Abstract

A recreational equipment backpack is disclosed. The backpack includes, for example, a totable shell having one or more openable enclosures, one or more exterior pockets, and one or more exterior straps for toting. One of the one or more openable enclosures has an interior back wall, opposing interior side walls, and opposing interior top and bottom walls. A recreational equipment pocket is disposed on the interior back wall of one of the one or more openable enclosures. The recreational equipment pocket has a pocket depth, a pocket wall, opposing side edges and opposing top and bottom edges. The bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket has an acute angle relative to and disposed at an elevation above the interior bottom wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures.

[0002] The present disclosure relates to a backpack for transporting recreational footwear, gear and necessities. More particularly, but not exclusively, the present disclosure relates to a backpack for ergonomically storing and comfortably toting recreational footwear.BACKGROUND

[0003] Backpacks are often used to transport various items. Many have backstraps for allowing the wearer to comfortably tote the backpack and its weight when loaded. Backpacks often include separate compartments for different uses, some internal and others external for quick and easy access.

[0004] Gym bags are also often used to transport items. Many have shoulder straps for bearing the weight of the bag. Some have compartments for separating the contents and internal and external pockets for quick and easy access.

[0005] Backpacks and gym bags today are not useful with particularity to the various recreational footwear industries, such as the skating industry or for effectively and satisfactorily transporting gear and necessities oft used at a skating rink or in relation to skating or other recreational activities.

[0006] With recreational footwear such as skates, while there exists skating bags, most are configured in such a way that the skates are positioned outwardly or away from a user when the bag is worn. For example, skates stowed in a traditional skate pack may be positioned perpendicular to the back of a user, creating an imbalanced weight distribution or weight that extends too far from the wearer, causing wearer fatigue and discomfort. Further, other skate bags are designed with wheels and handles, similar to suitcases, and can be large and cumbersome, which creates problems when a user needs to transport their equipment a long distance, doesn’t have room for a large bag, or requires a bag easier to transport. Further still, there exists rink totes that are similar to tote bags, however, these bags have limited storage space, do not enable a user to wear them and may be more difficult to carry long distances, and do not provide adequate storage space to carry skates or various gear and accessories while protecting them from the elements.

[0007] Current totes or bags are not designed specifically for sporting enthusiasts’ footwear nor do they address the specific ergonomic and wearer fatigue issues that occur, particularly with heavier types of recreational footwear, or footwear that if not stowed and ported properly can easily be scratched and / or damaged as a result.

[0008] It is imperative that a backpack for recreational footwear be designed to address the shortcomings of the above-described bags or packs to better diminish the burden, ineffectiveness, and inefficiencies of transporting skating rink gear and necessities by a user. Therefore, what is needed is a device that can more readily contain, organize, and transport skating gear, accessories, and necessities.SUMMARY

[0009] Therefore, it is a primary object, feature, or advantage of the present disclosure to improve over the state of the art by providing a backpack for recreational footwear with features that will increase the effectiveness of transporting skating gear.

[0010] Another object, feature, or advantage of the present disclosure is to provide a backpack for recreational footwear that will enable ice skate storage orientation that provides skate weight distribution to reduce user fatigue, increase user comfort, and more effectively balance the weight of skates in a backpack.

[0011] Another further object, feature, or advantage of the present disclosure is to provide a backpack for recreational footwear that will separate recreational footwear from other stowed items to prevent unwanted contact, wear or damage from occurring.

[0016] According to at least one aspect, a backpack for recreational footwear is disclosed.The backpack for recreational footwear may be a skate pack and may include a totable shell having one or more openable enclosures, one or more exterior pockets, one or more air vents, and one or more exterior straps for toting where one of the one or more openable enclosures may have an interior back wall, opposing interior side walls, and opposing interior top and bottom walls. The recreational equipment pocket may be disposed on the interior back wall of one of the one or more openable enclosures and may have a pocket depth, a pocket wall, opposing side edges and opposing top and bottom edges, and the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket may have an acute angle relative to and disposed at an elevation above the interior bottom wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures. The bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket may be disposed between the opposing interior side walls of the one of the one or more openable enclosures, and the pocket opening may be disposed between the top edge of the recreational equipment pocket and the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures. Additionally, the pocket depth of the recreational equipment pocket of the recreational equipment backpack may be generally equal to the distance between the bottom wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures and the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket, and the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket may be disposed at an acute angle relative to the top edge of the recreational equipment pocket. The pocket wall of the recreational equipment pocket of the recreational equipment backpack may also include an expandable material envelope deformable to house an inverted one of a pair of skating equipment. The back wall of the recreational equipment pocket may also include the interior back wall of the one of the one or more open enclosures. [0017] The recreational equipment backpack may further include a second recreational equipment pocket disposed within the one of the one or more openable enclosures, and the second recreational equipment pocket may be disposed beneath the recreational equipment pocket and include portions of the interior back wall, opposing interior side walls, and opposing interior top and bottom walls of the one of the one or more openable enclosures. The second recreational equipment pocket may further be disposed within one of the one or more openable enclosures, and the second recreational equipment pocket may be configured to house an upright one of a pair of skating equipment directly beneath the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket. The second recreational equipment pocket may be configured to house an uprightly disposed one of a pair of skates beneath and against the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures and generally in the same plane as another invertedly disposed one of the pair of skates in the recreational equipment pocket.

[0018] Further, the recreational equipment backpack may include an exterior back side of the totable shell resting against the back of a wearer when worn as well as a second recreational equipment pocket which may be disposed within the one of the one or more openable enclosures, wherein the recreational equipment pocket may be inverted and may be disposed in generally the same plane as the second recreational equipment pocket and on the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures. Additionally, a pair of skates in the recreational pocket and second recreational pocket may be disposed in the same plane and against the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures for keeping the weight of the pair of skates in the same plane and as close to the exterior back side of the totable shell as possible to reduce wearer fatigue and increase wearer comfort.

The backpack for recreational footwear may be a skating equipment backpack and may include a main compartment having exterior opposing front and back walls, exterior top and bottom walls, and exterior side walls, and may additionally include one or more shoulder straps attached to the main compartment for wearing the backpack with the exterior back wall resting against the back of a wearer. The backpack for recreational footwear may also include a skate pocket which may be disposed on an interior back wall of the mainAtty Dkt #: RINKRABBIT-P0001PCTcompartment, and the skate pocket may have a pocket opening, a pocket depth, a pocket wall, opposing side edges and opposing top and bottom edges wherein the bottom edge of the skate pocket may be disposed generally in a middle of the interior back wall of the main compartment and the opening may be disposed adjacent one of a plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment. The bottom edge of the skate pocket may be disposed between opposing pairs of the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment., and the pocket opening may be disposed between the top edge of the skate pocket and the interior back wall of the main compartment. Additionally, the pocket depth of the skate pocket may be generally equal to the distance between one of the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment and the bottom edge of the skate pocket, and the bottom edge of the skate pocket may be disposed at an acute angle relative to one of the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment. The backpack is designed for transporting recreational equipment, such as recreational footwear, and includes a series of features intended to organize, secure, and protect the gear during transport.

This shell provides a sturdy structure and defines the boundaries of the internal storage space. The enclosure also includes two lateral boundaries defined by interior side wall 72 and opposite interior side wall 74, which help maintain the shape of the compartment and secure items stored within it.

3. The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, wherein the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket is disposed at an acute angle relative to the top edge of the recreational equipment pocket.

The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, further comprising:a second recreational equipment pocket disposed within the one of the one or more openable enclosures, the second recreational equipment pocket configured to house an upright one of a pair of skating equipment directly beneath the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket.

7. The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, wherein the bottom edge of the recreational equipment pocket is disposed between the opposing interior side walls of the one of the one or more openable enclosures.

8. The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, further comprising:a pocket opening disposed between the top edge of the recreational equipment pocket and the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures.

9. The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, further comprising:a back wall of the recreational equipment pocket comprising the interior back wall of the one of the one or more open enclosures.

11. The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, wherein the recreational equipment pocket is configured for recreational equipment footwear.

The recreational equipment backpack of claim 1, further comprising:An exterior back side of the totable shell resting against the back of a wearer when worn;a second recreational equipment pocket disposed within the one of the one or more openable enclosures, wherein the recreational equipment pocket is inverted and disposed in generally the same plane as the second recreational equipment pocket and on the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures;wherein a pair of skates in the recreational pocket and second recreational pocket are disposed in the same plane and against the interior back wall of the one of the one or more openable enclosures for keeping the weight of the pair of skates in the same plane and as close to the exterior back side of the totable shell as possible to reduce wearer fatigue and increase wearer comfort.

13. A skating equipment backpack, comprising:a main compartment having an exterior opposing front and back walls, exterior top and bottom walls, and exterior side walls;one or more shoulder straps attached to the main compartment for wearing the backpack with the exterior back wall resting against the back of a wearer;Atty Dkt #: RINKRABBIT-P0001PCTa skate pocket disposed on an interior back wall of the main compartment, the skate pocket having a pocket opening, a pocket depth, a pocket wall, opposing side edges and opposing top and bottom edges;wherein the bottom edge of the skate pocket is disposed generally in a middle of the interior back wall of the main compartment and the opening is disposed adjacent one of a plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment.

14. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, wherein the pocket depth of the skate pocket is generally equal to the distance between one of the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment and the bottom edge of the skate pocket.

15. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, wherein the bottom edge of the skate pocket is disposed at an acute angle relative to one of the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment.

16. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, wherein the pocket wall of the skate pocket comprises an expandable material envelope deformable to house one of a pair of skates.

17. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, further comprising:a second skate pocket disposed within the main compartment, the second skate pocket comprising portions of the interior back wall and the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment.

The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, further comprising:Atty Dkt #: RINKRABBIT-P0001PCTa second skate pocket disposed within the main compartment, the skate pockets configured to house a pair of skates together in an inverted position within the same plane against the interior back wall of the main compartment.

19. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, wherein the bottom edge of the skate pocket is disposed between opposing pairs of the plurality of interior side walls of the main compartment.

20. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, wherein the pocket opening is disposed between the top edge of the skate pocket and the interior back wall of the main compartment.

21. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, further comprising:a back wall of the skate pocket comprising the interior back wall of the main compartment.

22. The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, wherein the skate pocket is configured for recreational equipment footwear.

The skating equipment backpack of claim 13, further comprising:a second skate pocket disposed within the main compartment, wherein the skate pocket is inverted and disposed in generally the same plane as the second skate pocket and on the interior back wall of the main compartment;wherein a pair of skates in the skate pocket and second skate pocket are disposed in the same plane and against the interior back wall of the main compartment for keeping the weight of the pair of skates in the same plane and as close to the exterior back side of the main compartment to reduce wearer fatigue and increase wearer comfort.
