used to derive RSRQ and SINR metrics.

[0114] Reference is made to FIG. 9, which illustrates a signaling flow of CSI-RS measurement with SBFD symbols in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the signaling flow 900 will be discussed with reference to FIG. 1, for example, by using the first apparatus 110, a source gNB which may be the second apparatus 120, a target gNB 920 and a core network device 930.

[0115] The source gNB 910 and the target gNB 920 may exchange (9010) a configuration of neighbor cell. For example, the configuration of the neighbor cell may be exchanged by an Xn interface. Alternatively, the configuration of the neighbor cell may be exchanged by a core network device 930. In some example embodiments, the configuration may include an SBFD structure configuration of the neighbor cell. For example, the SBFD structure configuration of the neighbor cell may include one or more of: SBFD slots, SBFD period, SBFD time / frequency structure and the like. Alternatively, or in addition, the configuration of the neighbor cell may may include the parameter for adjusting the measurement, such as, a compensation value for measurement resources.

[0116] The source gNB 910 may transmit (9020) a measurement configuration to the first apparatus 110. That is, the first apparatus 110 may receive (9020) the measurement  configuration from the source gNB 910. In some example embodiments, the measurement configuration may include a configuration of serving cell CSI-RS for mobility resources which includes time, frequency, etc. In addition, the measurement configuration may include a configuration of neighbour cells CSI-RS for mobility resources which includes time, frequency, SBFD indication (e.g., period information of SBFD) and the like. The measurement configuration may further include the number of punctured resource blocks (i.e., the parameter) . Alternatively, the measurement configuration may include a power compensation factor.

[0117] The first apparatus 110 may separately measure (9030) CSI-RS for mobility in SBFD slots and DL slots. For example, if the CSI-RS resources carry the power compensation factor and there is no additional SBFD indication, the first apparatus 110 may assume that the CSI-RS resources are in SBFD slots and add the power compensation factor to the measurement result of the CSI-RSs. Alternatively, if the CSI-RS resources carry the compensation factor, and there is at least one additional SBFD indication (e.g., period of SBFD slots) , the first apparatus 110 may compensate (i.e., by adding the power compensation factor) only CSI-RS resources in SBFD slots. Otherwise, there is no need to add compensation.

[0118] The first apparatus 110 may determine whether to trigger event report based on the measurement result (such as, SBFD CSI-RSRP, SBFD CSI-RSRQ, SBFD CSI-SINR) . For example, the event report is triggered, if one of the followings is satisfied: SBFD_CSI-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR is higher one threshold, SBFD_CSI-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR is better than serving cell, SBFD_CSI-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR is better than DL_CSI-RSRP / RSRQ / SINR. The first apparatus 110 may transmit the event report to the source gNB 910 which includes the measurement result. The source gNB 910 may determine (9050) the first apparatus 110 to execute handover and load balance, and the like.
