Abstract

The present utility model describes additional protection by means of a protector to be applied to a paddle, beach tennis, pickleball, or similar racket, in order to protect its upper edge, which is the region most subject to impact when the racket strikes the ground, walls, etc. More specifically, the invention comprises a protector made from a heat-shrink adhesive material having medium tack glue. The protector (1) disclosed herein is produced by lamination, preferably of a first adhesive vinyl layer (1.1), resulting in an approximate thickness of 0.12 mm on a lower portion, and a second heat-shrink adhesive vinyl layer (1.3) having a thickness ranging from 0.14 to 0.16 mm on an upper portion. The combination of these two materials results in a heat-shrink, strong and lightweight protector (1) that easily moulds to the edges of a racket (2) due to its heat-shrink technology. The protector is preferably bonded by applying a heat source, such as a hair dryer, heat gun, lighter, or cooker flame, inter alia, and has a medium tack glue in the contact region (3) with the racket (2).

Description

[0001] CONSTRUCTIONAL ARRANGEMENT APPLIED TO A RACKET PROTECTOR

[0002] Scope of Application of the Utility Model

[0003]

[0001] This utility model describes additional protection by means of a protector to be applied to paddle, beach tennis, pickleball, or similar rackets, in order to protect their upper edge, since this is the region of the racket most affected when colliding with the ground, walls, etc. More specifically, it comprises a protector made of a heat-shrinkable adhesive material, with medium tack glue.

[0004] Background of the Utility Model

[0005]

[0002] Currently, there are various racket protectors on the market designed to protect the edges of paddle, beach tennis, or similar rackets, made from various types of materials. However, none of them are equipped with heat-shrink technology, meaning they do not remain firmly and perfectly molded to the edges of the rackets to which they are glued.

[0006]

[0003] In research conducted on the state of the art, we identified several documents claiming protective measures applied to rackets, among which we can highlight the following documents:

[0007]

[0004] Document ES1076555 “FLEXIBLE AND ADAPTABLE PROTECTOR FOR PADDLE RACKET, HAS SINGLE FLEXIBLE PIECE WITH SHAPE SAME AS PERIMETER OF PADDLE RACQUET WITHOUT HANDLE, WHERE WIDTH OF BLADE IS COMPLETELY COVERED, AND CAVITY IS FORMED IN LOWER PART OF PIECE” discloses a flexible and adaptable protector that has a single flexible piece with a shape equal to the perimeter of a paddle racket without a handle, where the width of a blade is completely covered. A cavity is formed in a lower part of the piece, through which the racket handle is inserted, so that the protector is fixed to the edge.

[0008] Petition 870240093155, dated 10 / 31 / 2024, p. 5 / 16 of the racket without an adhesive. The protector is made of plastic with a U-shaped section of a certain thickness and width equal to the profile of the paddle blade.

[0009]

[0005] Document ES1 135513 “PROTECTOR FOR FRAME OF PADEL RACKET, HAS STRIP FORMED FROM MECHANIZING MOLD OF INJECTION, AND BAND RETIREMENTABLE PART PROTECTING ADHESIVE SURFACE, WHICH IS CONNECTED WITH FACES OF STRIP” discloses a protector that has a strip formed from the machining of an injection mold. A retractable part of the band protects an adhesive surface, which is connected to the faces of the strip. A configured part is connected to the strip, which is made of thermoplastic polyurethane.

[0010]

[0006] Finally, document TWI827518 “ACCESSORY PICKLEBALL RACKET FOR HITTING AREA, HAS BOARD BODY DEFINING CIRCUMFERENTIAL SIDE, HANDLE BODY CONNECTED TO PLATE BODY, AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLED ON PERIPHERAL SIDE OF PLATE BODY AND PROTRUDING FROM BOARD BODY” discloses a pickleball racket with an accessory for the hitting area, including a plate body, a handle body, and at least one accessory, wherein the plate body serves as the hitting area, the plate body defines a circumferential side, and the plate body has two surface layers spaced apart from each other. The second surface layer defines an edge. The peripheral side of the plate body covers the edge or covers the edge and part of the surface layer. The handle body is connected to the plate body. The accessories are mounted on the peripheral side of the board body, and the accessories protrude from the board body. This provides pickleball racket accessories that are easy to assemble and disassemble, and also

[0011] Petition 870240093155, dated 10 / 31 / 2024, page 6 / 16 provides pickleball racket protection and extended lifespan. It also provides pickleball racket counterweights and flexible racket surface control, and also provides pickleball racket resistance to torque and precise ball path control. This is beneficial for controlling the time the pickleball remains on the board and is also beneficial for controlling the rotational force of the board on the pickleball.

[0012]

[0007] Note that none of the prior inventions actually provide additional protection to be applied to paddle, beach tennis, pickleball, or similar rackets in order to protect their upper edge, since this is the area most affected by impacts on the racket when colliding with the ground, walls, etc. More specifically, it comprises a protector made of a heat-shrinkable adhesive material, with medium tack glue.

[0013] Utility Model Summary

[0014]

[0008] This utility model refers to a racket protector, designed to maintain the integrity of the racket's upper edge, the area with the most friction against the ground, glass, or walls on courts.

[0009] There are racket protectors on the market with the same protective purpose, made to protect the racket edges, using various materials. However, only the Realcy Pro has heat-shrink technology, which perfectly molds to the racket edges with the application of a heat source (hair dryer, heat gun, lighter, stove burner, etc.), and uses a medium-tack adhesive, making it suitable for racket application and causing no damage to the racket's varnish upon removal.

[0015]

[0010] The protector now revealed is obtained from the union of these two materials, being resistant and, at the same time, lightweight, easily molding itself to the edges of the racket, due to its heat-shrink technology.

[0016] Petition 870240093155, dated 10 / 31 / 2024, page 7 / 16

[0011] Thus, the need for additional protection through a protector to be applied to paddle, beach tennis, pickleball, or similar rackets is evident in the state of the art, in order to protect their upper edge, since this is the region most attacked by the racket when colliding with the ground, walls, etc. More specifically, it comprises a protector made of a heat-shrinkable adhesive material, with medium tack glue.

[0017] Description of the Drawings

[0018]

[0012] Figure 1 shows a side view of the protection now revealed.

[0013] Figure 2 shows a top view of the protection now revealed.

[0019]

[0014] Figure 3 shows an example of how to apply protection to the racket.

[0020] Detailed Description of the Utility Model

[0021]

[0015] The protection (1) now disclosed is produced by laminating preferably a first adhesive vinyl (1.1), resulting in approximately 0.12 mm thickness on the bottom, and on the top a second heat-shrinkable adhesive vinyl (1.3) that varies from 0.14 to 0.16 mm in thickness.

[0022]

[0016] From the union of these two materials, the heat-shrinkable protection (1) is obtained, which is resistant and, at the same time, lightweight, easily molding itself to the edges of a racket (2), due to its heat-shrink technology.

[0023]

[0017] Its bonding is preferably carried out by applying a heat source, such as a hair dryer, heat gun, lighter, stove burner, among others, having a medium Tak adhesive glue in the contact region (3) with the racket (2).

[0024]

[0018] The protection (1) has an approximate weight, which can vary from 3 to 6 grams, depending on the width of each protector, produced according to the type of racket in which it will be applied.
