Description

[0001] UTENSIL FOR MECHANISMS THAT BEAT AND MIX SUBSTANCES

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0003] The present invention relates to the technical field of Mechanics and Manufacturing, since it refers to a utensil for use in mechanisms that beat and mix substances; and therefore, it also refers to said mechanisms for beating and mixing substances, which comprise said utensil.

[0004] BACKGROUND

[0005] When frappé-type drinks are sipped through a straw, the crushed ice clumps together. This is because, when sucking, more of the liquid component is drawn up than the solid component, which is the crushed ice. This causes the ice particles to stick together, forming clumps that can sometimes clog the straw. This problem is exacerbated when the crushed ice melts slowly, and often the consumer chooses not to finish the drink and discards the ice.

[0006] It is common for consumers of frappé-type drinks to use a straw to stir, break up, mix, etc., the clumps of frappé ice when faced with this problem; however, this straw is not suitable for this purpose, because they are generally completely smooth and do not stir, break up, mix, etc., these clumps.

[0007] Patent document FR2485360 solves the problem of providing a versatile cover that elastically supports and holds at least one straw, compatible with all types of current glasses to protect the beverage inside from dust and / or sunlight. This cover is designed to receive a printed or adhesive graphic. The advantages of this invention are essentially that the protective cover for the straw can be used on all types of glass. The torch guide keeps it comfortably in a vertical or slightly inclined position. The cover can hold multiple straws, each hooked onto its own support channel. As shown in perspective in Figure 1, the cover according to the invention consists of a thin sheet 1 formed by thermoforming or stamping, curved or capable of adopting various aesthetic shapes. The periphery can be circular or polygonal, of sufficient size to completely cover the top of the glass container. The lid 1 may include an extension 3 with a length at least equal to the height of the glass. This extension acts as a sunshade and is folded along a straight line XX' located on the periphery of the lid to allow for easy stacking of the lids, as shown in Figure 8. The width of the extension 3 at the fold line is preferably equal to the diameter of the lid; consequently, this extension is connected to the sides of the lid by sections 4.5, which may be flat or not. The curve of the lid, as well as the channel that holds the straw, are preferably obtained by thermoforming a sheet of very thin plastic material, on the order of 0.1 to 0.2 mm thick. The straw 7 is held elastically in the channel 6 of the lid and is immersed in the beverage contained in the glass 8.The conduit 6 may be arranged in the center of the lid and perpendicular to the plane of the lid, or it may be arranged near the periphery of the lid, for example, on the side opposite extension 3, if present, and be slightly inclined so that the free upper end of the torch is directed outward from the glass. The lid 1 and / or extension 3 may bear an advertising or decorative graphic, printed directly or on a glued backing of paper or other material. As can be seen, the invention in this patent document does not solve the problem of the clumping of crushed ice or other substances caused by sucking a frappé-type beverage through a straw; rather, its purpose is entirely different from that pursued by the present invention.

[0008] In order to counteract the aforementioned drawbacks, a utensil has been developed that can be used in mechanisms that beat and mix substances; therefore, a mechanism for beating and mixing substances was also developed, which includes said utensil.

[0037] A. Utensil for mechanisms that beat and mix substances.

[0038] The present invention relates to a utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, especially substances contained in a container; where said substances can be of any type, whether edible or non-edible.

[0039] Edible substances that can be whipped and / or mixed include, among other examples: crushed ice, frozen, crushed, thick, viscous, granulated, powdered and / or liquid foods and beverages; juices, smoothies, yogurt, beverage and food additives, pasty products, sauces, purees, creams, desserts, or any combination thereof; as well as other liquid, semi-liquid or crushed edible substances used in food applications.

[0040] Non-edible substances that can be beaten and / or mixed include, among other examples: cleaning products such as soap, detergent, paint, chemicals, construction products such as mortars and adhesives, cosmetic products, pharmaceutical products, or a combination of these; as well as other liquid, semi-liquid, granulated, powdered and / or viscous substances used in industrial, commercial or domestic applications.

[0041] The utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, of the present invention, is configured with: i) a longitudinal clamping element (1), whose external surface is longitudinally toothed (Sb); and

[0042] (i) At least one blade (Se) is provided at one end of the longitudinal fastening element (1). The longitudinal fastening element (1) may be completely solid (Sf); hollow longitudinally, but closed at at least one end (Sd and Se); or completely hollow longitudinally, like a straw, which in turn serves to ingest or absorb the already beaten and / or mixed substance.

[0043] One embodiment of the utensil for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, in accordance with the present invention, is when the longitudinal clamping element (1) comprises an external smooth portion (Sa) at least at one of its ends.

[0044] Another embodiment of the utensil in question is when the blade (Se) is a spoon-type blade, that is, it has side fins, or similar elements, that allow it to make a better beat and mix.

[0045] In a preferred embodiment of the utensil (S) of the present invention, it further comprises an external circular stop (Sh) at the end opposite the end with the blade (Sc) of the longitudinal clamping element (1). This external circular stop (Sh) serves to maintain the utensil (S) at a certain height relative to the bottom of the container (C) while it is rotating, preventing the blade (Sc) of the utensil (S) from striking and becoming stuck at the bottom of the container (C).

[0046] In another embodiment of the utensil (S) according to the present invention, it can also comprise a folding mechanism (Si) in the longitudinal clamping element (1), which allows the utensil (S) to be folded or bent, see figures 21 and 22. This folding mechanism (Si) can be a partial cut or a material thinning groove, preferably located between the smooth portion (Sa) where the blade (Se) is located and the longitudinally toothed outer surface (Sb).

[0047] In an optional embodiment of the utensil (S) according to the present invention, it further comprises at least one decorative element arranged on at least one of the smooth portions (Sa); for example, the decorative element may be a spiral (Sg), which may be applied using techniques such as drawing, engraving, stamping, embossing, inlay, relief, or a combination thereof. An example can be seen in Figures 7, 16, 17, and 18.

[0048] B. Mechanism for beating and mixing substances.

[0049] The present invention further relates to a mechanism for beating and mixing substances, which comprises: i) a utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, in accordance with the utensil already described and proposed by the present invention; and

[0050] i) at least one toothed and circular gear element, which surrounds the tool (S), which can rotate by making contact through its longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) with the teeth of the at least one toothed and circular gear element (Ca, La and La').

[0051] In one embodiment, the mechanism for beating and mixing substances of the present invention is when the toothed and circular gear element is a toothed perforation (La') provided in a lid (L), which is fixed and closed in a container (C) that contains the substance to be beaten and mixed; such as the lid illustrated in figures 8 and 9.

[0052] Another embodiment of the mechanism of the present invention is where the toothed, circular gear element is a toothed, through-tube (La), preferably of an inverted, truncated conical shape, provided in a cap (L) that is fixed to and closes a container (C) holding the substance to be beaten and mixed. An example of this mechanism can be seen in the caps illustrated in Figures 10 to 13, 15, 18, 19, 20, and 23 to 30.

[0053] The purpose of the through-and-tooth duct (La) is to prevent the blade (Se) of the utensil (S) from colliding with the side walls of the container (C), such that the utensil (S) is inserted, rests and rotates on the upper opening of said through-and-tooth duct (La), and the utensil (S) rests and slides on the lower perforation (Lb) of said through-and-tooth duct (La), such that the blade (Sc) of the utensil (S) is kept sufficiently far from the side walls of the container (C) to avoid rubbing or colliding with them; this is why said through-and-tooth duct (La) is preferably to have a truncated and inverted conical shape, although it can have any other functional shape that allows the utensil (S) to operate efficiently.

[0054] Being another embodiment of the mechanism in question, when the lower perforation of the pasted and toothed duct (La), comprises a hinged plug (Ld) to open and close said perforation, see figures 25 to 27.

[0055] A further feature of said mechanism of the present invention is when the lower perforation of the toothed and grooved duct (La) comprises a fixed plug (Le), which has a cut to allow the passage of the utensil (S), as shown in figures 28 to 30.

[0056] A further embodiment of the mechanism according to this invention is when the circular gear element is the toothed edge (Ca) of the opening of a container (C) that holds the substance to be beaten and mixed; see figures 16, 17 and 18.

[0057] It should be noted that the mechanisms for beating and mixing substances can be combined in a single container (C), as illustrated in Figure 18, where the through-and-toothed duct (La) provided in the lid (L) is combined with the toothed edge (Ca) of the container (C) that holds the substance to be beaten and mixed.

[0058] EXAMPLES

[0059] The following examples are included to illustrate the conception and some preferred embodiments of the present invention; these should not be considered as limiting the scope of protection of this invention.

[0060] Example 1. Solid utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances.

[0061] A longitudinal, cylindrical, solid piece of plastic was used to manufacture the longitudinal clamping element (1), which had a longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) machined across its entire external surface.

[0062] At one end of the longitudinal cylindrical and solid piece of plastic, a spoon-shaped blade (Se) was provided, to obtain the utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, illustrated in figures 1 and 2.

[0063] Example 2. Hollow utensil (S) but closed at both ends, for mechanisms that beat and mix substances.

[0064] A longitudinal, cylindrical, hollow plastic piece, closed at both ends (Sd and Se), was used to manufacture the longitudinal clamping element (1), which had a longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) machined on its entire external surface, as done in example 1.

[0065] At one of the closed ends (Sd) of the longitudinal, cylindrical and hollow plastic piece, a spoon-shaped blade (Se) was provided, to obtain the utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, illustrated in figures 1 and 3.

[0066] Example 3. Hollow utensil (S) but closed only at one end, for mechanisms that beat and mix substances.

[0067] A longitudinal, cylindrical, hollow plastic piece, closed only at one end (Sd), was used to manufacture the longitudinal clamping element (1), which had a longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) machined on its entire external surface, but leaving a smooth portion (Sa) at one end.

[0068] At the closed end (Sd) of the longitudinal cylindrical and hollow plastic piece, a spoon-shaped blade (Se) was provided, to obtain the utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, illustrated in figures 4 and 5.

[0069] Example 4. Tubular utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances.

[0070] A longitudinal, cylindrical, and tubular plastic piece was used to manufacture the longitudinal clamping element (1), which had a longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) machined across its entire external surface, leaving a smooth portion (Sa) at one end, as was done in example 3.

[0071] At the end that does not have a smooth portion (Sa), of the longitudinal cylindrical and tubular plastic piece, a spoon-shaped blade (Se) was provided, to obtain the utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, illustrated in figures 4 and 6.

[0072] Example 5. Tubular utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances, with a stop and spiral ornament at one end.

[0073] This utensil (S) was manufactured exactly like the utensil described in example 4, with the difference that it was also provided with an external circular stop (Sh) between the longitudinally toothed outer surface (Sb) and the smooth portion (Sa); and it was also externally engraved with a spiral ornament (Sg) on its smooth end (Sa) opposite the end with the blade (Se). This utensil is illustrated in figure 7.

[0074] Example 6. A container and lid with a toothed perforation, comprising a mechanism for beating and mixing substances. This example is illustrated in Figures 8 and 9, where a conventional transparent plastic cup (C), of the type used for drinks containing crushed ice, was used, with its respective dome-shaped lid (L) having a central perforation through which a conventional straw passes. In this case, a toothed perforation (La') was machined into the central perforation; and a utensil (S) as described in Example 5 was used to form the mechanism for beating and mixing substances. The utensil (S) was inserted through the toothed perforation (La') until the blade (Se) was at the bottom of the container (C), in such a way that the teeth of the longitudinally toothed outer surface (Sb) of the utensil (S) make contact with the teeth of the central perforation (La') of the lid (L), thus forming the mechanism for beating and mixing substances, according to the present invention; and by rotating the utensil (S) on its own axis (S1) and at the same time as it slides (S2) on the toothed edge of the toothed perforation (La') of the lid (L), a gear system is formed, making it so that with less effort, the utensil (S) with its blade (Se) rotates with greater force to beat and mix more quickly and homogeneously, the substance contained in the container (C).

[0075] The way in which the mechanism for beating and mixing substances, of the present invention, works to remove crushed ice from frappé-type drinks, is as follows:

[0076] Once the frappé-type drink has been served in the container (C), the lid (L), with a toothed perforation (La'), is placed in the opening of the container (C), then the end with the blade (Sc) of the utensil (S) is inserted through the toothed perforation (La') of the lid (L), leaving the blade (Se) inside the container (C) and immersed in the frappé-type drink's crushed ice; making contact with the longitudinally toothed outer surface (Sb) of the utensil (S) with the teeth of the toothed perforation (La') of the lid (L). When the consumer wishes to beat and / or mix the frappé ice, he can slide (S2) the utensil (S) along the toothed edge of the toothed perforation (La') by turning the utensil (S) on its own axis (S1), and through the gear formed friction is generated causing the blade (Se) to turn beating and mixing the frappé ice, breaking up the ice clumps formed. In order to position the blade (Sc) of the utensil (S) at different heights, the utensil (S) is slid up or down (S3).

[0077] This mechanism prevents the accumulation of crushed ice, in this case, since with the rotations (S1 and S2) to which the utensil (S) can be subjected, the drink is mixed more efficiently, so that from the beginning to the end both the liquid and the crushed ice can be consumed without the latter accumulating.

[0078] Example 7. A container and lid with a toothed duct, comprising a mechanism for beating and mixing substances.

[0079] This example is illustrated in Figures 10 through 15, where a conventional transparent plastic cup (C), of the type used for drinks containing crushed ice, was used, along with its respective dome-shaped lid (L) having a central perforation through which a conventional straw passes. In this case, a toothed lower channel (La) was machined into the central perforation, and a utensil (S) as described in Example 5 was used to form the mechanism for beating and mixing substances. The utensil (S) was inserted through the toothed channel (La) until the blade (Se) was at the bottom of the container (C), such that the teeth of the longitudinally toothed outer surface (Sb) of the utensil (S) made contact with the teeth of the toothed channel (La) of the lid (L), thus forming the mechanism for beating and mixing substances, according to the present invention.By rotating the utensil (S) on its own axis (S1), while simultaneously sliding it, through movement (S2), in the teeth of the toothed duct (La), a gear system is formed. This system allows the utensil (S), with its blade (Se), to rotate with greater force, thus beating and mixing the substance contained in the container (C) more efficiently and quickly, ensuring a homogeneous mixture, while applying less effort. Example 8. Container with a toothed rim at its opening.

[0080] This example illustrates a further embodiment of the mechanism for beating and mixing substances, according to the present invention.

[0081] A conventional container (C) without a lid was used; therefore, in this case, the container (C) was provided with a toothed edge (Ca) at its opening, see figure 16. In this case, a utensil (S) like the one made in example 5 was used, where the mechanism for beating and mixing substances was formed by joining the longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) of the utensil (S) with the toothed edge (Ca) of the container (C).

[0082] By rotating the utensil (S) on its axis (S1) and making contact with the teeth of the toothed edge (Ca) of the container (C), said utensil (S) forms a gear system and causing, with less effort, the utensil (S) with its blade (Se) to rotate with greater force to beat and mix more quickly and efficiently in a homogeneous way, the substance contained in the container (C).

[0083] Example 9. Container with toothed opening and conventional lid.

[0084] For this example, a container (C) with a serrated edge (Ca) as in example 8 was used; a conventional lid (M) with a smooth central perforation (M') was used; and a utensil (S) as in example 5 was used, see figure 17. Therefore, in this example, the conventional lid (M) is only used to close the container (C) with the serrated edge (Ca); since to beat and mix the substance using the beating and mixing mechanism, the conventional lid (M) has to be removed, in order to slide and rotate the utensil (S) on the serrated edge (Ca) of the container (C), to beat and mix the substance, as is done in example 16. Example 10. Container with serrated opening and lid with serrated duct.

[0085] This example is illustrated in Figure 18. For this example, a container (C) with a toothed edge (Ca) was used, as in Example 8; a lid (L) with a toothed duct (La) was used, as in Example 7; and a utensil (S) was used, as in Example 5. As can be seen in this example, two toothed and circular gear elements are provided, one in the lid (L) and the other in the container opening (C).

[0086] In this case, either of the toothed and circular gear elements can be used to beat and mix the substance. When it is desired to use the toothed edge (Ca) of the container (C), the lid (L) must be removed to beat and mix the substance, as in example 9.

[0087] Example 11. Container and lid with toothed duct, comprising a mechanism for beating and mixing substances, for containing smaller volumes of substances.

[0088] This example is illustrated in Figures 19, 20, 23, and 24, where a conventional, but shorter, transparent plastic cup (C) of the type used for edible yogurt was used, with its corresponding truncated conical lid (L) having a central perforation. In this case, a toothed lower channel (La) was machined into the central perforation, and a utensil (S) like the one described in Example 1, but shorter in length, was used to form the mechanism for beating and mixing substances. The utensil (S) was inserted through the toothed central channel (La) until the blade (Se) was at the bottom of the container (C), such that the teeth of the longitudinally toothed outer surface (Sb) of the utensil (S) made contact with the teeth of the central channel (La) of the lid (L), thus forming the mechanism for beating and mixing substances, according to the present invention.By rotating the utensil (S) on its own axis (S1), but at the same time sliding it, by means of the movement (S2) in the teeth of the toothed duct (La), a system of gears is formed, with which the utensil (S) with its blade (Se), rotates with greater force to beat and mix more efficiently and quickly in a homogeneous way the substance contained in the container (C), applying less effort.

[0089] Example 12. Truncated conical shaped lid with central perforation having a toothed duct, with a pop-up plug.

[0090] In this example, a truncated conical cap (L) is illustrated, as described in example 11, which has a central perforation (Lb) where a toothed duct is provided, similar to the cap illustrated in example 7; only in this example, a hinged plug (Ld) was provided in the duct perforation, which closes and opens said central perforation (Lb), see figures 25 to 27.

[0091] Example 13. Truncated conical shaped lid with central perforation having a toothed duct, with fixed plug.

[0092] In this example, a truncated conical lid (L) is illustrated, as described in example 12, which has a central perforation (Lb) where a toothed duct is provided, similar to the lid illustrated in example 7; only in this example, a fixed plug (Le) was provided in the duct perforation, which was cut in the shape of a cross to allow the passage of the utensil (S) through the perforation of the toothed duct (La); see figures 28 to 30 for a better understanding.

[0093] Example 14. Foldable tubular utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances.

[0094] A longitudinal, cylindrical, and tubular piece of plastic was used to manufacture the longitudinal fastening element (1). A longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb) was machined into its middle and outer portion, while leaving a smooth portion (Sa) at both ends. A folding or bending mechanism (Si) for the utensil (S) was provided on the smooth portion (Sa) of the end where the blade (Se) will be placed, see Figures 21 and 22. In this example, the folding or bending mechanism (Si) consists of a partial cut located preferably between the smooth portion (Sa) where the blade (Se) is located and the longitudinally toothed external surface (Sb), in such a way that it allows the utensil (S) to be folded or bent in order to store and transport the utensil (S) in a smaller space, such as inside the truncated conical lid (L) of Examples 11, 12, and 13.

[0095] The aforementioned partial cut can also be a material thinning groove that allows and facilitates folding and bending of the utensil (S) in that section.

[0096] A spoon-shaped blade (Se) was fitted to one of the smooth ends (Sa) of the longitudinal cylindrical plastic piece to create the utensil (S) for mechanisms that beat and mix substances. Finally, an external circular stop (Sh) was added to the utensil, similar to the stop described in example (5).
