Abstract

The present invention relates to a travel pillow having a cover (1) filled with soft material, at least one handle (2) attached to the cover, and a tightening system for tightening the cover, comprising a longitudinal fabric portion (3) arranged on a front face of the cover and attached to the upper edge of the cover, and at least one strap (4), the length of which can be adjusted and which consists of a set of strips. One strip is attached at one end to the lower edge of the fabric portion (3) and the other strip is attached to the lower edge of the cover (1). When the strips are pulled manually, the straps (4) adjust the volume of the cover (1).

[0004] The present invention relates to a new type of travel pillow that is designed so that a user can carry it comfortably like a bag and can quickly and effortlessly adjust its size, so that a user can fit it to their neck and ensure that it does not move.

[0005] The present invention falls within the industrial sector related to the manufacture of elements intended to improve the rest of a user and, more specifically, related to pillows, cushions or covers filled with soft material.

[0006] Background of the invention

[0007] Within this industry, there are many types of pillows designed to aid a user's rest. A pillow is a soft, padded object filled with a soft material, placed on a mattress where the user rests their head. The primary purpose of any pillow is to facilitate the user's rest, and more specifically, to maintain a proper resting position with the spine straight. To achieve this, the pillow fills the natural curve of the neck, allowing the neck to relax, preventing muscle tension, reducing stress accumulated during the day, and promoting better sleep.

[0008] In this sense, as previously mentioned, the pillow is designed to be placed on a mattress, but generally, it is not intended to be carried by the user; at least, it is not equipped with any means to facilitate its transport. However, it is known that some users require their pillow to rest when they are away from home, and therefore, they are obliged to carry it.

[0009] Therefore, any traveler who wants to take their pillow faces the problem of transporting it, since it is a soft, bulky item that occupies the same volume as a backpack or suitcase. Furthermore, lacking any convenient carrying mechanisms, the user has to treat the pillow like any other piece of luggage. Additionally, once the pillow is packed with the rest of the luggage, it cannot be used for comfort or enjoyment during the trip.

[0010] In this regard, pillows are known that improve user comfort during travel and are based on U-shaped soft elements placed around the user's neck. For example, the pillow disclosed in document ES2734180 is a U-shaped soft element that surrounds the user's neck and includes a tightening mechanism at its front ends that allows the position of the soft element to be adjusted to the user's neck. Also known is the pillow disclosed in document ES2978119, which again describes a U-shaped soft element that surrounds the user's neck and includes a rear support that allows the pillow to be attached to a seat.This type of travel pillow has the advantage of allowing a user to enjoy its use during travel and, due to its small size and configuration, is easily transportable; however, it is known that this type of pillow is comfortable when the user is sitting or reclining, but is neither comfortable nor functional when used by a user who is lying down, that is, it is not comfortable to be used continuously on a mattress as a main pillow.

[0011] Also known is the information disclosed in document ES1143385U, which describes a type of travel bag consisting of a plurality of concentric rings of soft material, a central strip passing through the rings, and tightening means at the ends of the central strip, so that a user can squeeze the bag and bring the rings together, forming a kind of pillow. This pillow, obtained by compressing a plurality of soft elements, can be used during travel to improve a user's rest. Unlike the two previously mentioned examples, it could also be used as a pillow by a user lying down in bed. However, this bag is intended for other uses and, from the perspective of a user's rest and health, cannot be considered a good option as a primary pillow for everyday use.

[0012] Taking these aspects into account, the need arises to develop a new type of pillow that overcomes these problems and limitations existing in the state of the art.In this sense, the present invention defines a pillow of conventional configuration for everyday use by a user, which has the particularity of being equipped with means that allow its transport, which allows, for example, its use during a trip and as a bed pillow during the period in which a user is away from home; and, in addition, it comprises means that allow its size to be adjusted quickly and without effort, which, on the one hand, allows the user to compress the pillow to adjust it to a specific shape that allows its use during the trip and / or already at the destination, and in turn, improves the comfort in transporting it, being able, for example, to compress said volume so that it can be carried comfortably by reducing the volume.

[0013] The present invention, in addition to facilitating transport, provides the advantage of improving head support when used during travel, since the pillow is designed to accommodate the neck and prevent it from moving.

[0014] The applicant is unaware of any type of travel pillow that is similar to or as advantageous as the one described and claimed below.

[0016] The invention is a new type of travel pillow that, in its different embodiments, solves the problems and limitations present in the state of the art previously raised.

[0017] Going into greater detail, the travel pillow of the present invention comprises: a soft, oblong-shaped cover filled with soft material; at least one handle attached to the cover, where this attachment may be on the upper part of the cover's perimeter, with the handle positioned between both sides, or it may be attached to the back of the cover with a reinforcement; and where the handle's function is to allow a user to grasp and carry the cover manually and comfortably, like a bag or shoulder bag; and a cover tightening system formed by a longitudinal portion of fabric, arranged on the front of the cover and attached to its upper perimeter; and at least one length-adjustable strap formed by attaching a set of strips; where one strip is attached on one side to the lower perimeter of the fabric portion; and where the other strip is attached to the lower perimeter of the cover;where the fastening can be by a buckle, a knot or a lashing; and where by exerting manual force on the strip and the tape, the strap tightens or loosens the cover and, therefore, the volume of the cover is adjusted, so that a user can make the cover firmer or less firm, can make it higher or lower according to their need, allows the lumbar region to rest, and the straps allow the pillow to remain in place when the user has taken the position of resting their head on the cover, for example, during a trip.

[0018] This invention is designed to make the pillow easily portable, as a user can carry it by hand or sling it over their shoulder like a messenger bag. It also allows for quick and easy adjustment of the pillow's volume. By securing the strap with one hand and positioning the pillow like a messenger bag, so that the shoulder acts as a stopper and counterweight, the strap tightens and locks the pillow's volume. This improves head support when traveling, as the invention provides a means for the user to adjust the pillow to the neck and prevent it from shifting. In various embodiments of the invention, the straps can be sewn, glued, or attached as a single piece to the pillow; or they can be made from any system of straps that conforms to the shape of the pillow when worn as a messenger bag.

[0027] As can be seen in the preceding set of figures, one embodiment of the travel pillow of the present invention comprises: a cover (1) filled with soft material of oblong configuration; a handle (2) fixed to the cover, wherein the ends of the handle are on the back of the cover and comprise a reinforcement (6) for fixing it to the cover; and wherein the handle allows the pillow to be carried comfortably as a bag or shoulder bag; and a system for tightening the cover comprising: a longitudinal portion of fabric (3), disposed on the front of the cover and fixed to the upper contour of the cover; and two length-adjustable straps (4) made from a set of strips; wherein one strip is fixed on one side to the lower contour of the portion of fabric; and wherein the other strip is fixed to the lower contour of the cover;and where by exerting a manual force on the straps, the straps tighten or loosen the cover (1) and, therefore, the volume of the same is adjusted, i.e., by loosening the straps the volume of the cover is increased, or by tightening the straps the volume of the cover is reduced or tightened, and the pillow is prevented from moving.;

Claims

CLAIMS 1 Travel pillow, characterized in that it comprises: a cover (1) filled with soft material; at least one handle (2) attached to the cover; and a system for tightening the cover comprising: a longitudinal portion of fabric (3), disposed on a front face of the cover and attached to the upper contour of the cover; at least one length-adjustable strap (4) made up of a set of strips; where one strip is attached on one side to the lower contour of the portion of fabric (3); and where the other strip is attached to the lower contour of the cover (1); and where by exerting a manual force on the strips, the straps (4) adjust the volume of the cover (1). 2.- Travel pillow, according to claim 1, wherein the cover (1) is of oblong configuration. 3.- Travel pillow, according to claim 1, wherein the handle (2) is fixed to the top of the contour of the cover (1). 4.- Travel pillow, according to claim 1, wherein the handle (2) is fixed to the back of the cover with a reinforcement (6).
